Saturday is World Yoga Day (not to be confused with the International Day of Yoga, which is in June) and World Thinking Day. While you're thinking about yoga, and about what weird holidays might be happening on Sunday and Monday, we're holding a special edition 3 day open thread poll — I am on the road and won't be able to post again until Tuesday.
Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, your favorite fragrance for doing yoga, or thinking, or thinking about doing yoga, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

World yoga day!
Lavender and patchouli and Tibetan Mountain Temple remind me of being in yoga class
SOTD Paprika Brazil
Paprika Brasil! Love those Hermessences. Thank you for the inspiration – I may change my mind and wear Poivre Samarcande instead of Gaiac.
The PS will fit well with yoga this morning. Then Gaiac later. 😀
???
Go Hermessences! When I read “yoga” day I immediately thought of my sotd. 😀
I have a sample of TMT somewhere, today I will find it! It’s beautiful.
It really is an amazing scent! Can’t understand why it was discontinued.
I wore Arte Profumi Samharam to yoga the other day, an incense scent. Not for the first time, someone said, Wow, it smells good in here! Assuming it is an ambient smell, not someone wearing perfume. Always gives me an inner chuckle.
I just love this ??
Sounds like you found your yoga class fragrance!!
I just tried Paprika Brasil this past week and liked it very much.
It’s a very unusual iris to my nose. I’m glad you like it too ?
Happy Saturday! World Yoga Day – fits in well with my plans to (finally) finish my Adriene 30 days of yoga journey which she does every January. I’m on Day 30 – not usually this far behind, but it’s all good and of course, this is not the end of my yoga practice. (She’s online – check her out if you’re interested: yogawithadriene.com.)
Wish I had a dab of SL Encens et Lavande for this, but I don’t. Maybe I will search out a sample as it sounds so perfect. Instead I’ll wear a bit of Micallef Gaiac.
Love Yoga with Adriene!
Adriene makes my yoga-self happy 😀
Mr Marzipan introduced me to yoga with Adriene!! I love her videos!!
I had some minor surgery in January and was not supposed to exercise for a week. Instead I did her Yoga Day 8 Home “Heal” several days and it was so calming and felt so good. Highly recommended for anyone who can’t work out, but needs a little calm. ♥ Adriene.
She really does have videos for everything!!!
Adrienne is AMAZING!
I plug her in when I need a lift and enjoy every second. 🙂
Oh, you’re having a longer weekend? Lucky you! Mine is a regular one this time.
I’m wearing Dusita Splendiris today.
We are about to have tea/coffee and cake with my parents.
Happy birthday ????
Happy birthday to you!
Happy Scented Birthday! ???
Forgot to add that I am drinking Double Milk Oolong Tea… highly recommend it.
Your tea sounds amazing!
It’s absolutely delicious. New from Republic of Tea.
Their original Milk Oolong is sensational. I can’t imagine how good the Double would be. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the heads up on the new tea! I order from Republic of Tea fairly often, so I will keep it in mind.
SOTM is Heeley Cuir Pleine Fleur – didn’t know it was World Yoga Day, but CPF is a good one for doing yoga, or just thinking about doing it (which is what I’m doing now). But first: coffee. ☕️
Love that perfume!
Me too!
I love that one, and the bottle is so pretty.
Wearing Jo Malone Blackberry&Bay–love that combination of sour and sweet!
I am going to a Quilt Show, so no yoga class for me this morning, but I will fit in some time for yoga later today.
Happy Weekend, everyone!
B&B is a wonderful scent. You smell great!
Thanks, Tiffanie!
Forgive me, Donnatella for I have sinned. I used my Sephora gift cards and got myself Coco Mademoiselle. I got the 1.2 ounce bottle because I don’t need a larger bottle. Spending the day in SDV. I going to my aunt’s house and staying over and all I will be taking is SDV and Havana Vanille.
two thumbs up! 😀
Congratulations on your bottle
Enjoy your new bottle!
The fragrances that come to mind when I think about yoga are LUSH Breath of God,Pacifica Tibetan Mountain Temple and Doterra Whisper.I like to think about yoga more than do it in all honesty.
Kinda like me and meditation….
LOL oh yes on the meditation. 🙂
Yes to that too.
Hair day!!
Be glad when foot healed and boot gone so I can work out.
I think post shower some more Indochine just because I love it so.
Love getting my hair done. How much longer in the boot?
Three more weeks?
Indochine is so great. Enjoy!
SotD = Iris Ukiyoe
hahahaha! bird yoga! I adore the photo up top today.
I love to wear IU anytime and especially when yoga is on my schedule. Today I will do an hour+ of vinyasa with Jessie, my favorite local teacher. She adds Pilates moves. I love it all. Yoga/bike/walk/jump rope is on the to-do list for today, which I made last night, along with chores and catching up on life.
I woke up early this morning, unusual for me on Saturday. Typically I’m worn out from a busy week, but I didn’t have any teaching assignments yesterday. So I went to IKEA! Fun stuff.
So I really should get to it and get things done. But it’s great to check in here first and get my perfume fix. 😀
Hope you have a super Saturday, perfume pals!
‘catching up on life’–Yes!!!
😀 it’s good to feel caught up.
Early is the best time to go to IKEA. Did you have some Swedish meatballs?!?
ha! I made it in and out of IKEA before noon, that’s early enough on a weekend. 😀 Skipped the meatballs this time but enjoyed a bar of chocolate with hazelnuts.
Your plans sound great – hope it’s a wonderful weekend!
thanks, springpansy! 😀 It’s been good so far.
Does anyone know where I can find Abdul Kareem Egyptian Musk? Tried Amazon and ebay, it’s like it has disappeared over night. Wearing Costes 2 as I scroll thru the internet….
I don’t, but my favorite Egyptian Musk has also disappeared so you have my sympathies!
SotD is 10 Corso Como. I will probably thunk my decant this weekend and then add this one to the buy list.
The sun is out and it’s beautiful today. Plan to get out for a nice walk and soak up some rays.?
I made the most delicious Shepherd’s Pie last night for dinner. I am addicted to this comfort food! It’s the fourth time I’ve made it in a month, lol. Luckily my husband and daughter love it too so no complaints from them.
