It's Hump Day, and there are 29 days left until the end of winter. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm taking partial community project credit in Providence Perfume Co Vientiane.
Reminder: on 2/21, wear a fragrance by Parfum d'Empire, Parfums DelRae, Penhaligon's, Pacifica or Parfumerie Generale, if you have one. (Yes, we already did a community project for Parfums de Nicolaï). Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter P.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

That is a beautiful photo Robin. I feel as though my day has started off so peacefully by looking at that photo..
We have lots of Buddha’s around our apartment, they are like little reminders.
SOTD is Shalimar ( I know I am boring )
I haven’t made anything hot to drink yet. Having dal and rice for breakfast
A bowl of dal and rice sounds glorious right about now! Yum!
Shalimar is never boring…..always glorious too!
I feel glorious!
I was buttoning my little monkeys coat today and she said “mommy you smell so good”
Isn’t that the sweetest! my first perfume compliment from my kids , well one of them!
I have 3 statues — kitchen, dining room, office. I need one for my bedroom.
I have a lovely and serene statue of Kuan Yin on my nightstand. I like to look over at it, and then try to match her facial expression.
I have always wanted one of the Aldo Londi ones…like this:
https://assets-vinterior-1.vinterior.co/uploads/listing_image/image/2210886/vintage-bitossi-chinese-decor-blue-pottery-kwan-yin-aldo-londi-italy-aldo-londi_0.jpg
Of course, coveting expensive antique pottery is not hardly in the spirit intended! But I’d like one all the same.
The gorgeous color alone is enough to make it covetable!
Shalimar is always lovely.
Thank you!
Shalimar is always a good idea
Smelling wonderful in Pacifica Tibetan Mountain Temple. Beautiful, comfy scent sadly discontinued. Love it, especially in cold, sunny days, like today.
Ah, you are smelling wonderful!
Thank you, Robin! ?
Enjoy the day pl67!
Thank you, Lillyjo! ?. You too have a great day! ?
I have TMT too, but I see (smell?) it as a warm weather scent. Amazing how differently we can perceive the same perfume.
TMT smells very sweet on me in warmer temps. It has an incense vibe that is more pronounced in cold weather and that I really enjoy.
And I don’t get any incense at all! I wish I did.
Today I am wearing Lake by Rosie Jane. I received a sample from a very generous NST’er at the last freebiemeet and fell in love, purchased a fb. Over the years I’ve seen numerous fragrances described as “orange creamsicle”, but this one hits it right on the nail. Love it.
Oh, creamsicle! I will have to try it.
If you love orange creamsicle, get thee some Bath and Body Works Snowy Citrus when it comes back at Christmas time. It is spot on and would layer well with your Rosie Jane!
Ormande woman today. I really would like a new scent, not that this one is not great. I just like variety. Maybe with a little of the tax refund, shouldI ever get to my taxes….
Ha, you and me both! I keep giving the stack of tax papers the side eye, but that’s as far as I’ve gotten so far.
Also in Providence Perfume Co but I’ve got Provanilla on
Hey cousin!
Parfum d’Empire Iskander from my sample set that I ordered ages ago. It’s a lovely scent, I’m glad I’ve got a little more left in my sample.
Tea is Earl Grey vert primeur by DF, a green Earl Grey.
Please, PdE, do 15 ml already!
I think I would own a lot more PdE’s if they did. It’s a very good line, and looking at my samples made me realise how many of them I like a lot.
Good morning Y’all….
Wearing a treasure hunt winner today…..Bvlgari Omnia. I found this goody at Marshall’s last night in the clearance bin and squealed out loud! 🙂 Having good luck with finding good stuff lately…
The batch code is 2015, so wonder where this bottle has been hiding all this time?
Very pretty and soft chai tea and exactly what I expected, but longevity is pretty terrible.
In other smelly good luck, I also found a bottle of Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille for $12.99! Smells like straight up coconut cake on my skin….. Good time to shop the discount stores now that Christmas is over and the stores are restocking!
Wait you found ORIGINAL Omnia at Marshall’s??? That’s insane and I can see why you squealed!
