It's Monday and Veteran's Day. (Plus, literary birthdays: Carlos Fuentes, Kurt Vonnegut, Fyodor Dostoevsky.) What fragrance are you wearing?
It's cold out, and I have a dentist appointment later today. I'm wearing a spot of Fendi Theorema for good cheer.
Reminder: on 11/15, wear a fragrance by Chanel, if you have one. (This is a repeat from 2014.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

In Chanel #19 Poudre. Beautiful, warmish, sunny day outside. Still dealing with so many stressful personal stuff, but trying my best to get back to normal.
Happy Monday everyone!
I have missed your moving info, but hope you have landed in a safe and comfortable place. Hoping all the personal business is soon sorted in the best way. You smell spectacular!✌?
Thank you Deva. Hope everything gets resolved soon in a smoothly and peaceful way.
Good to see you pl67! Enjoy the sun.?
Thank you, Madtowngirl! ?
So relieved to see you! I’ve been thinking positive and peaceful thoughts for you. You are smelling awesome!?
Thank you, Lillyjo. Peaceful and positive thoughts is what I need right now. ❤
I missed all this – hope you are doing okay! And the pup, too! ♥
Thank you, Springpansy. Pup has a severe neurological problem. He is scheduled for an MRI on Friday to get more info about his condition.
Oh no – thinking of you both. Wish I could give you an in-person hug, but an online hug will have to do for now.
best of luck! i hope they are kind to the pup so she goes in there unafraid and wagging tail – and i hope the result helps you find a comfortable happy life together.
Thank you, Monica404. Hope the test is not so stressful for him and that there is a treatment for his illness.
Enjoy the small pleasures, they help to bear up under the big stresses. Hugs to you!
Trying my best, Cazaubon. Hugs back to you.?
I hope your week goes well
Thank you, Kanuka.
I didn’t realize you had moved—best wishes for everything to settle down quickly!
No, I have not moved. Just dealing with so many sad and unpleasant issues right now.
Oh, I see–I hope the sadness will pass soon <3 hugs.
Good to see you here, I wish you serenity for dealing with stuff (I immediately think of Seinfeld when using serenity).
Thank you, Aurora. I am always happy to be back here.
Here’s to normal pl67!
Thank you, Robin!
I also hope all your dental work goes well.
Nice to see you pl67! I do hope things settle for you soon. You deserve a break. Hugs!
Thank you, ElisaP. Hugs back to you.
Very nice to see you here. I hope that things are back to normal as soon as possible. Sending you big hugs!
Thank you, Gail. Hoping for the best. Hugs back to you.
Adding my virtual hug.
Thank you, ScentSpirit.
I’m relieved to see you back, pl67! Hopefully life will calm down for you soon. It seems like life has been coming at you from all sides lately. Consider yourself hugged and served a big mug of tea.
Now, if we could find cm8, our finely fragranced crowd will be back to full power….
Thank you, Nancyleandros. It has been a very rough year, especially the last couple of months. Looking forward to a healthier and more peaceful 2020.
And I also hope CM8 joins us again soon.
Yes, missing cm8 and Bear too!
Welcome back, pl67. I hope the worst is over and that things are looking up!
Thank you Hajusuuri! Hoping next year is a better one. Praying for it!
Hello there perfumelover67! I’ve been thinking about you recently, and am glad to see you post. Alas, I’ve been in the same sad & stressed club as you lately. Here’s hoping that things take a turn for the better!
Thank you Jalapeno! Let’s hope for better times so we can both join a happier and more enjoyable club. Sending hugs.
Oh my, I am sending you & the pupster all my good luck wishes PL67. There’s just been too much pet heartache lately.
You smell fabulous and you have excellent taste.
Thank you, AngelaB! ?
Thank you, Veterans! I had the privilege of meeting a WWII Pearl Harbor survivor in my nursing travels. Such a wonderful gentleman who also had a big love for cross country road trips in a van. It was his Volkswagen CamperVan that got us talking, and we ended up meeting serendipitously a couple of times. He gave me a wonderful postcard sized photo, which I have kept pinned in my van ever since.
Much less importantly, I’m still in the pink cashmere sweater this is Anne Pliska. It’s colder than a well diggers a$$ as my mother would poetically say, and I need anything and everything to keep warm. T-Rex and I are counting the days…!
Your mum sure had a way with words! It must be tough to be living in a van in this cold, or are you still in a hotel? Best wishes for keeping warm.
