Streetwear brand Denim Tears will launch Tears, a new unisex fragrance in collaboration with Comme des Garçons, this week.
Built around the smell of cotton, the fragrance evokes rural Georgia just after the rain. Scent notes recall heat rising from red clay, with wet green cotton fields stretching into the distance, translating Tremaine Emory’s exploration of the African diaspora into an olfactory narrative.
A dry musk floral composition opens with galbanum, ambrettolide and sage, before moving through daffodil, jasmine, flouve and orris. Vetiver, hay, cypriol and musk settle into a warm, hay-like finish.
Tears was developed by perfumer Paul Guerlain.
Tears by Comme des Garçons + Denim Tears will be available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum, reportedly $180.

Hay notes make my nose perk up😋
Same! But if they’re doing what “cotton” usually means, eg laundry musk, I am out!
Sounds potentially promising, and have never tried a CdG scent.
Speaking of CdG, this came over the transom this morning–too expensive but appealing:
