Happy Hump Day and happy Chocolate Pudding Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: still at the lake, still in Cutter Lemon Eucalyptus.
Reminder: 6/28 will be Time Travel Friday...wear a perfume that takes you back in time, or reminds you of something / somewhere in your past. It does not have to be a perfume you wore in the past! Suggested by chocolatemarzipan8.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Robin, I’m in your patented Eau des Merveilles/Eau Claire des Merveilles layering today so you’re vicariously scented in something other than Cutter’s. Hope you’re having a wonderful time!
I just had mocha chocolate chip ice cream for lunch, so it must be a good day
I’ll say! Yum!
You smell wonderful.
Thanks Kelly! How are you liking Nirvana Rose?
I really love Nirvana Rose. I think it’s my favorite of the line. It’s very well done for a “celebrity” scent. It’s got a good bit of vetiver which I love. It’s an easy go-to for me. I have a little roller ball travel size but I’d love the full bottle (I really like those Nirvana bottles)!
I am not into EL fragrances but I am sampling Azuree from the freebiemeet. Holds up very nicely in the heat and it’s gorgeous. Does anyone know of a shower gel or lotion that smells similar? I would love to bath in it, but not literally
I sometimes buy vintage Azuree bath oil on ebay, it is very wonderful.
That sounds wonderful, but I don’t have a “real bath” to soak in
Azuree came in a bath oil? Ohhhhh. My no-buy may be broken if I can find some.
Running off to fleabay.
In other “non perfume” related news, I decided to take a sabbatical from facebook. It felt good to deactivate my account. I told myself it will just be for the summer. I have never “left” social media since I signed up when FB first came into fruition. However, I do have a insta feed, and I enjoy that much more. Especially following photos of the Marriage Freres tea houses. I am wondering if taking this break if I will ever go back.
Good for you! I’ve never had, and never plan to have a fb account. I also have insta, and that seems to be more my speed. I have friends and family pressuring me all the time “you have to get on Facebook!” Um, no actually I don’t, social media is not mandatory.?
I meditated on it for a bit and then pulled the plug.
You are right, not mandatory.
Yes! “Social media is not mandatory.” This!!!
*fist bumps* I don’t have social media either!
I have a couple of friends who wonder why I don’t use Facebook, but it didn’t seem like a good communication medium for me. I prefer e-mail or chat. (Or commenting on blogs.)
I tried Tumblr, but didn’t really get the rules for replying. Also, I like to communicate in paragraphs at a time. (Many of you may have noticed this. lol)
Some Millennials I know avoid talking to most people on the phone, and will only text. One I know had hurt feelings from what I thought was a reasonable statement, and didn’t tell me until a later text conversation that her feelings were hurt by my statement. At least in a phone call I would have heard her tone of voice. Oh, well.
I wasn’t of the age where I grew up texting. I didn’t get a cell phone until I was 30 or so. My texting is very slow. It’s easier for me to talk on the phone.
I took “keyboarding” in high school — what had until a year or so previously been a typing class. I was very slow at the time, but have sped up with lots of practice. I’m good with typing on a full-sized keyboard.
idk. I guess it had to do with the timing of when certain social media came out and where I was with technology at the time.
I admire you for doing it, as I know I waste far too much time on it, and also it now makes me alternately angry and depressed much of the time (just reading the news items people share). On the other hand, I do stay in touch with many people on there in a way that would be otherwise difficult, and I enjoy all of the cat photos and videos, ha ha!
For me I had to define what it meant to stay in touch. Thats what I meditated on. I was sort of “waiting” for friends to update their status, instead of actively seeking if they had any plans going on, or even how they are doing. It was very passive and someone lazy on my part. I also thought a lot about human connection and what that means to me. These are the sort of things I had to ponder on my side.
I don’t have any social media, and frankly very few people contact me to stay in touch and vice versa. I think it’s great all the thought you gave to your decision.
You have your fellow fume heads on this blog.
I have finally come to understand that what currently works for me is personal interaction. It took me a long time to get to this point, and particularly so since sometimes that stance can be construed as opting out of relating. I was lucky enough to have a social media friend who decided she could not participate in our friendship any longer, and at that point I reflected upon my own needs aside from what I wanted to give. I understand that some people are happy keeping it casual, but ultimately I need to honor myself and what is meaningful to me. I feel that those who are committed to loving and supporting you will always be there, always show up, and if you’re not on fb or any other social media then you still have your tribe.
