We're welcoming the Year of the (Gold) Rat with our same old open thread poll. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the last fragrance sample you thunked, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…
Note: the US Lunar New Year stamp for 2020 is 55 cents. "With blue as the predominant color — said to be one of the lucky colors for individuals born during the Year of the Rat — the rat mask in the stamp design incorporates elements with symbolic meaning. Several of the patterns were created with the style of Asian textiles and the circle in the center of the rat’s head represents the new moon on which the Lunar New Year begins. A pop of the very lucky color red ties the design in with other common celebratory decorations. Art director Antonio Alcalá designed the stamp with original artwork by Camille Chew."
You smell lovely.
Thank you! I have been wearing it seven days straight.
What are you wearing?
SSS Winter Woods is my translation. Wow, that many days straight? I seem to be too fickle to manage more than two days in a row of anything.
Yes! Winter Woods. I am trying to keep my life simple and not in a sampling mood. It’s so wonderful and gets me compliments that I keep reaching for it.
I admire your dedication. I can hardly stand to wear the same thing two days in a row, like my brain is saying, “THAT old thing?” on the second day.
Ha! Well I tend to be feast or famine. I can sample dozens of fragrances a day for a week in a testing frenzy but then spend seven weeks in just one….
You are definitely in a perfume groove right now.
Must buy those stamps. I’m a sucker for stamps, and those are pretty as anything. Happy new year all. Blessings and prosperity to you.
Not what I intended, but it’s looking like staying inside is a wise thing today. Cold, blustery, rainy. Just removes all motivation to get out. (I was actually out very early today, but am now back inside…). Maybe I’ll finish some knitting projects…
Sampling Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud I don’t do much Oud generally. There’s a dustiness to it that doesn’t appeal. Will see how this develops and maybe check back in as it dries down….
I only like oud in incense form, not perfume
Love the stamps too. ❤️
Me three1 Best looking rats ever.
JM Velvet Rose and Oud is a pretty, non-dusty oud. It lasts a good while too. I best liked the dry oil I used up pretty quickly.
I agree, those stamps are gorgeous!
I just ordered mine through USPS.gov
I loove the stamp! Need to figure out how to get some. I’m in Ventiane by PPP. It’s helping me keep calm and work on in the face of some very important deadlines
You smell great!
I guess I’m still doing the CP because your post prompted me to wear Vientienne to brunch this morning. I love this one.
Love Vientiane! Great for a sandalwood fix.
The USPS has a lot of cool stamps on their website that I haven’t ever seen at my local post office.
I’m test driving new Diptyque, Eau Capitale. It is a very, very pretty rose chypre. I might want to add it to my collection.
Together with dad we’ve visited mum at the hispital. It’s been only 24 hours after the surgery but she seems well. Of course the leg hurts but she’s already started little walking today.
Have a good weekend.
Wishing your mom a speedy recovery!
Ugh, I wanted to try this one at Nordies, but someone swiped the tester. It sounds lovely.
I’m glad to hear your mom is on the mend. It’s good to get up and walking as soon as possible after a procedure. Hopefully her recuperation goes well!
I loved last years small bottles. I wish they would do for their whole line.
Shame on them, hope you get to try it next time you’re around.
With knee replacement it is highly recommended to start moving as soon as possible so that scars are more elastic later on.
That’s frustrating about the tester! I wonder if another store in Houston has it?
I’ve never seen Diptyque anywhere else at the Galleria. Possibly Sloan Hall, or is that just really high end stuff?
It might be at the Nordstrom up in the Woodlands. I rarely make it up there.
No, Sloan/Hall has cut way back on their perfumes. I think all they have now are the Carons. They have those big urns there. Well, maybe K-L will get the new Diptyque in sometime soon. Since I go by there often, I’ll check.
best wishes for your Mother’s swift recovery…keep walking!!
Thanks on my mum’s behalf.
Thanks for weighing in on the new Diptyque and a speedy recovery for your mom.
My pleasure. It’s worthy a note.
