This is going to be mostly an ELDO week for me. Today I am wearing Vrai Blonde. This is a fun scent. While I do not care for the opening, I enjoy it once it settles on my skin.

I’ve kind of given up on decants. I have them in a zippered mesh travel case, and I have found I hardly ever open it because my full bottles are so much easier to see and get to. I need to do something about that. ?

And on an unrelated note, someone at work left a sample of ELDO Charogne in the ladies room last week (some of us do that anonymously – it’s fun), so unless I hear from you all that it’s awful (or I hate it), that will be my CP scent on Friday.
It’s not awful, but I found it really challenging and tricky – changing between sharp chemical leather and soft florals. I advise pre-testing it.
And on me it’s a bitter, floral vanilla…

Yes I do! One of the ones who I know is a fellow perfumista-slash-bathroom-Robin-Hood(ette) is one of the most amazingly funny and quick-witted people I’ve ever worked with. And most of the rest are smart, kind and generous people – I feel very lucky to have the coworkers I have. I was not so blessed in prior jobs.

I’m in the 2007 Missoni and loving it. Indigestable chocolate orange, but for some reason I find it very compelling. I bought a bottle before the Guide was published; now I wish I had more than my single 30ml bottle.
I have been posting my SotD each day On my Instagram and realized I hadn’t been posting any of my first loves (mostly because I rarely wear them now!) So This week I thought I’d focus on perfumes that mean something to me personally, not just that smell great.

Hiding in my sample box are four carded ELDO fragrances! I will be mostly wearing one a day this week. Today is Hermann a Mes Cotes. I use the whole sample. I dab some around and then place the rest of the sample in a little spray bottle and use the whole thing up. Thunk! There is an excellent review of this fragrance on this site and I must say this is a beautiful pepper and ambroxan perfume with chewy sillage. I think the chewy is provided by the blackcurrent bud and frankincense that is in there. This is entirely savory, I also smell bay leaves. I do not own a bottle from this house but that could change!

Fleur de Peau to add some light and beauty to a cloudy day spent at work.
How do you find the longevity to be? I find two sprays lasts me 12+ hours, which is impressive for what is kind of a skin scent.
Same here. One spray and I can still smell it the next day. It’s got that Iris rose musk ménage a trios thing going on but very understated and refined.

Sampling a GORGEOUS gourmand…..Jovoy Remember Me. It’s a beautiful chai scent, with a scalded spicy milk note that is just perfect. A bit of leather keeps it from getting too sweet. GOOD STUFF…on the perpetual wishlist!

It warmed up a bit (which, for here, means in the 20s), so I can justify continuing to play with the Hermes Jardins. Today is Jardin Sur Le Nil. It’s another win, though I kind of wish I had more of that weird vegetal top note, by the time I got to work it that aspect of it had faded on me.
Anyone watch the True Detective premiere last night? Better than season 2 already imo, and if they bother to develop the female lead as it looks like they’re going to, should even have a leg up on season 1. But I’m a big fan of Mahershala Ali, I’ll watch that man in anything. So maybe my bias is showing, lol

Haven’t watched the first two episodes yet, but they’re on my DVR. Haven’t decided yet whether we’ll watch week to week or let the episodes build up and then binge. Most shows we seem to like more when we watch all episodes at once. An exception to that is probably Legion because the episodes are so out there and a lot to take in individually.
Binging is usually how we watch things as a streaming-only household, but I finally sprung for HBO NOW because I wanted to see Big Little Lies so we watch those on the weekly. I’m impatient ?

Starting my work day with vintage Etro Messe de Minuit, appropriate for the greyness of the weather, layered with Maria Candida Gentile Rrose Selavy. It is an inspired combination – today it strikes me as smelling much better than either alone.
I bet Barcelona was AMAZING.
Oh, indeed it was. I highly recommend a visit. It is a beautiful city, with so much to see and do…and eat.

A rare, dreary NM Monday calls for No. 19 (edt).
My little Nacho puppy is home alone for the first time today. He’s been going to work with his daddy but he was finally getting too rambunctious and wanted to run down the halls. He has a puppy playpen though, with his favorite blanket, crate (he loves to go to sleep in his crate), all his toys, water, etc. We also ordered him this little patch of grass in a box to potty on (we take him outside to the grass to go). Hopefully he won’t be too sad! I played with him hard before I left and it definitely looked like he was ready for a nap when I was leaving.