You smell great Madtowngirl! I keep dithering over whether or not to buy another bottle of the lotion, it is so nice.
PdE Musc Tonkin for a rainy day. No plans, were just winging it today due to the weather. ?
I wore that yesterday. You smell wonderful.
Thanks! For some reason, I’m always prepared for a musk bomb, but the dry down on me is a warm and fuzzy floral. Do you get flowers when you wear it?
Yes–first a fleeting BO, then musk, then I smell a rose note and some jasmine and other flowers I can’t identify.
Rainy day here too, lounging around reading, waiting for Fedex to show up with a pkg that requires a signature.
Sounds much more exciting than my day! Is the delivery perfume related, by chance?
Why yes it is. 🙂 Used my points at Fragrancebuy to get a bottle of Van Cleef & Arpels Roses Rouges. It’s a lovely jammy rose.
Shalimar
Greek coffee
Beautiful sunny day
Be safe on the road Robin
You smell divine
I have a 1960s vintage Shalimar EDC gifted to me by a dear perfumista friend and I treasure it
I have some EDC from a NSTer
My favorite is still the vanille Madagascar flanker. It’s smokey and the vanilla is just right
The vanille Madagascar is awesome. I have two bottles of the Mexican version. I hope Guerlain brings them back.
I smelled the Mexican version, it was nice but not as smokey.
Why does Guerlain discontinue all the good ones…
Thanks! Easy drive to Richmond in the sunshine today. Back to DC tomorrow, then flying to Portland Monday. Just moving about the east coast for various family things 🙂
I’m wearing Ginger Piccante for the second time. At first I didn’t smell anything but the ginger, but the rose finally made and appearance.
You smell great!
I feel like wearing a BWF today. Maybe EL Tuberose Gardenia.
If you are looking for something to read, I’ve just finished two very good books. Lily and the Octopus, by Steven Rowley, and The Girl With the Louding Voice, by Abi Dare. Lily is a dachshund and the Octopus is a tumor, so you can guess what’s happening, but the writing is wonderful. Stay away if you don’t like magical realism–both Lily and the Octopus talk. The Girl With the Louding Voice is about a girl, Adunni, sold into marriage by her father at age 14 and how she manages to eventually attain her goal of bettering herself. Written in a unique style of English, I thought it was a great way of capturing both her impoverished origins and the vector of her change.
Interesting
Thanks for the great book descriptions foxbins! We need to have a spring reading poll.
(But first I guess we need to have spring. Ha.)
I’m jumping on the Hermessence train with Osmanthe Yunnan. I’m hoping the brightness will pick me up and propel me forward through a productive day of grading online assignments…..
Yay Hermessence! Thanks again, L! Hope you’re able to get out after grading.
Rainbow Bar, cuz, well, that’s the way this morning is rolling. Have an article to bang out today–but am hoping to get out for a walk. Happy Saturday everyone.
Enjoy your walk
I’m trying Sumo Wrestler by J-Scent, one of the many samples from Scentspirit. I had no idea what to expect from the name, but I didn’t expect a soft powdery scent! It’s got a little too much heliotrope for me to want to wear often, but I’m enjoying it right now – it’s appropriately soft and cuddly for a cold wet morning.
Sounds cozy, enjoy
Ooh, I love heliotrope, I want to try it now!
I sniffed that one at Scent Bar when I was last in LA. Whathisname who works there said that the perfume was based on the traditional oil that Sumo wrestlers wear on their body and in their hair–something like that.
I think i’s camellia oil.
As I recall, Sumo Wrestler was one of the scents I liked best in that package of samples from J-Scent, but I found none of them had much longevity.
I’m wearing Mugler Aura for work tonight. It’s 45 degrees here. Fake spring, but I will take it. Alot of people say Aura smells green and like a rainforest but honestly, if you take the bottle out of the equation, it smells like vanilla. I’ve never smelled a rainforest, but I’m pretty sure this is not the smell.
Enjoy your fake spring Lillyjo, it’s very mild here too, and when the sun was out it was warming the air as if it were spring already. Well, vanilla sounds good at any rate (I haven’t smelled Aura).
Thanks! I’m enjoying it. The sun is rising earlier every day, I just love it?
You smell great! And I get a slightly green, mostly vanilla smell from Aura too.
Yeah, I get something green too, but not a normal green. Maybe that’s the smell of an Aura ?
I tried about 6 Narciso Rodriguez scents. Can’t remember their names, could barely smell what was going on either. Odd that, I can usually smell musks, but apparently the NR musks are undetectable to me.
Pretty sure I’ve read that from others re NR specifically.
It was really strange and ended up being really amusing. I kept spraying paper strips and sniffing and barely able to detect anything at all.
So far that has only happened to me with MFK Baccarat Rouge 540. But it’s such a strange feeling: I know I sprayed something here that other people are loving and I can’t smell a thing!
I can’t smell BR540 either and most of the NR scents smell the same to me, like synthetic musk.
I can smell most of the MFK’s allright. My favourites are Grand Soir and Absolue pour le Soir, which is the dirtiest musk I own.
Those two I can smell just fine as well.
Yep, me! At least, can’t smell all the original NR For Her things. I can smell Narciso just fine.
It was so sunny today, that i dug out my bottle of Terracotta for a early summer feeling. Had a thai massage today and now a nice white wine from Burgundy.
Your day sounds very relaxing! Keep enjoying it!
Been on a bit of a diet–and plan to continue it as a lifestyle change (I’ve been pretty unhealthy)–but oooh goodness do I miss wine, especially a late afternoon dry white on the weekends. I don’t have to swear off altogether, so last night I had my first drop in five weeks–a spicy California Zin. There is no substitute. Sigh! (However, the app I am using, Noom, has encouraged me to make a wine spritzer with soda water in wine to cut calories–I have not been tempted).
You can try a soda water mixed with some cocktail bitters, feels like a cocktail, but almost no calories!
Tauer L’Eau for a bright, warm, sunny day. Happy weekend, everyone!
Happy weekend to you too. I didn’t know there was an Eau from Tauer, but then I haven’t smelled any AT scents, do you have a favorite?
Thank you, Aurora. Tauer L’Eau is a lemony, creamy, powdery scent. It is a cologne, but it never worked for me on warm weather. Too overwhelming. I like it more on colder temps.