The best wishes to your mother.
On my last visit to the store I didn’t find either a new Diptyque or new Jo Malone. Very annoying. I’ll have to try it another time.
What’s the new Jo Malone? There is only 1 counter in Poznań and it’s not on my usual way home from work so you know… ?
It’s Vetiver & Golden Vanilla I believe.
I tried Eau Capitale as well but it was a bit shrill on me. Need to test again. Best wishes for your mom’s recovery!
Wonder if you change your mind next time.
Just tried it again today, definitely not for me.
Hope Mom has a speedy recovery!??
Glad she’s doing so well! My mom did one knee last year and is doing the other this spring.
I hope her recovery goes well. Knees are complicated joints. Hope she can be patient but I’m sure she’ll have lots of help!
Best wishes for an easy convalescence to your mother.
Best wishes to your Mum. It is just amazing how well folks heal from this nowadays, the technology keeps advancing and recovery gets easier.
Best wishes for your mom’s continued good progress and recovery. ?
The stamps are so charming!
In bed with coffee, everyday this week was a 4:30am alarm. Oye ve
Post shower a few sprays of all saints incense riot which was a free sample at nordies
And while not riotous, is very wearable for this incense lover.
4:30 am?! Yikes
Definitely calls for coffee in bed on Saturday.
Bletch on the 4:30am wake up.
Ouarzazate + Ancient Resins today. Ahhh….
You smell fabulous Nancy!
Oh, I think I will do that tonight.
I should have added a hat tip to Elisa P for clueing me in on this combo. ?
Love the stamps, I buy a sheet of lunar ones each year. These are very different.
SOTD is TF Lost Cherry, sample from a friend. Unlike other opinions I’m not a huge fan of the cherry blast opening, but very much like the dry down. And bonus, my hubby said “you smell good”! So maybe I’ll start saving my pennies for a full bottle.
I think I saw a bottle on fragrancenet
I loved it at first sniff!Saving up for a bottle asap! You smell delicious!!
SS Corvin’s Apple Fest Burnishing Glacé which is a moisturizing spray with scent and oil.
This one has some apple in the top notes but mostly vanilla goodness to my nose. Quite persistent throughout the day and as it wafts around me I keep thinking…mmm, what’s that smell?…who smells so good?…and it’s me…it’s always me. ?
Out of stock!
Inspired by Hajusuuri’s instagram, I dug out my sample of Phi: Une Rose de Kandahar. Heaven! I wonder if some of this should be ordered….
Yes,it should be ordered!Hoarding mine for “special occasions”!Haha!
You smell great! one of my top ten desert island keepers
I have it. I love it. I need to get it out and enjoy it!
Me too…MAKE a damn special occasion out of laundry day/going to work/posting bail for someone….hahaha!?
SOTM is Ummagumma for coffee and crossword puzzling. Then I plan to make more progress on painting my little home office. It’s a little over halfway done, but the parts left to do are the hard ones, like around the window frames and above some built-in cabinetry, which is why I’ve been procrastinating. Am hoping that saying it out loud (so to speak) to you all will give me the impetus to get in there and Get It Done.
If you get it done this weekend it will feel so great! Do you need to do prep, like taping or moving stuff? That is a pain. Maybe you can tell yourself that you will just do an hour and see how much can be done. Is there a podcast you like – maybe do a podcast-length stint?
Not done, but I made progress! Yes, I have to move furniture, and tape … and it’s taking two coats of primer because I’m going over chocolate brown walls. The brown paint came with the house – wouldn’t have been my choice. And whoever did the last paint job did a really slap-dash job, so there are paint drips all over the molding. Luckily the molding is painted white, so I’m covering the brown drips with primer, and once that dries I’ll do the rest of the taping to make nice sharp lines at the bottoms of the walls. Eventually we will hire someone to repaint all the trim – there is no way my poor old back would stand up to that.
I just finished my favorite crossword (favorite because it is not too easy and not too hard) on NYer.
