Happy Dealer's Choice Friday! Our community project for today: propose a theme for a Friday community project, and wear a fragrance that fits your theme. (We did this in 2015 and 2017.)
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
My theme is "people change": wear something you never would have worn in your pre-perfumista days. I'm in CB I Hate Perfume Memory of Kindness.
Reminder: 7/12 will be Henry David Thoreau's birthday, aka Simplicity Day. Do absolutely whatever you like with the theme.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
New Ways to Wear Perfume – based on “I always adore finding new places to wear diamonds!” from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
I just bought some Hair Fragrance Mist by Frederic Fekkai from Winners, and now I smell like Crème Brûlée at 7 am. Will see how long the scent last and whether my hair will look shiney at the end of the day.
I like that topic!
Great CP idea!
Les Belles de Ricci, the green bottle
Tomato plants
I just googled the bottle and wow, it is…really something. That notes list sounds fab though!
omg MY EYES
??
I see a flamin’ pile of poo. It’s basically a green poop emoji!! LOL
I had the same thought!
This!
ZOMG! You all are SO right.
I had a mini of this at some point, and remember thinking that it does indeed smell like tomato leaf!
I see that there was also a series called Les Belles de Nina, which were in much prettier bottles reminiscent of Lolita Lempicka’s. But I have to agree with Kelly Red’s comment above. Yikes.
Not related to your SOTD, Bear, but related to something you posted last night. I did see your comment about fireflies, and wouldn’t you know it, I saw some in my neighborhood for the first time this summer. Up until last night, I’d only seen them in other places/parts. So thanks for sending them my way!
??
There were so many choices for the last official day of my Dealer’s Choice project, Best In Its Class. I thought about 24, Faubourg or Cristalle, but in the end went with Eau des Merveilles. And to make it a double-best, have layered a little Eau Claire des Merveilles over the top. So glad it’s Friday!
I like this theme because I think it would be interesting to see how people classify their perfumes!
Exactly. I found myself wondering if I was assuming a bit too much, designating Bests … but I finally decided everyone here would know my choices were just my own “bests” and that I wasn’t intending to make any more of a statement than that.
And furthermore – NSTers are definitely the Best In Their Class. 😀
All week I’ve been wondering what each “class” was for you, though!
Hah! Well, very broadly:
Monday = Azemour les Oranges = woody chypre (the entire orange grove, actually – leaves, blossoms, fruit, tree bark, moss and dirt!)
Tuesday = Chanel 19 = iconic iris scent
(and iconic spine-strengthener)
Wedn = Tam Dao = iconic sandalwood scent
Thurs = Philosykos = fig
(the juicy flesh, and the rest of the fig tree as well)
Friday = Eau des Merveilles = marine saltiness (also has flowers and driftwood and maybe some sand, and layering a smidge of Eau Claire des Merveilles adds a bit more floralcy and powder)
Thanks for taking the time to your categories. No 19 could be best in so many classes, couldn’t it?! Very curious to try Azemour!
EdM! There’s nothing like it ??
I agree! And now I’m wondering if the fact that there really isn’t anything like it (other than its own flankers) makes it ineligible for best in its class – is it the ONLY thing in its class? Philosophical perfume question of the day. 🙂
You smell fantabulous. Love EDM!
Thanks sistine – I love it too. It smells festive and yet calm somehow.
I’m in Coromandel from a recent split with yasmina. Thank you! Wow. Now I see what all the fuss was about. I’ve been wanting to try this one for awhile. Eventually I’d like to try all the Exclusifs and I’m about a third of the way there, lol.
When I took the first smell of my decant, the theme for today came to me “perfumes that make me smell richer than I really am.”? Bois des Iles and No. 19 also fall into this category for me. Gaia over on the non-blonde says, “smells like the most elegant and airy interpretation of patchouli- the old hippie cleaned up well, got a real job and started making enough money to wear Chanel.” Ha! Yes, love that description. I will be smelling elegant when I take my car through the car wash today.?
That’s a great theme! Hahaha. For me it would be Cuir de Russie… I guess Chanel has a lock on scents that make us feel like money.
Yeah, I think many of the Chanel’s would probably fall into this category, although Eau Premiere falls into the no-brainer easy to wear category for me.
Good theme, great perfume.
Thanks, I agree, it is a great perfume.?
That’s wonderful you like it and I totally get the same well-heeled feeling when I wear it.