YES! The original! It was $39.99 for the small bottle….I snapped it up!
They also had several Jones NY fragrances that I’d never seen before. I’m also on the lookout for some Korres scents that have been seen in store…..
Jada I just found a Korres Lilac and powder perfume and lotion at my Marshalls for 4 dollars! It’s in a big odd shaped box. It’s not very apparent that it’s perfume at first glance.
Last week I found a Korres Amethyst Oud for $6.99. It’s really great, but will probably smell better on my hubs. I wish I had bought the Emerald Oud at the same time…now it’s gone!
And suddenly I’m planning a bus route home that will take me past the Marshall’s… I love Korres and I’d love to see what they do with lilac!
Congratulations on your find! That’s an incredibly good deal. ?
WHAT! Lucky you, enjoy.
Providence Mousseline Pêche as I dug around in samples looking for a P scent. I’m big on peach lately…and this hits the spot.
Oops. That was supposed to be standalone.
Was going to comment here that I saw an unboxed but full 100 ml bottle of Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom at Marshall’s the other day. It was $100. No idea if that’s a good price…
I love Omnia..but not the lasting power
I saw your post on instagram and it made my smile
Omnia is a treasure, especially when found at Marshall’s. Enjoy!
I’m in Nanadebary Bronze again today. I’m noticing that it blends especially well with food and drink, such as my coffee this morning. It’s like having a sprinkle of cinnamon over one’s latte, only better somehow. I had it on last night as well, and it enhanced my bedtime tea’s fragrance. I almost want to go back to school and learn about brain chemistry and how it works with scent and flavors. Almost. 🙂
Lol, almost. My college girl is taking an upper level chem course this semester and I don’t envy her at all.
How is your son doing, mtg? If you’ve commented on his progress before, my apologies!
He’s doing better! Thanks for asking Nancyleandros. Saw a sports med doc and is doing PT. He and my daughter got together Sunday for some video gaming and dinner together, which I’m taking as a good sign.?
Awww, that’s great news! I’m glad he’s on the mend. I guess if he’s playing video games, he’s getting better. ?
I saw this short blurb about a violinist playing the violin while having brain surgery to have a tumor removed…this is so the surgeons would not cut into the music section of the brain ?!
They often do awake operations to identify sensible regions. But not all patients can tolerate this
Amazing!
Wow, that is amazing.
Indeed!
Luca Turin’s THE SECRET OF SCENT is good reading if you are interested in this! It is sciency but accessible.
Oh, good to know – thanks!
Ooh I have your SOTD Robin – I will try to remember to wear it Friday for partial credit.
In Bois des Iles. I’m testing this to see if I should buy it or Coromandel for my bday next month. It’s nice and reminds me a little of Nivea cream. Anyone else have that association?!
Interesting. Bois des Iles is creamy, but it does not smell like a face/body cream to me. You smell lovely!
Thankee!
BdI is very creamy, but no association with Nivea, which I use every day as a hand cream.
Okay – I was remembering the Nivea only. I actually haven’t used it in years
You smell lovely. I say go for the BdI, since you already have Coromandel.
But my bottle of Coromandel is running so dangerously low!
Then you MUST buy more..
Right? Right!
Oh! Yes, then my vote is for Coromandel.?
It sounds like you already love Coromandel. Another bottle of that might be a Very Good Thing.
Very Good Thing indeed
Today is the first time I went outside after staying five months indoors. This February is uncharacteristically warm, and it is a dry and sunny day, so I had a short walk. I hope my back will continue to improve without setbacks.
I am wearing Parfum d’Empire Eau Suave on my neck and a bit of Philly & Phill Midnight On Max Street on my wrists. Eau Suave is a rose chypre (reminds me of Soir de Lune and Coriandre), and Midnight On Max Street is a cozy oud with plum and cinnamon. I like both, but I think both are better enjoyed outside in winter or early spring/late autumn. Today the weather was right for them.
Oh gosh Glannys, that is a long time to be indoors. I’m glad you could get out and also hope your back continues to improve!
