Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit, welcome to March! Our community project for today: wear a fragrance by Floris, Fragonard or Frapin, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter F.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I am still looking for my Fragonard Eau de Garrigues! It's here somewhere!
Reminder: on 3/8, we'll celebrate International Women's Day. Wear a fragrance that honors the holiday in whatever way you like.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Polka Dot Monogram F Bunny Plaque with Bowtie is $19.99 at Kirkland's.
Happy Bunny Day! I’m in SL Un Bois Vanille today in honor of She-ra and her vanilla quest!
1) First thing this morning, I spilled all my decants, samples, and travel sizes all over the floor. What a hot mess!
2) Coffee shop is only taking cash because the computer is down. I have zero cash.
It feels like a Monday. ?
Oh, that does feel like a Monday! Sorry Deva.
Ugh, I hope nothing broke! Hope you find caffeine very soon. ☕️
Oh no, the inability to get coffee when I need it is one of my nightmares!
But did you remember to rabbit rabbit rabbit? I forgot (as usual), and am hoping the rabbit gods forgive me.
But at least it’s actually Friday!
Oh, no! Hope it gets better.
Tough start! Hope it gets better!
Ugh. Monday, indeed. I hope you found coffee! That would make me cry, lol.
Rough start but hopefully it’s all uphill from here!
Yuck, sorry about your cruddy morning!
?
I totally forgot bunny! Sorry about the bad start to the day. I hope things improved.
Oh no! I hope they did not break! 8(
Hope you finally found a good cup of coffee! 🙂
Aw! I hope that none of your scented stash was damaged! ?
Rabbit x3! I’m wearing Fresh Brown Sugar for partial credit.
I love that one! You smell great today.
Nice!
That’s a nice one! I thought about wearing a Fresh perfume this week but just didn’t get to it.
Rabbit rabbit, rabbit! ???
A spray of Floris Honey Oud on my right wrist to participate in the CP. Then 15 sprays of Chanel No.19 EdP all over the body. So much needed!
Have a happy Friday everyone!
Ha! Twins with Honey Oud. I hope the 19 is shielding you well today!
Hi twin! We smell good!
And No. 19 is helping a lot too!
Triplets in Honey Oud! Happy Friday!
Smelling great in Honey Oud! You too have a wonderful Friday!
Joining you in Honey Oud (love No 19 as well).
Have a great Friday!
So good to see many of us wearing Honey Oud! Enjoy your Friday!
Wearing Floris Honey Oud as well. I had no idea so many people have this 🙂
It looks like Honey Oud is getting lots of love!
You could have added 4 more sprays to make it 19 sprays of No.19! You smell fabulous!
Ha! I will keep it in mind for next time! ?
?
Hope you had a good day. You smelled fantastic!
I hope you have a backup bottle of No. 19! 15 sprays! Wow!
Happy FriYAY….and Happy March! Hurry up Spring pretty please….
Partial credit here…..wearing Fresh Life. It was the only “F” house that I could find in my entire stash! 🙂
Have a great weekend y’all!
I second your request for Spring to hurry up!
Finishing up my Frédéric Malle week (since I have no other F brands) in Potrait of a Lady. So beautiful.
Yes it is!! You smell absolutely divine!?
You smell great!
Portrait always reminds me of my sister because she wears it beautifully and often.
House twins today—I’m in Outrageous in denial of a fresh blanket of snow!
You smell wonderful!
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit. February had many ups and downs. Perhaps March will be serene. In Frapin L’Humaniste from a sample. My husband, who is generally indifferent to what I wear (and who dislikes quite a few) gave me a compliment on this.
Nice!
Always nice to get a compliment from the husband. Mine is usually indifferent too and rarely says anything, unless he really really likes something, or really really dislikes something, lol.
My husband seems to hate vanilla. And what he perceives to be “old lady” perfume – here the criteria are much less well defined. 😉 I think it helps if there seem to be some sort of rationale to the dislikes.
