It's Tuesday and National Cat Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: taking a point with the dried apricot in L'Artisan Parfumeur Havana Vanille. Tea at the moment is a free sample from Upton, Zhen Shan Xiao Zhong Congou. That probably sounds more exciting than it is.
Reminder: on 11/1, wear a fragrance with dried fruits, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Dias de los Muertos Porcelain Lucky Cat Sugar Skull Teapot ("The Dias de los Muertos Lucky Cat Sugar Skull teapot is one of the coolest teapots out there! The front of the teapot has the skull face in purple and black of a smiling cat. The back of the teapot is sculpted to look like fur") is $25 at The Good Cat Company.
Mwhuuuuuu-ooooooooo-uuuuuuscs Koublai Khan!
Love the avatar, BobH! You smell great, too. ?
Thanks, there’s more to come!
You smell sooo good
The best musk ever, you smell great!
You smell fabulous!
SOTD is vintage Chanel No. 22 EDC.
House Twins!
You smell lovely!
I have 22 from the 90’s, so maybe they smell the same? Tell us more about your vintage..
I’m not typically a fan of florals, but this is a true beauty that I find quite comforting and elegant without the cool reserve of No. 19. I get white flowers (no one flower in particular) over a delicate incense base of benzoin and opoponax.
For me, it’s a perfect bed time scent, especially in the winter time. It has relatively nice staying power, I still have a light dusting of powder and tonka the next morning.
Sounds lovely…
I have some vintage edt. I find that the vintage edt is a lot more powdery than the current edt I have.
Me too, I like the newer version, the vintage No. 22 is more incense and quiet, the newer EDT has a champagne-like quality, sparkly and effervescent.
Do you find No.22 to have similarities with Patou Joy?
I don’t see it, to my nose, joy is all about the roses/jasmine and a powder/civet dry down.
On my skin, No. 22 is white florals over incense, very meditative in feel.
In love with that teapot!
My FIL chai tea
No 19 Poudre (I wish this one would last longer on me)
It’s fleeting on me too, ltsg. Regardless, you smell lovely. Enjoy your chai!
Yes, I can no longer smell it. So I will put something else..
I switched my SOTD since Poudre is gone. Still with a Chanel, but Allure.
Better fit for today’s weather…
And for once the teapot is reasonably priced 🙂
I love No. 19 poudre, but I get four hours, tops (with having scent-glue skin).
Me too..
Allure has a bit more longevity. No 22 (your SOTD) also
Santal Massoïa for the dried fruits.
You smell wonderful! And thank you, now I know what to wear on Friday 🙂
Ah, good call.
Wearing L’Artisan Vanilia again, want to finish some bottles !
Smelling great!
The weatherman predicted it, and even though I refused to believe it, I woke up to a layer of the white stuff covering everything.❄️ It’s the heavy wet kind that hangs in the tree branches and now that the sun is out, it looks so beautiful….I just wish it had waited a month, or two, lol.
Felt like a good day for Casmir.
Casmir is perfect for your weather but I am so not ready for it!
I am not ready for it either Petunia.☹️
I think I will be seeing ❄tomorrow in the form of the wintery mix. Let the driving game’s begin!
Ugh, the dreaded wintery mix. Stay safe out there lillyjo!
Oh, it is an excellent day for Casmir!
I agree!
Casmir is gorgeous stuff… You smell wonderful!
Thank you SmokeyToes!
whoa, i hope it stays beautiful then melts away quickly
Ha! My thoughts exactly!
Mona d Orio Musc today
Looks like MdO has a new collection coming…
Hmm, interesting!
Good morning! Scent of the morning is Mediterranean Fig. Tea of the morning is Trader Joe’s Jasmine Green.
Tea cousins, Trader Joe’s Spiced Chai is my morning tea.
Hello, cousin! 🙂 As the weather gets colder here, I’ll add chai into my round of morning teas.
I happened to find Bigelow decaf Spiced Chai at The Christmas Tree Shop. Now I can have chai in the evenings! 🙂 Okay, this is the kind of thing I get excited about. lol
That sugar skull cat teapot is quite appropriate for Halloween, I think. 🙂
Broke the “no-buy” this morning by ordering travel-sized perfumes directly from The Different Company. I had the website up in the English language version, but then got knocked offline for a bit. When I resumed, it was all in French, but I could read that well enough to continue. It’s amazing what comes back.