Very long time! Thank you.
Glad to hear you were able to take a short walk outside. Hope you keep recovering satisfactorily. You smell great!
Thank you!
Yikes! That’s a long time inside. Must’ve been nice to get out!
It was – the sun, the fresh air, people walking. 🙂
Happy for you that you were able to get outside!
Thank you!
Congratulations on leaving the house. Best wishes for your continuing back health
Thank you!
It’s great that you’re able to be out and about! Are you using a cane or a walker or none of the above?
None. 🙂 I am wearing a brace though.
(NST spam bot keeps blocking me and makes me do simple maths. Sigh.)
Are you using a VPN? That could be one reason.
I am so sorry for all the trouble you had today Glannys! Thank you for persisting.
Such a long time to be indoors. Fingers crossed your back will continue to improve.
Thank you!
Glad to hear you’re doing well and able to get out!
Thanks, Holly!
Ambulatory, and smelling good! Yippee!
Yay! Thank you.
Wow!! Congratulations on finally getting outside!!
Thank you!
Great news! ?
Wow, I didn’t realize you were housebound for so long! It must have felt so freeing to venture outside! Congratulations!
Drôle de Rose today, since I’m continuing my rose week. I haven’t decided whether to finish my rose week on Friday or to participate in the CP.
I just realized that I may have a sample of Le Cri de la Lumière. That would fit both the CP and my rose week. Hope I can find it.
I love Drole de Rose! ? You smell fantastic! I did a whole week of rose last week. Looking forward to see your rose selections!
P is for Project Renegades Geza Schoen. This is a fine pepper-woods-iso thing, but it is so similar to other pepper-woods-iso things (for example, my current shower gel) that I don’t see why you would have to go renegade in order to make it to make it.
Never hear about those…maybe they weren’t renegade enough then?
Day 3 of SSS Equestrian!
Now that I know there is more available, I’ll be more generous with my wearings?
I was just looking at my SSS stash and thinking I could go for SSS weeks!
I just received some 5ml travel sprays, so I could do a week also! ?
Participating today in Parfum d’Empire’s Ambre Russe. Just a dab though because I have an appointment and this one is quite boozy. It always makes me think of someone who posted (maybe it was Deva?) that they wore this to work and was asked if they had been drinking, lol. I took note and never wear this one to work. No one wants a tipsy smelling nurse.?
We are back in the single digits today BUT the sun is out, so no complaints from me!?
I got up, saw the sun and said thank you Madtowngirl ?
Aww, lol, thanks lillyjo. Although if I was truly in charge of the weather, you and I would both have sun every single day!???
I like to wear this for parties and festive evenings.
It would be a good scent for that.
I felt that way about Black Afgano, which I otherwise liked.
I was commenting to my husband on Monday, “the sun is still out!” and it was 4:45 pm. Yay! Countdown.
SOTD: Bois des Iles EDP — they just don’t make ’em like this anymore.
I’ve been closing the patio door blinds at 6pm lately!
SOTD: Carthusia Fiori di Capri (original formula). Today I wanted something floral that reminded me of my 2018 trip to Italy (including Capri).
Do you know if it changed much? This is one of my favorites, and I bought my original bottle on eBay then got another in the old style bottle on eBay out of concerns it has changed… I’d be openly trying to sit by you today…
You smell good
What do you mean by original formula?
Oooh that’s a lovely one!! Smelled it in Capri as well.
Still in Dia right now and about to get into the shower and wash it all off. My state refund made it into my bank account this morning and I paid a pesky bill. The rest of the refund should be in my bank account tomorrow. I am thinking about either Shalimar Ode a la Vanille or vintage BaV today.
Yay for funding!
Happy Wednesday. I’m behind at work due to my vacation last week (totally worth it), but popping in to say I’m participating in Parfums Delrae Bois de Paradis. And thinking again how disappointed I am that Parfums Delrae is no longer.
Yes, very sad. That perfume is among my top five.
Same same same. I am very sad that I didn’t manage to acquire a back up bottle.
