Happy Twice as Nice Friday! (It's also Dutch-American Friendship Day and Bicycle Day.) Our community project for today: wear a fragrance that you've purchased more than once (a scent that you used up and bought again, or a scent for which you've already got a backup bottle). If you don't have such a fragrance, wear the scent you'd be most likely to rebuy. Thanks go to thegoddessrena for the idea!
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Hermès Osmanthe Yunnan. I said when I reviewed it that I did not need 100 ml of anything and wished I'd waited for the 15 ml sizes to go on sale, but as it turned out, that 100 ml bottle disappeared faster than any other perfume I've ever bought. It helps that it is light, and short lived, and that I adore the top notes. Anyway, it's been replaced with a 15 ml.
Reminder: on 4/26 we're doing edition 4 of the picture challenge, part 1. Wear a perfume that matches the picture, which is Georgia O'Keeffe's My Shanty. You can read more about the painting here and here. There is a short bit on her time at Lake George here. (This is part 1 because we are going to do another O'Keeffe later in the year.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Robin, you smell great!
I’m going commando today because I’m flying, but I would have worn Wood Sage and Sea Salt if I’d had it with me. I can’t wait to read everyone’s choices today!
That’s such a good one!
Thank you sistine, and hope you had a great flight!
Safe travels! ✈
For once I am participating in the CP!
I took out from storage Guerlain L’instant especially for today – I normally wait until the temps are in the 60s to wear this because it really blooms in the warmth.
This is by far my favorite Guerlain. I find it incredibly easy to wear and versatile as both daytime and nighttime appropriate.
My 30 ml bottle is about 70 percent drained so I ordered another one on discount last night because I am worried that the old bottle will become scarce. I really really dislike the bee bottle aesthetic and find the original bottle profile so darn cute and elegant at once. Which about sums up how I feel this scent is in general.
The original L’Instant bottle really was gorgeous, and the L’Homme bottle was pretty much the perfect example of the men’s and women’s bottles being obviously related while retaining their own individuality.
I have never sniffed the homme version but do like the bottle too
One of my birthday purchases on the discount site was L’Instant (I went with the bee bottle!). It really is a gorgeous scent. Now I’ll have to try it when it really warms up again!
I am glad you share the love for this one!
I am in my most re-purchased perfume – Hermes Un Jardin sur le Nil. I lost count of all the bottles and decants I purchased. From 7.5 travel spray to 50 ml full bottle. Currently finishing a 20 ml decant, but I have a back-up bottle – 30/100 partial.
A beautiful scent and my first Hermes, a few years ago now.
You know, come to think of it, it’s probably my first Hermes too. 🙂
You smell great! I have been trying to decide if I will buy another bottle of the body milk — I actually ended up wearing that more than the fragrance.
In wore this quite a bit and eventually got tired of it and gave it away. Also, someone who took the same train I did wore it at nuclear levels which didn’t help.
I took some breaks from Un Jardin sur le Nil, but I keep coming back to it.
Yeah…. I know that sometimes smelling too much of a scent on other people just ruins it for you. This winter I kept getting massive amounts (or at least it felt like massive amounts) of Montale/Mancera oud scents from someone (maybe even from different people). As a result, I have already given away my decant of Black Aoud and am going to give away the decant of Aoud Cafe.
You smell fantastic!
I chose my old friend Gucci EDP (the dark juice in the heavy clear bottle) for the CP. I’m on my third (small) FB, but have actually purchased a fourth – one of the men I work with was so taken with the scent that I gave him a small bottle I’d ordered to give to his wife, and ordered a replacement for myself. One of these days it’s going to become difficult to find, and at that point I’ll be very sad.
Is this the square bottle (glass looks dark, too?) with fruity opening, patchy base? I get really confused by all the Guccis.
No, this is the orange-blossom-with-cumin (and other dark spices) fragrance in the very heavy but clear glass bottle. Annoying of Gucci to name so many things with the same name. 🙂
Right! Thanks.
Smelling fantastic today!
I thought about that one for today. I love it so much. You smell great!
I am commando and just woke up from sleeping 17 hours.
Wow!
Feeling a bit better but not well enough for perfume.
Bottles I have back up bottles for
Coco
Songes
Bottles I have repurchased:
Coco mademoiselle
Omnia and the flanker crystalline
Obsession by CK
Sorry that your malady is lingering but glad you are a bit refreshed. Like your two top choices very much!
Than you!
Poor you! I hope you’ve turned the corner.
Geez me too..its been a week!
Hope the sleep was helpful, you must have really needed it!
Nice to see mention of Omnia Crystalline, it’s a summer staple along with Bulgari White Tea and I’ve repurchased both. Bvlgari has some great stuff.
I haven’t smelled Crystalline in 10 years…how is it?
The same?
I got a bottle of Omnia from the swap and it rekindled all these memories and I am sorry that Omnia and I divorced many years ago because I am shocked that it’s discontinued. I stopped wearing it when all my friends around me fell in love with it and started wearing it also. I am glad we are re-united
My current bottle is at least 8 years old but it smells the same as my earlier one. Fresh and cool without being aquatic or floral. The original Omnia is gorgeous and yes it’s crazy it was discontinued 🙁
Hopefully you’ll be back among perfume-wearing gang in no time!
Sorry you are still unwell. But 17 hours of sleep seem to indicate that you are recovering!
I hope the sleep helps.
In May of 2010 I was in Paris (for one day!) and of course made a pilgrimage to the Palais Royale, where I bought bell jars of Serge Lutens Fumerie Turque and Fourreau Noir, which of course I hardly ever wore because I was afraid of contaminating them (I put some into travel sprays, once, but never refilled them for no good reason).
A few years later in Montréal, when I was in the bad habit of buying one Lutens at Ogilvy every time I visited, I bought Fourreau Noir *again*, this time the Vapo Tout Noir: my reasoning was that I would use up one of the 30-mL sprays and refill it from the bell jar, although of course I was just using that as an excuse to buy my annual Lutens.
That didn’t exactly happen, as I’m nowhere near the bottom of the first of the sprays, but the bell jar is still in perfect condition and thanks to the spray I wear Fourreau Noir a fair bit, because that combination of lavender and black licorice is irresistible. Today is a grim steely sort of day — it’s going to rain thoughout the entire long weekend! — and FN is a perfect fit.
You smell perfect!
Just in case you’re looking for someone to sell or swap a 5 ml decant of FN, I’m your gal ;).
You smell great! I bought two of those Fourreau Noir vapo sets. Dark and rainy here in Montréal too.
Prada Amber Pour Homme, I’m going through my second 100ml bottle of it.
