Monday and Jane Austen’s birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Eau Claire des Merveilles layered over Eau des Merveilles.
Reminder: 12/20 will be De-stress Friday (a repeat from 2014)...as we approach the holidays, wear something that keeps you tranquil and relaxed.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Tigers nest for a very chilly start to the week.
That might keep you warm!
In Angelique Noire, trying to feel cozy in the chaos of an office move.
I should dig out my bottle of that one…
Stay cozy
Thank you!
it’s been a while i put on Angelique Noire, it was as nice as -if not nicer than- i remembered 🙂
Hope it’s not too chaotic!?
it isn’t too bad but now we have lots more people crowded in a small open area and everyone is super chatty- not ideal haha, though i am sure things will calm down in a day or two.
I did an office move this time last year. THere is no such thing as too many roles and dispensers of packing tape.
indeed! and labels and boxes 😀
4160 Tuesdays Eau My Soul today. Snow on the ground, this one is nice and warm.
Hmmmm MMKinPa, can you tell me more? I have been eyeballing that one for a dear friend who loves sandalwood. It is also a good price point. Is this one unisex enough for a man?
I own it and it feels very unisex to me. Very boozy.
Thanks.
I am sampling Arbole Arbole. It took me forever to figure out what I was wearing, because the name and the juice color made me think it would be green! So my brain was confused by the gap between my expectations and the reality. It was only when I looked up the notes that it made sense: this is a wood pudding! A very nice one, with a vintage-ish vanilla. Just so funny how much sense relies on context.
I love that one, you smell great!
You smell wonderful!
I will drink my Jane Austen tea later
Inspired by cazaubon mention of Coco Noir over the weekend, I am in the body cream and the parfum (which is much more voluptuous than the EdP in my opinion) The notes: Jasmine, Rose, Patchouli, Tonka Bean, along with Bourbon Vanilla and Musk.
The body cream has more of a grapefruit top note.
I am feeling relaxed (and smelling delicious secondo me)
ooh you smell nice 😀
Thank you!
I think so too…
You smell fab!
The parfum is just divine..
Have you layered the body cream with the edp? I wonder if that works well?
I don’t have the EDP, do you?
The parfum is just divine..
Yes, I have the edp, but don’t have the parfum or body cream, I have just tried them at the store. Will try them together next time I’m near a counter.
I think the EDP and the cream would work well together. I haven’t smelled the EDP in awhile so I am going in my scent memory..
I missed the weekend comments but I do love Coco Noir edp. I’m sure the parfum is divine!
It is, give it a sniff the next time you are at the Chanel counter
I think Coco Noir in general doesn’t get a lot of love but I adore it
I do too, and the bottle is perfection. Coco is full of meaning for me and I had to let go of my desire for a Coco that really is “Noir” – once I could accept Coco Noir as a stand alone perfume rather than a flanker, I fell in love with it.
I had to do the same.
It wear close to the skin on me but is long lasting. How about you?
In Feu Secret today, accidentally participating in the CP but feeling quite serene.
Ok, adding to my list for the week! You smell great SheriG.
Good morning Y’all…..
Starting out the week very sweet and powdery in Replica Lipstick on. Absolutely full bottle worthy at some point…..
Agree, it’s a great one. I wish they had a travel spray of it.
You can get one at https://www.royaltyscents.com/ !! 🙂
I’m starting de-stress Friday early in Tam Dao.
Today is my Saturday and over the weekend I kept adding things to my to-do list for today and now it is pretty long. Yikes. Thanksgiving was so late this year that I had a feeling Christmas would sneak up on me, and it has. We don’t even have our tree up yet!? We’ve been going to a tree farm since my oldest was in a snuggly, so over 20 years, and now with 2 kids out of the house it just doesn’t feel the same. We live a few blocks from Whole Foods and they have trees there. My husband jokingly suggested we get one there. I told him I am NOT getting my Christmas tree from WF. “But they’re organic,” He said. Lol, nice try, but no.
Your husband sounds like he is a hoot!
Mr L over the weekend pulled a “men are from Mars” stunt.