Yes, still in a hotel, most likely for the remainder of my contract. I’m pretty flexible, especially with colder temperatures, but single digit temps and endless winds that bring the “Feels Like“ temp down to the minus teens is not doable for me or the doggo. Not sure how indigenous populations and pioneers survived out here in these treeless, wind-lashed plains. The wind just howls like a demon from Dante’s 9th Circle of Hell…My mother was a hot mess! ?
I bet your mother and my mother would have been friends.
Ha! You might be right! ?
Glad you are in a hotel! One time my husband was driving a construction crew out to Montana and one of the workers was an immigrant who had never been west of Scranton, PA. He was asleep and when he woke up in North Dakota, he asked, “why did they cut down all the trees?” Definitely nothing to slow down the wind out there. Hope your remaining time passes quickly.
Thank you! There is a special beauty to the plain lands, but in winter temps like this, I’d prefer to see the beauty via photos.
And photos are less chilly!
Ik suppose the indigenous people might have moved around a bit? It sounds rather grim. I’ve always lived in a temperate zone, so even though I can cope with cold to a point, I think I would struggle with the temperatures you are facing right now.
You smell great! Stay warm!
Thank you! I have a big lighter in case I need to start a fire ? ?
Glad you two are staying warm in a hotel!
Yes, we’re very spoiled now by the endless supply of water and comfort of warm air! These are killing temperatures and I really feel for the homeless population here.
My dad is from Minot ND. When his mother’s family immigrated from Austria, they were living in a sod house built into a hillside. Despite the rustic conditions, it was probably decent insulation against the cold. Hang in there!
Yes, I can see how “soddies” would have been better in the cold than standard wooden housing. But still, there seems to be a “weight” or density to this type of cold air. It seeps into homes, clothing, and even souls, in a very insidious fashion. I can understand why some people drink the winter away up here. I think your ancestors were tough and hardy people. My father (born and raised in Ireland) was the same way. He claimed being a firefighter in winter in Chicago wasn’t “too bad because eventually, the blowback from the hoses coat you in ice, which keeps you warmer.” ?
Wow! Your dad was one tough cookie.
Keep warm Deva, so glad you’re in a hotel, look at it this way, it makes you look forward to going home.
Yes, talked to my neighbor yesterday and she said it was 72F, so she broke out all her winter sweaters and coats..! ??
Glad that you will be back to warmer temperatures soon! Wishing you and T-Rex a safe and uneventful journey back.
Thank you! Uneventful would be wonderful?
And here we are getting ready for record low temps at this time of the year…a relatively balmy 30F ?. I’m glad you and T-Rex are keeping warm in an apartment.
Hey there, you better bundle up because I think colder temps and snow is coming you way. I’m going to keep my fingers crossed the the NYC transit system doesn’t let you down this week. ??
My brother still uses expressions similar to your mom’s “well digger” comment! It made me smile.
Does he sing his kids the pinochle song?! If so, he may be my mothers long lost twin.
I think I can put my hand on five Chanels. Today I am in vintage Cristalle.
Lovely, EDT or EDP? Which one is your favorite?
Oh, yum.
I have lots of Chanel’s but today I am in Gucci Rush
Homemade chai and banana bread
Yum! All the way around?
Yes, yum!
delicious morning!
Yes, I am spoiled! I tried to ask my FIL about the chai tea mix and he started in on the difference between fresh ground nutmeg and nutmeg from a regular container and had me smell both. That is as far as I got.
Gucci Rush is very nice, my first time trying this one out. What do ya’ll think?
Love Gucci Rush. I bet you could find a fabulous outfit match in your wardrobe.
I confess, I am just changing out of my PJ’s!
I have been reading all morning and sipping chai.
I think a beautiful fall dress would suit Rush. I am going now to pick something.
Report back!
Fresh ground nutmeg is soo much better than already ground in a jar. I was shocked the first time I smelled it, it was so good.
I didn’t realize my FIL did all this! for the love to chai tea!
Agreed. Once I grated my own on the Microplane, I never went back to the stuff in the jar.
You smell great, I forget about Rush too often.
Wearing the lovely Eau d’Hiver. I think I may reserve my Chanels for just Friday. Not the biggest fan of this house, although I do admire their attention to detail and quality.
Good luck at the dentist Robin!
I wouldn’t say no to a travel size of that one or Dries…you smell great!
I’ve tried Dries once and wasn’t smitten but it’s a long time ago. L’Eau d’Hiver is so nice.
You smell wonderful. Not a big Chanel fan myself either, although I have a few.
Same here. I’ve got 5, which seems rather a lot. Mind you I do like the ones I own.
