Happy Tuesday and happy Data Privacy Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto.
Reminder: on 1/31, celebrate Backward Day by reversing your usual perfume choice or routine in some way.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Gien Les Oiseaux Japanese Teapot ("First created in the 18th century, Gien's delightful Oiseaux de Paradis design is inspired by ancient Chinese birds of paradise porcelain while the coquille shape is reminiscent of French Rouen faience. Featuring a hand-painted blue filet, this charming tea pot will brighten up your teatime table.") is £195 at Harrods.
Tea is greek (Turkish) coffee
Shalimar body powder
Jealous of your Turkish coffee! And forgot to report my tea, which this morning was Lumbini Estate Ceylon with added cardamom, and is currently Numi Dried Lime.
Smelling heavenly after taking a shower with my new Chanel No. 19 soap and spraying lavishly on the EdP. I am wrapped in unique and absolute beauty today! ?
I bet that soap is great!
The smell, texture and quality are amazing.
I am sure the soap is fabulous and hope to get a couple bars soon.
I am pretty sure you will enjoy them a lot!
Way to go for it! Smelling good!
Thank you! ?
I was looking at that soap before Christmas (on the website) but haven’t bought. Probably I should give it to myself for my birthday next month.
You smell wonderful!
Probably!?
Probably, yeah!!
If they still make it, the body cream in No. 19 is special. SO luxe.
I have not been able to find the No. 19 body lotion anymore. It is so amazing!
Ummm, PL 67. Guess what I found!

OMG! Thanks a lot! I am in serious trouble now!!! Valentine’s present to myself? ?. It might happen! ?
The soaps would be a perfect birthday gift. Pure luxury!
You may get quite a few enabler pins out of this post!?
Ha! I might be in trouble now! ?
No 19 is fabulous! I still have a tiny bit of the shower gel, I treasure it!
I have not been able to find the shower gel either anymore. I wish it is back at some point along with the body lotion! They are both fantastic!
You do smell fantastic!Happy Tuesday!??
Thank you, Johanob. Happy Tuesday to you too! ?
One of these days I will do a side by side sniff of No. 19 EdT and EdP.
Let’s us know how different they are.
Want that pot!!!
I love Gien and have a few pieces myself, although not a Gien teapot.
SOTD is Mon Exclusif by Guerlain which is one of my great lavender loves.
You smell wonderful. I collect Gien Le Secret, which is a very small dessert pattern, haven’t seen a teapot associated with it, but maybe some day.
Le Secret has a hedgehog. I’m nuts about hedgehogs, for some reason.
I have some Gien Colette, Azur and Le petit prince. I wouldn’t mind having the full Azur line. It’s so pretty.
I’m collecting it for the squirrel and fox. 🙂
I’m so glad that NST exists, few of my friends my quirks, but people on here seem to share quite a lot of them.
This is another hedgehog I’m coveting ?

I meant understand my quirks.
Guerlain is making a showing today..house twins with you and Robin. Well, I am in the powdered perfume form
I’ve been wearing a lot of Guerlains lately. The weather is quite dreary and Guerlains are so comforting.
I love Gien. I have a set of dessert plates and matching platter that I treasure. Plus a couple of small square plates that I use more than one would think. That teapot could result in an enabler pin because it’s making me head over to eBay to look at the Gien for sale…
It’s made me visit the Gien website…
Look up the pattern…I realized after that the colors on other sites are much more vibrant than shown at Harrods. There is also a nice 15 oz cafe au lait cup.

Although if this picture is accurate, the colors *are* rather muted:

You enabler, you ?
I’ve visited the Gien factory shop in Gien a few times.
Let’s say it’s very nice and leave it at that.
LOL — yes, shall we? Or, option 2, you go back to Gien and get the teapot, and the 2 au lait cups and saucers, and the LOVELY blue ceramic tray in the 2nd picture. Then, presumably, you have me over for tea.
Excellent plan. I still need to visit the Musée de la Chasse anyway (it’s in Gien and was closed last time I was there).