What other Exclusifs did you like? I really enjoyed sniffing Bois des Isles and Sycamore
I have decants of Bois des Iles and Beige. I really liked, and went through a small decant of 1957 this spring. I’ve tried Boy (meh) and now the sample of 1932 that you sent (thank you again!?) and that seems lovely. I’m sure I’ll smell them all eventually…
In Rose Jam today, which fits my “Wear Something That You Love That You Haven’t Worn in a While” theme. I love this juice. I don’t think of it much during high summer, but it certainly works!
I was thisclose to wearing Rose Jam today, not for any theme but just because I felt like it. I wonder what theme I would have come up with. Probably “Wear something from the biggest bottle you own” (it’s that colossal 200-mL bottle that looks like it should contain car wax and is nominally a body spray but wears like eau de parfum).
Wait. Not Rose Jan. I wore Rose Flash. Good thing it’s friday. I clearly need to give my brain a break
It’s mind-roastingly hot today (not even noon and it’s already 36 degrees Celsius, and on its way to 40) so I wore the lightest, most evanescent thing in my collection, as anything heavier would probably have killed me. That would be 4711 Eau de Cologne, and the theme is Gone In Sixty Seconds: wear the shortest-lived fragrance you own, though of course frequent reapplication is allowed and in fact encouraged.
I love this theme! Citrus colognes are one of my favorite fragrance genres, and it feels so extravagant to reapply them lavishly in the summer.
It was supposed to be 40 here today too, but the rain clouds rolled in long ahead of schedule. I got soaked in the park with the dog this morning and it’s sitting at a steamy 27 right now.
Ha! Perfect theme for a hot day. I adore 4711 ?
I vote in Guerlain Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat: one minute per spritz. Really, based on my wearing yesterday. Poof! Nice while it lasted.
I like the idea of the topic but I tend not to buy any perfumes that are short-lived enough for me to classify them as such (I don’t complain if I get 3-4 hours from my perfume as I don’t mind re-applying). But if I had to name perfumes from this category, for my skin it’s almost all Jo Malone’s “blossoms” that were limited editions.
Not lasting is part of its charm.
My suggested theme is Flavortown – pick a scent that you associate with one of the five tastes: sweet, sour, salty, umami, or bitter. Today’s pick for sour is Fresh Index Pomegranate Anise, which should really have been called Fresh Index Grapefruit Grapefruit Grapefruit Pomegranate Anise.
In doing this all week I found sour the easiest to match, then sweet, bitter, umami, and salty was the hardest – even perfumes with salt in the name don’t smell really salty to me. If my Korres Olive Oil and Sea Salt body wash came in a perfume, it might have been the winner.
I probably would find sour easiest, too. Sweet would be most difficult for me, I think. I was trying to figure out the umamis in my collection and came up with a few leathers, and Satori would fit, too. Olive Oil and Sea Salt sounds very appealing!
I like your project. For Unami there might be some mushroom earthy scent but I can’t quite think of one. People say they find TRex somewhat meaty with notes of blood and metallic smoke aspects. Maybe it would count? L’Artisan Cote d’Amour is definitely salty in my experience. Just sadly short-lived.
I haven’t tried Cote d’Amour, but now I’m interested! I agree that TRex has umami but didn’t want to rely too heavily on Zoologist since I used Rhino for bitter 🙂 And I did think about wearing Demeter Mushroom, which I had given to my inexplicably-mushroom-loving husband, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I find Profumum Thundra to be mushroomy, and collect perfumes with truffle notes (Une Rose, Sienne L’Hiver, Black Orchid, Devilscent #3 which I wore yesterday) – this note is actually what sent me down the rabbit hole many years ago! I’m eagerly awaiting a sample of CB I Hate Perfume’s Here Piggy, will report back.
I’d have to think really hard about a perfume that would match “sour”. Nothing is coming to mind right now.
Smelling like a hot chili pepper in Unum Symphonie Passion to fight the extreme heat and humidity. I keep loving you Summer! ??⛱??
Lol! You have to keep letting the Heat Miser know you love it, so maybe it will stick around longer. ?good thinking ?
I love you too Summer!
We don’t want winter to hear us complaining about summer minor discomforts! ?
For my last day of Stop Hoarding Those Samples and Decants, I picked Cap Neroli (from Pixel, who’s sent me lots of winners). Once this sample is gone I have plans to upgrade to an fb.
