Happy Almost-Friday! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in L'Artisan Parfumer Timbuktu, which I had not worn in ages. Wow, this stuff is good.
Reminder: on 6/14, we're doing the picture challenge, edition 4, part 2 (you can find part 1 here). Wear a perfume that matches the picture, which is Georgia O'Keeffe's Blue and Green Music. You can find snippets about this painting here and here.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Aramis Perfume Calligraphy Saffron
Well ?, we are almost scent twins!
You smell great, what do you think of that one?
On this rainy day everything is coming up roses:
Rose d’himalaya tea
Rose calligraphy from a generous NSTer, this is lovely. My first time smelling. What do others think?
A silk top from a thrift store with big pink roses on it ? ?
Your thrift store finds all sound so fun and fashionable
This one is Henri Bendel, it has gold buttons down the front. The background is black with big pink flowers. It’s light silk fabric and gorgeous feel to it.
Nice! The art on the bottle of calligraphy Rose is beautiful. Does it smell similar to Rose Flash?
My thoughts exactly!
I love Calligraphy Rose, I find it reminds me of Amber Sultan but with roses! You smell great, , it’s such a bargain too, I would own a bottle if it came in smaller sizes.
I received a compliment on Calligraphy Rose, it is beautiful. Your silk top sounds beautiful.
Yes, I love that one too! And your thrift shop find sounds wonderful!
I love thrift store finds! Especially the cute sweaters. I found one with an adorable hand-beaded pattern along the front.
That blouse sounds wonderful and you smell lovely!
I love to shop at thrift stores, your find sounds amazing.
Timbuktu is fantastic! You are reminding me Robin to get my sample out.
I’m in PG’s Neroli Astara. It’s pretty but too soapy for me.
I saw your post the other day about a possible split of Coromandel, and wanted to say I would definitely be interested!
Yay! I will post about it on the lazy weekend post
I should have all my perfumes on a huge lazy susan so I don’t forget to wear them
That would have to be one huuge lazy susan
I’m back to vetiver in Terre d’Hermes. I just love this stuff.
You smell wonderful! My godsons, nephews and nieces and I share this fragrance amongst us- we are now calling this the family scent!
TDC Bois d’Iris. I have decants of both this and the VCA version. This one is a solid like, the VCA is a solid love.
My feelings on the two versions exactly!
Just was reading yesterday’s posts… best wishes to your grandmother! My maternal grand mom struggled with short term memory, but she always knew me, well into her ‘90s. My goodness, she was a joy.
I’m in Eiderantler again today but I think my hairspray is winning out scent-wise.
Three cheers for Thursday! Over the hump and vacation day tomorrow
Ha! I hate hair product competition. I really need to re-try that perfume. My recollection was that it smelled a little horse stable-ish? I smelled the whole line at once at TL so maybe I’m misremembering.
Still trying to finish off some older, near-empty decants before they evaporate — today’s thunk toward that end is Rose d’Homme. Which seems to have gone off a bit.
That’s a lovely rose, sorry it’s gone off
Tentative sample spritz of Rhinoceros today, for my ZOTM.
Immediate sniff was rubbing alcohol, “settling” into camphorous woods. Looked up the note “Armoise” from the list and that’s it! Learned it shares qualities with sage, cedar, and is “thujonic.” Which, then I had to also look up, means it’s a “thujone” which is a certain type of chemical, and they typically have a bitter scent. Huh.
Also, I just discovered that I have two sample vials that say “Panda,” and they don’t smell the same! I don’t have one that says “Hummingbird,” so I’m wondering if the Hummingbird I tested is actually Hummingbird in a Panda vial? Very curious.
Panda was reformulated in 2017, so you probably have both ther original and the newer versions! Too bad you don’t know which is which. Zoologist still has bottles of both versions available.
Was the reformulation a dramatic departure? One of them (in the Hummingbird card) is sweet, floral, with lots of honey. The other (in the Panda card) is green with tea notes and woods. . .
Sweet floral with honey definitely sounds like Hummingbird! I tested each version of Panda very briefly and with other perfumes, so I’m afraid I can’t speak to the differences.
