Tuesday! Birthdays today: Ishirō Honda, Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, Robert Browning. What fragrance are you wearing?
I was going to wear Heeley's Spirit of the Tiger, and I went and found this perfect tiger teapot to match and everything, but of course I cannot find my sample of Spirit of the Tiger. So no points for me today! I'm smelling fantastic anyway, in Blackbird Y06-S. Tea at the moment is Upton Organic English Breakfast.
Reminder: on 5/10, wear a fragrance by Heeley, Hiram Green, Histoires de Parfums or Honoré des Prés, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter H.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: The Tiger Who Came to Tea at The Savoy teapot ("The Savoy has teamed up with HarperCollins Children’s Books to commemorate the fifty-year anniversary of Judith Kerr’s treasured classic The Tiger Who Came to Tea through the launch of a unique children’s Afternoon Tea - The Tiger Who Came to Tea at The Savoy. You can now buy the bespoke chinaware, with illustrations from the book. Made by Heraldic Pottery." is £60 at The Savoy.
I’m wearing HdP again, this time 1740, which I’ve never worn. I like it.
I love that one and own a FB, which I may wear on Friday. Don’t like the name but love the juice. Very good patchouli-centric scent.
My favourite HdP! You smell glorious.
1740 is very nice! Like Calypso, I don’t care for the name at all. HdP used to have travel sizes of their scents available. Not sure if that is still the case.
1804 redux
I’m in Brin de Reglisse for the tiniest fraction of a point, because I finally got some samples of the earlier Hermessences I never managed to try. I can certainly see why this one is such a favorite – it’s addictive much like licorice itself! (and Robin, going back to read your reviews, I wonder if Brin de Reglisse has won out over Vetiver Tonka in the end? I feel like I see you mention it more often!).
My favorite Hermessence, probably because I love both lavender and licorice. You smell lovely!
Oh, interesting — maybe! I have gone through more small bottles of VT but maybe I do now reach for BdR more often.
Coco
French breakfast by MF, sip of the day
Robin, I will give you points if you listen to “Eye of the Tiger”?
I’m so frustrated with my son’s “guidance” counselor right now, I could scream. I am trying to get him into a college course for his senior year, and we are not getting much guidance. It’s cold and windy and rainy, I’m wearing Ambre Nue. 4 sprays, but it feels faint on my skin. I like how it smells very much.
Sadly, I have heard that song recently because my son listens to it, and even to crappy covers of it, much to my EXTREME dismay. There are several other songs like that, that I did not even like the first time around, that he plays regularly.
To this, I say triple points for you all week!
Sorry for your frustrations lillyjo. Maybe call and ask him who you can speak to above him to make it happen. I recently had an insurance frustration and called my point person and simply said, “I’m not taking no for an answer, so who do I need to talk to, to make this happen.” Results!? Stay strong mom!
Also, thank you for the morning ear worm!?
Thanks!, I’ve been emailing all morning and my son has an appointment tomorrow, so I will see if that brings results.
Good luck, be persistent!
Yes, what cazaubon says, be persistent!?
All 3 of my kids had the same guidance counselor. After experiences with ds#1, I was not happy but there was nothing I could do short of raising h#ll. I chose not to, but in your case, I might have!?
Hoping for the right guidance at last for your son, Lillyjo, stay strong.
Good luck with that appointment tomorrow lillyjo!
Hello everyone!
I’m in vintage Dioressence today, from a sealed atomizer I found a few years ago. I rarely wear it because I feel like it doesn’t last very long. Giving it a real test today!
I’m in Assam of India for teapot Tuesday. I’m trying to spend some time with my full bottles this month. I tend to get distracted by samples and decants. Tea is half caff coffee.
