Hump Day, and International Plastic Bag Free Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
My theme today: the best fragrance for getting home from vacation, and all the associated chores (unpacking, sorting mail, laundry, cleaning up the mess everybody made while you were gone, etc). So far, Aftelier Candide is working great, plus it's nice to smell like flowers after a week of smelling like bug spray.
Reminder: 7/5 will be Dealer's Choice, edition 3...propose a theme for a Friday community project, and wear a fragrance that fits your theme. (We did this in 2015 and 2017.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try (but usually fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: you can find lots of perfume-related tote bags at Zazzle.
I wanted something cheerful so I opted for Atelier Cedrat Envirant. Worked well for physical therapy.
You smell wonderful. It is cheerful and cuts through the humidity!
Continuing my Clarity and Focus theme. SOTD is Serge Lutens L’Eau Froide.
Good choice! That is my summer incense scent, the only one of the l’eau series I really liked.
Same, at least when it comes to choosing between L’Eau, Laine de Verre and L’Eau Froide. I don’t think I tried L’Eau de Paille.
I’m the same as you. I prefer Froide of the three and don’t think I got around to trying Paille.
IMO, you’re not missing out on Paille. It smelled like generic-man-cologne to me.
That’s a good one! I’m surprised it doesn’t get more attention.
It’s not everyone’s cup of frankincense, I guess.
House twins… And incense twins, but i wore Fille en Aiguilles
Fille en Aiguilles is wonderful!
Grandiflora Magnolia Michel on this scorching hot day. Trying to use up decants before they go bad. Just found another one that is in bad shape.
That one’s nice- mostly grapefruit to me, but a nice grapefruit!
Un Jardin Sur la Toit. The Jardins are making a strong showing lately.
They are! It’s been so hot lately, no surprise!
They work wonderfully well in the heat. I find the whole bunch of them to be refreshing.
Hot, Humid day! ? No, I am not complaining! Love Summer! ?
Lady Gaga Eau de Gaga sprayed lavishly to keep me happy and cool. A no brainer that I really love and enjoy!
Love that one! You smell great today. Stay cool and as comfy as possible! ?
Thank you! ?
I know you are not complaining, you are just being factual ?
I’m in Tam Dao today, mostly because I was reminded of it yesterday, but also because it very nicely fits my Best In Its Class theme for the CP.
Oh hey twin!
Hi! You smell fabulous.
It definitely is a favorite.
Ocean Rain Mario Valentino
Ok, that’s the 2nd recent sighting of OR, or maybe I just haven’t been noticing them. Do you love it? Given that I’m a huge Roudnitska fan, do you think I need to track some down?
I do love it.
It is Eau Sauvage meets Rochas Femme, they swim in the ocean, then consummate their relationship.
Sounds very racy!
I am picturing the Gruau print now
Your flavor of the day is sweetness, embodied by Chinatown.
Nice call for a sweet perfume!
you smell great!
Chinatown fits perfectly.
Continuing my Stop Hoarding Those Samples and Decants theme with Tam Dao, from a freebiemeet sample (thanks Neyronrose!) I’m seriously considering adding an FB to my collection now that Diptyque is doing those limited edition 1oz bottles.
Once I get out of work, I’m making tonight a Get S*** Done night. I’m going to do some cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. so I can enjoy a clean apartment and a chore-free holiday and weekend. (Here’s hoping that if I put it into writing, I’ll be less likely to change my mind by the time I get home!)
Tam Dao is great, and fits so many themes.
Awesome! You’ve summed up a few of my goals, though mine require a lot more than a few hours, lol.
One of the perks of living in a 1-bedroom apartment is that the cleaning doesn’t take long
I wore Tam Dao Monday and yesterday and am sitting on my hands trying not to buy one of those 30 ml bottles too. I was not on Neiman Marcus email list and signed up and now have a 15% off code to use in addition!
Aaaand I just signed up for the NM email list and bought it. Enabler pin for you!! (PS, if you’re gonna pull the trigger, use coupon code STAYCOOL for a free bundle of beauty samples)
Just pulled the trigger.?
And I got one too. Enabler pin doubled.
Happy to have pretty colored Tam Dao coming my way…
Today I am in LADDM
Two enabler pins in one day?! That never happens to me!? Neiman’s is having a good day today, I just bought that cute colored bottle too!
Also, you smell great today!
