Me: on vacation, day 7. (And I am now way behind on reading comments — I have not finished reading Tuesday's — but I should catch up by the weekend.) Right now I am wearing Weleda Sea Buckthorn Body Oil, so I smell like creamsicle.

Is the TDC really pepper-y?
I don’t find it very peppery. It has a slight touch of pepper and the vetiver is very noticeable. It is more herby than spicy to my nose. It is a beautiful rose scent.
Wearing the glorious Mitsouko. Not vintage, guessing this is the Fléchier version. Wearing perfumes like this I wonder why I have so many bottles.
Tea is MF Parzival again. I’m kind of warming to it, but will likely not repurchase.
I always asked myself the same question. What makes me feel that I need more perfumes that will not be at the same level of the ones I love. I wonder if I will ever stop getting more, no matter how hard I try.
I can totally relate to that. Just finished testing seven Nicolai perfumes and discovered that I didn’t like any of them half as much as what I already have.
I know I will want new perfumes. I have slowed down quite a bit though. I love changing my scents from day to day.

Scent twins! I don’t think St. Clair fragrances are all natural but they are mostly natural, so I think we should at least get partial credit. And in any case we smell great!

I DO love it! You have to like sandalwood, and if you really don’t like cumin this might not be a good choice … but it is gorgeous to/on me.
Thunked a bottle of Yves Rocher’s Neroli this morning and glad I recently got a back up because YR are closing down their UK division next month. I’m probably going to get another bottle of Voile d’Ambre while I can still easily get hold of it. It’s mightily inconvenient of them.
Oh I thought that was discontinued? Maybe it’s just not available on the US site. Either way, you smell so good!
Neroli is still available on the YR French site. I hope they won’t axe it anytime soon. Such a lovely fragrance!

Oh and I have a backup, too. I just get Mr Schneeze to mule some for me from the continent whenever he crosses the Channel. YR are ubiquitous over there. Odd that they don’t do well in the UK.
Neroli is so easy to wear it’s one of my no brainiers.

SOTD is Lush Avocado Co-Wash body spray. Such a bright, zesty green citrus scent for this grey day!
I think I’ll try layering some of my Lush body sprays in spring. Big + Avocado, The Olive Branch + Big, Avocado + Dirty, Avocado + The Olive Branch. They are all fresh scents, so it should work.
Glannys, I got my sample of L’artisan Piment Brulant. It is pretty nice. The chili pepper note is of fresh pepper not dry as I was expecting. However, I like it a lot and it will satisfy my craving until I can get a full bottle. Thank you! ?

Yes, it’s definitely fresh. I got a 5 ml decant after emptying my small sample – nice stuff for grey mornings in winter and early spring.
It wasn’t what I expected either but I like it a lot.
I’m wearing Twilly for perhaps the second time since I got my decant. I forgot what it smelled like, but it fit my mood better than Samsara, which I pulled out first.

Happy Valentines Day! I’m in Dilettante today and wearing a hot pink midi length dress with a v-neck. One of my hubby’s favs!
This is my first time in Dilettante and I think I’d like it better sprayed that dabbed, but it’s still lovely! Making me wish for spring in a serious way though.
Dilettante is so good! It’s not just orange blossoms – it’s the whole tree.
I’m also a fan of midi-length dresses. I don’t think I need to own another miniskirt or dress ever again, lol.
I love midi length but they’re hard for me because I am SUPER short so sometimes they fall weird on me. But this one is just right!
I’m not a dress person except when we go to Renfest, but am still quite pleased that midi dresses/skirts are back in vogue. ?

Currently single and not in a romantic mood. About to revisit Lonesome Rider today. I remember not caring for it too much but want to see if it has grown on me any. I have had a few that I didn’t like when I first tried but love now.
Hope you like Lonesome Rider better today. I really love it. There are so many scents that I did not like them first try and then they suddenly click for some reason.

I’m wearing Aftelier Wild Roses. It’s the most traditionally pretty of the ones I’ve tried this week, and maybe it makes me basic but I like it the best. Soft rose with freshly pureed peppers drizzled over the top for some zing. It’s making me smile, but with Aftelier’s pricing, not happy enough to buy!

I liked Wild Roses too, but like you, not enough to buy a FB. I own three Aftelier scents in FB–Secret Garden, Alchemy, and Bergamoss (the limited edition EdP from a few years ago). Secret Garden is mostly floral to my nose, with some darker and “dirtier” notes in the background, as if you were walking in a real garden, with the scents of the soil, leaves, stems, etc. mingling with the scents of the flowers.
Nicolai Kiss Me Intense in honor of Valentine’s Day which we mostly ignore. Went to Twisted Lily to pick up a30ml of Nicolai Neroli Intense and it had sold out since yesterday afternoon. Perfume gods keeping my low buy low, I guess.
It looks available on the website. Maybe they just didn’t have in store. There’s the 20% off thing going on.

I don’t really know the difference between almond and bitter almond in notes. I don’t get bitterness from this one. Not too sweet – the florals temper the sweet foody notes.

Morning all! SOTD is Hermes Eau des Merveilles, had a bottle stashed at my work desk. We had a hectic start – first, a message regarding campus power outage and subsequent closure and then we reopened so I had to scramble (trip over cats) to get dressed, lunch ready and out the door in 15 minutes!
I love Weleda products, I should try their Sea Buckthorn Body Oil. I started using Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil and it’s done wonders for my parched winter skin, I bet it’s great in a body product.