We had a string of colored lights go out on our tree..after trying to test bulbs here and there, we gave up. So I asked him to go to the hardware store and fetch a new strand of colored lights. He comes back with a string of white lights. I asked him, don’t you think it would look funny on the tree to have one string of white lights while the rest are colored? His response ” You said you needed lights. I got you a string of lights”.
LOL!? That sounds like something my dad would do. Did you end up putting them up?
Yes, my husband had a very dry, witty sense of humor. My son does too, and he is very quick with his sense of wit! They both crack me up on a regular basis.
*has*
Saturday twins! I have a fake tree. With fake pine cones even, lol!
Hey Saturday twin! Have a great day off!?
The fake pine cones sound really cute! ?
They’ve held up pretty nice too!
Our tree looks nice but we are highly irritated at the needle dropping going on. Worst I’ve ever experienced.
We’re having more than usual needle drop this year too.
Good Morning All, I am making Italian cookies this morning with some snow on the ground.
I am in my birthday bottle of Bengale Rouge.
This house will smell amazing with a good dose of Vanilla wafting about.
I feel cozy.
Tell me more about your cookies! Grazie
Si` certo. They are Pizzelles made with an iron, an old family recipe and you can do vanilla, anise and lemon versions.
They are a staple for every occasion am are particularly reminiscent of my mom and grandmother.
Have you tried homemade ones?
No..I had to look up what they were.
So you have an iron with that design to press into the cookie?
Yes, exactly and it is fun although a little time intensive. KIDS love it.
I have a recipe if you’d like and can tell you which irons are the best.
Yes! Per favore
va bene ci faccio io.
ho bisogno del tuo indirizzo elettronica. 😉
Ok: Here goes:
2 sticks of margarine at room temp (you can use butter – they are a bit lighter/fatty and way more fattening) you can defrost for 15 secs to get it soft.
1 1/3 cups sugar
Cream these first two ingredients together.
then add:
6 eggs at room temp (sit in water for a few minutes)
cream again and add:
2 teaspoons madagascar vanilla (or good quality anise extract / or lemon depending on which ones you want to try)
stir.
My mom always said the order really matters of mixing wet together then adding the dry (also pre mixed together)
Dry ingredients:
4 cups (or little less as the batter gets too thick (a snort 4 pixel here) all purpose flour that I lightly re sift to keep it light.
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 pinch salt
Add premixed dry ingredients to the wet and combine. Have the hot pizzelle iron ready, spray the iron has w/a touch of Pam so they don’t stick and may need to discard the 1st set depending on taste. Make sure the iron is hot before you start. watch the kids so they don’t grab at it. I have never met a person before who doesn’t like these…well except for poor pixel whom we must rescue! ?
Yields 5 dozen approx (stack on a paper towel covered tray -6 stacks)
The kids love to watch you and take bites around the diamond centered pattern.
My irons are the old school ones manufactured by C.Palmer in Pennsylvania – look for the teflon version if possible. These will last a lifetime, YMMV w/other irons.
Mangia.
Sorry I would given you my email, I was at the doctor
How do you heat the Iron?
No problem! The iron is electric so you only to plug it in.
Those look so good!
That all sounds so cozy! Have fun baking!
My MIL used to make pizzelle cookies. They were wonderful and looked so pretty.
Hi Petunia, thanks.
pizelles are so pretty! i wish you could post pictures 🙂
Bengale Rouge is opulent, your house must smell amazing.
Me too. I wish I could share them w/you too.
I wore BR yesterday, it is fantastic. You smell great.
Oh I bet you did! Thank you cazaubon (psst -birthday twin! hope it’s a fun one)
Here’s my pizzelle story… every year we spend Xmas Eve with a friend’s family. They have a tradition of serving pizzelles as dessert. Which pretty much nobody eats since the recipe they use tastes like cardboard. One year I was asked to bring a dessert, and I brought a fancy chocolate cake, which was devoured. The sister who makes the pizzelles was annoyed, and the next year, I was asked NOT to bring a dessert. So we are back to having a pile of untouched pizzelles sitting on the table after the meal 🙂
OH my gosh, that is realllllly funny! That is a classic story. I will think of you now and the family drama. You have NO idea how badly I needed that laugh today.
