Happy Fat Tuesday! It’s also George Harrison’s birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I am commando this morning, and drinking a cup of Numi Chinese Breakfast. (I am also still out of town, and I'm behind on comments again.)
Reminder: 2/28 will be Unicorn Friday...wear a perfume you suspect no one else (or almost no one else) on Now Smell This owns, or something that you very rarely see worn or mentioned. Suggested by Oakland Fresca.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Fred Float Tea Unicorn Infuser ("Sit back, relax and let this unicorn pool toy-shaped tea infuser do all the work. Simply fill the stainless steel bottom with your favorite loose leaf tea, twist on the top and let it float on top of a mug of hot water.") is $15 at Sur La Table.
Theoretical unicorn- Marbert Man. Full bottle from Holly
I love your concept of a theoretical unicorn. The mind boggles!
Not in a unicorn, at least not in my book. Wearing Paris YSL, because someone wore Opium yesterday. Finished my Paris body cream and added some Eau de Parfum on top, to keep things very rosy indeed.
Tea is an Assam Marangi Second Flush and a lot of letters (SFTGFOP 1). It’s good.
Oh yum! Have not worn Paris in ages.
Oh, and I love your choice of infuser!
Angela Flanders Precious One – mossy and earthy. I have not seen anyone else mentioning it in the comments.
I don’t think I have either, and even Angela Flanders sightings are rare.
Portrait of a Lady body oil. I meant to layer some perfume over it before leaving for work but forgot.
Happy Tuesday all!
I’m sure you smell wonderful. I recently got a bottle of Carnal Flower body oil and it’s just great. Lovely oil and a great way to wear a powerful perfume.
Thank you Austenfan.
I know about the CF body oil. You gave me the last nudge I needed to buy it. I haven’t yet but it will be my next purchase ?
I do go on about things, don’t I. You won’t regret it, I promise ?
Well, I have you to thank for finding La Fin d’un Ete, so, you see, I do listen ?
You smell great!
Thank you Undina!
You smelled great today!
Adrienne Vittadini Adrienne Vittadini edp from a mini that must be 20 years old. I’m pretty sure this has been discontinued because bottles on the bay are pretty expensive. I wore this perfume when I was pregnant with my college girl. I remember smelling it at a perfume counter at Boston Store (rip) when I was on a shopping weekend with my mom. I loved it and bought a bottle on the spot and wore it everyday until it was gone. That’s how I used to wear perfume once upon a time, one scent at a time. Good scent memories associated with this one.☺️
Wow! It is amazing the shelf life of some perfumes.
And that is exactly how I used to wear perfume.
As I said yesterday, I am making my own interpretation of the cp for this week by wearing perfumes that many of us have (or maybe not) and that nobody wears or reports that is wearing anymore, myself included.
Today, I am in Calvin Klein Obsession. The perfume that when I smelled being a teenager changed my whole world forever. Many, many moons later I was finally able to afford a full bottle. My first perfume purchase. I love it, it has the most especial place in my heart, it must be in my collection forever, but I don’t reach for it anymore. I don’t even remember when was the last time I wore it. Years ago, for sure. Some day I will get a vintage bottle, because at that time it was really glorious!
Fun twist to the CP! I used to wear Obsession as well and a friend of mine practically bathed in it and I think of her every time I smell it now. It’s a gorgeous classic.
Thanks! I am almost sure I will not see anyone wearing any of those huge classics here this week. Obsession is gorgeous! The bottle that I have is from 2007 and is still very nice compared to the actual formulation. But nothing beats the beauty of the vintage.
Yay! I have a bottle of Obsession Sheer (Sheer Obsession? I’m never sure…) that I still wear regularly in cool weather. One of the few my oldest son has commented on saying that it smells great.
How does the Sheer compare to regular Obsession? I have never tried it.
I’d be happy to send you some if you’re interested. I think they did a good job keeping the backbone of the original, and I remember preferring the Sheer just a bit, but I haven’t smelled the original for a long time.
Oh thanks! I would love to! I will email you when I get home tonight.