My boyfriend loves “old lady” perfume– his preferred vanilla is L’Heure Bleue, and the first time he smelled vintage Rochas Femme on me, he said, “That one’s magic.” (Thanks again, Regina!) On the other hand, if I wear anything overtly sweet, he sometimes says, “That smells like it’s meant for a young person,” by which he means juvenile. He is pushing 60, though, so getting to be an old man himself.
Your boyfriend has good taste. And I’ve always liked the saying: “Rather an old man’s darling, than a young man’s slave.” ?
That is a nice saying. (And I like to think he does have excellent taste.?)
It sounds like quite a few people had a rough February.
No points for me today. MMKinPA and I were in neglected loves yesterday, and I am again today in Tabac Blond. Current (I think) extrait over vintage EDT.
House twins! What do you think of Tabac Blond? I’ve been tempted to sample, but leather is a challenging note for me.
It was my very bestest favorite for a long time, and is still near the top of my list of cool-weather perfumes. It’s not a masculine, tarry leather at all – it’s more floral-y and vanilla-y than many leather fragrances, without being suede-y. I love it and recommend you at least try a dabber sample. I know lots of people find the current versions rather bland, but on my skin it’s gorgeous.
Okay, I’m sold! This one is going on the sample list.
Partial credit for Linde Berlin no. 10 from Frau Tonis.
I don’t think I’ve ever smelled linden in real life, so I can’t comment about how realistic it is. But if linden smells like this, I’m a fan!
That’s one I’d like to try since I love linden perfumes. I’ve also never smelled it in the wild.
I LOVE linden blossom, and I’m on a constant quest for even better linden perfume (I have a couple that are quite nice already).
Oh which ones?
I want to know too!
Used to really like the Parfums d’Orsay but too hard to find now (if they even still make it).
I really liked that one and dithered too long when they still had it at Twisted Lily. I regret letting that one go.
I was so lucky to get a bottle of this in a swap last year.
April Aromatics Under den Linden is a very nice linden (though quite expensive). And surprisingly I think Jo Malone French Lime Blossom is quite close to real blossom (as far as perfumes go, of course).
I like Pretty Machine and Grand Chalet for linden
I’m in DK Black Cashmere and drinking spice tea. Hoping to see the sun at some point, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. ?
Love Black Cashmere- you smell wonderful! Think I’m going to wear it tomorrow for our snow storm.
You smell great!
Smelling gorgeous! BTW, I saw your post about your dad’s joke the other day. Loved the story!
Frapin 1270. I smell like pineapple lightly caramelised with a touch of rum on a bed of vanilla cream custard. Mmmmm.
Twins! I have a bottle from the original release. Nice and boozy.
You smell fabulous!
Um that sounds so wonderful!!!
You smell great!
Triplets! Or maybe quadruplets at this point? Hmmmmm, I will have to look for pineapple the next time I wear 1270… didn’t notice it today.
Wore my last sprays of Geisha Vanilla Hinoki last night, so the Thunk Mission is complete!
No F’s in my collection. Instead, I’m sampling Caron Pour Un Homme. I tried it a couple days ago, and it was all about the lavender, but today the tonka/vanilla is coming through much more strongly. I really like it. Caron just as easily could’ve called this Pour Un Femme.
Congratulations on your thunk!
Thanks for your mini review. Sounds nice! I’m feeling a lavender hunt coming on…
You might also enjoy Galimard “Offrez-lui”, which has a similar feel:
Top: lavender and bergamot;
Mid: jasmine;
Base: musk, sandalwood and vanilla.
Still my favourite lavender. Have you tried the extrait version as well? It used to be called L’Impacte but is now simply called Pour un homme parfum.
I have not! Looks like there are several flankers to keep an eye out for.
I really like Pour un Homme too, the perfect combo of lavender and vanilla. You smell nice!
Will you have another “Mission: Thunkable!” in the near future? Congrats on getting that decant done!
Hello! I’m in Malmaison and thinking I will be joined by a few others. I kind of love it when many of us wear the same thing for the CP; I imagine us as a little Malmaison army, creating a gorgeous carnation cloud around the world.
What a great image!