I agree with TRF thatbsweet floral honey is Hummingbird.
Thank you, both of you! Funny the Hummingbird ended up in the right “matchbox” but the wrong vial. . . Good to think I’ve actually sniffed it, though!
And if you’re wondering which Panda you have, the old one had a ton of bamboo and musk, and the new one has some ozone and apple.
Marjorie Rose, I did catch up with your reply about the field day earlier today. I’m glad that you made it there, too. People will always remember a good teacher that they had.
Volutes edt for a rainy and grey Thursday.
you smell great!!
SOTD is combo of Chanel Biarritz and Deauville.
Two days to Africa!
So excited for you! How long is your trip?
Three delicious weeks
I could have joined you. You smell great!
Posting early to thank every single person who posted such encouraging words yesterday. I think your well wishes (and my neighbour’s prayers) made all the difference, as… drumroll…my son has been accepted at this new school. This is a minor miracle. Suffice to say that when I told his teacher last week that we would be trying to move him, she said: “Good luck with that”. Anyhow, Cazaubon you gave me such hope stating that a new school changed the course of your life. That is exactly what I am hoping for for my son. To all the moms out there rooting for their fragile ducklings: OaklandFresca, Lillyjo and Tiffanie come to mind: sometimes we do prove all the doubters wrong. And it feels good!!!
Best of luck to your son, Amyitis!
This is great news! Heres to a great new school year!?
Hopefully your brother will be on the mend soon.
I missed your story yesterday–will try to find it now. But a huge congratulations for making things happen. What is straight forward for some in raising their kids, can be so dang complicated for others– me? I usually don’t have the energy left afterwards to explain why … Anyway, more importantly (!), I am really happy for you and for your son!!!!
Just found your earlier post. Super sorry that your brother is so unwell. You are definitely going through a lot. Be kind to yourself when you find your nerves are frayed and you have little bandwidth.
Huzzah! Please be good to your self.
Wonderful, and now you can relax, so happy for you.
That’s great! I hope things look up from here.
Yay!!! So happy for you and for him. May this be a wonderful new start.
Well done Amyitis. What a fantastic outcome and all the best with the new school and future happy days
That’s wonderful! You rock mama bear!
Yay! That’s awesome! Wishing you and your son all the best!
woot woot! go mama! we do know how to lead our ducklings.
Yay for some good news!
Wonderful news about your son and his schooling!
Just went back to see yesterday’s posts. Congratulations to new beginnings!
Congratulations to your son and I hope the new school treats you both better!
Smelling very fancy today in 24, Faubourg.
Fancy indeed! You smell gorgeous
You smell quite elegant.
ahhhh so gorgeous. I think 24 Faubourg is such an elegant beauty.
Hey there Fancy Pants? smelling great!
Poême all day!
You smell wonderful!
Thank you! As do you!
wow..I haven’t seen that one in awhile. Do they still make that perfume?
How does it smell..God its been ages since I smelled that fragrance. Maybe back in the 90’s I smelled that one at Macys when Juleitte Binoche was in the ad for that one (me thinks)
I had not worn it since the 90s. someone I know was wearing it last summer so I asked her what she was wearing. I didn’t even have any scent memory of it which was surprising to me. It’s available on Lancôme’s website, I’ve not checked the dept stores. The dry-down is vanilla, it’s a big floral vanilla, and I think is a tiny bit like 24 Faubourg. Haven’t tried those two side by side yet.
Poeme has stood the test of time, you smell great.
Thank you ?
Poeme and Tresor used to be always on hand for me. Loved them. However..Tresor now is so sharp it’s not as wearable. Poeme came harder to find for a while..at least where I was and before I had the innanet. I guess I just lost touch with it. I still love both so much more than those dreaded La Vie est Belles. La Vie is so strong…I may use to scare the mice away from my place lol.
Ha, re the LvB to scare mice! I found a vtg Tresor, I’ve not smelled the recent version. The lotion smells amazing, however.
I know that I have smelled Poeme in the past, yet I can’t remember what it smelled like, either. Strange how that can happen.