That is worth going through the ml 🙂
I am wearing Annick Goutal Nuit Etoilee. I first tried this scent from a small sample and was instantly smitten . Then I purchased a large decant, which I promptly used. Now I am the happy owner of two bottles of Nuit Etoilee. One is the rounded bottle with gold cap which is half full. My second bottle is newly purchased and is the square shaped bottle with tall gold cap.
I’m curious if you noticed any difference between your bottles?
No difference 🙂
I love the edp of Nuit Étoilée, so glad to have gotten two of the pretty round fluted blue glass bottles before the packaging changed.
I like the the edp, but LOVE the edt version.
I agree on the bottle design. I am not sure why they changed their packaging?
I went with Jour Ensolleile. SSS is a house with multiple scents I’ve bought multiple times (it helps that she sold small sizes).
You smell great! I bought several travel sprays of JE and luckily ordered a bottle shortly before she closed.
Wish I had a bottle of that one. I have a travel spray, though, which I’m hoarding….
Ohhhh, I adore Jour Ensolleile, one of my favorites from Sonoma Scent Studio. That perfume reminds me of my first year in California. I spent a lot of time in Sonoma and Calistoga at a friend’s house surrounded by horses, walnut trees and the gorgeous rolling hills.
Jour Ensolleile (for me) perfectly captures Northern CA in the fall. Simply gorgeous.
My most purchased scent is Pacifica Sandalwood (RIP). Currently I have a tin of the solid perfume and a rollerball in rotation, plus I have an untouched backup of the solid perfume. I also have a candle in the same scent that I’ve been hoarding.
Oh, and I touched up with a dab of Sarabecca Neroli oil, which I’ve also repurchased. Bonus points!
It is a real bummer that they stopped focusing on fragrance! Enjoy your stash.
Eeek! I originally read this as Enjoy your trash ?
Ha!
It’s unfortunate that Pacifica also stopped making shower gels. They were excellent quality, IMO.
Yeah. I think what they’re making now is mostly geared at people who are younger than I am.
L’Heure Bleue for me. Which I will continue to repurchase until the end of time. Or, you know, bankruptcy. Whichever comes first.
Twins! I love many Guerlains but LHB and Shalimar are the ones I wear most and have replaced numerous times.
Hi twin! We smell great!
HA! I like the way you are thinking 😉
Never let your budget get in the way!
Today I’m in B*Men, totally messing up the week’s poll! I’m using my only bottle, which I blind bought! It’s really lovely though a bit quiet.
If I wasn’t going through my collection for a different perfume each day, I would have picked my most-backed-up perfume, Byzance. I have 2x 100ml EdT, 1x 100ml EdP, and 1x 50ml. May seem nuts but I’ve spent less of those for bottles than one lists for on eBay! Doesn’t hurt that I totally love it and wear it to bed a lot.
I love Byzance and have several backups too!
Ha, glad I’m not the only one!
Byzance is a great one!
I am back in Grandiflora Queen of the Night today because I don’t have very many options with me here in the rehab center. But I’m hoping to go home next Monday! Today we are moving Mom over into the assisted living side of this place where she’ll have a nice, newly refurbished room on the 2nd floor with a lovely garden view. I hope this transition will go as smoothly as possible for her in her present confused state.
Were I at home, I’d be wearing Mitsouko, one of the few perfumes for which I’ve bought a back-up bottle, because, well, it’s Mitsouko, of course!
Good luck with that move!
I’ll bet you will be so happy to be home on Monday! It’s been a while, hasn’t it?
Yes, a full month or more, and I truly miss my kitties. They have been well cared for but I’m pretty sure they missed me too.
I hope your mom’s transition and yours to home all goes smoothly!
Best wishes to both you and your mom! It’s been a rough month.
Wishing the very best for both you and your mom on your journey forward.
Congrats on heading home soon! Your mom’s view sounds lovely. I hope she enjoys it.
Good luck with all of it Calypso! You’ve really been through the wringer.
Glad things are looking up for you! I share your love of Mitsouko.?
You smell good and I’m glad you will have recovered enough to go home on Monday. Best wishes for mom’s move to assisted living.
Best wishes for both moves! I hope that your mom likes the assisted living facility. That’s a big shift for the both of you.
Good morning, and Happy FriYAY per my usual weekend greeting! 🙂
The ONLY backup I have of any fragrance is my beloved Clinique Aromatics Elixir, but unfortunately it is NOT approved at the office. It reminds the Perfume Grinch of his 8th grade algebra teacher, which is not a good memory for reasons he hasn’t elaborated on….LOL
Soooooo, in the spirit of the challenge, I decided to go with a perfume house that I always go back to again and again. I’m wearing Sarah Jessica Parker Stash Unspoken. I tend to enjoy just about any scent that SJP offers. Stash Unspoken is a softer version of the original Stash (that I also love). Good stuff! The only exception to my SJP rule is her NYC scent….the strawberry note goes wonky on my skin! 🙂
FriYAY!! 😀
House Twins! But i wore Covet
Covet is such a good one too! You smell great!
Osmanthe Yunnan is wonderful and I can imagine it going quickly – that’s one of the few I think I could spray 10 times!
I had a few plans for the CP but I ended up only sideways-participating. Here’s what happened. I was going to either wear Omnia (of which I bought several BUBs in my early days of perfuming, when it was discontinued and I didn’t realize how slowly I use perfume) or Cabochard (which I have tons of but can never resist rescuing the cheap ones that sometimes turn up at estate sales.)
But then I started thinking about how I have literally NEVER used up an entire bottle of perfume, not even the 100ml of M&B Green green green and green which I’ve had for maybe 15 years and which was one of my first ever perfume purchases and which I wore multiple sprays of every day for a year or two. And then I realized I had to wear that today. It is down to maybe 2 ml now so there’s some hope that I will use it up! And based on how much I am enjoying it today I will indeed have to replace it (it also garnered the rare husband compliment).
But mostly this week has reinforced my belief that it’s foolish of me ever to buy more than 10 ml of anything!
You’re so close!! Get it thunked!
You know, I’m not normally into thunking as a goal – I like having a collection! – but since I have vague plans to move overseas in a year or two it has become more appealing. Some serious winnowing will be necessary.
I normally don’t think about it, but when something gets low I can’t help but get excited about it. It’s so satisfying.
Oooo where to? Forever or temporarily?
Same here — 10 ml is just about right. And I only managed to run through that much OY because when I bought it, my collection was smaller.
I am wearing Alien leather version. My most purchased perfume. I do not have any back up bottles, but currently have 8 variations of Alien. I started collecting/hoarding them after I missed out on getting the Saphir version and am still kicking myself for talking myself out of it. It was a beautiful orange version of Alien. I do wear all of the one’s I have . My favorites depend on my mood, but the leather one is a constant love.
