Hump Day and Pie Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm ignoring the weather in Tauer L'Eau.
Reminder: on 1/25, wear one of your favorite fragrances of this winter (unless it's summer where you are, in which case wear one of your favorite scents of this summer).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Terracotta by Guerlain this morning
I guess I love white florals when its freezing out
Made a latte at home this morning and catching up on the WSJ and New Yorker while the 2 kiddos are at school this morning.
Listening to Queen (ever since I saw the movie I can’t stop)
I did not even see the movie yet, and I never cared for Queen, but even I am listening to Queen more since my son saw it and made me watch some bits on YouTube.
Enjoy your free morning!
Me neither! I liked them but wouldn’t be my first choice to listen to.
I liked some songs from the movie..but now I am addicted to all of them
I got a little obsessed as well after seen the movie! Watched videos on utube and downloaded samples of a few of Freddie Mercury biographies. Need to decide which one I want to pay for now.
I loved Bohemian Rhapsody, would see it again in a heartbeat!
There were parts of the movie when I felt as thought I was in a real life concert
Me too! A Night at the Opera was the second album I bought when it was released… I was 14! I would say to the many feline lovers here on NST – go see the movie for the cats! So funny!
Agreed! I love the cat scenes
Same here. I wasn’t a big Queen person, but I think I never paid attention. I liked a lot of the music in the movie, so I keep thinking “where was I?”
Haven’t seen Bohemian Rhapsody yet but I really want to!
I often crave white florals in winter too.
Which ones?
I’ve been wearing Child on the weekends. And dabbing from a sample of Ava Luxe Fleur d’Oranger.
I love Terracotta summer and winter! You smell gorgeous…I think I’ll wear that tomorrow!
Today I’m in Bruno Fazzolari Feu Secret, dabbed from my dwindling sample. After absorbing Undina’s step-back-from-the-edge advice over the weekend about choosing between Rien and Feu Secret, I “compromised” and ordered the Bruno discovery set, which also contains Lampblack and Ummagumma, two more scents I’ve been wanting to try. I confess I also ordered the travel size of Memo Italian Leather. So sue me.
Anyway, even though I merely dabbed Feu Secret, Mr. G announced that I was “wearing a lot of it”. Hopefully my coworkers won’t be gassed out. Have others of you found that Bruno’s scents should be applied rather sparingly?
The only one that’s potent on me is Ummagumma. But I don’t have Lampblack.
So sue me???!
I love Au DeLa – both regular and Narcisse have fb homes here, but I didn’t have a great reaction to Lampblack and want to give it another go as I know it’s a fav of Robin’s. I can’t wait to try Feu Secret, Umma and Five!
Please report back!
House made discovery sets and travel sizes are wonderful. It still feels more glamorous somehow than a large sample or small decant. I think you made a great decision. The thing is to think it through first and then enjoy whatever you decide!
I don’t find his scents to be sillage monsters. Maybe for the 1st hour they’re more noticeable but I find they retreat fairly quickly- at least the ones I’ve worn or own.
Hope you enjoy the discovery set! I’m also a Lamblack fan, but a non-perfumista sniffed me and told me she didn’t like what I was wearing, so apparently it’s not a universal like.
Sounds like a reasonable compromise 😉
I tried Feu Secret from a spray sample but it didn’t strike me as an especially potent perfume. I’ll try again. Any chance Mr.G suffers from allergies? My vSO does, and on those rare occasions when his nose clears completely, everything around starts smelling strong and strange, including my perfumes.
Feu Secret isn’t strong on me either. I’d say average when initially sprayed and then fading to skin scent.
I have the discovery set, and I didn’t find them to be sillage monsters. Of course everyone’s skin is different. Maybe you have skin that amplifies a scent? If so, rejoice, because there is nothing worse than hopefully applying a new fragrance and having it disappear within the hour.
Many thanks to everyone who chimed in! I don’t normally have scent-amplifying skin and Mr. G doesn’t have allergies, but he is sometimes more sensitive to fragrances than other times and I guess this morning was one of those random times. It’s lunchtime here now, nobody at work has complained (or even commented), and I can barely detect Feu Secret on my wrists. So far so good!
Very chilly here in SoCal this morning (houses are poorly insulated). Wearing Ambre Narguilé to warm up.