Yes! I wonder why that happens?
Chanel No. 19 Poudre for another dark, cool, rainy day. I needed something beautiful and comfy to cheer me up!
I wore that one Tuesday evening to a benefit. I feel like it fades on me really fast, or faster than I want it to.
After 4 hours it has become a skin scent, but I can smell on my shirt very well.
I love Poudre, you smell bright and cozy at the same time! My non scientific research says a cool wet summer equals a warm dry winter???
Oh Lillyjo! I will trust on your non scientific research and cross fingers for a warm, dry winter and why not shorter also!
Uhhmmm, are you sure lillyjo ?
I will tell you if I’m sure next march ?
It is such a cosy perfume.
So comfy for a gloomy day!
The NYC area sure looked socked in when I saw pictures on the news. Holy airport delays!
It was awfully wet most of the day. It stopped raining already, but it is very cloudy.
Continuing this week’s green theme with vintage Silences. Not sure exactly *how* vintage it is, but that’s what the ebay seller claimed. I definitely smell the similarity with Chanel No 19, but I actually like Silences better – it’s more about the sharp greens (the good stuff!) with some soft. springy florals in the background, while No 19 is more about the powdery iris, I think.
Oh that sounds lovely, I’ll have to track some down! No 19 is beautiful, but I usually feel like it’s wearing me rather than the other way around.
Scent twin! After all the chatter yesterday, I had to wear it.
Day Two of vacation, and am spending the morning in Prada L’Eau Ambree. It is definitely a sleeper, becoming more of a favorite each time I wear it, and Robin’s review is spot-on – starts out very reminiscent of Infusion d’Iris, and then morphs into more of a soft, woody, very clean/modern amber.
Spent yesterday in copious spritzings of Iroaz, after finally locating and consolidating three decants into one larger bottle with a better spray head. Heavier spraying brought out more beachy rose, which is exactly what I wanted from it. If I’d heard of Iroaz while Lostmarc’h was still making it, I would definitely have sprung for a FB. Just lovely. Happy Friday Eve, NST!
Yes, it’s a treasure, and I adore the citrus in the opening, you smell great.
Annick Goutal Eau de Hadrien today, nice and bright and summery.
I made it official last night and bought my badge and plane tickets. I’m going to Fantastic Fest! Austin in September is gonna be way hotter than I’m used to, next thing I need to buy is shorts.
What an exciting adventure!
Awesome! I’m so glad you decided to go! Buy your shorts now, because fall clothes will be arriving soon.
Excellent news about you going to Fantastic Fest!
Hi all, SOTD is vintage Shalimar Parfum de toilette from an 80’s bottle. I’ve been wearing this to bed but decided it was time to enjoy it as I think the top notes are beginning to turn. Happy almost Friday!
Oh, I love Shalimar in the summer! Any vintage is good, but older is better. ?
I agree! For some reason, the newer versions (last 10 years) just don’t work at all on my skin.
I love older versions of Jicky also. Such a musky/skanky beast.
‘musty/skanky beast’.. lol. You are speaking my language!
Woke up 5 minutes after I was supposed to leave today… longtime readers will know this is not the first time. The perils of using my phone as an alarm clock = I have to remember to turn the volume up when I set my alarm! I might have to get a regular one just for this problem. Anyway no time for scent, but when I got here my coworker – the one who brought in lilacs yesterday – had brought me my OWN bunch for my OWN desk, so I have absolutely no need for scent and who would want any with this amazing fragrance filling up the room. Ahhhhhh
What a treat!
Your coworker sounds wonderful The air around you smells great!
What a lovely thing for your coworker to do!
Lilacs… I’m drooling.
SotD is New York (Nicolai)
Weather today here:
Sun and rain and sun and rain and sun…
You smell fabulous!
SOTD = Le Labo Vanille 44
because rainy. It is as from green as white is from black ?
If anyone is into food porn, I have 2 posts op on IG ?
We’re sisters in vanilla fragrances.
Unrelated to this: Thanks for your basenotes splitting tip on yesterday’s SOTD post! I’ll have to try that out.