I may join you in the Get Sh*t Done Day and I would be happy if I get 1/4 of it done. The worst part is trying to find a place for them that is out of the way, yet accessible and logical so I can remember from where to retrieve them when I need them again!
I admire your discipline!
I really need a get sh*t done day tomorrow when it comes to sending out my resume. Haha.
Uh oh. I did NOT need to know where those 1oz. Diptyque bottles were at! Dangerous info!
From the category “i may need a bottle of this stuff”
Feu secret, by Bruno Fazzolari
I had a Scrum training (yess passed the exam, certified!), we celebrated my MiL’s birthday last saturday and had loads of fun playing another episode of our D&D campaign.
And this week I am pretty busy polishing my resume/CV and looking for jobs!
For the record: the birthday celebration and D&D campaign are two separate events haha
Haha! I was thinking “what a cool MIL”, lol! I’m sure she’s still cool, though ?
She is a very sweet lady.
She is a bit weird though, she thinks the newspaper she reads holds the whole truth about everything (thankfully its a pretty decent newspaper haha) and I bet she does not even know what kind of work I do (she is a bit self obsessed / centered), but she has no bad intentions at all, and we get along pretty great.
I bet you can do so much worse when it comes to in laws
You could do worse, true. But sounds like maybe you could get her into D&D ?!
Huzzah! Congrats on the certification and good luck on the job search!
good work! need to wrap up scrum next Friday.
Congrats on getting that certification!
Which version of D&D are you playing?
For me its my first campaign/team, and it started in (oh wow just looked it up..) fall 2015!!! Oh how time flies.
My other d&d experiences are pc games, like Neverwinter Nights…. (I think that was v3.5).
Wearing L’Artisan’s Mandarina Corsica. A happy Wednesday/pre-Fourth to all!
What’s your take on that one?
I’m always faintly surprised when I like sweet gourmandy fragrances and I do rather like this one. To me, it’s mandarin, bitter orange — which adds a touch of tartness that keeps the whole thing from being too cloying — and immortelle; I know the Maltol, tonka, vanilla and “caramel” are there but they don’t overwhelm me.
I hope someone else will chime in here, too. Since they’re all wildly different, this may not be helpful, but for the record, I like Bucoliques en Provence and Mandarina Corsica; I did not like Un Air de Bretagne and Mont de Narcisse.
Thank you! I will probably choose MC as one of my two free samples from L’Artisan.
I have been waiting a few weeks for a perfume from eBay. The tracking information has had the perfume stuck at Santa Clara Distribution Center. It haa been there a week.
The seller told me to call there and there was nothing they could do. They have been quick to respond, so I can’t imagine any problem due to a seller issue.
Anyone got anything on Santa Clara?
Hmm, that is frustrating. I recently did a swap with Koyel and my package going to her got stuck for about a week somewhere but did make it to her eventually, so don’t lose hope yet. I don’t remember where the hold up was, maybe she will.
Thanks for the story and hope. I can be patient. Well, on this.
Can’t comment on Santa Clara, but I had a swap meet package get held up for a week. Hopefully it will show up soon.
In No 5 L’eau. Wore Cristalle yesterday morning followed by Beige post-shower. Seems like a theme is emerging, not sure what it is…
I’m pondering some summer perfume purchases and wondering if y’all can help me out. I’m always up for anything lime or lemon and have been looking at the MM Lemon Tree one, Atelier Pacific Lime, and Guerlain fleurs blah blah blah Cedrat.
Caveats: I’ve not had great experiences with Atelier as most of their citruses are laden with heavy spices that I find totally overwhelming. I’m not always a big cologne fan, also due to spices or herbals that drown out the citrus facets. I like my lemons and limes more straight-up, as it were.
I’m also considering LL Elle L’aime, which has been sitting in my eBay cart for like 5 summers now. I love the concept of coconut and lime, but too much coconut can be a a bit much for me.
Is anyone interested in swapping some Sycomore EDT for the EDP? I’ve got about 10mls of decanted EDT and am wanting the EDP.
Click on my username to contact me if so.
Sounds like your theme is Chanel.?
As for summer lemons or limes, I tried the MM and something in the drydown really bugged me. I found the Atelier to last surprisingly long for a citrus, but still not fb worthy for me. What about LL Bergamote 22 or Assam of India?
