Hump Day, Manatee Appreciation Day, and the swapmeet is still going! What fragrance are you wearing?
Yesterday I said I was going to test Hermès Un Jardin sur la Lagune, but yesterday did not go as planned. I'm wearing it now.
Reminder: on 3/29, wear an orange blossom or neroli fragrance, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I love that Magnolia, can’t wait for my tree to bloom.
I am wearing one of my favorite combo, FM Musc ravageur oil layered with FM Lipstick Rose, total opposites , they complement each other so well !!!
That sounds like a really interesting match, I love both of those.
We can see a beautiful pink magnolia at the bottom of our garden, above our neighbours fence, so beautiful and uplifting!
That does sound like an interesting combo. I imagine that oil is divine-love Musc Ravageur.
There is a lovely magnolia in my neighbor’s front yard that has spread into mine, and it’s all budded out, waiting to bloom. I am so excited!
California must be ahead of the curve–our magnolias have been blooming since December! Most of the trees near us are done blooming by now. But they sure looked gorgeous.
I’m off topic in Amouage Journey woman, one of my favourites for spring. I’m saving my only orange blossom centric perfume, Seville a l’aube for Friday.
It’s my day off today, and I am feeling incredibly lethargic, after some beautiful sunny spring days, it’s cold, grey and overcast.
At least Journey is lovely, bright and comforting.
Just get some rest and enjoy your Journey on a dreary day!
Thanks kellyc, I will!
Take it easy on your day off, Mayfly. You’re smelling great in Journey, I love this one, not a typical Amouage but lovely all the same.
I love Journey woman, particularly the first couple of hours. You smell great!
Songes!!!!
It’s summer in NYC?!??
Welcome back Songes!
You smell great, I have the oil which I absolutely love
Smelling super good.
Thanks all, not sure if this fits the CP but it is a huge white floral..
Yikes! Winter is back today. Snow in the morning, cold rain in the afternoon.
I am in a springy light floral neroli scent – Elie Saab Essence No. 7 Neroli.
Keep hope alive! 🙂
Thanks! Had more snow in the afternoon and evening, but I know that warm weather is just around the corner.
What a suitable choice of perfume, I’ve followed suit to your scent yesterday.
What do you think of the new Jardin Robin?
I am in HG Arbole Arbole.
Meh. So far don’t dislike it as much as some, but that’s the best I can say for it.
Meh! Haha! That’s kind of what I’m expecting too Robin but I’m still interested to try it! I don’t get excited with new releases anymore since JCE departed. The only CN scent I enjoy and wear is Rhubarbe Ecarlate, and I think Galop is gorgeous but the rest for me are yes, definitely meh. As an aside, I wonder if the new bottle colour was influenced by the 2019 Pantone colour of the year… Living Coral? It certainly does look nice with the rest of the Jardin palette of colours!
It is a pretty color, but the juice does not call up that color at all!
Very pretty floral note early on but it is fleeting.
That magnolia is almost the same color as the flowers on my Christmas cactus…which has started blooming unexpectedly a full 3 months past Christmas. A pleasant surprise!
SOTD: Neutrogena body oil + Cap Neroli.
Haven’t tried Cap Neroli, but I do LOVE Neutrogena body oil. And the Rainbath.
Agreed! Rainbath is my favorite shower gel. If I could find a perfume that smelled like that, I’d be thrilled.
Ditto! I use rainbath gel everyday and then their sesame oil lotion. I don’t even know what kind of a scent rainbath would be considered, but I love it!
Today I’m wearing Bruno Fazzolari’s Feu Secret.
You smell wonderful
Yes I love Feu Secret and I’m glad to see that others do as well.
You smell awesome!
Tell me more about this scent
Sotd is one of my forever favorites Santal Carmin.
Just officially added this to my try list. That’s high praise and I’ve been on a perfect sandalwood and musk quest lately.
I’ve always struggled with sandalwood until Santal Carmin. I’m down to about 3ml, and decided this morning I will have to get a bottle. I don’t want to be without it. My Sephora quit carrying it, so no more free samples!?