Hey, my house in PA, like most very old houses, is likewise poorly insulated!
But I do remember having people come to visit me in January in SoCal and not bring warm clothing because they assumed it would be tropical weather. Ha!
We visited my in-laws in Colorado once in February and I was burning up. I had brought warm clothing assuming it would be chilly (which it was). I hadn’t counted on them having the heat turned up so high . It must have been 80 in the guest room.
Wow! That’s hot. In my house you need a sweater 🙂
In this part of Spain the houses are built to cope with Summer heat. In Winter it is often warmer outdoors than inside. :^)
Casmir! Finally thunking my very old bottle, but thanks to a generous NSTer, I have a back up bottle waiting that will probably last me forever.?
madtownteen is home on a snow day today and I think we will bake some peanut butter cookies later this afternoon.
Mmmm, peanut butter cookies are my faves. Enjoy.
Me too!
Chilly and rainy here, but not freezing. I’m in Aftelier Antique Ambergris. This was the last of my sample, and I will probably be buying a full size in March. We get our annual bonus in late February.
Nice you won’t have to go long without it.
I’m wearing Chanel Beige from my sample grab bag. Pretty good.
That was my wedding perfume
Testing something called Love Diane by Diane Von Furstenberg that came with some samples I ordered. Meh fruit puff that seems to have picked up some vague ammoniated note.
Fortunately I applied it sparingly. Stephen Jones should blow this supercilious scent to kingdom come!
“Meh fruit puff” LOL
Amouage Beloved, which I love. Great in colder weather. It’s quite chilly here today but it was Sunny and as there is a little snow left, it makes it quite light outside.
You smell beautiful today!
You smell great!
Beloved is gorgeous.
Wearing Coromandel this “cold” SoCal morning.
Listening Close Lobsters “What is there to smile about”
Close Lobsters? That’s not a name you hear often enough these days.
A fine Scottish indie band (whose members include my old desk mate’s uncle.)
Oh haha 🙂 what a tiny world!
Wow!!! How cool is that, really cool band. It is a small world!!!
Love close lobsters!
Hmm, this is a different pie day than the one I’m used to. No matter; pie is great on any day.
Wearing Spicebomb today from a Sephora sample, and it’s actually really nice. Marketed for men indeed. I don’t think I’ll buy it, but if a bottle fell into my lap, it would certainly get some good wear. I do think the grenade bottle shape looks silly, and I’m annoyed that the company’s name has no spaces in it (it appears to be Victor&Rolf, all one word), but the scent is spicy and leathery with something sweet and fruity underneath.
My sister is very loyal to Spicebomb. “For men” or not, it works for her, she has an androgynous punk-rock kind of vibe. You smell great.
“Androgynous punk-rock vibe” sounds awesome 🙂 way too cool for me, but something for me to aspire to.
aye, i got confused too, thinking, “is it March *already*?!”
Inorite? I even went through a few moments of “Well, is it a European thing?…No, that’s 22 July. Is it perhaps 2pi?…No, that’s 28 June. Hrm.” 0.5pi? Even that should be either the 57th of January, or perhaps 0.57*31 = 18 Jan. Anyway, I find no logic to get us to 23 Jan.
Pretty much exactly my thought process. Except you managed to skip the imaginary 31 April option. (d’oh!)
Maybe it’s humble pie day for me…
Ahahaha. I’m sure April has 31 days in some universe 🙂
Guys. There is Pie Day and Pi Day. (And probably lemon meringue pie day too, and who knows what else.)
Spicebomb is great. I wish more men would wear it!
Maybe I can trick my boyfriend into using Spicebomb-scented shaving oil…. I’d love to smell this on his face!
You’re thinking about Pi Day, which is in March. And today is a PiE Day – one letter but almost 2 months difference 🙂 (I had the same confusion, I think, last year when Robin posted about this day). But I think that 2 days dedicated to pies is better than one – right?
Pie should be celebrated as often as possible!
Yes to that! 🙂
Thank you, I should have scrolled down before I commented 🙂
Ah but unfortunately you and Undina are very much mistaken, as Pi day is a Pie Day.
There’s a cute travel spray but you’re on a no buy. Sorry not sorry ???