With extra credit if you thunk…
I was planning on something else, but at the last minute grabbed a sample of TDC Adjatay. It smells great inside under the AC.
Use It Up Friday with my sample of Amouage Reflection Woman. I actually wasn’t able to use it up yet, but I’ll reapply after work. I didn’t want to gas anyone out since it’s a strong one. It reminds me of those sweet aquatic florals my mom bought from Avon in the 90s.
Travel Memories. Wear something you bought while traveling that comes from the area. In other words, not a bottle of MK you bought in London, but rather a local London or England scent.
I”m wearing Hove Flame from my long weekend in New Orleans.
Good theme! I would have several perfumes to fit it, including some of Hove perfumes.
I’m in a People Change scent today: Knowing.
But my project suggestion is The Phantom Note: wear a perfume that smells like something that’s not listed in the notes.
I like both these themes! Knowing would be a People Change for me, too.
I am joining other people who wore scents from Hermes Jardins series this week. My SOTD is Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil, which also fits my Clarity and Focus theme.
Well, it’s more about clarity than focus, to be honest, since it has a holiday feel, but it’s bright and invigorating.
Hi twin! I like your clarity and focus idea. I could do with some…
Hi twin! Thanks. If only perfumes could really this way! But they do help me get in the right mood sometimes.
My theme for the week has been untested samples, which has proven a little difficult since we’ve been breaking local heat records all week long. I’ve had mostly good luck except for yesterday, but trying something new when you know you’ll be sweating is always a gamble.
I think I’ll be okay today though, trying Ex Nihilo’s Fleur Narcotique. Not bad, but not bottle worthy, most importantly weather appropriate.
We must be breaking humidity records, it is like soup here.
SotD = Voyage d’Hermes
Because I’d like to go on a voyage though I can’t right now! ? This scent makes me breathe deep and curl my toes a little.
I adore the slightly odd yet familiar pairing of cardamom and tea in Voyage. Also love that it leans slightly “masculine” to my nose, tho every fragrance is for everyone, at least in my book.
So I guess my CP would be Scratch That Itch ? or maybe Perfume Purely for Personal Pleasure ?
Happy Friday to all! I’m off to take on my to do list, when it’s finished I’ll make time for a delicious “to don’t!” ?
You smell wonderful today! I love Voyage, it seems to always work.
Good luck on your to dos, and have fun when it’s time for that don’t! ?
Ha! Yay for doing the don’ts in life. ?
and thank you! I agree, Voyage always works for me too. It feels extra satisfying today, really suits my mood and the weather.
You smell great, I love the mild spices in this one.
My theme for today is “Surprise Yourself”. I woke up planning to wear either a le labo or L’eau no. 5 for my former numbers theme. But my heart and nose told me “Nope, nope, nope!” and guided me straight to Oliver Peoples.
I love it when that happens. That’s when you’ve made the perfect choice for the day.
???
I’m doing “first scent that made you a fan of a particular note”. I’m wearing Chaman’s Party, for the vetiver. Vetiver has turned into my go-to note this summer.
Love that one!
I am themeless
Yesterday I tried to set up my new smart tv
And you can guess which was smarter.
Ended up watching the Czars on Netflix on iPad
Slept through aftershocks
Dreading going back to work on Monday. So close to retirement but not quite yet.
My feet just want to be in Birkenstock’s permanently.
Post shower a touch of shal nur I think
Got a cd book for car but don’t like, so trip to library. Mani pedi after three weeks travel later today and hair tomorrow. Want my tv working for FIFA on Sunday.
Grrrrrrr
I called in the Best Buy Geek Squad because I know me. Also, it requires Internet and it wasn’t yet set up at that point. Two days later, when I thought Internet was finally set up, it wasn’t. I called Verizon and the very nice lady walked me through the steps which took 10 minutes of my life. I don’t follow directions well so she had to keep reeling me back in.
hajusuuri, Oye ve
I don’t to learn these things anymore, I just want them done.
I did call ATT first before I bought TV, was able to set up and connect wi-fi easily. BUT need an updated box from ATT – guess they forgot that part.
Happy Friday! My theme has been…blind buys: the good, the bad and the ugly. I’m in my first ever blind buy, Eau de Gaga, a successful purchase made soon after it was released in 2014. I need to wear this one more often!
Also in HdP 1826, which is matching up nicely. It has a spot on the July fragrance tray, some new, some I’d forgotten about.
