It's Hump Day and David Bowie's (may he RIP) birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm (running late) in Ormonde Jayne Frangipani.
Reminder: on 1/10, wear a fragrance by Ormonde Jayne, Olivier Durbano, Odin New York or Olfactive Studio, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter O.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

In Lorenzo Villoresi’s Musk today. Again. I’ve been reaching for it for over a week now. It’s just so darned cozy!
cozy is good…
I woke up super sleepy this morning and didn’t make it to the gym.
Sipping Chai this morning in a few puffs of Shalimar powder and a spray of perfume.
Donning a mustard colored cloche hat today.
Have a fragrant day everyone.
Your hat sounds stunning!
I’m running off to Google cloche hat, I have no idea what that is!
You smell stunning though.
It basically looks exactly like this one, the same colors
I imagine you look great in that hat! And you certainly smell terrific.
Too cute! I wish I could pull off hats. I hate the way I look in them.
Actually SmokeyToes, this is the exact same hat. Mine is from Target also..cute right?
It’s nice, and I imagine warm, being felted wool. Not everyone can carry off that mustard color!
That hat is exactly like the one my grandmom wore for many years, but in grey color. Feeling nostalgic now. Thanks for bringing up sweet memories to me. ?
You are so welcome! I have several cloche hats one of my favorites is when one side of the brim is a bit longer than the other..
Can we bring hats back? I don’t have time to do my hair when I have two little ones
I have a real oldie (from the last ’20’s!) in chocolate brown felt….wore it in a show and snitched it from the wardrobe when we closed!! Still love it and wear it often.
It sounds lovely! I love a good hat, vintage ones especially
Me too! I often try on fedoras in vintage or antique shops. I have a red wool one with a black hat-band–not old but quite cute, I think!
Mood twin in sleepy + not making it to the gym. Scared the postman in my pj’s when he delivered my 10ml Memo Lalibela ???
LOVE THIS! HA!
Thanks for all the well wishes yesterday, they must have worked cause the bug only seems to be a cold, and I can deal with those.
SOTD is La Myrrhe.
I love your choice of image for today, Robin!
You smell wonderful, I’m on a myrrh kick lately. Glad the bug idn’t too severe.
Such a pretty fragrance! I’m glad the sickness you had feels like just a cold to you. Still, take it easy, don’t push yourself.
Thanks — that is apparently from that exhibit “David Bowie Is”
You smell lovely! I’m glad you aren’t feeling too bad.
Glad it’s not as bad as you expected, though I’ve had some colds that have flattened me ?
Iris de Syracuse, easy and pretty!
The way to go
I love Iris de Syracuse. You smell wonderful!
Playing! Or du Serail
Yum, love that one.
Wearing Calypso’s yesterday SOTD – OJ Woman.
I am wearing somebody’s yesterday too, but I forget who!
You smell good, ha ha!
Twins with you tonight from my sample stash. Another thunk!
Project compliant in my sample of Autoportrait from Olfactive Studio
Wearing a new sample, Blend Oud Tupai Love. It’s a sweet jasmine scent. Wishing everyone a good day! I’m feeling chipper after a good night’s sleep (husband has been banished to the futon to give me a chance to sleep well and recover, it’s working).
Yay for a good night’s sleep!
Glad you got some sleep. It’s the worst trying to function on very little rest.
Good to hear that you are feeling better today!
Baie 19. Happy hump day!
And to you sugarvenom!
Eau de Cough Drop. Called off work today due to a bug I picked up from a kind co-worker who apparently has never heard “cover your cough,” or “If you’re sick, don’t go to work and make your patients and co-workers ill.” Sheesh.
T-Rex is also sick, due to dietary indiscretions in the desert, and is now on ABT and probiotics. She’s still not understanding cause and effect…
Despite the crud, we enjoyed our journey into the desert, even though I just sat around in the sun like the old lady that I am. No hiking or biking, because I was/am just exhausted.
I’m going to try a very light, non-nausea inducing perfume later today. Maybe Omnia or Un Bois Vanille. Planning on a nap or two, since the doggo tap, tap, tapped me on the head four times during the night to go out, which, combined with the cough, ensured I got zero sleep.?
Hope everyone is feeling better than we do. I’m quite sure you all smell MUCH better, too! ?
Oh ICK! Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. Such a bummer. I wish more people would get the ‘cover your cough’ memo.