You smell fantastic! Obsession is my most special perfume too, my husband and college bestie associate this perfume with me. If I HAD to get rid of all of my perfumes but one, this would be it. My bottle is vintage, from before Calvin Klein sold to Coty(?) I also have a vintage mini of the squatty bottle and that one has gotten very concentrated and rich over time.
Thank you! The mini vintage that you have is a treasure! I usually say that if I have to get rid of all my perfumes I would keep an iris scent. But at the end I always come to the conclusion that Obsession will be the winner for sentimental reasons and because it is wonderful!
Is the mini the one with a caramel brown top that looks like a nipple? If yes, I hope I did not give mine away pre-perfumista ?. My earliest minis were Obsession and Liz Claiborne (triangular with yellow red and blue piping).
Yes! That’s the one, I hope you didn’t get rid of it either. That concentrated version is even better than the spray. When I first started buying Obsession I think (?) it only came in those squatty bottles and was labeled cologne. I loved the way it looked sitting on my dresser.
I remember Liz Claiborne too, my Walgreens still carries it!
I still have my Obsession sample that I received from somewhere many moons ago, and have not yet cracked it open – saving it for whatever reason, nostalgia and all. I remember also owning an Imposter Obsession called Sensation waaaaay back in high school, and boy did my classmates know I was around in that stuff! I loved it anyway, ha!
I remember so many good dupes of Obsession that were really good at that time and that I wore sometimes as a teenager to satisfy a bit my craving for the real one, lol! It The old times!
I never could wear Obsession. Something went really wrong with it and my chemistry. Not a good combo!
Did you ever try any of the flankers? Hypnotic Poison is my favorite from the line.
Oh boy! I meant Obsession Night. I was thinking about all the Poison flankers when I wrote my comnent. I guess is time to sleep! ??
Me too! Hated both men’s & women’s versions. When I started dating my husband, it was the only bottle of his that I asked him to get rid of.
I’m in Gucci EDP today, and wore Nanadebary Bronze yesterday. Very seldom see either mentioned by anybody (aside from me) on this site, but when I mention them there’s usually at least one person who says, “oh yeah, THAT one” (or words to that effect), so … semi-unicorns? I love them both and wear them regularly.
Ha, I’ve definitely been that person when you’ve worn both perfumes. It was because you posted about wearing the Nanadebary that I wore it last month. I have bottles of Bronze and Gucci EDP, but I don’t wear them as often as I should. I’ve had two decants of the Gucci since MUA swapping days, and they’ll probably still last me a while since the perfume is strong. I bought a partial bottle from eBay last year, but sadly the sprayer is wonky. I think I’ll eventually use a syringe to decant it.
Wearing Heretic Parfum’s Dirty Jasmine today. Love love love the mate tea and hay in it.
Got home from my aunt’s yesterday morning and had to go to work shortly after. It was pretty awesome to sleep in my own bed last night and spending the morning in Theorema. After my shower, I think vintage BaV will suit. Good news is that it looks like my Sephora package will arrive tomorrow.
There is nothing like your own bed, is there?
I love that you can get samples at Sephora, 3 tops, and they can’t refuse you. My last and final trip to L&T consisted of the cosmetics dept. floor manager getting snooty with me and telling me that they will no longer be able to give samples out unless I bought something. And I had been stopping in there every few months or so to test ‘n’ sniff for years. Macy’s doesn’t do that (yet).
I don’t think I have ever gotten a free sample from Macy’s unless I bought something.
Not sure I ever got free samples from Macy’s, period. Unless GWPs count?
Nope, because you still have to purchase something to get the GWP.
Hello! My plan for this week is to try to “stump” the group, so do comment if you own one of these! I expect this will be a challenge.
Today I am wearing Slumberhouse Vikt. My husband and I are sampling our way through the amaro spirits at a local restaurant, and we tried one this week called Santa Maria that reminded me a lot of Vikt’s dark herbs and resin. I wish this hadn’t been discontinued – I’d stretch my budget to buy it at regular Slumberhouse prices, but the Slumberhouse aftermarket is way beyond me.