Theme twins!
Hey, twin! ?
Eau de Gaga is perfect for summer.
And I’ve had it more or less sitting around for four summers. ?
Day 5 of Summer Scents I Forget To Wear–Ashoka. Off to the doctor’s for an annual checkup. It’s the last time I have to see this woman, we never really “clicked” because she seems like she’s on autopilot. I qualify for Medicare in eight months and I’ll be going with a terrific HMO.
Medicare totally rocks, foxbins!
Sampling Vittoria Apuana and Royal Muska today.
VA is pure pina colada on me. Quite sweet and, even though it has vanilla ??, not that interesting. Quite linear.
RM is sweet kind of fruity musk. Too much musk for me.
Theme: Captured unicorn – wear perfume that was impossible to get but you did it.
Several years ago Lancôme re-issued my all-time favorite Climat. It was a limited edition (2,000 bottles) available only in Russia. A bottle of it traveled from Moscow to Beijing to Austin to San Francisco with 4 people involved in making it happen.
No work is a special occasion! Did you wear your beloved?
I did! Funny thing: the Universe didn’t want me to wear my perfume “for special occasions” just because, so we got a last moment invitation to a friends’ son birthday (they suddenly decided to extend it from family only to family and close friends).
Wow, that’s a special bottle!
What a wonderful story!
You don’t mess around! Yay for getting that bottle!
Wow! Mission impossible- achieved!
That’s a great story! I bet its a wonderful fragrance!
The “Mission: Impossible” theme music belongs with this post. Wow.
Great story! The things we do for perfume.?
Tried to match a theme to my perfume this morning, but couldn’t think of anything interesting- probably suffering from a hotdog hangover, lol.
SOTD ELDO Rossy de Palma, which I bought during my 1st visit to Scent Bar during a particularly trying time. I haven’t worn it much recently, but it still smells great to me, even with the challenging memory associated with it. It’s too bad they d/c’ed this one ?
Theme: Perfumes named after a celebrity. Celebrities hawking their own perfumes don’t count.
I thought of celebuscent but I don’t consider this one. “Named after a celebrity” is accurate. I’ll take it! ?
Rossy is still very much present on the ELdO website. Are you sure it has been?
Anyway you smell wonderful!
I was told that by a sales associate at Twisted Lily perfume boutique. Maybe they’re selling off what they have or the SA was misinformed? And thank you! It would be a shame if it’s true!
https://www.etatlibredorange.com/en/boutique/eau-de-protection-en/
Proof!
I’m giving you a song theme.
AC/DC ?Whole lotta Rosie??
Haha! Perfect!
Wayne and Garth totally approve of this idea!
You weren’t part of that hot dog eating contest yesterday, were you?? My husband said the winner ate 71 hot dogs, WITH BUNS.? Oof. I feel queasy just thinking about it.
I watched the hot dog eating contest. Or rather, I listened to it. Every time I looked up at the TV, I discovered that was not a good idea at all. Ew.
Oof! My husband watches that. I can’t. Joey Chestnut still the champ.
I am wearing La Parfumerie Moderne Belles Rives today. A theme for this one could be “wear a fragrance from a lesser known and underrated brand”
Good theme and I have copied it for mine – Solstice Scents Estate Vetiver!
My theme is “The Emergency Perfume Stash” and I’m wearing L’Ambre des Merveilles. Just came back to Boston from a friend’s July 4th cookout in Long Island and this was the most appealing option in my purse
Hope the cookout was fun!
SOTD = Solstice Scents Estate Vetiver
This could fit Robin’s and Lucas’ themes.:
– Pre-perfumista, I would be horrified to wear PATCHOULI but I have come to appreciate it.
– Solstice Scents is a lesser known and underrated brand.
Additional themes:
– What you see is not what you get. I thought this would be Vetiver-forward given the name but it is actually patchouli from top to bottom
– Woman-owned indie brand
My vodka pops were a bust yesterday because they did not freeze! They’re supposed to get into slush consistency and none did except for one and by then, we were getting ready to leave and drinking right before driving is no bueno. So I left the 5 that were in the host’s freezer and took home the rest ?
In other news, in mid-August, I will be driving with my sister to pick up my nephew at Middlebury College in Vermont. We’ll be staying at a hotel near the college. Any recommendations on must see places (not limited to perfume places)? Thanks.