My Sephora never carried that one, but I like many of the Ateliers.
Santal Carmin is one of the few Ateliers I haven’t tried, strange because I love sandalwood. My Sephora must not carry it either, but I haven’t actually been to a brick and mortar one in quite a while.
We’re house twins and running low on our favorites twins. I might end up getting a bottle of mine too (Vetiver Fatal)
High praise! I’ll have to see if they have it at my Sephora to try out 🙂
Santal Carmin used to be included in some of the Atelier sample sets. That’s how I came across it.
I’m in my dear old friend Gucci EDP, and will make sure that I appreciate a manatee sometime today. 🙂
I was thinking of what the best way to show my appreciation for manatees might be….hmmm.
Back in the day I had one of those tshirts with a photorealistic image of a manatee peering out. I love manatees, but the picture seemed to creep people out, so I stopped wearing it. I wear it if I could find it. I don’t remember getting rid of it on purpose.
LOL — I can imagine!
Robin,
There’s a site called FLOAT NOOOO AFFILIATION
that sells wonderful T shirts with a donation going to animals
I think they had a manatee one that was nice
And the shirts are soft and comfy.
I will go peek. I do not wear T shirts with messages or pictures but maybe my son will like one of them! Thanks.
Reduce waste! I bet they’d appreciate that form of appreciation.
Seriously.
I totally forgot that one has orange blossom in it! I just think “Smells GOOD” when I wear it.
Cabotine. I really wish the powder was still available. I ordered a set that has edt, shower gel and lotion.
I think there are recipes to make your own dusting powder with arrowroot? not the same, I know!
It is very easy! (But yes, not the same.) Put some arrowroot powder in a jar along with a few cotton balls soaked in scent, seal, and shake once a day for a few days. Remove cotton balls et viola.
Thanks!
darnit I was thinking “don’t type viola, don’t type viola” and I did it anyway
What do you do with scented powders? I have a couple gathering dust in my closet.
The idea is that it keeps you dry in humid weather, so anywhere you tend to get sweaty. I used a lot of powder when I lived in Georgia; Minnesota not so much.
Oh great idea, maybe I’ll make one. This powder in particular had a slight sparkle. I like using powders on super humid days.
I am off theme in Tom Ford Eau de Soleil Blanc for a day of sightseeing along the gulf coast.?
Have fun! Im wearing my regular winter coat today, instead of the heavy duty one, lol. Enjoy that weather ?
Thanks! I will enjoy it while I can. Looks like snow predicted back home for Saturday?. This winter has been tooooo loooong.
Woo hoo!!!!! Smelling good for some Florida sunshine!
Woo hoo! So much sun!?
Gulf Coast of FLorida? Have fun! Visit the Columbia restaurant in Ybor City or Sarasota on St. Armand’s Circle if you have the chance.
Yes, but we are up by Saint Joseph Bay, otherwise I would have! Waffle House is on our bucket list!?
Another soft cherry day in BDK Rouge smoking. I will never see the bottom of this 100ml bottle. Wish everyone made 30ml sizes….
Amen!
On theme with L’Animal Sauvage, a sort of flowery animalic
off the cp in Pacifica Sandalwood, smells like fruit loops and my husband loves it 🙂
Yes! I always get Fruity Pebbles/Froot Loops from Pacifica Sandalwood.
SOTD is Vetiver Fatal. I have probably 3 ml left, so I get plenty of use out of it, but today’s the day the Mr. has decided he likes it, apparently. Thanks for the several years too late validation, sweetheart.
LOL!! I think that means HE has to buy the replacement.
Ha! Good idea.
??
SOTD is Chanel’s No. 19 edp and Halston Couture (both vintage). I’m so sleepy today, I applied the Halson, forgetting I had already applied No. 19.
It’s a nice combo but boy am I a stink bomb! I might have to open my office window to avoid annoying my office suite-mates.
😳
You smell great!