Sunday afternoon I got two emails from “PayPal” that were in French…I don’t speak French and I am in the US. I immediately forwarded them to spoof@paypal and tried to log into my account but was unable to. I kept getting a page, also in French, asking me for a verification code. Unfortunately I have it linked to my checking account and since it was Sunday I couldn’t call my bank to alert them….so, when I got up yesterday and logged into my bank, sure enough $1000 had been withdrawn. I called my bank and they will stop the transaction. I have to stop in today and fill out some paperwork. I hate this kind of stuff. The people that do this are really the scum of the earth, just one step above people that run financial scams on the elderly. I guess it’s a first world problem, but still….so frustrating.
Terrible. At least you bank reacted fast.
And you smell great today.
Thanks Glannys!
Ack, that’s awful! And such a hassle. Sorry you are having to deal with this.
Thanks ringthing, it’s taken up a lot of my time and mental energy today, but things have been resolved.
So sorry!
You might check with your bank — my bank lets you have as many accounts as you want for no extra charge, so I keep a bunch of them, including one that is just for paypal — that way there isn’t much at stake. I’d still have the same issue you do, but I never have to worry that my main account will get cleared out and things will start bouncing…
Thanks Robin! That’s a good idea, that I should have thought of. As it stands, I have a brand new checking account and a shiny new debit card.
So sorry this happened to you! This is not a first world problem. This is a people are #$% <$#!!!! Problem! Stay strong yourself ??
I agree 100% on everything you said! ?
Thanks lillyjo!?
So sorry to hear about your bank/paypal fraud issue, I hope it gets resolved without too much pain. Like Robin, I have my paypal account linked to a bank account that is not my main one and has very little money in it.
Thanks cazaubon, as I type this, it has been resolved. The only real pain being that it took much of my day today. I’m about ready for something a little stronger than my afternoon tea.?
Ohmygod that’s so scary and stressful! I use Paypal all the time and now I am worried.
It is scary! I’ve used PayPal since 2001 and have never had a problem. I was finally able to log back in today and reset my password and added a required passcode each time I log in. With that being said, I will probably end up closing my account.
Scammers = #^+*^!!!
Happy your bank is quick to stop it!
My bank- which is really a local credit union- has top notch customer service. The woman I met with was so helpful.
Yikes! Scary! Hope it gets resolved quickly.
Yikes is right! I think I might be done with PayPal.
So so so frustrating!!! You smell great, though.
Thanks KellyC!
I’m sorry that this happened to you. It’s such a nuisance.
I refused to give PP my bank account number. Although, they badgered the heck out of me. My account is linked to a credit card that has a low limit at my request. Dishonest people suc!<
Dishonest people are the worst!
I am sorry that happened to you. If it makes you feel any better, it has happened to me four times! It is such a creepy feeling and it makes you feel violated. As great the Internet is, unfortunately it is also another venue for crime.
Oh my gosh! Four times! That is terrible. I’m sorry that happened to you too!
Yuck. So sorry that you had to deal with that crap re: Paypal. I had issues with credit cards linked to my account, so now I don’t have anything attached to it. I haven’t used it in years.
I have several Heeley samples, including Esprit du Tigre. And I am going to try as many as I can during the next three days. (Or at least two days. On Friday I’ll probably wear a Heeley scent I know.)
Today, however, I am in Histoires de Parfums Tubereuse 2 Virginale. I give up on it. It’s a nice scent, but it just disappears in half an hour. Don’t know if it’s just me or it has real longevity issues.
For those of you fighting against auto correct –

😀
?
I have that one in the smaller sized spray bottle and it always seems to last fine on me. It was a freebie one time when I purchased another full bottle and I didn’t expect to like it, but I really do.
Maybe it’s just me. Pity – it’s a pretty sunny tuberose.
In Habanita because I was craving badly for it!
I’ve had Habanita in mind, too. You smell wonderful!
Thank you! ?
Is there anything you could compare Habanita with?
The only perfume that comes to mind right now and that I tried so many, many years ago is Toujours Moi.
I understand completely, Habanita is so special.
Agree! And it is and not easy to compare.
Wearing Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights today which is generally something I might wear in January, but it’s chilly and damp here and it smells good.