When someone linked to the Tauer website a few months ago, I could figure out the comments that were in German. I haven’t formally studied German, but informally picked some up, and English and German have a number of cognates.
GREAT TEAPOT. I am wearing Eau du Sud.
You smell great Regina!
Adorable teapot! I do coffee in the morning and tea later in the day so no tea for me right now, but I made a discovery over the weekend – Whiskey Cinnamon Snap from a local store, Summit Spice + Tea Company. Aged in whiskey barrels so you get a rich boozy flavor without the alcohol. Good to keep warm with on weeknights.
SOTD is Kate Walsh Boyfriend.
Interesting tea, will check it out!
I don’t think they have the seasonal ones on their website, but I was gonna pop over there sometime this week, I’ll see if they still have it 🙂
That’s a great idea, I love to put a drop of cognac in my tea.
Smelling good
Solstice Scents Gibbon’s Mischief Night today.
I heard someone walk by and say, “mmm…smells like cake…” ?
And by cake she must mean…Sugar Cookies, Vanilla Frosting, White Chocolate Popcorn, Toasted Marshmallow, Graham Crackers, Gibbon’s Boarding School, Cream Soda, Bourbon, Pear Brandy… ?
LOL…
I love that teapot! I’m drinking masala chai, from the farmers market. Honestly, it’s a little dusty, so I don’t think I’ll repurchase.
SOTD is a sample of Krigler Topaze Imperiale 13. Thunk!
masala chai tea twins
☕️ Divertirsi!
That teapot sure grabbed my attention. It’s cool and yet disturbing.
Box of Eels is my SOTD.
You smell beautiful. I agree, a bit disturbing but also very cool!
I forwarded the link to my cousin whose daughter is a bit of a goth chic. She said that she’ll love it. ☠
You smell lovely.
That teapot reminded me that my middle schooler is making sugar skulls in her Spanish class this week for Dias de los Muertos, I can’t wait to see how hers turns out!
I’m in Olfactive Studio Chambre Noire for the prune note. This is my favorite that I’ve tried from the brand.
Yum, you smell wonderful.
Chambre Noir is lovely, perfect for cooler weather.
I am wearing the tiniest dab of vintage no 5 right now. Flying under the radar in terms of perfume at work is difficult but not impossible. The three finalists for Friday are Arabie, Theorema and Havana Vanille. If I could figure out which one to wear.
Glad you found a way to still wear your perfumes at work.
house twins..
I have a small decant somewhere of vintage no 5 from a generous NSTer, I will have to dig it out one day..
You can’t go wrong with those choices.
Currently wearing The body shop Smokey Rose something..
Not really feeling it, I will try something else for work tonight.
I bought their pumpkin body butter (can’t remember the name) this year and not feeling it either. Doesn’t smell like pumpkin at all, just some generic spices. ☹️
Yeah, I put it on and immediately regretted it. It smells fine, but boring.
I have their smoky rose lotion and it’s underwhelming, not much scent and what there is doesn’t last. Boo.
The perfume didn’t last either. I was able to apply SL Douce Amere, over it on my break. Yay for having a purse sample stash!
To all the kitties I’ve known and loved! ? Also, that is the best teapot yet because is is a multitasker- fits cat day, Halloween, and best of all, it fits my budget! If I were a tea drinker and lived in a non-mobile dwelling, is snatch it up.
SOTD is SL Arabie, which I got in a swap moons ago. Hardly wear it because I’m not fond of it. I thought I’d give it another try as so many mentioned it here for this weeks CP, but nope, still not fond of it. ?
I finished the 3 book prologue to the Kevin Kearney mysteries and thoroughly enjoyed all three. The new word I learned while reading was “remuda,” which I’m surprised I didn’t know, as much as I loved and read about horses as a youngster.
Cheers, smell well, and stay safe NSTers!

Hi Deva…thought you might like this. Should be an olympic sport!
Great photos! The athleticism of some dog breeds is just unbelievable. ?
I was actually flabbergasted that I found a Day of the Dead + National Cat Day teapot. Who knew?
I’m wearing L’Artisan Premiere Figuier Extreme in all its coconut-y goodness. I’m the bomb! Drinking some Peet’s Holiday Blend coffee, which is quite nice.
I didn’t know it had coconut! I will dig out my sample.