Yes lillyjo, I purchased multiple bottles of M7.
Smart man!
Lillyjo: Eight variations of Alien? Wow. Which is your most-loved or worn?
Alien is such a beloved shape shifter. One of these days I’ll need to branch out and try other versions.
My top 3 that I have are, Parfum de Cuir, Taste of Fragrance, which is a carmely alien, and eau Sublime, which is a sunny lemony version. I love the Absolute, but that could almost be a stand alone perfume, imo. Of course, I still love the original.
Oh wow, Caramel Alien? Now I’m sorely tempted to look for a bottle!
I adore the original, never thought I would but it’s such a beauty. And a little odd-duckie which appeals to me.
I didn’t even know Alien had that many variations! Nice!
I think there is probably about twenty. I don’t want to have them all, just the ones I really like. The Flora Futura and extrodinaire were big nos for me. I had sunessence, but gifted it to a dear friend who loved it more than me. Some, I’ve never been able try.
The leather version of Alien has the coolest bottle, doesn’t it?
It sure does, I love the little pouch too!
I went with Opardu because I’ve continually repurchased decants or travel sprays. Whatever I can find. I only have a few backup bottles and they are mostly winter scents. My only other contender is Equistrius. It was on sale at Min NY and they sent me two 50 ml bottles. (I only paid for one) I did email them to correct the mistake but they never responded. Since it wasn’t a deliberate repurchase so it didn’t qualify for the cp.
Lucky mistake on the Equistrius!
Opardu is a beauty but I imagine my decant will last me a while (if it doesn’t evaporate!) because I dab it.
Haven’t been able to drop by in a while — I’ve missed youse guys! 😀
Not in the cp today: trying out Theorema Esprit d’Ete from a lovely NSTer (as was the Kate Walsh Boyfriend I wore to bed last night) — thank you so much!
Wishing everyone a peaceful and pleasant weekend —
We miss you, too! Happy to see you enjoying!
Nice to see you! And Esprit d’Ete is lovely. That and Boyfriend are wonderful bed time scents. 🙂
Good to hear from you! I hope that things have been going well.
After about a 15 year hiatus, for memory’s sake I bought a second-hand bottle off eBay a couple of years ago of my 90s power suit accompaniment–Escada’s Margaretha Ley. So technically this must be my third or fourth bottle. I hardly ever wear this final purchase, but I give it a sniff now and then to take me down memory lane– or from 75th up to 89th along B’way in Manhattan (or from Citarella’s to Zabars, and then on up to our old 5th floor walk-up on 89th (reportedly a few doors down from the former home of Typhoid Mary).
So that is what I am wearing today, Margaretha Ley in all its 90s glory.
beautiful memory
I knew that area extraordinaryly well as my old dance studio was on 80th and Broadway across from Zabars….I spent much of my childhood and teenager years there. There was also a bagel ship below the dance studio and a deli that sold Tigers Balm which was much needed for our sore muscles.
I also remember the Escada as I had a bottle of that one myself.
Shop not ship
Are you talking about H&H Bagels, which used to be around 80th? The best bagels in the world, hands down, my H&H RIP!
Yes!!!!! What?? They are gone??? Gosh I haven’t been in that area in about 20 or more years.. on my bucket list is to go back to Manhattan and spend days walking the streets of my old haunts …lots and lots of walking…
Since 2011 🙁 ! It was run by two Puerto Rican brothers and I think ran into all sorts of financial snafus that eventually forced it to shutter.
https://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2011/06/pop-culture-history-hh-bagels/352012/
Thank you for that link!!! What a shame that it closed. Definitely the best bagels around. And my dance studio was literally above the bagel shop!! There was also a Fayva Shoe store across the street on the other side of Broadway that I used to love popping into… I know that company has also gone out of business.
The sourdough bagels were my favorite. Ever! RIP
I’m not participating today – I’m in a spray of Apres La Mousson (from a fun swapmeet swap) and a spritz of Voyage– an unintentional mixture, however, I think they go well together.
I don’t really do back-up bottles, but was a bit surprised to find that I have more Reglisse Noire than I remembered – a 50 ml bottle plus several small bottles. I’m pleased to be supporting an indie perfumer and it is in my top 10, but I wouldn’t say it’s number 1 (that spot seems continually in flux). If a fire destroyed my fragrances, what would I rebuy? This requires some serious thought. : D
Ooh interesting thought experiment. Maybe a good topic for a weekend poll!
Noooooo stooooop what a horrible thought!!!
Ha – agreed, but it makes me look at my collection in a different and thought-provoking way…
Agree, it is a horrible thought. Some of the perfumes I have can’t be replaced. I’m not going to spend $$$$$ on eBay.
Can you imagine explaining to an insurance agent how priceless your collection is???
Bletch. I’d rather not. Just my luck, I would end up with someone who thought that perfume was frivolous. ?
Reglisse is in my top three…and thanks to Portia and AnnieA of Australian Perfume Junkies and my husband I now have two old bottles and two new bottles.
I’ve thought about the fire scenario as well – if I were to start from scratch there are very few I would repurchase, probably only 3% of my current collection.
Oh, very nice poll idea! I’m with cazaubon, MANY would not get replaced. Best decision I ever made (regarding perfume, anyway) was to not buy anything larger than 30 ml — wish I’d had that rule to begin with.
Tocca Colette was the closest I had to a signature before really getting obsessed with perfume (not counting the Britney Spears Fantasy I was devoted to in high school), and since then, I haven’t gotten through much of anything fast enough to repurchase it. So Colette it is!
I used to wear and repurchase the same few scents when I was younger. It would be very unusual for me to finish a bottle now. I did just recently repurchase a scent I wore in my 20s but I don’t have it yet.
It’s been years since I actually finished a bottle! The closest I’ve gotten is travel sprays.
Colette is the only Tocca I found really interesting, so you smell great.
Thank you!
Chanel 19.
Backstory: A 1/3 full bottle of Hanae Mori Butterfly stood neglected and alone atop my vanity for the last, oh, nearly two decades? Then two months ago I wandered into an Atelier Cologne boutique, came away with a sample, and was Infected.
FFW to now: so many samples they’re logged in a spreadsheet, I refuse to tally my purchases, and I now have a Fragrance category in my Feedly. (Is there a cure? Do I want one?)
Way back in 1990, though, my 15 year old self had these: Chanel 19, Shalimar, Samsara and LouLou.
So back to the 19. Since the Infection I’ve accumulated, all vintage: 2 bottles EDT, 1 bottle EDC, 2 bottles parfum. Are they still good? I… think so? My scent menory isn’t perfect… nor is my nose very advanced… The newer bottle and color just don’t match my memories.