Yesterday I wore EL Celadon, which really was a unicorn for me. I loved the description and thought I’d never get to try it, but an EBay saved search notification can be a wonderful thing, and I got some really cheaply. Yesterday morning I was liking-not-loving it and thinking I’d sell it, but last night in bed the drydown was so lovely that now I must keep it.
Ebay search notifications are trouble! But glad you got a good deal
And how fun to be sampling amaro spirits with your husband.
Fun CM! I won’t have anything to offer but I like the idea and unicorns are all the rage.
SOTD: YSL’s Libre
I wore a light sweater today and sleeveless puffer as it’s that mild outside. Weather is nutty.
I like Libre!
I do too!
…Today’s high where I am is 76F. Nutty indeed :-p
Good morning Y’all!
I’m working thru some forgotten samples this week and today I settled on La Maison de la Vanille’s Vanille Sauvage de Madagascar. The note list includes several florals, incense, and sandalwood, but honestly all I get is straight up vanilla extract. That being said, it’s a yummy sweet marshmallowy vanilla extract and I’m loving it at the moment. Would I pay $60 for a full bottle? It can always go on the perpetual buy list, and we’ll see what happens….
“Perpetual buy list”–I love it. My buy list used to make me feel anxious as it grew longer and longer. I’m sure this kind of list would be easy to live with!
I can tide you over for a while! have a 15ml travel spray of that one which I’d love to send to you. My email is harukirumi in the land of yahoo.
Hooooooly mooooooly! I would absolutely LOVE that! Emailing you now, but please allow me to pay for it or do a swap? Thank you so much!
In Cedrus by Fiele Fragrances. I smell like a dandy in a wood-paneled room.
This CP idea was brilliant! So far I’ve seen a lot of perfumes and houses I’ve never heard of.
I like that one too, but I just have a sample.
I’m wearing one that I haven’t worn in awhile (years?). Today I’m in Donna Karan Woman.
Ah, that’s probably a unicorn at this point!
Robin is creating a lemming – I am in “commando’ also.
I wore LPRN yesterday and it was such fun I may do it today. Nothing really mixes well with Deet and lemongrass natural bug spray so there’s that….hence commando so far. I am in nasal overload.
Happy FatTUESDAY people!
Santal Blanc. I have to see a lot of people today.
Twins! I finally got to try this. I was kind of apprehensive about specifically seeking it out to try (I’m new to perfumeland, have mercy), as there are a lot of different opinions about this one. Reminds me somewhat of Chypre Rouge at the beginning, but the drydown is much nicer. I actually really like this one.
On seeking out things to try, I have definitely decided that I like the older formulations. Got samples with a recent skincare buy of the newer JHAG perfumes and I find them all either harsh or generic. Not that I’m a great expert, but for me personally older is nicer.
I went into my “given by Mom, to her regret” bottles for Avon Cotillion Spray Essence. Early in this perfume phase of mine (2017?), Mom gave me a couple of bottles of perfume she didn’t wear. My guess is that they’re from the 1960s. The bottle for Cotillion is a flattened sphere of clear glass. The juice is amber-colored, but that’s probably from age. The neck of the bottle is pink, and the cap is gold-colored, shaped like a top hat, but flaring wider at the top.
The “to her regret” part came in more for Avon Persian Wood Cologne Mist. When I tried that, the sprayer got stuck in the open position for a bit, and the house smelled like the Avon take on Persian Wood for a while. That’s in a red bottle, opaque plastic, curving down from the top to a smaller flat base. The cap is rounded also, and comes to a point on top. The cap is gold-colored.
Those of you of a mature age will likely remember Avon products from the 1960s. Mom was an Avon lady in college and before she got her first job as a librarian, if I remember what she said correctly.
My very first bottle of perfume was Avon Field Flowers which my mom bought for me because she realized that I was secretly spritzing from her perfume bottles. I started this behavior when I was three ?