Sotd was Infusion d’iris by Prada. Yes it starts with a P, but far from small-ish ?
This is one of those scents i prefer for warm weather or those situations where I have to stay in one meeting room with lots of folks for more than one hour haha.
I had a training, so thats why.
It was interesting but also information overload.
Luckily we wrapped things up earlier than expected so now I have this window of opportunity to do some jogging/running…because its not dark outside. Yay ?
After a whole day of sitting on a chair i really need some excercise!
Glad you got out early! Hope the jog was fun.
Providence Mousseline Pêche as I dug around in samples looking for a P scent. I’m big on peach lately…and this hits the spot.
Hey cousin!
I did a little LUSH damage yesterday, and came away with things I didn’t really go in to buy. I was looking to see if they got in the other newly reformulated pressed conditioner bars. Jungle, in particular. I bought it in it’s former iteration many years ago because of I looove the smell (passion fruit, banana, green-ish fig), but it was a failure as a functional product so I never used it again. Anyway, they said next week.
But, I left with a solid of American Cream, which I’m kind of addicted to and am wearing today.
And a 1oz bottle of Sun, because Orange! Freshly juiced orange and tangerine, with a rather hippie sandalwood base. Love it despite the meh longevity.
Nice haul. There is something addictive about the scent of American Cream, isn’t it?
Jungle does not work well as a conditioner for me either, this why I was so excited when they released it as a body spray. I recommend it if you love the smell, by the way.
I never would’ve been drawn to AC (I’m not drawn to sweet/vanillic), except that I bought the solid conditioner- which is great for me as an actual conditioner- and the scent really grew on me.
I smelled the Jungle body spray but it didn’t smell the same to me as the conditioner scent. Maybe I need to spray it on skin to see how it morphs?
Hm… I have not tried the conditioner in ages, but I instantly recognized the scent in the body spray. Maybe the spray is greener and woodier, while the conditioner is fruitier. Yes, trying it on the skin might give different results, but so far it seems fairly linear.
Yes, the conditioner strikes me as lush green and fruity. The spray smelled mossy and woody to me. But there’s always sensory overload in those stores.
And nice avatar!
Did you smell any of the new LUSH perfumes while you were there?
So many that I don’t remember most of them, lol. The 34th st flagship store has the full line (that are available in the US). I really like the Orange Blossom. It’s like a straight up neroli EO. I think that’s a reissue. Can’t remember which perfume, but one of them is like $400 for 100ml ?
Yeeek! $400 is way too rich for my blood! I am hoping to get a sniff of the Ginger and Lord of Misrule solids sometime soon. They both sounded good.
Some of the solids don’t have as much oomph as the perfumes- I could barely smell Sun in the solid form.
I like both of those perfumes. I also really like The Smell of Weather Turning (it reminds me of missionista). Nice that they make solids for many of them. I hope you get to smell them soon!
Day off today and running some errands. I’m wearing Musc Ravageur. I’ve decided this is just too masculine for me. I finally broke down and bought new work pants. The hardest thing for me to find, because manufacturers don’t want to believe that I need pockets!
I have a prejudice against that perfume–when I was last poking around the Malle counter at Nordies, the perfume salesperson was wearing MR, and was raving about it. The problem was that she was wearing an inch thick slick of make-up that put me off my game. So I always associate MR with weird, thick, make-up–having zero to do with how it smells.
Oh no! I can see how this could happen though, kind of like eliminating baby names because of some kid from your past that you associate that name with.
Glad you found work pants that work for you. Musc Ravageur didn’t impress very much if I compare to what I experienced with POAL. I prefer all my Shalimars to it.
Is MR supposed to be similar to Shalimar? I just get freshly shaved man smell from it.
HA! The next time I use MR, I’ll be wondering if people are looking around for the dude. ?
Musc Ravageur always makes me think of Bear? so that might sway the way it smells to me.
Yes, Lillyjo, it is a Malle’s take on Shalimar.
Ok, in the far drydown now, and I get the Shalimaresqe-ness
A much better take on Shalimar are Les Nereides Oppoponax (go for vintage which is ims Imperial Oppoponax) and Fragonard Reve Indien, I find both very good.