>..<
mmmm, now I want pie for breakfast! haha
I’m in Rosabotanica again, not discouraged from my thunking mission yet. What is discouraging are those Oscar nominations – anyone else following that? Very strange extremes this year, foreign films made a great showing, but so did a couple movies that seemingly time traveled here from the 90s.
We’re on team The Favourite/BlacKkKlansman over here.
Ooh, we watched BKKK just the other night. My youngest, who is on the spectrum, found it unbearable to watch in places as he just took in the language and ignorance unfiltered by the consciousness of the movie and the audience, etc. Hannah Arendt got it right when she described the banality of evil. It ever was and it ever will be. I’m rooting for the movie too.
I can see how it would be a difficult movie for him in that case. Glad you liked it though! Give Spike his due already!!
Tom Ford Tuscan Leather. Great scent for this cold weather and one of the most delicious leather fragrances I have.
Agree. You smell good.
Scent twins with my guy! You both smell great! He owns TL, but I steal it all the time ha!
I would steal it too. 😉
Meringue of this pie perfectly fits the perfume I am wearing today. Wouldn’t you agree that Aedes Cierge de Lune is so fluffy and delicious?
Give me both! Good combination, I mean 🙂
I’ll happily share Cierge de Lune if you’d like
Cierge de Lune is beautiful.
Yes, love Cierge de Lune!
SOTD is Chance EDP by Chanel, not my first choice but the bottle was handy and I was running late; no time this morning to ruminate over perfume choices!
Happy Hump Day all! 🙂
Its not a bad one. I prefer the eau fraiche flanker
Me too! I may rehome this one and Amarige, both are powerhouses!
I have never smelled Amarige
It’s a big powdery tuberose bomb, pretty, but one spritz is perfect, I love the far dry down but not enough to keep a 3.4 oz bottle hanging around.
I went through a bottle of Chance when it first came out. I think it’s a good winter scent.
Robin reminded me of Bois des Iles yesterday, so that’s what I’m wearing. Needless to say, I am not sad about this.
You’re right, no need to be sad, as you smell wonderful!
Smelling classy!
Unless it is the last of your Bois des Iles… that would be sad.
Going big today in Jungle L’Elephant! It’s my 2nd day off (yesterday I was commando at my doctor/dentist appts). I finished most of my errands yesterday so I’m going to pop into Sephora today. Thanks to everyone who responded this weekend and talked me down from my craving for a stress-buy. I found a lot of good advice posted and I’ll be saving up instead for the splitmeet!
This is such a friendly and supportive community. I don’t get to post often but I try to catch up on the posts before bedtime and I just wanted to tell you all that you’re all a part of my little oasis of calm–thank you 🙂
I love Jungle L’Elephant! I will never get through my bottle of it in this lifetime. I’ll probably wear it one day next week. It seems to give me extra energy. Even though I find it a very Christmas-y scent, I sometimes also wear it in the summertime.
You smell great!
Smelling awesome today!
Jungle L’Elephant is great for winter! ❄?
Hove Rue Royale
You smell royal! 🙂
SOTD MMM Replica Dancing on the Moon. Another sample finished! I am definitely “not dancing on the moon” with this perfume, like yesterday with Lipstick On. It is a pleasant white floral, but not my cup of tea. Sometimes I have problems with ambergris and here is very prominent and annoying. Glad it didn’t make it to my “fb purchase list”
I have trouble with ambergris sometimes too, good to know, I don’t need to try it. The bottle is pretty nice looking.
And it is very long lasting. After 6 hours is still going strong. I will have to live with it for the rest of the day…
I tried it, and didn’t care for it either. It was just odd, and a little sharp, or something. Now I’m anxious to smell ambergris at Mandy’s when I get out there to Berkeley. I’m counting the days!
I agree that it is weird! Please, report on the ambergris at Mandy’s. I would love to hear about it!
I certainly will!
Wow, you have been finishing samples left & right lately!
Trying to reduce the amount of samples I have. I am using first the ones that are half full or less. I will be thunking many of them in the next couple of weeks.
At 30 degrees it’s positively tropical out there compared to the past few days. Out with my sister today to celebrate her birthday–must have pie!! SOTD–Regime des Fleurs’ Dove Grey….beautiful cold iris, perfect for today.
Your scent sounds lovely and happy birthday to your sis!