Hope you have that painting long since done SheriG!
Soon … very soon. Still have the bits near the ceiling and above the built-ins, but I think if I wait for the lower parts of the wall to be thoroughly dry I’ll be better able to steady myself on the ladder that is required to reach the high parts.
No perfume today , just some Shalimar body powder. I will report back with my SOTD
Reading two books, Storytellers of Marrakesh and The Charioteer
I am finally permitting myself a book of fiction! I have a brand new copy of Colson Whitehead’s Underground Railroad sitting on my bedside table. I am hoping I get this silly article I am writing today done quickly, and can start the book. Which of the Renault books have you liked best so far? When you are done with your Renault reading, let me know which one I should read either again or anew.
I liked Underground Railroad very much. Would love to hear your thoughts once you get into it.
Put on my scarf this morning, which smelled of l’Elephant, so I added another spritz. ??
We’re out of the GC today and hitting the road. Perfect time to visit; no bugs, no crowds, and minimal heat.
That being said, if your doing serious hiking or heading down into the canyon, shirtsleeves are all you’ll need. Only if you’re inactive or after dark will you need a coat. Parked anywhere I liked, no problem. Unimpeded views for miles. Perfect timing. Smell well this weekend! ✌?
Sounds like heaven, even if I suspect I would need a coat!
Hermes Eau d’Orange Vert before my bath, probably commando afterwards, at least until bedtime.
Between getting re-settled in a new town and being sick all week, I feel like I’ve been on another planet. No frags for awhile. Today so far, wearing only my lotion bar, which is cedar/hazelnut from Lo Lo. I have come to love that thing — it’s really helping my skin adjust to this extremely dry climate, and my hands aren’t cracking anymore. At first I didn’t like the waxiness, but that quality isn’t apparent after application. I bought the bar from the maker in the vending hall at the Houston International Quilt Expo last fall, and I really liked her. I will be ordering more of her product online. I’m really jonesing for the frankincense bar. I am on a mission to reduce my plastic use, and I like the bars b/c they come in a refillable metal tin. I’m also using a Vunella shampoo bar that I bought b/c of an IG ad. It’s hard for me to find shampoo that I like. I have very fine hair and can’t stand anything that adds buildup, and this bar works really well for me. I suspect that Lush would be just as satisfactory for me, and cheaper.
The idea of a frankincense bar is very intriguing to me! Does that person sell online? Isn’t the quilt show fantastic–overwhelming!
Just bought that frankincense and myrrh bar plus some samples in other scents. Love this stuff!
I love the Houston quilt show. I like to hunt down art pieces made by friends. Last year, I got to have a piece in the show, too. Very exciting to see the big SAQA shows, too.
The sun is out today after 3 weeks of rain, so I am going outside to enjoy it while I can. I’m wearing PdM Delina.
3 weeks of rain??? Yuk.
In Bois Sacre (Arte Profumi) and smell amazing, if I may say so myself.
Had a small perfume dilemma this AM. I am not a regular peruser of eBay, but last night I wound up on one of those aimless window shopping journeys on eBay and Etsy… and probably clicked a few “watch this item” links… so this morning I had an email in my in box from one seller, making an offer on a new, sealed box, 100 ml, of
Volnay’s Brume d`Hiver. This price is amazing. But, I smelled this frag years ago and can barely remember it–I do remember liking it a lot, but that is all. So the price is really good, but I spent so much on perfume recently that plunking down another Benjamin for something I am not actively craving, feels reckless. So I wrote back and thanked the seller, but said no. What do you think?
I think you did the right thing. My policy is if you’re not sure, the answer is no.
I am definitely not sure. Thanks for your affirmation. This would definitely be a purchase because of the great price, not the great need!
I’m a sucker for a discount, but I’ve managed to curb that tendency a bit more over the years. I ask myself if I would buy it at full price – if the answer is no, then don’t buy it just for the deal.
Ooo, good rule! I will try to remember that.
