Monday, Labor Day, Keanu Reeves' birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in the best rose body product, Tauer Perfumes Rose Delight Body Oil.
Reminder: on 9/6 we're doing Best in Class...you decide the category, then wear the best.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Heeley Iris de Nuit. I have always loved it, but, for some reason today there is a note in the drydown that is bothering me a lot. Almost headache inducing. First time that this happens. The longevity and sillage are very tenacious. I am happy this last sample is gone.
Out of the “sampling live with pl67” box it goes!!! No worries, plenty of other irises in that box!
I hope it is the rainy day that is affecting my sense of smell! So weird! ☔??
I disliked Iris de Nuit at first, I grew into it years later.
I am so surprised because this is the first time that Iris de Nuit bothers me like that. I have gone thru so many samples of it and it has been a favorite iris, to the point of considering a full bottle purchase. I finished the last sample today. I am confused now! I think I need to try it again later on.
And back in the box it goes LOL ? ?
You are cracking me up! ????
I found it too sad at first, there’s nostalgia to its watery vibe, like a painting in watercolor showing some sad scene. Later I could appreciate it more.
Such a beautiful description! It is basically the way I feel about it. For me it is a grey iris, instead of purple. More appropriate for the Fall season mood than the Spring or Summer one.
Thank you and yes I agree, it’s an autumnal iris painted in grey.
I like Iris de Nuit, but can hardly smell it, it is so faint on me.
It has been always pretty strong and long lasting on me. Maybe, because I sprayed a lot, especially on clothes.
Aww so sorry the note is bothering you. Interesting how that has happened. Hopefully it’ll work for you again later.
I hope so too. I am almost sure it is the grey amber (ambergris) in the drydown that it is ruin the scent. I have always had a hard time with ambergris. I didn’t notice it before in Iris de Nuit. So sad it is happening now.
Oh too bad. This happens to me too with Iris de Nuit. I love the way it smells and it gives me a big old headache.
We are on the same boat! The carroty/violet opening is wonderful! The drydown is the one bothering me. I am sure is the ambergris.
Kenzo week… Indian Holi.
And in case the craziness of work prevents me from posting I intend to also wear this week Amour le Parfum, Flower, Elephant, Amour and Summer.
Nice mix chocolatemarzipan, maybe I will wear Kenzo Air this week. It’s the best vetiver licorice.
Ooo that sounds really good! I love licorice and Vetiver pairing… it’s in Reglisse Noire too.
And there’s a Mark Buxton one. Those are the 3 I know of.
Good to know ?
You smell yummy. I love Kenzo Amour.
It’s definitely delicious ?.
You smell wonderful! One of my favorites Kenzo!
I love it.
Elephant! My favorite. It’s supposed to hit 48F for a low this week (way low for this time of year) and Elephant might hit the spot
Yes I will save it for our cooler days which start on Wednesday.
I’m in a favorite Serge Lutens-Vetiver Oriental. It’s marketed for men so I’m not sure if I’m guilty of gender appropriation. My masculine side is not concerned, but in the world today, where a smile gets you a slap, I’m not sure how my feminine side feels.
On a lighter note, it is a BEAUTIFUL day here- blindingly sunny with a decided coolness to the air. I wouldnt go so far as to say “nippy,” but I’m sure that’s coming.
Happy Labor Day to those in the US. Hope everyone has a nice relaxing work free day✌?
Hope you have a great day too!
My inner 12 year old boy laughing at “nippy” ??
That inner 12 year old boy is my target demographic. ? I probably should be active on a comic blog somewhere instead of here…
I am in Azurée today which could also smell great on a man. It’s basically leather scent ..
I am laughing at your comments! There is a lot of truth in your humor
VO is definitely unisex, I love it too. You smell fab!
Love your comment, Deva! ??
I hereby declare Une Fleur de Cassie the best mimosa fragrance. I’m not even sure that that is true but it is a stunning fragrance.
Oh man. I’m trying to avoid lemmings, but comments like this really make it hard. ?
This is a great review although it reviews the older version. I actually prefer the reformulation in this case.
It is stunning an unusual and is one of very few fragrances that I tried and bought immediately. (Usually if it is possible to sample I sample at least a couple of times. My blind buys are for the “cheapies”.)
HOWEVER, one day I wore it to work and kept getting the poopy diaper whiff. Decided it was not SFW!