Full credit! Fragonard Santal Cardamome. I passed a Fragonard store after visiting Annick Goutal and Jovoy in Paris last summer. Totally drawn in by their colorful displays – the fabric items they sell in stores are so vibrant and beautiful. I sniffed a number of perfumes but this one definitely drew me in. A burst of pepper up top and then basically matches its name.
Their candles are very very pretty.
This one definitely has piqued my interest. What’s your take on it?
I really like the scent, but I’m a sucker for spicy and love cardamom. The downside is longevity- I don’t remember how long it lasted today but I’m guessing about 4 hours, and I was pretty generous with my sprays.
Oh you smell lovely!!! I visited their store last year when I was in Paris, and still regret not picking up a bottle of Santal Cardamome. It was the only scent I wanted to buy. Why didn’t I?! It was nearly perfumath free!! Well, good job on being cleverer than I am, and you smell great.
Wanted to participate, but then found a travel size of Ormonde Jayne Woman in my mailbox from the Splitmeet. No points but I smell damn good.
Happy Friday everyone!
Oh I can’t wait to get mine! You sure do smell good!!!
You should get it soon. It only took two days to get from California to Chicago.
Yeah, you do smell good!
I’ve already sprayed it 10 times. I don’t think it’s going to last long. ?
One of my favorites. You smel great!
It was blind buy, but I had a good feeling about it. It really is lovely.
I’m fully participating in this weeks CP. I’m wearing Fragonard’s lovely Fleur d’Oranger eau de toilette and body lotion. Must admit I just could not resist adding a few tiny spritzes of Sweet Redemption for some depth. The whole combination feels very summery and nice.
Tea was a great Assam and is now an equally wonderful first flush Darjeeling.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Tell me about your Assam, I love Assam.
So do I, I currently have 5 different kinds on the go 😉
Today’s choice was Assam Khongea Second Flush TGFOP1
My top favourite is gorgeous Assam Halmari SFTGFOP1 which isn’t even the most expensive.
I just ordered samples of that Fragonard and the Intense edp version. Looking forward to trying them!
I haven’t yet tried the Intense but I’m sure it will be good. The Eau de toilette I’m wearing is just about perfect.
Putting both on my list.
Forgot my ? ? ? again. Wearing an old favorite: Frapin Terre de Sarment.
At least you got CP points!
Those darn rabbits can be really elusive!
Epic fail with the CP this week, but smelling great in BV Eau de Velours. It took a long time to decide between this one and the pillar, and in the end the deciding factor was the bottle. Purple is my favorite color. And ya’ll, this bottle is gorgeous in person; darker, richer, plummier.
The bottle is gorgeous. I had to get both. 🙂
Agree about the bottle, but it smells great, too. I have the pillar, but couldn’t resist getting a mini for the cute bottle.
Such a bummer that the Eau de Velours was a limited edition, if I remember correctly.
Onto my 3rd revisited Fragonard today, which is “Eau d’Hongrie”.
Official notes:
Top: bergamot;
Mid: jasmine;
Base: labdanum and amber.
Eau d’Hongrie (as a generic thing) was supposedly invented to delight a medieval queen of Hungary. Based on Fragonard’s efforts, she would have been thrilled beyond words by our modern insect sprays, which this perfume evokes faithfully.
Today’s perfume has been brought to you by the letter “F”, which stands for Fragonard, fatuous and flyspray. But not for fun.
Loved your “reviews”. When I was little my dad bought my mom boxes of Fragonard “mini mini” bottles. Those were the seventies and my mom would guess the real perfumes that they resembled : Chanel no 5 etc.
Last year I saw similar boxes at Charle de Gaulle airport and wanted to buy my mom one for old times’ sake, but luckily spritzed from some sample perfumes beforehand. Ended up not buying.
I don’t know if their mens’ stuff is universally weaker than their women’s perfumes, or if I just found the worst 5 (conveniently bundled into a set, mind!) :^)
I imagine the 1970s “F!” was very different to the travesty I wore last week. :^D
I remember them as very perfume-y. But I was seven/eight. The small square ribbed bottles with their tiny labels impressed me even more. I remember that, even then, I realized that the bottles with brown liquid smelled far richer and more exotic that the bottles with pale liquid.