Me too! And don’t cough into your hands, people! I’ve seen many medically educated people do this, and it’s just unbelievable!
I’m one of those terrible co-workers too. We are so understaffed that I did go in to work, in spite of my cold. I do practice cover my cough though, hoping that it helps. Hope you get over it quickly.
Silly T-Rex; my dog was just the same that way. Dogs, they just love all the filthy stuff.
Dogs! ? I’ve gone in on the tail end of a sickness, but I wear a mask all day so as not to share the germs.
My vote is for Omnia, and I will virtually pass you a cup of Chai tea to match
Oh, I’ll take you up on that chai!?
I hope you and T-Rex feel better very soon.
Thanks, she’s eating and drinking fine, so I think it’ll be a short illness for her.
Good. What a pity dogs do not understand some foods are just not good for them.
Sending healing vibes to you and T-Rex. Hope you both get enough rest today.
Aww hope you both feel better soon! Sitting in the sunshine sounds therapeutic.
Hope both of you get some rest and hydration, and maybe a good read!
Take it easy
I hope you both feel better soon!
Yuck on you both being sick! I hope it passes quickly.
Yeah, I get peeved about people coming in sick and working around really vulnerable people. But, there’s a terrible culture of looking down on people who call in sick, even though you are entitled to use sick time. Administration is guilty of this guilt-inducing culture.
Exactly correct on the issue with looking down on folks who call in sick. We have a total of 6 sick day allowance for the year. One of my co-workers had a supervisor call her out for being ‘unreliable’ when she used her sick days to look after her Mom when the mom was back home from the hospital, or when my friend was legitimately sick.
Yup, that’s what I’m talking about. Terrible.
Hope you and T-Rex recover quickly!
Hope you recover quickly!
Sending healing vibes to you and T-Rex!
That’s an utter and complete bummer both of you are sick. Healing vibes heading your way!
Bvlgari Spendida Magnolia Sensuel and currently drinking a second cup of Wild Pu-erh tea.
Yesterday I wore Lancome Oranges Bigarades and I was trying on scarves at the hospital boutique. I took my Mom to get some bloodwork done. I ended up buying a scarf, and the cashier said while ringing up my bill “This smells so good, what is it?” She could smell my Lancome fragrance. I told her, then we started discussing different perfumes.
I have found some very unique things in hospital gift shops. I’m sure you smell delightful!
So true ! My Mom bought the same scarf. It is purple, green and gold — the colors of New Orleans Mardi Gras.
Perfume compliments are so nice, even better that yours turned into a conversation.
Very pleasant and unexpected conversation
I love compliments also. must of made your day
Yes. It took some of the stress of my Mom’s bloodwork off. She likes shopping and perfume also.
Hi all and belated Happy New Year to all. My SOTD is Sl’s Un Bois Vanille layered over Ancient Resins body oil. It’s a little chilly and I need a warm cozy scent today.
I love both of those! you smell fab
What a great combination! Plus, partial twins today.
I went to bed in Ancient Resins last night
Robin – I adore Ancient Resins, it’s a lovely bed time scent. Also good under Chanel No. 22…..
Belated New Year’s wishes to you, SmokeyToes!
Woke up in vintage Miss Dior EDC and I’m hoping that my Chanel order comes soon. FedEx says it’s out for delivery. Since it’s really cold out, i am about to apply Vanilla Flash today. I wonder if Andy Tauer will make a jasmine flash or even lilac.
Ooh lilac! That would be heavenly. “Out for delivery” are lovely words
They are wonderful words. It just arrived. All this packaging for something so small. Way too much for 21ml of perfume and it’s not even the extrait form, just the edp version.
The phrase “Out for delivery” is a wonderful thing!
Ohhh, I do love Tauer scents on a chilly day.
Which Chanel did you get?
I got no 5 instead of CM.
Today I’m wearing J.Crew No. 31, because it was right beside my bed.
I never tried the J. Crew No. 31, what’s it like?? I have the No. 57.
I’m in Cuir de Lancome, lovely for the cold weather. Today I ran into a lovely perfume shop called The Perfumery, in Barcelona. Lots of niche fragrances and my mom bought one which they create called Magnolia. Nice surprise.
Running into a perfumery unexpectantly and finding a new treasure is wonderful!!
Scent of yesterday afternoon: OJ Sampaquita — a couple of dabs from the sample vial. The jasmine fragrance lasted quite some time.