It’s mixed for me, too, and in the same ways. I’ve been limiting it really to following special interest groups, mostly. Most of my in-person ukulele activities have come from FB and I probably never would have found them otherwise.
And kitties ?
I went off FB during the 2016 presidential election and never looked/went back. ??
That was definitely a rough time on FB!
I went off FB when I was writing my dissertation and it’s been five glorious years of saved time – increasingly spent on perfume blogs ?
I initially joined Facebook to try to keep up with my adult children. They are not on there anymore but I still am…..
I admire your decision to pull the plug on FB. If I were to pull the plug on a social media acct it would probably be Instagram since that is pure voyeurism for me and not much beyond that. But I agree about the getting socially lazy. I also had a really weird exchange with someone who I hung out with regularly over a decade ago (but haven’t seen in years) and ran into recently. I asked her how she’s been and she told me about a slew of serious health issues she had recently and didn’t I know because she posted all about it on FB?! I almost detected a hint of judgement or annoyance in her voice, like there’s an expectation that we should all be on there following and kept up-to-date and providing well-wishes and support.
Wow, guilt over social media. That’s crazy.
I’ve never used social media. It’s not my thing.
You’re wise. It’s a whole new set of stressors you don’t need.
Diptyque Eau de Lierre. A nice, no-brainer woody, fresh, pale green scent for the first heat wave we are facing!
Pretty and refreshing!
I’ll have to dig out my sample of that one. It seems like I liked it, and it was very easy to wear. A sleeper.
Try to stay cool and hydrated today, my friend! ?
Thank you Nancy! Summer finally arrived with all its strength! ???.
Eau de Lierre is definitely easy to wear, office friendly and good for very hot days. I think I might eventually get a full bottle.
Ooh I like that one – fresh and green. Good pick!
Thank you! I like a lot too!
We are supposed to get a heat wave this weekend too, and although I’m not complaining, I wait so long to live with the windows open and hate to shut them to turn the air on. Stay cool!
I don’t think I have my windows open for more than 3 weeks. So frustrating! I was enjoying the fresh air a lot. Now, until the end of September again…
You too stay fresh and hydrated!
I learned when I moved to the East Coast that I couldn’t keep windows open at night. I developed a sore throat that got better as the day wore on. Turns out I’m allergic to something outside year-round.
You smell great!
Thank you! You too smell wonderful in Fille en Aiguilles! ?
Sounds perfect for today. It’s hot! But at least not too humid. Stay cool!!
It is not so bad outside and I am enjoying the heat for now. Let’s see for how long…
That sounds nice! Hope you’re able to stay cool.
It is a nice scent!
Even though we reach 90 degrees it doesn’t feel oppressive yet. At least, I spent the day indoors!
No-brainer scents are exactly what this kind of weather calls for! ??
SOTD is Sylvaine Delacourte Virgile. A lovely fresh herbal vanilla.
I really like that one! My SD faves are the musks (Toscana and Lillylang)
Scent twins! Thank you for reminding me of it. We both smell nice.
You smell wonderful.
That was my favorite of her vanillas.
It was my favorite too although Vangelis came a close second
I’m wearing my second favorite of the Hermes Jardin scents, Le Jardin de Monsieur Li.
I like that one too. You smell nice.
That one is very pretty. What’s your first favorite?
Sur la toit.
Light and lemony today in Monsieur Balmain.
Today is a good day for light and lemony!
After a very early (like pre-dawn) spritz of Mugler Cologne, I went digging around my perfume drawer for summer frags I’d overlooked and found L de Lolita. I’ve had this for ages but never really worn it. The opening is as salty as can be! We’ll see how the drydown goes… but so far – yum!
I’m wearing it with a shirt that remains laced with some perfume I wore at some point that absolutely will not wash out. I have no idea what it was, but it smells like something vintage – a genre I can no longer wear as my olfactory system’s gone haywire and they all smell the same – like wet dog or being smothered by a cat. Whatever it was, it seems to be here to stay :/
You smell great in Mugler!