My favorite Tauer is Phi Une Rose de Kandahar.
Thank you so much, l’eau sounds very pretty and there is always space for a great rose in my life 🙂 will put Phi on my sample list.
Butting in politely to mention that my favorite Tauers are Le Maroc pour Elle and L’Air du Desert Morocain. You definitely have to like patchouli for the Le Maroc, though.
Vintage Shalimar edt paired with a bit of the body creme today. I am feeling a bit ambitious to do things inside as it’s back to cool, rainy weather.
I have spaghetti sauce on the go along with maybe a bit purging my closet. Spring can’t be far off, can it?
Spring is close! 🙂
My flight yesterday took off 4hrs later than it was supposed to because they ended up switching planes. Our connecting flight in San Juan had been cancelled, although we landed after its supposed take off. We got a voucher for the airport hotel and food but after spending close to 12 hours in airports and in flight, we decided to go into Old San Juan for dinner and went to a seafood restaurant. I know I’m in the Islands when my meal involves fresh conch. Hanging around the airport until our 5:15 flight. This is all very dull. Wearing the lovely tropical gardenia of Chantecaille Le Wild
How was San Juan, we are going at some point this year
Well, we weren’t exactly vacationing in San Juan. The San Juan Airport Hotel would not be my first choice – – loudspeakers and planes in the middle of the night, no beach, located at the end of a deserted former baggage claim but it was free because of the mechanical problems
What a pain! Are you heading out or returning? Best of luck with the rest of the trip!
Such a drag, that happened to me years ago on a trip to Barbados. Hope your next flight goes without a hitch!
So sorry! Hope you get to St Kitts soon thegoddessrena.
That photo of the bird is too cute, of course he is displaying to find a mate not doing yoga but it fits, you always find the best photos Robin. Safe travels.
For thinking I like citrus, I swear I am more intelligent when wearing CD Eau Fraiche.
After Jil Sander Sun, this evening I changed to Molinard Chypre Charnel which is smelling very plush.
Thank you!
The name even sounds plush!
Ah, true. The drydown of oakmoss, vetiver and patchouli is somewhat reminiscent me of Habanita from the same house which I love even more.
SOTD is long d/c YR Ode a l’amour, a softly-spiced plum/black currant, lovely on our third day in a row of blue sky and bright sunshine. Temps going into the mid-50’s tomorrow with more sunshine before winter returns next week.
I also enjoy Pacifica Mountain Temple Incense for yoga, as well as YSL Nu, Barbara Bui Le Parfum, and YR Neonatura Cocoon. Incense and patchouli say ‘yoga’ to me.
If you can’t do yoga today but need some zen in your life, take a few minutes, climb down into a cool, peaceful cavern, close your eyes and listen to the soothing cello sounds of Ian Maksin, and just breathe . . .

I can’t wait until 50s tomorrow!
Hi all!
After a particularly ill week and what seemed like a huge love-in for it in the comments, I bought a bottle of Theorema blind, the EdP. And yes, it is perfection. I’m glad I pulled the trigger. I think I got a great deal on it too, as I got a big full 100ml bottle for less than the 50ml bottles were listed for.
Have a great weekend!
Glad you are feeling better and congrats on your new bottle!
I’m so glad. Someone here bought it blind a few weeks (or months, I can’t remember) ago and didn’t like it.
Congratulations Coumarin! When will you wear next? I did the same thing awhile ago, it was fun even if alittle scary. Ha!! Aren’t we the adrenaline junkies ???
Congrats on the new bottle! The prices on Theorema has gotten frightening. I am happy that I really stocked up when the prices were still somewhat reasonable.
Did you get that on eBay?
Rainy day here, cozied up with the dog and lots of Arquiste Anima Dulcis.
A beautiful gourmand!
Great choice!
Back from brunch and a quick trip to the record store and feeling extremely lazy. I slept too much last night, and as a consequence felt drowsy when I finally woke up at 8:20 (I fell asleep on he couch a little after 9 and then went to bed around 10:30). I should probably shower soon to try to wake myself up more. I’m wearing Füm Ariose from my new 15ml bottle, so I smell amazing. I get mostly bitter almond. The little 15ml bottles are truly adorable. I’ll probably buy the same size of Nerola eventually.
Thanks everyone for your well-wishes yesterday. I showed my husband all the comments and he was so impressed that such community exists online. I told him it’s a smell-thing.
Mini yasmina is doing much much better. Yay for antibiotics!
I felt like l’instant today.
So glad to hear the good news, may she have a speedy and complete recovery!
Oh I’m so glad! You must be so relieved.
Glad the antibiotics are working! Sorry, I didn’t get to comment yesterday. I hope she is better soon.
Great news!
Wonderful news about mini yasmina! Sending continued “Get Well” vibes.
Yoga stressed me out so unless I feel like being stressed, no yoga for me!
I’m starting unicorn scents today. I have not seen this mentioned. Several years ago, I swapped with someone who pretty much only shows up during NST special events ykwim so unless the person decides to comment here, my MAINSTREAM (Yes!) Unicorn for today
SOTD = Valentino Valentino Uomo
Alas my bottle is the transparent glass one…there was a limited edition all black bottle which would have been a delight to own. In any case, the juice is what counts, right? Ha! It’s woody, hazelnut, leather and what I thought was vetiver but Fragrantica says it’s bergamot…what do I know? It is very good. So good that I perused Fragrancenet and got myself travel sprays of the Intense and Noir Absolue versions and since I wanted to get to free shipping, I saw a Shalimar Souffle Intense bottle so I got that too.
I decided to peruse Twisted Lily because 30% off (THIRTYOFF as mentioned by LizzieB yesterday and from about ten thousand emails), put items in my cart and paid via PayPal. For the first time ever, I got this notice and email: “To comply with government regulations, PayPal is required to review certain transactions. The payment you sent is currently being reviewed and we will complete this process within 72 hours. This review only involves this transaction and does not affect the use of your PayPal account.” Perhaps the going out of business is what’s happening per cazaubon. It’s sad. I have not been to it in about two years because it was inconvenient for me so unless there’s a compelling reason such as an event or if I am meeting someone (you have to be very special for me to want to go out of my way), I don’t make a special trip just to shop (plus, if I shop in-store, I end up having to pay NYC sales tax vs no tax online).