Has there been a Community Project for rainy day scents yet?
If not, there really should be. At least this year. ?
For sure! ?
Testing the new Chanel– Paris Riviera. So far? Pretty but not rocking my world.
Stopped into a few other high end shops yesterday when my son and I were having our Hermes adventure (sniffed about 10 Hermes perfumes I hadn’t sniffed before–all on paper. I thought the new one, Un Jardin sur la Lagune, was very pretty. Really liked Hiris (yep, I had never sniffed it before) and Rose Amazone, and the rhubarb one, and the geranium one). Also went to NM’s Guerlain counter and tried several in the L’Art et La Metiere and Les Parisiennes lines. Really liked Promenade des Anglais.
I know I am too old to be gobsmacked by the extremely wealthy, but I still am. In Hermes, a man was looking over about ten scarves, and wound up buying several of each… I’m guessing he spent over $10,000 on scarves alone, in less than 10 minutes. They were beautiful.
It is really interesting to see tourists here at the Portland Downtown Nordstrom purchase certain items and you begin to understand why certain vendors and stores have opened up in Portland. Tax free shopping is a huge thing, and watching a tourist from the PRC go ham on actual clothing from Chanel is amazing!
And yet. . . when I was planning for my wedding, I went looking for a unique dress. I was open to buying (repurposing, really) a designer dress–I wanted a non-wedding, wedding dress. Anyway, I had a terrible time finding creative and interesting options–apparently even the rich in Portland don’t wear fancy party dresses or gowns! No market for them at all, so I ended up buying online.
What I found is that there is a market for dresses and elegant dresses, even elegant day dresses, here in Portland there is like zero activities that call for evening gowns or party gowns unless you are a teen going to prom.
Agreed. My brother sings with Portland Opera, and when we go to his performances, we are often more formally dressed than perhaps 50% of the audience (especially the men).
I actually think it’s kinda great that folks “of all stripes” will go to opera, but I don’t get not treating it like a special occasion. I enjoy having the excuse to feel fancy.
My guess is part of it is that our “local” wealthy folks includes a lot of engineers, and they can be a pretty casual bunch, in my experience.
Aha! I had forgotten about the tax-free status of OR! I love Portland; maybe I’ll have to pop up for a visit if I ever get to buy an Hermes scarf!
There’s no sales tax in Oregon?
Nope. OR and DE do not have sales tax.
Nope. Part of the economy depends on having no sales taxes.
Do you have a gasoline tax?
Chanel releases have not rocked my world for a while.
I like scarves but I won’t pay over $15 dollars for them lol. Lookin at the Hermes site..they have some gorgeous ones though. Not sure if I would wear them or want to frame them. Lol.
Find this one for me for $15 and I’m in like Flynn!
I can’t decide if I like the Gozilla creature or the little brachiosaurus with the palm (?) tree in its mouth best!
Seriously peyote induced art!
I like to believe that creativity doesn’t require altered states of consciousness. . . ?
I have seen how those scarves are made and MY GOODNESS. That is a work of art that I would definitely frame.
I have two and can’t bring myself to wear them for fear of getting them dirty because they are $$$$. Sigh.
I have a beautiful, heavy silk scarf with a bold jazz scene on it that was given to me by Geraldine Ferraro many moons ago when she was serving on the UN Commission for Human Rights–really precious to me (although hardly a Hermes!). I love to wear it on occasions when I need to feel strong or powerful. I don’t wear it often, but when I do–watch out!
I say, if you want to wear the scarves, wear them! I bet they are stunning.
You were given a scarf by Geraldine Ferraro??!?! What a fabulous life you live!
I love silk scarves. I have some liberty ones that must be 30 years old and still in perfect condition despite months of hard wear. Such good value for money in my book!
I do too—both love them and have a very old and still perfect Liberty scarf. I bought it on a splurge during my first Europe trip back in about 1983. It’s got a sort of Book of Kelly’s design to it in shades of browns, green, light yellow, and orange. My favorite scarves are from Etro and I own too many to confess. The best place to buy silk scarves, though, is in China! Wow! Amazing designs and prices were perhaps half what you’d pay here. Plus it was so much fun shopping when the sales girls didn’t speak much English but were really willing to help me make selections.