Have you tried soaking the shirt in white vinegar, or using detergents made for workout clothes? That might help.
Long time, no see kpaint!? I almost mentioned you yesterday because I wore California Reverie from a swapmeet decant I got from you.? I hope you are doing well and that the Midwest winter was not too terrible.
Good to see you!
Hey there! Nice to see you ?
Hi! L is so good in the summer, enjoy
Good to see you, kpaint! ?
I didn’t get a chance to say hi yesterday, but it’s nice to see you here, kpaint!
I’m in Chanel Eau de Cologne. The doc prescribed Flonase for my allergies, and it’s helping, but all I can smell is the nose spray for the first hour or so after I use it. Very relieved that health care won’t get in the way of sniffing. ? The EdC smells exactly as it should.
Thanks everyone, for the well wishes on Monday about my health woes. I went back to the doc yesterday for a shot of prednisone, so I’m much improved today, thank goodness.
Weather wise, another fairly cool, overcast day today in Houston! Yay!
Glad you are feeling better! Double ear infection- yuck! Prednisone can often work wonders.
It has worked wonders! I’m close to being back to my old self today. ?
Eww. Sorry about the ailments. Flonase smells like lilacs! There’s another steroid nasal spray that has no scent. Can’t remember which because I bought the wrong one this last time ?
Really? Lilacs? I just sniffed the bottle, and it is kinda floral smelling. Lilacs don’t grow down here, so I have no clue what a lilac smells like.
It smells very similar to Pacifica French Lilac to me. I do wonder if/why they scent that stuff, though.
Glad to hear you are improved! You smell so good.
Thanks KellyC! I hope you’re having fun with the visiting kiddos. ?
I’m sorry, I misread your post below. Have fun *when* your kiddos hit town!
Glad you’re feeling better! Ear infections are horrible. Good luck with the Flonase. I don’t want to freak you out or anything, but I’ve tried the generic fluticasone, which gave me nosebleeds. The brand name flonase gave me bronchitis.
That’s good to know. I’m on the generic; this is my second time in several years that I’ve tried to use seems to make m cough a lot, and I have issues with that already… ?
Hurray for feeling better! ?
Ear infections are so painful, glad you went to the doctor’s and that the meds made you better.
Glad you’re feeling better.
Essential Parfums Nice Bergamot. It is keeping me cool in this heat !
Ok, does that live up to the Luckyscent description, including drying down to ” a natural tonka bean extract from Venezuela that smells like a golden cream of hay, almonds, and espresso with a shot of milk”? Because $20 for a 10 ml travel spray of anything by Antoine Maisondieu is tempting!
I want to hear the answer to this too!
Holy cannoli – that Luckyscent description sounds wonderful.
I get a lot of ylang, tonka and bergamot. I am not an expert, but maybe I am getting some hay a few hours later.
I also get the “shot of milk” thing. Its the same note I get when I wear Lancome Oranges Bigarades. More of a tea scent with a shot of milk, than espresso.
It is a really pretty fragrance that works well with my skin. I bought the small bottle, used it, and then ended up buying the larger bottle.
Did you try others in this line? Indigo carries their discovery set and their price point is so accessible
Their Mon Vetiver and Nice Bergamot are my two favorites from sampling with Rose Magnetic in third.
Thank you Barqs!
White Linen parfum, redux
Green aldehydic floral with a powdery drydown
Thanks lillyjo, SmokeyToes, Lovestosmellgood, Petunia
You smell great bear
? ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ?️♀️
You smell awesome Bear!
I knew it was vintage! Lucky you ?
Smart getting that bottle when you did, Bear.
Wow, you smell fantastic!
You smell wonderful Bear!
When I read Cutters Lemon Eucalyptus a few days ago, I thought “interesting, I am going to have to check that out”. Now I get it. Have a great vacation!
Ha, but indeed, it smells just like lemon eucalyptus! Still, it is quite clear that I am wearing bug spray ???
Day two: Tauer Wowilla oil + Cap Neroli.
About to make myself a cup of Rishi Turmeric Ginger tea.
And I am drinking a blend of Traditional Medicinals Green Tea with Lemongrass and Pukka Three Mint ?
Matches the bug spray ?
I like that 3 mint tea
Yes it does!