Your perfume sounds lovely. I still have Nuit Etoilee on my list to try.
It is very lovely and very Elléna.
Thank you Austenfan! Today will not be bad, but I need to get 7 fillings replaced eventually and have been putting it off. So just thinking about that is stressing me, LOL….
Yikes, it’s best not to put off dental work as it only grows more expensive with time. Bon courage, Robin!
Egads! I hope they numb you up good and proper! All in one day?!
That is a lot. It all depends on the skill of your dentist. Good luck and bon courage!
I’m such a coward that I get Xanax before going to the dentist. It really helps!
Same here. I always take Ativan before every single dentist appointment.
Guys I probably was not clear…today was just a simple cleaning, but I knew I had to schedule the other work so I went ahead and got stressed in advance
First set will be next week: 2 fillings removed, 1 replacement filling & 1 crown.
Then I will do the next 5 replacements over the next year, none of them are urgent.
Well, that’s still a lot. Not to mention the money! We wish you luck.
The cost is crazy! Thanks.
The new technology is amazing Robin, you will be shocked and pleased.
Ah, probably! Thanks AngelaB.
Chanel week. That’s perfect because I’m in Eau Premiere.
I said goodbye to my beloved granny Saturday night just after midnight. I got the call from my mom on Thursday afternoon that I should come and so I dropped everything and went. I joined the other women in my family…my mom, aunt and cousin and the four of us stayed with my gramma until she decided she was ready to go. So much love in that room. Lots of hugs, lots of tears and even some laughs as we reminisced. On Friday we got to say our I love you’s. At one point that day I sat with both her hands in mine and she said to me “you and I share a secret, you know.” I know exactly what she was referring to. I was her favorite and she was mine. It wasn’t much of a secret though, everyone who knew us, knew. I wanted so badly to be there at the end and I’m so glad I was. What a gift. To be able to say goodbye to someone I loved so dearly.☺️
Oh, So sorry to hear your sad news, but also happy to hear she was surrounded by her loved ones as she went on her way ?
Thanks Deva. Yes, she was truly surrounded by love.
I am so sorry, Madtowngirl. It is so comforting to hear that your grandma departed surrounded by so much love and care. Sending hugs and peace to you and your familiy.
Thank you pl67.☺️
It sounds like it was the perfect way to say goodbye, for both your gran and yourself. Hug coming your way.
Thanks LisaD. I think all things considered, it really was as perfect as it could be.
I’m so sorry. What a wonderful blessing she was to you. ❤️
Thank you Laura, she really was.
We can only wish that we are surrounded by our loved ones at the time we are ready to depart this life. I am sure she felt the love! What a peaceful way for everyone.
I am sure she felt the love too ltsg, exactly as we all wanted it.☺️
I’m so glad you were able to say goodbye. I’m so sorry for your loss.
This from me, too. ♥
Thanks springpansy.❤️
Thank you lillyjo, I’m so glad too.
My sympathies for your loss but what a lovely way for her to exit this life, I’m so glad you got to be with her.
Thank you ringthing. I’m so glad I was with her too.
What a precious moment. So happy you were able to be there. May her memory be a blessing.
Thank you cazaubon, it was very special to be able to be there.
I’m so sorry for your loss, but what a blessing to be able to say goodbye. Hugs.
Truly a blessing. Thank you MMKinPA.
It was good you were with her. I will keep you in my thoughts.
Thank you apsara.
If you’ve gotta go, that sounds like the best way to do it. Still, I’m sorry to hear it. Sending love.
I agree. Thank you Dorsey.
Your post brought tears to my eyes. How sad but also beautiful.
Oh Calypso, thank you so much. You are right, it was heartbreaking but something I would not have wanted to miss.
I am so glad you got to spend some loving and peaceful moments together. It sounds like you had a relationship worth treasuring.
Thank you Kanuka. We really did and I have so many wonderful memories.☺️
I am so sorry to read this. My condolences. I’m so happy you were able to be there with her at the end.
Thanks Koyel, I am so happy I was with her too.
A big hug, so sorry, but it’s a mercy that the end seems to have been so peaceful and glad you were with other family members.
Thank you Aurora. Yes, we held each other up in those final moments.
So sorry madtowngirl!
But what a lovely way to go, I hope we all do as well.
Thank you Robin. I believe in my heart that it was just as she wanted it.
So sorry for your loss madtowngirl. Wishing peace for you and your family.
Thank you Petunia.☺️
Glad you got there in time to say goodbye properly.
Thank you tannina, me too.