AofI didn’t work for me (nor did any of the Berdoues.) Haven’t tried the LL , though I had more of a cheap summer fling in mind
Lol, gotcha. The LL is a bit pricey. If you want to swap a small decant, I’d be happy to. No pressure, just let me know.
You can get a travel spray of Pacific Lime. Have you tried Cedrat Enivrant? No spices.
And I also see your Chanel theme.
Cedrat Envirant falls into the heavy spice category for me along with Orange Sanguine, Bergamote Soleil, and most of the others that people find citrusy and refreshing
Ok, I will file this under different ?
The Atelier lime didn’t work for me at all. Something in the combo made me queasy. OJ Frangipani has a great, realistic lime note that lasts for a good while.
Any of the PdNs work for you (Eau d’Ete or the Mixte one)?
As to the Atelier, duly noted.
I love OJ Frangipani but it’s super short lived on me and rather faint. I also find the iso e super in that line hard to deal with.
Have not had great luck with Nicolai. Everything I’ve tried has a common base that doesn’t sit well with me. I did buy a bottle of Patchouli Intense for my husband, though. It smells fantastic on him.
Ok, yes, the PdN issue you have is coming back to me now. I wonder if it’s the same thing I don’t love- kinda dusky/bitter? Maybe fake oakmoss or some patchouli-ish thing? It’s in the base of Neroli Intense and I just have to ignore that part, lol.
Yep! Fake oakmoss.
I really wanted to love MM Lemon Tree, because the first 10 minutes or so are wonderful, but it fades quickly and I thought the drydown was disappointing. Overall, meh. Of course, YMMV.
For lemon, I like Agua de Colonia Concentrada. It’s a cologne, so it fades pretty quickly too, but it’s lovely while it lasts and cheap enough to douse yourself in.
I’ll skip the MM then and look into the Colonia – that’s not one I’m familiar with. Sounds intriguing.
I also like Thymes Tupelo Lemongrass – it’s similar to Assam of India.
I’ll look into that, too. Thanks!
I think the best lemon ever is Profumum Roma Acqua Viva.
Wore Cristalle last night. Funnily enough, I no longer enjoy the top notes–not sure why. But once it calms down it makes me so happy.
If you want to go for a super cheap lemon, Turkish lemon cologne (Limon Kolonyasi) is a great splash-it-on summer treat. More of a Jean Nate sort of experience than an actual cologne or perfume, but it’s straight-up lemon.
L’occitane has a great lemon ? fragrance – two different editions, one more lemony then the other
I know it doesn’t sound niche, but Escale a Portofino is a great lemon that sticks around.
My theme was going to be Try It Already, which is to finally try out an unsampled perfume in your possession. I sprayed on Frau Tonis Linde Berlin No. 10, but it had a candy sweetness that I didn’t enjoy. I recall Zeta reading the same way with too much sweetness when I tried it. So instead I’m doing Cover It Up by spraying Grand Chalet (linden and mimosa) over top of it.
way to pivot!
I love your cover-up! And Linden twin today (courtesy of YOU, thank you!).
Oh, I love this theme!
I’m a bit of a broken record this summer, because I’ve stayed oddly committed to Jour d’Hermes. I mix it up by adding some other thing elsewhere, but Jour is usually in play. Wearing it again today and a bit of Aerin Hibiscus Palm from my rollerball. Very summery!
I like that bag, Robin. I really have to control myself when it comes to canvas bags. I have a couple, and do get some use out of them, but if I bought every one of them that I liked, we would be knee-deep in pretty and/or fun totes…
I have an obsession with canvas tote bags, too.
I’m in good company!
I love that bag, but I don’t use canvas bags really so I’m not tempted. Those little fold up grocery bags (Loqi, Baggu, etc)…those, I use and I’m a sucker for cute ones, I have WAY too many.
And I have an obsession with these too and I end up buying them for my sisters.
I’m off to my first WW meeting and weigh in. The good news is I already know the bad news on weight since I was just at doctor….
Wearing Idylle Love Blossom on this hot and humid day. I guess the theme is “feeling pretty when sweating.”
Brave! Hope it is a good experience at WW.
My doctor weigh-ins are so inaccurate it’s ridiculous. I don’t even try anymore. I did a few this winter with my 10 lb parka on and sometimes I don’t even set my (very large, very full) handbag aside.
Good luck to you!