Wowilla is so yummy!
I am wearing Fille en Aiguilles,
one of my all time favourites!
I think I mentioned it here before, but it reminds me of summer vacation in France in the Medoc region.
Sun on pine trees, small catholic churches (incense) and bold red wines.
The Goddess (or God?) of Sale is on my side this week
So I was in the perfume store today. I was not really looking to purchase, just wanted to try Un jardin apres la mousson.
Because I really like it but I dont have it. So I was at the Hermès section and I could not find it. Bummer….
Then I saw a table with stuff that said SALE SALE 30-50-70% off….and YESS there it was: ONE bottel of 50 ml for only 40 euro. Needless to say I could not leave it there
And earlier this week I also found a ba&sh top I had been eyeing for a long time but sold out in my size when sale started. And now it was there: my size, for half of the regular price. I reallyt like that brand but its quite expensive.
Goddess on your side… smelling and looking good!
Enjoy your new purchases! ?
You’d better run out and buy a lottery ticket fast!
Never thought of wearing it in a heatwave. Must try this?
Congrats on you shopping score!
I love Fille en Aiguilles, minus the dried fruit notes, I find it’s similar to L’ Eau Trois by Diptyque, both are wonderful in the heat!
I need to try L’eau trois again! I remember liking it…a lot.. and then kinda forgot about it….
Awesome shopping score!
The Force has been with you this week for sure! Nice finds!
Un Jardin Sur le Nil. It’s gonna be too hot for much else this week.
Seems to be hot many places right now! You will be smelling lovely.
yup, heatwave in northwest of Europe as well.
Yesterday I attended a training and I saw quite a lot of tired, sleep deprived faces.
Our houses dont have airco. And there are still offices and schools with no (or sub par) climate control systems/airconditioning.
There even was a school in my region where they sent the children home after 12:00.
Yikes! Now I really will not complain when I have to close the windows and turn on the AC. I’ll consider myself lucky just to have it! We always get reminders on the news to check on the elderly when it’s this hot because not everyone has it.
Agree! Blessed be our AC! ??
Hermes jardin series is making a strong showing on NST
Well I could use a real garden as well in this heat haha (appartement dweller here).
For me the jardins are perfect for the combo: office / professional environment + hot weather.
I am sure!
Child perfume oil from a sample. I don’t know if there’s a “right” way to apply perfume oil, but I usually add a few drops to my body lotion after I get out of the shower and apply it to my arms and legs.
The “kids” and I plan to go see Toy Story 4 either today or tomorrow. My oldest was born a year after the first one came out and it’s been 9 years since TS3 came out. We went to see that one on my middle child’s tenth birthday. She is in college now.? Time flies. We are going more for the tradition of it and I’m glad I could twist all their arms into going.
It kind of blows my mind that it’s already been 9 years since the last one. It feels like just yesterday I was just sitting on the couch at my friend’s house watching TS3…except that I was a freshman in college and that definitely wasn’t yesterday!
It kind of blows my mind too. My youngest was 4 at the time and got a little frightened during a couple of scenes. She’s 13 now, so I think this time we’re good.? I’ll be curious how it holds up. TS2 has always been my favorite, I love Jessie/Joan Cusack!
Totalyl understand the tradition of it. I was in preschool when the first one came out, and Toy Story 3 came out the summer before senior year. It was a unique experience, having this story we’ve known longer than we can really remember get revived to address very 18-year-old fears of letting go/new beginnings and whatnot. People my age had such a connection to it that we made a school dance Toy Story themed.
I’m gonna go to the new one today, too. Hope it’s good!
It really is unique, isn’t it, that it’s spanned so many years? I wonder if this will be the last one. I’m so glad to see all the characters back. I even read a story that they reached out to Don Rickles’ family to use his voice.☺️ It wouldn’t be the same without mr. potato head! I hope it’s good.
I don’t know! I wasn’t sure about this one – why run the risk of ruining a perfect trilogy almost 10 years after the fact? – but the reviews have been glowing, so maybe they’ll want to keep it up. My HOPE is that if they do more, they’ll keep the sequels spread out instead of getting greedy. Makes it feel less special if they do a new one every other year.
1) stayed up late reading and as a result slept inl- over 2 hours!