Very sophisticated and elegant choices for your 15 yr old self! My grandparents gave me a bottle of Shalimar around that age, and I didn’t appreciate it back then like I do now! 🙂
I had to fan myself with all this talk of No.19!
I have a fragrance in my Feedly too 😀
Do tell if you’ve found some new favorites!
Probably nothing you don’t know about here! But this is my Feedly list: now smell this (obvs), Blois de Jasmin ,Colognoisseur , EauMG, Perfume Posse, Perfume Shrine, Persolaise, Smelly Blog, The Black Narcissus, The Scented Hound.
I would have to say that the scent I have purchased more than several times and also have back-up bottles is Hermes Hiris, which I bought when it first launched and I still love it.
Oh Hiris, you smell delicate and lovely, I recently purchased after waiting so long, I finally won a full 100ml blue bottle (for only £31).
You smell wonderful. My bottle of Hiris is almost gone and I’m sure I’ll buy another. I can’t imagine being without it.
Happy Friday all! My SOTD is Eau des Merveilles by Hermes. This is one scent I have repurchased (and received as a gift) several times over.
It has a perfect balance of woods and salty notes yet it’s warm and soft.
You smell great! I think my most complicated perfume relationship is with EdM, I have purchased, swapped and repurchased more than one bottle. I’m currently without at the moment but have been considering getting a decant ? love it on others, just never sure how much I like it on my skin.
Yes, ditto! I think we even swapped once and you sent me a decant and I still have a bit. I want to love this one, but not sure about how well it works on me.
Thanks Ringthing! Funny how scents we’re on the fence about, others tend to love on us. I wonder if the weather also impacts how much you enjoy it?
I adore Boyfriend and Creed’s Fleurs Bulgarie, but I can’t wear them near my face, those are best worn/sprayed at the knees or lower back.
Eau des merveilles is one of two bottles I think I will ever need to replace, I have a 30 ml bottle, that’s half empty now. It just makes me happy, one of my first loves as a perfumista.
I think the one time I tried Eau des Merveilles on skin, it puzzled me a LOT! I just couldn’t quite wrap my head around what I was smelling.
It was a tough choice today. I have quite a few favorites that I have backups. Went with Jicky today. I have two vintage bottles and a bottle of the current stuff.
Oh Jicky, the smell of legend. Do you have them in EDT or EDP?
Vintage Jicky is glorious. I love the parfum de toilette (1980’s) version.
My vintage bottles are the early nineties and the EDT version. The current version is the EDP.
Thank you Dawn, I have been curious about the current EDP.
I’ve recently fallen hard for Jicky, the current EDP. I’d smelled it before but found it heavy and powdery, smothering. Not sure what concentration I was smelling. Somehow that dense powdery texture doesn’t bother me in the current EDP. It’s an energetic, happy fragrance, cheerfully unisex, and the way im blowing through my current bottle, I reckon a repurchase will be on the cards. It helps that it can be sprayed lavishly.
I’m eating a lemon donut but wearing Orange Sanguine. I have a 1/3 full 200ml bottle that I bought used, and then at Goodwill I found a gift set with a 30ml, a leather case monogrammed “GTM 2015” and the body lotion. I think I paid $15. GTM’s loss is my gain, as I’ve never regretted my backup of this lovely orange.
What a fabulous find!
Lemon donut -my mouth is watering. I love lemon based desserts
My Goodwill never has ANY fragrance! Congrats on your lucky find (and GTM’s loss?) 🙂
Ouch! Relationship breakup I reckon. GTM wanted to kick some memories out the door.
Congrats on your Goodwill find!
Wearing Coco today. I’ve told my story of my first bottle of Coco and it’s role in meeting my husband many times so I’ll spare you guys, but this is my most worn and repurchased scent since it was first introduced. Said husband has bought me a few bottles over the years and I’m always on the alert for vintage. Have a great weekend everyone!
But I do love those stories – how perfume plays a role in our lives. Fascinating and fun. ♥
I haven’t heard the story – do re-tell!
I told it below 🙂
Coco is on my list!
Echoing yasmina–I don’t know the story, so please do retell!
Well, ok. In the early 80s, I was living in Houston and waitressing at a steak house. One day I stopped in at Foley’s department store (RIP) to look at shoes and there was a display for Chanel’s new fragrance, Coco. I loved it instantly – I was already familiar with No. 19 and No. 5 – but since I was living alone far from home, I definitely couldn’t afford a new bottle of Chanel perfume. Not too long afterwards, I waited on a table of guys in the oil industry who were regulars where I worked, it was someone’s birthday and they came in for a boozy lunch and left me a hundred dollar tip. As soon as my shift was over, I drove straight to Foley’s and bought my bottle of Coco! That night, I went to a party at a friend’s house and met my husband. Corny as it sounds, our eyes really did meet across a crowded room and after we introduced ourselves, the first thing he did was compliment my perfume. It was love at first sight, for Coco and for each other. We married shortly afterwards and have been married thirty-five years this year…..never underestimate the power of perfume 😉
Oh my goodness, ringthing, that’s so adorable! I love that story, and congrats on a long and happy marriage!
(Is it sacrilege to suggest you might have fallen for each other even if you hadn’t been wearing Coco? Yes, probably; I’ll retract that right away!)
Oh wow what an amazing story! I love it. Thanks for sharing 🙂
That’s a beautiful story. Congrats on 35 years with your hubs too!
What a wonderful story! The stars were obviously aligned that night. Thank you for sharing.
I had not heard this tale either and I’m so glad you told it again because it makes the heart to glow!
What a fabulous story! As romantic as it gets. Here’s to 35 more years!
I love this story! I must have missed you telling it before.
What a fabulous story.
I don’t think I’ve heard this before either – love it!!! Worth telling again (and again).
Great story, thanks for sharing and congratulations to you and your husband!
I love everything about this story!
Oh what a wonderful story! Thank you so much for sharing!
What a wonderful story!
A wonderful story. I’m sitting here smiling!
Oh, what a great story! I’m so glad you told it again here, ringthing. I’ve adored Coco from the time it was introduced. My mother loved it, too, so I’ve bought it more for her than for myself. 🙂
Congrats on your happy union!
Thank you for sharing that awesome story! I don’t recall ever seeing it before.
What a wonderful story! Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful story !
Hello from the beach at Scheveningen, where I have polished off a glass of Greek white wine and a dish of garlic-infused olives. A 2nd glass is on its way. :^)
Back in the day I had 7 perfumes I wore in rotation and replaced as needed – mostly Hugo Boss, plus Czech & Speake 88, JPG “Le Male” and Davidoff Cool Water. Then I discovered proper perfumes. :^D
SOTD is Amouage “Interlude Man”, the last of a sample from De Bijnkorf in The Hague, and a perfume I have had several decants and samples of over the years. I would have worn it last Friday as my platonic ideal, had I been well enough. From the initial burst of juicy lime to the hours of incense ash, this perfume makes me feel more myself and I love it.