So very sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing this beautiful post.
Thank you She-ra, what a lovely thing to say.☺️
So sorry for your loss mtg. But what a beautiful death she had- that’s a real gift for her and for you and your family. Still hard, but I hope you find comfort in your memories of her and the special bond you shared. Hugs to you.
Thank you ElisaP. It wasn’t something that we could necessarily plan for, but in the end it was just as we all had hoped and prayed it would be.
Thank you for sharing. Like many others, your post brought tears to my eyes. Sending you and your family hugs at this time.
Thank you Gail. I appreciate your kind words.☺️
I’m sorry for you loss, but it seems she had the best possible end. I hope you will find comfort in that.
So sorry for your loss and I have tears in my eyes too. How lucky to be able to be there and say goodbye.
Thank you Gabriela. Yes, how lucky indeed.☺️
Thank you austenfan.☺️
What a blessing you two were to each other! You made me cry in the break room. I’m so glad you got to have that special time with her and be with her at the end. I’m so sorry for your loss but so happy you had such a wonderful relationship with her. Take care of yourself and take comfort in your memories and the many ways I imagine she lives in you still.
Thank you Catanosmia. We really were blessed to have each other.☺️
So sorry for your sadness, moved by the love you both felt.
Thank you ScentSpirit.☺️
grandparents always know how to make grandchildren feel special – and how to conjure magical moments.
it’s just what they do.
hoping your hearts will heal, your memories will warm you through and you feel the love you shared each time you glance at starry skies.
Thank you monica404, what lovely words.☺️ You are so right about grandparents, I always felt so special when I saw myself in her eyes.
My condolences, madtown girl. You had such a beautiful relationship with your grandmother.
Thank you Barqs. I really did, I was lucky to have her in my life.
Oh madtowngirl, I am so sorry to hear about your beloved granny’s passing. The love you have for her is so evident in your posts about her. But I am glad that you were able to be there at the end for her. Please accept my condolences to you and your family.
Thank you so much Jalapeño. I do indeed love her very, very much.☺️
I’m sorry it was time to say goodbye to your granny, but I’m glad you and your family were able to do it in such a meaningful way.
Thank you therabbitsflower, me too.☺️
My sincere sympathies Madtowngirl.
What a lovely story too.
Robin, you smell FANTASTIC! I’m enjoying RP Visa today. It’s been snowing all morning and shaping up to be an epic snow event when it’s all over. ??
I’m getting that same system, but I saw you are getting dumped on. Stay safe. !
Deep breaths!!
OH dear, epic snow event is not a nice phrase!
It’s the predicted lake effect snow amount and temps for mid Nov that are freaking people out! ?????
Oh no! Stay warm and safe!
I’m staying home ?
Yuck! Visa is perfect for snowy weather.
Yes it is!
Stay safe! Some people just can’t drive in snow, and I’m one of them! I do my best to keep the rest of the population safe by staying off the roads. I hope your homies are thoughtful like that, too. ?
It’s the first snow of the season and it could be a lot! ?
Are you in Buffalo? When I lived in Toronto I would always feel sorry for the people on the opposite shore getting hammered.
Stay warm & safe Laura.
Glad to hear that you are home safe and warm, Laura.
I can only approve of this announcement by the Dallas Cowboys regarding their star black cat. ?
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/cowboys-black-cat-starter-vikings-monday-night-football-014021807.html
I am, appropriately, wearing the black incense, UNUM LAVS.
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2019/nov/11/worlds-most-expensive-watch-sells-for-242m-in-charity-auction
In case you are thinking of a stocking filler for Christmas!
Wow! It’s fun to browse the lots for Only Watch (a charity auction of extraordinary, unique watches made expressly for this annual event).
I would happily accept any version of the Hermes Arceau to wear with my vintage and modern Hermes fragrances. ?
https://www.christies.com/lotfinder/watches/hermes-arceau-lheure-de-la-lune-6227434-details.aspx?from=salesummery&intobjectid=6227434&sid=7daff25e-8b50-4356-ab87-2114ee548e3b
Dear me! What an investment piece
Hermes Vetiver Tonka today. All of a sudden I “need” some of this, too…
Aha, maybe I need some too.
I have my extra large sample coming soon. I have only tested a few times on the skin and found it very long lasting compared to some of the JCE other Hermessence that last for a New York minute. How do you find it?
Yes, long lasting, but soft and not in your face. Lovely combination.
I thunked my sample. First thunk in a while.
one of my favorites. long lasting on me too! you smell great!
Good luck at the dentist!