Hope your sister has a great birthday!
I hope that you and your sister had a great time today jepster! Happy Birthday wishes headed her way. ?
Happy birthday Jepster’s sister!
Today I am wearing Vero Onda in EDP. I have never worn this majestically strange and hauntingly familiar beauty before. I am not gonna lie, the first 15 minutes were rough but this perfume has settled down nicely and I am getting lots and lots of vetiver.
You smell great! (I am lucky enough to have a wee bottle of the extrait… so good it makes my toes curl)
Jacques Fath L’Iris de Fath, the recreation of the legendary Iris Gris. Is now available on their website:
https://www.jacques-fath-parfums.com/en/l-iris-de-fath/
I’m not sure about stores, but it was slated for Harrods London and I think Jovoy Paris.
Per Luca Turin, it’s not exactly like either the Osmotheque version (Vincent Roubert’s ideal formula) or the original (no actual iris!). He noted that, like many 1950s fragrances, the original smells almost dowdy today. (I always felt it needed to be worn with a tailored day suit, hat, and gloves.) He felt the new Iris strikes the perfect balance between old and new.
I’m intrigued. It sounds lovely but do you like it?
I haven’t sniffed the new one yet. I loved the Osmotheque version (which I only sniffed on a scent strip) and would happily wear the original.
I smelled it when it was first presented in Milan last spring. It’s quite heavy on clove. Not to mention the price is over 1000 euro…
Clove — that sounds like it would take it in a carnation direction?
Yes, that’s correct. Of course there was the abundance of orris but that clove/carnation kept humming in the back.
That to me would definitely take it in a fifties direction. I’m dying of curiosity! ?
It’s vintage vibe is inevitable 😉
Ouch. Guess I’ll pass.
I would be curious to hear how it compares to DSH Scent of Hope.
I was wondering the same?
I forgot to ask Luca if he had ever tried that one. I’m also curious!
Guerlain’s Encens Mythique today, and wondering if anyone has encountered the new ones in the wild (in the bee bottle rather than the flat clear-and-gold). I’d love to know if it’s the same, or if there have been noticeable changes, because it’s a lot more juice for a lot less money. This seems to buck most trends in perfume, so, I’m hopeful but dubious.
There is a youtuber U smells good, he recently compared the two and said he felt they were the same. He does a lot of Guerlain reviews.
Thanks for that pointer, lillyjo!
Eau claire des merveilles, why mess with success? 😀
If the shoe fits..
That’s a great one!
Love it! You smell great!
You smell fabulous! That’s been on my (long) To Buy list forever.
Hi All! Hump Day!
Am in ButterCream Body Butter from Carol’s Daughter and Fresh Cream- which weirdly meets the theme today!
That sounds perfect!
Amouage Dia – the decants I bought arrived with lightning speed from the East Coast and I had to interrupt my sample thunking for this one. I”m not sure if it’s a favorite winter fragrance, but it’s definitely just a favorite fragrance overall (for right now, at any rate. I’m fickle)! I’m going to compare it with Climat, to see how similar they are (if at all), and report back.
We are house twins today!
Dia transcends seasons.
Love Climat; never thought to compare it with Dia; will look forward to your report!
You smell wonderful! Dia is one of my favorites.
In my opinion, Dia resembles Climat much less than its older sister Gold. If you’re curious, you can read about the blind test I ran several years ago with 3 other perfume bloggers https://undina.com/2012/03/05/deja-vu-e2-huge-floral-vs-abstract-floral/
thanks for the link – just read this while eating lunch! The person I bought the decants from also had a decant of Gold that I decided not to buy based on the Turin review saying it was “huge” and I thought it would be too opulent. But I don’t find Climat opulent at all. Hmmm..maybe I’ll test Gold one day. Or perhaps there’s no need, since I own Climat and it’s way more affordable!
Oh, this is great — sorry I missed it the first time around! I still have some Amouage Gold — used up all my Climat — so I will dig that out and wear it soon. I would love to have more Climat, but worry that there are many fakes out there, especially on e-bay.
(I have to hide the pictures of Rusty from my own cats, as they are quite jealous of his beauty…)
I keeping reading the expression “thunking” here on NST. What does it mean?