I’ve been finding that some manufacturers are skimping on the pockets themselves. Flimsy fabric and shallow pockets. If there is a pocket, it needs to be deep enough to actually carry items. ?
Or pockets that are stitched shut. What the heck is with that?!
Right? That is so irritating!
Sometimes pockets in (fancier) jackets and trousers are stitched up so they don’t stretch in transit to the store. With luck a seam ripper will set them free…
I hate that. Especially when there’s actual extra pocket material that you can’t get to, but have to straighten out so you can’t see it bunched up through the pants.
Sometimes I think that women’s pants are made with the thought “Hey women have purses, why would they need pockets?” Unbelievably short sighted and irritating!
Oh, and the weather forecaster on the 6 o’clock news here just mentioned the Heat Miser! I laughed and thought of you.
I am testing . . . Rose Prick.
In my opinion–ladies and gents, hold on to your wallet. It has a whiff of Amouage Lyric (almost like orange/clove but not quite), what I would characterize as spice-lite, and then a pretty, albeit sophisticated patchouli-ish, floral patchouli drydown.
Of course, take my opinion with a grain of salt because 1. I did NOT like Lost Cherry (just for reference); and 2. the perfume seems underpowered for a TF, which may mean that I am anosmic to much of it, and perhaps to its charms.
The “prick” if not the rose, seems aspirational!
And I got through that entire mini-review without giggling once at the name 😉
I pulled out PG’s Arso earlier and thought of you. ?
hahahah! Oh goodness. Now I can’t stop. It’s not what you pull out of your Arso, it is how you wear it. (Ok. I don’t only live with an immature teenage boy, I even play one on NST!) Is that a splash or a spray Arso?
My immaturity aside, based on the notes and my love for Profumum Roma’s (I think that is what you meant?) Ambra Aurea, I am sure I would love it!
Whoops, yes it’s PR and not PG! It’s an Arso dabber! I haven’t tried it yet (don’t go there) but it sounds good. I’ve barely explored the line but at least now I have my samples ready to roll.
Thanks for this honest opinion sharing. I trust the perfume opinions of NSTers more then any other group
Same here.
And I giggled at your first sentence.? sorry
I know! Giggle away!
It just sounds like the name of a porn star (okay, I am no expert on porn stars, but you know what I mean!!) who needed a publicist. It does not sound like a perfume that sells for $300 to $800 on Sephora!
Speaking of porn stars, we have a male political candidate here in San Diego with the last name of Starita. OMG.
I have seen other comments on FB that sillage and longevity are lacking.
Huh! Well, I look forward to hearing what others think of this one. I definitely had a “emperor’s new clothes” moment, especially coupled with the price tag–I wasn’t sure if I was the truth-telling kid, or just anosmic.
Feeling very unmotivated to go to yoga. But I smell good in Anima Vinci Wood of Life.
You got the most important bit right 🙂
The good news is I did manage to drag myself there and it was a very good class. So now I feel fragrant and virtuous. 🙂
An excellent combination…
Even better ?
? yay! I always feel better after yoga, whether I wanted to go or not ?
I dragged myself to an afternoon class too! I am proud of both of us!
I still cannot do crow, after all these years, and I bruised myself trying today, ha! When I was on vacation last week I went to a “beginner” class where they did crow — HA, I have been doing yoga for years and did crow once for about 5 seconds and that was my high point. Good thing I did not try the “advanced” class, I probably would have killed myself.
Yay for us! Did you tip over on your face? I’ve done that. My crow is getting pretty good, although my wrists give out after about a minute.
I am so afraid of knocking out my teeth that I sort of thud over to the side, usually. That’s pretty much what I did today. It was loud and I laughed.
Yay for finding that motivation! Sometimes mine is hanging out with my misplaced perfume samples. ?