Today I am sampling Panah Pink Champagne Truffle which is probably FB worthy. Chocolate, raspberry and rose. ? mmm ?
Also sampling Les Nereides Douceur de Vanille which is not FB worthy. Almondy baby powder to my nose.
I tried the Nereides at some point and it’s on the list of things I want more of. But it’s entirely possible that I was buying it for the almond, not the vanilla.
Pink Champagne Truffle sounds pretty dang good. Though chocolate doesn’t always work for me.
I read this too quickly the first time and thought you were eating pink champagne truffles. I thought, where did she get those?
On today’s version of blind buy: the good, the bad and the ugly, I’m in Aroma M Geisha O-Cha.
I can’t decide if this is for me or not. It starts out very green and herby, but my sniffer somehow interprets it as a little soapy. It changes to light green tea and some citrus after a half hour, and it’s the oil, so it wears close. Dunno. Kinda like it. May be up for a swap for this one.
That was probably the most realistic green tea perfume I’ve ever smelled and if I liked tea scents, this would be a contender!
Funny you say that…I was looking for reviews on this, and people were ga ga over it because it was so close to the real green tea! Good nose, girl.
Yeah, I love to drink tea, but not sure I want to smell like it, unless it also has a bunch of vanilla, spices, booze, amber…..this is a solid ‘like’, though. I’ve had way, WAY worse blind buys!
L’Artisan La Chassse aux Papillons
Starting the day in Eau Premiere, but will probably switch to Eau de Neutrogena Beach Defense later this afternoon. It actually does smell pretty good imo.
I’m spending the week at my parents house and the weather has been just perfect so far. The kids and I spent the afternoon at the beach yesterday soaking up the sun. My parents live literally out in the middle of nowhere and a mother deer and her twin fawns have been making themselves at home in their yard. My dad guesses they are about 10 days old and they are the cutest things with their spindly legs. They are hardly old enough to be afraid of people yet, they are more curious than anything.
It really is. They are so cute!
Awe.. I love Deer. Have a great visit!
Thanks lillyjo! I love deer too, and would much rather see them in the yard than bear.?
Wearing D’Orsay Tilleul which is in the “Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda” project. Really, I have very few perfume regrets and haven’t missed things I’ve given away or haven’t bought. EXCEPT this one which I had in my Parfum1 cart for a long time a few years ago, only to lose it, and it’s really hard to find anywhere except for a lot more occasionally on Ebay.
I’ll enjoy my swap decants and try not to hoard!
That sounds like a great cp. Hmmm, I’m sure I have at least one in that category.
I have some in that category too…. except I DON’T have them
Dzing! for my third L’artisan in a row. It’s turning into a bit of a project…
My favourite of all the Artisans, you smell wonderful.
In Commodity Velvet today, a purse spray I’d been neglecting for no particular reason. I’m enjoying it, but I suppose it’s good I’m not obsessed since it’s discontinued.
Wow, already? Wasn’t it just 2-3 years ago that Commodity came out with gobs of new perfume at Sephora?
IKR? And I got a sample of Velvet only like 6 months ago wirh a Sephora order.
Last I heard, Commodity is going out of business and ceasing operations: https://www.beautyindependent.com/fragrance-brand-commodity-shuttering/
You smell divine. One of my favorites.
After paying umpteen bucks for Commodity Velvet on the bay, Sephora manager told me that the brand is packaging differently or changing the bottle. Who knows? You just smell darn good.?
Commodity is defunct: https://www.beautyindependent.com/fragrance-brand-commodity-shuttering/
Good thing you got your bottle! I enjoyed it a lot today. If another bottle or purse spray comes my way at reasonable price, I’ll grab it.
I didn’t receive the greatest news from the dentist. One tooth can either be root canaled but they would have to do something with the bone to make a crown because I have a tooth next to it that needs to have a crown too. The reason is that the roots of one tooth is really short. Or I can have the tooth pulled. I don’t know what to do. Spent the morning cleaning and now it’s off to work while wearing CK One.
Ouch. Strength to you to make the right decision!
So sorry about the tooth, Dawn. Teeth are a lot of trouble.☹
Dawn, I totally sympathize with you. I wish you the best outcome.
Yikes! Tough decision. Good luck with whatever you choose.