Wearing Vetiver by Dior.
Thanks Sebastian!
Snowing like crazy here, at least it’s covering up all the unraked leaves ? I’m off today and Larry the cat and I are watching drivers struggle up the hill having forgotten how to drive in the snow since last year. Wearing Theo Fennell Scent, someone here wore it last week and reminded me that I have a bottle, it’s gorgeous.
Keep cosy and enjoy your day.
Yes, a great scent for the cold weather.
We didn’t get to our leaves before the snow either. Oh well.
Goutal Vanille Exquise. My first niche bottle. I have a couple of Chanel’s but didn’t feel them today.
It’s such a sophisticated vanilla.
That’s a very nice vanilla. You smell great.
Goutal was my first niche too ( with Un matin apres l’orage) and I got my mum to buy Vanille Exquise shortly after.
It’s a wonderful elegant one, the vanilla of a lady, not a chef patissier.
Having a lazy morning, I’m planning on wearing Mancera Purple Flowers. Happy veterans day and thanks to all who served!
Lazy mornings are the best mornings! ?
The sky has opened, the angels are singing and strumming their harps…yes, it’s true, I’ve opened my Winter Palace decant and am having a glorious time with it.
Tell us about it! I’m curious about that one.
Like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket of sweet resins on a Sunday morning, squeezing fresh orange juice on top of it, and curling up on the couch with your favorite cup of tea to binge-watch something or other that’s been on your list for a while. A fantasy series or period drama, maybe.
Sign me up
Yes!
Me too! Just took my decant from the split meet on a test drive. Loving it! ?
Wearing LADDM right now. Dishes and vacuuming are done and now it’s get in the shower time. Part of a tooth broke off yesterday, while eating a potato chip. It’s a tooth that has to be pulled but still sucks. Good thing is that I have no pain. I was supposed to renew my ID today but forgot that it’s Veteran’s Day and government agencies are closed today. Off to take a shower, finish my Sephora order and apply some no 5.
Sorry about the tooth Dawn, wishing you a painless procedure. Veteran’s Day is not a public holiday in the UK so it’s always a bit awkward for those who do the 2-minute silence at 11am.
Oh no, so sorry Dawn!
Wearing the lovely Shanghai Lily
today. It’s been a while since I last wore this and I forgot that it’s kind of big – -though I’m only wearing one spray shared between my wrists it still seems like a lot.
I have not worn it in so long I’ve forgotten what it smells like altogether! Hope it calmed nicely.
Hmm, it would appear that Chanel is Office Wear. Wearing Jo Malone ginger bicky, as I familiarly call it, as it is definitely a comfort-scent, grey day.
They’ve re-released that one, in case anyone is looking for it!
Sooto la Luna Tuberose from my new bottle, very nice start to the day. I was away in Queenstown at the weekend , about four hours drive away, and the sunset was a very dull and spooky orange one night as a result of the smoke that has blown across the Tasman Sea from the wild fires in Australia. I also saw a huge fire burning in the tussocks closer to home which has contaminated 80% of our city water supply with ash and fire retardant chemicals, putting it out of commission for (maybe) a year. On a happier note all the hillsides were purple with the flowering wild thyme, a legacy of the early goldminers.
Anyway, home to dogs, rabbits and walks.
I hope the dentist is gentle with you,Robin.
I started to check the weather forecast and saw that my favorite weather blog (now part of the Washington Post) has a post on the Australia bush fires today:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2019/11/11/unprecedented-catastrophic-fire-danger-sydney-bush-fires-rage-amid-bone-dry-conditions-high-winds/
That’s unsettling about the water supply. I hope the fires near you abate soon.
Oh I am sorry about the water contamination, especially. Clean water from the tap is one of the great wonders of the modern developed world. I try not to take it for granted, but nothing like losing it to bring it’s miracle into sharp relief! Where I live in Northern California has been plagued with haze and otherworldly sunsets due to all the smoke in the air as well.
Dentist was fine, part 2 next Monday likely to be worse, but I will live!
So what will happen, they will have to get water from elsewhere? Or…??
I’ve had a filling or two replaced. Easy-peasy. I hope you will be able to say the same thing, Robin.
Thanks, I’ve never done it. I have had a crown done once though, and that was not a blast
My plans for the day went awry as I got a flat tire in the way to the caregivers workshop. Not only a nuisance and an expensive one at that but I’m sorry to be missing it. I had to get a tow and now I’m at Discount Tire waiting for all four tires to be replaced. Turns out the others were either old or damaged. Stupid Houston potholes are so damaging to tires! Well at least I have a couple of nearby lunch options while I wait. I’m just wearing my McQueen perfumed body cream but it’s no match for Eau de Tire.