I think I remember when you weren’t to keen on patchouli. Still no to cumin, though right? Sorry about your freezer pops.
Just thinking about cumin makes my body twitch.
If you pass by Burlington or Shelburne, anything Lake Champlain-adjacent is enjoyable, particularly Shelburne Farms. The Shelburne Museum is worth a visit, but it’s an all-day affair.
Thanks! I will check the route!
Aww, sorry your freezie pops didn’t work out! Maybe they had alot of vodka in the mix? I’ve put a bottle of it in the freezer and the vodka won’t freeze, it just gets super chilled.
That is what I was wondering….
3 froze and I’m just waiting for Cosmopolitan to freeze
They’re supposed to get slushy and as it turned out, they needed more time in the freezer. So far, the fastest to freeze was Watermelon Lemonade, followed by Appletini, then Lemon Drop. So far, the lone holdout is Cosmopolitan but I think it’s time will come sometime tomorrow. I will try my first one tomorrow – either the Lemon Drop or the Appletini.
Bummer about the vodka pops. But it brings to mind a funny story that happened to a friend of mine way back in the day. She wanted to make Jell-o shots, but used vodka instead of cold water in the recipe. The Jell-o didn’t set. It didn’t even get slushy in the freezer. Maybe that wasn’t vodka after all…
I did not know that you were not originally a fan of patchouli.
See above response to Gail…they are slowly getting there.
The patchouli aversion was all in my head with its association with hippies!
I sort of slipped from my theme today and am inadvertently wearing a mixture of Calyx and Enlèvement au Sérail.
My Sérail was evaporating at an alarming rate and as it cannot be replaced and is very expensive I decanted the entire contents into another bottle and got rather smelly in the process. It’s actually not a bad combination and Calyx is overpowering the stunning jasmine of the MDCI. I hope this new bottle will keep what’s in it safe and sound. It has been placed in the fridge for extra safety.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Fingers crossed for your EaS!
Theme is “successful blind buys”, so i wore my newest one. Lots of Coriandre, which is really refreshing. And you have to spray lots, because it fades after four hours. But at the price, i cannot complain.
SOTD is a bit of Roma, because i bought a small bottle for cheap too…
Hooray for a successful blind buy!
I’m in Lubin Epidor from a split a while back. Smelling beautiful floral goodness with just the right amount heft in the base.
The wildfire situation in Alaska has worsened exponentially, with thousands of acres burning in Denali, around Anchorage, Fairbanks, and the Kenai Peninsula. Black Spruce seems to be an excellent fire relay, flames jumping from tree to tree and then consuming other mixed plants and trees all around. Very sad to see such a beautiful wilderness consumed by fire.
We decided to head back, unfortunately. I don’t think it’s wise to continue and risk getting stranded or injured by smoke inhalation (or worse!). The Sterling Highway (the main road on the Kenai Peninsula) it already being affected and visibility is limited.
Currently in Whitehorse, and will start heading south via the Cassier Highway.
Smell well, y’all!
Oh goodness, I’m so sorry to hear that you have to turn back but I’m glad you’re making a safe choice. Maybe you can spend some unexpected extra time in Alberta?
You smell amazing by the way. I love Epidor.
Dang Deva, I’m sorry you had to turn back. Stay safe.
Epidor is wonderful:) I certainly wish I had known about the split..perhaps another will cross my path somehow. One can dream lol.
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear you could not make it to Alaska as you had dreamed. I hope you can make that trip in the near future. What is important is that you and T-Rex are safe and fine!
be careful out there, Deva.
I’m sorry you have to head back, but you are right to be wise and stay safe!
Sorry about Alaska not working out, but maybe you can enjoy some more quality time in Canada. Hope T-Rex has recovered.
Yikes! I’m sorry that you were forced to turn back from Alaska Deva, but relieved to hear that both you & T-Rex are safe and sound. I hope that someday you WILL get to Alaska.
Probably a wise choice. I saw your IG details about T-Rex yesterday, oooof! Hope she’s feeling better.
I’m sorry you had to turn back, Deva, but I’m happy to hear you and T-Rex are safe.
Oy! Stay safe
Oh. Just read this. I’m sorry. We were once in the midst of fires while at a family reunion in Montana. It’s no fun. Hopefully you will find gorgeous surprises as you explore.