Book of Kells
I have 4 Hermès scarves I think. One I bought years ago in Paris – I was on a mission that trip to buy a scarf, a purse, and fragrance. Then my husband gave me one for Christmas some years back, a friend got me one at a trunk sale, and I got one of the smaller ones that is white, black, gray and yellow. I love them all and consider them akin to jewelry. Those days are over, though, and I don’t wear them very much. I’m hoping I’ll wear them in the future as an attempt to be a chic old lady instead of my more natural casual self…. ?
I know a woman in her 80’s in my field who goes to many international conferences and always rocks her Hermès scarves! Plus she has such chic white hair cut in a bob!
Jealous of your Etro ones. I have an oblong one in chiffon that I wear a lot.
I wish my hair would go white…. I got my hair cut yesterday from a new guy. He said he likes my natural color and wouldn’t do any color. The gray in my hair has come in strand-by-strand. People would pay a lot of money to get highlights this subtle…but in blonde….
Not sure if this is something you’ve tried, but a co-worker has lovely grey/white hair. She suffered while it grew out by not coloring it (her words). All she did was use a violet/blue shampoo regularly to enhance the silver color.
Hello to Thursday!
It has been astonishingly hot the past couple of days. It has gone down in temp but still hot- 86F(30C). Oy!
Am in Prim Botanicals Body oil and Lavanilla Summer Deo. Will spritz on Florida Water later to cool down.
All of my herbs are doing well EXCEPT the basil, which seems stunted. Sigh- I think I put them out way too soon this year- we had chilly nights.
Some of the tomatoes are struggling a bit but the majority seem fine. All the other hot weather starts are very happy.
The Lavanila deos smell so good! I used to wear the pure vanilla and the passionfruit vanilla, but for some reason they stopped working for me.
I really like the deos from Lavanilla! My thing is that I wear them AFTER my workouts and quick morning shower, and I use them all over when it is hot like this- so on the soles of the feet and under the arms and down the thighs.
Oh that’s smart! I have a couple backup sticks and will try using them on my feet.
Bonus: using the deos on your feet not only leave them feeling fresh but cuts down on chafing.
It’s not too late to plant more basil! It germinates so quickly. I’ve had more luck with the globe-type, Greek basil, too. Although it’s not as easy to harvest (or quite as peppery in flavor).
I am on this! I have some seeds left, so will start some TONIGHT.
Basil needs lots of water too.
Did you check for tiny sticky aphids? The leaves might need a wipe with a diluted detergent/ water mix? It might be worth a go. Maybe it would do better in pots inside so you can move them around, and slow down sun damage and water evaporation?
They do look a little nibbled on (which I expect) so I will do that and put them in pots. I think the real issue is that I jumped the gun and put them outside too early. All the other herbs are cool weather herbs- chervil, parsley, cilantro, borage, salad burnet- but the basil should have had warmer nights.
Wearing no 5 again today. Got through 2 thunderstorms and one of them involved hail. Off to work right now and hoping for an easy 7 hour shift.
Love number 5. I smelled the lotion on a lady the other day..I told her she smelled lovely. She said that made her day. Sometimes I feel weird about asking about or complimenting someone’s scent but I haven’t found one that has taken offense all seem to love being noticed.
Rolled out of bed very late but still smelling like last nights shower gel- philosophy Warm Cashmere, or Cashmere Warmth, or some such.
Whoever controls the power switch and adjusted heat to “Low,” I am eternally grateful!
That was a cool looking bird you saw the other day. Love the kayaking with T Rex. Sending you a blast of antarctic southerly…two beanies worth
Very cool weather for the season again, I’m keeping all cosy in Cartier Baiser Vole Essence de Parfum (which I usually wear in fall and winter), very vanilla forward on me, and it’s a good one. I’m not sure but I think this version was discontinued, if that’s the case it’s a real pity.