The Avons from the 60s-80s were amazing! Moonwind, Charisma, Timeless, Candid, Ariane, Sweet Honesty, etc, etc. I remember Persian Wood and Cotillion and am fairly certain that I had the later.
Gosh, you were a precocious perfumista! Sounds like this brought back fond memories for you.
Yes it did
Thank you for that ??
I remember Charisma, and Sweet Honesty!
Weren’t they great? I must have worn 30+ different Avons over the past 50 years. wish I could remember all of them!!
I started off with those Avons too!
I’ve got a small box of Avon treasures that I must pull out of a drawer to wear later this week. They are packaged as little jewels in a velvet container. I found this at an antique shop and don’t know how old it is but my guess would also be 1960’s. They smell gorgeous! I’ll report in later.
Oh lucky you! They sound magical. I am certainly of the ‘mature age crowd’ and giggle at that because it’s just SOOOOO fun not to act your age. I remember the perfumes and makeup very well and Bonnie bell and Noxema, Bonnie Bell and Sea Breeze. All were staples in my bathroom. My fondest memories are of practicing cat-eyes with Yardley eyeliner endlessly.
Avon makes me smile, Mom had many but are now long gone. Enjoy!!
“Of a mature age” was my attempt to phrase it nicely. I’m glad it gave you a giggle. It certainly doesn’t mean you can’t have fun.
I have some Avon scents too. My mom sold it when I was in middle school. I wore Somewhere and still have the bath powder. It was my first “signature”. Mom loved Bird of Paradise, which I will wear later this week.
I still have my Night Magic from Avon that I bought years ago. It is about half now and I only wear it on special occasions.
I’m pretty sure that my mom had Charisma, Moonwind, and Timeless back in the day. She now swears that she never, ever wore perfume in her life.
Mom doesn’t deny that she liked certain fragrant bath and body products back in the day. She still has a bottle of Yardley London April Violets splash, and she had honeysuckle-scented powder, and used various bath oils back when. I remember a lilac perfume or soap she had, too.
She’s been allergic to lanolin for a long, long time, and never could wear wool except if it was lined with another material. So she had to be careful to check the ingredients on lotions all along. Then in the last couple of decades, she seemed to react to having fragrances on her skin, and basically cut down to using a hypoallergenic lotion.
Here I’ll do a crowd-source question, since several of you have fond memories of Avon products of the 1960s and later. Mom’s mother used a lotion that I think was in a yellow bottle with white accents and writing(?). I found that a very pleasant scent. It was relatively subtle, I think, and stayed pretty close to her skin. I remember she’d put cream or lotion on her face after her morning bath. I’d like to get ideas about what the lotion in the yellow bottle might have been. Thanks in advance!
Noting that a Basenotes review of Persian Wood mentions that one early version had a bottle that was opaque due to being painted with rubberized paint. That sounds about right for how the bottle feels to me. I feel like I can get a good, comfortable grip on the bottle due to its texture.
My CP sotd is Rundholz 03 Apr. 1968. It smells of apple and smoke. My friend Brian gave me 5 ml and I thought it was FBW but changed my mind. I do enjoy wearing my decant in the winter.
Official notes: litchi, heliotrope, olibanum.
Oooh. That sounds intriguing, and all the more so since I just read a five star review of it on Luckyscent: “its smells like a homeless person hugging a incense cone,” By DARLA – Funeral Director From Towson, Md” !!! But what is the deal with the date names of Rundholz perfumes?
The dates are family members’ birthdates or other significant dates to the creator IIRC.
I recently bumped into my sample of that and was baffled as to why I have it, so it’s definitely a unicorn! Thanks for the reminder!
I have a decant…now the trick is to find where it’s stashed ?!
I have that Rundholz too and it’s an animalic incense bomb on me.
My unicorn perfume for the CP today is Boucheron Initial. I don’t recall seeing anyone else on here mentioning it ever. It is gorgeous! My bottle is old but the juice is still quite beautiful. A spicy and peppery mix of florals with patchouli and honey and orange. I used to wear it all the time; since the bottle is small and opaque (pearly white), I have no idea if there’s much left in it, and I try to preserve it for very special occasions. It’s sophisticated and dressy.