SOTD = Chanel No.19 EDP
That felt really great to type. I was not looking for it as a spine stiffener but more of a hey lovely one, I have not worn you in ages and I must do so!
https://www.instagram.com/p/B8vz9unhgaE/?igshid=1oj4i4p1moh3p
In other news, I am flabbergasted that I have not set up Applepay since I could have gotten a 20% discount on a food order today and it would have been enough to for a nice latte at $tarbucks!
In other financial news, Luckyscent replied nicely to me about my query over the exorbitant Jorum sample prices. They said Jorum is less generous with discounted testers to them than other brands so they have to charge more per sample. I thought it was only based on the sales price of the bottle but apparently not.
Oh that is interesting, maybe I’ll DM the perfumer. And in answer to your ?, besides Trimerous, the only other one I’ve tried was Nectary which is a rose-centric perfume to my nose anyway. I think I was playing hooky the day I sampled it from my 15mL bottle and just left it somewhere in a pile – ha! The other ones are still wrapped.
Iris vetiver, eh? Maybe I should give No 19 another shot. I strongly disliked it when I first tried it in my perfumista infancy, but my nose has changed a lot since then.
EDP. The EDT is different… more orange blossomy and still very nice but my heart is with the EDP ❣️
Ah, good to know!
I was just going to say I haven’t seen you wear this one in awhile! You smell like you.☺️ I haven’t set up Apple pay yet either.
I know, right? I had been busy doing these weeks that inadvertently excluded No.19 EDP. I should just treat it like the free space on a BINGO card!
I meant THEMED weeks…
It’s nice to see you wear 19 again. ?
Thumbs up for sure❣️
I thought I subliminally noticed something unusual with your perfume picks recently! ? Nice to see you giving it some love. ?
In Penhaligon’s Elizabethan Rose first version. IT’S an old school rose English rose which is surprisingly tenacious, the drydown resisted the bath I took this evening.
I know alot of people like perfume to last all day, but I prefer to have it gone after a bath. That way it’s a clean slate for something else?
I’m with you, sister!
🙂 yes that can be too much of a good thing.
Today it’s Penhaligon’s Malabah, a lovely spiced lemon tea scent that I’m surprised I don’t see mentioned more often. It’s so easy to wear and enjoy.
Sounds very pretty.
I thought it was nice, but it did not last on me
It has pretty decent longevity on me but not a lot of sillage, so it’s ideal for the office.
You smell wonderful today Robin! Vientiane is one of my favs.
I haven’t posted lately or kept up with comments. I’m sure that I have missed a ton and hope everyone is well.
I an easing back into scent with Safran Troublant.
welcome back..How are you?
I am still sad but doing my best. We had an unexpected loss in my family.
I am so sorry to hear this..
Let me know if you want any perfume related goodies I can send you to lift your spirits
With much love & sympathy
Thank you for kindness and sympathy which is more than enough to make me feel better.
Hi Petunia!Sending hugs!!
Thanks Johano! So nice to see your posts again.
Thoughts and prayers for your family, Petunia. You have been very much missed here.
I am sorry to hear it, glad to see you back though.
Petunia, I’m so sorry for your unexpected loss.
Welcome back, Petunia! You smell lovely.
Aww, thank you Nancy. I’ve missed everyone here.
Sorry for your loss, Petunia. Sending hugs!
You smell wonderful in Saffran Troublant!
Thank you!
Welcome back!
And sorry for your loss.
I’ve missed seeing you here! I’m so sorry for your loss, and sending love and hugs your way.
Saffron twins!
Oh I’m so sorry for your loss Petunia. Glad to see you back here
So sorry for your loss, Petunia. And unexpected is especially difficult. Sending you hugs. Happy to see you, though. I’ve been thinking about you..
Welcome back Petunia. I’m sorry for your loss.
Safran Troublant is a great way to ease back into scent. Glad to see you back on here!
Thank you everyone who commented for your kindness. I have missed the people here greatly.
So sorry for your loss, Petunia. I’m glad you’re easing back in!
I’m happy to see you posting Petunia. Like others here I missed seeing you. Very sorry to hear about the unexpected loss in your family. My sympathies, and hugs.
hugs to you, Petunia ???️
I’m so very sorry for your loss, Petunia. I hope you can find a bit of joy and comfort in easing back to your fragrances.