Cool weather here today, too. Although the 5 day forecast has temps near 90F (32C) in it. I might be back on that roller coaster again…
These changes are so crazy. Hope you will enjoy the hot weather. At least we can wear our cool temperatures perfumes, that’s a plus.
My weather guy said today we might only see ninety, twice this summer.
Wow! Are temps in the 90’s normal for your summer?
They said we average 9 per summer.
It was cool and rainy earlier so I wore Bottega Veneta, which fit my mood and the weather. It’s cleared up now a bit, but I’m still smelling delish!
You smell heavenly!!?
I bet that your Bottega Veneta bloomed beautifully today.
Perfect choice for today!
I guess I am gettin my vaccum today..on a tighter..much tighter budget than the last time I got one.
I been commando for several days..as I had a skin reaction to some kind of allergen..not sure exactly..but usually don’t get those. It was eau de calamine lotion for a couple days lol.
Feel better Omega. It’s nice to see your posts again.
And Robin, you smell of faraway lands, today.
Yes, and since it turned into a bad day, that is what I am thinking of too, ha!
I wore Timbuktu last week as well for the first time in a long time, it really is good.
Today is a massive dose of Aura edp. It’s hitting the spot.
You smell great! Have you tried the edt? I liked it, but not as much as the edp.
No, not yet. I also preferred the edp to the edt of Angel Muse, so I haven’t been too bothered about seeking out the Aura edt.
Aura really carries a punch
SotD = Hiris
because Thursdays are for Hiris.
Infusion d’Iris EdT is on deck for this evening.
Hi, fragrance friends!
Long time, no comment. I’ve missed you.
Monday I was on an airplane.
Tuesday I attended a true BFF’s funeral then flew home again.
Wednesday my daughter graduated from high school.
Today I’m about to fall over.
At least I smell nice.
Have a fantastic day, NSTers!
Hope you will always be filled with sweet memories of your friend. And that you get some rest.
thanks, Laura, my restful to do list today is:
2. bike ride
3. read on couch
that should cover it.
That sounds like a fitting end to your week. Adding condolences and congratulations.
thank u, Robin!
I’m sorry for your loss., tiffanie.
Congratulations to your daughter, hope you able to get some good rest soon.
thank u, lillyjo. it’s been a sweet experience to do some of the “typical” high school things with my daughter, like prom and graduation. I don’t take anything for granted.
Sorry for your loss <3 but congrats to your daughter.
koyel, I appreciate that! Sometimes life is about opposites, joy and sadness, beginnings and endings, and all that comes in between.
Gosh, you always know exactly the right way to say these things <3
So sorry for your loss, tiffanie. Congratulations to your daughter in her graduation!
thank u & thank u, hajusuuri
So sorry to hear about your BFF’s passing tiffanie. My condolences. On the other hand, congratulations to your daughter! Talk about emotional whiplash… what a week.
wattaweek, wattaweek ???
I’m so sorry for your loss. Happy for your daughter and congratulations to her.
thank u, LizzieB ?
Lots of emotions – sending you hugs as you rest and recover.
and hugs to you ???
Life is full of highs and lows. So sorry for your loss.
Congratulations to your daughter!
it’s a roller coaster around here ??
I went out in the unseasonably cold and damp weather today to get some of the first crop of fresh local strawberries. Wearing Bois de Vanille and two sweaters for warmth!
Local strawberries = yummy!
We got our first handful of raspberries from the backyard today, but they are *tart* and then some.
Almost Friday indeed!!! YAY YAY YAY
Wearing a fun scent today…..Tous Happy Moments. Popcorn, white chocolate, pineapple and clementines. Good stuff!
Good news: My hubby is coming back from his teaching trip in Tanzania on Saturday! YAY YAY YAY Unfortunately it’s a week early because he’s been very sick the past few days and had to start antibiotics…but I’m thrilled he’s headed back. He’s just looking forward to his own bed in a couple more days……
Just sent up a prayer for his safe travel home ❤️
Thank you so much! Hoping the flights are running on time and he stays comfortable…..total of 18 hours in the air!