I try to envision the bottle on the shelf with my other perfumes and think how I will feel about seeing it there. I just returned my Ambre Vanille because even though it was a great deal, it just didn’t belong.
Have you ever shopped on mercari (no affiliation)? I found a deal on there when I was searing for my Shalimar replacement but didn’t pull the trigger because I wasn’t sure about this website.
I’ve heard mixed things about Mercari. Some good, but also the negative, like not getting an item and some fakes.
A person can end up with way too much stuff because of good prices. I have moved twice in the last 4 years, and have purged heavily each time, always mystified as to how I accumulate.
I feel like I need to move for just that reason! We have been in this house 20 years, it is too long.
Good call on passing up the perfume deal. 100 mLs of “Like” is too much perfume. Not worth it.
Wearing Bengale Rouge today, on my way out to have Vietnamese food for lunch. It started off very gray & depressing but fortunately it has burned off and is sunny now.
You smell great and are having delicious food, I’m sure.
Yum, Vietnamese food! ?
Wearing Guccims The Alchemist’s Garden An Ode on Melancholy, A Winter’s Melody and Last Day of Summer layered together and I love it!
And the names all mesh nicely
I was packing some samples to take to Hawaii and found one for Cult of Scent In the Woods., so that is what I am wearing. Seems quite masculine but fresh on me.
Love Hawaii! What island are you visiting?
Happy Lunar New Year everyone!Love the stamps, they kinda incorporated the Pantone Color of the year with the blue as well.
SOTD!Portrait of a Lady, inspired by Perfumelover67 mentioning yesterday that it reminds her of me!LOVELOVE,will always feature in my Top 5 of all time!
So today I tackled THE COLLECTION.I sent Cazaubon a pic via email of the mayhem, but it was fun digging into my perfumes, rediscovering some forgotten ones, and bringing stuff to the front of the cupboards that I have been dying to wear!
I have a challenge on next week with a fellow perfumista/co-worker.We will wear our Top 5 and the other must guess what it is!Challenge accepted!
Hope everyone has a safe and relaxing weekend!
Twins! I am also wearing Portrait of a Lady today because of you! Such a perfect scent! You smell divine! ?⚘
Oh yay!!WE smell exquisite!!???♥️
No doubts! ??
I’m so glad you are back and wearing perfume again!
Thank you my friend!Somehow we always return to what makes us happiest, eventually. That”s what I believe anyway.
I believe that too. This is a year for returning to old loves for me.
A song for you johano!
Hahaha!!That sing was released in the year of my birth,1976!(The year of the Dragon,by the way!).Thank you for the warm welcome, with a song!!
Then it was more perfect than I originally thought! ???
Nice to see you on here again
From the responses to your post, I gather you’ve taken a perfume hiatus? I’m just curious, because that’s what I did. I did it because I went into a Spartan mode and wanted to curb my spending. I believed my collection was more than I could use, and that I should focus on what I already had. My collection isn’t all that big, comparatively.
I managed to smell POAL for the first time last summer, and thought of the posters here at NST who absolutely love it.
That sounds like a fun challenge!
We’re having a lovely day here, weather-wise. I think I’ll go for a walk in a bit.
Happy Lunar New Year! I decided to go look up my ‘year’ — apparently I am a rabbit. However, the Vietnamese calendar substitutes cat for rabbit, which I definitely prefer, so I’m sticking with ‘cat’ for me
Sampling today… currently, A Lab On Fire Hallucinogenic Pearl. Great name, but I have no idea what that has to do with scent, which is a mild leather.
Awwww… Pixel’s a wabbit!
The website I am looking at says, “Rabbits are earnest with everything they do; they just ask that others treat them the same way.”
I was born in the year of the horse. Nuf said.
Another horse here. ?
I’m a rabbit too, but I like the idea of a cat alternative!
I’m an ox, and resemble the sign personality-wise. Sometimes, if I’m missing sleep, I even feel like one. ??
I sampled that this morning too, it was a strange aromachemical smell on me. Pass.
Happy Lunar New Year! ?