I’m sure it smells wonderful on you! On me it’s not good at all. I don’t do well with mimosa in general I think. Definitely one to sample before buying.
Agree! Une Fleur de Cassie is the best mimosa scent I have tried so far. It has been in my full bottle to buy list for a long time. Very unusual and exquisite scent! You smell fantastic!
So many different facets – the only thing I got was cumin and it was nausea inducing ☹️
Wearing my sample of Nishane Ani, on this cool rainy day. May add some Alahine later.
Alahine is gorgeous and your description of Ani this weekend makes it sound amazing too. I say if you love it get yourself a bottle when all your samples are depleted.
You know, today I am wearing my Ani sample and it is very meh. I think I have successfully killed my lemming!
I think you will like Penhaligon’s Cairo…
Yes, it does sound good.
I am going to break into my Alahiiine now that the temperatures are cooling
I’m in a melange of things….
sweet on the left arm: Une Rose Vermeille and Cologne of the Missions
spicy on the right arm: Pacifica Spanish Amber and Tibetan Mountain Temple
I hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day if you celebrate it!
Lovely mélange of smells!
They are all working pretty well together!
I am in Azurée , current version
My neighbor invited me for tea today and asked if I could make Persian rice cookies, so I made a batch with the help of my little ones. My home smells like rose water, butter and cardamom.
Aaaaand, off to Pinterest to peruse recipes!
Yum, save one for me!
Mmm, your home smells wonderful!
I hereby extend an invitation to tea ANY TIME if you bring Persian rice cookies.
Yum I need to look these up! And of course you smell great
Wearing John Galliano. Starched laundry and violets. Took our Bouvier to the vet today as we thought she had an ear infection, only scratching one ear. A big fat vet bill (three types of medication) later, we now know that she has ear mites. We’ve had plenty of dogs and never had this problem before. Now we wonder whether we were remiss in some way with this one!
Mites are like head lice in kids, very easy to pick up outside from a random contact. Just feel good you are fixing the problem!
It’s a gray, rainy Monday here and I am in Les Annees. I am leaving for work shortly to work a 9 hour shift. I don’t get why retail establishments see the need to be open for every major holiday. They tell their employees about the extra money they will have on their paychecks but extra money isn’t the greatest thing in the world when you would actually like to spend time with your family.
Agreed, Dawn. My store is open normal buisness hours every holiday. After taxes, the extra pay doesn’t come out to much in retail pay. Hope it’s a fast day for you.
Any excuse to run a sale and miss the point of the holiday they’re supposedly celebrating…I’m in the same boat. Godspeed!
It’s really a shame they aren’t forced to close for the holiday. I am glad some stores respect their employees (Costco is one).
It’s my holiday to work, so it’s just a regular old Monday for me. I’m in the work friendly Heeley Blanc Poudre.
Got my daughter moved into her dorm over the weekend and even managed to sneak a card under her pillow when she wasn’t looking, hopefully she found it last night when she went to bed. My eyes welled up when I hugged her goodbye, but I did not cry. I am reminded of the Winnie to Pooh line, “how lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
Hope everyone who is off today has a wonderful day!
How lucky you both are!
Love that Winnie the Pooh line. So true.
I love it too.☺️
I did a variation of the letter under the pillow for a far-away friend doing a lot of parental caregiving – so, used good old postal service. She likes those skinny Swedish dishcloths, so I included one in the letter.
That is so sweet. I’m a big fan of cards and stationary and I think in this day and age of texting and social media, there is still something special about getting a handwritten letter in the mail. I bet she loved getting it!
Aww, hugs to you. Love that Winnie the Pooh quote.
Hope you are feeling at peace today madtowngirl!
The heat finally subsided and it’s a pleasant 21*C today.
I’m wearing Rahele from Neela Vermeire Creations. Love it.
From a sample. Monday thunk. First in September.
Glad to hear you’ve cooled down!
I’m absolutely relieved.
You smell wonderful! Great first thunk in September, for sure!
Thank you! I regret the sample is over. I need more Rahele in my life.
Hey, today’s poem of the day is good & succinct~
Am having a mini obsession over Rogue’s Champs Lunaires. The others I sampled from this line didn’t grab me, but this is a BWF I can get behind!
Great poem, thanks galbanumgirl!
Guerlain Vetiver – best vetiver for warm weather.
Excellent scent. Hope you are feeling better.