What is the Greek white wine…
Perhaps this could be my cure for my cold..
Can you pass me a virutual glass?
Hi Lovestosmellgood, it was Moschofilero, a wine I’d never heard of before so had to try it.
https://www.semeliestate.gr/wine/giorti-white/
I had 2 glasses so you can finish the bottle for me. ;^)
Wow… you are bringing back memories for me. When I was 10/11, we lived in The Hague. So, I remember going to Scheveningen, and I also remember shopping at De Bijnkorf. In fact, I still remember the collapsible umbrella I bought there, which I had through college until it was destroyed one very windy, rainy day in Sausalito, CA. Enjoy your day!
The De Bijnkorf building is really something, full on state-of-the-art modernity from the year 1926. I loved the panelled staircases with the jewel-coloured stained glass panels. The panel from the menswear floor has a sports theme, polo, tennis, fast cars 1926-style… amazing :^)
When the weather is good, the beach is wonderful, it is so wide and long. It’s actually a better beach than my beloved Malaga, but of course in Malaga we can use the beach almost every day. The beach clubs in Scheveningen are all open from this weekend, so I expect to enjoy a few sunset wines between now and the end of June.
Those garlic-infused olives sound delicious! Could also be considered a cold remedy if there is enough garlic present. ?
Every so often I go on ebay and see if there’s an affordable bottle of Haie Fleurie du Hameau. I think I have now rescued 5 bottles which, given the size of my collection and the fact that I’m a light spritzer, means that I have enough for the next 40 years.
Was thinking about what a nice set of livable perfumes I have if I only count what I’ve bought more than once–Milk of Flowers, Haie Fleurie, Terracotta Le Parfum, Indigo Vanille, Safran Troublant, Sideris, Amun Re:The Tears of Ra, Carpathian Oud, Inoui, Gardenia Batik, White Shoulders, Rosa Sur Reuse, Sacrebleu, and Santal Exotique
The most beautiful jasmine ever.
Ivoire.
I remember buying bottles of this at Marshall’s for $14.99 each. Now you’re lucky if you can find one on ebay for under $100!
My current bottle is a vintage splash EDT in the original box. Doubt I’ll ever find another! And I refuse to try the reformulated version…
I have several backup minis of vintage Ivoire, which is IMO the saddest reformulation. You can still find them on ebay for a good price sometimes, don’t despair!
I really cherish my bottle of Ivoire! Thanks for the reminder.
Great choice: I have BUBs of Ivoire but finished my extrait recently (thunk), it is a unique perfume.
You smell lovely, SarahN. Ivoire was a fantastic scent, and I hoarded a few bottles of the vintage stuff when it was still cheap on eBay. And the parfum bottle design is magnificent.
That is one bottle that I will always have in my collection. Lots of good memories associated with my Ivoire.
Shalimar, obviously. It’s the only one I have more than one bottle of- albeit different iterations (edp, edt, edc, and Light). So do I get partial credit?
I’m so glad it’s Friday. It’s been so crazy at work the past couple of weeks, I really need a weekend.
You are smelling fabulous, Kelly! Having different versions gives you options?
Hope you enjoy your weekend.
Every iteration of Shalimar is wonderful ❤️
Crazy at work needing a weekend twin!
Also, you smell like you-great!
I’m wearing PdN Neroli Intense which I bought in Feb and only have about 3ml remaining, but I have a backup waiting in the wings.
The only other backup I have is Idylle Love Blossom which maybe was premature since I haven’t worn it as much this year- the 10 or so ml left will probably take me a year to finish. But it was inexpensive and is discontinued, so no huge regrets.
I think the only bottle I’ve ever finished in my life was Hanae Mori (butterfly) in the 90s, but I didn’t replace it. I bought Hanae M Magical Moon instead which I ended up giving away at some point. I kind of wish I’d kept it- it was a great cobalt glass bottle!
Googling what that bottle looks like..
It had a heavy glass cap which was great, too. I’d love to smell it again but I think it gave me a headache…
I have a bottle of that (Magical Moon) and also love it for the bottle, mores than the scent. Not only is the cobalt pretty but so are the designs on it.
You’re lucky to still have it! Do you wear it ever, or just keep it for the bottle? I remember sampling Kilian’s Moonlight in Heaven and thinkng it reminded me of Magical Moon.
I haven’t been down this rabbit hole long enough (only 5 years or so) to have needed to repurchase anything; and I’ve been diligently evicting my BUBs once I realized how seldom I re-wear a scent in a year; so I’m down to only a few duplicates (I think; I could be wrong about that… #toomuchperfume) Anyway, I think my only current BUBs are Armani Prive Bois d’Encens, VCA California Reverie, DK Black Cashmere, and Dior Bois d’Argent. Which I do not intend to evict as all of these are consistently in my personal top 10. Well I may evict one of the Bois d’Argent bottles since my BUB is the 250ml size (WHAT WAS I THINKING??? oh right, fear-of-reformulation panic. sigh.)
But I’m not wearing any of those, because I had a hankering for AG Le Chevrefeuille. Mmmm, honeysuckle!
I need to start divesting myself of backups as well. There is no way I will ever get to them.
That AG is soooo pretty!
My re-purchasing days are mostly in the past: there were several perfumes that I repeatedly bought and finished, but now I have too many perfumes to finish any of them. I do have several long-time favorites for which I have a BU bottle or which are my N-th bottle of that perfume, but most of them do not fit my mood today. But I found one!
Miss Dior parfum (original, vintage): in one form or other it has been in my life from my early childhood, and I still love and wear it. And keep a grudge against Dior for stealing its name.
I have a small decant of Ms Dior vintage and it is so lovely
That’s the only vintage scent I love! I discovered Miss Dior parfum in my very early perfume rabbit hole days, and when I found a scent called Miss Dior at a perfume shop, I was so excited. I sniffed it and was HORRIFIED. Where was that furry chypre? What were all these light, powdery flowers doing there??? Anyway then I learned about the name changes and such, and got annoyed at Dior for the name theft, and now I have a little bottle of the vintage parfum that I adore and should wear more.
Hmmmmm methinks we need to get you smelling more vintage perfumes… this can’t be the ONLY one (see upthread about vintage Ivoire!)
I think you are probably right! I have never smelled your beloved vintage Ivoire 🙂 I have not smelled vintage much, but most vintage perfumes I HAVE smelled seem to contain vintage-ade, a kind of musty oakmoss chypre something that gives me a headache and confounds the other notes. I don’t know why IFRA banned the use of oakmoss and such, but if it’s because they were giving people headaches, I bet I am a beneficiary of the IFRA-induced shifts 🙂
Agreeing with Regina that you ought to sniff vintage Ivoire if you can. I will say that I smell plenty of galbanum and oakmoss in the bottle that I have. I don’t get anything musty, though.