I believe chocolatemarzipan coined it for the sound that an empty vial/decant/bottles makes when it hits the waste basket… 😉
For what it is worth, I did not find Gold “huge” when I sampled it.
Wearing a perfume I should have worn last week, Fat Electrician. I’m smelling so good!
Today at work we have a professional photographer coming in to take new headshots. We use our pictures for both our badge photos and an online photo directory of all the employees by department. I hadn’t decided whether or not to retake mine because I like the old one. But I happen to look nice today in a plain black shirt and dark red lips AND having a good hair day, so I signed up after all. I just have to keep looking nice for four and a half hours when it’s my turn. Wish me luck! ?
You’ll hold up, I just know it… Rock on!
Good luck!
Do you get a choice to keep the old one after a new one is taken, or do you have to go with whatever you get today?
I *think* we have the option to keep our old photo. I know they’re letting us choose our new photo from the options the photographer provides us.
I also went with a black top and red lips for my headshot few months ago (which now appears on my university’s website). Can’t go wrong with that combo!
A black shirt and red lip rock!
Picture taking seemed to have gone well. Thanks for the good vibes!
You had all the right vibes today! Fat Electrician is one of those perfumes that, when I wear it, I wonder why I don’t wear it more often.
I’m trying to ignore the weather, but I am heading to work. Today isn’t even the worst day, sigh…
Sotd is Cedre. I smell like I can take on winter.
Hope the weather gets better for you soon, lillyjo!
Me too!
You smell great!
Thanks!
We are supposed to be downright arctic this weekend- in the single digits- I bet you are too??
Oh yes, and next week even worse, plus another possible snow storm.
Ruh roh lillyjo! Will you be getting a break soon from that weather (I hope)?
Oh jalapeno, it’s going to get so bad, this might be worse than the 13/14 winter that was the worst ever. It all starts tomorrow.
BF Au Dela Narcisse today and loving it!
That pie looks delish- I love lemon desserts in general. And Tauer L’Eau does smell a little like a lemon merengue pie, IIRC ?
I love pie too!
I would pick pie over cake any day. Except cheesecake ?
Me too! Cheesecake pie is acceptable ??
Ran out of space, see below for details. Here’s the link:
https://www.dessertfortwo.com/dr-pepper-cake/
I’m more of a cake person, but wouldn’t turn down any pie. Still a bit fixated with the Dr. Pepper cake I made last weekend for dinner at a friends…..I will not make cake…..I will not make cake…..
How did I miss Dr. Pepper cake? Tell me more.
I’m also intrigued!
Hi lillyjo, we ran out of space below, so here’s the link to the cake I made. It’s chocolate, with a warm icing poured over a warm cake. The icing sets up a bit when it cools, which is the whole point for me….you kinda get cake and candy.
It’s a common cake in Texas, and probably elsewhere in the south. If you’d like a recipe that makes a larger cake, like a 9×13, let me know; I’ll research it for you. This one is quite small, uses a 6” round pan.
https://www.dessertfortwo.com/dr-pepper-cake/
I love dessert recipes for two; thanks for the link! Big fan of DP, too.
I was waiting for anybody to say that they like this pie! 🙂
It’s my vSO’s favorite, and I like it too but whenever we’re buying something for guests (or to take it to someone’s place) and I suggest to get this one, he always says that he’s the only one who likes it and nobody else does. And since I prefer not to argue about such small things, we usually end up buying something else – so I can’t confirm or disprove that his idea 🙂
I’ve heard people say they don’t like lemon desserts, so maybe? It does have to be a good one for me, though. I’ve had lemon meringue pie at diners that were subpar, where the lemon filling is that artificial-tasting canned slime.
Lemon meringue pie is my father’s favourite and his birthday treat every year.
Smart man ? My husband gets pumpkin pie for his birthday every year.
I happened to be reading through reviews and descriptions of fragrances by 4160 Tuesdays today and many reviewers wrote that “The Sexiest Scent on the Planet. Ever.” was just like lemon meringue!
Who would’ve though lemon meringue was sexy? In any event, I like eating it, but don’t necessarily want to smell like it.
I also love lemon desserts. One of y favorite cookies is a lemon ricotta cookie!
Oh, yum! Don’t think I’ve had those cookies, bit I have had lemon ricotta pancakes which are also delicious.