I’ve been curious about this one, I bet you smell great.
My good friend wears that and always smells so good. You do too!
Okay– What perfume am I wearing (this is a super easy quiz for those of us of a certain age!)?
Hint:
Me and some guys from school
Had a band and we tried real hard
Jimmy quit, Jody got married
I should’ve known we’d never get far
Oh, when I look back now
That summer seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
Yeah, I’d always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life
Ain’t no use in complainin’
When you’ve got a job to do
Spent my evenings down at the drive-in
And that’s when I met you, yeah
Standin’ on your mama’s porch
You told me that you’d wait forever
Oh, and when you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life
1969!
Ding ding ding!
Beat me by a whole hour! Dang it!?
ELDO Archives 69?
I’m on task in the CP, HdP 1969.
Oops. At least I was on the right track with “69”. By the way, I thought that ELDO named it after the year and only now found out Archives 69 is their address. :eek
Does it have a really lovely woody drydown? The reason I ask is that I tried Archives 69 and You or Someone like You on skin in the store and neither was great initially. However, when I got home, one of them had morphed into something very nice and for the life of me I couldn’t remember which was which.
I’ve not tried the Archives perfume, but I have a small bottle of “You or Someone. . .” and I like it a lot. If you are in the US, ping me and I will send you a sample of it and you can see if it is the one that morphed. I’m ann dotty eisenberg attagirl comcast dotty net.
Histoires de Parfums 1969!! 🙂
Chanel No 5 l’Eau today.
Last Saturday I snuggled my pup while wearing a sweater sprayed with some TF Oud Minerale, and I could sniff a faint trace of it on his fluff as late as last night. I am kinda glad it doesn’t last as long on skin!
You smell so nice! I just wore that one over the weekend.
Jacomo Silences. Another one with an LOTV note that I didn’t know of.
That’s news to me to, anyway you smell great.
too
Hello scent twin!
SOTD is box of eels just because
The teapot is so sweet! My favorite tiger is in Life of Pi…Richard Parker?
Loved that book.
That’s a great book and the film wasn’t bad either
Hey Twin. I had a craving for it today.
Started off looking like rain, but now the sun has come out! Going for a walk with the dog to enjoy it, wearing Vanille 44.
Smelling fine, enjoy your walk in the sun with the doggo?
I’m having a totally bizarre week here. I have to take some serious cognitive tests next Monday that require practice. So if I’m not working I’m doing complex sums about percentages, staring at changing shapes, or pondering the truth about obscure scientific facts. It makes a change, but it feels kind of useless.
The tests are a required part of a long selection process for a job. I’m not living in this madhouse for no reason.
SOTD is HdP 1725 (Casanova) a lovely and gentle lavender amber with some anise in it.
I’m on my third pot to tea (testing makes thirsty!)
Now I am super curious as to the nature of the job
Translating!
What?! Wow didn’t expect that. I sometimes write in the field of translation studies so this is super interesting. There is a lovely essay in Public Books online about translators as authors
It’s more to do with who you do the translations for, than the actual translating 😉
Good luck with the tests. Eat lots of fish this week!
Thanks! I know fish is supposed to help, though probably not at such short notice 😉
Good luck with the studying, austenfan!
Ooof. Best of luck with all that studying! ?
My folks are leaving tomorrow for California and I will be dog sitting. I am working 2nd shift at my job today and need to do some grocery shopping. For the past couple weeks, we have been cleaning out the fridge and freezer, eating as much as we can. So now, groceries are needed. Wearing Une Rose Vermeille today even though it will take at least 2 showers to get it off my skin. Looking forward to having the house to myself though.
I love having the house to myself too! Enjoy ?
Heeley Blanc Poudre today from a sample thrown in as an extra in a recent swap. I kinda love it! Reminded me a bit of my beloved Paul & Joe Blanc right when I sprayed it and them morphed more into a L’Heure Bleue smellalike. I wish Heeley sold their perfumes in bottles smaller than 100ml. I’m also realizing I’ve only smelled 5 of their perfumes, so I may add samples of those I’m interested in to orders when I can.