In more other news, darn cell phone users. I was at the mall this afternoon and I took an escalator down. I was two escalator steps behind this woman who stupidly decided to stop dead as soon as she stepped off the escalator to continue chatting on her cell phone. I had to shout YOU HAVE TO MOVE for her to quickly step out of the way. It could have been really ugly as I’m about twice her size and would have bumped hard into her with both of us tumbling down to the ground had she not been quick to move out of the way.
Yoga stresses you out? How?
I bought Arquiste Anima Dulcis (backup bottle) and Kai deodorant, no paypal issues. It must have been a random thing. A couple of Basenoters said they went to the TL shop and got amazing deals on partially used testers, they are definitely closing down. So sad.
And I totally agree about clueless escalator users. I swear people think they are alone in the world. We were next to a truck ysterday that was swerving in its lane and when we passed them I could see the driver was texting. What is wrong with people?
Yoga stressed me out because I am not very coordinated, the class just seemed to go on and on and the corpse pose felt like the silence void when people who get along get together and have nothing to say to each other.
Good for you on getting your back up bottle. The PayPal thing was very unusual. Maybe TL was getting a lot of payments through PayPal and mine just happened to be randomly picked. Ugh. But it is pretty sad about its closing. Hopefully to bigger, better, different things for Eric and Stamatis.
LOL on your yoga description. 🙂
Stamatis was always super nice and helpful to me, I wish him and Eric all the best for future endeavours.
Yay for Shalimar Souffle Intense! I keep debating on getting the luminaire. They are both a great deal now. Have you ever seen the most recent one with orange? I have not, and am waiting for it to pop up at a discounter hopefully.
I don’t know about the orange version but you get a shopping enabler’s pin ?. I looked at Fragrancenet again, added the Luminaire to my cart. While I ultimately took it out of my cart, I placed a 2nd order ?
Yay me! Lol! What was the second order?
A bunch of Elie Saab Essence minis (someone here should get the enabler pins I think) and Cartier Les Heures samples.
I bought 5 candles from Twisted Lily last night. Sadly, there wasn’t any perfume left that I wanted to buy, but I’m still happy with my candles.
My payment finally got through. Enjoy your candles!
Yay!
Paprika Brasil paired with Wrappings body smoother.
Let me guess ?…Paprika Brasil all day everyday until you switch ?
LOL ?
Yes, probably ?♥️
Hi there, NST!
No yoga for me this weekend. However, after a couple of weeks of feeling that my life was running away from me or that I was being rolled by a huge wave and barely coming up for air, I had an unexpectedly nice weekend. Had my hair cut on Friday and it was a small thing, but felt like a huge treat! Today we had lunch at a restaurant with sweeping views onto a river and the kids were their teenaged, observant (read: funny and astute comments on other diners!) selves and I really felt blessed. Goes to show, time is perhaps the biggest luxury of all, and the 21st century has made us slaves to the clock and busy-ness. SOTD is L’Artisan Mon Numero 8 which has slowly been growing on me – I seem to share a lot of likes with Katie Pukrick.
Your weekend sounds lovely Amyitis!
Well Hallooooo friends!!
Phew.What a week/weekend!Lol!
So busy at work, and had an engagement party AND a bachelors to attend this weekend. All was superfun!
My week in Perfumes:
Montale Crystal Flowers
ELdO Bendelirious
Comme de garçons 88….8….lol
Vintage Balmain Ivoire….ohhhhhh yesss baby,I forgot how good this one is!!
Dior J’Adore, the original formulation, which I scored from a pretty awesome sale.
What else…think I wore Miroir de Majestes last week? It’s all a blur with being inundated with surgeries at work.We seldom if ever finish before 8pm these days, which is good and bad.The GREAT part is we have a contract with Botswana health to help alleviate their backlog of retina surgeries. The joy when someone can SEE again makes up for the long days.
Catching up on comments now,but obviously you all had a FABULOUS GOODSMELLING WEEK!
LOTS of love and hugs all around!
Johanob.
Lol.
XX
Love your week…too busy to get in trouble but you lived for the weekend!
How’s the CdG 888?
8 88 is pretty awesome, methinks. It’s definitely spicy, especially in the late drydown.I smell the saffron and patchouli the most. Also there is a papyrus note listed, but I guess that is what gives it a tea-vibe?It shapeshifted during a working day,so much so that I wasn’t entirely sure what I was wearing at one stage…lol(old age/bad memory haha)
It’s definitely a strange one,but I like it a lot.
Glad the weekend was fun! You are peaking my interest in Crystal Flowers!, but Montale always scares me, because of the bottles im afraid they will smell metallic.
No need to be scared. The metallic bottles are actually awesome, and always cool to the touch, which satisfies my OCD about storage and temperature shifts.I have four Montale perfumes, and none of them smells metallic to me,so I don’t think that should be a concern.
My YSL Rive Gauche and Comptoir sud Pacifique perfumes are also all unaffected by the container. You should really seek out Crystal Flowers,it’s a sugared frozen rose/tropical flower-ish sexy scent.Sillage and longevity cannot be more perfect, and I spray fairly lightly because its not easily available.
Let me know if you get to try it!XO
I commented to the SA at ZGO that Montale bottles put me off and he pointed out that because they aren’t transparent, the perfume should last longer in them.
Good to see you catch up. Great choices of perfume. Not overdoing it workwise I hope you can decompress.
Well thank you Aurora!
Yes to decompress…haha!
a Fun weekend does the trick.
Hope yours is good too?
✌??
Thank you, It’s been great but went so fast (sigh).
Sounds like a very fun weekend! Lots of celebrations.
You have Ivoire! I love that one; thanks for the nudge. And you mentioned Rive Gauche; my sister had the blue spray canister when we were kids; I remember stealing a spray (or 2) regularly when she wasn’t in her room. When I was recently back home, I asked her about it and sadly its long gone. Does yours happen to be vintage or new?
Ivoire is such a classic perfume, despite the UGLY packaging!(vintage in black/beige stripey box).Rive Gauche is also vintage,in the stripey blue(female) and brown(male) cannisters.Scores from a perfume shop that closed down, hoarding many treasures, selling them at ridiculously low prices when the closed down(Jicky Parfum!!)