Wearing FM Portrait of a Lady, just because it reminds me of Jonabob and I love the scent immensely!
I wish I had stay home today relaxing because of the super rainy weather, but I had a busy one taking my dog to the vet and running errands. Now I am home having pasta and a glass or two of wine. So good!
Have a happy weekend everyone!
I hope you have a relaxing evening, pl67, and can swan around at home in perfume tomorrow. ?
Thank you, Nancy! I will have a very low key rest of the weekend! ?
Hooe the pasta and wine ended your day on a good note M!We did smell fabulous!???
It did! Watching a late tv movie now. Hope you have a great Sunday! ?
Sunday is almost over!Relaxed summers’ day!
Rainy day vet trip twins! Glad to hear that you had a relaxing day of chilling out today.
I had a pretty relaxing Sunday for sure! I am glad you enjoyed your steak and beer! Hope kitty is doing fine!
Happy New Year! I love the stamps as well.
Wearing Cathexis I’m No Angel.I will be very sad when I finish this small bottle. It is the loveliest rose and chocolate note scent ever.I always start reaching for it when it gets closer to Valentine’s Day.I received it from someone on MUA when you could still swap there. The company is long out of business from what I can find out online.Grateful I found it for however long it lasts.
Oh, it sounds nice, sorry it is almost gone!
Summer seems to be here for a day or two, and I’m wearing the appropriately summery Jour d’Hermes Absolu. I haven’t been imagining that our summer has been rubbish, there are newspaper articles appearing about just how cold and cloudy my city has been compared to the rest of New Zealand
Boo! That’s just not fair.
A friend of mine here is home in China with her family for the holiday in Beijing. Her husband posted pictures today. They said everything is closed and most people are staying inside. When outdoors they wear face masks. It sounds frightening.
My SOTD is Memo Marfa. I visited Mom and they were having wine at an afternoon social hour. I sat at a table with three octogenarians and they were all named “Betty”!
So 3 Betties? Or Bettys? That’s pretty funny! I imagine if you take off a decade or two, they would be three Carols, and if you take of 3 or 4 decades, it would be three Jennifers…
Then come the Ashleys, then the Emmas….
This song seem to fit in here: https://youtu.be/1nN_5kkYR6k
I went to a neighborhood party years ago where there were six of us around a table, all with rhyming names. Sheri, Barry, Larry, Terry, Mary, and I forget the last one. We had silly fun with that.
Haha! That must have been a fun evening!
Was at the library volunteering today, in Jil Sander Sun so as not to offend but tonight I’m wearing vintage 10, Corso Como, PerfumeLover67 inspired me earlier this week. I retrieved it from the balcony chest where I keep part of my growing collection also because the chest is well organized while the bottles inside the flat are in disarray at the moment, it’s my goal to put them in order asap but I always seem to be doing something else.
You smell fabulous! I have been planning to organize my perfume cabinet again for weeks already, but something else comes on the way. It is not an easy task, but it needs to be done, especially when I want to take out some unloved ones to be rehomed.
Yes!Just DO IT!I did last night, and I feel so accomplished!Plus the discovery of what you ACTUALLY own is a thrill!??
I agree! It is so reliving from you do some purging and organizing in your collection and discover many of your forgotten friends all the way back in the cabinet. I feel very encouraged now to spend some time today doing that!
Hope you got to it!Send a progress report!??
Congratulations, I managed only one shelf. Yes, there’s the reward or rediscovering bottles too long neglected. I arranged all my Annick Goutal perfumes.
I agree! I’ve been working on organising mine, and have made good progress, and also discovered several I’d forgotten that I have, the best of which was CdG Daphne–woo-hoo!
Well done on the organizing, and finding forgotten treasures, mine is still a work in progress.
OMG, so envious of your Daphne! I waited too long and missed out.
Only one shelf done Johano, all my Annick Goutal bottles. They are such pretty bottles.