I am, thank you. Had my first pain-free walk today.
A happy Keanu Day indeed. We’re big fans in this house, long before his big resurgance this year. A good day to revisit some of his oldies, after a long day of my company appreciating its laborers by slamming us with a Labor Day sale.
Wearing Alien Eau Extraordinaire.
Big Keanu fan twin! I think it’s funny that the Hollywood types were not very kind to him at certain points in his career, and now that he’s hot again, they are all over him. Do you have a favorite movie of his?
Looots of fakers out there now pretending to have loved him all along!
My favorites are My Own Private Idaho and the John Wick movies, but I’ve never come across a Kesnu flavor I didn’t like. He was so funny in Always Be My Maybe though he was a bit role.
His part of Always Be My Maybe is like a whole different, equally awesome, movie.
Jumping in to say I like some of his movies, but have only seen a few. I’ve always liked him though, simply because I’ve heard he’s a straight up damn nice guy.
Yes, Keanu! One of my favorites is A Walk in the Clouds, romantic as all get out.
I have loved Keanu since I first spied him in a made for TV movie about a tin soldier, sometime in the early 80s. Point Break my heart and on and on. I love that everyone sees how great he is now.
I found a travel spray of Tuberose de Nuit yesterday that I don’t remember buying/receiving, but I think I overdid it a bit. Today I’m going with Irish Leather because it seems to match the cool but sunny weather.
How’s the Irish Leather on you? How does it compare to Chanel Cuir de Russie which is all barnyard to my nose?
Irish Leather is not at all barnyardy to me.
Hi everyone! I’m off today because I worked the last two holidays. Sotd is Prada Candy Kiss. It’s about 3 wearings away from being a full bottle thunk. If I see it cheap, I would repurchase. Because I stopped watching the news, I missed hearing about Valerie Harper passing away. RIP. I loved Rhoda so much, you have no idea how many times I’ve tried to copy her head scarf look, but just couldn’t pull it off. Lol
I have, however managed to adopt Maudes pants and duster look?
Love Rhoda and Mary Tyler Moore. Such great style, I love 70s prints and colors.
I have been having serious 70’s nostalgia lately. I’ve been googling all kinds of 70’s ads, tv shows, popular songs and actors…a sure sign I’m getting very old.
I do that also, look up ads and such from the 70s. Do you have any favorites? I really like the Charlie perfume ads.
Not any favorites really. What I really like is how NATURAL everyone looked. I mean, yes, makeup is seen, but overall, so natural, especially teeth and hair. Crooked teeth can be very endearing, IMO. Also love hair that doesn’t have a tons of product in it. Long live the frizz! And everyone was quite slim compared to today, me included. ?
I like the Enjoli and Fabrege ads
Same. My living room is Orange and green for exactly that reason, lol!
Do you remember flocked and foiled wallpaper? We had that in the living room and the rec room- so hideous to think of it now. Lol
Oh, and I remember our kitchen was Avacado and Harvest, heavy on the formica. And my mom used a percolator for coffee- the good old day! ?
Yes! I Thought that foil was so beautiful, though. We just had “regular” olive green stripe. Perculator too. I remember when we got a new fangled microwave.. so big! With a t.v dial, lol
People are paying top dollar now for retro Formica patterns!
We had wallpaper almost exactly like this in our living room. https://www.burkedecor.com/products/black-purple-madison-damask-velvet-flocked-wallcovering-design-by-burke-decor?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cse&utm_term=214809720&variant=214809720&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7Ouww5yz5AIVBh6tBh0ySQufEAQYASABEgLJ3vD_BwE
With deep purple carpet and apple green upholstered French provincial furniture, like this. No wonder I had nightmares! ??
My childhood couch was green velvet, but my grandmother’s couch matches those chairs. It’s in my basement now, minus the plastic slipcover ?
Maude’s responses were the best!? Such a great cast.
Every now and then I catch a rerun late at night. Still funny!
We’re off to a week of 100+-degree days! As a friend said to me yesterday, “In Houston, September is the cruelest month.” So true. Well, it could be worse–we could be facing a major Cat-5 hurricane. I’m in Amouage Fate today, copying Deva from yesterday. All the cats are being very very lazy.
Too hot! But at least the summer is ending, so it should be cooler soon.
Fate is exquisite.