Definitely agree with you that bad lemon meringue pie is gross! I’ve had a “Nope!” slice or two. But when it is good, it is very, very good! ?
I am wearing Felanilla. One of my new winter favs. I’ve may need to buy a backup bottle as I’ve already gone through half with decanting and frequent wears.
You smell great!
If you decide to get another bottle, I’d like to contribute to its purchase (a kind of the reverse split – since I already have a decant from you 🙂 ).
Oh no…I’ll admit that I haven’t ever gone through perfume so fast but sharing it was truly my pleasure. I still have plenty and I’ll be fine for now. ?
Twins today! We smell great.
Hey Twin. You’re smellin fine today!
You smell utterly gorgeous!
So do you!
This will be the next FB i buy… when my decant is finished
I went through a few decants too. I misplaced my last decant and decided that I needed a bottle. I think that I was tired of looking for it.
Having a winter favorite might help ward off the blahs!
You’re beginning to sound like CM8! Heh! My word suggestion ribbon shows “CM8” as a valid word choice ???
It’s extra cold in southern AZ this morning and, like Robin, I’m also ignoring the weather in En Passant. I think I might like it better in cold weather than warm? Go figure.
I, too, sometimes wear En Passant in January or February. You smell great.
I was in the mode for some Rien Intense Incense today so here it goes! I’m really enjoying it.
I’m in Felanilla today, and loving it. Full bottle worthy, for certain.
It is 41 degrees here, cold for us, but I know it’s nowhere near what others are facing. Stay warm and safe, all! ?
Hey there twin!
Our temps went up to the 40s today. Thank goodness the ice is melting. The roof line is raining. ??
Yay! Glad it’s warming up a bit for you!
Stay warm! 41 is cold for southern folks!
We had a sprinkling of snow today, the first of the year. All cosy in YSL Cinema.
Oh my gosh, I love Cinema! You smell great!
I think it’s underated too.
Me too! I think it’s really gorgeous!
Thank you for approving my choice Kelly, I enjoyed it greatly. Yes, it a gem, grab bottles when you see some, it’s been discontinued I heard.
I agree, it felt so almondy/mimosa perfect, and it’s been discontinued, I think. Don’t hesitate to grab a bottle when you see one, it’s still affordable but prices will rise.
Commando today so far. Vet visit for the old girl, who continues to lose weight. Disheartening. I think time is short. She did get some fluids and a B vitamin shot. Got some prescription food and new syringes. I syringed her and put her down, and she made a beeline for the extra food in the dish. Gobbled it like crazy. We just want to have her a little longer, but want to ensure she’s comfortable. My sister and her husband said goodbye yesterday to their elderly dog…she was 16!
I had to laugh about another place where a sweet man was looking for a fragrance recommendation for his mom, who is 60. Why does her age matter?? Heck, I wear Twilly, which is explicitly marketed to young women. Sigh.
We have a beloved old puppygirl too, so I empathize with you, LizzieB. This time with them is precious. But she’s enthusiastic about her food, so that’s encouraging.
I’m sorry about your sister’s loss as well. Hugs to you and your pup. ?
Aging pets can break your heart…. had a British shorthair once, and when he was sick, i was heartbroken and cried…
It’s so hard when our pets age. Hugs!
And I agree about age and perfume. I wear whatever I like, regardless of whether it’s marketing for young/older/men/women etc!
Mojo for your doggy’s health!
Exactly our issue with our lovely 13.5 year old Golden Retriever. She just keeps losing weight. Has some heart/kidney issues, but not severe. She eats decently and seems happy but still it’s hard to watch. Hugs!!
I can’t get a dog past 12, would be thrilled to have one that lived to 16. But no matter how long we have them it’s never long enough. Smooches to your sweet baby girl, I hope you have more good time left with her.
Poor old kitty ? Been there, and I know you have already, too. Still not ready. I’m hoping the time she has left is as comfortable as possible. She certainly won’t be lacking for love.
It is very emotional and painful to see an older pet decline. Hugs.
Hello everybodeeeeeeee,
Enjoying a bit of (Lush) Gorilla What Would Love Do? today…..I bought the solid perfume and might spring for the spray next visit. Beautiful tangerine, lavender, and benzoin!