Not having too many serious perfumistas around here makes vintage finds fairly easy!Lol!
I emailed you earlier Gail!
XO
G!ad you found some great scents, even better at super prices! I may be on the hunt for Rive Gauche.
I got your email; thank you!! Will be in touch.
Busy busy, but you must feel good about doing such valuable work. Career satisfaction is a rare thing these days. You had a great smelling week! Hope the weekend was relaxing. I’m flopped out with the dog again, my favourite activity.
Haha!Awesome! The cutie you mailed me a pic of?Such a sweetheart!
And thanks!Yes we work hard, and probably complain harder, but it really is a great job,and I work with awesome people for a really great Ophthalmic hospital.
Happy Weekend T!XO
So happy you had a good week (and smelling good too)
Take good care!
Abbraccio!
Thanks my friend! We need a good catchup on books and perfume!XO
SOTD = Tauer Dark Passage
Tobacco, patchouli and birch tar. ❤️❤️❤️
https://www.instagram.com/p/B86ju8MB3f3/?igshid=n4ewdzcyshe3
If you live in the U.S. and have Dark Passage that you are willing to part with, let’s discuss swap!
On the love note trajectory, I am offering freebies to U.S. readers (or anyone with a U.S. mule). The rules are: 1) you must be a regular (for this freebie, you’ve posted your SOTD 5x in 2020 before this freebie post). If you’re not sure that you’re a regular, you’re probably not; 2) You did not dibs for a freebie during the most recent Freebiemeet; 3) Dibs here with your choice; 4) Email me – get contact info by clicking my username
Everyone gets 10mLs of my SOTD yesterday (Valentino Valentino Uomo) in a glass atomizer and 20 mLs of one of the following Lush body spray in a plastic atomizer*:
1) Twilight
2) Yog Nog
3) Turmeric Latte
*The 40mL atomizer will be filled approximately halfway.
Hey, I’m a regular, right? Dibs on #3.
Got your email!
Lol.
If you are still accepting dibs I would love to try the Valentino!
Yes. And you also get to pick either LUSH Twilight or Yog Nog Body Spray.
It’s me. I am in Shalimar Ode a la Vanille over that bourbon vanilla goats milk lotion that my mother got me. I am not so fond of straight up vanilla perfumes or lotions. The smokiness and skank of Shalimar is making the lotion bearable.
Perfect then!
Wearing Ormaie L’Ivrée Bleue today, it is a soft gourmand with rum, vanilla, cacao and iris. Wish there was a store closer than Los Angeles to test them all, but I have no perfume budget left for this year anyway so I guess that’s okay. Maybe next year they will be more widely available.
Oh that perfume sounds plush!Enjoy!??
Wow, that really does sound nice.
I don’t buy alot of perfume anyway but I like the idea of having a budget so I can shop guilt-free
I’m in the remaking wafts of PdE Musc Tonkin since I’m wearing the same t-shirt as yesterday. I think day 2 smells even better. ?
Nice!
Off and on showers today, right now they are off and it’s sunny. I’m wearing Box of Eels.
Yay for sun, yay for Box of Eels.
So I spent some lovely moments sniffing some lovely scents while I hoped for a souvenir of my vacation. Thank you California NST friends for the recommendation of ZGO as the place to go; I was assisted by a knowledgeable man who understood that I wanted a sort of olfactory memory of Maui and California. Eventually it came down to a choice between Acqua di scandala from Parfum d’Empire and Sensuality from Pierre Guillaume. I finally chose the latter. The notes listed on the box are lemon, kumquat, ginger, orange blossom, sandalwood and white musk. I think it will be very wearable and give me good vibes when I do wear it, but Acqua di scandala is on my “to buy” list for the future.
I had a great experience shopping at ZGO last year, they were friendly and helpful but also just let us browse & sniff. Perfect CS! I’m glad you found something that worked for you!
Well, I noticed that my tiny decant of Vintage Diorling was showing signs of evaporation, so I thunked it. I will miss it dearly, but just for today I smell amazing.
Glad you got to wear it again, it is such a great scent!
Hi all. I’m checking in. Busy yesterday but a beautiful day. I saw Bombshell finally and liked it, though it was very disturbing in some ways, so I can’t say I enjoyed it. I wore Calligraphy Rose, thanks to a generous person here. Today I feel like I’m coming down with a cold. I slept in, made myself a big delicious omelette, but now am back in bed with Hugo. Who is a gray tabby cat. I’m wearing a small spray of my new bottle of Akowa by Micallef. Off to zzzzz’s.
Hope you beat off that cold Calypso!
Several bright and sunny days in a row have done wonders for my disposition! ???
SOTWeekend = SSS Incense Pure. When I sniffed the travel spray, it smelled like a drier cousin of LAdDM. On me, though, it doesn’t resemble that at all. It is a dry frankincense scent with a touch of black pepper and pine needles. It doesn’t have the unbelievable longevity on me that the Tauer does, either. I do enjoy it as a calming and grounding incense perfume. Everyone needs at least one of those in their perfume wardrobe.
Isn’t it amazing what a little sunlight will do?
Yes it is! Hope that your travels are going well and safely Robin!
Me too Jalepeno – I’m a different person with sun
I’ve considered getting one of those “happy magic lights” for use in the wintertime.
Yes get one! They have helped me alot. The trick is to use it first thing in the morning. I also got a sun alarm clock and that’s made a big difference too. I also saw an integrative physician and we came up with a supplement plan to combat the winter blues. I got tired of feeling so sad every winter
Commando today. Got in to St Kitts last night and went to a beach restaurant to have rum punch and conch fritters while having my feet in the sand. We went in the ocean today and we’ll be going to a restaurant tonight where they serve the fish that they’ve personally caught that day
That sounds so wonderful. Enjoy your vacation!
YAY! ????
I wish I were there too! Have fun
PSA post: I saw something unusual on FragranceX’s website the other day when I was browsing. Their popup discount window was in a language that I did not recognize, and was different from the rest of the website. I don’t know if that means their site has been hacked, or if a malicious script has been installed but I would advise anyone to use caution anyway. Buyer be aware!
Almost scentless this entire weekend – definitely needed a recovery from the crazy-early-AM cross Canada flights that comprised the latter half of my week and didn’t want to associate anything with how shattered I felt.
