French niche house Serge Lutens has launched Des Clous pour une Pelure, a new fragrance in the Les Eaux de Politesse collection. The last in this series was L'Eau d'Armoise.
A machine translation from the original at Galeries Lafayette (I will add a description in English when I can find one):
Nails for a peel by Serge Lutens is the new eau de parfum from the Eaux de Politesse collection. “'Nails' here is a metaphor because this Water is dear to me! This orange peel stings in the eyes and its nail, of course, is cloves. ”
Serge Lutens Des Clous pour une Pelure is €120 for 100 ml.

Huh?.Lol…
I am so behind on Lutens perfumes,a “new” Serge to me would be Bapteme du Feau(sp?)
It is an orange peel fragrance spiced with clove — I think that’s all they are going to tell us.
You are behind. So am I, Dent de Lait was the last one I smelled.
Have not even tried Dent de Lait!
I think I’m on the same page as you Robin, enjoying my favorites and not really caring to smell a new release immediately,if ever.
Plus, it has been ages since I loved a new SL. Seems pointless. If somebody tells me it is all that and a bag of chips, I might get a sample. Or I might forget anyway 😉
2010 was when it all started to fall apart for me, with the launch of the disappointing, run-of-the-mill L’eau Serge Lutens. That was when I knew he had jumped on the bandwagon, which promptly drove off a cliff. He’s launched 25 scents in the last ten years, and I have loved exactly two of them (even his carnation scent, which should have been a home run for me, was so blah).
That is a good a date as any. The last 2 I liked were El Attarine (2008) and La Fille de Berlin (2013).
But I did not even try any of that very expensive series (forget the name), and as I said above, nothing since Dent de Lait.
Very pretty bottle.
I agree!
I went to the website,so confused as to what is where and part of which collection now.Love the new bottles, but I miss the old choice of either cloche or the regular bottle
It is, but that color is mouthwash to me.
I am so behind on what Serge Lutens has released. I think the last one I tried was the Berlin.
You are way back! But you might have gotten out while the getting was good 😉
It’s interesting to read how folks are behind in SL. I remember the days when I first heard of Lutens here on NST, and it was a favorite topic of discussion.
Yep. The line has changed, for sure.
I like the bottle and orange peels and clove sound like a good pairing.
Orange and cloves like a medieval pomander, rather appealing.
Serge does like orange and cloves..and so do I lol. Last Serge I smelled was Dent and wasn’t enthused. De Profundis and on have been generally let downs.
Sounds very timely, given orange and clove (in the form of pomanders) were used to fight the Great Plague in London in 1665, and we’re currently in the middle of an epidemic/pandemic with Covid19. I doubt SL predicted how apropos it would be….
I love the bottle. I’m still going through the old Serges. I finally tried Fille de Berlin, and finally bought a full bottle of Fleurs de Citronnier.
This discussion has just prompted me to put on my SL favourites – Arabie, Un Bois Vanille, A la Nuit and Muscs Koubla Khan!!
All this re-bottling and repricing apparently makes some kind of sense to their marketing team, but for old time fans, it’s just confusing, and arouses suspicions of overall reformulation as well.
I suspect it’s because they imagine they’ll be doing most of their sales to new customers who have no memory of their classic past. But one does wonder who’s minding the store, and what this sort of churning will mean for their future.