Petunia, it is the usual here, drop in when you can!
I am so sorry for your loss. We have an expected loss coming up in my family and I know it is going to hit me like a ton of bricks anyway. It occurs to me now that really I have never experienced a big unexpected loss…I don’t even know what that would feel like.
Happy Wednesday! I’m still in PG, this time in Musc Maori. Wow, chocolate and….other stuff. Definitely some coffee. I like the cocoa part, but there’s something in this that doesn’t work for me. Indochine is better on my skin.
Indochine is of of PGs best scents, IMHO.
I agree. Now I must say, I sprayed a little Cadjmere on my shoulder, and it might be a favorite as well. Uh oh.
Cadjmere is really nice too.
Atelier Cologne Vanilla Insensée for a stupidly early cross-Canada flight.
Now for second breakfast at 10:36am PST since I’ve been up for 7 hours already, a nap, and probably a dab of Victorinox Snowflower to get me through rehearsals.
Enjoy Vancouver (or Victoria?)! What kind of rehearsals? Theatre, music, singing?
Circus! She’s the nuclear engineer who switched to circus ??
Infamous already ?
It’s just a corporate event performance, but I’ll get to visit Perfume Shoppe here tomorrow before show call which has great Google reviews, and the weather was gorgeous on the way over – amazing views of the Rockies!
*Waving at you from Kelowna*
I hope you have fun at The Perfume Shoppe. I’ve never visited there but have ordered online before and had great service!
I tried Musc Maori and preferred Akro Dark – I agree there was a something extra in Music Maori that gave me pause.
Oops that was meant to be a reply to Nancyleandros! Pardon
I was searching through comments on fragrantica, looking for something that might make sense, and someone mentioned a citrus note. That might be what’s bugging me.
Maybe the bergamot?
It’s a note I love normally but no matter how much I **want** to love Earl Grey flavored chocolate, it’s never the smash success I imagined when I bite into it.
Sometimes two great things don’t taste or smell good together, or at least not for every taster! But that’s the fun part of perfume too is that so much of it comes down to individual preference.
I agree on two great things sometimes being not at all great together. I love mint and love chocolate, but don’t like mint-flavored chocolate at all. That means more for the people who do love it, though. ?
Heh, I adore mint+chocolate and Earl Grey+chocolate ? I’m a weirdo ?
Thanks to Regina’s aha! moment yesterday, I’ve pulled out a load of samples that fit the cp. Today, Parle-Moi de Parfum’s Guimauve de Noel. Denyse of Grain de Musc has this to say: “This is Séville à l’aube’s Provençal cousin playing Sugar Plum Fairy.”
Thanks for pointing out this line to me. I always read Grain de Musc’s best of lists, but this one had escaped me. The description sounds gorgeous and fun.
It’s quite likely that I acquired my sample after reading her list, since I don’t recall hearing about it elsewhere. I’m always up for trying anything with orange blossom!
So I guess it has orange blossom?
Yes, it’s basically orange blossom and a vanilla marshmallow. It’s quite simple, fluffy and sweet but not cloying.
I will catch up on all your wonderful perfumes and comments over the weekend, with a full recap of my CRAZY week!
SOTD!It was a biiiiiig hit at work…
Montale Crystal Flowers.Oh goodness,I love this so much!Beautiful Rose perfume,it was another aquisition from my friend Merlin, way back when!
Happy Wednesday darlings!xo
Happy Wednesday to you too, Johanob! You smell great! ???⚘
Happy Wednesday, johanob! You’re on the way to the weekend. ?
Smelling great! 🙂
Hang on, that weekend is coming!
The weekend is within spitting distance!
Chanel week for me. Today I wore Egoiste, yesterday Platinum Egoiste and Monday no5 EDP, the last drops from my wife’s decant (although I wore it maybe 5 times in total, I think I like it more than she does).
Your week is smelling great!
Thanks!
No 5 edp is my favorite! You smell divine ?
No5 is wonderful, especially in the dry down.
Thanks!