Today, mostly better, I lit my Diptyque Shanghai candle in the living room for a nice calming dose of osmanthus-green-tea though, and then put on one tiny spritz of Jorum Studios Nectary to get a coffee and groceries.
? Nectary. The 15 mLs are so so cute!
Nice weekend here. Got up crack of dawn Saturday for a volunteer thing, then joined my husband for a showing of Princess Mononoke followed by dim sum. Quick visit to Trader Joe’s and baked a chicken tortilla casserole for that evening. All while wearing Kiss Me Intense, which stayed around for much for the day.
Early church this morning, followed by a lecture by an author and then brunch nearby with a small group of folks from church whom I didn’t know. It’s part of a thing where you sign up and are put together with a random group for a meal. Turned out to be a really nice time getting to know some people better. Now listening to my husband’s random commentary on some golf tournament.
Multiple spritzes of Baiser de Russie are making me smell good.
Years and years ago Princess Mononoke was my gateway to Studio Ghibli movies!
So good to see them appearing on Netflix this year. ?
Never heard of it but I bet you smell gooooood!
Oops, this comment was meant for kalihigirl68 ?
Being a schlub on this lazy Sunday. Trying to mentally and physically get ready for the work week ahead. All while wearing some of the last dregs of a bottle of Maison Louis Marie – Antidris Cassis.

Do you still have Victoria? Such a great perfume. Why they kept Rapture and let this one go, I will never know!
Yes!! I had the original splash bottle with maybe 3 ml left. A few days ago I mailed it to a dear friend because she collects and I think. She loves Victoria and misses it and I know she will proudly display that gorgeous bottle!
Nope I don’t think

Apparently autocorrect doesn’t know me very well ???
I knew!?
Autocorrrect seems bound and determined to be your nemesis.
You get an enabler pin for me buying a small spray bottle of Heaven off eBay. I haven’t worn it yet, though. Total blind buy based on your comments. ?
Ooo I hope you like it!!
I am glad that pl67, Undina, Marcella and Cassieflower talked me into buying two large bottles of it because since then the prices have tripled on eBay!
Enjoy your bottle, Lizzie B!
I love Chloe by KL..
Well, you know this!
Maybe that will be my SOTD this week..
I always think of you with vintage Chloe!!
I wore it A LOT in the early 80s. I bet it smells gorgeous on you ??
I have decants of Brigitte and Lieu de Reves. Both are really nice.
I will be making a different interpretation of the cp for this week by wearing perfumes that many of us have (or maybe not) and that nobody wears or does not report that is wearing anymore, myself included.
SOTD YSL Opium. A forgotten friend that I keep as reference, that I like, but don’t love anymore and that I still enjoy wearing once in a blue moon. I had not reached for this bottle in years.
Happy Monday everyone!
You smell divine! I was just thinking how no one really wears the big perfumes anymore. I’m going to join you in something glamorous shortly ?
Those big hitters have been completely abandoned by perfumistas. I am kind of honoring them this week, since they are great classics, no matter if they were hated or loved. Looking forward to what you will be wearing today.
I mostly wear modest scents to work and social events, (maybe because it fits my personality more? I dont want to attract too much attention haha).
But I still love and wear big perfumes when i find the opportunity (at home of course -my husband does not mind, and to parties, bars, clubs). Opium, Poison, Safari, Narcisse…. ?
Oh, you smell amazing!
I had my eye on a vintage bottle a few months ago. I didn’t get it because, well, it’s a full bottle. I think back in the day I only had tiny sample size bottles. I was perusing STC yesterday before bed and noticed I can get a decant to go back down memory lane!
Thank you, Gail! I have an almost full bottle of the EdT that I think I bought around 2008/09 Not sure if it was before reformulation. It is pretty rich in clove and incense with a very nice carnation note. If you think you would like to try it let me know and I will make a decant for you.
Omg, thank you!! I will email you.
Happy Monday!!
YSL does have quite a couple of awesome classics nobody wears or mentions that often anymore…Opium,Rive Gauche,Paris(!!!!),Cinema!!
You smell devine M!
XO
Thank you! I love Paris! That is another bottle that I don’t reach for often either and it is so beautiful! ?
It really is!!I should wear it again myself, asap!??
Oh but I do wear Rive Gauche, Paris and Cinema 🙂
You smell awesome! I still love love LOVE Opium in the vintage perfume version.
It reminds me of the carefree 80s when I was still a kid, and it reminds me of my mother who is an awesome woman. ?
Thank you, Jiji! I think so many perfumes have made lost interest in most of the classics despite being all awesome compared to actual releases. Opium is amazing and I still enjoy it when I wear it.
I have bottles of Opium EdT and EdP from around the same time as yours. I enjoy the smell, but have to be in a particular mood to wear either one of them.
Agree! They are not easy to wear in spite of being so beautiful.
I think I might have a couple unicorns. Today I’m wearing Tendre Poison, inspired by pl67 to wear something glorious. This is my favorite of the Poison line. I think I’m the only perfumista whose favorite isn’t Midnight Poison. It’s the last day of fake spring for me, back to cold and snow tomorrow!
You smell glorious indeed! My favorite Poison flanker is Hypnotic Poison. I may wear it some time this week.
We had a gorgeous weekend here too. Today is so warm and sunny that you can smell spring already. Back to rain and to the 40’s tomorrow, but spring is around the corner! ?????
Haha!Well we had fake Winter today,at the latter end of Summer!
Smelling good over there Lillyjo!
XO
Fake spring for me here as well. It was 62 today! But I will be getting your winter weather at the end of the week. ☃
my unicorn perfume today is La Danza Delle Libellule
Tea is chai made my me, with fresh ginger just like my FIL
I have several unicorn scents. Here is today’s: Allegoria Jasminora. A kind NSTer sent a mini and I have come to love it after experiencing high end jasmin sambac. This is soo naturalistic! A very easy to wear jasmin. I decanted the mini into a sprayer and have been in bliss.
I have a mini of that one! I waited too long to get a FB of it when it was available at Sephora.
Okay so not a total unicorn and Robin even reviewed this one. All we need probably at this point are minis of any scent – speaking for myself of course!
You are right about me probably not needing any more full bottles. That doesn’t mean that they won’t catch my eye, though! ?