That tea pot is gorgeous, the whole Oiseaux set is wonderful btw (i gave my mom the tea cup and saucer for her birthday a few years ago).
I like nice tableware but hardly buy it for myself. Though I started out with a few Ittala espresso cups 2 years ago, now I also have two big tea mugs…and two small bowls…so there is a start. slowly but surely ?
You are nearly 10 years younger than I am, and I’ve accumulated most of my nice mugs and bowls in the past 15 years, so there is definitely hope for you yet ?
?
Yup, I started my perfume obsession 4 years ago, and when I look at my collection of samples and bottles now i am still quite amazed about what a little but of dedication can do in such a short period.
?
I won’t spend this kind of money on a tea pot, but on tea cups, sometimes!
Lovely teapot!
I’m commando so far. Just out of the shower and trying to figure out my mood so I can decide on a perfume to either match it or boost it.
Tea is coffee and breakfast is a semi-burnt bagel, which is my attempt to disguise the fact it’s stale. I slathered it with blueberry jam and enjoyed immensely, thank you very much!
I’m leaning towards l’Elephant again…?
Stale is better than moldy, lol. Have a great day!?
Yeah, moldy is a whole other level. ?
Decided!

I’m not sure what I see… Have you decided to wear your dog instead? 😉
I’m a fan of semi-burnt bagels 🙂
A NY friend of mine insists that only stale bagels should be toasted. Fresh should not be toasted. I just laugh at her…
All this coffee talk may send me out for a latte. I need a serious caffeine boost today.
I’m doing a Diptyque week, so a fail for the cp but at least I smell good in Tam Dao.
I just dropped my car off to FINALLY get the windshield replaced. What started as a chip on the passenger side has grown into a crack over almost the entire thing.?Oops. When I first called my insurance company last fall they gave me two options. I chose the one closest to my house. They cancelled on me twice, the first time because the technician had called in sick and the second time because the windshield they had received was cracked. I dropped it off there yesterday morning and waited all day for them to call and when they did they told me they were not able to fix it because the windshield they had reviewed was cracked- again!? So, you keep my car for seven hours just to call and tell me the work wasn’t done!!? I was LI-VID? My husband had to talk me down, lol. I immediately called my insurance company and told them to find somewhere else. They did and in a couple of hours I will have my car back.? Rant over. Have a good day all!
I’d be livid too! I’ve been through 4(!) windshields and have learned if you don’t get the chip or crack fixed right away, eventually it will spread across the entire glass.
On another livid subject: I have health insurance but still had to pay out of pocket when I was sick a couple weeks ago. Why, you ask? Because it was open enrollment and they had assigned me a “member id” yet, and therefor we’re unable to even confirm I had a plan with them. Now, they pay the clinic thaT I ALREADY PAID, and I have to wait for the clinic to reimburse me, which could take up to four months! I was so angry, I threaten to change to a different agency so I don’t I have to deal with BC/BS. And my plan is a PPO!!! Rant over…I think ?
You can tell how livid I still am based on all those typos! Lol
This is why I’m afraid to return to the US and get private insurance…
Oh yeah, I would have been steamed too. Health insurance has gotten ridiculous. When I started at my hospital my plan was super reasonable. It’s quadrupled in cost PLUS copays and deductibles. I never saw a bill back in the day. The system is broken. And we work in healthcare!!?
We are having car repair nightmares as well, with Chevy dealership that has had our truck for two months collectively and it still isn’t fixed properly. :-/
At least you’re in Tam Dao! Hopefully that can help create a calming mood!
Oy vey on the windshield shennanigans! I hope that everything is properly fixed now.
Lovely teapot!
I’m drinking baked cinnamon apple which I’ve had 2 sips of and decided its not for me. Nauseating smell and taste, sadly.
SOTD: Iris Noble EDT
Yikes. Kind of the opposite of what you want in a tea or food product.
Nothing worse than a tea scrubber!
Bleah. Sounds like a horrible tea fail.