That one was pretty but just never grew on me.
Definitely not what I think of as a sambac jasmine smell. My ‘Maid of Orleans’ sambac jasmine has been blooming and blooming. Each flower lasts only a day once it opens, but it’s had bunches of flowers and buds.
I agree that the Sampaquita perfume is pretty, but I know that some people like a more indolic jasmine fragrance — “dirtier,” I think they might say. A pretty and relatively clean “white flowers” fragrance is okay for me, but personally I could be all right with something a little more quirky or twisty.
Can’t wear anything scented until I get home from the cancer centre. I had my final appointment with the radiation oncologist yesterday, who declared dramatically, “you are cured!” Her accent makes her sound like Natasha of the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon, if anyone is old enough to remember that, and somehow it sounds threatening rather than joyful. However, I will take it to be great news.
I am so relieved for you! This is great news indeed! I remember Natasha, one of my favorite characters ??
That DOES sound like wonderful news!!! I’m so happy for you.
Those are wonderful news ScentSpirit! I am sure everything will be fine with you! Happy Hugs!
So happy to hear your good news!
That’s wonderful news! And I loved Boris and Natasha back in the day.
Sorry, that comment was for ScentSpririt!
Just gave me a huge smile. Please celebrate!
That’s wonderful! I’m so pleased to hear that.
So happy for your wonderful news, in any accent it all sounds good.
Such good news and a huge relief! So happy for you!
This is awesome! Congrats!
This is wonderful!!!
I can just hear Natasha now…
So happy to read this !!
That is fantastic news! I hope you sprayed on some truly fabulous perfume when you got home.
That is such great news! And I am old enough to know about Natasha and Boris; I love Rocky and Bullwinkle.
Awesome news! And yes, I remember those “Rocky & Bullwinkle” cartoons. To this day, if someone with the right accent says “Moose and squirrel” I get an enormous case of the giggles.
Congratulations! That’s great news!
Great news! Thanks for sharing!
Wearing Iris Silver Mist and drinking a cup of coffee with honey and cardamom.
My youngest sister is on her way to the hospital now. It looks like her twin baby girls have decided to arrive to this world a week earlier. Praying everything goes fine and we can have good news during the day! She and her husband are in happy spirits. So excited!
Hoping everything goes well for all involved!
How exciting! Keep us posted
That is exciting! Best wishes to all
Super news! Let us know when you have two new nieces!
How exciting! Keep us posted.
Hoping everything turns out well and that you get to enjoy 2 new baby heads soon!
Exciting! Wishing the best for all!
Wishing all of you much joy!!!! Awaiting the news…
I am jealous, I wish my sister would have twin babies!
Ha! That’s going to be lots of work, but so much fun! Still waiting for the news to arrive.
May all be well for your sister and the babies.
Oh my! Twins, how fantastic.
You are smelling great today! Maybe you can imprint on the new babies with your amazing perfumes.
Wow! I hope that everything is OK and that you have welcomed your new nieces into the world by now. Congratulations!
Black Orchid today. I really love this one even though I don’t wear it very often.
You smell fabulous!
I love it as well and I should wear it more often.
I also love it. Have you tried the edt? I haven’t yet.
No, I haven’t. I loved Voile d’Fleur too but don’t care for Velvet Orchid just because it tones down the dark truffle note that I like so well in the original. I feel like the edt might do the same.
Wearing Azemour les Orangers this morning.
No real reason-I just saw it sittig there.
But, I am enjoying the orangey-oakmossy goodness!
Oh, I just love that perfume. You never need a reason to wear it!
Partial credit today wearing Ouarzazate over Ancient Resins.
I love Ancient Resins, I am going to dig mine out
I have you to thank for this combination. ?
You’re most welcome ? I actually think it’s the only layering I ever do.
I tried to wear DSH’s Vers la Voule Etoilee, but grabbed her Vanilla Bourbon by mistake. This is nice, but too much tobacco, and not all that long lasting, so when it faded at work, I applied considered (small) amount of Barkhane, so I am nicely incensed with a rosy edge! I will wear the DSH I intended to wear today, tomorrow.
In English the name of this perfume for tomorrow is Toward the Starry Vault, and I am thinking there is a FB of this rich sweetish chypre in my future, it is like Mitsouko’s well behaved but none the less a chip off the old block modern granddaughter! I like it a lot, and do not see it discussed much. For those here who know and share my enjoyment of perfumes with depth and heft, you might seek this out and let me know what you think.