I’m also doing a unicorn perfume today with Krazy Krizia. This is something I rarely reach for, but which I really like. My bottle is a splash bottle, which is easier to control. If I were using a spray bottle the scent might be a bit much.
House twins today!
K de Krizia for me!
Also don’t reach for it that much, because I HATE the sprayer and design of the bottle.
But a pretty aldehyde perfume nonetheless!
Here’s one that’s not seen too often any more in our discussions: Masaki Matsushima Chocolat Mat. I have that one on today.
I had to look it up! Cool bottle too.
I remember smelling it long ago – but that’s it. I liked and wore the original one when it was released.
My Monday unicorn perfume is so rare that I can’t even find info on it anymore. It’s La Cie de Provence Eau Jaune, a cheerful citrus blend with grounding base notes. It’s also quite long lasting. In my searching I saw that a bottle of Eau Verte from the same line is listed on eBay right now.
SotD is Bois d’Encens by Armani
Its far from a unicorn perfume, but its uplifting on a very grey and rainy day.
Monday morning, wearing Mendittorosa Rituale to yoga.
I wish I was practicing next to you. Love that one!
My Monday unicorn is K de Krizia.
Awfully designed bottle and sprayer, half of what is sprayed ends up streaming down the bottle!
Pretty good aldehyde perfume though.
Planning a REAL unicorn for tomorrow, and am pretty excited about it!
Happy Monday all!
XO
HI Johanob-
How are you feeling these days? Did your cloud finally pass?
Just checking in 🙂
Excited to see what your unicorn SOTD is domani!
Ciao..
Well hey!As I just commented on your comment above!Lol!
I think the cloud is gone, feeling good thank you!
Oh tomorrow’s scent is something I was gifted, and have NEVER seen mentioned anywhere! And it is such a great perfume!Even though I am over my hoarding phase, this one is used sparingly as I probably will never get it again!
Happy Monday!
Ciao…✌?
Yes..I saw your comment above. ..our comment replies were passing each other through the World Wide Web at the same time 🙂 😉
Like a real conversation in person, almost!Love that!
K de Krizia is just beautiful! Is yours vintage?
Yes,totally vintage from that closed down shop I mentioned a couple of comments ago.
Not sure if they still produce it though?
Oh, I used to wear that back when it was new, and loved it. I admit that I bought it due to their incredibly beautiful black and white perfume ads in magazines. There was one of a little girl and a kitten that I adored. I loved the perfume, too. I do have a bottle now but it’s not the same as it used to be way back when. It’s nice to be reminded of it. I don’t like the bottle itself, but I love the Art Deco lettering on it!
Coincedently I just saw a post about the redesign of the KRIZIA logo/wordmark. This simplification of existing brands or stripped down typeface styles for new brands is happening with products and companies of all kinds. I’m sure we have all noticed. One reason companies are doing this is their logos/wordmarks are now seen more on our electronic devices than in print as they once were. As a graphic designer it makes me sad to see this… some call it “Blanding”!
Here’s a link to the site…

I have a mini of Teatro by that house and I got it just for the Art Deco aesthetic
Happy Monday to you! I’m rather pleased to hear that your dark cloud has gone off to somewhere else.
White Pepper & Tuberose from Henri Bendel. I own a couple of Bendel scents bought some 10 or more years ago. They’re all generally light and fresh. Perfect for a unicorn week….and for this rather mild weather we are having.
SOTD = Canoe Skive
This was the 2014 version that won the Art & Olfaction award for Indies, a collaboration between natural perfumer Jessica Hannah (J Hannah & Co.) and Natalie Davis (Canoe Goods). Smoky leather is what comes to mind. Packaging is a gorgeous black leather roll.

I posted freebies for U.S. regulars up above on Feb 23 around 11:30 AM Eastern. 2 out of 3 still available.
I saw that on your Insta and was curious about it. I’ve never heard of it. I won’t sign up for a freebie though because I’m just not a fan of leather scents, so it should go to someone else.
The freebie is for 20 mLs of a LUSH body spray and 10mLs of Valentino Valentino Uomo which is not very leathery…it’s woodier and more hazelnutty than leathery.
Ooh! I remember that! I never tried it and it seems to have fallen off the perfumista map. Thanks for mentioning it!
Indeed it has fallen off the map but I think I need to check out the perfumer!
I think I have a sample of it but I don’t remember how it was. Need to find and try.
Awwww… I thought no one would be playing this Monday, so I wore the first thing that came to hand, Ella. It is not a blockbuster, but I know I have sent decants to at least 5 people, so it is not entirely a unicorn either. My husband as he was heading out this AM: “Hmmm…wow. You smell sexy.”
I would keep Ella handy if that is the response from your husband… 🙂 😉
I think I snorted. Probably not the reaction he expected!
I have a full bottle of it.
It is a satisfying bottle, isn’t it?
Lazy Monday here as I sit around waiting for the plumber who was supposed to come at 9:30. It’s almost 12:30 now but that’s how it is with repairmen. I can’t wait to get that stinky mess cleared out of my laundry room sink. I am wearing Musc Ravageur from my wonderful little freebieemeet sample. Am probably going to use a nice gift reward I earned at Saks to buy myself a small travel spray size of it. Fortunately they are sold separately. I would never use a larger bottle of it anyway. Hope people’s weeks are off to a good start.
I was just considering a travel spray of this one myself. Perfect size and lovely fragrance.
lazy Monday =perfect Monday
I hope that your sink is fixed by now! ??
Got to NST on my catching up on life journey. *waves* Back early in February when I thought I was catching a cold, it turned out that I had the flu. I had had the flu shot in October. The doctor said that if I hadn’t, it might have been much worse. Although it was a mild case of the flu, I still felt pretty yucky. I was more or less better by about the middle of last week, but still getting tired very quickly.
I wasn’t wearing perfume, just various scented hand lotions now and then. Last night I put on Serge Lutens La Myrrhe at bedtime. I’ll have to look up what the “unicorn” project is. I didn’t even realize I had a three-day weekend. 🙂
Since it was pretty nice out for February yesterday, I went to Longwood Gardens with family friends. They hadn’t yet seen the Orchid Extravaganza. I’d seen the 75 to 80% of it that was up in the conservatories on January 15th, the nice day (Wednesday) before the very cold Friday the 17th that it officially started. I enjoyed seeing the whole thing. 🙂 They enjoyed seeing it for the first time. 🙂
Also, I was eager to see the witch hazels doing their thing. They were in full bloom, and I was very happy to see them. 🙂 There were also a few tommy crocuses blooming.