That’s rough. Please remind him to drink LOTS of water in route. Hubby’s need reminding of these things. ?
Oof. Hope he heals quickly but glad he’s coming back!
Oy! Sending healing thoughts. It is no fun to be sick and it’s even worse when you’re not home and supremely worse when you’re out of the country.!
Yikes. I hope that your husband has the best trip home that is possible.
That sounds like a yummy scent! Glad your husband is coming home. I imagine he’ll want some nice pampering. I’m sure he’ll recover quickly once home.
Poor guy. Hope he’s home safe and sound asap!
More wishes for a safe trip and quick recovery!
I need help from the perfume sleuths. I am trying to get my hands on Santal Spirit , a perfume made by Betrand Duchaufour for the Australian sandalwood grower/distillery ( the biggest in the world, apparently) Mt. ROmance (Quintis group). This plantation is way up north at the top of western Australia almost at Northern Territory ( close to where the Hugh Jackman/Nicole Kidman film Australia was filmed)…a long way from any major cities. Mt Romance won’t ship overseas , which is the problem.
Another coooold day. Hat, gloves, torch and off to the woods! At least being in nature is good for your health though not necessarily your comfort.
CP match is Interlude.
Sounds wonderful, hopefully you can find an Australian to help you out!
I read the reviews, it sounds really good. Good luck finding it.
Cold & rainy + DH out of town = Lipstick Rose
This love falls heavily into hubby’s dislike category. When the cat’s away……. ??
It’s 55 degrees with all day rain. I’m wearing and thunking Atelier Cologne Rendez-Vous. I find it similar to Bottega Veneta but with citrus, and not as dry.
That sounds like a good perfume for a murky day
That was exactly my thoughts this morning.
It sounds like our weather in the UK, Lillyjo. I wasn’t familiar with this AC, you make it sound tempting.
I didn’t know about it either until the lovely Laura sent me some. I like it quite a bit.
I have 30mLs of this floating around somewhere!
I thought you might have it, since you mention some of the more hard to find Ateliers
You have the same kind of weather today that I do. Sounds like your perfume choice was a good one.
It really was.
Hey weather twin!
It cooled off a bit here but it’s still warm. It seems like summer is here to stay so I’ll switch out the winter clothes from the bedroom closet to the guest room. I did the “Backwards hanger” thing to see what I wore over the winter and there are definitely a few things going to Goodwill.
Despite spraying my Assam of India lavishly every time I wear it, I still haven’t got past the first row of elephants.
I have to do the seasonal clothing switch too this week. Such a good idea about the backward hangers, I always forget.
I took a chance and packed away my winter clothes about 3 weeks ago. So far, so good. But I am keeping a couple pairs of wool socks out for a bit longer.
Ma Griffe, the driest green scent i own, Vintage bottle.
Beautiful perfume, I adore this green gardenia.
Wearing Zoologist Moth today and it smells so good! I’m doing housework and keep catching little whiffs. Our poor kitty has such matted fur on his back – it happens every spring when he sheds the winter undercoat – and there is cat hair absolutely EVERYWHERE. He goes in for grooming in a couple weeks to get his annual summer lion cut, he hates it but seems to feel so much better afterwards.
LOL. I saw my sister’s Javanese last week and remarked that he looks bigger and that he even winked at me. I saw him again after he was groomed and he shrunk by a few inches…so still tiny!
There are clouds of cat hair all over my house right now too.
Poor matted kitty. I hate shedding season too.
I’m in Dame Dark Horse, smelling fine.
We were almost twins today.
Definitely a squishy start to my day. The weather guys and gals have said that my area got over an inch of rain since midnight. There have been breaks in the clouds, and even some sun, but more storms are in the forecast for this evening. ?☂☔
It’s taken nearly all week to come up with an idea for the CP, but I now have a couple of options for tomorrow. This one was tough!
SOTD = nothing at all to do with the CP. I’m trying Replica By The Fireplace for the first time today. It smells like cinnamon rolls and wood smoke to me. Nice, but better suited to cold winter weather.
That replica smells interesting.
You’ve tried it then?