Off theme – SOTD = Auphorie Iris Macchiato
File this under weird. It is powdery iris with milky sweet coffee. It’s not for everyone but I enjoy it!
I’ve been working intermittently all weekend, monitoring the hurricane. I have jury duty tomorrow so that would be a little break.
I need to decide on my best in class perfumes!
Good luck with jury duty! Maybe you’ll go and not get picked…? That happened to me once.
I have never been empaneled (if that is the right term) but 2 out of maybe 7x total, I got to hear what the case was about and only by sheer luck did I not get called to be grilled.
I enjoy that one too. It’s unique. I have also enjoyed Mayura and Binturong.
It’s the 2nd one I’ve tried from this house. Miyako did not work for me – it smelled like wet basement to me (and I of course realize that this smell could be what some here like, but not me).
I despise wet basement smell.
I was called twice for jury duty and got picked zero time! ??
Good luck tomorrow!
Thank you but heh, I just got a text saying I don’t have to report in.
?Theoretically, I could play hooky since I practically put in more than a full day’s worth of work this weekend but then again, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I did that!
3rd day of hiking in a row. My Fitbit recorded 116 floors yesterday. I haven’t been wearing much perfume but a dab of Atelier Cologne Grand Neroli is perfect for hiking.
Showered with the new-to-me bar soap Cedrat and Citron by Roger Gallet. I usually use soaps by Hermès and Atelier Cologne but C&C is marvelous— slightly bitter and very green. It’s growing on me.
As for hiking, that’s great for you! I went on a hiking trip in May and I can honestly say I prefer the trappings of a city even though the scenery during a hike is breathtaking.
Really? I love hiking and really love the experience of a touch of fragrance in the wild, combined with the smell of real dirt and crushed leaves baked in sunshine. I’m a workaholic for sure, but spending time in nature makes me remember how much more there is to life. I love it.
I don’t enjoy wild vegetation and I am always concerned about how I’m supposed to get from one point to another especially if the trail is rough. That said, I don’t mind walking on nicely paved roads.
Tom Ford Metallique. I went in for a new blush, walked out with this. I really like it – pretty sweet and vanilla.
Congrats on the new bottle! Does it stay pretty close to the skin?
Thank you. It’s pretty potent after two sprays. I can smell the nots without bringing my arm to my nose.
Bottega Veneta, for a pretty early fall day. I am fed up with my summer scents and long for something heavier…
What a great choice, you smell wonderful
I was greeted early this morning by the dog regurgitating last night’s dinner on the rug, and then whining for his breakfast. Pets!
I put on some Prada Amber about 2 hours ago and I can barely smell it now, so it’s going in the swap pile. It’s nice, but not so nice I’m going to keep respraying all day.
Ugh. One of my cats did that this morning. The other one immediately wanted to eat the regurgitated pellets. Double ugh.
This is one behavior in animals I just do NOT understand. ?
How about the behavior of human nose pickers? Homo sapiens are supposed to have a higher order of intelligence, but sometimes, I have to wonder…
Well, ya got me there. I think tissue and TP are good alternatives to a finger, but what do I know? I looked for a nose picking emoji, but it doesn’t seem to exist. Probably a good thing. ?
Some eat the boogers so no need for tissue or TP ??
? I can’t hear you…!
I have one cat who occasionally decides to pee on one of the kitchen counters. She did this morning. I’m utterly amazed at the amount of pee one cat can emit. Astounding.
Not to mention the smell, or at least my understanding is that cat pee stinks to high heaven!
Today (thus far) is ELDO You or Someone Like You. Citrus mint refreshment so perfect for a hot day. No big plans, just lazing around the house, reading and working on a sewing project.
Your lazy day sounds great!
What are you sewing?
It’s an unlined jacket/coat hitting about mid thigh. Not allowed to say more as I’m actually testing a yet-to-be-released pattern for a niche pattern company that’s working on extending its size range. First time I’ve done that. Can’t put off my project if someone else is depending on me!
Got everything cut, fused, and marked, plus got started on some of the smaller components. Lots more to do, so now you know what I’ll be doing after work all week, LOL.
Jour d’Hermes for the end of summer!
For the end of summer, not the perfume!?
Wearing Seville l’Aube, my favorite summer scent these days. I went for a walk today and came home to a platter of grilled shrimp with rice and fresh green beans that my wonderful husband had prepared after vacuuming the house. My hero. He washed the dishes too ?