I am truly sorry as these cookies are SO good( and kinda hard to mess up). I really need to share some with you too. I’ll publish the recipe and you can see what she’s missing… it will be above with l2sg’s posts.
That is hysterical!
Chanel no. 5 EDP. No reason, just felt like wearing it.
House twins.
You never need a reason for No 5
Channel no 5 is fabulous. I can never decide on which formulation is my favorite.
That’s the best reason of all.
You smell amazing.
Yummy. What everyone else said, you smell wonderful.
I’m wearing Pacifica Tibetan Mountain Temple. I hate that it is discontinued.
Me too!!! It was Pacifica’s first candle and first scent. They should have kept it for that reason alone.
I share your feelings! I regret not stocking up on a few bottles now.I still have one of the smaller soy candles in a glass container and I’m using dabs of the soy wax as a solid perfume.I miss Spanish Amber also.
It’s a shame Pacifica also discontinued their shower gels… they were really good.
Hi all. Jane Austen and moi!
I drove up to Dallas to visit my friends over the weekend. They have a lovely newer niche store called Scentroom that carried lines I’ve never been able to smell. Highest on my list was that Eris limited edition, Mxxx. Wow, that stuff is incredible. Smooth and animalic but not overbearing. That cocoa note is unearthly as well.
Have a great Monday all!
Happy birthday ????? to you!!!!
Thank you dear!
Happy birthday! I recently smelled that Eris and thought the cocoa note was really amazing too.
Thank you! It definitely lived up to my lemming.
You smell fantastic.
We tried MXXX Saturday at Arielle Shoshana’s shop where she hosted a Barbara Hermann event. Barbara was charming and great company.
I really liked triple X also, it is a superpowered version of Mx and amped up the woods on my skin. I fell hard for a few of them and came home with Night Flower, she (Night Flower) and Ma Bete were battling it out all afternoon on my wrists and I swear Night Flower let her presence be known by completely scenting up my perfume shelves and intimidating all the other power perfumes.
How wonderful! Barbara had an event up here as well but I couldn’t make the drive that day.
I think the XXX was my favorite of the line but I intend to by a sample kit and give them proper testing.
Happy birthday!
Thank You Gaynor.
Thankyou!!
I’m going to have to put that on my list for the next time I go up to Dallas! I haven’t gone in ages and there are some art sites I really want to visit. Good to know about it!
It is so fun and the staff was lovely. I was so excited to try all the lines I’ve read about.
Happy birthday!
Thank you, friend! ?
Happy birthday! ???
Thank you!!
Happy birthday Coumarin!!
Thank you Robin! ?
Happy Birthday!
Thank you Lillyjo!
Happy birthday, Coumarin!
Thank you so much!
Happy Birthday wishes! ??
Thank you! I had a really wonderful day. 🙂
DSH Chinchilla today.
That one starts off beyond animalic on my skin but the drydown is sublime. On my skin it’s not an office scent. You smell sexy, Deva!!!!
Oh, I should pull that out of The Vault (read: the Sephora Play boxes in the back of my closet) for the Seattle winter, you smell delightful!
Oh, I love that one. You smell fabulous, Deva!
Pure eVe….all week long.
PeEve-d ???
Oh luckily I am alone in my office at the moment because I am literally laughing out loud!!
I really was peeved this morning because I needed to take a day off but came in to attend a meeting which got cancelled without informing all the participants ?
oh my that’s extra annoying!
Super rude and annoying!!
Oh man that’s AWFUL. Grrrrr!
So insensitive!
Communications FAIL for sure!
Scent: Jour d’Hermes Absolu and Comme des Garcons Kyoto
Tea: Upton Mist Valley Estate (black tea)
Reading: Just finished Jitterbug Perfume (again). Working on The Code of the Woosters.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
I love Jitterbug Perfume. Must have read it 5+ times.
I think I’ve only read it twice, but now I have it on my Kindle. I’m pretty sure I’m not done with it!
How did you even think to layer these two? ?
