Monday scent of the day 9/2

Posted by Robin on 2 September 2019 180 Comments

Monday, Labor Day, Keanu Reeves' birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in the best rose body product, Tauer Perfumes Rose Delight Body Oil.

Reminder: on 9/6 we're doing Best in Class...you decide the category, then wear the best.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Heeley Iris de Nuit. I have always loved it, but, for some reason today there is a note in the drydown that is bothering me a lot. Almost headache inducing. First time that this happens. The longevity and sillage are very tenacious. I am happy this last sample is gone.

Out of the “sampling live with pl67” box it goes!!! No worries, plenty of other irises in that box!

I disliked Iris de Nuit at first, I grew into it years later.

I am so surprised because this is the first time that Iris de Nuit bothers me like that. I have gone thru so many samples of it and it has been a favorite iris, to the point of considering a full bottle purchase. I finished the last sample today. I am confused now! I think I need to try it again later on.

I found it too sad at first, there’s nostalgia to its watery vibe, like a painting in watercolor showing some sad scene. Later I could appreciate it more.

Such a beautiful description! It is basically the way I feel about it. For me it is a grey iris, instead of purple. More appropriate for the Fall season mood than the Spring or Summer one.

            2 September 2019 at 2:33 pm

Thank you and yes I agree, it’s an autumnal iris painted in grey.

It has been always pretty strong and long lasting on me. Maybe, because I sprayed a lot, especially on clothes.

I hope so too. I am almost sure it is the grey amber (ambergris) in the drydown that it is ruin the scent. I have always had a hard time with ambergris. I didn’t notice it before in Iris de Nuit. So sad it is happening now.

We are on the same boat! The carroty/violet opening is wonderful! The drydown is the one bothering me. I am sure is the ambergris.

I’m in a favorite Serge Lutens-Vetiver Oriental. It’s marketed for men so I’m not sure if I’m guilty of gender appropriation. My masculine side is not concerned, but in the world today, where a smile gets you a slap, I’m not sure how my feminine side feels.

On a lighter note, it is a BEAUTIFUL day here- blindingly sunny with a decided coolness to the air. I wouldnt go so far as to say “nippy,” but I’m sure that’s coming.

Happy Labor Day to those in the US. Hope everyone has a nice relaxing work free day✌?

It is stunning an unusual and is one of very few fragrances that I tried and bought immediately. (Usually if it is possible to sample I sample at least a couple of times. My blind buys are for the “cheapies”.)
HOWEVER, one day I wore it to work and kept getting the poopy diaper whiff. Decided it was not SFW!

Wearing John Galliano. Starched laundry and violets. Took our Bouvier to the vet today as we thought she had an ear infection, only scratching one ear. A big fat vet bill (three types of medication) later, we now know that she has ear mites. We’ve had plenty of dogs and never had this problem before. Now we wonder whether we were remiss in some way with this one!

It’s a gray, rainy Monday here and I am in Les Annees. I am leaving for work shortly to work a 9 hour shift. I don’t get why retail establishments see the need to be open for every major holiday. They tell their employees about the extra money they will have on their paychecks but extra money isn’t the greatest thing in the world when you would actually like to spend time with your family.

It’s my holiday to work, so it’s just a regular old Monday for me. I’m in the work friendly Heeley Blanc Poudre.

Got my daughter moved into her dorm over the weekend and even managed to sneak a card under her pillow when she wasn’t looking, hopefully she found it last night when she went to bed. My eyes welled up when I hugged her goodbye, but I did not cry. I am reminded of the Winnie to Pooh line, “how lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”

Hope everyone who is off today has a wonderful day!

Big Keanu fan twin! I think it’s funny that the Hollywood types were not very kind to him at certain points in his career, and now that he’s hot again, they are all over him. Do you have a favorite movie of his?

Hi everyone! I’m off today because I worked the last two holidays. Sotd is Prada Candy Kiss. It’s about 3 wearings away from being a full bottle thunk. If I see it cheap, I would repurchase. Because I stopped watching the news, I missed hearing about Valerie Harper passing away. RIP. I loved Rhoda so much, you have no idea how many times I’ve tried to copy her head scarf look, but just couldn’t pull it off. Lol
I have, however managed to adopt Maudes pants and duster look?

I have been having serious 70’s nostalgia lately. I’ve been googling all kinds of 70’s ads, tv shows, popular songs and actors…a sure sign I’m getting very old.

Not any favorites really. What I really like is how NATURAL everyone looked. I mean, yes, makeup is seen, but overall, so natural, especially teeth and hair. Crooked teeth can be very endearing, IMO. Also love hair that doesn’t have a tons of product in it. Long live the frizz! And everyone was quite slim compared to today, me included. ?

We’re off to a week of 100+-degree days! As a friend said to me yesterday, “In Houston, September is the cruelest month.” So true. Well, it could be worse–we could be facing a major Cat-5 hurricane. I’m in Amouage Fate today, copying Deva from yesterday. All the cats are being very very lazy.

Off theme – SOTD = Auphorie Iris Macchiato

File this under weird. It is powdery iris with milky sweet coffee. It’s not for everyone but I enjoy it!

I’ve been working intermittently all weekend, monitoring the hurricane. I have jury duty tomorrow so that would be a little break.

I need to decide on my best in class perfumes!

3rd day of hiking in a row. My Fitbit recorded 116 floors yesterday. I haven’t been wearing much perfume but a dab of Atelier Cologne Grand Neroli is perfect for hiking.

Showered with the new-to-me bar soap Cedrat and Citron by Roger Gallet. I usually use soaps by Hermès and Atelier Cologne but C&C is marvelous— slightly bitter and very green. It’s growing on me.

It’s an unlined jacket/coat hitting about mid thigh. Not allowed to say more as I’m actually testing a yet-to-be-released pattern for a niche pattern company that’s working on extending its size range. First time I’ve done that. Can’t put off my project if someone else is depending on me!

Got everything cut, fused, and marked, plus got started on some of the smaller components. Lots more to do, so now you know what I’ll be doing after work all week, LOL.

Wearing Bronze Goddess as it’s hot and summery out. Back home today from the weekend away so now have to get chores done. Stopped for groceries on the way back and now am making spaghetti sauce (my hubby asked for it). Plus have some fruit to make a mixed berry ice cream with raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. Last weekend made raspberry ice cream, wow what intense flavour!

After reading about Aliage last week here, I popped into the mall and tried it, as well as Aromatics Elixir, which I re-try on a regular basis. Aliage starts super nice and dries down nice enough, but something in the EL scent drydowns I am not fond – I think it’s the white linen type musks that I feel all their scents are headed to. But Aromatics Elixir! Starts yikes and ends up yum. Happy Labor Day! I feel bad for having gone to the mall, reading about all of you who have to work so people like me can shop. Scent of the evening is L’Artisan Seville de l’Aube. I’ve mostly been commando perfume-wise for the last several days, except for getting a bit of Chant d’Aromes on my fingers while examining the Guerlain samples I got. I think I got that package on Friday or Saturday.

SOTE is Iris Nazarena. Every time I wear it I immediately run to eBay to search for a bottle and then re-sadden at how rare and expensive it is. Ha! So pretty. I imagine this is my own personal version of Iris Silver Mist by SL which is far too cold and rooty for my liking.