Spending the morning in Coromandel. I spent the past 20 minutes reading reviews on OPI’s spring summer line up. I am not too impressed with it. Which is a good thing. I was thinking of polishing my nails today.
Smelling goooood over there!!
The last dregs of a decant of NK Space Man, warm and woody for a cold winter day. A few years ago in London I found myself near a Space NK shop and went in to buy a bottle, only to be told that it had *just* been discontinued, like mere months ago, and there was none to be had anywhere. Just my luck.
Well drat.
Long time no check in, NST! Wearing Cuir Mauresque this morning. Hope everyone’s well!
welcome back
I was thinking of you this morning! I was reading about your weather. Hope all is well!
my feet have not been properly warm in a month ? But it’s supposed to jump up to the mid-20s tomorrow (-6 right now) so keep your fingers crossed for me!!
Oh they are!
Hi there! 🙂
I’m your twin, since I just got my nice-sized decant yesterday!
Hello there Dorsey! ?
Feeling very drugged from taking a new sleeping pill last night. I am so over insomnia, sigh. Also had a nightmare I was 14 weeks pregnant, at 53! OMG. I need something soothing this morning. Wearing Guerlain Le Parfum du 68.
That sounds like a proper nightmare. Never tried that particular Guerlain, but at least we are house twins.
Wow… That would keep me awake :). I’m sorry for your sleep issues. It’s so not fun! Hope, you’ll find some resolution without getting a brand new baby.
Haha!Thank goodness one can wake up from such a nightmare! You smell FABULOUS!!xo
So sorry about the sleeping pill working too well, this is why it is such a dilemma whether to take one or not (sigh).
Wow, that is not a good sleeping pill outcome.
Yes some of the hypnotics like ambien give the most vivid dreamscapes I could not escape.
Years later I still remember that feeling.
Onto babies, a dear friend is due in two days for a much wanted, long awaited for first baby.
I was on call until her mother in law arrived a few days ago as she lost her own mom when she was much too young.
Most of my friends are at grandparent age so this is exciting!
Working from home. Hives are under control so maybe some Camel ? post shower.
Habe you tried CBD oil? It helps a bit and has no hangover effect
Yes, and melatonin too. Didn’t have much effect unfortunately.
Tart Cherry Juice was mentioned by a fellow traveler to Mexico who wanted to try a non-medicated option. She also took melatonin…start with a low dose.
I’ve tried the tart cherry juice too. Nothing seems to work reliably for me except anti-anxiety medication in moderately low doses.
Hope you have a more rested sleep tonight without having a worse nightmare.
The day has already gotten worse – a bottle of precious irreplaceable perfume shipped from Germany has arrived broken and empty. Wail.
Oh no! That’s a disaster! Any way to get a refund?
I hope so.
Really? That doesn’t bode well for my recent purchase—
I am so sorry. It could have turned around the day, and now its just a hassle.
Hoping tomorrow is better– and that precious sleep comes tonight!!!
I hope your package arrives intact! The seller is sending me a replacement, thankfully. I hope both of us have a better night!
The nightmare continues – I just received a much- anticipated irreplaceable bottle of perfume from Germany, broken and empty. I am heartbroken.
Oh nooooooo.I am so sorry T!Sending hugs!!?????
Thank you johanob. Sniff. 🙁
Oh dang, I’m really sorry.
Ooh nooooooooooooo, thats just horrible.
I really hope something very GOOD happens to you very SOON. Hugs!
Thank you Jiji, me too!
Oh, what a huge disappointment!! So sorry about this.
Oh no! Was it from a private sale or a shop? That’s so sad. I do hope you have a better night’s sleep tonight.
I hope I sleep better too. It was technically from a shop, actually a small indie perfumer who works out of her house in Munich. The problem is it was the last bottle she had for sale, due to an ingredient shortage there wasn’t any more. She very generously offered to send me the last bottle she had, the one she was keeping for herself, as a replacement. Her name is Annette Neuffer. Very grateful for her making it up to me like this, I feel bad for both of us.
Oh, wow. That is unfortunate, but very kind of her. Never heard of her!