Yes, there’s a quite strong coconut element to it. In fact I began to feel a little overwhelmed by it so sprayed on a layer of Tam Dao to up the sandalwood factor, and now I’m happier with the whole combination.
I think I didn’t want too much coconut because I cooked a light Thai tofu curry last night using coconut milk, and it reminded me too much of my dinner (of which I’ll be partaking the leftovers tonight!).
Wearing the wonderfully gothic Mon parfum chéri, par Camille. It has plum juice but to me it smells more of dried than fresh fruit, and I love it in autumn.
Tea is MF Wedding Impérial.
I love that one too, yes your right about the fruit I think, I always think of stewed fruit. So perfectly autumnal!
It is somehow deeply satisfying to wear at this time of year.
I love your tea <3
It’s wonderful!
Sounds like a great autumn perfume!
It is! Did I never send you any?
Ah yes! yes you did! Sorry ? but I smelt so many samples last years….
To my memory it was mostly a gorgeous dark patchouli. Funny how it did not really register as fruity.
I think I still have some left… Next time I wear it, i will pay attention to the fruit ?
The patchouli is very strong, but there is some fruit in there as well.
Fruit Always reminds me of Monty Pythons sketch about how to ward off an attack with fruit.
That Monty Python sketch…is that the one where John Cleese is the drill instructor and everybody is wearing white underwear?! ?
MP is great! I love their silliness.
Yes! And the attacks are done with bananas, raspberries etc. And Eric Idle keeps on whining about attack with a wooden stick.
That teapot is so cool. Almost makes me wish I drank tea. I’m continuing leathers this week (no plan, it’s just what I feel like wearing) in Heeley Cuir Pleine Fleur. Thunked the decant and I have loved wearing it but probably won’t buy more. I have other leathers including 100mls of Cuir Cannage to get through.
You can always use it for gin 🙂
SOTD: Ormond Jayne’s Ta’if,- roses and sweet dates. I think I have 3 perfumes with dried fruits in, just respritzed with Tobacco Vanille, I do love this comfort in a bottle, even tho it smells like a delicious candle.
Perfume with dried fruit in to repurchase: Kenzo Jungle l’Elephant!- another candley one, now I come to think of it..
I forgot about the elephant! Wearing that tomorrow for sure!
Oh yes, the Elephant! That would make an excellent candle.
Le Cri de la Lumiere for a misty Tuesday.
Adding my love for the teapot because cats+Day of the Dead is a win. A friend invited me to travel with her to Oaxaca for DotD this year which was a tempting proposal, but decided that as much as I love her, I couldn’t travel with her. Plus I thought maybe it’d end up being more touristy than I’d want. Anyone ever been? Curious…
Never been but you smell lovely!
After the debacle with my sister’s co-worker, I have decided that I will never travel with friends unless they have their own room and they would be ok being left alone at times because I will skip doing things I don’t like or don’t enjoy (it’s my vacation too).and I din’t have to pretend to please anyone.
Ditto this! Very very few people I would willingly travel with for even a short weekend, not to mention a longer vacation.
I’m home with an injured ankle (I fell down some steps Sunday) I sprayed with abandon Angel La Rose, so there’s that.
Oh no. I hope that you recover quickly!
Thank you Petunia, hope it’s much better by the end of the week.
So sorry about your ankle! You smell lovely, they never should have discontinued that line. The series was the perfect way to do flankers, imo.
Thank you Lillyjo, totally agree with you on this flanker line, the two I have are just so good, TM seems to have lost its way a bit.
Ouch, poor you, i wish you a speedy recovery!
Thank you for these good wishes, Jiji.
Ouch, nasty. I hope the perfume helps
Thank you Kanuka, yes, being in a cloud of rosy, patchouli Angel provides some comfort.
Oh no! I hope you’re ankle is feeling better soon!
Thank you, I’m having unwished for rest because of it 🙂
Oh no, hope it heals quickly!
Thank you Cazaubon, and I felt so stupid for not having looked where I was going.
I hope you recover quickly, falling down steps is always such a fright.
Thank you, Gaynor, and so embarrasing.
Falling is nothing to be embarrassed about.
Oh boo! So sorry, hope it doesn’t take long to heal.
Thank you Robin, I figure ankle will be okayish by the end of the week.
Ouch! Hope you are back on your feet soon.