SotD was Rahele.
Its rainy but pretty warm for time of year.
12 degrees Celsius (thats 53,6 Fahrenheit according to Google ☺️)
Geesz when I was a little girl, we used to skate outside this time of year. I remember my mother picking us up from school bringing our skates and then we’d skate nearby on the ponds.
Or we’d drive to Kinderdijk (famous for a row of iconic old windmills) and skate on the canal there.
I wonder if my niece and nephewes will ever be able to experience winter fun like that in our country ??
We havent had ice skating winters in years.
Rahele is very, very pretty!
It’s oddly hot for this time of year. I grew up in the east of the Netherlands so we didn’t have a lot of water to skate on, I do however remember winters being quite a bit colder.
In the east there is a slight chance of hills ? so sleighing was maybe part of the fun?
Btw I am wearing Mon Parfum Cheri par Camille right now, its wonderful, this time I pick up more plum,
Somehow I feel the need to slip into a long black dress and pick mushrooms in the forest haha. Yeah its witchy/gothic, but in a good way.
I grew up near Enschede so the inclines were barely noticeable. I loved it there but I know that I wasn’t well located in the skating department.
I adore MPCPC, it is very witchy indeed. I don’t wear dresses but maybe a very long black coat would have the same effect.
That is sad! I was just thinking recently that probably about 10 years from now, I will no longer be wishing I lived farther south in the winter…
I subscribe to a YouTube channel based in the Netherlands. I’m not sure where, but it’s a lovely little place that breeds, trains, and shows Friesan horses. They are usually just little snippets, but I love watching the young ones. The outdoor videos are especially lovely.
Very neat! They each seem to have their own personalities.
PdN’s Maharanih Intense for me today. Another one I don’t wear often enough. Maybe I have too much perfume, but that isn’t really a concept I understand
I have never really understood that concept either.
And I love Maharanih!
Not playing today, but happy in Andy’s LDDM…..always makes me smile and keeps me warm.
Which is better than playing
No scent today. Grieving my poor goofy sweet adorable male tabby cat, who suddenly collapsed and died Monday night. No signs of illness; it happened so quick, I had no chance to get him to the vet. I’m devastated. I know you know the feeling. My female tabby and I roam the house like lost souls…
I’m so sorry!
Oh, that’s very sad, and all the worse that it was so sudden. Was he very old? I wonder what happened. I’m sorry your other cat is missing him too. I have had cats look around for one who was gone, also–but blessedly, they didn’t seem to remember for very long (unlike us).
Heart-breaking. Hugs to you and your other kitty.
So very sorry for your loss, FearsMice.
Oh my God! I am so sorry. So shocking. Sending you comforting hugs.
Oh, I’m so sorry! Such a shock. Sending you a big hug. I would be devastated, too.
Oh no, I’m so sorry for your loss, that’s devastating
Thank you all, dear friends, for your kind words. My boy was only 9 years old; he and my girl had vet check-ups that were clean only a few months before. My vet speculated yesterday morning that perhaps my boy had undiagnosed heart disease.
Oh I’m so very sorry for your sudden loss! That’s stunningly difficult. Take care.
FearsMice that’s awful, I am so sorry.
What a shock. I am so sorry! Hugs for you and your other tabby.
I’m so sorry to hear that. Sending hugs…
How traumatic! I’m so sorry.
So sorry for your loss fears Mice.
Oh my gosh, I am so very sorry. This happened to my first dog, I believe he had a massive stroke, he was gone within minutes. Sending you big hugs.
Oh no! I am so very sorry FearsMice. ? Hugs to you and your other kitty.
That’s so incredibly sad; I’m very sorry FearsMice.
So sorry FearsMice ?
Wearing Shay & Blue Dandelion Fig today, but I actually smell like a tomato leaf
Oh, then I need to try that one (?)
if tomato leaf is your jam, have you tried L’Ima by Perfumology? or Stecca by Hilde Soliani?
Neither! I will add to list.
Partial Points for Laborio Olfattivo Kashnoir, which reminds me a lot of Fourreau Noir. Its just a sample and at first i was really tempted to buy it, but i own the Lutens, so money saved.
Thanks for this comment, I was thinking about Kashnoir too, but I also own Fourreau Noir.
I’m in Dusita Le Douceur de Siam which feels fresh, humid, and lush.