Yep, never heard of it! But it sounds beautiful.
I’m glad you consider NST a special occasion ?
Oh, that sounds lovely!
Wearing Jubilation xxv,
A grey prince of wales checkered pencil skirt, black heeled booties….
Funny how an outfit like that makes you stand out from the crowd nowadays. This used to be normal office wear a few decades ago.
I dont think its wrong btw because I love that I can wear jeans/pants/trousers whatever and loose fit sweaters to work as well. ?
(Btw I decided I needed a pencil skirt when I saw Karen Page’s outfits in Daredevil)
That outfit sounds fab , and u smell awesome!
Thank you! ?
You do smell fantastic, and I am sure you look fantastic!
I remember Charisma, and Sweet Honesty!
Hm, this was supposed to be in response further up the list there. Oh well, my computer has been burpy this morning.
I am wearing Memo Tiger’s Nest, so I failed the CP for today, but I have some goodies for later in the week….
My unicorn perfume of the day is MOR Marshmallow. It’s sweet candy floss rose petals and musk with a spicy aspect from carmation. My bottle is at least 10 years old and has evaporated some and become richer. I think I got it in a MakeupAlley swap, or it could have been an eBay purchase.
Yesterday my boyfriend and I celebrated 14 years together. Tonight we’re going out for an Italian dinner since the restaurant we wanted to eat at is closed Mondays.
Congrats and you smell great! Had a tub of MOR marshmallow body creme ages ago and loved it silly.
Happy anniversary therabbitsflower!
Happy Anniversary! Hope it’s a great dinner!
Happy Anniversary! Enjoy your celebration!
Congratulations! I hope it is a special evening.
Thanks, everyone! Dinner was wonderful.
I still have a tub of MOR Pistachio Body Butter and I remember the Marshmallow scent well also.
Mmm I don’t think I ever tried their Pistachio, but I wanted to.
Congratulations on 14 years!
I’m commando today , but I’m thinking of wearing either Gucci Rush, or Donna Karen Gold tomorrow, both gorgeous and rarely mentioned.
Gucci Rush is back in stores lately, I noticed.
I will be commando til Friday, so we’ll see how many twins I accrue
Hi twin! We smell great! ?
Orange Star for me today. Not my favorite Tauer but my husband loves it and always compliments me when I wear it- go figure. Wore Shalimar edt yesterday.
Drained my sample of Parfums DelRae Mythique this weekend which mad me sad- I enjoyed it so much for 3 or 4 days last week..
I need a vacation to recover from my friend’s visit. We packed so much in 4 days but now I’m so exhausted.
Mythique is so lovely!
Get good rest
Isn’t it strange how having fun can be so tiring?
Love the unicorn ? tea infuser!
SOTD = Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier Iris Bleu Gris
I have not seen anyone mention this at all (except I me and myself). I swapped some with a friend here so perhaps she will chime in!
OMG ?! Yesterday, I was stuck in an elevator for 15 seconds with this woman who must have dumped half a bottle of Angel on herself. My coat, hair and tongue got contaminated. Next, walking to get lunch, a woman brushed past me reeking of BEEG Angel; this time, it was easier to escape the fumes since I was outside ?. Finally, as I neared Penn Station to catch my train, I somehow ended up behind another copious Angel wearer! What were the chances? I thought NYC was Santal 33 territory ?.
You were surrounded by many angels yesterday! I am sure you were feeling very blessed and protected! ??
Why don’t people wear AA Calling All Angels the? I would rather overdose on this one ?
Angel just wants a little love and attention from you!?
There you go.
OK, I will wear it one of these days. I will come up with a theme. ? purchased from Macys? Mugler perfumes? Perfumes with a hazelnut note? Perfumes I bought elsewhere but saw for half price at Marshalls?
Did you try the Croisiere sample yet? I think you might like it, if you use just a spray or two.
I have not…I have to be in the right mindset!
Heaven…must be missing….