2) Am in Amelie Mae over Kai shower gel. I smell extremely flowery.
The late night reading is something I am guilty of!
Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief! Amazon had a HUGE deal with the e books so I bought the series!
I read that years ago, when my son was reading it! Fun series.
Oh, I meant to read those and forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder.
Chocolate pudding? Not in 37*C…
I’m wearing Atelier Cologne Pomelo Paradis.
I do not think there is a weather where I will not eat chocolate pudding!
Agreed. It’s chocolate, after all.
I enjoy chocolate pudding in all weathers. Fresh out of the refrigerator pudding is refreshing, I think. Then again, there are many times year round when I crave chocolate. lol
In Desarmant from a fellow-NSTer. Turned out to be a perfect choice for today. Still cool this AM, but its going to get warm–a little like this perfume!
That’s a beautiful one.
I’m in the leftovers of of Naja, while waiting for an oil change in Okotoks.
To all the Canadians that read this blog, I just wanted to say my hats off to you! The road system, infrastructure, and general road maintenance is fantastic. Some of the coldest weather up here, and there are no potholes, few cracks, in general smooth and a pleasure to drive. Great roadside signage and did I mention CLEAN?! I haven’t seen a scrap of garbage anywhere I’ve been so far. Highways and byways are immaculate. Frequent turnouts with GARBAGE CANS!! Amazing! Genuinely nice people, very helpful and friendly. I may move here! It’s been a true delight ??
Don’t come to Quebec – we have horrible roads (mafia corruption in the construction industry).
Ok, I’ll keep that in mind! As for Alberta, I think I’m in love. ???
And their prime minister is easy on the eyes
What, you think he’s better looking than The Donald? ??
Awww… How sweet! You would be most welcome Deva! I’m from Nova Scotia but I currently live in Toronto and plan to eventually return east. I’d recommended visiting the Maritime provinces and Newfoundland if you ever make it out this way! Enjoy!
I’m glad you are enjoying your trip so far! Alberta is a great place to spend time. My hubby has lots of family from the Edmonton area.
My SOTM is one of the rose soliflores that came in the Luckyscent sample pack I just ordered about a week ago. This one is my favourite so far of the batch of four: Les Imerdodables Rose de Jamal. Wow is it gorgeous. It’s like the most pure and fresh rose you’ve ever smelled. According to Luckyscent it’s a special Moroccan rose and the formula includes an unusual Moroccan mint in it, too, the “Naneh” mint. It’s refreshing and doesn’t have the sour aspect that rose scents can sometimes develop.
In other news I’ve been binge-watching the “Welsh Noir” BBC series “Hinterland” on Netflix and was up until 2 last night finishing an episode. It’s VERY bleak and slow and will not be everyone’s cup of tea but I’m loving it. The scenery is fantastic and I’ve been to parts of Wales several times so love seeing it on screen.
This sounds like my cup of tea. Have you seen Bleak House with Gillian Anderson? It’s lovely, the script and acting is wonderful.
Yes, I have! She’s fabulous in it!
Hinterland is indeed dark, maybe about as dark as I am willing to go — or maybe even just a bit over that line. Ditto with Shetland, which is getting a bit darker every season. Both are so well done though!
I haven’t tried Shetland yet, but I think it’ll be next on my list.
It’s a bit easier going than Hinterland, but this seems to be a common pattern in mystery series these days…they keep having to up the ante. But in terms of of violence / dark subject matter, Shetland is somewhere in between Hinterland and Vera, maybe?
Oh, I love watching Vera!!
She is so interesting as a lead character, with her fierceness and solitude.
I love Shetland, but agree – it’s about as dark as I want to see. I find the ever increasing graphic nature of – well, just about everything – unsettling.
With that said, I and a friend have begun planning a Scotland trip for next summer!
Yes, the last season of Shetland was especially disturbing, and I found it unbingeable — I watched most of the episodes in 20 minute increments.
It is just as well that Hinterland does shorter series, and less often than Shetland.
Shetland is that nice middle ground of entertaining and dark. The one that disturbed me was Marcella. Just one season of it, and it left a bad taste.
Oh, good to know…I will avoid Marcella!
Ooh that sounds good – adding to the Watch-list
Whoa, a lemming has been born. That discovery set looks very tempting.