LOL!
Lol
Brilliant! And, based on that description, I’ll give it a miss…
Have no idea when or where I acquired a mini solid of Fragonard Suivez Moi but it’s my sample of the day. A pleasant smell but the base isn’t fast absorbing so my wrists are a little sticky
And DSH just released a White Rabbit perfume that I’m going to need to try
Oh, I have to go look!
I’m wearing 4711 White Peach & Coriander. Today is my last day of work. Monday is the first day of my first week of vacation. Yay!
I’ve been curious about that one. How do you like it? And where are you headed on your vacation?
It isn’t my favorite of the 4711 Acqua Colonias, but it is OK. yesterday’s Blackberry & Cocoa was more to my taste. I’m not getting the coriander at all.
Wearing a spritz of Ferre. Not sure whether there’s anything else under F in the collection, but might have a look-see after breakfast.
Ah, forgot I still have some Ferre left in a decant. It’s a nice one!
Ferre EDP is very nice! I should wear it soon. Like Elisa, I still have some in a decant.
Forgot I had that. You smell wonderful!
I got it from you ?
I looked at the list of Fs on Fragrantica for ideas, and I think that house is under G for Gianfranco.
Galop d’Hermes
I love that one, you smell great! How’s the staying power?
Au delà Narcisse, again, do i get points for bruno Fazzolari? 🙂 Even though this brand probably gets filed under b….
I think it can go under F, and that’s such a beautiful scent! I got a full bottle and I wear it from time to time, for formal, full-on-war-paint occasions, recently for a friend’s wedding. I did wear it while attending Library of Congress Disco Ball, since it reminded me of these gorgeous green chypres from 70s.
You get points for fabulosity!
🙂 thank you!
I hope so… because I’m claiming Fazzolari’s Feu Secret as a double-credit!
(Oddly, this sort of vanishes on me. It’s there, but incredibly quiet. ADN sings, so does Lampblack.)
Ooooh you smell wonderful. I wore Feu secret last night and yes its definitely more quiet.
My husband said he likes it a lot!
SOTD is Tauer Wowilla vanilla oil and an little spritz of Vanilla flash. I was scared of that one, but I think I like it ?
You smell great! Love that combo.
Thank you! I’m going for day two…
I am dying to try that oil. I imagine you smell fantastic!
Me too!
And the oil is so inexpensive. Really a steal!
The oil is fantastic although I’ve never tried Vanilla Flash. I bet it’s an amazing combination!
Yes, they complement each other very well!
What’s scary about the Vanilla Flash to you?
I thought it would be very heavy and cloying, but it isn’t. Maybe it’s the answer to my vanilla quest ?
I am wearing Fragonard by Fragonard pure perfume version.
I am happy it’s the weekend, looking forward to a concert tomorrow night.
You smell lovely. Enjoy your concert!
I think you get double points!
Hi, friends, I’m in SSS Nostalgie today, from a sample from an exceedingly generous NSTer. I’m very happy to get to try this, since I didn’t manage to get hold of it before Laurie closed shop (tears for years 🙁 ). It’s a mossy old school chypre (which I should’ve expected from the name). It’s not my favorite, but it certainly does have a role in my life. I’m not too broken up to not have more than the < 1 mL sample, but I think I'll enjoy wearing it.
For next week's CP, I think I might just be boring and wear things by women. Maybe I'll do a week of SSS? Maybe throw in some DSH samples? Maybe the newer Hermes scents? So many choices. I did quite poorly with this week's challenge.
I’m not really sure how I want to interpret next week’s CP either. Female perfumers? Go with super feminine scents? Or names that mention women, like the Tocca line or FM Therese? Or things I just like because I’m a woman and I said so? I say play it loose.
All of the above ?
My favorite of those interpretations is the last one 🙂
We have done a female perfumers CP, so I left this one open! Whatever it means to you 🙂
Oh, I love the travel spray of Nostalgie I managed to get right before SSS closed! I’ve enjoyed smelling it in different seasons.