OhGawd, an ear worm…. and I cannot stand that song…?
I am not a fan of it myself.
but somehow parts from songs like that they just pop up ?
Btw i looked up the notes for iris bleu gris….this sounds like a must try/must sample.
Its been a long long time since I ordered samples, but you made me curious ?
…or is this discontinued?
(And that why its a unicorn? haha)
I’ve got a bottle, so I can be of service, so to speak. Just drop me a mail if you are interested.
I don’t think it’s discontinued but it looks like you may have a source
That’s funny because I wore Angel on Friday. And then I wore Sweet William the next day, and that combined with leftover Angel made for a nice and interesting combo.
I can see how that combo can work! ?
You seem to have a history of coming across people wearing a “whole lotta Angel”! I’d rather come across that then some of the stuff I’ve ended up smelling. But yeah, I think tasting Angel is an experience best avoided.
Encountering Angel in the wild should only happen every few years, like jury duty.
LOL. I have smelled clouds of it on the street in Paris.
Sensuous Nude. I bought this for my vacation and forgot to take it. (Forgot to take it with me, not forgot to take the vacation lol.)
The vacation is more important than the SN, but you do smell good!
You are smelling wonderful! I do happen to have a bottle in my stash!
Sorry you forgot it for your vacation! One trip I forgot ALL my makeup and moisturizers when we went to Cuba. It was left on the bathroom floor all packed up in zippered storage; safely still there when we got back home.
I did that too – cost me $200 to replace my essentials at my destination! :-0
My unicorn in Givenchy Harvest Mimosa, and I’m pretty sure I got it in a swap here a few years back. I love it and never see anyone wearing it.
Yep, you may win!
I own and wear this one but I should better report my SOTD here on NST (but here’s the proof: https://undina.com/2019/04/06/mimosa-week/)
Bodycology Sweet Cotton Candy, powdery and sweet, unicorn for cheap.
The best kind of unicorn
My almost unicorn is Miss Dior Le Parfum. I know Aurora wears this, and I think someone else here. I love it. It’s a big powdery patchouli chypre on me. Today is my Friday, and I’m very happy for that?
Enjoy your “weekend”! ?
Hooray for weekends no matter when it happens!
Whoo hoo for that weekend! Enjoy!
Happy weekend, lillyjo! Enjoy.
Yep, there is at least the two of us loving Le Parfum but then we’re almost scent sisters. Happy start to your weekend!
It’s starting to feel like autumn here already, but it’s forecast to be sunny and warm today. I’m going light and summery today with Rose Alexandrie, it’s a beautiful sweet rose, but it doesn’t last long.
I envy you the sunny and warm!
Rest in Peace George Harrison.
Can a Beatle be underappreciated? Somehow Harrison is remembered mostly for only one song. Despite any amazing film career (Hard Day’s Night,* Help, (as actor) Yellow Submarine (as musician), and an amazing career producing many of the best movies of the 70’s -80’s (Life of Brian, Mona Lisa) the Academy Awards did not even mention his passing in that year’s “Memorial section.
* Harrison reportedly came up with the idea for the hilarious scene where he shows up at an advertising agency which claims that it is touch with the hip young demographic and the marketing guys nevertheless fail to recognize that one of the four most popular young hip guys in the country is sitting right in front of them.
Wearing Elysium (the original “male” version).
My favourite Harrison quote is Brian related. When asked why he wanted to put up the money for Brian he apparently just answered: I wanna see the movie.
GH has always been my favorite Beatle, and I listen to his solo work FAR more than that of the others.
A few months ago I checked out of the library a beautiful coffee table book called “George Harrison – Living in the Material World”. It goes thru his early fame with Beatles and his solo career, and the latter part of the book describes his growing interest and participation in eastern mysticism and spirituality and such. Gorgeous photographs too. (and I also love “Here comes the Sun”.)
Living in a Material World is also a documentary by Scorsese about Harrison. I believe it is available on Net Flicks.
I came upon this a few weeks ago when searching for something else… great still photos and footage. I smiled through the whole thing… very sweet!