Oooooooof. What a day. I am pleased to hear that your perfume seller is doing her best to make it right for you.
Wearing Marni today and was in Bronze Goddess yesterday. Serious opposites! Enjoying Marni but already thinking of wearing BG again tomorrow.
BG is great! For me it would definitely fit the project. I should think about it for this Friday.
Plus, smelling great for 2 days!
Had a terrible past week. Took our dogs to be groomed last Wednesday (my husband did as I had a hectic workday), but when I got home I could see our littlest dog was squinting and both eyes were very red. I thought he was just sensitive to the shampoo the parlour had used, but over the next 24 hours he deteriorated so much that we had to take him (after hours, so hugely expensive) to a vet on Thursday night. On thorough examination, it transpired that he had HUGE bilateral corneal abrasions as well as a 5 x 4 cm strip under his chin that looked like it had been tackled by a skin graft cutter. The whole weekend was spent nursing the little guy and my husband was on call, so couldn’t really help. The doggo is better, but we still have to change his dressings twice a day and had to take him for a follow up appointment yesterday. I went to complain at the salon, but thus far the owner hasn’t even called to apologize. This would have been a job for hajusuuri to get justice for our little dog. SOT past few days: dog + disinfectant. Post shower: all the most comforting Lutens perfumes: Chergui, Santal Majuscule, Chypre Rouge.
That is just awful. Some groomers just lack patience with old dogs, or nervous dogs or whatever. It sounds like a proper nightmare for your little dog. I hope it makes a quick and full recovery.
I once had a similar thought not quite so awful experience. My dog used to be groomed by someone I trusted and still work with. The last time she did, my dog was completely out of sorts afterwards although I couldn’t find anything the matter with her physically.
I never took her back there. Had to tell some white lies, but my dog went to a friend who has great patience as well as great skill with all sorts of dogs and was never upset about being groomed again.
YOu are right not to take your dog back. We have used this parlour for the past seven years – from before having these doggies. But if your dog is out of sorts, that is a sure sign of something being not right. Our doggie ( a miniature Malteser and the sweetest, gentlest little doggie) seems to be suffering from PTSD. The vet said that his eyes were much better and his chin/chest wound seems to be under control (at least not getting septic and slowly granulating), but he just sits and shivers and is fed by hand and getting water with a syringe. He has no interest when the other two barks or runs to the gate.
Unless you plan to take your dog back to that place, look them up and leave a review on Yelp and wherever else you’ll find them. Things do happen. Not taking care of them afterwards (at least an apology!) is not acceptable.
We will never take them back. I haven’t been more assertive, because – as you rightly said – things do happen, but I am irked that they didn’t fess up and apologize immediately. I think that they tried to stem the bleeding with chemicals that got into the eyes and, had we known about it earlier, we would have acted earlier.
So sorry to hear this! And that is awful!!Their eyes are so full of love always, sad to think that someone would be so careless.Strongs!!
Thank you!
That’s terrible. Our dog only ocassionally gets nicked and once got a Staph infection that may have started with a cut at the groomers – but that they managed to hurt your dog’s eyes is just bad. Definitely something to yelp about! Hope doggo gets better fast and that you can find a different good groomer.
Thank you so much!
That IS terrible; poor little pup! Wishing for quick and thorough healing for him. Hope the SLs are working for you.
Poor dog ☹️
I hope he recovers quickly!
I am so sorry your doggie had to go thru all that. I stopped taking my old dog to the gromming place after the last 2 times he didn’t want to come out of his bed for several days. I am not sure what happened, but I didn’t want to risk something worse. Since then, I have been doing the grooming myself. Not easy, since it requires patience and
being very careful, but I want him to be safe and comfortable.
I learned now that dogs are really sensitive (we had all our dogs since being pups, and none of them had ever been treated badly, so they were the happiest and most carefree of creatures). This little one shows the behaviour that your dog showed. Something really bad must have happened for your dog not to want to come out of his bed for several days. We will also groom the dogs ourselves now, but it will be difficult, esp as one is a huge Bouvier.