I would *like* to assert that I have a wildly inventive mind, and it came to me over coffee & a danish. But, no. Alas, no danish either, but that’s a separate problem.
I was pondering blending essential oils to get something reminiscent of the Capri Blue volcano candle, so I fired off that question to the interwebs. Suggested recipes include Black Spruce essential oil, so there you go. Why I then translated that to perfume is a fair question, but I expect everyone here will understand.
Jour d’Hermes for the citrus notes + happy flowers
Kyoto for cypress and cedar (closest thing I had to spruce) + incense, because why not?
So there’s scientific basis for the combo. It sounds like wonderful layering!
Code of the Woosters is a de-stressing agent to beat all perfumes.
It’s great fun!
I’m hoping my trusty Lolita Lempicka will see me through a tired feeling Monday.
Hope that worked, or that you’re home napping by now!
Naps are rarely possible for me because I have a hard time turning my brain off to fall asleep in the middle of the day. LL did smell great all day at least. I’ve switched to Boucheron Iris de Syracuse now.
I don’t really nap either…more because I never really become alert again, so ruins the whole day. But my husband is a world class napper, makes me jealous.
Smelling fabulous in Bengale Rouge (thanks Hajusuuri!). This is now on the top of my full bottle “to buy list”. What a beauty!
Super busy weekend. I have not read the comments from the Lazy Weekend Poll yet. This week also promises to be crazy. Coffee to the rescue! Happy Monday, everyone!
Happy Monday! I am joining you in the crazy week. We can do it!
I can imagine how super busy you must be with the holidays just around the corner. We will survive! ?
You’re welcome. Glad you enjoy it! Adanst is splitting her bottle – she posted over the weekend.
Thank you! It is amazing! I will check Adanst split right away! Thanks for letting me know!
I emailed you ?
Got it!
Thank you H!
You rock, H. ?
It is a beauty! You smell complex and wonderfully cozy!
Thank you! It is perfect on this cold, cloudy day, expecting wintry mix later. Warm and cozy!
Last I heard, I was only going to get lots of cold rain. The snow line has moved quite a bit to the north of me.
We will have rain and some wintry mix. It is pouring now.
Hey twin!
Hi twin! We smell terrific!
Yesterday, I wore vintage Mitsouko to last night’s Christmas party. I just have 1 more gift to get but not going to do that today. I am going to wait until I get a little more funds. I am currently in Ubar but going to get into the shower due to the fact that I have to do some grocery shopping to do. I think that Epic will be a safe bet.
How was the party?
It was a lot less crowded than in previous years and it’s not such a bad thing. I didn’t stay to long since I wasn’t in the party mood.
Continuing to thunk samples and decants. Today is Felanilla. I smell very cozy. A thank you to all the wonderful people here for making it possible for me to smell so many lovely perfumes. ?
You smell fabulous! You know that I love Felanilla!
Keep on thunkin’! ?
I like today’s Austen quote;,it’s so true. I have been enjoying the smell of Christmas as all the English lime (linden) trees are now in blossom…what a wonderful scent on a warm evening. I will wear JM French lime blssom today once I get up. The house is in low cloud this morning and so the view is reduced to green (trees) and white. Listening to rain on the tin roof. Drinking coffee in bed. Perfect.
Sounds perfect in every way!
I am jealous that linden blooming smells like Christmas to you AND jealous of the coffee in bed!
Hi Kanuka, I wanted to give you a song for your day
https://youtu.be/t9QZhLSKEps
You spin such a beautiful vision poem.
SOTD = Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka
It’s one of my favorite Jo Malones and lasts the longest!
https://www.instagram.com/p/B6JBoZKBvxA/?igshid=1nf2fej70nz36
I’m officially behind on the shopping but I am trying not to stress out. It’s my last week of work before 2 weeks off. I’ll be in Mexico City from 12/28 to 1/2 and need to look through the materials to make sure I’m properly prepared!
And here’s a picture of THE tree at Rockefeller Center!
https://www.instagram.com/p/B6HfAWIB6m0/?igshid=pqix3m2aund5
It must really look beautiful at night. Thanks for the pic.