I’m really preoccupied today with the fate of my feral colony, you guys. Looks like they’re prepping the lot for a new tenant- the owner mentioned something about ConEd using it for generators a little while back. I’m so worried I’ll show up one day to find their shelters thrown out and the cats missing. I’m pretty sure at least one of them will not be able to survive that scenario. The whole uncertainty of it is making me really sad. Sigh.
Oh dear, that would worry me a lot too. You’ve been so kind to care for them. Are there any cat shelter groups around who might be able to help or advise you about trying to trap and relocate them somewhere safer?
I actually just sent an email to Neighborhood Cats, the org where I got my TNR certification, asking for advice. They can also help to try and locate a new colony for them. The problem of proper colony relocation is that they need to be crated for a few weeks in the new space so they acclimate to the new environment, which is very difficult in the winter. Urban life for ferals is really rough because there’s so little public space to use.
This makes me so sad, too. You’ve invested so much in keeping these cats going; I’m praying the new tenant will do right by them.
Thank you FearsMice. I hope so, too. Comforting to find fellow cat lovers here who understand the attachment I feel. The love makes the losses feel intense-so I understand the grief you feel today completely.
A fellow cat lover, exhibiting breakfast at my house:
This is what happens when you volunteer at a cat shelter… in part….
Oh, wow! If I had the space…
They are all gorgeous! ?
I’m sad for you. Is there a nearby lot that they can be relocated to?
Thanks lj. Like I told Calypso, there’s so little outdoor space that isn’t privately owned, so that creates a problem for relocation. I know other colony caregivers have run into similar issues around here, especially with real estate developers buying up large, unused spaces and building on them. City life is rough for these animals. I wish I could buy a big barn in the country somewhere…
That’s so hard. Heart breaking. I’m so sorry for you and for these kitties.
I didn’t realize the heart break that would come with this work when I started out. I can handle the illness and death from illness part, actually. It’s the intolerant people who create intentional obstacles that make it really difficult. Some colonies have seen some pretty cruel behavior from people, including shelter destruction and rat poison ?
People are usually the problem. I wish I had an answer for cats. Is there no shelter that would be willing to trap, spay/neuter, and then find them a safer place to live? Feral cats can be adopted, right? I imagine the process would be prolonged, but animals are so adaptable…
They’re all neutered already. Shelters don’t take ferals because they can’t adopt out unfriendly cats and it would lead to loads of cats lingering in cages for years. There’s a pretty big feral cat problem in NYC and it’s hard even to get a friendly stray cat into a shelter here. The advice I’ve been given by the pros so far is to look for a relocation option or to continue working on the lot owner to arouse some sympathy.
That must be nerve wrecking! ?
I really hope you will find people who can help and that the new tenant is willing to co-operate!!!
Thanks Jiji! Me too!
Oh gosh Elisa, so sorry for their predicament. I know you’ve been dreading this for months. Do you think the ASPCA would help?
No, they won’t even take the cats. The only people who would take them would be Animal Control Center, but they do euthanize.
So sad and stressful. I hope somehow things will work out.
It is, ugh. Well, it’ll either work out, or it won’t for them, which will be a hard pill to swallow.
Aw, that is a wretched situation for you and the ferals. Hugs.
Thanks a Jalapeño! Hugs needed and appreciated ?
I got out my OJ Discovery Set and am trying on two scents that I’ve pretty much passed over before–the “masculine” ones Zizan and Isfarkand. In general I’m not one to stick to gender categories among perfumes, but in previous tries, I’d felt these were just not for me. I still feel that about Isfarkand, which I find actually quite unpleasant. I would swear it has a strong liquorice note, but I’m not sure why, since that’s not listed. It may just be the very strong cedar-pepper aspect. It’s going to get scrubbed in my shower soon and not re-sprayed. Zizan is kind of similar to it actually but a lot more gentle and wearable (for me). I still prefer her florals overall, with Woman at the top–not that it’s a floral, but I like its combination of green-woody-spicy floral, and find it quite unusual and distinctive. It’s gotten me compliments, too.
In other news, I got my new glasses (or ordered them) and am excited! I am lucky that my university has an excellent optometry school where we get a free annual eye exam and a 30% discount on new glasses. That’s quite a chunk given how expensive frames and lenses are nowadays. I got some sort of dark orange-red ones. It turns out the prescription isn’t much different from my old one but I decided to get a new pair as a back up and fashion alternative! The downside of going to the OPTO school is that you have a student, albeit an advanced one supervised by a doctor, and the whole process takes forever!–I was there almost 3 hours all told. With my eyes all dilated and feeling rather tired at the end, I didn’t have the energy to make my planned lemon risotto tonight, but that’s on tap for this evening, along with grilled shrimp! Yum yum!