Horrible people! I don’t trust anyone with T-Rex. I never leave her alone unless it’s at the vets and I have no choice. Thank god she is a wash and wear dog because I have seen some pretty brutal groomers. I hope you poor doggo recovers quickly. I would take that vet bill into the groomers place of business and cause a right hullabaloo! They’ll address the issue right away because they don’t want anyone in the waiting room to see the ruckus. I can’t stand people who are rough with animals, kids, and the elderly. Gets my hackles right up! Ugh!
You made me smile at least! Ugh x2, indeed!
I am so sorry for you and your sweet doggie. I don’t trust any groomers and always do it myself, but not everyone can manage to do this. I hope he heals up very quickly!
Thank you, Cazaubon (and Lillyjo and SmokeyToes!).
This is awful! Have you contacted the corporate office? I’m sorry for your pup.
Oh how awful! Poor doggie. I’m so sorry ya’ll are going through this.
I hope the owner calls with an apology very soon.
Perhaps call the corporate office?
So sorry for your dog! I just heard a similar story, but with someone’s pet rabbit. The rabbit actually died shortly after whatever they did to it at the grooming place. And they were similarly unresponsive.
Like Deva suggested, she did bring in the vet bill and report and they attended to her quickly so as not to scare off the other customers.
I do hope your dog heals quickly!
Awwwwww, poor dog!
Yikes, so sorry about the abuse. Did you take pictures? If I were you I would not only not pay the bill, I would have them pay the vet bill and medication as well! I hope your pup can get over the trauma, physical healing first, then continue to shower with love.
I looove that tea pot! I once gifted my mom a tea cup from that same line. She is a big fan of Gien.
SotD was Eau des Merveilles.
I can hardly detect it after 8 hours, but I dont mind, now there is room for another fragrance to wear when I am back home (commuting right now).
All the Merveilles dissapeared on me after an hour. Very fleeting. I wish I could get close to 8 hours.
Sometimes I think my nose just gets used to a smell and stops detecting it.
Because my husband reported this evening he could still smell it and that was after 12 hours (okay he was standing pretty close, but it was def there according to him).
Me too! Mine lasted through the day… I just gave myself another blast for the evening!
Iris silver mist!
Perfection!!
My third favorite Iris perfume. You smell perfect!
I am wearing Rose de Petra from a decant some kind NSTer sent me and am thinking about how sad I will be when it runs dry. What a wonderful combination of rose and sparkly cardamom.
And I am exceedingly grumpy because USPS appears to have delivered a perfume package for me to an apartment complex three Zip codes away >:o This is very, very sad for me. I have been looking so forward to this package all week. It should have contained Rose Jam and Iris Nazarena, and I’ve been particularly looking forward to dousing myself in Rose Jam. I’m trying to call USPS to figure out which apartment complex they delivered it to (the listing says it was delivered to a front desk/mail room) so I can go over and wander around like a creeper and hopefully see my package.
Sending you successful “perfume-hunting” vibes! I think you have a good chance of getting this, but the hassle is of course annoying. Good luck!
Thank you! Fingers crossed!
Good luck!
Thanks!
I feel your pain. My package arrived broken this morning.
Oof! How terrible 🙁 I’m so sorry. What was it?
Stardust by Annette Neuffer.
I hope the building it went to sends it back to the post office! Such a bummer when that happens.
Boo hiss on the post office ooooops! I hope that your package gets to you safe and sound ASAP.
Happy Tuesday NST!Day 2 of my week of Top 5 perfumes of all time, belongs to Amouage Beloved Women.Floral,herbaceous,animalic.I was surprised that the perfumer was Bernard Ellena,as I’m not too familiar with his work. But this is love my friends.Like Iris Poudre,be patient, because when that long awaited drydown arrives I am in pure perfume heaven.Good stuff!Hope everyone has a good week!XO
Happy Tuesday, I am not familiar with Beloved (the only Amouage I know are Gold and Journey), it must be a complex and wonderful perfume.