It is beautiful at night but oh the crowds ?
Ohhh…I remember the days when my husband and I would have cocktails and then go visit the tree on the night before Christmas Eve. It was quiet around 10 pm. Those days are long gone.
I love that one too and it literally layers with every other Jo Malone!!
I can see that!
I love that one too, and it’s a good season for it.
I like it best in cooler / cold temps!
You smell great, one of my top JMs as well.
Yes!
Myrrh & Tonka is my favorite JM, also. It’s perfect for this time of year!
One of my friends was up in NYC this past Saturday to look at store windows and the Christmas tree. Her legs were still sore as of yesterday evening.
In Prada l’Eau Ambree, I enjoy the citrus opening so much, such good quality citrus and the drydown is lovely too, it doesn’t shout it purrs.
That’s such a pretty scent, you smell great 🙂
Thank you ringthing, yes pretty is the right word for it, it smells good all the way.
I almost wore that this morning, and it might be my pick tomorrow.
Oh great to know we were thinking along the same line 🙂
I went with Sballo today. Both the EDP and the perfume oil. It’s a gorgeous scent but only wearable in cold weather for me.
I don’t know this one, but the name makes me think of wine.
It’s by Bruno Acampora and has been around for a long time. It’s a musty rose chypre and is heavy on the hay and moss and probably patch. It is really beautifully made IMHO but doesn’t really smell dated. It is a bit gloomy, like an old stone church, and it lasts for-eva on skin. I like is better in oil format as it skews a little more fem. than the EDP. Sometimes I wonder if it has s touch of sage in it.
No fragrance for me today, I have a nasty cold.
I even worked from home, that’s how miserable I feel ?
I had a fun weekend though
I binged The Expanse yesterday
And had super nice diner with friends.
a sort of late thanksgiving/early xmas diner, with turkey, cranberry sauce, and the best sweet potatoes I ever had…one of the hosts was born and raised in south of USA, i need to steal all his recipes. Haha.
Poor Jiji, feel better soon!
Feel better Jiji! Your mid-holiday dinner sounds delicious!
Get well soon.
Get well soon. Jiji!
Hope you are back to normal soon!
Sending well wishes to you!
I hope that cold goes away ASAP!
I hope you feel better soon, Jiji!
How is The Expanse?
Only a few more days till my organisation closes for two weeks for the holidays – it’s so relaxing to have time off when the whole place is closed, there won’t be hundreds of emails to come back to. A week of de-stress perfumes is ideal 🙂
I’ve decided on the calming influence of incense for today, Bois d’Encens fits the bill.
Bois d’Encens is very calming. Enjoy your holidays!
It’s one of the most calming scents I own, so I will be sure to wear it this week!
I’m wearing Zoologist Bat today— I’m really sad it got discontinued before I ended up buying a bottle. I hear it’s being reformulated and re-released, but I don’t know how I feel about that.
I rearranged all my samples this weekend so they’re stored alphabetically instead of by whatever mystery scheme they’d been following and… honestly I have mixed feelings about it? I mean, January Scent Project and Jo Malone just do NOT belong next to each other!
LOL! Can’t think of two houses more different.
I know how *I* feel about it, which is: Has Miss Dior taught us nothing!? Just pick a different name for the new perfume and spare us all a lifetime of confusion; it can even be something bat-adjacent! Call it fruit bat or vampire bat or kinkajou and there won’t need to be a dozen basenotes entries and a year in parentheses every time it’s mentioned from here to eternity.
This made me laugh. Funny because it’s so true ?
*claps*
It’s cold and sunny here today, wearing Les Nereides Imperial Opoponax. My husband loves this one on me, he’s an opoponax fan.
Scent twins! Don’t we smell gorgeous? I’m so glad I have a bottle before it was changed to just Opoponax 🙂
SotD is Arquiste the Architect’s Club. Long forgotten in the drawer, found at the weekend while doing a clean-up.
That’s such a nice vanilla. You smell great.
YSL’s Libre for me today. This one is a powerhouse of a scent.
