Almost-Friday and National Bittersweet Chocolate Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: more community project points + a good dose of cheer in Bvlgari Omnia Paraiba.
Reminder: on 1/11 we're doing My Precious...wear a scent that references jewels or precious metals. Suggested by thegoddessrena.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image from the exhibit "Bulgari. Tribute to Femininity. Magnificent Roman Jewels” at the Kremlin museum through 13 January 2019.
Bvlgari Omnia (the original). I wish this lasted longer because it has the loveliest soft spices. Happy to be back in my collection after a week of trying NEST, which didn’t really suit me.
You smell great MMK!
Ostara for me today. No points for this one, but it smells like gold. Always makes me smile. 🙂
Coumarin, you smell gorgeous – & you get points from me for sure!
Another sadly discontinued one, though I managed to snag a bottle for my best friend when I was in Edinburgh around the time it was being discontinued, & got it for a really silly price – she keeps it for “best”, although a couple of times when she wore it to work she said it was the only fragrance she’d ever worn that male colleagues complimented her on!
Oh I love that one. Will wear it tomorrow, thanks for reminding me.
I had a co-worker enjoy said it smelled so good Breed but it for his girlfriend. I warned him that it was discontinued so breed better hurry! Beautiful stuff.
He’d
I was in Penhaligon’s Mayfair shop not long after the new owners took charge & the ladies there, longtime staff, were deliciously indiscreet about certain fragrances, including Ostara, being discontinued, & about the new range with the faux aristocratic back stories & ‘Ye Olde English’ bottle tops (their term), ridiculous price increases etc – it was highly entertaining & informative, but I should pop in again on my next London visit to see if said ladies are still there…!
That’s a big stone on that picture! 😯
I am in Atelier des Ors Lune Feline. The name of the house is a good fit for the CP, plus, as cazaubon mentioned yesterday, there are gold flakes in the bottles (even though I only have a hand-decanted sample).
This is a cozy scent for winter. I believe it belongs to the category lucasai called “cuddlefluffs”. It is sweet, warm and forms a light cloud round me. When I tried it last week, I thought I mostly smelled suede and sweet notes. Today I get vanilla and musk. I miss suede, but I still like it. It’s neither too animalic nor too sweet or heavy.
Yay Glannys, I almost went with Larmes du Desert but I can’t find it. I am seriously debating a FB as I revisited my decant again and forgot how much I love this one.
You smell amazing.
Thank you!
I have not tried Larmes du Desert, but based on the notes it is right up my alley.
I love Lune Féline too, you smell wonderful.
Lune Feline is the priciest bottle I own and I used to really love it but now I get some synthetic note that I just can’t get past – i may still wear it for CP
Sorry to hear it – I hate when this happens.
I haven’t tried this perfume yet but it sounds very appealing. Enjoy your cuddlefluff! 🙂
That’s a cuddlefluff alright!
Omg, is that another gorgeous emerald necklace?!! That cabochon is to die for!
If you click on the link above for the exhibit, you can see what it looks like on someone’s neck.
Wow! Even bigger than it looks here–it’s more than golf-ball sized, it’s tennis-ball sized! I’ve seen emeralds that big a few times in museum exhibits–also in Topkapi palace–you can scarcely believe your eyes!
Oh my, more dazzling Emeralds And ROMAN jewelry , great pick Robin!
IDK what I brought with me that would qualify for the CP, I am rooting through my stash. Atleast I can go with ‘gold’ in the titles for partial credit (but you should see the size of my stash).
I am hoping to ‘thunk-a-bunch’ of samples and small decants while here.
It is freeeeezing here I need amber to warm up, ok Ambre Russe sample it is! The color is Ruby red at least.
I forgot where you are now that it’s so cold?
SotD is Tea for Two, and another sample is thunked.
I’m about to make some carrot cake cupcakes to bring into work tomorrow. I make a pretty killer carrot cake, if I do say so myself. Mine has crushed pineapple, which adds moisture and texture. Plus! You’re getting a serving of vegetables AND fruit, so really, it’s more like health food than it is like cake.??