The rose perfumes sound wonderful! ?
Have to leave shortly for a doctor’s appointment and I don’t want to go but can’t cancel it again. Woke up wearing Mitsouko and about to switch to Theorema. I didn’t get to Malley’s Chocolates yesterday and those Nutella M&M’s aren’t very good.
Good luck with the appointment!
That’ll be me tomorrow.
Good luck at the doctor! I love it when I wake up smelling like Mitsouko.
I hope that your doctor’s appointment went well today.
SOTD (and happy hump day) is vintage Estee Lauder’s Estee. Loads of aldehydes and powder – I get orris, iris, carnation, tuberose, oakmoss, and lilac from this beauty.
House twins, I am in Azuree
Estee is my mother in laws signature scent, she also wears the vintage
I also remember trying that one and I liked it a lot. Have you smelled the current version?
I have tried the current version, it’s not bad at all! I think that one, Knowing, and Azuree all survived reformulations quite well.
Aliage is another matter. I prefer the vintage to current.
I’m wearing Monsoon by Dame Perfumery. I smell great in a mellow, spa-like kind of way. It oddly reminds me of a cross between Andree Putman L’Original and Dzing!, and I am all for it.
I like Monsoon a lot! You smell so good.
That’s an interesting one. I like the creosote note. You smell great today!
Hot and humid, I am relaxing under the AC in a luxurious dose of Cuir Cannage. So thankful for AC!
Seconding your thanks for AC!
In Coromandel as I gear up to mail the last of the split. I’m so grateful for NSTers for being the best enablers of perfume passion!
Lovely! I actually prefer Coromandel during summer. I get that cola note.
It’s doing really well in the heat
So how hot is it getting for you guys in the heatwave? It’s staying mid 80’s for me for the next week, and after today mostly cloudy. Today is very nice. My air conditioning is still out, so I’m thankful that I haven’t missed it yet. My Sotd is Shalimar Souffle.
We’re supposed to have similar temps tomorrow and Friday, but it’s been nice today. I live in a 1920s-era apartment building with no a/c, so I’ve been leaving the windows open overnight and closing up the windows and curtains during the day. That and running the ceiling fans near-constantly keeps it not-too-uncomfortable inside. Luckily I have a/c at work though!
We just got 2 more fans, they are helping.
Upper 80’s feeling in the 90’s. No rain in the horizon! I will start running the AC tonight just for a couple of hours and then the fans. I am already freezing at work, so I have no intention to feel 24/7 that winter came back! ??
It’s crazy, because you don’t know how to dress with work AC. Plus you go in and out so much.
I think that the high temp today was 90. Not bad for almost July. However, I saw a couple of possible 95’s in the forecast. Naturally, those days are supposed to be the most humid ones, too. Bleah.
It really is the humidity that is the worst. 95 though, is definitely to hot!
I hope your AC is restored soon!
Thanks. It won’t be though, the whole unit needs to be replaced. It’s ancient. I was going to try and do it this year, but I had to unexpectedly get a refrigerator. Plus it’s still the year of the dentist.
I left the house without perfume earlier ? but had a sample of Jour d’Hermes Absolu in my bag so spritzed that on. It’s hot, but blue and sunny and not too humid.
Thanks for the kitty well-wishes yesterday! Her bloodwork was all good. He thinks maybe she has either mild asthma or something new is causing airway irritation. She’s been running around like a loon today and doesn’t seem the least bit concerned herself. He recommended coming back for a chest xray, but we decided to watch and wait for now. She hasn’t wheezed once since she went to the vet yesterday ?
Tonight’s agenda is getting peer-pressured into taking a samba workshop at Alvin Ailey. It’s open level but my only experience at Alvin Ailey was in the 90s taking a “beginners” contemporary dance class which was basically used as an exercise class for professional dancers. Needless to say, I sat out most of the class :/
Glad the kitty is doing ok!
Alvin Ailey makes me think of Madonna. Have a good time!
Ha! Maybe she’ll be there. And thank you! I hope it’s just a flukey thing.
Good to hear that your cat’s bloodwork came back OK! Pet health issues are a difficult mystery to unravel sometimes. ?