Just back from celebrating my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. So grateful for their example to me in truly living out their marriage vows over all these years many of which held trials and deep sorrows. Today they are a beautiful picture of grace, contentment and joy. May they have many more to come!
Congratulations to your parents! How wonderful!
Thank you!
So beautiful! ? I hope they have many more years!
Me too!!!!
Congratulations to your parents! Mine are going on 55 years this coming May. It was not as they say in French une longue fleuve tranquille (a long quiet river) but they made it. 🙂
Oh I like that, I will tell my husband when he comes home.
Sorry for my bad grammar – that should read « un long fleuve tranquille ». Fleuve is masculine. 🙂
Ha, neither of us would know.
Like that too 😉
Congrats to your parents! ??
Oh, that’s lovely ❤️ my parents made it to 68 years.
Amazing! Wow.
Lovely. What an example.
That is indeed something to celebrate!
Oh we celebrated all right.
My husband even created a skit for us to perform based on Back to the Future. It was hilarious. Thanks!
Isn’t it amazing how creative people are creative in so many ways?
How awesome! Congratulations to your parents for 50 years!
The pics you shared on Insta were wonderful. Congratulations to your parents!
Well it’s Monday for sure. It’s my one day a week that I come into the office, and wouldn’t you know it, my access to the computers is messed up today, so I am twiddling my thumbs between meetings, since there is literally no work I can do until IT fixes things. Yay. Now if I were working from home, there are plenty of things I could be doing there…
SOTD is Dasein Winter. This morning my husband says ‘the Christmas tree smells great’… nope, it’s not the tree, it’s me!
I wore that last week for the first time and really enjoyed it.
I love Winter and you smell perfect.
I wasn’t going to comment, busy day and tired by now, but seeing that it’s Austen’s birthday, I think I think I ought to.
SOTD is L’Etre aimé from Divine, no other reason than that I felt like a Divine and this was the first one I found.
You smell lovely. Wishing you a good restful night.
You do indeed smell lovely. Relax, and rest.
Off today so wore Papillon Anubis for some warmth. Trying to get a little Christmas gift shopping done today, but I’m soooooo indecisive!
You smell great. Papillon has really knocked it out of the park with so many of their scents.
Thank you! This one is my favorite of the line, but I don’t dislike any of them. Seems like she spends time working on a single perfume (as opposed to multiple, rapid releases).
I’m behind on my Christmas shopping. Not sure if I will make it before December 25. Fortunately, quite a few of my friends know that I say that there are 12 days of Christmas, and if you get a gift by January 6, you’re OK.
Maybe I should apply the 12 day rule ? I’m sure no one will complain about getting a gift no matter what day it gets there (they shouldn’t, anyway).
I really only need to buy for my in-laws. I did successfully find stuff for a Kris Kringle thingy for this coming Friday night. And a David Bowie ornament for my friend hosting the Friday party. I kind of just want to keep it ?
I couldn’t help it. I googled David Bowie Christmas ornament, and there’s a whoooole lotta scary stuff on Etsy. Yikes!
My holiday choral concerts are over and I’m tired. I slept nearly 10 hours last night and I’m taking it easy again today. I’m wearing Stash oil on my very dry legs as I make a trip to the dentist for a cleaning this afternoon. Then I might come home and take a nap!
That Stash oil is nice stuff. Hope you get some rest!
Bet it feels nice to rest your voice too.
Alaia today, because i try to thunk my decant and the weather is more spring than winter.
Visit to the Christkindlmarkt with collegues of the boyfriend, so mulled wine, eggnogg and poutine for dinner. Just four days to go before the holidays…
Mmm, poutine! We have lots of that in Québec. 🙂
Omnia today.
Last night I got so caught up in revisiting the Star Wars movies before the new one comes out that I forgot all about my company holiday party until it was halfway over. By that time I was in sweats and chamomile tea so I ended up skipping it. So my excuse to everyone is that I’m a huge nerd, oops.
Ha! Definitely qualifies as a nerd excuse.
But so weird as I had a dream last night that I took a nap and missed my dear friend’s annual solstice party. When I woke up from the nap it was 1/2 over and I felt terrible about it. It’s this Friday night and I’ll be sure not to take a nap beforehand.