Oh My – that sounds so good!
I am a chocoholic but good carrot cake always makes me detour. What is your frosting made of? Cream Cheese? Moist carrotty cake and a wicked frosting heaped high is so delicious.
Yes, a package of cream cheese and an entire stick of butter.?Which…probably cancels out any of the health benefits of the carrots. Lol.
Damn that sounds good! Would you be open to sharing the recipe?
Sure! I will try to post later today, or tomorrow, so check back.?
Where’s my fork?
?
Your lucky coworkers! I ❤️carrot cake.
Me too!
I’m so hungry now!
C’mon over! I’ll save you one.?
Mmmmm, carrot cake cupcakes…oops, drooled on my keyboard!
?
You are killing me! I have been off sugar and processed foods since New Year’s… coffee and alcohol too. And started daily exercise. My goal is to gain five pounds of ??. But after your description I am craving carrot cake ??
Oh no, sorry to tempt you cm8!
I have done the no sugar thing too and it can be hard. Not so much because I don’t have the willpower, but they sneak it into everything! I was suprised when I really started reading the labels of everything I buy. I mean, Lawry’s season Salt?! Just why.
I CANNOT go without coffee though!? You have my admiration!
I heard in good authority that carrot cake cupcakes travel well through USPS. Here’s my address …. ?
Hahahaha! Yep and the post office will fully cover shipping if you send 2 packages. One to NJ and one to Vermont
Hey, I will cover shipping direct to me!
Ha! I think the cream cheese frosting may not survive the trip though.?
You can just put the frosting for mine in a little Tupperware and I’ll ice it myself ?
LOL if lil Tupperware’s full of cream cheese frosting are being sent out, I’ll take mine without the cake because everyone knows cake is just an icing delivery system?
Want. This. Right . Now.
Passing you a virtual cupcake.
Carrot cakes really are delicious and the addition of pineapple sounds especially appealing, yes for sharing the recipe, many thanks in advance.
Happy to share!
Carrot Cake recipe:
2 cups flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground mace
Mix these ingredients together and set aside.
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
1 3/4 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup drained crushed pineapple
2 cups grated carrots (about 3-4)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Beat eggs, add oil, sugar and vanilla. Gradually mix in flour mixture. Lastly, hand fold in pineapple, carrots and walnuts.
Batter will make one 9×13, two round 9 inch, or 24 cupcakes. Bake at 350. Cakes take 50-60 minutes and about 20-25 for cupcakes depending on your oven. I generally watch closely toward the end and the top will turn golden brown and toothpick comes out clean.
Frosting:
8 oz. package cream cheese
1 stick butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Don’t forget to lick the beaters.?
This sounds so good!!
Awesome!!! Thank you ?
yum, excellent! thank you for sharing 😀
THANK YOU!!! This is getting listed as” Madtowngirls’ Carrot Cake for the GODS!’
Lol. Enjoy!
Yummmm!
In lieu of a perfume, I’m using up a tube of Almond Zum Body Lotion. It’s going nicely with the remnants of last night’s Amber Flush oil.
Thanks to everyone who shared makeup recommendations yesterday! And for commiserating with my acne woes. I should have known NST would be a fountain of knowledge on both makeup and skincare!
There is always someone who knows something about what you need, it’s true!
Still on my leather kick in Cuir Ottoman today. I’m near thunking my tiny dab sample, but have a hefty decant on the way to replace it. I so wish PdE would do smaller bottles for all of its fragrances.
Yes to travel sizes and you smell great!:
I think all brands should have smaller (perfumista-friendly) bottles!
You smell good.
I’m wearing Gallagher Carpe Cafe from a discovery set that I rarely touch. This one isn’t bad.
Just looked it up, it does sound nice! I take it you’re not impressed with the brand, though?
Celebrating chocolate day with Mancera Choco Violette. Had nutella on my toast for breakfast. The only thing missing was Kusmi chocolate tea. Off to find some online now.