SOTD = Tom Ford Lost Cherry
– luxury brand fragrance
– Red bottle
– Fruity name
– Lost and Still Lost ? or Lost and Found
WFH and I can stop at any time. I love being my own boss ? since my boss is on vacation (plus, he probably would have said “go home and enjoy the holiday” an hour ago).
Do you have any long holiday plans?
I’m working on Friday. I am working chez hajusuuri again and it will be a short day. Tomorrow, there’s a friends’ her-together to say goodbye to a couple who is moving to Florida!
I had the opportunity to sniff Lost Cherry out at K of P. I liked it, but I liked Cafe Rose a lot more.
1) I have too many canvas bags! I always keep some in my work purse and on my bike for shopping.
2) Am in BFT from Beauty Pie with Prim Body Oil. Yum.
3) Off to Hood River for the long weekend! Me, my camera and loads of books on the e reader!
Enjoy your long weekend!
I’m in Prada Infusion d’Homme today. Just perfect on a more crisp day when it’s 21*C outside. [I don’t miss the heatwave, obviously]
Nice. I don’t like heat either, twin!
I’ve only ordered from Scentbird once. Just grabbed Cannabis Santal and in trying to remember how to open it, I sprayed accidentally a few extra times. Then, I went to put it away and accidentally sprayed tons! Good thing I love the scent. Bad thing, My dog doesn’t.
some Assam later today. scheduled a massage for myself later.
want to make the most of these remaining days before going back to work.
I may go for a chair massage later. Welcome back!
There is nothing like a good massage- enjoy!
Today’s theme is “Donatella Knows” and I’m wearing my most recently acquired scent–current edition of Tom Ford Velvet Gardenia. It’s a little lighter and maybe slightly woodier than my original juice
I like the theme!
Thanks for reporting on the current version of Velvet Gardenia.
Continuing my untested sample week with Amouage Love Tuberose. I’m completely in love with it, but Amouage prices are obscene. A decant someday, once this sample is gone, maybe.
That one is the most buttery tuberose I’ve ever smelled. You smell wonderful.
I can NOT get over myself, it’s so good!!
Amouage shows up at discounters for a very good price but you may have to wait a while for this one. If you can’t wait, if you’re in the U.S., get on OsswaldNYC’s mailing list to get discount codes.
Continuing purgatoried samples today, and I think I must have been out of my mind the last time I tried Terre d’hermes. This stuff is wonderful! Maybe it was winter, or I had a cold, or my husband told me it was masculine? I don’t know, but it’s definitely coming out of purgatory.
To my nose, it is very masculine. I like to top it up with something orangey – Mandarine Basilic for example.
Nice tip! It does feel masculine and maybe not quite “me”, but it’s having the effect of making me want to have it around just to smell it whenever I want to.
Ha, I had almost the same experience with TdH. After wearing it once, I mentally filed it away as just fine. Came back to it 2-4 years later and really, really enjoyed wearing it. I’m definitely considering a small bottle after my sample is gone.
Oh, they come in the 15mL size! Maybe I’ll do a split in October or whenever Splitmeet happens.
I’m home, on a day that is more a warm spring day than a hot summer one. I’m wearing Divine and smell divine.
One of my favourites and yes you do!
Divine is gorgeous.
Diptyque Oyedo. After enjoying my sample long, long ago I finally found a decant (MaxAroma, Robin). I’m on the fence as to how I feel about it now that I can spray with abandon, but luckily the weird bits are holding my interest.
I wore Oyedo a lot for a couple of summers but ran out and didn’t replace it until last week. It’s been a few years and that aromatic/thyme a accord is headier than I recalled. The bright orange opening is fantastic, though.
Thank you! The weird bits really grow on you.
Theme: Winter scents in summer, so tried Fille en Aiguilles in the heat. I Think Jiji suggested this sometimes. Yes, it wears great in warm weather too. My bottle will get a lot more use….
I am waiting for Donatella, because i have to confess more than i thought i would have to….
That’s a great theme
You’re rather brave to try winter scents in the height of summer.
1969 on the left arm, Shangri La on the right–inspired by folks who mentioned, on the NST Damage Poll, that Shangri La didn’t work for them. I always thought they had similarities, and I had the same sort of trouble liking them at first–now I enjoy them both. So when I first applied them this AM they were totally different. But after an hour or so I can see why my scent memory linked them–humming peach with slightly masculine rose, tempered by spices— both, despite their names, feel classic/timeless/pre 1980s.