Excellent reason to miss the company party!
Being at home in my sweats watching movies is way better anyway. 🙂
I bet a lot of people are doing the same thing with all the Star Wars movies right now.
Scent twins with cazaubon today, enjoying Les Nereides Imperial Opoponax, one of my very favorite winter perfumes. So gorgeous. Mom fell and sprained her ankle yesterday, she had been on the floor for an hour and a half and couldn’t get up. Yes, she had her Life Alert necklace on but didn’t want paramedics to break the lock, and yes her cell phone was with her but she didn’t want to disturb me at church! ? she’s killing me….my sister is coming tomorrow to stay with her for six weeks and hopefully give me a break, I can’t wait.
Oh ringthing, how distressing. I hope she heals quickly, and that you make it through this with your sanity intact. My mom is exactly like this too, and I sympathize with your frustration. Glad you have a sister who will share the situation.
I’m sorry that you are dealing with the same situation! Caring for elderly loved ones is difficult but at times hilarious too, try to look at the funny side 🙂
I’m sorry to hear about your mother’s fall, but glad you will be getting help for a little while.
When I was taking care of my mother, she ,more than once forbade me from calling paramedics until she could put her make-up on… full face.
Oh my goodness! That’s so funny, my mother is much dressier than I am and her nails are a half inch long and impeccably polished at all times, I can never live up to her standards 😉
Oh, don’t get me started on her nails, always perfect!
!!!! ?! I guess I should be thankful that my mom hasn’t worn makeup (except for lipstick every so often) since the 1980’s.
That is hilarious.
Wow, really, that’s too funny
Oh, how sad and frustrating! I hope she’ll be ok. Maybe telling her that not calling actually creates more distress for you?
I am so sorry, that is so stressful. At the same time, I started to laugh right away…my mom has the apple watch for just that reason and I can see her doing something similar.
Mine just can’t understand the concept of my ringer being silenced while the vibrate is still on….she received a kind but firm talking to yesterday about the importance of calling me no matter what!
That is maddening, but I can follow her line of reasoning. Hope you get a nice rest!
Thanks, me too. Unfortunately we aren’t able to get out of town this time but I’m hoping to carve out a week of staycation 🙂
So sorry to hear about your mother’s fall! That’s got to be incredibly frustrating about how she ended up on the floor for 90 minutes.
Yikes. Siblings who share caregiving duties are golden. I wish your mom the best and I hope you’re able to eke out a vacation even if it ends up being a staycation.
So sorry about your mother’s fall, but glad your sister will provide some relief for you.
Yikes! I hope you can convince her otherwise in the future, and that you get a nice break. Thank goodness she’s okay.
I’m wearing Une Nuit a Doha, from a recent split, and smelling marvelous. After a day or so of tying off loose ends, I’m on winter break from teaching, so things are looking up!
Yay for winter break!!! Hope it is a good long one.
Was commando much of the day. Another doctor appointment this morning. Just taking care of things that one is supposed to do on occasion….
Wearing Winter Woods right now. Not entirely sure on this one…may be too smokey for my taste.
I have an interview on Friday…may be more informational than anything else. But, I was going through the closet and was happy/distressed that so much of my “business” attire no longer fits. I did compose two outfits, so have a couple of choices. But it was kind of an ordeal.
Are you going back to work? Best of luck with the interview!
Good luck with the interview!
Yay for finding a couple of outfits that will work for you!
Good luck on the interview…even if it’s on a Friday when lots of people are saying sayonara for at least a week, if not for two!
I have been baking all day in order to have everything in the freezer to pull out when all my family comes on the 27th. (Each of my adult children spends the 25th with their individual family, and my husband and I spend it with one or the other of them.) One of my grand daughters is very allergic to dairy, eggs and soy so even the bread for the turkey stuffing has to be homemade or known to be without allergens. Today I made 4 loaves of bread and 3 pies and it smells wonderful in here. I am adding to the lovely scent with Geisha Rouge.
Oh I bet it does smell wonderful there!