I’ve got Dilettante lined up for tomorrow since my coworker is taking a vacation day.
Dilettante is so lovely!!
It is so good. It’s probably my favorite orange blossom perfume.
I recently tried Blanc Poudre and I kinda love it too! Some of the Heeley’s come in 15 ml bottles, but not that one unfortunately. If you ever do a split of that one, count me in!
Glad to see another fan! It’s not likely I’ll split it, but if I do, I’ll keep you in mind.
While the coworker is away, the perfumista will spray! ?
Ha, exactly!
?
Mure et Musc.
A lovely classic.
#19 edt on a cold rainy day?Thank you KellyC for this lovely scent!
No 19 is fabulous but I think that the edp is better though followed by the parfum.
No points for me: I went with Lune Feline for a cold and rainy day. Spring where are you?
Would anyone who owns Guerlain’s Terracotta be up for a small (3 ml) decant swap? I don’t want to buy it blind and there is no easy way to test. I can offer in exchange a decant from my bottles of Lune Feline, Arbole Arbole, Istanbul by Gallivant, l’instant, tocade, or Kismet by Lubin. Write below if you are interested!
Email me at monica67@aol.com
Will do
Yesterday was such a MONDAY that I couldn’t even glance at NST until 6pm, yikes! Today is going slightly better but still rather Monday’s-ugly-sister-ish.
SOTD is Dawn Spencer Hurwitz (partial credit?) Giverney in Bloom. I am pretending it is spring even though it feels more like winter here… chilly, gray, dreary, even a bit of drizzle.
I had a fun time visiting Arielle Shoshana last week. Didn’t get to meet Ari but I enjoyed chatting with Katri. Got to sniff all the mods for her new perfume… sniffin good! Looking forward to the final version. Glad to see that her kickstarter is fully funded!
Sorry for the manic Monday, hopefully the rest of the week will be quieter.
Thanks for the update on the Arielle Shoshana Kickstarter! That is great news!
Jasmins Marzipane for me today. This is so sweet but it still works and it’s easy!
I’m a fan too. It smells like a really expensive face cream.
That’s an interesting comparison.
Not sure I’d like it on my face though. 🙂
Trying Tiger’s Nest one more time which I wanted to love based on the notes and artwork but somehow do not. Maybe the absinthe? Maybe a little too churchy for me?
Onward to Winter Palace… ?
I wore Tiger’s Nest yesterday. It reminds me very much of Etro Messe de Minuit, so you’re not far off on the churchy aspect.
I wanted to love that one too but it was too much for me. Actually the whole Memo line was too much for me
I do like it but it’s a cold weather scent for me.
I’m wearing Olfactive Studio Rose Shot, due to be released in the fall. It’s a more lightweight take on rose, it feels silky and somewhat dewy but also has a nice green vibe of the stem and leaves.
That sounds really nice.
I’m wearing a tiny bit of Cuir Pleine Fleur because I have a massage appt. later. It’s quite a soft scent right now, I am looking forward to putting on more and seeing where it goes. Thank you Oakland Fresca!
Love that one. You smell great!
So? So? Whaddya think? 😛
It’s really nice. I think I smell very ladylike, and I can smell the violet leaf too. It doesn’t seem to last very long on me (sad face).
Vintage Parfum Y, my one and only thrift store find. I’ve been reading the Neil Chapman perfume book little by little and last night was “Chypre” – this is the only one I’ve got, I think. I really need to grade all day, but now I want to go back to the thrift store instead!
You smell lovely, I have some extrait also.
Go back! The thrill of the hunt and the memories that familiar fragrances bring bubbling up. Not to mention sniffing scents you never would have not known.
I am wearing Pear Glace. I can tell it is older because Victoria’s Secret perfumes’ top notes do not age well, to my nose. Some are worth waiting for, to me. Others have been complete duds.