Sorry about the rough time with tyres, Calypso, hope you got to go to a lovely lunch place.
Sorry about that. Flat tires are one of those extremely frustrating, and expensive, little inconveniences that put me in a terrible mood.
It turned out into a lovely day, the sun shone on the golden and russet wearing trees, I’m in Carven Ma Griffe extrait which I call the green gardenia. It’s possibly my favorite gardenia; I like gardenia very much when it is not paired with tuberose.
You smell wonderful. I have a vintage bottle of Ma Griffe. Unfortunately, it has almost all evaporated. It happened very quickly after I broke the seal, which I probably should not have done. I have just a few drops left.
So sorry about the vanishing Ma Griffe, Lillyjo. Our precious perfumes getting lost, I experienced something similar with a 15ml vintage Ivoire extrait. It was perfectly fine for several months and then one day it was gone pfft like that without my knowing why now I only have EDT (fortunately it was after my using Ivoire extrait for an exercise with Victoria at BdJ).
I have several little bottles of vintage Ma Griffe extrait and would love to send you one. My brother is coming over mid-December to spend Xmas and he could send it for me from France (as it is forbidden to send perfume out of the UK). I can send one of these bottles to you. Drop me a line with your address at custom of the country (all attached) in the land of jeeeemail dowt com. It’s amazing how many perfume loves we share!
Robin, what a lovely poppy photo, and I hope the dentist appointment will be swift and painless.
It was, thanks Aurora!
Began this cold, crisp, sunny day with a spritz of Nahema, then crawled back into bed with coffee and leftover tart from last night. We had my aging aunt and uncle round, with my dad. I had a flash from Joyce’s The Dead when everyone has settled at the dinner table. They suddenly seemed so frail— my aunt and uncle.
In other news, please ping me if you’d like to try the Arielle Shoshona Sunday, billed as a matcha and chai scent. It doesn’t work for me, but neither do many other beloved perfumes, and I’d love to pass on my travel-size bottle. If you wind up loving it, great. If not, please pass it along. Ping me at ann dottie eisenberg attagirl comcast dottie net.
Your observation about your aunt and uncle is so touching, and The Dead is one of my favorite short stories (the film is good too).
It used to be one of my favorites…now that I am older I can hardly stand to read it! Maybe when I am even older I will be able to stand it again.
You smell beautiful, and your morning sounds great !
Sorting out old magazines, I just noticed that there is a DIY Scent Studio in Fairfax, Virginia (part of the DC Metro area). Has anyone tried it yet?
https://www.northernvirginiamag.com/style/beauty/2019/03/28/create-a-personalized-perfume-at-fairfaxs-diy-scent-studio/
I decided to do a vintage week , so i wore Janine D by Muehlhens, that i found at my boyfriends mother. This was marketed for teenagers in the 70ies. I dont this the current generation would wear this. I have two vintage Chanel scents, so i am set for the CP
Oh how cool, was it good?
I’m making my husband drive me into work right now. I’m wearing Coromandel, which he says smells like bug spray, shut up and drive!?
Ugh! Sorry about the weather but you smell great! Can’t imagine your store will have too much traffic in that weather!
I can’t complain too much, South of me is going to get the most of it. We are in a lull at the moment, so people are heading in now.
Spray him with some bug spray and let him compare! ?. You smell amazing!
? Ha!
Maybe on a day im not ride dependent!
Touché!
Shut up and drive! That’s awesome!
I just about choked my hubby out yesterday, he claims, when I was making up some decants. And this was only the Bronze Goddess which I wasn’t even decanting. The sprayer on the travel spray refill wasn’t going on properly, so more got sent into the air than was necessary. I hadn’t even gotten to the strong stuff at that point.
Lol! Bronze Goddess is so pretty though!
Ha! My daughter doesn’t like Coromandel, I think it will be my SotD tomorrow. You smell great!
? “Drive She Said” ?
Bug spray? Not even.
A very expensive bug spray ?
We went for two lovely hikes this weekend to celebrate the lovely weather. SOTD is Bottega Veneta.
Happy to hear you’re getting GOOD weather! Hiking is a great way to enjoy it too. BV is the perfume that sent me down the rabbit hole. You’re smelling super fine!
Thanks Deva. I bet you’re smelling great too in Winter Palace. I hope your current assignment ends quickly and you’re back in warmer climates!