I am dreading my eye appointment, I know the news will be bad. At least I have a pair of glasses where the frames can be reused.
Oh no, it’s awful to have eye or vision problems. Luckily my eyes are pretty healthy, although I’m told I do have mild cataracts. This explains my issues of driving at night, which is scary because I experience so much glare. Mostly I avoid it, especially if it’s raining. Good luck.
SotD = Dzing!
I’d forgotten how much I enjoy this odd scent. Smells like fun in a bottle. ??
I”m close to a feeling of “ugh” with my food choices. ?
My osteo doctor suggested I increase protein intake each day. Anyone have a favorite food hack to share?
Wonderful Wednesday wishes to everyone!
Are you a non-meat eater? I try not to eat carbs during the day because I get serious blood sugar crashes, so I rely on protein and eat a lot of eggs, and nuts are my staple during the day (I save my sweets and carbs for night time because the fatigue they cause actually are a plus at bedtime!).
I’ve also recently rediscovered cottage cheese after ignoring for many years. It’s good with so many things, but my favorite is with tomatoes and black pepper ?
I like my cottage cheese with pickles. My husband is always horrified.
Nuts are a great, satisfying choice.
I do to! Cornichons, specifically.
thank you for the good ideas, Elisa! I love to eat almonds every day, other nuts too, so I feel good about adding more to my meals. Will definitely look for more dairy protein options too. Cottage cheese is a great one, and I used to eat Greek yogurt so I’ll have to get that going agin.
In the past I ate less meat, sometimes very little or none, for a variety of reasons, mostly because it was hard on my tummy, lol.
These days I’ve realized I need to eat fish, poultry, and eggs for my health. I’m stepping up my consumption, also adding red meat from time to time. I eat eggs most days for breakfast, usually with a little oatmeal, just a couple tablespoons.
And I’m like you, I do feel better if I keep carbs low until later in the day because they do make me sleepy!
1 cup of cooked quinoa has 8 grams of protein. I use in in place of rice. I avoid most meat but I do eat fish, eggs and cheese.
Gosh, I love quinoa and forgot it’s got good amounts of protein. I made some to go with my salmon tonight. Thank you, Petunia!
We make a quinoa salad with chickpeas (and all kinds of veggies) for lunch for the week (it makes alot!). If you are interested, I can send you my recipe.
Do you like refried beans? They are surprisingly versatile, and good for more than just nachos and burritos.
I also subsist on refried beans! So good and easy to top them with whatever (usually cheese and salsa).
Split pea and 16 bean soup – 1/4 cup of the dried peas / beans have 10 grams of protein.
I’m struggling with the seasonal affective real hard today, but I’m wafting a healthy cloud of Amarige today, which has helped!
So sorry tracy.o! Keep the Amarige flowing…
I hope the Amarige obliterated your blues! Amarige was an early perfume love of mine.
I had a bad s.a.d. day last week. I had what I call the “ugh feeling”. Take good care, I hope it will pass quickly for you.
Vanille d’Iris again for me today because I’m just that lazy. Not my favorite, but it is pleasant and cozy. First time back at Weight Watchers for weigh in since before Christmas (since I go on Wednesdays, my place was closed for Christmas and New Year, and I just didn’t bother to go another day). At least I didn’t gain….a very minor loss. Which I’ll take during the holiday season.
Dinner out tonight at a place I’ve never been. I’m pondering mussels from the menu they have online. At least I have my voice back…a bit husky but not a whisper.
Congrats on maintaining your weight during the holiday season! I hope you feel like yourself again soon!
Nicely done on maintaining!
Chanel 1957 for me today
Commando today but wanting a bit of 1957.
Sigh, David Bowie..I got to admit I was a bit blue for a couple days after I heard that he passed. The Life On Mars instrumental released recently from The Watchmen Soundtrack is quite good. It’s worth a listen. ?
SOTD = Chris Rusak Io
I’m glad I wore this today…I needed zen.