Well Gold and Journey are two wonderful perfumes to wear from Amouage!Beloved is not so readily available as far as I know,I guess that is why many people have not smelled it.
I love Beloved! You smell great!
Thanks Undina!
You smell awesome! You have reminded me to bring my decant to the front of my cabinet!
Please do!I can imagine you smelling gorgeous in Beloved as well!??
Beloved is gorgeous, you smell great!
Thank you my dear friend!Hugs!!
???
Beloved is beautiful. I had a sample of it and enjoyed it very much.
SOTD = April Aromatics Calling All Angels
This is one of my favorites from April Aromatics!
https://www.instagram.com/p/B73zVL5hcpO/?igshid=15csjqfw1febq
My little teaser yesterday about burning in h-ll despite going to church on Sunday was because I chose not to shake hands with people and pretty much said I don’t or prefer not to shake hands. The pastor asked people to turn and greet someone you don’t know and introduce yourself. In this day and age, that’s just as bad as drinking from the same communion cup (my church has little cups instead). Anyway, I probably should have offered to bump elbows instead. I’ll be ready next time. What would you do?
Simplest solution:wear gloves to church!Probably not good etiquette to NOT take them off when you have to shake hands with someone, but when forced who cares???
I adore Calling All Angels! You smell wonderful!
We were just talking about hand shakes yesterday at dinner after having received one limp and one clammy one in the same day when I usually don’t do a lot of hand shaking. I think some kind of formalized greeting is not a bad thing, but like you, I’m not a huge hand shake fan. I suggested the “upper arm pat”. The kids grimaced and thought fist pumps were better. But for church – I’d go with the arm pat, personally, or just bring a bottle of hand sanitizer for after?
bumps, not pumps!
I think it’s totally fine NOT to do something you don’t feel comfortable doing without even being apologetic. Smile, look into eyes and nod, not lowering your gaze to even notice somebody’s hand or, if you do notice, add just matter-of-factly: “germaphobic, never shake hands.”
Agree
How about a kiss on each cheek? ?
I don’t like shaking hands either, I carry hand sanitizer, wash as soon as I enter my house and avoid it as often as I can.
Sometimes customers want to shake my hand, and I say “I’m sorry I’m sick” but that probably wouldn’t work week after week. Fwiw, I think you will still end up in a comfortable climate!
How about I’m sorry I’m immune-compromised? Although perhaps that is too scary. Maybe “I’m sorry, I live with someone who is immune-compromised?”
I like the elbow bump idea.
Chanel Paris-Riviera for an early morning meeting. Perfect work perfume.
A beautiful no brainer. Yo smell great!
Thank you! It is definitely a no-brainer.
SOTD is Wrappings. 🙂
Wonderful choice.
Gorgeous!
Lovely and soothing.
Winter Woods
I’m wearing Mediterraneo for another gray, rainy Portland day, but had the most wonderful evening with friends visiting from California. We must try to get together more often.
Ah, maybe I need to wear that this week.
Day 2, Backwards day: Re-visiting a perfume that you designated to the swap pile. In may case, Moulin Rouge. I’m still thinking I might swap it, but I like it much better today than I did initially, so it might move from “swap for anything” to “swap only for the right thing”…
Ah, interesting!
Majda Bekkali’s Mon Nom est Rouge for me today. I was cutting up some ginger for a dessert last night, and was keen to keep smelling it today. Mon Nom est Rouge is my most gingery perfume.
I have a feeling I want that dessert.
I feel like a human being (that makes me think of Dorothy Parker in I live for your visits) again after a good night at last. Appreciated very much and I think answered today the nice good wishes.
Today I felt like wearing Jolie Madame, my EDT is older but not quite vintage I think, I save my extrait for special occasions, but honestly, it’s a very strong EDT and projects a lot.
I checked a few times to make sure you were not up last night, lol, cause I was up till one thirty! Glad your feeling well today ?