Happy hunting!
Heure Exquise for the office, but this evening I pulled out my bottle of Fleur de Chine, today there is a creamy citrus note in it that reminds me of Mitsouko for some reason.
I’ve been wearing Heure Equise a lot recently, it’s one of my favourites. You’ve reminded me-time to get out my bottle of Fleur de Chine,
We share our love for these two exceptional perfumes.
Yes!
Mmm creamy citrus sounds perfect
I liked that accord very much for sure, Yasmina, like lemon tart.
Mmm lemon tarte – now I am craving dessert!
Heure Exquise is lovely. You smell fabulous.
Thank you Kelly, it is truly an elegant perfume.
EDP or EDT? Regardless, they are both very nice and remind me of No.19!
Heure Exquise EDP, Hajusuuri.
Heure Exquise is gorgeous and definitely worth having a bottle of.
It languishes a little bit in the perfume cabinet because I use No 19 more often.
The Tiger who Came to Tea, one of me and my sisters favourite children’s books, now my childrens favourite! my daughter went to school dressed as Sophie for world book day last year, with my sons cuddly tiger who came to tea, I spent ages colouring in a pair of white tights with pink and blue squares for the costume!
SOTD 31 Rue Cambon for a Counseling placement interview, so so beautiful.
Mayfly, so glad you mentioned it — I was mystified that there was a children’s classic I had never even heard of, much less read. But I had never heard of it!
It’s a story of a very English late 60’s childhood
(the milk man, green grocers etc) , very quirky and the illustrations/art work are wonderfully of their time.
Interesting! So maybe it was never big in the US.
The Tiger who came to tea is on our bookshelf too, a well thumbed copy. I hope your interview goes well.
Thanks Kanuka!
Never seen or read The tiger who came to tea, but my son loves the MOG series, by the same author. You made me curious now! Love your SOTD btw.
Oh he will love The tiger who came to Tea if he loves the Mog books, it’s such a wonderful story, and the illustrations are wonderful- a treat for children and adults alike!
Great, I’ll buy it with the next occasion. He loves books, we read to him several books daily.
Any other recommendation? 🙂
Lovely teapot!
SOTD = Le Labo Iris 39
My first Le Labo and one of my favorite perfumes.
Back to commuting woes – how could anyone listen to “music” so loud through their headset that it almost feels like riding a car next to a car with souped up speakers at top volume? And why is it that the music is never classical?
We have.a challenge going on at work for Digital Detox. We got an email about the program and if you join, you are consenting to receive email reminders. What is wrong with this picture?
Did you know that in NJ, it is illegal to use a seatbelt on someone sitting on a wheelchair regardless of whether or not said wheelchair is stationary or mobile? It is a form of restraint. “Rights” over safety!
You smell wonderful!
Thank you, Petunia!
Wait… they’re not ALLOWED to wear seatbelts (seems too horrible to be true), or you can’t MAKE them wear seatbelts (seems like “rights” should not be in quotes)?
Not allowed. I have yet to look it up myself.
Well, I can say from a medical perspective, lap belts are considerered restraints. There have been a number of deaths in all kinds of institutions and facilities in which the belted person attempted to get out of the w/c/bed/chair and strangled themselves, leading to huge lawsuits and settlements. Like any tool, used unwisely or without proper supervision, it can make for a very bad day…
Ah. That sounds like a very complicated issue, thank you for the extra information.
Thanks, Deva! Now it makes sense. So what could be used for safety can harm as well. Ugh!
Ugh! Why is it that most music “blarers” always pick the most inappropriate spots to blare? ?
Right. You mean like the MAC counter inside Macy’s??
Funny!
Really!
The digital detox email made me LOL ?
I know, right?
Bletch on the headphone fail! ??
And what were those folks thinking with those email detox reminders??
Going big H in Hermes Hiris today. So funny, I’ve never noticed the rose in it before, but I could really smell it this morning. Now it’s just powdery and lovely.