Commuting Woes:
I heard a commotion in the other track facing where I was standing but I couldn’t see anything because the train was packed and the windows were blocked. It sounded like there were 3 women trying to one-up each other by speaking over each other. The doors finally closed and left the station. The commotion was actually by one person drugged out of her mind. If there was a violation for noise pollution, she should have gotten 3 tickets. Le sigh…
Our local news this morning showed a clip of The No Pants Subway Ride. Talk about commuting woes!?
Portland’s No Pants ride was yesterday, too. It was about 45F and those folks looked cold.

I try to do fun little things to avoid it but I had some Monday blues today. In the gourmandy fig that is Orla Kiely, this brand has 2 other fragrances, a geranium and I don’t remember what, I never tried them and now will probably never will.

I believe I have the geranium hand soap. I think I got it for the leaf shingle pattern as yes, I also tend to get large “samples” of soap.

Felanilla today as i forgot the CP.
But yesterday i remembered to spray some Dzing! before heading to a Varieté show with dinner. This was a belated Christmas party for work, but even better, as everyone was not stressed about getting presents and all.
Great show with various circus artists, a human beatbox, a nice band and a very fine four course dinner.

It’s not that cold where I am for January, but definitely gray outdoors – gray sky and almost no snow right now, so the ground has a kind of gray look, too. I am in PdN Cap Neroli to brighten up my mood.

I am testing St Clair Scents First Cut and Gardener’s Glove today. I really liked the opening of First Cut but on me it progressed rapidly out of that phase, almost skipped over any middle transition and landed in the base notes. So for the majority of the time I’ve been wearing it, I’ve been getting predominantly tobacco leaf and immortelle. I was expecting something much brighter, more golden summer with flashes of green, but this is quite brown and autumnal on me.
I find Gardener’s Glove more interesting, but I didn’t like the opening and middle which were too barber shop for me and at one point I got a hit of wintergreen rubbing alcohol. Or Ben-Gay? Six hours in I started to get some leather. I think if I sprayed more, I might get more out of it. Whether or not I would ever take the time to do so is questionable. I used to maintain a “try again” sample pile, but at least for now I no longer want to do that. Thank u, next!
I got an atomizer sample set and so far have only tried Casablanca (w00t!). I am looking forward to First Cut for sure – maybe it has similarities to PdE Tabac Tabou based on your description?
Regarding First Cut, I think that my expectations got in the way of my experience. I wouldn’t say that it’s similar to Tabac Tabou, but maybe a tad if you layered that with Blanche Immortelle? I find it altogether reminiscent of many natural/mixed media perfumes from SSS, Aftelier and Hiram Green. My skin always amps up the base notes and I tend to really love the brighter top notes and the middle floral transitions that can be obliterated by anything heavier. I can’t wait to hear your impressions!

Popping in late to say EdM, my bff-4-evah, and I had a lovely day together. It’s been too long.
Reminder to self: sometimes the perfume in the sprayer gets stale, waste a few spritzes before applying to skin if a bottle has been neglected for a time.
It’s raining buckets here, I hope those of us getting snow are snuggly and warm and safe.

Late to the party today. SOTD was SSS Winter Woods, just because I love it, and it is winter, and I can’t really get away with this one in warm weather. I don’t have anything really for the CP this week. I do have some samples of the Eris perfumes somewhere, but I have not even tested them yet, and I don’t like to wear or test an unknown sample on a workday. It’s too hard to get rid of it if it turns out to be a scrubber.
All 11 freebies I listed the other day have now been claimed. I sent off the first batch of eight packages yesterday, and I will get the other three sent off in the next few days. Between last month’s freebies and this month’s, I have now re-homed 19 bottles and nearly 800 mL of perfume.

I really had too many bottles that I never wore at all. Mostly they just didn’t work for me, or were always overshadowed by other things that I love more.

Wearing Jasmin et cigarette tonight. Its my only ELDO since I passed on a sample of Putain des Palaces to a co-worker; it went way too sweet on me – money saved. Glad for the sample though as the notes sounded like it should have worked.
However, I’m eyeing up a bottle of Fils de Deux as it sounds fantastic and its a reasonable price. Thanks to all those who created a lemming..?