Enjoying a day off today. I might tackle a box or two in the basement. Last week I donated a box of kids clothes, only kept 2 outfits each. My sotd is one spray of vintage Poison. My song to match is Peter Gabriels ?Sledgehammer???
I love that song! Great pick!
Thanks!
Love Poison:)
The original had to grow on me. My favorite is still Tendre Poison.
I missed out on smelling the Tendre Poison. It goes for crazy expensive on the evil Bay.
I love this pairing.
Thanks!
You smell great!
Getting rid of my kids clothes-from when they were little- was difficult. So much sentimental value. My oldest is 22 and I finally got rid of his baby/toddler stuff last fall when I started Mari Kondo-ing my house. I kept their home-from-the-hospital outfit and first pair of shoes.☺️
Good luck!
It was hard! I kept a Christmas outfit each, and 2 sleepers. I asked my son if he wanted to look at them, he said why? Lol
Poison matches the weirdness of that Peter Gabriel video rather well! I still remember the dancing chicken part of it.
I originally was going to do a totally different pairing today, but Poison caught my eye. I had to word associate and Sledgehammer just fit.
Those dancing chickens always grossed me out, lol.
Oh, you are smelling fabulous, lillyjo! And a great song choice to match!
For some reason I was hooked on the original Poison from the beginning. Tendre Poison wasn’t enough for me..lol
Thank you!
How do you feel about Pure Poison? I have a love/it’s ok, relationship with it. I find it very mood dependent.
I don’t think I’ve tried it (that I can recall). I will seek it out!
Most fragrances for me are mood-dependent?
Nice!
You smell intoxicating. Love Poison, the original. Always have, always will.
Went for a mainstream sample- Olympea by PR. Not great..not bad..a sample is all I would probably want of it. Pre-perfumista days..wondering if that even existed..lol..think I was born a perfumista! Lol. But I am more open to patchouli than I was I suppose. I am still a bit picky with it though.
I was definitely not born a perfumista!
My suggestion for a CP is to wear a fragrance with the name of a favorite place you’ve visited – or would love to visit – in its name. It could be a specific location – Paris, London – or a general one -forest, beach.
My SOTD for this CP is C&E’s long d/c Sonoma Valley: its figgy, grapey, herbal green with a little bit of floral scent so redolent of the wonderful California valley I was lucky enough to visit twice.
The first trip was a wine country tour of the Napa Sonoma area, a fantastic gourmet extravaganza culminating in a hot air balloon ride at dawn over the valley – the sense of being at one with the universe resulted in the greatest sense of freedom I’ve ever had.
A second trip a few years later took us to one of the charming small towns in the Sonoma valley, where we stayed in the home of a friend who was on an extended out-of-town trip. We had fun exploring the Santa Rosa area (and beautiful Healdsburg, which I did not know at the time was the home of Sonoma Scent Studios!). Best of all, the home came with a resident cat and chickens next door with an accompanying rooster who woke us up early each morning so we wouldn’t waste time sleeping! As a city girl, this was a completely new experience for me, which I grew to love – and miss! – when we left. Even to this day, on the very rare occasion I might hear a rooster’s ‘cockadoodledoo,’ I’m always reminded of our wonderful stay in Graton.
I hope the memory of one of your special places brings a smile to your face this weekend like it did mine through the joy of fragrance!
Love this!
Just saw this. What a great time you had! The main thing I miss about Nor Cal is heading Healdsburg for lunch or doing the drive through Graton. So much to explore! And SSS scents really capture the place well. You smell great.
Gucci Bamboo. My theme? “Not wearing perfume, that’s my body lotion”
Perfume free office, but scented soap, lotions, hair products okay. ?
Other “body lotions” this week, chanel chance eau tendre & chanel beige.
Spoiler alert: it’s really perfume ?
? Well done.
Also known as “Flying under the radar”. Clever!
Brilliant! I work in the same kind of office.
From time to time I would ‘cheat’ too. It’s kind of a fun game!
I’ve been wearing the heck out of Jardins, so I’ve just decided to carry on. That’s my theme. I’m just too hot to be more creative, alas. Today it’s Sur la Nil.
Too hot to be creative, but you smell great regardless.?
Thanks!
You smell amazing.
Not playing today cuz I am traveling and only brought one perfume with me. But if I had to make up a theme maybe “hate-love”? As in perfumes you used to hate but that you now love or vice versa. For the latter, Light Blue would win. I used to wear that before a fell down the rabbit hole but now wouldn’t go near it!