It’s surprisingly cold here today with a high of 55 and steady rain today. I had to turn on the heat this evening…in June. I hope Lillyjo is right about a mild winter because we’re not having much luck this year.
I’m not a fan of wood smoke due to allergies so have never tried BTFp. Must be a bit much today unless you’re a light sprayer?
A lot of places down here were in the upper 60’s today.
I’d call By The Fireplace a wood smoke gourmand… the sweet notes are about as strong as the smoke is on me. I am a light sprayer though… 1 or 2 spritzes is my typical application.
That’s alot of rain in a short time. I tried By the Fireplace, but I can’t enjoy anything with woodsmoke, it makes me nervous.
From what I heard on the radio, traffic was surprisingly unaffected by the weather this morning.
Does any kind of smoke in perfume bother you? Or is it just woodsmoke?
I’m allergic to any burning wood smell.
Fireplace, wood stove, even just a campfire. I like the smell but I don’t like to wear it, if that makes sense?
Oh yeah… there are some things like I like to smell, but do not want to smell of! Figures that I can’t think of any examples right now.
Anything that has a burning smell makes me anxious. Even burnt food, camp fires, the melting plastic smell. Cigarette smell doesn’t bother me, but a burning cigarette butt will. I have a huge fear of fire.
Wow. Best to avoid all of that then. I personally can’t stand the smell of cigarettes. They make me nauseous.
EB Fragile Violet from a decant my sister gave me. Cool, for a cool day. And trying to counteract the dusty smell as I tackle dust bunnies in the bedroom. Good grief. How did I let it get this bad? Contrary to popular thought, keeping a small apartment clean and tidy can be a bigger challenge than larger spaces.
And, I made (I kid you not) about 8 phone calls before successfully making an appointment with a new primary care doctor. And one wonders why I tend to become way overdue on visits… because it’s all such an ordeal. And I don’t do well with ordeals. (Although I am good at getting refunds/replacements from places like Chewy, who sent us a case of cat food in badly damaged tins….)
I’m also not good with ordeals. I’m putting off an appointment with the hearing people right now. Good for you for sticking with the calls!
Second that… I just put off things until they become a problem. ?
I’m wearing Azemour Les Oranges today during more disgustingly hot humid weather. After a tough session in PT, I met up with my ex to take Mom to the eye doctor. Handling her wheelchair and her as well isn’t possible for me and made worse in the broiling sun. Whew. Now I am icing my sore leg and drinking a good German Pinot Gris. Plus, my neighbors have invited me over for fresh red snapper on the grill! Things are looking up.
Enjoy that Pinot Gris, Calypso! I’m glad things are looking up and that the people around you are making your day better!
Sounds like you have some really nice neighbors. ??
Anothet long day. SOTD day is my new love, Datura Noir.
You smell wonderful!
We should all wear are perfume loves more often.
Yay for a new perfume love!
Hope you get some relaxation in before bedtime- long days are hard to shake off
You guys are awesome! Relaxing now… ahhhh.
I am wearing vintage Miss Dior and packing for my trip to Armenia. It is really hot there during this time so I will take only samples and decants of colognes and fresh scents.
We took a tour that will take us to rural places and villages so this will be a different kind of vacation for us, I am excited though.
Have a fun and safe trip!
A big windstorm foiled my plans of sitting outside after work sampling more of White Gold.
As consolation, I”m inside with 8-10 sprays of vintage Chanel No. 19 edt. Still a big win, because, Chanel, AND it’s my Friday!
Since you mentioned about liking salty/aquatic scents yesterday, I thought I would recommend bath and body works At the Beach line. If you like body products. I’ve been using the shower gel and lotion and really like them. I believe there is also a body scrub. Have a great weekend!
Thank you! I am having a ‘me’ day tomorrow, I think I will head out to my mall by myself to check that out and the Body Shop for that rose fragrance.
My hubby will be caddying for his brother tomorrow in a golf tournament. Last year I went, and besides getting near heatstroke from soaring temps, I was ‘shushed’. Even my hubs (his brother) got cr*p for not being quick enough with the clubs.