This morning, the guy who sat next to me had his morning cut out, down to an alarm to wake him up a bit before the train entered the tunnel. No issues with that, of course. He then proceeded to intently / intensely mine for gold. As soon as he extracted something, he rolled it up into a ball and flicked it, thank God, in the direction of the floor to his left (he had the window seat). Now imagine a rinse and repeat of this cycle 4-5x before the train arrived at the destination. To say I was disgusted by this is an understatement! Other than this, the commute is fine…it’s a good walk, good exercise and I am getting things down to how long before the published time of a train I need to leave the office and get there at least 10 minutes before departure and allow for variables such as being stopped at a light (goal: no more than 4x at 15 seconds each, which really translates to being slowed down by about 90 seconds).
Ugh! Too bad handkerchiefs are not still in style. ?
Too bad good manners/hygiene are no longer practiced.
Exactly! People act like they are alone in the world.
Sad but true.
Heh, what Petunia and Cazaubon said!
I keep meaning to order a sample of lo. A NSTR mentioned it in the past and was quite smitten.
Too bad about your fellow commuter. I don’t think I could have stayed nearby without getting sick.
I think it is now discontinued but I can send you a sample ?
Wow, that one didn’t last long, did it?
I don’t think I could have sat through that, I would rather stand somewhere else. Ugh.
I was in the middle seat towards the front of the train cat and people were already lined up along the aisle to get off the train ?
Oh, dear. The indignity of the daily commute. Isn’t there a ferry you can take? The couple of days a week that I can take the East River Ferry to work are a sanity saver.
That may double the commute …
Worth it ?
One of these days I expect you to post that someone changed their kid’s diaper during your commute. Gag!
Better to comment late than never, right?
I’m finally trying Vanira Moorea (Berdoues) which smells very much like Le Couvent des Minimes Eau de Missions to me. I no longer have the latter which I liked quite a bit for a while, but after I gave my decant away I didn’t miss it. I think this one sampling of VM will suffice, and I’ll pop the remnants of my vial into the donate pile. Onward!
Thanks for your thoughts on the Vanira Moorea. I missed trying that Le Couvent, but I have a sample of VM, and thought it was all right. No perfume regret on that…
Crazy weather for me today… bright and sunny one minute; snowing sideways the next! ⛄? Then back to bright and sunny. But getting COLD tonight! We’ve been spoiled by unseasonably warm weather lately, so winter is finally making an appearance.
SOTD = Abel Pink Iris EdP, from the sample stash and a fab NSTer. This scent was a little quiet and did not stand up to the cold and windy weather. Time to set it aside for spring.
I received Pink Iris with a perfume order. I liked it but not sure if it is FB worthy. I only have a dabber sample so I can’t get any real sense of it.
I think my allergies are acting up a little bit right now. I was sneezing my head off yesterday. So I’m not sure I could smell much from the spray sample I have.
We had one if those flash “squalls” predicted today, but fortunately it never materialized. It is wiiiindy now, though. And could! I hope you guys have the warmer weather promised for the weekend.
Most of the Abel perfumes I tried were very light and fleeting- good summer fare.
Current predictions are for possibly record-breaking warm temps Saturday and Sunday. Holy weather whiplash Batman!
And good to know about Abel perfumes in general… I will keep that in mind.
Apparently winter is coming to me this weekend with freezing rain and snow. I’ve already given myself permission to call in to work Saturday night. But fingers crossed it all just evaporates in thin air. I wore Coco Noir today, and now I’m in TF Metallique. If I didn’t have so much else to wear, I would wear this one alot. I really like the vanilla in it. It’s synthetic smelling, but I find it interesting.
Crossing fingers the bad weather passes you by!
Also sending my wishes for a dry weekend!
They’re predicting the “frozen mix” here tomorrow..?❄️
Are you in Arizona?
Yes, Prescott area, so higher in elevation. I think we’re between 5-6000 ft..?
I had some of that last night. The dreaded “wintry mix” did not stick around here, so I hope it does the same thing for you and disappears quickly.
Wearing the rest of my OJ Woman sample. Thunk! It’s nice, but not wowing me.
I have to go in on it flex day off for 4 hours mandatory o/t. This is to help a department catch up due to them all being away on holidays over Christmas. Umm, my inner naughty self wants to wear something like AE or Poison to announce my displeasure. Sadly I can’t do that but will wear some type of scent that flies under the radar.
I will spray some Poison tomorrow on your behalf ?
?Thank you lillyjo! I really appreciate it. Waft on.