The iris that got away. I’ve never tried Hiris and am curious if are wearing the current version? You make it sound lovely.
https://www.lushusa.com/face/moisturizers/banana-skin/07887.html
Robin if you are on a banana kick ….I tested this banana scented face oil at Lush the other day and thought it was nice, not too sweet or vanillary. I would use it on my body, I think. I had bad memories of grinding my way through Browning’s My Last Duchess at school. Every poem we did seemed to selected and taught in such a way that ninety percent of the class lost the will to live. Dover Beach was another that still makes me shudder. I think things have improved now. The great Australian poet Les Murray died last week . He was a real character, the kind of person who could be both everyman and sage. Anyway, Layering Smoked Ambergris with Prairie Nymph…perfect autumn combo.
Well, that combo sounds delightful, and so does that author!
You should give it a go. Did you see Smell bent has free shipping for mother’s day?
Yes, I saw that but I’m ok right now. Lemming only two full bottles of perfume, but I’m in a holding pattern for now. I just made an “unwise” purchase, although not perfume related. ?
I used to have a banana scented conditioner for my hair. I think it was made by the bodyshop.
Have you tried the new Artisan Banana?
I think it was/is Body Shop. I am interested in the Artisan but knowing it might have to be a blind buy and that banana is a bit of a miss for me I am holding off.
And it’s not the best banana out there either. My favourite banana fragrance is actually Felanilla. It’s an accent there and it works just brilliantly.
The opening of Banana (or whatever its name is) is really nice, but I did not enjoy the dry down as much.
Their Mont de Narcisse on the other hand is brilliant.
Okay–connection? Soul-killing + Banana.
In my life it was JD Salinger’s Nine Stories. Chief offender? “A Perfect Day for Bananafish.” I, who have trouble remembering the names of old friends, still have nightmares about Seymour Glass.
Blech!
That’s funny! Now I am going through my scary banana + school memories: the Banana Boat Song every Christmas assembly. Mashed banana sandwiches for lunch – made from leftover mashed banana from breakfast…as if it would be even nicer after four hours wrapped in paper and on white bread. The Banana Splits on TV. Cool bikes with banana seats ….
I liked the Banana Splits! I can’t believe that network TV ever aired something that trippy for kids, though.
Oh thank you…would never have noticed that product and now next time I get to Lush I will try it. I wish they’d do a banana shower gel!
Twins with aspara in Box of Eels today. Lovely stuff.
Lovely YOU wearing lovely stuff! ?
Corsica Furiosa for a summers day. Crazy that it’s in the mid 80’s here and predicted to be so over the next week. That means I will have to get housing for my work days because it’s soo hot to leave T-Rex in the van, which cuts into our Alaska budget. ?
I will say I’m enjoying CF immensely! It’s like an old friend I haven’t seen in years, yet we just fall back into the same easy friendship.
Researching medical coverage and found out that COBRAing my health insurance will be about $1000 smackers. I’m covered in Canada for urgent/emergent care, but it’s treated as out of network, so my costs will be exponentially higher. Maybe after I get mauled by a grizzly, I can hop in the van, drive over the border to Alaska, then activate my emergency satellite beacon?! ?
All money issues aside, I’m getting super excited. T-Rex and I spent the morning in the park, took a nice 3 mile bike ride, which is nothing for me, but a good dose of exercise for her, which she needs on my days off. Apparently, animal control is staking out the park and ticketing people with off lead dogs. Taking the van in tomorrow to have it looked at prior to launch time. Pretty sure I need new brakes, and I have planned for new AT tires as well. Hoping there’s nothing too costly that’s not covered by warranty. I may get a new heavy duty battery too…
My perfumes found a new home in a covered wooden box that fits the esthetic of the inside of the van, so I’m very happy about that.
Hoping things are going just as well for all NSTers today✌?
Oh Deva – how about you try really hard to NOT get mauled by a grizzly? Egads.