Oh good, I’m glad you snagged one!
Fortune Cookie Soap’s Crystal Ball today. It’s a sweet peony/apricot mixture, I’m more interested in the cute little crystals they put in the bottom of the roller, honestly. I’m so ready to sleep in forever tomorrow, it’s been a long week.
It’s been a long week for me too *sigh* Enjoy sleeping in tomorrow.
Me 3 … long week, long month, long year.
Hang in there!!
I’m wearing Medina by Florascent, for partial credit. It’s an indie German brand, all natural. I got a new bottle recently, and the new version smells like it’s has been reformulated. It used to be really spicy, full on patchouli, vetiver, saffron and iris root scent, new one smells nice but declawed. Not sure if IFRA is to blame for this one, maybe just an issue with sourcing/pricing of the ingredients. Will enjoy what’s left of my old bottles while I can.
It sounds beautiful! Where can you buy it?
If you are in Europe, you can order directly from the Florascent website. Otherwise, you can call them up or email them, and see if they will ship outside EU. They are very nice and accommodating. And they have samples and sample sets galore available.
Technically I get partial credit, but in my mind I get full credit because the perfume is so beautiful. It’s Ariose by Fum, of course! It makes me smile as I first spray it and release the scent. My only regret is not being able to spray lavishly since it’s a work day. Thank goodness it’s Friday!
Twins!
Seconding your “TGIF!” Ugh, what a week this one’s been.
Floris Honey Oud today. I tend to forget I have a decant of this, but it’s really nice for a honey fix. Very pleasant and is pretty cozy on this grey, post-snow day.
Twins! We smell good!
Ditto! 🙂
I got it from you I just realized! ?
It looks like Round 2 of today’s weather has arrived in my area… I’m seeing what looks like rain outside. I wonder how much of the snow is going to disappear overnight.
Floris Honey Oud to join a few others here! This is my first time trying it and I actually really love it. I don’t have a lot of perfumes with honey notes and I was surprised at how realistic this one was. And it’s drying so warm and pretty.
Happy Friday, friends! Going to take my mom on a date tomorrow for lunch and hanging out somewhere (still undetermined). She’s watching my 3 year old nephew for a whole week while my sister and I are in NY soon, so I feel she deserves to be spoiled a little in advance ha!
Oh you smell terrific!
Hey twin! We do smell pretty darned nice today ? Enjoy your mom date! When are you in NYC? If you have time, maybe we can arrange a sniff date with some of us locals?
I will be there the 16th-22nd and I would definitely love to plan a sniff date!
Yayyy!
Yay! ??
W00t. I’m the week of the 18th and leaving for a quick spring getaway on the 20th so if it works out timing wise, I’m there!
Woot woot!
Have fun spoiling your mom, AND in NYC!
Enjoy your “mom time” and your upcoming trip!
Happy Friday! Bunny bunny bunny!
1) Am in Floris Orange Blossom shower gel and a sample of the Delacourte fragrance Valkyrie, so partial credit! I smell great, if I do say so myself. The shower gel was a good bet- not sweet, but more of a neroli bergamot scent. Very nice indeed!
Valkyrie is like a crossed between an herbal scent with a powdery vanilla drydown- it reminds me of a greener yet sweeter Jicky, if that makes any sense!
2) Sunny and slighter warmer weekend, which means getting the garden ready for planting! This year, after last years test run, I am planning a more expansive potager- expanding the amount and selection of herbs, more greens, more tomatoes and cukes, and more squash. Will be attempting raised beds and nets this year- will try Smart Pots system and will be getting a LOAD of rich city compost and garden soil to use this year!
Your gardening plans sound awesome and adventurous! Much admiration. I’m still trying to figure out the whole thing myself, with my little plot of dirt.
I was going to wear Frapin 1270 today but decided against it because I didn’t want to get looked at funny at work. 1270 is very boozy on me. I went with Une Rose Chypree instead.