Miss Dior is so beautiful !
Wow, Baoshan looks gorgeous. I’d like to be there and not here. My head is discombobulated with stress. Maybe I should close some tabs.
I smell great in Safran Troublant. This is another of those scents where I keep replacing decants and really just need to suck it up and get a bottle (whereupon I’ll stop wearing it and start favoring my other decants >.<). Well, I gave myself about six sprays three hours ago, and it's nearly disappeared already. So. I may need a booster spray of something else later.
Question for swimmers/people who spend a lot of time outdoors: What do you do about your faces?! I've started swimming outdoors a bit again, now that the weather is warming up, and in the past week, my skin has darkened about a dozen shades. That's fine, but my face HURTS after swimming! The skin feels damaged. This is after full-body sunscreen (Aveeno face sunscreen SPF 50, Neutrogena body sunscreen SPF, eh, 70? 100?). What do I do about my face??
Could there be two things going on – Chlorine making your face hurt and maybe the sunscreen isn’t waterproof enough? I think that might be more important than the SPF. Hope you’ll figure it out!
Thanks! In theory it should be water resistant for 80 min (and I swim for ~45 min). Any tips on how to make my skin more chlorine-resistant? I assumed it was some combination of sun damage + chlorine/salt making my skin hurt, but don’t know how to solve the problem 🙁
maybe put some vaseline over the sunscreen ?
Ah, perhaps! Are you concerned that Vaseline might be comedogenic? Have you ever tried it on your face?
I actually think it might be the combo of SPF chemicals and waterproofing chemicals interacting with the pool chemicals. I’ve had that happen. In any event, I use straight up zinc oxide on my face if I go swimming or to the beach. It stays on pretty well and no burn. I also have hyperpigmentation which is my main motivation for using it (and I’m over caring about the spooky white face).
I’m super-bummed to hear you say this, because this has been my suspicion this whole time 🙁
Haha, I’m a brown woman, so spooky white face would look extra spooky on me 🙂 But maybe I’ll look up Kanuka’s clear-ish rec!
Mineral sunscreen. I like the Australian Gold version for faces. It’s tenacious. I have to use a cleansing oil to get it off! ?
Thanks for both suggestions! I’ll try them out 🙂
I second the rec for Australian Gold. And I’m really jealous of your swim time, Koyel! I love to swim and for arthritis it’s unbeatable but the public pools in my area have all closed unless I wish to swim at the local middle school at 5 am ?
Oh bummer, ringthing 🙁 I started swimming a couple years ago when I started having foot problems (plantar fasciitis, broken foot, metatarsal something or other, plantar fasciitis again–yay full circle!), and it’s such a great low-impact exercise. Since I live in CA, my complex has a (nearly full-length! 23 yard!) pool. I definitely wouldn’t have the courage to go swimming at 5am >.< No gyms with pools nearby? (I hit up a 24-Hour Fitness in the winter.)
And Aquaphor is pretty amazing at healing compromised skin barriers.
Like Elisa P i would go with zinc. There is an Australian brand called Invisible Zinc that does a non-white (clearish) zinc. It creates a barrier and doesn’t wash off during swimming.
Thanks! That sounds like a better option for me to try out than the white stuff 🙂 I wonder how they make it clear-ish but still effective.
It’s micronized zinc, so finer particles.
A friend posted a photo of herself at the beach last year wearing a “face-kini” ? It’s basically a ski mask made out of some thin UV blocking material. I’d rather do the white paint, lol.
Ha! I just googled facekini and those are hilarious! So many different designs! I really should have one of those because I am very fair, burn very easily and hate the feel of sunscreen on my face. I doubt my family would want to be seen with me though, lol. Probably just stick with my wide brimmed hats.
OMG that is soooo creepy.
Koyel, when I worked at a water park one summer ages ago, all the lifeguards used a sunscreen called Bullfrog. It was ridiculously tenacious. I never used it personally, though. What I have used a couple of times when I have been at the Jersey Shore is Shiseido’s Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 50+. I can’t sweat that stuff off! The downside to it is the dreaded whitish cast to my face, but vigorously rubbing it in seems to minimize that.
You’ve got tons of recs already, but I think the all physical sunscreen without a whitecast will be tough to find!
This blog article might help (K-beauty blogger who is super sensitive to chemical sunscreens) or give some more ideas, too:
http://www.snowwhiteandtheasianpear.com/2017/07/make-prem-blue-ray-sun-cream.html
Ooh thanks, I’ll have to look into that! Sounds kind of pricey, but maybe worth it? I’ll try out the Australian Bond first, which I’ve already ordered, but if that doesn’t work out, maybe this will!
Wearing Who Knew? on one arm and Bas de Soie on the other. The latter hasn’t been worn nearly as much since I bought several other iris perfumes, but nevertheless just bought a back-up bottle in a now-or-never sort of way.
Yeah…I have so many irises I don’t need a backup of any! Ditto on the vetiver, although I did go through two 15 mls of the Hermes Vetiver Tonka
Bois des Iles vintage edc – it sort of works, because I also have a little decant of the extrait (swoon!!) and I have a decant of the edp coming any day now in the mail. I think this vintage is past its prime – it’s nice, but feels more like a ghost version Chanel 5, and doesn’t much resemble the extrait at all. Unless that’s what it’s supposed to smell like? We’ll see how the edp compares.
Happy Friday!
The extrait is the only one I’ve owned so can’t help with your question, but was going to say that I wish I’d bought two at the time, before sandalwood disappeared!
Wearing Rubj edp. I’ve gone through one 10 ml decant, and am about halfway through another. I will get a full bottle if it ever becomes available again.
Oh, I hope those will reappear.
En Passant. Love this airy lilac.
So lovely!
I pressed repeat today w/ SB Gypsy.
I will be putting on some vintage Poison. i used to wear this years ago and did drain a few bottles if you can believe it.
I spotted a new version and purchased it, but then awhile later I got an ebay deal with 2 vintage bottles. So I’m covered for 10 lifetimes (or more) even if I wear it daily.
Glad you can practically bathe in it 🙂
.. seriously! lol
I drained a bottle of that back in the day too. You smell great!
Thank you! And it’s still going. An absolute powerhouse of a fragrance.
Which version(s) do you have in the vintage?
They are edt, not the esprit. One bottle is marked 30, avenue Hoche. So research shows that to be pre-1990?
I also still have my little green purse atomizer with a refillable purple light cologne insert.
How cool!
Nice!!
