Comme des Garcons Clash ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 20 September 2019 8 Comments

Comme des Garçons will celebrate their 25th anniversary as a perfume house by opening a Dover Street Parfums Market in the Marais district of Paris. The store will open in early October, and will stock the full line of Comme des Garçons fragrances, in addition to beauty and fragrance items from other brands, including Gucci and Byredo.

In conjunction with the store opening, Comme des Garçons will introduce Clash, a new collection of three fragrances. Celluloid Galbanum, Chlorophyll Gardenia and Radish Vetiver are described as “bringing together elements that were never meant to be associated in surprising alliances”. I will update with notes and other details when I can.

Update ~

Comme des Garçons' 10th Parfum series Clash focuses on fostering the strength of difference, bringing together elements that were never meant to be associated. Comme des Garçon perfume art director Christian Astuguevielle researched what comes when these two opposing raw matterials collide, thus creating an entirely new form.

Celluloid Galbanum ~ Floral green. "The association of celluloid and galbanum is contradictory, originating in opposite realms of technology and nature. Perfumer Domitille Michalo-Bertier [sic] designed this perfume merging the synthetic and organic. The formula includes lemon oil, galbanum heart, jasmine, cashmeran, dry amber and musk."

Chlorophyll Gardenia ~ Floral green. "Gardenia is a very distinctive note known as a feminine and heady scent. Perfumer Caroline Dumur worked on breaking down this overpowering essence with the freshness of Chlorophyll. A distinct formula including cosmofruit, gardenia, spearmint oil, pepper pink, Black pepper oil, Madacascar LMR, galbanum oil, Pea accord and musk."

Radish Vetiver ~ Woody green. "Radish and Vetiver are two roots that were never meant to cross paths underground. Perfumer Nathalie Cetto elevated them and brought them together in a woody confrontation. This scent contains essence of enhanced vetiver, radish, Cypriol and Guaiac wood."

Comme des Garçons Series 10 Clash Celluloid Galbanum, Chlorophyll Gardenia and Radish Vetiver are available in 30 ml, £45 / $65 each.

Update: in 2025, the Clash series trio was relaunched as the Accident series trio.

I do not think it means that. But I do think it’s possible they’ll do another set of “Olfactory Library” reissues. Or, who knows…