Chypre Siam for today. Yesterday I thunked a sample of Jil Sander Evergreen, which Noone ever mentioned here. It was nice for 3 minutes, then it was gone. After that I wore Pour La Belle, exclusive of the Schlossparfumerie Stuttgart. If you like Chypres and live in Germany, then give it a try!
I think you are the first person I have ever seen even mention Jil Sander Evergreen.
Starting the community project with Notorious, which I mostly own because of it is work appropriate. None of my “work appropriate” perfumes are ever mentioned here.
Like what, for example? I’m always looking for work appropriate and I manage by spraying less of a perfume of questionable ilk.
Kenzo eau d’ete, modern muse le rouge, iris nobile, bucheron place vendome, basically anything mainstream that’s mostly floral and not too loud. Otherwise I just wear a drop my preferred woody, masculine scents like SL Chene(FB). Or lots of drops of 28 la Pausa (sample).
Ha! The only one I have and wear is 28 La Pausa EDT. I wear 8 sprays, still office safe and lasts all day ?
I definitely have worn Iris Nobile few times in the last several months. The edt, which I really like.
Wearing Honeysuckle Bird which I don’t recall anyone else mentioning. Actually, I usually don’t see any Soivohle scents mentioned. Yesterday I was commando except for sunscreen and salt water (catamaran sail, snorkeling, hanging out in the ocean) but apparently not enough sunscreen since I’ m quite pink. Today we slept until noon and are mostly staying in until we leave for a farm to table experience at a different hotel
I had a sample of Honeysuckle Bird several years ago. I like it quite a lot but never bought it.
I’ve heard/read Jalapeno mention Liz Zorn samples quite often in the past.
I have a few small bottles, so thanks for the reminder!
thegoddessrena is the person who got me interested in Soivohle perfumes a few years ago. Her descriptions created a lemming stampede. I now have both small bottles and samples of quite a few Soivohle scents.
I love Honeysuckle Bird but am pretty sure I used up my mini a year or two ago.
Don’t think it’s a unicorn, but I needed to wear Climat finally, after getting it from the freebie meet. Nice!
Had to wait awhile to spritz it on because….the real unicorn of the day is the fact I went to the gym for the first time in forever. Just easy peasy on the elliptical, some stretches, sit ups and squats. Hoping to do more weight work soon.
Must be something in the air. I just purchased running shoes for the first time in eons and checked out the registration dates for the St. Jude’s half marathon. Last time I ran that, Obama had just been elected!
Happy Mardi Gras y’all! I’m no longer a bead “ho” but I’m celebrating with sparkles Agent Provocateur Diamond Dust Edition. It’s a bit of a unicorn, smells better than the original A.P. and glitters!!!
Yes, glitter itself is unicorn-y around here!
I’m sure that some of NSTers have this perfume in their collection but I don’t remember seeing it in SOTD threads in a while: Belle Du Soir created by Le Labo for Anthropologie in 2010. Today it doesn’t lean masculine as it does sometimes, and I keep wondering why I don’t wear it more often.
I remember someone reviewing these perfumes. Maybe you? I wished I’d tried them when I could.
I had a post about two of perfumes from this line years ago: https://undina.com/2013/08/22/le-labo-belle-du-soir-and-poudre-dorient/ (not that it matters now since the only place these can be found is eBay, more expensive than were their MSRP, and I don’t think they were out long enough to get loyal fans who’d want to pay those prices; and it’s not a blind-buy candidate).
Drumroll please… I’m officially 30 since yesterday.
For my birthday I wore Prada Amber Pour Homme.
Today it’s Memo Italian Leather mood.
Both are solid choices! Happy birthday!!!
Happy Birthday ??
Happy Birthday Lucas!
Happy Birthday, Lucas. I just bought a travel spray of Memo Italian Leather from Twisted Lily @ 30% off!
Many happy returns of the day, lucasai, and you smell wonderful!
Happy Birthday & enjoy your 30’s!!!
Happy birthday Lucasai!