Thank you PL67, Corso Como is just right for this time of year, thank you for reminding me of it. Well I’ve done one shelf so that’s a start, three more to go.
I tend to organize or rearrange my perfumes when I want to avoid doing something else, or if I get something new.
I am the opposite! ?
If you come and organize my desk drawers, I will come organize your perfume! Lol
Sounds scary from both sides! ?
That’s great Lillyjo, wish I were this way.
No organization with my perfume bottles at all, so even an attempt is better than what I am doing. ?
Happy Chinese New Year,
I also ❤️ those stamps.
I tried Guerlain LPRN from a fiends sample and really like it.
I had only tried Black Perfecto before which was a NoGo for me.
The mini bottles are also adorable. A stay on the couch by the fireplace all day for us. Still tired.
You smell lovely
Showered this morning and thunked my bottle of AT Wowilla body oil. I was planning on wearing PHI after the comments yesterday, but there was a bit left in a small decant of Rose Omeyyade. In my head, I think of this one as Rose OMG since it’s so rich. PHI will have to wait for another day.
Need to bathe the pupster and make a pot of beans today. The Perfume Legends book by Michael Edwards was a Christmas present, and I need to crack it open! I finally found it last fall at a price I was willing to pay. When it arrived, I peeked inside….mistake! I was totally engrossed. But I handed it over to the hubs for safekeeping. ?
Y’all have a lovely Sunday!
Do report back about book
Thunk twins, sorta!
Did you get the new version or the old one?
The old one, his first.
That’s the one I have
Leaving in a couple minutes for the art museum. I didn’t realize that the Cleveland Art Museum is one of the best in the country. Wearing vintage Dioressence edt. I don’t wear a lot of Dior but had a craving for it.
You smell wonderful! Hope you enjoyed the museum.
Yes, it has a marvelous collection! Would love to have you report back on what you saw and liked.
Vintage Dioressence! I just went weak in the knees.
Safron Troublant today.
Beautiful quiet night with clear skies and stars sparkling brightly on a bed of black velvet. Times like this I wish I had my good camera with me to try and capture it.
As I was star gazing, ohhing and ahhing over the incredible luster in the pitch black, I tripped over something and fell flat on my face. That’s how I roll. ??
Lovely image, but I had to laugh at the ending. Usually I lie flat on my back to stargaze, it’s safer.
Good point! I’ll have to remember to fall backwards next time. ?
Oh dear! I hope you weren’t hurt!
No, just had a good laugh at my lack of grace. ?
Excellent. Definitely something I would do.
I’m envious of your stargazing opportunity! Not easy to do in the ‘burbs where I’m at. ⭐
Sampled Zoologist Hyrax yesterday and it INTENSE. Did not dislike, but I don’t know that I feel comfortable bringing that into other people’s space, sometimes I was like “whoa I need a break myself.” What a roller coaster of a scent.
Recovering today with Santa Maria Novella Acqua di Colonia Russa. Leather and civet and musk, but in a super fresh and soft classic format. It’s my go-to reset scent for my nose.
Yes, that Hyrax pretty much made me gag.
Rough night with the dog, she decided she was bored and wanted to get up at 3:30. I am still tired. Wearing Piguet L’Insomnuit because it fits how I feel.
I know exactly how you feel! Our cat usually behaves, but once in a while he decides midnight that he’s bored and wants our attention. And since he normally isn’t allowed into the bedroom, he starts meowing and banging on the door. I have my methods of calming him down but usually the next day is hard for me.
I’m wearing Clive Christian 187-something over Tocca Stella body cream. Yum!
That Stella body cream is yummy.
We went to an exhibition about the Aztecs, which was really good and then tried a Szechuan restaurant. The food was really good and seemed authentic. I had pork belly with bell peppers in a aromatic oil, the boyfriend tried beef and beefs innards as a cold salad.
I wore Moulin Rouge for the day, now Vintage Shalimar EdT for the evening.
Sounds like a great day!