Oh I’m so jealous of your gardening! I gardened a lot in Alabama, but summers are so dry here in NM I haven’t even attempted it. I will live vicariously through you!
Oops, that was obviously for Ede.
My only little F is too summery for our weather. So big F it is-
FM Lipstick Rose!
And you smell great Laura!
Thank you! ?
Fragonard Jasmin Perle de Thé for me today. A gift from my sister and the one that held me back from getting Nicolai fig-tea. They’re not similar, but I decided one tea scent was enough, and I don’t wear this near as often as it deserves. I plan to make it much more frequent when the weather warms up.
I’ve got that soap somewhere. It is gorgeous. That whole Jardin series is really nice.
Sounds pretty! I love jasmine tea, the beverage.
Although I have several large “F” fragrances, I have none from any of the three small “f”houses mentioned or any similar ones, so I’ve decided to be creative in my cp project today and to instead match the ending of Frago-nard with Moli-nard Vanille Patchouli.
Although, technically, meteorological Spring begins on March 1, those of us who live in the Midwest know that even ‘real’ Spring is a long way off, especially with temps destined to plummet to near zero on Sunday and stay bitter cold here for several days. Nevertheless, as a gardener, patchouli is a favorite scent note for me once March arrives. Its earthiness reminds me that deep below the still mostly frozen ground outside my window seeds are germinating and new life is emerging. Yes, just beyond that patch of ice I can see the tiniest of green shoots heralding the arrival of this year’s snowdrops!
Notes for Vanille Patchouli are vanilla, caramel, neroli, capsicum, patchouli, clove, sandalwood, and musk. The vanilla warms up the earthy patchouli, the caramel adds a sweet note, the neroli brightens it – a wonderful composition perfect for a cloudy, chilly day bridging the two seasons.
Happy Friday and wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead!
I dug out what I remembered to be a Fragonard sample, and discovered it was actually a Molinard. Probably should have just gone with it.
And the Vanille Patchouli sounds lovely.
And I actually thought the Vanille Parchouli was a Fragonard until I pulled it out and saw it was Molinard. Ha!
Hi all, today’s SOTD is Cucumber Baie by Fresh, haven’t worn it in a while and thought I’d drag it out. One of my favorite green scents, with cucumber, amber and citrus notes, I get a tiny LOV note as well. I was fortunate to find a bottle before it was discontinued. Happy Friday! 🙂
You smell great! I cherished that one but my 1999 bottle turned, so I used it as room spray. Just finished it off a month or two ago.
Oh wow, nice room spray though! I have to say, the Cucumber was my all-time favorite from Fresh, I never quite liked anything else they produced. Even the Patchouli was ‘meh’ to me.
Partial credit – Fumerie Turque is all I got. good thing it’s glorious.
Fumerie Turque!!!! You smell great! This particular SL isn’t mentioned a lot these days. I loved it from the first sample and it is hanging out in my to buy list forever…
In Cedre Sambac again today.
I am so happy it’s March and magnolias are in full bloom in my neighborhood.
Interesting to read what other NSTers are wearing today. Some of these perfumes I’d never heard of. Clearly I have much to learn ?
Have a peaceful weekend everybody!
I think that a lot here- “wow, I’ve never even heard of that one!” Like you, I clearly have much to learn. 😉
Me three. I’d heard of a number of perfumes commonly carried in department stores and popular in the 20th century. All the different niche fragrances are pretty new to me. I recently mentioned that I’d acquired quite a collection of scented soaps over the years, and I got little bottles of essential oils here and there along the way, but didn’t especially get into perfumes per se. Around the turn of the century, I got a book about perfumes published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which included a row of little vials that contained examples of what was popular in certain historical periods. I remember rose and millefleur being my favorites. I wasn’t into the “looking towards the future — Sportif” (paraphrasing). But mainly I use the flower and fruit and spice scents I’m familiar with as references.
Floris Night Scented Jasmin from a sample today. Nice, but fleeting… Received my half Full bottle of Felanilla today and some decants, so tried Ambre Sultan.