I probably should’ve saved this for Friday, but I was digging around in my minis for unicorns and found this one: Rykiel Woman (Not for Men!). Don’t see this mentioned. It does, indeed, smell like Barbara Bui, but with a dose of black pepper.
Had the day off, recovering from a tooth extraction. So far, not too bad…
I hope the rest of your recovery goes just as smoothly.
Thank you! Me too ??
I think ? has a few Rykiels, but I can’t remember which one’s.
Hope you recover quickly from the extraction!
He probably does! And I think maybe johanob? And for some reason I associate the Rykiels with Perth Girl who used to comment here.
Ugh, been there. I hope you feel better.
Yuck. I had some impacted teeth removed as a teen. No fun at all. Hope that you heal quickly and without complications.
Not my idea of fun, either, but the worst part was the 1.5 hour wait beforehand. The procedure itself took about 5 minutes ?
Cheating today in a genuine unicorn made in Singapore from Jetaime Perfumery, where I got a custom perfume made from orchid oils this winter. It’s a great experience and one I highly recommend if you’re in SG.
The main note is Nun’s Hood orchid which has a wonderful spicy scent, but obviously the scent is also quite floral and vanillic as well. Not great longevity but super unique and brings back great memories.
This sounds great! Enjoy your unicorn.
Bespoke is usually unicorn unless you’re the sharing type like chocolatemarzipan ?
I have lots of the orchid one actually if anyone is in Canada and wants a sample!
My second bespoke (from a different perfumery, much smaller bottle) was, sadly, completely gone in 6 weeks because I was changing cities every night for 4 weeks running, and it was constantly being stored sideways or upside down ?
The perks of work travel: getting to have experiences like that.
The downside of work travel: you don’t always get to decide when you’re going home ?
Anything made with orchid oils sounds gorgeous.
I was thinking of continuing on through my decades eek! of unicorns, but I just went hiking through the forest in the rain and the trilliums are up. Not a unicorn but from a rarely mentioned house, I’m wearing Trillium by House of Matriarch.
Happy Birthday! Oh I liked that one. You smell great.
I am wearing Renee L’eau. It is a nice green scent (works well for the warmer day we’re having here). I’d have to say it’s a unicorn, as i just don’t see much mention of it any more.
Oh, agree — had not heard about it in so long I’d forgotten about it!
Watching the rain come down and the cats run for the heat vents when the furnace comes on. ☔??
SOTD = SSS Incense Pure EdP, from my travel spray. No unicorn scent here. I feel the need for incense this week. Maybe there’s an incense-scented unicorn in my sample stash somewhere? ?
There must be one!
Welp, hanging out with a trusty old horse today in Lalique Encre Noir. Just got back from Big Bend where a group of us were doing a wilderness medicine practicum and loved it! Highly recommend checking out the old mercury mine if you make it out there with a 4wd vehicle.
What is a wilderness medicine practicum That sounds very interesting.
We practiced scenarios in resource limited medicine and how we should handle them – asthma, anaphylaxis, hypothermia, hypoglycemia, stroke, heart attack, mass casualty (ours was a lightning strike). It was a ton of fun and really useful for life.
Wow, that does sound so cool!
Ditto AngelaB’s question. Is it an EMT in the wilderness sort of thing–rescues? Or something else?
It sounded so cool I got distracted from your perfume choice–an old standby for me too!
Is a mercury mine the most healthful thing in the world?
Nope! There are signs saying not to touch anything… XD
Shiseido Inoui for my unicorn today. I know I am not completely alone as Holly has some – and maybe others? It’s so beautiful!
I have it too.
No unicorns in my area today. SOTD is Le Cri de La Lumiere.
Maybe not a unicorn, but beautiful!
SoTD: MM Whispers in the Library. This is a small decant from Sephora.
It is primarily vanilla and alittle bit of woods, sweet and not really that ‘soft’ and I like it somehow. It is cozy it is not normally my thing. It is my unicorn.
Someone mentioned Tocca yesterday so I pulled out my Cleopatra rollerball.