Hi Lovestosmellgood, thanks! Although I did make several coworkers sneeze when I entered the office today!
Better this, than the time I put Metamucil instead of Coffee mate in my coffee. Now THAT’s totally sleepy/dopey SmokeyToes! 😀
Eeeeek! on that coffee ooops! That could make for a very uncomfortable rest of the day.
Well, it did make for an interesting day for sure! 😀
Sampling Honore de Pres Nu Green today – the second Giacobetti in a row that hasn’t wowed me. Maybe I’ve overdone it – or likelier I just smelled all her justifiably famous things first! Anyway this mostly smells like a lemon Italian ice to me.
Hiram Green paranoia rumormongering announcement – I went to price the Dilettante mini yesterday and found it gone from both Luckyscent and the HG website. I do hope they’re not phasing out the minis, but if anyone has been putting off buying one, you might want to grab one just to be safe! Twisted Lily still seemed to have most.
I read this as Hiram Green Paranoia and immediately thought, I totally want a perfume called Paranoia, where do I get it? Lol
Reading fast on my break again?
A perfume called Paranoia would be awesome even if Hiram Green didn’t do it.
Re: Hiram Green 10 ml travel sprays
I noticed this as well!
One of the Dutch sellers is also no longer offering them 🙁
Oh no! Hm, I had hoped to fall in love with Hyde… now I am hoping to never get a chance to smell it!
I read somewhere that be was going to stop doing the travel sprays. But this may have been a rumor!
I also read they were phasing them out. Think I read it here…?
Good morning 🙂 I am wearing Hove Parfumeur Elan d’Orange, which smells like freshly picked orange blossoms, and drinking a cup of black tea.
Really! I might have to try that one. I love Hove perfumery…
That sounds lovely!
Cap Neroli!
YES! I love this scent so much that I have two bottles of it!
I really gotta try this one! It’s so loved on here!
At this point, there’s no way it’ll live up to the hype. It’s like the time someone said Knightsbridge smelled like an angel’s wings and everyone went CRAZY and then I finally got to it and it just smelled nice.
Ha!!!!
And it was a total scrubber for me ?
Ah yes, I remember! At least you helped satisfy my curiosity 🙂
Knightsbridge was a scrubber for me too. I could smell the sample through a plastic bag. I think I threw it out.
Yeah I didn’t like it at all. This was at the medium hype stage.
There is no accounting for tastes but it has blown my socks off. It smells like a perfect day in spring.
Cap Neroli? I think it’s great. It’s the Piguet Knightsbridge that I more than didn’t like.
Sorry! I realised it after I had posted my comment. Reading comments on my laptop with a smaller screen leads to these things, or so I tell myself.
Glad to hear that you enjoy Cap Neroli as well. I find it incredibly lovely.
You’re right about too much hype at this point. Cap Neroli was nice but didn’t wow me. It actually reminded me of Tocca’s Stella. I still have my sample though and will try it again this spring to see if it makes more of an impression.
I will say Cap Neroli is a particularly good neroli, but then there’s lots of good nerolis around. If that isn’t your thing, then Koyel is probably right that it won’t live up to the hype.
Gosh I feel like I’m such a downer. I bet it’s great, and I do hope to try it someday! I am just trying to mitigate my excitement 🙂
You’re a good disenabler, and I appreciate that just as much as I appreciate a good enabler 🙂
I think you’re just being realistic, not a downer. I remember trying Alahine for the first time and being disappointed that it wasn’t the second coming of perfume. It’s a nice perfume, but I was expecting something revolutionary based on others’ excitement about it.
You smell great!
I’m sampling Roasted Green Tea by J-Scent today. It made me desperately want green tea mochi for the first hour I was wearing it. Now it’s a wonderful soft vanilla and something…? I’m really enjoying it and wonder how it would be in warmer weather.
Mmmmmm green tea mochi!
Sistine!! Roasted Green Tea sounds so good!!!!!! I have an impression it must be afrgrance You are testing? I am off to Google it now!