Sotd: Shiseido Feminite du Bois!!!
Words can never express my love for the original version of FdB! My backup is a partial bottle. With sparing use, both bottles should get me through my lifetime. ? I also have a bottle of the Luten’s version for more abundant spaying. It is not as deep and woody as the Shiseido, but such is life.
I am in the same situation with FdB.
Very envious of your original FDB find! By the time I fell in love with perfumes, the Shiseido version had become rare enough that all you can find are eBay partial bottles for $300+. I’ve never smelled the original, but I do really love the newer Lutens version (pre recent reformulations, let’s say ca. 2017). One person who had sniffed both told me she prefers the newer version, and that is what I cling to in my Shieseido-less world.
Beautiful choice!
SotD = Terracotta Le Parfum
Terracotta is the only full bottle of perfume I have bought more than once. I still have more than half my first bottle, the second bottle has never been out of the box.
Lesson learned, I don’t need back up bottles of anything other than cologne. I still daydream about having a couple BIG bottles of Chanel Eau de Cologne. And maybe back ups of the Hermessence scents, I’ve made big dents in the few 15 ml bottles I have of those.
Robin, you smell fantastic, the top notes in Osmanthe Yunnan are heavenly. I also love Iris Ukiyoe and Vanille Galante. Oh! I just remembered I do have two 15 ml bottles of VG. 😀
Yay for Dutch-American Friendship Day! My great-grandmother Angelina was born in Arnhem, lived most of her life in the US, and loved both countries very deeply.
I think the Netherlands was one of the first (maybe the first?) country to formally open diplomatic relations with the newly formed United States of America over 200 years ago.
Anyhoo, happy Friday NSTers, I hope your day is fragrant and delightful.
And you smell fantastic too!
Yes…I think that’s why there is a Dutch-American Friendship Day — because of the historical connection.
thank u, Robin! 😀
SJP Covet again today. I am really enjoying this a lot, and i bought a nearly used and a barely used bottle, so this counts for the CP.
Scents i repurchased (before the rabbit hole)… AG Petite Cherie and Eternity, maybe CK one.
I think before the rabbit hole, the only ones I ever replaced were Diorissimo and Coriandre and Eau de Givenchy…maybe Halston.
I have been wearing perfume on a daily basis since 1970 so I would guesstimate that there are about 100 fragrances that I repurchased more than once. Today I am commando because it’s been one of those days.
Hope your day looks up
thank you 🙂
It’s been a challenging year work wise
Hope you get home and get into a comforting scent ASAP!
Thanks Jada ?❤️
Sorry about the crappy day. Hopefully you have a nice scent and a cozy bathrobe to look forward to at home.
Thanks cazaubon… honestly, it’s been a crappy year due to work but I will survive ?. It irks me though having very young administrators with no work or life experience that think they know more than you.
My dad complained about the very same thing when he was working. My sympathies to you.
I’m sorry work is so stinko for you. I’m always happy to see you post though, scented or not ??
Sorry it’s been one of those days cm8. Hope The weekend is better!
Happy to see you posting, CM8, but bummed to hear that work has been such a PiTA for you.
How nice to read everyone’s stories, I was going to go with vintage l’Heure Bleue (my second perfume when I was 18), one 93ml EDT bottle and a backup of an identical bottle, one 75ml parfum de toilette but the weather has become much warmer all of a sudden so I’m in vintage Rive Gauche, 2 50ml backup bottles and a 30ml flacon pour le sac.
There seem to be several of us on here who are listing the classic Guerlain fragrances as the ones for the project today.
Yes, Guerlain seems to be some kind of compass or gold standard of the perfume world.
SOTD = Bvlgari Black
A discontinued cheapie but goodie. I stocked up in BUBs. I have been on theme since last Saturday!
Others I would have worn but have run out of days of the week:
– NVC Mohur Extrait
– Chanel No. 19 EDP
– Coromandel, 28 La Pausa, No.5 L’eau
– L’AP Tea for Two
– Atelier Cologne (a bunch)
– Rania J Ambre Loup
– Puredistance Opardu
– Tauer Dark Passage
– Arielle Shoshana (Saturday)
– Tom Ford Amber Absolute
– Indult Tihota
– Parfums MDCI Chypre Palatin
– i’ll Stop now ….
Such a fun list. (And I love Bvlgari Black. Kind of the same way I love L’Artisan Dzing!)
Some perfumes just have that effect of unconditional love!
What a great list! I always associate Black with you.
Thank you. I haven’t worn Black in a while. I should have added my SSS BUBs as well!
We have overlapping taste, I also have BUBs of Coromandel, Tea for Two, TF Amber Absolute, Indult Tihota, and I just know you have one of Cuir Beluga too. 🙂
Oy, you are absolutely correct about Cuir Beluga! I also have a BUB of VC&A Bois d’Iris. I think that’s it…maybe…
I love your love of perfume! And Black is sooo good. You smell great.
Thank you, KellyC! I probably need an intervention ?
I consider No. 19 EdP to be the closest thing to a signature scent for you.
You may be right!
?
Reading your list I feel like I need MORE back-ups. 🙂
When the tiny purple flowers begin to bloom wherever they’ve planted themselves in my garden, it’s time for me to enjoy their fragrance in Guerlain’s charming scent, the original (2000) Meteorites, my SOTD for today’s cp. One of my favorite spring fragrances, I opened my BUB last year, surprised that even though I only wear it in spring, I had already used up an entire bottle, very unusual for me.
Later, I’ll be adding more depth with another springtime favorite, Worth Je Reviens in vintage perfume form from the tiny flat bottle sheathed in suede I’ve treasured for many years. An early perfume love of mine, I have several vintage versions. Although much more complex, it’s the fragrance that initiated my love of violet as a scent note.
Wishing everyone a blessed Passover and Easter and Spring weekend!
I’ve never smelled Meteorites but I can imagine how wonderful it must smell!
I share your love for Meteorites first version, I think it’s the first time I see it mentioned here.
I can still smell the last of Hiram Green’s Shangri La from last night. We’re going to see our new great-nephew this morning, I’m not sure the appropriate scent might be for visiting a one-week old baby 🙂 Maybe Le Temps d’Une Fête, which fits the BUB criterion.
New baby! Enjoy.
Yay for new babies!
Congratulations on the arrival of a new great-nephew!
Go commando and enjoy that new baby smell!
I completely forgot about the CP… oh well. It would be Le Temps d’Une Fete if I had remembered. Countless bottles purchased over the years, because it was all I wore for a time. I did thunk a small bottle of Stella last summer and have a BUB, but that’s really as a no-brained scent when I’m in the mood for rose.
In any case, I’m in Jasmins Marzipane.