I’ll do my best, but I’m worried for my little buddy, who is perfect bear bait…She doesn’t have opposable thumbs, so I don’t think she can maneuver the bear spray…?
Is that for the whole summer? That honestly doesn’t seem that bad, but I’m sure it’s a lot more than your monthly premiums, cobra is never a good deal.
When do you leave?!
It’s for July and August. My contract here ends June 22, so I’ll be hitting the road soon after. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than no insurance. Weird things happen, especially to me. I woke one night at 2am with an almost complete retinal detachment in my right eye. Total cost of surgery, surgeon, and follow up was >$75,000!! Not complaining because I’m lucky to have functional vision (originally misdiagnosed and untreated for 3 days), and very Grateful, with capital “G”! But without insurance, I’d be destitute right now. ? I’ll cough up the grand and hope like H*** nothing crazy happens.
I’m glad COBRA is available and really, for peace of mind more than anything else, it seems like a good option.
Seems to be the only (affordable) one, so it’s what I’ll get. ??♀️
Won’t be long ’til you’re back on the road again! ?
You have no IDEA how happy I’ll be to be done with this contract!! You may hear me whooping it up over on the eastern seaboard! ?
Rather than finding housing for T-Rex, maybe you can pass her off as a therapy dog at work? I bet she’d be very popular.
I know you’re excited for your Alaska adventure but it sounds a little menacing. Of course, I get excited when I spot bobcats in my back yard. They are so beautiful to look at.
Lucky you to spot bobcats in your backyard! Watch your pets and small children!
T-Rex has no control when it comes to people. This is why I take her everywhere I can in public places. I was at the bookstore last night, talking to a nice lady in cafe section, and T-Rex would NOT hold a down stay! She simply has to get in the middle of any interaction and completely take it over. Not all people like dogs (shocking!), and some are very afraid of dogs, so I *try* to let the person do the approaching if they are interested in petting her. But she can’t seem to control herself. I wish I had thought to take video of it, because she stayed down, but proceeded to crawl under the table, around the bags, and under the chair to get to the person I was talking to. It was kind of hilarious! Met a teenager at the park today who had some level of autism I’m betting, based on the way he interacted with me. But T-Rex won him over in about a New York minute. Next thing you know, he’s down on his knees, she’s rolled over on her back to give him better belly access, and I may as well have been invisible! Lol. He was very hesitant of her (and me for that matter) at first, but he warmed up to her quick. Eventually to me as well, once we started talking about mountain biking and drone flying?
I don’t see Alaska as menacing at all, but I tend to live by being prepared for worst case scenario. I think I have just taken my *on the job* attitude and gradually applied it to my life over time. The best way to handle a code situation it to do whatever you can to prevent it. I like being proactive rather than reactive. ?
Ormonde Woman in the morning, Now wearing some vintage Jil Sander 4. Tested a tshirt Pattern today, which came out nice. And sewed a Child tshirt from scraps. Will give it to my neighbour….
Georgian kidney bean salad for dinner, a recipe testing, turned out really good.
Wow, you’ve smelled wonderful all day!
I’m having a frustrating time at work these days, I’m busy doing lots of small things that are important and urgent, but with no time to tackle the big things. I think the classic approach of Mitsouko will help 🙂
Hope work gets less stressful soon!
Ugh, getting pecked to death by ducks, it sounds like.
So true. Ducks can be demanding!
Saving my Heeley for Friday, so no points for me today … but I smell great in Le Temps d’Une Fete. 🙂
I haven’t decided which H to wear!
SotD is New York, by Nicolai
I am wearing Faubourg 24, I found it this weekend at a Garage sale.
I don’t have anything to eat at home, I think I will order a Pizza or Uber eats and then hosting a meeting at my house later.
Nice garage sale!!
Seconding this!
Goutal Bois d’Hadrien. The opening is bright citrus, the woods are quite nice but this goes to skin scent quite quickly – and I have it in EDP. Just 30ml though so at least I didn’t make a huge commitment to it.