Hello, sistine again! I am looking at this J-Scents website and can’t believe they got such beautiful offerings about Japan! I will order samples of Green TeaMochi, Ramune etc. I been into collecting/enjoying ANYTHING Japanese since I was 4 years of age including manga, anime, cuisine, culture, art… green tea anything of course!~Thank You for sharing the info on J-Scents! Now I know they exist <3
I’m so interested in this line. Have you, or did order any other samples by them?
Ooooh green tea mochi are delicious! ?
Neroli and light & solar notes heaven – Atelier des Ors Nuda Veritas
HUMPDAY!
SOTD: Infusion Fleur d’Oranger. Very elegant and pretty, but not sweet. I am wearing that on top of my Floris Orange Blossom shower gel, and I smell very old fashioned and very nice.
Started looking and networking for new jobs- I think waiting until June may be stretching it.
You smell lovely! Oh, good luck on the job search!
Thank you! And I am gonna need the luck- it would be great to have job leads in hand with my certificate!
Good luck with the job search!
Good for you, and good luck! I need to do that more proactively too!
Thank you!
Good luck with your job search!
Best wishes for your search Ede.
SOTD = L’AP Séville a l’Aube
???
In theme: orange blossom, lavender, insence
In other news, I gave out wrong information regarding the Chanel Body Oil ?. It is NOT, I repeat NOT, Chanel No.5 L’Eau! It is simply Chanel No.5 Body Oil and L’huille just means oil. Anyway, I have not opened it yet but I will and intend on keeping it because Chanel No.5!
I actually LOVE the No. 5 lotion layered with L’Eau! I keep my aunt stocked in the lotion (she loves it but won’t treat herself) and every time I visit her I use it and then layer it with her L’Eau ha! So I bet the oil is WONDERFUL!
Ahahahaha that’s a huge relief. I’m no big fan of No 5, and now no longer need to pine for l’Eau l’huile.
Ditto!!! Money saved!!
If I remember correctly there IS a limited edition No 5 L’Eau hand cream….i saw it on a Chanel counter a few weeks ago. ?
That’s kind of funny about the No. 5 oil!
Wearing a lethal dose of Dior Cuir Cannage layered over orange blossom body lotion. They work great together. Going for a long dog walk outside.
Who makes the lotion??
Compagnie de Provence.
Thank you!
Knize Ten while the wind is rattling the windows around here and I’m getting ready to head out and join what will no doubt be a throng at the Monet exhibit here.
Down in South/lower East bay, there is supposed to be a THUNDERSTORM. Wonder how many shrieks I’ll hear this afternoon and how many accidents there will be.
Wait are thunderstorms not normal in the Bay Area? (Asking as a clueless Midwesterner)
Heh. They are extremely abnormal. I think the entire time I was in grad school, I saw ONE thunderstorm. This is the second or third in 2019 already though O.O Anyway everyone freaks the frack out every time.
I grew up on the east coast, where there were a dozen thunderstorms every summer and we lost power for a few hours at LEAST twice per summer because of them, so they feel comforting to me 🙂 as long as I am warm and dry indoors!
Funny! I’m from MI, where thunderstorms, losing power, and occasional tornado watches/warnings are all part of a regular summer too.
Interesting. I didn’t know that. I grew up in the mid-Atlantic and now that I’m further north actually miss the big thunderstorms.
LOL! Everywhere I have lived, thunderstorms are very much a summer thing. I have to admit, though, that I do NOT miss the big hailstorms I grew up with.
opened new bottle of JM cade and cedarwood
this was a blind buy with my Sephora gift card. its very lovely on this grey morning in Portland as I wait to go to my new client site.
Back in No. 5 L’Eau since I enjoyed it so much yesterday. Today, I went with a good 7 sprays haha.
You smell subtly musky, l’Eau is so easy to wear.
It really is. It’s a perfect office scent to me. Even after so many sprays it wasn’t overpowering at all.
Twins!