Found myself near a Diptyque counter and sniffed Eau Duelle again after a long time. Wow! Very nice in the heat. If it comes in the cute 30 ml I may have to buy it
Great idea for a topic!
Continuing the CP perfume to wear in the heat and today I chose Nuxe Prodigieux Le Parfum: it is very radiant on a warm, beautiful day, and I love the mix of white flowers and coconut, to me it is more successful than Terracotta.
I love the Nuxe body oil and would pick it over Terracotta any day
Oh yes, the oil is wonderful too, I have a bottle, it is so moisturizing that I apply it on my face.
I didn’t know there was a perfume version. I thought it was just an oil.
Yes, it came out about 5 years ago, I think.
I’m not sure if the perfume ever made it to the US.
Oh, I didn’t know that, they also have 2 new perfumes this year, Le Matin des Possible and Le Soir des Possibles which I haven’t tried yet.
My scent today is Delrae Debut. Sort of continuing my ylang ylang investigation. With its lime notes this turns out to be good in hot weather. We’re sweltering here like many of you above.
The best ylang ylang perfume I ever smelled was one of the Coty Sweet Earth solid perfumes back in either the late 1970’s or early 1980’s.
After a week going around stately home s, I wanted to wear something that reminds me of furniture…so I’m wearing miss dio r original which reminds me of a chandelier with a yellow silk chain cover.
I didn’t feel like something woody!
Nice!
Dealer’s choice theme for this Friday: “With A Little Help from My Friends”. Yes, i borrowed the title from the Beatles. Wear a perfume that you have received from someone here at NST. Bonus points if either: a) you never would have tried the scent otherwise, or b) you have fallen in love with the perfume you tried.
SOTD = Guerlain Terracotta EdP. I swapped for this with Nancyleandros a while back. Love it, especially with today’s hot, humid summer weather. It’s a beauty!
Great theme!
Thank you yasmina!
For your theme I would pick SL Cedre. I fell in love instantly.
I seem to be one of the few people who can’t smell any flowers in SL Cedre at all. It’s pure wood shop class to me.
Great theme!
I like this theme!
In Coromandel, now with a dash of Monsieur Li on left arm, courtesy of a stroll through Sephora.
Score of the day is my Sephora’s last bottle of Commodity Velvet, 100ml on sale for $63. After rediscovering my purse spray the other day and lamenting them folding, decided to see what Sephora still had. Glad I did!
Congrats on getting that bottle! What a lucky find.
I didn’t know they were folding! Thanks for the heads up!
With the hot humid weather we’ve been having, I’m staying with my plan to wear green scents and today I spritzed on Vent Vert
Green scents are perfect for hot & humid weather.
Sprayed on some vintage My Sin. I got the bottle on evil bay for a song ($6.00). It’s still compliant with my CP as I had it sent to me when we were on vacation. It’s pouring rain now, so the humidity is carrying the scent all around me.
Happy Friday everyone, we made it!
What is My Sin like? With a name like that, I’m pretty sure that none of my aunts ever wore it!
Right? I had to look up the notes. It’s got jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang; there’s musk and civet in the base. Its described as animalic, although not to me. Maybe I have a high tolerance?
I find it pretty well blended, a bit floral. There’s some spice in the drydown, possibly the clove. I got a sample from STC a few years ago of the edp; the edt that I have in the bottle is very similar when I compare them side by side.
My theme is what you most like to smell ok someone else. I’m in my mom’s Allure! It’s hard to wear because I always feel like it’s her scent haha but I’m smelling great nonetheless.
Have had a great week with my son and his girlfriend. We headed down to Roswell for the weekend for the Alien Festival for some good ol’ campy festival fun! Will post pics on the ‘gram I’m sure!
I’m glad the visit is going well!
My local grocery /pharmacy is clearencing some perfumes. One is Shalimar eau de Cologne. Have you smelled this one?
Yes! I have it and love it! You should snag it!
That’s a great theme! For me it’d be the original A*Men. I positively swoon every time my husband wears it.
I agree that is a fabulous theme.I love perfumes which remind you of someone. My mum wears aromatics elixir. So very evocative!
At bedtime last night, I stuck with my comforting fragrances theme, and put on SL Bois Vanille. Unfortunately, by the time I go to bed I’m usually too congested to be able to smell perfume properly. I’ve got to work on that.