Hi there! I think you said earlier this week that you had missed out on hearing what had happened to Spooky kitty. Short version of the story: a routine vet visit showed that she had lost over a pound since last year. She also had some GI issues. Probably irritable bowel, according to the vet. So now she is on prescription wet food and an antibiotic. And is doing much better!
Glad you caught it!
Nivea Fresh Ginger and Basil clay body cleanser ( shower). Cheap as chips and smells great ( more like the sliver of pink ginger you get with sushi).
I forgot it was Friday and not Saturday, since my city just added Good Friday to their holidays. I am wearing Pulp from a new decant. I think I love it and I can see replacement decants in my future.
Since there are many cat-lovers here, di kitten toes taste good? (I could also have entitled this “And you think you me child has a thumb-sucking issue…”
https://www.instagram.com/p/BwcxOLGl4_N/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1jf2apnthcam1
The video had me thinking that kitty was weaned when it was far too young!
This project had two obvious choices for me. I have actually bought bottles in sequence after finishing the first one, and then I fell down the rabbit hole. I haven’t finished off a bottle of perfume since. ?
SOTD = Calvin Klein Truth. This is bottle #2 and it still smells great! I have no idea how old it is at this point… maybe I have something about that in my perfume notes somewhere.
I saw a bottle of Truth for men the other day, never smelled it though. The womens version is probably my favorite CK fragrance. Underatted I think.
I don’t think I have ever smelled the men’s version of Truth either. I Googled the bottle and it doesn’t look familiar at all. I agree that CK Truth for women is underrated.
I wonder if any current version had been reformulated?
I haven’t smelled any current bottles of Truth, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it has been tinkered with.
I loved Truth and finished the first bottle. I don’t know why I haven’t bought the next one. I planned to but got distracted.
I own only 2 back up bottles, and they were both purchased EARLY in my perfume journey.
Wearing Tihota, and will wear 4160 Dirty Honey later in the day
Hey! How are things?
Did you get my package? I’m hoping it didn’t get lost.
Scent twins! It was too warm this morning for Tihota, but now it’s gotten chilly again in the evening. There’s a fire in the fireplace to warm things up and Tihota feels just perfect.
Ahh the work day got away from me. I chose Prada L’eau Ambree since I used up a sample and then bought a 10ml travel spray. This is a sibling of IdI and a great office perfume. I had lots of other options today including those I have BUBs (Ostara and A la Nuit), but once I thought of Ambree it just fit my mood, outfit, and the weather. Will catch up on comments tonight!
I started the day in Byredo 1996, and have now switched to Tihota. Both have backups.
Love 1996. You smelled, and smell great!
I should wear my 1996!
Omg, so late today! This is what happens when one works a night shift and then sleeps the day away. Sigh. I woke to a beautiful day though and an even better forecast for the weekend!? We’re headed to see the bigs tomorrow and I can hardly wait.
If I were participating in the cp, I’d be in Obsession. But since a sample of Narciso Pure Musc arrived yesterday, that’s what I’m in. On my skin it’s more about soft florals than musk. It’s reminding me of something that I can’t quite put my finger on….Pretty, but it’s no match for White Cube?.
Now, off to read the comments!
Totally agree about White Cube being the best. On me Pure Musc was a soft floral musc, it lasted forever.
Enjoy your weekend!
Enjoy your weekend!
If you needed the extra sleep, then getting it was a good thing! ?
Ooh I hope your nice weather is headed my way!
Scent-free so far on this Easter Saturday morning, but later I will probably go with No 5 EDT, which I’ve just repurchased. The first bottle took 11 years to drain, but I got there., tough though it was. 🙂 Very proud of my new bottle.
I’ve repurchased No 19 EDT many times but I don’t like the newest version so much. Seems too heavy on the vetiver to me. It has lost the gauzy iris accord I once loved.
Like others I’m wary of acquiring too many BUBs, but if I get to the bottom of my two favourite Merveilles, L’Ambre and the original, I will certainly repurchase them.
I prefer the EDT to the EDP of No.5, then I met L’eau which is now my favorite of the No.5s.
L’Eau is lovely, ’tis true. I’ve been tempted, but I also own Eau Premiere, and can’t QUITE justify a bottle of L’Eau. ?
I got a really cute 40mL bottle of Eau Premiere from a swap and agree it is very similar…in fact, L’Eau feels more like a flanker if Eau Premiere than of the mothership!
I’m in Florida and only brought a couple of samples and decants, so not wearing my CP perfume, which is SJP Covet. I have a backup thanks to TJ Maxx. I wish I had a backup of many of my SSS perfumes!
I bet a lot of people here are wishing the same thing about the SSS perfumes.
I am so darn glad this week is almost over. I live in the foothills of CO and have lived here for about 25 years. With two teens, this week, already hard enough, turned into a nightmare. Also remembering those that endured the Oklahoma bombing. So senseless…
“Big sigh & deep breath”, moving on- wearing MPG Ambre Precieux. Bought a back up of the old red bottle because it is a hug in a bottle for me. Happy weekend to all 🙂
I hope things get better soon. You smell amazing!
I hope that your rotten week is over with and gone very soon.
Backup list:
Indochine
Chergui
Fumerie Turque
Kyoto
Box of eels
TF Shanghai Lily
Passage d’ Enfer
Phi de Kandahar
That’s not too bad, is it?
Very restrained!
Ooh, I like your list. Chergui (FB), Indochine and Shanghai Lily (decants) are in my wardrobe too.
Late to comment today, but I am wearing Vivid. I had a bottle of this in the 1990s, and it was one of two signature scents–at the time I had only this, one Jasmine perfume, and a 5mL of Poison. Anyway, I eventually finished the bottle. I was not going to repurchase (had fallen down the rabbit hole by the time I’d thunked the bottle), but then I found a tiny 2mL decant at a rummage sale…Anyone sensing a theme here? That was the perfect amount I’was willing to re-purchase, just to have something to wear very rarely and sniff on occasion to remember the past.
I wore Vivid when it first came out, went through a full bottle. It was so very pretty. Nice bottle too.
EL Sensuous. It’s chilly, grey, and drizzly here today, and something warm feels like a good choice.
Tried a sample of Kyoto earlier this evening — thank you, Millicent! I like it quite a bit. For an inexpensive fragrance I’d get again, Yardley London English Rose EdT. I’m still mostly in the trying samples phase, but I got a backup sample of Passage d’Enfer. (lol) Sometime I’ll get a backup sample of Tokyo Spring Blossom.
I didn’t wear a twice as nice fragrance today, I wore Crepuscule descAmes instead so I could finish my review of it. But if I had worn a repeat perfume, it would have been Ostara or Jo Malone’s Blue Hyacinth. Just got a backup bottle of each!
Typo! Crepuscule des Ames!