Maybe more is more?
Was sampling HM pour homme edt from Hanae Mori but it was making my eyes water so now it’s washed off
What did you wear next?
Wow that HM pour Homme sounds incredibly potent!
Jasmin Perle du Thé for me today. A very pleasant scent, if I do say.
Enjoyed Avengers and didn’t need to even go to the bathroom during. Made it through just fine. Just made a point of ignoring my soda until about 45 minutes were left….
Off to my knitting group in a little while. Two men’s hats plus a scarf/hat combo for a woman. I’m behind in the hats for men, so it’s my focus the next few weeks.
Knitting! Judging by my track record with cross-stitching which is much easier than knitting, I have not attempted knitting. Both my sisters knit. One of them made a scarf with an opening ~ 3 inches from the bottom of one end to loop the other end through once the scarf is around the neck. We all wanted one and by luck, I got a blue green combo which I posted on IG on Feb 24.
Nice! Pretty colors.
I decided to follow the link for Ishiro Honda, and was rather pleased to see that he had directed some of the old classic Godzilla movies. Those used to scare the living daylights out of me as a kid, but now I find them great entertainment to unwind with.
More blue skies here today! I will do my best to try and send this lovely weather on to folks who are stuck under the grey, cold and wet. ☔
SOTD = Silences EdP. from the sample stash. This sample has been enjoyed very much, and is getting low. Thanks again to the NSTer who sent me this beauty!
Oh how I loved Godzilla movies! Did you ever watch Ultra Man or Jonny Socko and his flying robot?
Believe it or not, I did not know about Ultraman until a couple of years ago. There is a new anime based on the original live action series airing in Japan that looks really amazing. I had to Google Jonny Socko… never even heard about that one!
I was also a Janie-come-lately to the Speed Racer anime.
Speed Racer, probably my first true love ❤
And I would not know his name except that my son took a class last year on Japanese pop culture and I watched some of the movies with him…
Mother and son bonding over Japanese pop culture – ❤️❤️❤️
That’s awesome!
You smell nice and we also got the good weather in these here parts!
Thanks! Glad to hear that the weather gods were nice to you today, too. ?
PSA for Van Cleef and Arpel people: fragrance net has Neroli Amara and Rose Rouge priced at around 55 dollars right now. Both from the Extrodinaire collection. No affiliation.
I never even saw Rose Rouge at Bergdorfs and now already discounted! Must resist!
I know! But I figured I’d better mention it before they raised the price. Sorry!?
LOL. I will take a peek…just a teeny tiny one.
Well, maybe you can find a large sample. ?
Lancome Magie Noire
Crazy day again so I’m unwinding with a couple sprays of Lush Big. Just what I need tonight; a no-brainer.
This is like their Big Shampoo if you are familiar with it; kind of a bwf. It looks like I got this in 2012 when they had their Forum specials around Halloween; I don’t think Lush does those anymore.
Scent this evening: twins with madtowngirl in Assam of India.
Mine was a good day — I saw a presentation about bird watching at lunch time. It was more aimed at beginners, but the presenter’s Power Point slides worked, and he had some lovely pictures of the birds he was talking about. I could identify a number of the common birds of the area that he showed, except for those that bird watchers refer to as “little brown jobs” and and the warblers. I’m sure I’ve *heard* warblers now and then, but I haven’t seen them. I recognized the more colorful of the birds that come in winter to eat birdseed and suet . 🙂
Before and after that, I did errands and shopping, so it was a productive day, too.
SotD = Assam of India + a light dusting of Oud al Sahraa
My quest for scent simplicity continues with AofI on Tea for Tuesday. The little bit of Oud is nice, i like it better mixed than straight up. 😉
Hope everyone had a fantabulous day full of fragrant fun. My day was nutso, but hey, it’s over.
My Tuesday SOTD was Tom Ford’s White Suede. I like it, but I wouldn’t pay its retail price!