My employers want to shorten my contract und set me free to the end of march. The new contract Starts in june, so two months off works! Will have a prolonged vacation, maybe visiting London again ……
If you’re visiting London at the end of March, bring food. And weapons. :^D
I Hope to visit a Friend in Ham/Richmond. Why Food and weapons???
29 March is Brexit Day. Sticking to blog rules and talking about perfume only, thousands of trucks full of perfume will be stuck for hours as customs inspections for 3rd countries kick in at what has for 40+ years been an internal border. The trucks carrying food will be stuck behind the trucks carrying perfume. For more information, see a non-perfume blog. ;^)
Clever framing of the issue 🙂 Good luck!
No smallish f’s for me either, so I went with a big F: Musc Ravageur. This wears like a skin scent on me. Definitely less sillage than it’s little sister Le Labo Labdanum 18, but more spices.
TGIF!
SOTD = Fum Ariose
One spritz from a sample. Twins with therabbitsflower! I received my sample set last week. I debated between Ariose and Winter Crocus. The 3rd one, Nerola, was just ok.
I also got my 5mL of the new Puredistance Aenotus. Something about the base was bitter-screechy, just like in Sheiduna, if I pressed my nose close to my arm. That said, since I din’t Walk around with my nose pressed to my forearm (I am tempted to do just that in the train), it’s not a disqualified. The drydown of it post shower is cuddly. I need to wear it longer to really give it its due. It’s 48% concentrated fragrance and the first 90 minutes or so had quite the projection.
I meant to say that I had not disqualified AENOTUS (darn, why did it automatically capitalize, I swear I did not do that) as “FB” worthy although with Puredistance, 17.5mL is the price of what most 50 mLs of an expensive perfume costs!
Well, at that concentration it’s as if you were buying 35 ml of the most other high-end or niche perfume, which is already not that bad 😉
Trudat, although that concentration has now made my skin hivey, although not as bad as the instant reaction I had to Aftelier Prive (or whatever her most expensive perfume is called). Because I’m insane and keep doing the same thing hoping for a different result, I will try again to confirm it.
Maybe your phone thought AENOTUS was some kind of abbreviation, like POTUS and FLOTUS and SCOTUS? 😀
This made me LOL!
Uh oh. Hives are never a good thing in my book!
You are right…hives are never a good thing! I decided not to chance it again as perhaps I am not insane after all ?
I get no points for Project F. SOTD is OJ Woman which just arrived from the split meet. Woot! Blind buy win!
Which is better than CP points any day!
I’m wearing my OJ Woman from the split tonight. It’s one of my favs! Glad it was a good blind buy for you!
I’m not on project, but – I followed neon pink signs to an estate sale yesterday and found a tiny bit of Chanel 5 in one of those refill bottles – perhaps 2ml or so, and bought it for a dollar and saw at home that it’s the parfum version! I’m determined to scout out estate sales more often. Happy Friday!
Nice!
I just had to get the Frapin 1270 out today. In reading through today’s comments, I see at least one other person, so far, wearing this one. It’s snowing a lot where I am and I’m not going anywhere, so I can smell as boozy as I want in this one.
Hello scent twin!
Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit! Wearing Bruno Fazzolari’s Room 237, hoping it was inspired by the rather excellent documentary about the making of The Shining. It is a rather nice aquatic and has an interesting vinyl note. It is in no way offensive, but is suggestive of a freshly cleaned bathroom……
Vinyl aquatic, hmmm.
That sounds dreadful, does it not? But it really is quite pleasant and upon further consideration, not vinyl but new shower curtain!
It’s March already??? 2019 is flying by! ???
SOTD = Frapin 1270 EdP, from the sample stash. My first time trying it, too. This is fabulous!!! Lots of dried fruit, spices, vanilla and booze notes. Perfect for a day of winter weather.
Sounds gorgeous. I have had a moratorium on buying samples, but I may have to break it. Either that, or get myself to the Scent Bar.
I was pleasantly surprised at how 1270 turned out on me. From the notes list, I thought it was going to be a hot mess! Just goes to show that a sniff is always the way to try something.
That sounds wonderful!