Glad your kitty’s tests came back ok. We feel so helpless when they can’t tell us what’s wrong!
Very happy for the cat good news, Elisa and you smell great in Jour d’Hermes Absolu, I especially enjoy the grapefruit in the opening.
It’s very dark in the mornings right now, it’s very hard to get out of bed. Contemplating what perfume to wear does help
I’ve decided on Fate today, and hoping I don’t suffocate my colleagues.
You smell wonderful!
Fate is gorgeous.
Diptyque Ofresia for me today, which I bought at the sale they have each year. I swear I only bought because I felt I needed to buy something… rarely wear it. The dry down seems to have a bit of mintiness that I’m enjoying (when I shove my forearm into my nose…not exactly long lasting…)
Diptyques are hit and miss for me too.
Same. The ones I like, I really like. The ones I don’t like are epic-level scrubbers.
Started out the day in Costarela- a great summer scent to me- but it wore off by the time I worked out on my lunch break, so post workout shower am in Nirvana Rose.
My son and his girlfriend arrive late tonight! So excited!!!
Have an awesome visit!
Thanks, I’m super excited!
Enjoy the time with your son and his girlfriend!
Enjoy your visit!
It is officially summer in the Bluegrass. Hot, muggy, and buggy. Perfect day for Eau de Merveilles Bleue.
Rereading one of my favorite summertime books, Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury.
Hot, muggy, and buggy reminds me of Alabama!
I’ve got Dandelion Wine on deck to read next, and it will be my first time reading it! Maybe we can chat about it after I finish it.
Odeur 53, because someone wore it yesterday. Now wearing Montale White Musk for bed, be cause it smells like starched sheets.
Another crazy day at work (just lots going on, no coworker issues today). Wearing Lolita Lempicka Forbidden Flower.
My work is awful this time here to hang in there
Another hot and humid day here, and officially Day 1 of the heatwave. Yesterday’s temp didn’t quite make it into the 90s.
Spoiler alert: This is a bummer of a paragraph. Spooky kitty has just had a bout of vomiting. Poor thing, It’s part of her IBD issues. It hadn’t been happening for a while after we switched her wet food, but the first time it did occur, it was like a punch to the gut for me. A reminder that her situation will not be easily or quickly resolved.
SOTD = back in AG Ninfeo Mio.
Poor kitty – sending healing vibes.
Thank you cazaubon!
Oh no! Hope she feels better soon!
I’ve talked to a couple of friends who have dealt with this situation with their own cats. The consensus is: no easy answers.
Poor Spooky kitty!, do you think the heat makes the condition worse?
I haven’t noticed any correlation with weather and how Spooky is feeling on any given day. It’s frustrating.
Poor Spooky and you! I can imagine the disappointment ? I hope it’s just a one-off thing. Is it IBD or IBS? Both are challenging but IBD, especially so (as a human who suffered from it).
The vet is fairly sure that it is IBD. Spooky has been having issues at both ends, so to speak. I’m glad that she hasn’t had any bouts of explosive diarrhea lately. (Yeah, really gross.)
So sorry to hear about spooky kitty. Did the vet offer anything to help?
Actually, yes. Right now, Spooky is on prescription cat food, and an antibiotic to calm down the inflammation of the DI tract. Of course, she hates taking the medicine.
Gah! That should be “GI” tract, not DI!
That’s a good sign, I hope. Every cat will vomit periodically and I hope it was just one of those cat moments and not a flare-up.
Sending love to spooky kitty and her parents.
Awwww. I feel so bad for Spooky Kitty. I hope you can get some answers soon.
Thank you Gail!
So sorry you worry about your furry friend, hoping it was just normal vomiting, not the IBD flaring up.
I am in a few drops of D & G Sicily from a tiny bottle that has only a little bit left in it. This is the original Sicily and not the Velvet one, which oddly enough, I haven’t sniffed, so I can’t compare.
You smell divine!
SOTD = Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche EDP
6 sprays, 6 hours. Going to op it to 8 or 10 sprays which I bet will last all day. You pretty much can’t OD or aphyxiate unless you spray into your nose which I know you won’t do. I would consider this a woody pudding. Lemon vanilla vetiver and sandalwood. Very smooth, lightly creamy.