Noir de Noir for my fiance’s birthday today (it’s one of his favs). I will probably be too busy to check in tomorrow, but I plan to wear Baccarat Rouge 540 for my wedding tomorrow evening.
Happy Hump Day you good smelling people!
Squee! I hope tomorrow is absolutely magical!
Wishing you joy for your wedding tomorrow
Congratulations KellyC! Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness!
Best wishes for a lovely wedding and a wonderful future together!
Also, I want to say that I am trying not to overeat so I can fit nicely in my dress tomorrow, however I could REALLY use a piece of pie right about now! I’m going to save myself for our little white chocolate raspberry wedding cake tomorrow though!
That wedding cake sounds like it’s worth giving up a bit of pie for! ?
Wishing you the best day ever! Congrats!
Congrats! Many happy returns!
Yay! Congratulations!
Wow – wedding! Very happy for you. May all go smoothly and may you just relax and enjoy it all. We know you’ll be smelling wonderful.
Best wishes for your wedding and marriage, KellyC!
Have a wonderful wedding day!!
You must be so excited – I hope you’ll have a lovely day and evening, fun guests, delicious food, sumptuous cake – all while smelling fabulous!
I hope your day is perfect! Congratulations!!?
Have a very happy day tomorrow.
Yay! Hoping it’s a beautiful, special day for you both.
Very best wishes for a wonderful wedding tomorrow! ??
Wishing you both a beautiful day tomorrow and a lifetime of happiness! Congratulations.
And, that cake sounds so amazing! From time to time, I make cookies with white chocolate and dried raspberries for ‘my special people’.
Happy wedding day to you tomorrow!
Congratulations, kellyc!
How exciting!! Hope everything is perfect, including that cake.
Have a wonderful day tomorrow! Best wishes for a fabulous future to you and your soon to be mister. ❤️
Congratulations…so exciting! No doubt you will look beautiful and smell fabulous. Enjoy!!
How exciting, with all these preparations, I’m sure your special day will be perfect.
Spritzed myself lavishly in Peau de Bete by Liquides Imaginaires. Does not smell dirty on my, more like an beloved aunts damp fur coat with some cinnamon…. Sadly just a decant, as its very expensive.
Bought a decant of Chypre Mousse today, because it sounds so interesting.
Love that description!
Sampling Solstice Scents Loggia (dry spicy woods) on one hand and sixteen92 Blood &Honey (rich honeyed floral) on the other. My husband says that from about 2 ft away it doesn’t smell very good although he thinks they’re individually fine. Oh well.
Sounds like an accidental layering experimenr run amok!
This is my second day with my sample of Rose Nacree du Desert van Guerlain. I couldn’t find my jojoba oil, so used fractionated coconut oil on my skin before applying the fragrance. This time, it lasted many hours (forgot to check the time). It’s still listed at the main Guerlain site, so I think it hasn’t been discontinued. I have to see if my budget can stretch for it next month. I’ve just ordered a bottle of Jean Patou’s 1000 after falling in love with a sample. It’s not something I would have considered wearing a year ago. My tastes must be changing. It has a fabulous vintage vibe. (And if anyone wants to look up the original ad copy from the ad that was banned, it’s funny!)
I want to add that the Jean Patou 1000 I ordered is the edt. I would have loved to order the perfume, which Luca Turin convinces me I should have (lol), but it’s € 300 for 15 ml. Sigh.
I love that Guerlain too!
Encens Mythique is one of my loves
I got my sample pack from St. Clair yesterday (quite speedy) and have to chime into the chorus singing the praises of “Casablanca.” It’s really an especially beautiful scent, and somehow so “round” and 3D and realistic… I am getting mostly orange blossom and jasmine, and not so much of the tuberose that others mentioned; and I don’t pick up on many of the underlying “dark” aspects (as in Kafkaesque’s review, which is a rave), such as patchouli, but can definitely smell the oak moss and labdanum. I would like to be able to spray it to see what that’s like, what aspects it amplifies. This stuff is quite potent. I dabbed a lot on and feel I’m wafting a rather thick cloud, but a pretty one. It sits right at the edge of being cloying, but it isn’t. I don’t know if I could yet call it a winter favourite, but it’s a candidate, which makes sense given the story behind its creation. So, thanks to Jessica and her review for prompting me to buy this sample pack!