Wearing a sample of By Kilian Love. Way too sweet for my preference.
I agree. I have had a sample for years and maybe once or twice per year I spray the tiniest amount possible on my wrist. It is sweet as can be (in a synthetic kind of way). Lasts forever too.
I think Luckyscent states the perfume was inspired by a marshmallow.
I had a workshop today so I went for Le Jardin de Monsieur Li, hoping to be inoffensive to my co-attendees. No neroli, but this is one of my favorites of the Hermes Jardins.
Is it really? I used to LOVE the medditearen one and totally digged when the M<ansoon one was realesed (like the smell of the earth and forrest foliage after the rain… so accurate replica of the damp earth after rain!) and enjoyed the Nil one. Very curious about all the others! ESPECIALLY Le Jardin de Monsieur Li!!!!!!!!! PriscillaE: what does Li smell like to You??
I like almost all of the Jardins series, even Apres la Moussin (I can see some of you melon-haters wincing). Le Jardin de Monsieur Li is currently scenting my car, via a spritzed tissue in the side door compartment.
Spent the morning in Tigress Musk and now I am wearing Rose de Nuit as a comparison. I love them both because they are very skanky.
Well, I WAS wearing Histoire d’Orangers again this morning, but I only put on two leetle sprays and forgot to bring my decant with me, so it’s completely disappeared in just three hours. So I pulled out my little dabber sample of a City on Fire and boy do I smell spectacular. It’s very wet outside today, so it’s a good day to wear it.
I put on 7 sprays of L’Eau this morning and it’s pretty much gone already! It’s just as good though, that way I can try something else this evening.
Awww. That is the trouble with those pretty, light scents! (Although sounds like it’s no trouble for you 🙂 )
Is the wet weather a good thing or a bad thing for you?
Oh I HATE it. I hate rain. I hate being wet.
But my goodness, you should see the hills and mountains and fields. Everything is green green GREEN, except for the mustard and wood sorrel blooms, which are YELLOW! Everything is so, so beautiful, more beautiful than they have been since I first moved to CA in 2010. So the rain is not exclusively bad 🙂
I can’t say that I care for rainy weather either. But a drought just totally sucks! Been through a few of those.
In Sydney Rock Pool from a Scentbird decant–which I am liking much more than I expected. It is evocative of the sea (west coast beaches, NOT east coast beaches which always smell more pungent and ocean-y to me). There is coconut in this one, but it doesn’t trip the suntan oil wire–more like a musky coconut if that makes any sense. I am testing on a cold damp day with rain pouring down outside, so rock pools at the beach are a welcome diversion!
Hey, how do you like Scentbird?
Comme ci comme ça! The decants are large, which is great if you like the perfume and plan to wear it. But if you wind up not loving it, you have an 8 ml decant rattling around. If you are like me, it is hard to toss perfume so I have several of their decants at various levels hanging about. Also, I wish they had a wider variety of scents. For instance, they recently added several Kate Spade perfumes to their list–which I am completely incurious about and also feel is a little depressing. I do have a few Amouage decants from Scentbird, which I quite like, and am happy with 8 mls—and probably won’t need more of.
Hi Oakland Fresca!
Have you ever had problems with delays or missed shipment with Scentbird? I read some negative posts on MUA and decided against signing up, although I would love to get several decants from them.
There was a two month period a little while ago where the shipping got a little bungled, but since you only pay for what you actually get and you can always order extra decants on a one time or regular basis–I wouldn’t let that stop you if see items you are wanting try. I think $15 for 8 mls is a good deal, and if it comes a week late–its not the end of the world. I think two decants, at 8 mls each, is $25 a month, but you can also always order another decant any time you want without signing up for it to be a regular thing.
BF Au Dela Narcisse for its dose of neroli and since it’s still cold out.
You smell fantastic!
I was considering this one as well this morning but I ended up grabbing Rahele.
Also a great choice!
Wearing Boos Des Ike’s 😉 (that’s how autocorrect on my phone interpreted Bois des Iles). Beautiful in any weather (and we’re having a nice warm spring rain).