We went to Disneyworld Animal Kingdom. In the Africa or Asia section, they were burning a lovely, slightly floral incense— not at all headshop-y. I asked if they sold it and they said no but said Epcot did. I should have asked to see the box.
Anyone have any recs? I see that Epcot sells Morning Star. I know some of you use Nippon.
I can’t help but do tell us if you find it!
I remember there was incense sold at the Japan pavilion, which was my favorite shop at Epcot.
Today I’m wearing Dior Pure Poison on my neck and Hypnotic Poison on my wrists because I’m still trying to decide what to use my ULTA points on.
HPdoesn’t work for me as I get a plastic note from it, maybe the liquorice.
I have a love/ hate relationship with it myself. I’ve taken it off the list. Lol. I might just end up getting make-up and a cheaper perfume to share with my daughter.
HP was an EPIC fail on me. I smelled like my dad’s sore muscle liniment!! ?
Oh gosh! Lol
It seems we three struggle with HP.
Aurora is your day just starting now or is it the middle of the night?
It was 2am, trouble sleeping, I think we are 5 hours apart.
Scent for morning church: Kiss Me Intense. I do enjoy this one and may actually go through the bottle.
Agnès the kitty woke me up this morning by coming into the bedroom and meowing very loudly. Of course, she ran as soon as I called out to her. Sometime later when I sat up, she sat just outside our bedroom door and carried on quite the conversation…from a distance. We have this feeling that if she gets over her skittishness, she’ll be quite the calico diva personality.
Oh, and enabler pin to Robin. I actually went online and bought the lunar new year stamps, as well as the state and county fair ones.
Agnes kitty will come around eventually but she sounds like a character.
Agnes kitty sounds a little sassy. It’s great reading about how she is coming out of her shell.
I don’t mind enabling stamp purchases at all
Greetings and happy New Year to all. I was meh about the stamps until I got one on a letter and the colors won me over. Random thought: did anyone see the new Febreze Air Wood – with OUD? I somehow think there is something to “unpack” there. I have an ad and a coupon in my Sunday paper. May run out at lunch Monday to see if Kroger has it though I’ve never used Febreze and don’t think I’d want my house to smell like oud. The coupon magazine heading is “Smells Like Style.” Perfume-wise, I got all completist with Champs-Elysees. The parfum is a delight. I already had and loved the edt. Honestly, the Too Much flankers don’t thrill but now I have those lovely bottles. *Blushes and sighs over budget.*
Febreze Oud! Thank you, that will have me smiling all night.
My husband is a rat. I mean he was born during a year of the rat. ? ? I think mine is the rabbit. Beautiful stamps.
I used Korres violette shower gel this morning followed by Au Pays blah, blah… Violette Sacree. That is one seriously long perfume name.
Au Pays Blah sounds good I have Au Pays Blah Neroli myself, it’s a good line, very natural smelling.
I haven’t sampled much of the line. VS begins with violet pastilles that morph into earthy woody violet leaf. Something about the dry down reminds me of Gray Flannel but I could be wrong. I haven’t smelled GF in many years.
Same here and we probably should Neroli Blanc is great in all its concentrations. You make me interested in VS, its reminding you of Grey Flannel makes sense as it’s a pretty masculine violet on my skin too.
Oh, I recently bought that Korres shower gel but haven’t used it yet. How do you like it?
I love it! A powdery sweet violet scent. Very moisturizing. Perfect for bedtime. I wish there was a matching lotion.
I got a pretty good chuckle from the “my husband is a rat” comment.
Mr. Jalapeno’s animal is a snake, so I wanted to be very careful in how I said that! ?
Wearing an old frien Liz Earle No 1, a citrus chypre natural which has indeed very uplifting citrus and is very long lasting for a natural perfume.
Many moons ago I would see Liz Earle on QVC selling skin care, I don’t recall that there was perfume available.
There are a few, and they were really well done!
Yes! And very long lasting for natural fragrances.
Liz Earle is very popular in the UK, I’ll make decants for you, Lillyjo for my brother’s next visit.