Smellin great, Petunia!
Yay for great weather and a perfume to match it! Bottega Veneta was love at first sniff for me.
Happy Independence Day of Poland!
I spent the weekend at the seaside visiting my grandma. Just came back to my place few hours ago.
I’m wearing Berdoues Maasai Mara today.
Happy independence day!
how’s the sea this time of the year?
It’s nostalgic and calm. Beaches are empty, you can hear the wind and the sea, taste the salty air.
sounds like a good place and time to collect your thoughts. if the mood of it was a perfume, which one would it be?
I’m wearing Jour d’Hermes this morning. It’s sunny here now but supposed to be intermittently raining the remainder of the week. My Christmas shopping is done (a first for me, ever, but I just lucked out finding things) so I might wrap this week.
Wow! So great you are already done with your Christmas shopping! I am always struggling at the last minute.
SJP Lovely, for work today.
Been reading some Bess Crawford mysteries, by Charles Todd (a mother/son writing team). Bess is a ww1 nursing sister who is stationed on the front often. She runs into mysteries that she can’t help but solve. It’s a nice balance of puzzle and historical fiction, and does not shirk from contributing the suffering of war, both on the homefront and the battles.
You smell so pretty!
It’s such a nice day- get one in before the temps plummet. To celebrate, I’m wearing PdN Neroli Intense, which smells so glorious wafting off of clothing. I almost prefer that smell to how it smells on skin.
I sliced off the corner of my pinkie shredding cabbage with a mandolin yesterday, finger nail included. And I keep bumping and banging it into things today which is making it pulsate. I should probably wear a baseball mitt! ?
Oh, I sympathize! Your poor finger. I have shredded my fingertip off using a microplane grater repeatedly and took off a fingernail with a chef”s knife. It hurts like the dickens. Poor you. I hope the pIn subsides quickly. At least you smell wonderful! Feel better!
Thanks Petunia! Yeah, I’m a klutz with sharps and don’t use a mandolin at home- food processor! But I was at my in-laws and was helping out with dinner…
The fingernail part gives me the willies.
Ughh, i did this a year ago, but sliced the tip of my thumb plus a part of the nail. It took 3 weeks to heal and i could not look at it mysel f. My medical personnel had to change my bandages ?
Oh no, those silly mandolins. I have one too, and it gives me the willies if I get too close. Hope you are able to turn down the pain level on that.
Thanks! It’s ok unless I bang it around. I have to remember to use my other hand when fumbling around in my purse and work bag.
I had to look up what mandolin was as I’m only aware of it as a musical instrument and I couldn’t quite imagine how slicing a cabbage with the strings of a mandolin would work. But I’ve got it sorted. Keep your finger clean and protected.
And I love your choice for today, NI is just beautiful. I love to layer it with Cap Néroli myself.
Hahaha! That would be a creative use of a mandolin.
I have it covered with a hydrocolloid dressing, so hopefully it will heal well.
That layering combo sounds great! I also love Cap Neroli and will probably spring for a bottle at some point.
Oh my gosh, I winced reading this. That pulsating feeling is the worst. Hope you find a catchers mitt!
same, brings back mandolin-injury memories! that is not a safe device in my book.
granted, i have two left arms.
wishing you fast healing!
Thanks monica404! Sorry to trigger mandolin trauma, lol. And agree they’re not safe, despite me also being a klutz.
? Boxing glove would work, too ?
Ouch! Later it will be a badge of honor of a sort – I firmly believe that people who cook or fix things or are active get scarred because stuff happens, but you can be proud of those scars because it means that you DO things!
Maybe if I were a serious cook. I rarely cook-my husband does. So it really just an affirmation of my klutzery.
Oh God! I am sorry! Hope your pinkie heals soon and the pain is not so bad tomorrow.
It was indeed a great day. Well deserved before we face the scary temps that are approaching.
Thank you! I hope you enjoyed the day, too, cuz tomorrow ?
Ouch, your poor finger, a mandolin can be quite lethal, my mother used one but I don’t have one in the kitchen now. Maybe, wrap your pinkie nicely to keep it clean and protected and don’t hesitate to visit a doctor, it’s our littlest finger but still important.
I don’t use one either anymore- it’s also a pain to try and clean. We have converted to a food processor which is mostly safer, and much faster.
Ow ow ow!!! Painful just to think about it. Poor you!
It happened so fast it didn’t hurt in the moment. It was about 20 minutes later it swelled up and started throbbing.