At home, due to the weird weather, we’ve had snowdrops in full bloom for the last few weeks. A yellow snow crocus came up a week or so ago, and now ‘Cream Beauty’ and ‘Mammoth Yellow’ crocuses are coming up on the hill in front. There are tulip leaves coming up, too, and I’ve been telling them to stop it, that they’re too early. Some of the ‘Ice Follies’ daffodils are in bud, but I’ve mentioned that I’m not worried about them. 🙂
I have a lot of catching up on posts and comments to do here! Nice to see you again!
Good to see you back and hear you are feeling better.
Thank you! 🙂 Glad to be back. 🙂
Hey, good to see you posting! But sorry to hear that it was flu after all. That bites.
Good to see you! 🙂 It was maybe a little premature to tell you on the 13th that I was getting better. I still had a nasty cough and got tired very quickly. The other symptoms had cleared up by then. I seem to be having much less now in the way of coughing fits. (*crosses fingers*)
A large part of my staying home as much as possible for a couple of weeks was that I didn’t want to give it to other people. “Good choice,” my local friends and acquaintances told me. Also I didn’t really feel like going out. I was happy to sit and read, or nap. Even that mild case of the flu still took a toll on me.
But now I’m getting out of the house again for this or that errand, or to take walks in the park when it’s nice out. 🙂
I’d have to agree with the folks who said “Good choice” for taking it easy. I’ve known a couple of people who tried to resume a regular, full schedule after getting sick and ended up getting sick again. URIs (upper respiratory infections) really take a lot out of a person.
Glad you’re feeling better, neyronrose!
Thank you! 🙂
My unicorn for today: Henri Bendel Wild Fig (from the polka dot box). Almost the only fig I still love. Anyone else have this?
Wearing the perfume oil Sunshower, I grabbed a small roll on when I worked at Walden Books years ago during the final days of Borders books when everything was in the bargain bins. I do love the scent, it has oakmoss in it I think. I will miss it when it’s gone, never found it anywhere else. Happy day all!
My “unicorn” for today is not just perfume but the brand as well – Lieber Gustav by Krigler. This is my all-time favorite lavender perfume (I like it even more than Kiki), about which I wouldn’t have known if it weren’t for a perfumista friend who shared a decant with me. Krigler’s prices are high, availability is non-existing (a couple of stores, I think), so with their sampling policies (expensive, non-refundable against FB and with S&H and taxes), I don’t expect them to get popular among perfumistas any time soon.
I read they plan to open their boutique in Ritz Carton SF, and I hoped to try more of their scents there, but it keeps being postponed.
Oooh. I am intrigued. Possible future boutique in SF… is it herbal? Vanillic (is that a word?)
VC+%POF?><}[][{JMC%)&()**%R$&*^%
(That mess was the sound of my chair hitting the floor–I just looked up the perfume, and then the candles—errrrr, just a titch out of my price range 🙂 )
I know! But I still wouldn’t mind smelling them for free 🙂
I probably should not complain that the one at The Plaza is about the size of my tiny-ish walk-in closet.
Interesting… It might visit it in NY before they finally open it here.
Oh gosh, where to begin? I certainly have a load of unicorns which is mostly due to the fact that I’m old. The first perfume that I vividly recall from my childhood that is a unicorn is Yardley’s Bond Street, which my paternal grandmother wore and which is my sotd.
What does that smell like? Is it still around?
It’s classified as a floriental, but I find it more floral and powdery. Citrus top notes, heliotrope, jasmine, rose, violet and ylang ylang and then a mild woody base. Charming but certainly not striking in any way. It was released in 1922, discontinued at some point then it seems to have had a resurgence in the 50’s. There’s a men’s cologne of the same name that is still available.
The perfect first line of a novel:
“I certainly have a load of unicorns which is mostly due to the fact that I’m old.”
LOL!!! Amazingly astute as usual – your sense of humor is priceless! You’re right, there’s a lot of material in there. Let’s be thankful that I’m no writer…
Why? It sounds like we are all missing out on some great bon mots from you, Holly.
No unicorn perfume for today. A slow-moving Monday for me. At least there was a bit of sun left this morning. I’ll be back later to read comments; for now, a quick post.
SOTD = Chanel Bois des Isles EdT (aka Box of Eels), from the sample stash. Usually a no-brainer, but today it isn’t quite working for me. Not sure why. ??
Oh oh but you smell good to me!
Thank you! It still smelled good, but it “felt” not quite right. Definitely a weird sensation.
Wearing vintage Must de Cartier EDT, the galbanum makes me anticipate spring and the oriental base keeps me warm
Well, I’ve been busy, but not too busy to wear perfume.
Indult Tihota – very luscious, but I think I’m not a big fan of vanilla when it’s a ‘soliflore’. I’ll layer it and see if I can get it to work.
PG Indochine – okay, I’m in love. I’m also in love with Cadjmere, so what’s a girl to do?
Anne Pliska – Anne Plastic? This doesn’t work on me at all. I’ll try it again, but will probably swap this decant next month.
I hope everyone had a lovely Monday. At least it’s almost over!
Too busy for perfume sounds like a bad time to me.
Not sure how much of a unicorn it is, but I’ve put on some Amouage Homage attar. It’s a lovely rose attar perfume oil.
I’ve heard about those Amouage attars! ?
These days, that’s a unicorn attar for sure! I will virtually wear my Tribute attar ?
Wearing Lush Ginger tonight.
My bottle is from 2011, not the new formulation. I will have to get to my local store to sample the new Ginger to see if it’s the same. Loved the (long discontinued) matching body cream and I still have a bit of the dusting powder remaining in the canister shaker.
SotD = Bogue MEM
Mem, again, LOL 😀
Hope everyone had a marvelous Monday. It was hectic for me but I remembered to wear scent, visit NST, and exercise. I’m feeling like it was a little bit of a win.
Hey, you got all the important things done! ?
