Tuesday scent of the day 3/3

Posted by Robin on 3 March 2020 126 Comments

Happy World Wildlife Day! What fragrance are you wearing?

I am commando for the moment. My father died last night. He lived a good long life and died peacefully — what he repeated over and over again during his last few days was what a lucky life he had — but of course I will miss him. I'll be back tomorrow. (And please do go right ahead and have your usual fun in the comments! That's why I am posting the poll, after all.)

Reminder: 3/6 is the The Day of the Dude. Take it easy, man.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I can still detect yesterdays ISM to which I have added some Eau d’Hiver. It’s a zen fragrance.

Tea is Nepal Shangri-La-Gold with a lot of stofgp’s.

And have just now read your complete post Robin.

My heartfelt condolences. Good to hear that he felt grateful for his life, still as you said it won’t really make you miss him any less.

Sending hugs and lots of good wishes your way!

My thoughts are with you and your family, Robin.

I am wearing Schiaparelli Snuff which is all oakmoss, lavender, cedar and pipe tobacco once the off notes from age have dissipated. It is a bit sweet for a warm day in Miami.

Your fragrance sounds wonderful. I’ve never smelled any Schiaparelli’s, although my mother had a bottle of Shocking when I was little. Never even gave it a sniff, more is the pity.

So sorry for your loss, Robin. Glad it was peaceful and that he seemed to have no regrets. Hugs to you and your family.

My SOTD is inspired by yours from yesterday: Astier de Villatte Grand Chalet which is so Spring-like and matches the weather today, even if the linden trees are not ready to blossom yet. This is the only AdV scent (decant) in my collection, but I do love some of their perfumes.

    Sorry about your loss, Robin.

Forgive me, Donnatella, for I have sinned. I bought a one ounce bottle of Estee Lauder Pleasures (original not the flanker). It was dirt cheap. Spending the morning in vintage Shalimar but will switch over to De Profundis later on.

Oh, Robin, I’m sorry to hear about your father. I am thinking of you today. It’s a hard thing for sure. So glad that he felt he lived a lucky life – that’s a great thing to be able to say. ♥

BK Amber Oud is what I would have worn had I been more organized this morning. But instead I flew out of the house with nothing on. Or rather, with no fragrance on. I think I have a sample of LL Jasmin 17 which I will eventually dab on.

First of all HUGE thanks to Cazaubon for pointing out the discontinuation and discount of Dilettante – is there anything more bittersweet than those two things together! (Discount code at Hiram Green’s website is Dilettante, for those who missed it.) My bottle came last night and is gorgeous and I love it. I rarely buy full bottles but since this is one of my top 10 I have no regrets. In the way of such things though, as soon as it arrived I wasn’t in the mood to wear it. So I’m wearing the Voyage 2019 sample that came with it instead, which I would describe as Shalimar made cozier by buddhist temple incense. Definitely worth a try!

SOTD: Black Cashmere, although more of a light spring sweater day
Weather is gorgeous and would be happy to ride the rest of winter out in 50 degree days.

Watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s (again) this weekend and just love the perfume scenes: 1. where she uses her mailbox mirror to put on lipstick and spray on (Givenchy?) perfume.. the mailbox is used as storage for these items as well (brilliant idea!) and 2. quite tipsy from out drinking with ‘Fred’ or Paul Varjak she pulls the bottle out of the mailbox while entering the apt. building and starts spritzing away using the spritzes as an exclamation to her ramblings. It’s a bulb bottle, of course.

    Hermes Eau de Narcisse Bleu.

I had blood work done this morning and I had been fasting since 10 o’clock last night. I packed my purse with a small bottle of Hermes Eau de Narcisse Bleu, bottled water and some Italian fig cookies — my reward for after it was over this morning. I applied my scent and had my cookies on the way to my car.

Sending love and light to you, Robin. We are never ready to say goodbye to our parents, but I am glad that his life was long and full, what more can we ask.

Commando today as I am still struggling to get rid of this nasty sinus infection. It is on its way out, but certainly taking its time!!

You smell dreamy. If you get a chance to smell the original Fendi, I think you would like it. Be careful though, the one that is .85 oz, is the reformulated one, and is nothing but water. Some people claim it to be vintage, but it is not.

Thank you Lillyjo, the info about the original Fendi is good to know, I’ve seen those .85 oz bottles.

How odd, I thought I posted here, but I do not see my post. So sorry to hear about your dad passing, Robin. He sounds like a great man.

SOTD – DS&Durga Durga, my favorite Tuberose bomb.

The job I applied for went to someone else. Sorry to not get a raise, but not sorry to miss moving to the mini-cube farm in the most congested part of town. Everything is a trade off. Less stress to stay where I am. I can focus on my garden this spring instead of learning a new job.

Oh Robin! I am so very sorry to hear about your father’s passing. My deepest condolences to you and your family. Also, scented hugs.

SOTD = Alien Saphir Sunessence EdT. It’s one of my unicorn bottles that I didn’t get to last week. It asked me very politely today to spritz it. So I did. It’s a nice contrast to today’s rainy but warm weather.

Easy scent of the day is CdG Luxe Champaca EDT, which is a favorite spring floral. I think it’s a pretty, smoothed out yet “fuzzy” floral on me.

Robin, I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

SOTD = 28 La Pausa EDT

As you can see, my bottle is in dangerously low with my 8 sprays per wear and some decanting for swaps / freebies. I do have a humongo BUB so I’ll go on with my overspraying self ?

It was definitely panic buying when news came out about the EDPs! I good thing I did as for a while, it seemed like the volume in my bottle kept increasing despite my usage.