Waht a nice husband. You smell great!
Wonderful all around!
Would you consider renting him out? ?
One of my favorite scents!
Mine too, it’s so good this time of year ?
Miraculous! My husband would never do any of that.
Mine never used to either, since retirement things around the house have equalized somewhat, but let’s be honest, when the situation is reversed (like it has been our whole married life) it’s just business as usual lol.
Wearing Bronze Goddess as it’s hot and summery out. Back home today from the weekend away so now have to get chores done. Stopped for groceries on the way back and now am making spaghetti sauce (my hubby asked for it). Plus have some fruit to make a mixed berry ice cream with raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. Last weekend made raspberry ice cream, wow what intense flavour!
Had a great weekend visiting and walked the golf course twice. It’s a cardio workout with all the hills and a couple of really steep inclines. I was huffing and puffing!
Jealous of your ice cream, and you deserve it after all the walking!
I”m working from home on this holiday, doing some prep for my class tomorrow. Feeling fairly ready for it, so I might take the afternoon off.
Wearing Ormonde Jayne Woman, for the first time in ages.
I haven’t posted for a long time. Just too busy, I guess, and trying to stay off devices unless absolutely necessary. But Keanu Reeves’ birthday? Must celebrate that. Wearing A Chaque Instant, which I love. A rare case where I bought 30ml and should have gone for a bigger size!
Nice to see you!
I was about to ask where you’ve been. Social media in moderation is a good distraction for me.
I have a sample of A Chaque Instant on its way and am excited to try it.
SOTD is Doterra Whisper oil.It is a subtle skin scent that I keep coming back to.
Over generous spraying of Bois de Copaiba in order to thunk the sample. Good thing I’m home alone…
After reading about Aliage last week here, I popped into the mall and tried it, as well as Aromatics Elixir, which I re-try on a regular basis. Aliage starts super nice and dries down nice enough, but something in the EL scent drydowns I am not fond – I think it’s the white linen type musks that I feel all their scents are headed to. But Aromatics Elixir! Starts yikes and ends up yum. Happy Labor Day! I feel bad for having gone to the mall, reading about all of you who have to work so people like me can shop. (but my daughter really needed shoes…)
Only feel bad if you kept them past closing time, lol. Otherwise, it’s better to be busy with customers or the day really drags on.
Best in class orange blossom: Hiram Green Dilittante. A perfect rich, heady, animalic perfume for a day off work. I ordered the last travel spray from Indigo yesterday, but I still have about 4-5ml left in my decant.
That is such a great scent!
Totally agree! Changed my whole outlook on orange blossom.
Today has been a day of on and off thunderstorms. Meh. At least the other 2 days of the holiday weekend were nice. ⚡☔?
Mr. Jalapeno is still waiting for Dorian to arrive where he is at. The latest forecast has it showing up sometime on Wednesday. He sent me a text that said “It’s like being stalked by a turtle.” ?
SOTD = AG Nuit Etoilee EdT again. I liked it so much yesterday I decided to wear it today.
So true about Dorian. I saw a joke tweet today that showed a new schedule of arrival: central Florida by Halloween, north central Florida by thanksgiving and Jax by Christmas. This already feels like a very very long awaited storm.
This must some new species of hurricane. I cannot believe how little it’s moving and can’t imagine having that thing sitting on my head for over 24 hours….! ?????
,,Stalked by a turtle. That’s a perfect explantation. I shouldn’t chuckle but it’s certainly a way to let out some of the stress.
I hope that your hubby and family are safe and sound. And that you found some comfort in your fragrances.
It’s great he has a sense of humor about it. Wishing him well!
Good evening, lovely people!
Scent of the evening is L’Artisan Seville de l’Aube. I’ve mostly been commando perfume-wise for the last several days, except for getting a bit of Chant d’Aromes on my fingers while examining the Guerlain samples I got. I think I got that package on Friday or Saturday.
SOTE is Iris Nazarena. Every time I wear it I immediately run to eBay to search for a bottle and then re-sadden at how rare and expensive it is. Ha! So pretty. I imagine this is my own personal version of Iris Silver Mist by SL which is far too cold and rooty for my liking.
I’m not sure where I would wear IN but it’s breathtaking.
I think Yasmina was looking to do a travel spray split which included Iris Nazarena, maybe look for it at the next splitmeet?
