Lancome Idole ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 2 July 2019 26 Comments

Lancôme will launch Idôle, a new fragrance for women, in August.

A new musky chypre floral fragrance, created by three female perfumers: Shyamala Maisondieu, Adriana Medina and Nadège Le Garlantezec. A sustainably sourced Isparta Rose Petal Essence from Turkey exclusively made for Lancôme, along with a Centifolia Rose grown in France, shine among notes of bergamot, accords of pear, India Jasmine Grandiflorum, and a new 'clean and glow' accord that is set to re-write the white page on which every woman starts her story.

Verdant and tender, fresh and voluptuous, Idôle is a fragrance which speaks volumes, and sparkles in light.

Crystallizing a new out-of-the-box vision of success – one that unites and transcends rather than separates beyond convention – the Idôle bottle, designed by architect and industrial designer, Chafik Gasmi, is the fitting tribute to the industry technical advances and innovations. The Idôle bottle being arguably one of the slimmest in the world at just 15mm thick.

Lancôme Idôle will be available in refillable bottles, in 25, 50 and 75 ml.

Yeah. But bottle is very cool, truly like a flask from the side view. Interested to see the 30 ml, and to see if these will stand up on their own.

It is nice they’re doing a 25 ml refillable….. But agree….we used to joke about who wrote the Letters to Penthouse. Now it’s ad copy for perfume launches. So over the top.

I probably should have made the statement above more general…I know the bottles are refillable and they will have fountains, like Mugler etc, but I don’t know that each size is refillable.

Yeah. Likely not. That should have been two statements by me. Nice that they do the smaller size. And nice that they do refillable (probably in the larger sizes…)

I kinda feel bad for the SAs. These bottles will constantly be falling over and possibly breaking.

Oh, if they don’t stand up I’m sure there will be holders of some sort.

The annual Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest, where ‘www’ means ‘wretched writers welcome’ has entries which sound like Shakespeare compared to this drivel.

    Rewrite?! Yes please Lancôme.

Hahaha! Steve Shuster, a Toronto comedian, was great at changing song lyrics into ad jingles, my favourite being “I know it’s only Mop and Glo but I like it!” I can never unhear this! Coincidentally the Stones were just here in concert last Saturday… they probably sang their version!

Literally the first thing I thought was, “The only Idôle is Lubin. EVER.”

I mean, maybe this is great. But still. Lubin.

I think the way they’ve skirted around that is by arguing that its full name is Lancôme Idôle, as opposed to simply Idôle.

Is Idole d’Armani still around? I had to check when it was released – 2009, which these days is an eternity in terms of perfume releases. Or what about Lubin Idole? Couldn’t they have come up with a more original name?

The bottle sounds like a crash waiting to happen, and pear + « clean and glow accord » sounds scary. Will continue to give the Lancome counter a wide berth (La Vie est Belle makes me stay far away).

I must smell LVeB on at least a dozen women every day. It’s everywhere in France, unfortunately.

With all the wonderful scents that are available in a country known for fragrances, and THAT’S what you’re smelling on a daily basis… ???