Less of a success was my most recent Scentbird acquisition, a decant of Juliette Has A Gun’s MMMM… I hate it so much that I canceled my subscription to Scentbird (yes, I do know that doesn’t exactly make sense!). So there.
Now I have to try 1969. I think I’m the only one who liked Mmmm, ever.
Please let me send you my MMMM decant! Ping me at ann dotty eisenberg attagirl comcast dotty net
I do things like this too!
I have MMMM from the JHAG discovery kit.
Now, I’m afraid to try it.
Let me know what you think when you sniff it. I love plenty of things that others cannot stand–so I may be a terrible predictor of your response to the perfume.
Case in point? Shangri La. It was not getting any love today on the damage poll… Oh well. ;-P
Canceling the Scentbird subscription due to hating MMMM… makes perfect sense to me. What if they send you something else that is just as heinous?
I agree. Even if I am the one who puts in in my queue. What if I put something else in my queue that is equally dissatisfying and they send it to me??? Golly.
I also hate MMMM… as I do half the JHAG scents. And I have a similar feeling about my Scentbird account: 8ml (or whatever) is a huge sample if you end up not liking the scent… so trying to order things I’ve already sampled or will definitely like. But how many do I need? Though it IS fun to get packages in the mail. Sigh.
As PL67 reported, it is hot and humid. I’m wearing Angel on the backs of my knees, just so I can match it with Joan Jetts ?Bad Reputation?
Haha! Did you see that there is a new EDT version?
I did! I will give it a sniff when I see it.
?Excellent! I love Joan Jett! She still totally rocks! She’s going to be in Milwaukee this fall and my husband and I have talked about going.
I saw Joan in Milwaukee many moons ago!
Most excellent perfume & song pairing! ??
Ha! Thank you!
Great one! ?
We’ve got a heat wave moving thru Atlanta, so I’m fighting back with D&G Light Blue Italian Zest. I sprayed 4 sprays this morning, and 7 hours in it’s finally fading completely away…..
SMELLY YOUTUBE ALERT: Has anyone else seen “Ami Loves Perfume”‘s newest video? My goodness, it’s the most relaxing thing in the universe to listen to her soft voice, describing the beautiful scents she has collected. Toward the end of her video she showed some Rogue Perfumery scents that were tempting enough for me to get on Etsy and buy the 3 pk of samples….. I’ll report in a few days how they smell!
Yes! I saw it. I had to break it into 3 parts. Please report back on your sample set, they sound very intriguing.
Anything to not write. So now wending its way to me is a sample pack of Flos Mortis, Champs Lunaires, and 40 Rogue. Oy
LOL! Awesome! I have Chypre Siam, Mousse Illuminee, and 40 Rogue coming soon to a mailbox near me…..
I mean, like, we gotta support small business, right? Right?
I’m really interested in the Chypre Siam!
? This thread was totally triggering. My sample set is now on its way, too…
Very triggering….I want the perfume bag Robin mentioned on Zazzle! Lol
Sticking to my theme of scents that work for a wonky stomach I’ve chosen L’Eau Chic today. It’s crisp uplifting and unique, and the stomach though still a wee wonky is doing reasonably well.
Glad the stomach is improving!
Day Three of Summer Scents I Forget To Wear is Virgin Island Water. It’s gray and overcast here and I wish I were on a Caribbean island.
I wish I was back in New England…it is sunny here but wee bit too humid.
I’m in the lingering scent of Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere shower gel. It was a well deserved, long over due shower and boy howdy, do I appreciate running hot water.
The internet in Canada bears no resemblance to the Internet it the US. It’s a whole new species, which costs a lot of money, which I don’t plan on buying. US peeps, you have no idea how good you have it in the Land of the Internet.?
I’ll something is wrong with IG todo day. Many posts show up with no picture except a reload symbol and the reload doesn’t work.
I thought it was just me, because I’m in the boonies.?
I don’t think it gets any boonier than where I’m at right now.??
Ha! I think you are right! I just watched your bear video and was glad to catch a glimpse of your van at the end. Please tell me you were inside!??
No, jalapeno said there was news about issues today!
Yes, I think that was part of the problem. Plus, you have to PAY for WiFi up here, and I’m not biting. Hence, I’m roaming on LTE with the lovely AT&T, who apparently partners with Canada Bell in this part of the world. My LTE is throttled so as to be almost useless. I called AT&T and the guy helped me reset my network settings, which seems to have helped.