I get honeyed orange blossom. I have been wearing it on and off since it’s release. Glad that Jessica finally got around to reviewing it.
I get mostly orange blossom as well. Of course I have only tested a small dab. I need to try actually wearing it to see how it goes.
I didn’t get tuberose from it either. On me it’s a bright juicy orange blossom with funky animalic notes.
Hmm, thought I posted here earlier but now I can’t find my comment.
I’m finishing off my decant of Alyssa Ashley Musk, just in time for my replacement FB to arrive in the mail this afternoon.
My mom makes a killer rhubarb custard pie. The recipe came from either my grandma or great aunt – both had a way with rhubarb.
I love rhubarb desserts!
That sounds delicious. I may have to make one once rhubarb is in season!
Bois des Iles here, too. Working from home. Feeling annoyed with all the work emails. Yay hump day and pie day!
You smelled gorgeous today!
Paramela
I inevitably read that as “Pamela.” 😀 The notes sound delightful; too bad it was discontinued. (Also learned that the paramela plant produces an oil often used in perfumery; I wonder why we don’t see it listed in notes more often?)
I am wondering that as well…it comes in essential oil format and were I not on a no buy I might be tempted to buy some!
Turned out the doc appointment yesterday was just a meet and greet. That after a mile walk and climb over the Kombu ice falls to get there. The actual physical is in a month! In any case I got really emotional after I got home. Talking about health history and life circumstances really triggered me. Anyone else have this reaction after a health appointment?
Today’s sotd is another bucketful of LDDM. So cozy.
Oh yeah it didn’t help that I weighed in at 4kg heavier than I was when I moved here in October. Those doctor office scales are pure evil. I’m certain that there is a worldwide conspiracy to set them all at least a few lg heavier than normal scales?
Truth.
Thank goodness for LDDM!
The doctor’s scale is not my friend, either.
You’re just so vulnerable in a doctor’s office.
I read “Pie Day” in the caption, and immediately thought of March 14. Wrong kind of pi(e), I guess.
SOTD = AG Heure Exquise EdP, from the sample stash and a lovely NSTer. This is fitting right in with the calming and comforting vibe I really seem to need for this winter.
Hehe I was also confused about the date of pie day. But I’m all for two special days for pi(e). I will not eat pie today, but since I did eat it yesterday and Monday, I don’t feel too bad about it.
Since you’ve fallen for Tam Dao, I’m curious if you’ve tried 10 Corso Como, another beautiful sandalwood?
Two pie days is for wusses. I have THREE! One on March 14, one on 22 July (for Europe, 22/7), and TWO Pie Day on June 28 (also known as Tau Day, but you can’t eat Tau).
More pie days = better!
I haven’t tried 10 Corso Como yet, therabbitsflower. Right now I am on a sample no-buy, until I get more samples rehomed or thunked.
Well I’d be glad to send you some from the bottle 50_Roses sent me for free. Now or whenever you want to try it. You can email me at my username at gmail.
Thank you! I will email shortly!
You’re smellin’ mighty fine!
Thanks! The green notes in this are fantastic in cool weather.
Glad that HE is providing comfort and you smell lovely.
Thank you Petunia!
Oh, you smell great, it’s such a good one.
Making the most of a rare spell of grey. cloudy, windy, cool weather this week. Today was “Hystera” from Gabriella Chieffo.
Top: bergamot & clary sage;
Mid: iris;
Base: vanilla, patchouli, labdanum and cashmere wood.
On me this is long-lasting rooty iris, so I have to be in the humour for it. :^D
Hope it proved to be just what you wanted for the day!
Oooh la la – rooty iris? Taking notes…
SOTD = FM Iris Poudre
From my new 30mL. I am happy to report that it smells the same as previous packaging. Iris Poudre (6 sprays, y’all) is wonderful all around, but the best part is the drydown. Someone, bottle the drydown STAT!
I’m not often struck speechless. This one did:

Nature-made and perfect!
Glad to hear that your new Iris Poudre was as good as your previous stuff!
I breathed a sigh of relief for sure!
Nice photo!
Thank you!
Wearing L’Heure Bleu edp tonight. I’m trying to give some attention to my bottles that don’t usually get out from their storage area.
Hope everyone is having a good week so far!
Just saying hi! Hope you are having a good week too ?