Thank you for the well wishes ringthing.
Ouch. I hope rest and ice will fix it!
Thank you, Hajusuuri, fancy dry ice packs were new to me and quite effective, I think.
Cozy musky Le Labo Tonka 25 today. It is fun to go through comments and see where dried fruits pop up. I also realized that I had forgotten plum is a dried fruit, d’oh.
There is way more dried fruit out there than I’d remembered too. Wish I had some Amouage Jubilation.
I wore Ormonde Woman today
When I came home from work my Samsara mini (7,5 ml) had arrived in the mail.
Its the edp and probably an (early) 90s batch.
I just applied a few drops and It smells very good! ?
I’ve seen those minis on eBay and they look so cute. You smell wonderful!
They are very cute indeed!
Its the 2nd Guerlain in my collection. The first one was also a mini, Mitsouko (need to check that batch code some time, but it smells very oakmossy, i bet its older than 2 decades)
You smell wonderful! I haven’t worn Woman in a while and I miss it.
The house smells of wet dogs and damp washing as it has been raining off and on every day for ages…heavy down pours and hail, then clears, then rains, then clears, then rains…then rains again. The lilac trees are in full bloom now. There is one down the road growing in a gap between a corrugated iron shed and a corrugated iron garage … A burst of violet in the grey. Al Oudh today.
Al Oudh – you smell fantastic!
Lilac is my favourite flower to smell in the wild. Lucky you!
Lilac and fringe tree, tie.
Love the teapot!
SOTD = Memo Paris Eau de Memo
Lemon, tea, leather. I now have a travel spray holder for this.

In other news, I am still awaiting news from the Administrative Law Judge. It is supposed to take several weeks so all I can say is we’re just that much closer to a decision!
I’m rooting for you, hajusuuri!
That is one cool looking case!
The Jackson Pollock reference on your IG post made me think of this: I found it a gut buster, not only because I love Greg Davies, but also because the reaction of everyone else just slayed me. ??
https://youtu.be/2dImqqDzm8o
Greg Davies is so funny, I love him telling that anecdote and everyone just losing it.
He is solid gold! ?
Priceless! ?
Thanks! I needed a good laugh ??
I so want you to win.
Robin, I meant to say, I love Havana Vanille and have a bottle still about half-full! But I never realized it had dried apricot in it. How fascinating! I should put it into my rotation this week.
Well I don’t think it is a listed note, but that is what it smells like to me, very early on. Given that no perfume has “real” dried fruit in it, I think that’s a point for the cp. Anybody who wants to challenge me on that is welcome!
I thunked the last drops of a sample of Memoir Woman, but i have a decant now. No dried fruits there, but a great perfume nonetheless.
They managed to repair our accelerator today, so we could treat our patients today. But sadly we still have to work extra on saturday to compensate for the delay.
Well that’s not fun! But you smell great.
Profumum Battito d’Ali for me today. Super busy with lots of errands to run.
That was my day yesterday — good luck!
Home safe after a successful run! Time to top up the perfume.
Spring has made a return, so we have sunny and still morning – not particularly warm, but also not windy, which is a nice change, although Kanuka’s wet weather is heading our way. Le Temps d’Une Fête to celebrate the sun while it’s here 🙂
You smell wonderful 🙂
Celebrate sun when you have it! 🙂
Wearing Datura Noir today, from SL’s non-dried-fruit oeuvre…
If there is any interest in a split of Ormonde Jayne Woman edp, I’ll add it to the Split Meet. I bought a bottle at Arielle Shoshana when Linda Pilkington made an in-store appearance back in September, and haven’t opened it yet. I could split up to 30 ml, in 5 and 10 ml increments.
Hope everyone is having a safe-and-sound day today!
Late check-in today! Had a IT guy at my desk ALL DAY, teaching us how to use the newest software update….if and when it ever gets installed at our place? LOL
Anyhoo, smelling sandalwoody spicy in Adam Levine for Women. Gotta love that microphone bottle too! A good cheapie for sure!
I have a bottle of Adam Levine earmarked for a February purchase. I try to line up a few cheap treats because by February I’m so tired of winter. It sounds really good.
That’s good advance planning!
I do the same thing! LOL I keep a little wish list of goodies that I can get for a good price on FragranceNet.com , and a couple of times a year I buy a treat or two! My hubby wants to know when I’ll have enough perfume for a lifetime?????????