Nice of the guy to help you!
There was a big story on tonight’s news about Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp not working today. They’ve been rather glitchy as of late.
Oy! I think earlier this year (March, I think) there was an outage too. I happened to be WFH that day and my plan to play hooky with IG was foiled!
Today I applied L’Artisan Cote d’Amour. Salt, citrus, pine, heavenly. I like it very much but it disappears in five minutes. Sad.
I’ve been browsing online for nice vegan salad recipes since that’s what I am taking to the 4th of July potluck tomorrow. I found some good-sounding ones and went shopping for all the ingredients. I’ll be making a chickpea salad that includes some onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and avocado. I hope it’s good. I used to take hot dogs, but times have changed. Our host has a rooftop deck from which we can see various fireworks displays all over town.
Can you post feedback on the dish? I eat fish, but I am trying to eat better than pretzels.
What perfumes would you compare the fragrance to? The notes sound up my alley.
Yes I’ll post feedback tomorrow after I’ve made the salad. I’m afraid I really don’t know another fragrance like this one. It’s distinctive due to the salty note, and I really do like that, but don’t know of anything similar.
I am bringing these for a 4th of July / going away party:
I saw them at the front of the store and thought they were a good idea for the party. I didn’t know it was a “thing”. The artificial sweetener label worries me though and because it is alcohol, the manufacturer is not required to disclose the proportion of the ingredients.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm. “Very interesting.”
Nice flavors! Enjoy!
Today I was wearing Kenzo l’Eau, the only typically 90’s scent that survived in my collection. I am still fond of this watery floral, 2 sorts of pepper scent and it fits my CP of perfumes to wear in hot weather.
Nice to have a flashback scent like that!
I’m surprised at how much I still enjoy it.
I don’t think any of my typical nineties scents survived. They never seemed feel like “me”, except of course for Gucci Envy. Kenzo has never really been sold around here, so I don’t know this one.
Oh Gucci Envy was fantastic. Maybe you were like me and mostly wore 80’s perfumes in the 90’s but I found l’Eau spicy aspect suited me in summer.
Kenzo used to release interesting scents but it is no longer the case I find.
Yeah, I’ve always been more attracted to the bigger, more “perfumey” perfumes. I remember when Angel came out, not liking it because it didn’t smell like perfume. Everyone around here was wearing Cool Water and Polo Sport, and I was Sun, Moon and Stars and Paloma Picasso.
Really grody amounts of humidity outside today. Yuck! So thankful for air conditioning… it keeps the worst of the muggy at bay.
SOTD = Imaginary Authors The Soft Lawn EdP, from the sample stash. No tennis ball for me, but a very realistic cucumber peel note starts this one. It would make a great shower gel.
Muggy and yuck – couldn’t agree with you more. Fall, come quick!
I enjoy heat, but humidity knocks me right out!
The humidity is crazy this year. Maybe I just forget during the winter, and it’s always this humid?
The humidity IS crazy right now! I checked online for current conditions late in the afternoon, and one site had humidity at 87%! Ack!
Commando in the late morning and early afternoon, as Mom and I were out and about. We made it to the grocery store where we usually get groceries and to Walmart. No glamour involved with those shopping trips, but we got food and I got my OTC allergy medicines. Spring allergies should be over, but it’s been raining so much that there’s a lot of mold and mildew outside. Which, of course, we’re allergic to.
In the later afternoon and evening, I wore SL Un Bois Vanille from a swapmeet decant. (Thank you, Koyel!) I really like it.
Have a good Fourth of July, those who celebrate it.
Boo hiss on the allergies! I’ve been sneezing more than usual this past week and wonder if there is something outside that is bothering me right now. I’m allergic to mold too. ?
It’s quite possible that there are still allergens out there bothering you. It’s been a bad, bad season for allergies.
Hope you have a good holiday, anyway!
Late evening: Experimenting with the Berdoues Grands Crus Collection discovery set of samples again. I tried Somei Yoshino, and I like that.
Chiming in with my SOTE, AG Neroli. I received 2 bottles gratis when I made some other purchases at one of my favorite perfume shops in Florida. It was a nice surprise, so I ended up giving one of the bottles to perfume loving co-worker.
Wishing everyone a Happy 4th tomorrow!
Wow! That’s some impressive customer service!