Calligraphy Saffron, because it got colder today. On me it’s dry, herbal saffron with just a touch of rose.
Finally got my used bottle of MKK today, so liberally sprayed myself. It reminds me a lot of unwashed sheep’s wool. I am a spinner and knitter, so I like the scent a lot.
My husband wears MKK and it smells very warm & cozy on him.
Happy Hump Day!
Surrounded by the cloud of MFK Oud Silk Mood today.
Such a beautiful name ❤️
Wearing Cuir de Lamcome from a long-ago Winners…winning find. Nowadays there seems to be little in the way of perfume there at all, much less anything I’d like to blind buy, alas.
Cuir de Lancôme is such a gem!
It’s been several years since I found anything worthy at Winners.
Gorgeous perfume! It should never have been d/c’ed.
I’ve been trolling my Winners for ages and finally scored a perfume I liked for a good price – Victorinox Snowflower at $10 – but it takes weeks for anything new to arrive these days it seems!
And truthfully, it’s not quite a blind buy – I look the perfumes up on Fragrantica to get a notes list…
Bright, sunny and chilly here today! Thanks to madtowngirl and lillyjo for sending blue skies my way. ??
SOTD = TF Jasmin Rouge EdP, from the sample stash and a super-nice, generous NSTer. Cooler temps today meant that I needed something with a bit more “oomph”.
YUm, you smell great!
Thank you!
Hey, if you have ?, you gotta pass it along! Are you feeling better from the other day?
Yes, I am. Thanks for asking! But I now have a bunch of chicken noodle soup at home in case anything else pops up. ??
Were you a Girl Scout?
Only for a year.
Smellin’ mighty fine – we had good weather here too!
Thank you! It felt so good to see the sun today. And one of the cats took advantage of the bay window this afternoon. ?
Weather twins! Did Jasmin Rouge work for you?
Yes it did! It’s a great pick for cool-to-cold and windy weather.
I want to pull out my decant and give it a whirl before warm weather arrives!
Yeah, do it!
Cool weather scents are wonderful ? glad yours is working well!
Thanks tiffanie! It’s one nice thing about winter, isn’t it?
SotD = Bogue MEM
goodness gracious, I love this one. MEM hits lots of right notes for me. I found my sample and smelling it again after a long break was delightful.
Wishing everyone a wonderful Wednesday. 😀
Oof! I’d forgotten MEM! I love that one, glad you’re enjoying it. Hope you’re having a wonderful week.
Hi Holly ? glad MEM is one you enjoy too. It makes me feel good!
I saved my empty MEM sample vial so I can remind myself how it smells from time to time… It’s like a lavender-jasmine simple syrup, in a good way!
“Lavender-jasmine simple syrup” sounds delicious! ?
I’m late posting again. I had to do some correspondence today and house organization plus visiting Mom, a bit of shopping, time goes by…. In looking for some “P” scents (that sounds bad!), I decided to begin alphabetizing my samples…. Huge project, begun with just a few little bins. (I have way more in A-L than in M-Z. Is that unusual?) I found more options than expected. I chose Penhaligon Amaranthine which it turns out I love! Ylang-ylang, so no surprise. Discontinued, alas.
I got mad at a “friend” today who invited me to a conference… a rather small and select one, where there will be about eight speakers. I would just go to be an active participant, I guess. OH, and, pay my own travel, hotel, meals, and a $175 registration fee. I wrote straight back to say thank you, but I won’t make it. Am I petty? Retired folks don’t get fat travel stipends—hello!
Hard to tell if that is petty — was she just inviting you to be nice, and you’re upset that she did not think through how difficult it would be for you to go?
Chiming in late with Paris-Venise tonight; I needed something that was quiet and soothing after a crazy, busy day.
Hope it is working Gail!
Hope tommorow is easier!
I should be wearing a different Penhaligon’s every day this week, as I have several I like a lot, but I’ve been mostly commando as I’m getting over sinusitis and a head cold! I should be back in full “perfume mode” by tomorrow, though, so one of the Penhaligons will be taken out for a spin!