Uh….I will never have enough! 🙂
I got mine at Marshall’s so I say get it when you see it because the stock is not regular
That’s what I’m planning to do for next year too, keep a running wishlist of inexpensive stuff, so when I need a pick-me-up, I can pick something off the list and buy it.
PSA!
The all-natural online perfume store Potion is having a HALF OFF sale with code TAKEHALFOFF. They are legit. The Hiram Green line excepting Lustre, Voyage and the new version of Shangri La is in stock but I suspect will sell out very quickly. Half-off price is $82.50 for 50 ml.
Moon Bloom
Dilettante
Slowdive
Shangri La (old version)
Arbole Arbole
Hyde
Dang it! I knew I shouldn’t have paid AT&T!?
?
You’re a real gem, lillyjo!
Yeah, but only semi-precious ?
Nice!
Right? ?
Darn, I just bought Moon Bloom and paid a lot more elsewhere. :-(. Oh well!
I’m about to sample some Senyoko stuff. Or hmmm….maybe just one? I’ve been told that they can be challenging!
Ah, good luck to you then!
Thanks! I coulda kept going after the first one as I didn’t find it challenging nor did I like it!
Aha. Well, better than *too* challenging I guess.
Memo Parks Lalibela from a sample. Cozy for a misty cool day.
Got my flu shot and a tetanus booster today. Hoping for no side effects….
Anyone here tried those weighted blankets? Do they work in improving sleep?
My daughter used a weighted blanket and vest for a long time. It was extremely helpful for calming her.
So funny you should mention it. Either yesterday or today, a weighted blanket was the featured item in an email from Bed Bath & Beyond, then today I saw them on display at Target.
Off to read the reviews at BB&B!
Sampling Dates Delight from House of Oud which started off with a pretty true date note but now smells like cinnamon and powdered sugar. (I amp cinnamon) I am hungry
Last night I was looking for a hotel near my in-laws for Christmas break since spending more than 2nights at his parents’ place tends to drive my husband crazy. Found an incredible bed and breakfast that is totally farm to table, and we’ll have a cottage with a private hot tub plus we added in the Sat night 3 course dinner. It seems that it’s also in the same Texas small town as my in-laws. Expensive but it looks so worth it
That sounds lovely!
Yum I love dates, especially the super-huge Medjool variety.
Your perfume sounds so pretty! And scrumptious!
I love dates, your perfume sounds great and so does that B&B.
It’s called Elm Creek Manor
Wearing Mauboussin Histoire l’Eau Mauboussin for the tangerine note which smells like dried orange peel to my nose. Maybe partial credit?
Love the teapot! Comptor Vanille Abricot SOTD
I love Vanille Abricot. You smell fab.
Welp I obviously suck at being a perfumista these days. Well, I mean, I wear it, I just forget to check in with my friends in this wonderful community! Yesterday I wore Santa’s Majescule (lovely!) and today an in Tea for Two (also lovely).
We closed on our house and are no longer in the hotel- yay! I always thought I’d like to live that hotel life for a while but as it turns out, I do not care for it haha. So we got into our house this weekend. Our furniture doesn’t get delivered from storage until Friday, however, so we are basically camping but at least we are out of the hotel.
In the meantime, we are getting some work done on it- painting and updating fixtures and bathrooms and such- while it is empty. It’s looking great!
I have another interview tomorrow. Haven’t heard back from the one last week but that’s not a surprise. These huge companies I’m interviewing with have terribly slow HR hiring processes. I’m okay with it though because it’s giving me some time to work on the house and such.
Miss you all! You all smell super wonderful as usual!
KellyC, I’m really happy for you! I wish you luck in the job search. As always, you smell fantastic ?
Great news!! Enjoy your new house and good luck on the job hunt!
Hope that house is whipped into shape soon and you find a great job!
Wearing some Cuir de Lancome tonight.
Got an email that my bottle of vintage Farouche has been delivered in Fla. I still have about 3 weeks to go before we head down.
I am not familiar with Farouche, that I can recall. I’m happy that you got it though!?
Late! In La Pausa, love. Tested the new Comme des Garcons + Monocle, Yoyogi, sweet grass and cypress, very good! It’s the sweetest of the four CdG + Monocle scents and reminds me of a much softer Slow Dance from Byredo, another good one!