It is definitely worth a sniff! Alas, it comes only in 100mL bottles.
I was shocked to turn over the calendar today. What the heck have I been doing for 2 months? Mentally hibernating, I guess.
I know! So much going on that it’s a shock after it’s all over.
I forgot to say my rabbits. My excuse is that I’d somehow convinced myself there was a February 29 this year. My SOTD is also by Fum or fūm as they like to write it. I can’t find the Winter Crocus so I gave Nerola another try. It goes on nice and juicy but that fades a lot and it’s just meh, so then I added Ariose on top of it. I hadn’t really loved it the first time around but today it’s been smelling nice on me and more toned down than I’d found first time. It’s not too cold here but very gray and foggy/misty/dreary. Still, we have many flowers in bloom including lots of azaleas, and now the redbuds and pink magnolias are out. It’s one of the nicest times of the year here in Houston/East Texas.
I had convinced myself that March 2-3 were next weekend rather than this weekend. Pretty sure there’s no Feb. 34.
I like to imagine that it really is Fum and that it’s pronounced like an enormous book been dropped onto a dusty surface. Like a “fwump!” sound. A backfiring of pretention, you know.
This is going to sound kind of silly, but it seems that February came to a really abrupt end this year.
Partial credit today in Frederick Malle Music for a While. (Smaller than Tom Ford, which was my other option. I was sure I had a Fragonard sample, but when I dug it out, it proved to be a Molinard. Whoops.) I adore the piece by Purcell which apparently inspired the name of this perfume, and which was used to great effect in The Favourite. The perfume surprised me with its fruitiness the first time I tripped it, and I really couldn’t form a coherent opinion. There’s a punch of lavender in the beginning, and so far everything else is very sweet fruit punch, maybe with a little herbal edge. It’s better applied sparingly, although I am usually a heavy sprayer. I like it better wafting from a distance than sniffed up close, and think this may fall into the category of perfumes I would prefer to smell on someone else.
Looking forward to reading about all the Frapins–I have yet to try anything from that house, but they sound pretty great.
Yesterday I mentioned a new pair of Skechers that made me more bouncy than usual. The link I provided was for a similar but not theoair I bought.
THIS was what I got and I freakin’ love it!

Those are very cute! I like the all-black version too.
The all black version was what I got…I didn’t know how to make the link go to that. Skechers was a topic of conversation at work too – my boss is a guy and he loves Skechers as well!
PSA – I posted a split for a Cartier Carat 15mL travel spray:

Dibs. I replied on your splimeet post.
Got it! I will email you later today.
SOTD was Billet Doux by Fragonard. I bought it early in my perfume fervor. I still like it but it feeks a bit dated.
We are also expecting a few snow storms this weekend. I’m so done with winter.
Claiming partial points for Fazzolari Ummagumma, just barely a drop between my 2 wrists.
Happy Friday everyone!
I thought about wearing Ummagumma and methinks it is full credit. Anyway, I wanted to trot out fum so that’s what I went with! You smell fabulous!
No credit for me. It’s been a hectic day between errands and working. I grabbed Coco Noir at the last minute. I did get a compliment from a coworker, they said I “you smell like candy, what is that? It smells good”
I said really, like candy? It’s so funny how we interpret smells. I remembered to triple rabbit every time I woke up last night, lol, I need a good month! Off to read comments now.
Yay for remembering the rabbits! ?
Late to the party. I did remember the rabbits–for the first time ever. I woke up during the night, saw that it was a little after midnight, and said my rabbits. I hope it brings me a little luck, as I could use it.
I started the day in Kiehl’s Musk. No CP points, but my sniffer is a little out of commission from this awful cold, and I just wanted a comfort scent. Just a little while ago, I did spritz on some Fum Ariose from my brand new bottle, and I can smell it! Now if only my laryngitis will go away so I can talk again.
I hope you’re in the mend and that the situation with your dad resolves with any more hassles. Ariose was my favorite of the 3 as well!
Got to try Floris London #89 late in the evening. It wasn’t my sort of thing. But I did follow the rules today. lol