I love the Sea Buckthorn body oil, especially in summer and at the beach (where I think Robin is now!). I don’t love the Sea Buckthorn shower cream nearly as much; just finished a tube of it and won’t repurchase. But the texture, scent, and effects of the body oil are wonderful to me.

Last night I just got home from a very pleasant birthday mini-vacation (and it was a miracle because many flights were delayed or canceled due to weather), and today back to the regular schedule. But Valentine’s Day makes coming back better, and I’m off to the office wearing my traditional for this holiday black with pink and read hearts tights and de Rosine’s Rose d’Amour (just to be clear: I’m fully dressed, but the rest of the clothes isn’t comment-worthy). Will be organizing a happy hour in the office with chocolates and champagne for co-workers later today.

I do not necessarily read every single comment slowly word for word! But I do at least skim, and answer questions, and make sure nobody is being mean to anybody, etc. People here are 99.9% nice but I do think part of the reason for that is that we read and respond to the comments and try to keep people from arguing with each other or otherwise not keeping to the comment policy.
Hopefully people are all being extra nice this week because I am being extra slow

I managed to miss Valentines Day completely, didn’t even register that yesterday was Valentines Day until just now, and this post. The weird thing is that I went to town yesterday and couldn’t work out why the perfume counters were busy with youngish male shoppers standing around the Mon Guerlain display with Angelina Jolie’s face. Apart from that there were no hints of Valentines Day anywhere, that I registered. Just tons of cruise ship passengers wandering aimlessly.
Foraged my first blackberries from the forest yesterday. They were really tart and neither dog would eat theirs so I may wait a few more days. The manuka smells incredible now , sweet and sugary with a hint of rose, from honey dew I guess.

Petunia, I was in Ulta last night and found a great lipstick named “Petunia.” Beautiful shade that I snatched up, but then cheaped out and instaed bought 3 of the new Maybelline “Made for All” colors instead. “Petunia” was from a new line by Bare Essentials/Bare Minerals in case you want your namesake as you lippie. Beautiful color and texture.

Sooooo I finished testing the Nicolai perfumes from the discovery set. Turns out I like Patchouli Intense much less than I thought and I liked some of the others more. So yesterday I agonized over the 20 percent off at twisted lily – deciding finally to get a small bottle of cap neroli just to discover they were out of stock. So I ordered a bottle from beauty habit instead. I’m testing CN I found out that if a decent amount is applied then there is a radiant juicy neroli note that lasts forever in the dry down. Well worth it!
SOTD Ambre Sultan. I’ve been working in the studio all day and Sultan really puts me in a calm headspace

In Jolie Laide again today to stay in the natural CP. Cléo de 5 à 7. Not my favorite at the opening. A sourness that makes me wonder if top notes have gone off or something. It’s definitely softened the past few minutes, and I’m liking it more. I get the leather now a bit. And it is making me think of Agnes Varda…she’s a charmer.
I laughed. My husband wished me happy Valentine’s Day when he got up. Then he later asked, “are we exchanging cards or just letting it pass?” Now he’s gone downtown to a late afternoon movie with a friend. I’m laughing because I’m the one through the years who has made it a point to declare that VD is NOT a gift-giving occasion. And, because we had a cat who loved to chew flowers and another who liked to knock them over and play in the water, we never did that either. We are duds.
Of course it’s a gift giving occasion. Even half-Valentine’s Day is a gift giving occasion!

I did a Balenciaga’s Rosabotanical layered with SB 1997 incense this morning as I was craving Tauer’s Incense Rose (and don’t have even a dabber), what a nice juicy rose this is!! And the incense is long lasting. I liked it. I could still smell it after my bike ride.
SOTE: Le Cri layered over Le Labo’s Itis 39 body lotion. I feel dressed up!!

SOTD = Tauer Une Rose Chypree, from the sample stash. Since I had thought of this the first time I tried Olympic Orchids Ballets Rouges, I decided to wear it today. Yes, the two scents are related. Not quite as closely as I first thought, however. Yes to roses! ???

The AM perfume applications had worn down, so now I have applied SSS Velvet Rose. Not all natural, but on theme for Valentine’s Day. This may be my second favorite rose perfume of all time (after Shiseido White Rose). I wish I had bought more than a 5 ml travel spray before SSS closed down.
The Velvet Rose sounds like it is something special.
It is. I didn’t realize how special it is until I tried a lot of other rose perfumes and found most of them lacking in some way. I need to try Velvet Rose and AA Rosenlust side by side for comparison.
Happy Valentine’s day everyone! My sotd was Moulin Rouge, thanks to a lovely Nster?, I like the way it smells vintagy, but not dated. At first spray, it reminded me of Chantilly, I think. I’m off tomorrow and will be hitting the grocery store and pharmacy for chocolate!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I’m wearing some vintage Chanel No.19 edt tonight. We don’t really do much for Valentine’s Day either; as a rule we are keep things mostly low-key. I’m looking forward to get some chocolate tomorrow as well! I will have to sneak out at lunch to stock up.
My co-worker friend is coming over tomorrow night so we can binge-watch the latest season of Outlander. We pvr’d the entire season. She’s bringing the wine and we’ll order the pizza!