I was up at 1:30 too, we need an insomniacs chat room. 🙂
Oh Cazaubon, we share insomnia at the moment. Yes, we might start a club 🙂
Thank you so much Lillyjo, so thoughtful of you, you’re a real friend 🙂
Just clapping at your shout out to Dorothy Parker!
I have a very fragile old collection of poetry given to my grandma by a beau when she was young. I guess the fellow knew he was on the way out. His love note said, “So long as I have yesterday,
Go take your damned tomorrow!”– of course that is DP. Years after she died (my grandmother that is) I tracked down the son of the man, who was a musician and was fascinated to learn of this romance of his father’s, not all that long before his father married his mother. Super sadly, the son died very shortly after we connected. Anyway, I love DP because she actually reminds me of my grandma, who was full of rhymes and witticisms.
What a fascinating story! I’m sad about the son dying.
It seems we really share an appreciation of Dorothy Parker 🙂 What a touching story about your grandmother and her beau. She must have been a marvellous woman. So sorry about your connection with his son having ending with his death.
Glad to hear that you had a decent night’s rest last night. Here’s hoping that trend continues! ?
Thank you Jalapeno, you’re a star to think of me and my insomnia problem, my cat used to sleep next to my head and I don’t have her anymore, I think that’s why I have trouble falling asleep. On the plus side the days I can’t sleep I can answer NST comments quicker 🙂
Incense week continued with mb03 by maison biehl. A very dry and introspective scent. Perfect for work or relaxing.
That’s a good one, I love it too.
Anatole Lebreton Grimoire for me today.
I really liked that one, but I’ve only sampled it once. I need to pull out my sample soon.
SOTD is TF Tobacco Oud. Angela did a nice review of this, and I share her sentiments. I don’t think this gets much love here, though; maybe Tobacco Vanille is the fan fave. (I need to smell that one.)
I’ve never smelled that one, but I like tobacco vanille and oud wood.
I’m wearing Miu Miu today. I smell like spring. I really like Lily of the valley. I think most people don’t. Anyone have a favorite? Big district visit tomorrow so work stinks today.
After Diorissimo, probably the sadly gone DelRae Debut, then maybe EllieD, then maybe Un Coeur en Mai.
But nothing comes close to vintage Diorissimo.
Thanks Robin. I don’t recall ever smelling Diorissimo, it’s probably time to seek it out. The only lotv I’m really familiar with is Jessica Mcclintock.
Never tried Ellie D, but agree with what Robin just said. Odalisque is another interesting lily of the valley as is Muguet Porcelaine.
I forget that muquet is lotv!
I like LOTV. I really like the CdG Lily, and ELDO Yes I Do is a fun one- better for cooler weather since it has a marshmallow note.
I have been eyeing that Eldo.
I agree with Robin about Diorissimo. Nothing beats the vintage extrait.
Thanks pl67!
Add me to “Team Vintage Diorissimo”! I also fondly remember the Jessica McClintock from way back when. And I always thought that the original version of Anais Anais had LOTV in it.
You could be right, it’s been a long time since I’ve smelled it though.
Finally finished grading midterms, so I’m thinking I need some scented reward, no? I’m not really lusting over any “moderate” indulgences, though, so I might have to just keep saving up my mental justifications.
SOTD is Infusion D’ Amande
Yay, congrats to you!!
I’m planning to wear Francesca Bianchi perfumes all week, assuming I can pick 5 that are work appropriate. Today’s is Angel’s Dust. It’s beautiful – sweet powdery with a musky, naughty edge. I think the description on her website says it perfectly:
“This scent, reminiscent of an elegant boudoir exuding aromas of wood closet, facepowder and lipstick, is designed to seduce.
A combination of flowers, musk and Mysore sandalwood make it at first powdery, velvety and innocent.
Some oriental resins then release an intense rush of decadent sensuality.”
Sounds nice- a little like Oriza Jardin d’Armide, maybe?
I think I swapped that one away (to you, maybe?), but it’s definitely possible. Angel’s Dust reminds me of another perfume I’ve smelled before, but I haven’t figured out what it is yet.