I’m on the way home from having dinner with former co-workers. It was delightful to catch up! The daughter of one of them is in the bridal party of a destination wedding to the Dominican Republic, scheduled for the end of July. Given what’s going out there with people getting sick and dying, don’t you think the responsible thing for the bride to do is to change the venue?
Correction – the 6 sprays is actually still present, now that I am back in AC. I think 8 sprays may be enough!
Yup, that would be the sensible thing to do. I’m curious about your Cent of the day This makes me laugh
I’ll gift you a decant. Have you tried Dior Homme (I think J have the EDP but I am too lazy to go look right now).
I haven’t tried Dior Homme either. I’ve always been curious a out it but have been distracted by shiny things!
Oooooh. The end of July is not that far off, is it? Might be too late to change things, even if the bride wanted to.
That may very well be the case but if I were a guest or part of the bridal party I would back out. The cause remains a mystery and at least alcohol is part of the equation.
I wouldn’t want to go there right now, that’s for sure. And I also heard about the alcohol thing, too.
I hope she changes it. Or that the daughter doesn’t go.
I think it would be that the daughter should back out. She won’t listen to her mother (my former co-worker) but she thinks of the dad said something, she will listen.
I just saw a show about all the trouble down there. Drinking seems to be part of the equation; also possibly use of pesticides. It is horrifying as it’s a lovely place to vacation. I’ve been there twice and now definitely would hesitate about going.
My cousin was in a bridal party in the DR in May. She got violently ill as did another guest. My cousin recovered. The other guest ended up in the ER there, and has continued to have some issues since she’s been back.
This was before I’d heard anything. It’s been creepy since, seeing articles and reading stories of people who did not fare so well.
If she doesn’t back out, not even sure what precautions you could take. Is just avoiding alcohol enough? Who knows. Scary.
Another late post for me. SOTD Was or demand ojha ? or Eau de Magnolia. Gotta love talk to text
Can’t even blame autocorrect for the talk to text word salad. ?
Ha! Word salad is a perfect way to think of it. I can’t type on the Max Trainer… best I can do but it’s kinda fun anyway.
I loved Zoologist Perfumes Bat the very first time I smelled it. I have am almost finished sample and another almost full sample. Imagine my dismay to discover that it is being discontinued. Apparently there is some problem consistently sourcing one or more ingredients and this has led to the decision to not make it anymore. I instantly ordered a bottle from LuckyScent and then received the out of stock message but that they thought they could fill it in the next week. Oh despair, too late, or so I thought. Got confirmation today that it is on the way!
I have an……
Yay! Glad you were able to get it.
BeYond frustrated..ordered four times from fnet and they cancelled all the items saying they were outta stock. After I paid..then after I cancel..relist items for sale. I think I am done with them. Last bottle I got from the smelled like chit anyway…as it turned.
I’ve noticed some ridiculous price hikes in the last few weeks.
It’s ridiculous that they wanna cancel several items after I paid…then they relist them. They take items off..put them back on..you don’t know what’s in stock and what isn’t. ***Frustrating***?
Adding.. the pictures they use can be a bit misleading. Last couple times I ordered, I thought i was getting older stock or vintage (based on the photos and size of bottle I was ordering). Both times it was a more recent version. Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed because I also had to pay for shipping and customs to Canada.
I haven’t had anything cancelled though, luckily. That would make me crazy!
They have been terrible lately.
Late post. Today was Kate Spade Live Colorfully, a cheap blind buy at Marshall’s (I think) that I’ve semi-regretted as I’ve only just worn it (properly, all day) for the first time today. But I really enjoyed it today, so—all’s well that ends well.
Went commando much of the day Wednesday, then got the AERIN travel-size perfumes I’d ordered. I tried Linen Rose first, and liked that pretty well. (That was the blind buy.) After a shower, I tried Lilac Path, which I also liked. I’d sniffed it on a card on Saturday, but I’d sniffed several dozen perfumes before that, so it was kind of hard to tell.
The Lilac Path seemed to wear off after a while. I sprayed on Pacifica French Lilac before bedtime. I thought it was a rather different sort of lilac perfume, but also nice. If you haven’t found a bottle of the French Lilac yet, Jalapeno, we could meet up somewhere again and I’ll share.