Hey, Elisa P! I asked this yesterday, but what are your thoughts on Ella? I’m thinking of blind buying it, since it’s on sale. Mostly wondering if it had an ambroxan drydown?
Sorry, didn’t see and I’m seeing it late now, too. Not sure about the ambroxan, but I really like it. I think if you like Superstitious, you’ll like this. They were really similar to me except Ella is softer and smoother and a tad more feminine. I much prefer it to Superstitious.
Good to know! Superstitious is a favorite, I probably wouldn’t like a lesser version of it. Thanks!
OW! My mother did that one year, those things are dangerous.
They are! And that dumb thing with the prongs (to create space between the blade and hand) is so awkward.
(shudder) Gives me the heebie-jeebies reading about your mishap! I hope that your finger feels better soon and heals up without incident.
Thank you Jalapeno! Me too.
Oh, that sounds awful and so painful! I hope the pain doesn’t bother you too much and you heal up quickly.
Wearing Chanel No 19 edt today. Off to shower soon, so I think I will re-apply afterwards to dose myself properly.
I started to pack a few things, including my new fun beach towel.
Whee!! Which scents are you packing?
Bronze Goddess, Chanel 19 edt for sure. Probably Prada Iris, Clinique Wrappings and Calyx for good measure.
Have fun on your trip!
Thank you Jalapeno, I sure will!
Le Labo Baie 19 on an oddly warm autumn day.
How is Baie 19?
I had a day off from radiation because of Remembrance Day and a chance to substitute for another librarian at a jk-8 school just for the afternoon, so I seized the opportunity. I had a grade 5 class with lots of questions as to why I don’t have much hair, etc. They were so kind and respectful! One boy said, “You don’t have much hair on the outside but you are still beautiful on the inside!” They just blew me away. I put on some Beige after I got home.
How sweet! What a lovely thing to hear. Someone raised that boy right!
that’s lovely. so sweet and thoughtful and kind
Awww… what a sweet kid.
That’s such a great thing to say!
Beautiful and touching!
What a great group of kids!
Oh how lovely, I would have thought by 5th grade they might be too snarky, or too embarrassed to say something nice.
What an amazing and insightful comment! It brought tears to my eyes.
It was a lovely and warm late fall day earlier today, but the front bringing winter-y weather is creeping my way now. It’s supposed to rain and then get cold. Glad I got out for a bit to enjoy the weather. ??⛄
SOTD = Oriza L. Legrand Oeillet Louis XV EdP, from the sample stash. Today called for a comfort scent.
I could not believe how warm it was today! Tomorrow does look yuck.
I’m glad I got all my outside errands done today.
I have Champagne de Bois on my left arm and Winter Woods on my right. Yes, my very first SSS order arrived today, and it got here just in time. It was 75 degrees when I woke up, but projected to hit freezing tonight. These are warm and snuggly!
Two great scents.
Thanks for the heads up on getting your SSS goodies. I’m rather interested in hearing how it goes for everyone.
I am wearing Shalimar Parfum Initial today, and I am drinking my afternoon cup of tea which is a cup of black decaf.
SOTD = Chanel Les Exclusifs 28 La Pausa EDT
… decanting for a swap and freebie package so why not make it SOTD?
As of this afternoon, all splits have been mailed out so if you joined one of my splits and have not yet received an email, please let me know ASAP. Working on the freebies and a swap and will do so through this weekend. There’s a lot more decanting to do!
I treated an elderly neighbor to lunch today. It was nice to catch up!
In other news, I’m not sure if I mentioned that I signed up for a package receiving service at the local UPS Store. I use a real street address as my Mail To address and the store can sign for packages if required. Only what I designate to go to this address gets sent there. I decided to do this when I realized that the meandering International Fed Ex package that took 3 days to get from Scotland to NJ and swirled around NJ for almost 2 weeks should never happen again. Also, while it has not happened to me, there have been news reports of package snatchers following UPS and FedEx trucks around and swooping in to steal packages left outside and this is especially prevalent during the holidays. I signed up for 7 months to try out and let’s see if peace of mind is worth $21 per month. 99% of my orders are for more than the monthly cost so perhaps it is worth paying for. The only negative is that unless I take a weekday off or work from home, I can only pick up packages on Saturdays so there is delayed satisfaction – methinks I can deal with this ?.
That’s really sweet what you did for your neighbor.
? for what you did with your neighbor today!
I am down to five mainstream perfumes, and have worn Pleasures non stop since I bought it. But it was 82 today, so I took a 6 mile hike and came upon blooming Frangipani, Ylang, and Tea olive.
82! You’re killing me!??