Happy New Year everyone! SOTD is JM’s English Pear and Freesia. I have a tiny bottle that I received thru a freebiemeet and I am hoarding the last drops of it because this is turning out to be one of my favorite scents. It’s pretty and springtime-y and it makes me happy when I get a whiff of it. And to think I once wasn’t too crazy about freesia, lol.
I like this perfume as well. Why are you hoarding it? Are you on a strict “no buy”? Because not only it’s still in production and available in 3 sizes, but on eBay you can get another 9 ml bottle for under $20.
Have any of you had experience with Roxana Illuminated Perfume? The store is here in Santa Fe. I have been looking at Roxana’s website, and it appears that a person must make an appointment ($25 for 15 minutes) to visit. Consultations are considerably more. Prices look high, but it’s all handcrafted botanical perfume. She offers classes, too. I’m thinking I’ll make an appointment after my sinus infection is completely gone.
I tried a few of her scents several years ago. At that time, I think she had an Etsy shop where I ordered my samples. No loves among those that I tried. I was looking for a solid perfume because I wanted one of those solid perfume lockets. I think she sold those as well during that time. Not sure now. Have fun!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I am feeling a little cautious because natural perfumes don’t always last on my skin, and it’s an investment just to walk into the store. But I’m intrigued!
Tried a lot from the brand, didn’t like anything. I’m not saying they are bad – just not for me.
I would NEVER pay to visit any perfume shop. It’s bizarre.
Busy weekend this weekend, with a vet trip yesterday and grocery shopping today. Spooky kitty voiced her displeasure about the trip very loudly the entire trip to the vet. She might have also been complaining about the heavy rain, too… I don’t think she has ever been in a cat carrier in that kind of weather before.
Many, many thanks for the birthday wishes! I had steak for dinner today and yesterday, so that has been taken care of. ?? The chocolate stash has also been replenished, so I’ve had some lovely treats in the past 24 hours.
SsOTWeekend = commando on Saturday for the vet appointment, and Relique d’Amour EdP today. And my first sample thunk of the year!
PS. Still stunned by the news on Kobe Bryant. It’s a big deal in the Philadelphia/southern New Jersey area.
Self-posting to say those stamps are lovely! ??
Congrats on the sample thunk!
Glad that Spooky kitty is done with the vet. My cat yowls the entire time he’s in his carrier. Very stressful for poor kitties.
Hope your birthday steak was extra good. I think you need to treat yourself to a scented birthday treat!
Teflon is even worse regarding the cat carrier. She avoided me all day yesterday, even though she wasn’t the one with the vet appointment. Poor kitteh.
Glad it was an overall good birthday, Jalapeno ?
Thanks lillyjo! ?
Happy belated Birthday! I’m sorry I missed it, but enjoying steak vicariously through you! ?
Thanks Deva! Hopefully you can enjoy some steak from a first hand perspective soon.
I found the news about Kobe – and now it turns out also his 13 year old basketball playing daughter – incredibly shocking and upsetting. Truly devastating. (Said by a hardcore non-Lakers fan too.)
I didn’t quite believe what I was hearing at first. So sad that his daughter was a crash victim too. Their family has to be devastated.
Happy birthday! Glad you had some yummy treats.
Thank you cazaubon!
Belated happy birthday Jalapeno, and so glad you got a steak!
Thanks Robin! I enjoyed those steaks very much!
Hey, quick PSA, AA Ginger Picante is back in stock at fragrance net. I know alot of you were loving it lately.
I’m still catching up on my gardening while the weather is mild; I can still plant bulbs, so I feel that I should, lol! But things are looking quite nice thanks to my teenaged boy who wants to earn some pocket money. He is the prince of mulch! I cut back many old hellebore leaves today to leave room for the new shoots of leaves and blooms.
Well Geez, I feel
Terrible being this late….Happy Belated Birthday Jalepeno. I hope that it was wonderful.
AngelaB, belated B-day wishes are still a good thing! I don’t mind them at all. Thank you!