Wow, that’s a lot! Can she drink sheep milk? That’s what my cousin had to drink due to really severe allergies.
Well done Scentspirit, you have great energy.
We are sitting at the airport waiting for the long trek home! Ugh! It was 84 degrees when we left for the airport. Not looking forward to the end result.❄?⛄. My sotd was Prada Iris as my reward after cleaning up the condo for hours.
Just picked up a bottle of Kiehl musk at duty-free, mostly for layering with a few scents that need more attention. I sprayed on some Twilly edp while wandering df, it’s suffocating me. I can’t wait to be back home with my bottles! And over-spray! I am off tomorrow to re-group and back to work on Wednesday.
Have a safe trip!
Sorry you had to leave the sun & warm, but have a good trip home!
Safe travels home! ✈
Safe travels! But what a pain too have to clean up the condo!
Safe travels, Gail!
Bon retour, even if it is to the snow. It’s always nice to get home to your full bottles and spritz away.
Wearing Rosa Sur Reuse today.
I discovered that I can do my job in my sleep! My husband woke me up wanting to know what was going on. Apparently I had been dreaming about giving a massage and was actually working on his back. He says I do better work while awake though
That is so funny!!
Haha!
I *know* better (really, I do!) than to self-medicate with chocolate and put at risk the 10-lb weight loss I’ve slowly achieved over the last few months…
But after a dispiriting day at work, I came straight home to the kitchen.
Brownies (chocolate chips, dried cherries, almonds) are in the oven. Decaf coffee, tea, and cold milk will be ready for you when you arrive. 🙂
Those brownies sound great! As long as you just have one or two it’s ok. 🙂
I’m saving plenty for you guys! 😀
Oh, and SOTD was a completely forgettable sample. I’ll find something better for the evening.
Those brownies sound delicious! And yes, I totally get it about self medicating with chocolate or other tasty goodies. I’ve hit my chocolate stash pretty hard over the past 2 – 3 months.
Oh boy. I hope your day got better. I love dark dark chocolate but I can only tolerate so much so there is a stopping point.
Enjoy your brownies now that work day is over. Hope tomorrow will be better.
Posting late today! The afternoon just kind of slipped away before I knew it.
SOTD = Incense & Myrrh absolute oil parfum. Something soothing and close to the skin was called for today. Monday was being a bit Monday-ish.
We’re perfume names half-twins ?. At least you have your hot water back, on the bright side!
Yeah, the thought of a cold shower in this weather would be all kinds of NOPE!
The oil sounds great.
I’m also posting very late. A bit dispirited for various reasons. Dreary weather with a cold front, bill-paying, setting up numerous medical appointments, and more. SOTD is MFK Baccarat Rouge. It builds backbone. I went to the late afternoon matinee of Dark Waters. One review called it a “feel-good feel-disturbed movie” which seems very apt. I like Todd Haynes’s films very much. This movie is very dark and obsessive. It’s good, but not an easy one to watch.
I hope the sun shines for you soon, Calypso! In every way ?
I’m sorry to hear that you are feeling a bit down Calypso. Hugs.
I hope tomorrow is better for you!
You have a lot going on right now. Feeling blue during the holidays is especially hard, IMHO. I hope things look better in the morning. At least the sun will be shining on us!
Good evening! Commando during the day, but I put on Un Bois Vanille this evening. (Thank you, Koyel!) I find this a very soothing fragrance.
I recognized the flower as an abutilon. I’m trying to nurse one through the winter, but it has only three little leaves left.
The ‘Maid of Orleans’ sambac jasmine is taking surprisingly well to being back inside, and has had a lot of flowers. That’s the fragrance present fairly regularly near the window of the dining room.
The other fragrances I get when I brush by other plants in the dining room include the scents of the pineapple sage, Rober’s Lemon Rose geranium (someone needs to make a perfume that smells like this), the Attar of Roses geranium, and some sport of the lemon-scented one that has the same scent. I need to remember to water the geraniums more frequently, but I find it hard to remember that the indoors plants need water when it’s raining outside pretty often.
Took a long time to get around to posting today. I’m in MFK CPLS, thanks to Koyel, twice over. ?