Happy Hump day to everyone!
There seems to be no end to autocorrect mysteries.
I sorta like that name. ?
Me too.?
Inspired by Glannys yesterday, I am wearing Aqua Allegoria Flora Nerolia, a combo of neroli and jasmine, where the jasmine sort of takes over: enjoying it, the jasmine is so prominent with the slight note of mothball it sometimes takes.
At Nordstrom’s yesterday I sniffed Diptyque’s Olene and I got a walloping of mothballs–but in a good way 😉
🙂
Ha! For a while I was wondering how mothballs smell, until about a year ago we took kids to Hans On Museum (Ann Arbor, MI) and I was able to smell them:) They didn’t smell horrid to me:)
Oh, glad you found out about the smell, not horrid and definitely jasmine has something mothbally.
I think I know what you mean by ‘mothball’. Yesterday I thought there was something slightly stale or stuffy in Flora Nerolia. Maybe an association with naphthalene.
Yes, stuffy is a very good description too, but it did lose that effect after a while which is a good thing for my co-workers.
I like that “mothball” note some jasmine perfumes have. Makes things interesting. ?
Yes to this!
Off project, wearing first day’s spray of new decant of Wit. This is a great summertime scent which is always in heavy rotation of my summer fragrances which must be 1. Non allergy provoking 2. Airy but with some staying power 3. Smell good and specifically of something- be distinctive in some way. Wit, Hanbury, Apres l’Ondee, Capri de Fiori, La Chasse aux Papillions, Ether de Lilas, Diorissimo, La Fille en Berlin, Belle Rive, Do Son, 🙂
Super busy day at work. Particpating in Houbigant, Orangers en Fleurs.
Purdy! I’m thinking that one for tomorrow.
That’s a wonderful fragrance! Thanks for the reminder; I have to see if my sample is still here.
Read the drydown on Carnel Flower and immediately doused myself. I love it. My person hates it. He’s not here!
Now remembering. I love it for an hour or so and then it wears me out. ?
Hurray for manatees! I was lucky enough to see one off the dock at my in-law’s house in FL once. He/she was fairly close, too… maybe about 15 – 20 feet away?
SOTD = back in Silences again. I had a dentist’s appointment today, getting a cavity filled, so I went with something that could fly “under the radar” so to speak.
Manatees! They are so cool! I saw them so close in December 2017 when we first took a vacation to FL! My husband even managed to pet one. Kids were super excited too and watched them for hours.
You smell great in Silences!
Thank you! Silences is turning out to be an all-weather scent for me. I have yet to try it in summer’s heat & humidity, but it has been lovely in all the other weather.
I put on just 2 little spritzes of Histoire d’Orangers early in the day and it’s still there. Sometimes the light ones just do not fade on me and I’m glad this one doesn’t.
The daffodils are so close to blooming, I decided I needed to wear Ostara today. I have a decant from a split or swap, don’t remember exactly, and I like it. A lot. If a cheap bottle landed in my lap I wouldn’t be mad.
Such a busy day. Spent it in my new Tauer “Lonestar Memories”, which will need more sprays in future than I gave it this morning!
A bunch of decants arrived today, so I will have something new for tomorrow as well as something with Neroli for Friday.
My little FM set arrived today and I couldn’t wait to try Musc Ravageur so that is my SOTE. Really nice. It took me a long time to get to the Malles but I’ve at least liked everything I’ve tried so far.
Sounds like it was a good buy for you then!
Yesterday several people mentioned Insolence so I put that on tonight.
Last night I put on SL Fleurs d’Oranger; it must have lingered all night through this morning as I think I could still smell it slightly at work when I was moving back and forth from my desk.
Impressive longevity.. I must have tested the original cumin bomb. It was OB + BO on me.. I couldn’t scrub it off fast enough… and that was how I learned about cumin in perfumes as a new perfunista a few years ago. ? SL sure loves cumin…