SotD is Zoologist Elephant, the last of my three samples I got to try from that house.
It smells beautiful… But is SO not me.
Won’t lie, half heartbroken that none of these Zoologist samples made me fall in love – but also half relieved that my wallet won’t be raided to pick up a bottle!
I went to Perfumarie in NYC and did their “blind” tasting of January, and so I’ll get to find out what perfume I chose in just a few days!
The notes they listed for me were “ginger, cardamom, coriander and vetiver” which could be anything from cheap to super pricey perfumes.
Won’t lie, I think it may be a cheaper option as the longevity isn’t amazing, but it has such a lovely icy-cold texture to it that I’m not mad.
Oh, fun! Looking forward to hearing what it was. That’s a cool place, but I’ve never done the perfume “flight” thing.
Sometimes it’s nice to give one’s wallet a break. ?
In Dzongkha for an early morning meeting in SF. I enjoyed being in the city, but had to hurry home for work…
Off topic, not for the squeamish, update on living in the Bay Area these days: Super sleepy. Did not get a full night’s rest and I am feeling it. My reason will surely impress you. Our alarm went off at about 2 AM, and it is very loud. Clambering out of bed, stumbling to the keyboard, punching in the wrong code 15 times… the whole time the siren is blaring. But that is not the worst part. Ready for it. Brace yourself. We have had a rat invasion and one set off the glass break alarm by somehow dragging a trap across out kitchen floor. Not yet fully grossed out? My husband said there was a leg still in the trap. Yep. We’ve caught 7 rats in total over the past 5 days, in our basement and in our KITCHEN. This is the single most distressing thing to happen to us in this house. So so gross. We have a really clean house, I assure you. And now of course we are not leaving fruit out in a bowl on the counter at night or anything… they were coming through a hole we haven’t yet found to eat the cat food. I don’t want to use poison because one of our cats will catch rodents from time to time…. and he got really sick last time he brought me a errrr well “trophy” he’d caught out back. The vet said he probably ingested some rat poison (I know at least one of my neighbors must have been contending with the same invaders!)
Oh no, that is ghastly. :-0. I hope you can find the hole and get that problem fixed quickly!
?? Gross!
Deeply, profoundly, can’t unsee it, GROSS!!
I’m just going to say I’m sorry you are dealing with this. I would be having the worst anxiety! Maybe there are professional’s?
Very scary! Hope that problem gets solve quickly. I can’t imagine the stress that might be causing you!
OMG, I am so sorry. Even the little tiny mice we get from time to time freak me out.
Hello Y’all,
Going full on SUMMER in Nateeva St Martin! Take that, cold weather! pew pew pew! 🙂
Awesome Jada!?
Hello NST! I’ve been a bit of a klutz today, but I will take that over yesterday’s emotional YUCK. Not sure why I was dropping things all over the place. I didn’t break anything, so no harm, no foul. Tuesday was indeed an improvement.
SOTD = commando today. I didn’t want to risk a perfume picking up an unwanted association this morning, so I abstained. I suspect that I will be back to my perfumed ways very soon though.
Good plan Jalapeno, it’s not worth the risk of bad association. Hope tommorow is better!
I could have put on a perfume this afternoon, since klutzy isn’t a good reason to skip perfume. No bad vibes for me today!
Omg what a brilliant idea to not wear perfume you love on a day you may hate…. I’m totally going to remember that!!!!
Glad today was at least somewhat better Jalapeno!
Cristalle!
Perfection.
Hello! Last night/early this morning scent: Demeter Baby Powder, which I found at the local Marshall’s last week. Blind buy pretty much, but for $7 for an ounce, I was okay with that. I like it better than I like some much more expensive fragrances. LOL. It’s nice, and didn’t come across to me as too strong. Pleasant and inoffensive works well for me. 🙂
This evening: Dabbed from a sample of SL Lavande et Encens. Speaking of something that would be much more expensive for an ounce…I really do like this one, but not enough to buy a whole bottle of it. Sadly, I need to pay bills. So it goes.