Ugh. Tried to order some Kusmi tea over the winter holidays, during their sale. Their website was HORRIBLE and the order never went through. The customer service rep I eventually got in touch with was useless. Combined with the rude service I got at the Kusmi shops in Paris and Toulouse, I’ve decided to wash my hands clean of them. I have enjoyed their tea, but other people make great tea, too, with better customer service.
But! Hope your order process goes better than mine did.
Well, as it turns out, there is no more plain chocolate Kusmi tea to be had, only spicy and mint versions, so I ended up ordering the Harney & Sons chocolate tea. Hope I like it!
The Harney and Sons factory is in my neck of the woods! I am sure it will be a great tea….and it would also go nice with the Mona di Orio Vanille I am sampling for the first time 😉
I have the Kusmi vanilla tea, this morning I mixed it with their violet tea, will try it with the chocolate too!
I had absolutely amazing service as the Kusmi store in Berlin. It’s annoying that they’re so inconsistent!
What a shame! I have ordered from them a few times with no problems.
Good morning Y’all!
Having a completely different olfactory experience than last time in Mugler Angel EdT. Last time I got more of the berries and sweetness. Today I’m projecting a bit too much of the patchouli, but I’m sure it will settle down at some point…..maybe…..I hope….. 🙂
Two questions for perfume peeps in the know:
1. Where can a US perfume lover sample Panah London scents? How can I order, or where can I go?
2. If I order a scent online from Europe, would I pay duty tax and other fees at the website, or later on at the post office?
THANKS Y’ALL!
Don’t know about 1, but I ordered a bottle from Teo Cabanel a couple of years ago and did not have to pay anything at the US post office. But that may depend on how the shipper does the paperwork.
The duty-free amount of purchases from abroad is around $800 so unless you’re really loading up I wouldn’t worry about it.
I order from First and Fragrance and Essenza Nobile in Germany regularly. No duties or taxes have been charged, but sometimes DHL charges a $24 customs clearance fee.
I had purchased emerald earrings from a store in Istanbul when I was there on a cruise. I was told $x shipped. DHL charged me the fee and I disputed that amount with Amex out of the total owed. I got a credit for it no questions asked as it probably would cost Amex more to resolve it with the seller than to just give me the credit!
I thought it was for purchases over a certain dollar amount, but it appears to be random, as I had a very large order come in at the end of the year and was not charged the fee.
Thank you Cazaubon- you may have solved my issue too.
Thanks everyone! I am thinking about ordering Powder and Dust from SP Parfums, but didn’t want any surprises later…. 🙂
powder and dust…that sounds fantastic!
I am wearing Chanel 1932 and drinking Earl Grey tea. 1932 serves two purposes today:
1. I have a dental appointment, and this is a pretty, calming scent.
2. It was inspired by Chanel’s Bijoux de Diamants collection, Chanel’s first high jewelry collection. I read this on Chanel’s website this morning 🙂
I dread the dentist. Hope it goes well.??
Thanks !! It went well. I don’t have to go back for another six months, unless a dental emergency comes up.
Entering the lists today in Herve Domar Tanzanite. The evident clove makes me think it leans in a carnation direction…
This made me go and google Tanzanite. That is a lovely stone!
They are gorgeous in “the flesh” and can vary a lot in color from a gorgeous lavender shade to quite deep blue or purple. I didn’t know there was a tanzanite perfume! Interesting. Somehow clove sounds appropriate.
In real life, I wear minimal jewelry. In my fantasies, though, I have parures in all the colors of the rainbow… 🙂
I am wearing Black Gold by Ormande Jayne for the CP. I read mixed reviews but like it. Not that I would ever buy it. The price is crazy expensive.
I do miss “old” Ormonde Jayne.
Vintage Emeraude for me today.
Lovely!
Oh how perfect!
You can wear it with that necklace!
Another one I didn’t realize was an option this week. You smell great!
Twins!
In David Yurman Extrait for the CP. This was a very inexpensive blind buy for me and it is quite lovely.
I heard DY was great. You smell fab!
Thank you!
Inspired by a poster yesterday I’m wearing Nest Indigo to compare figs. This one is more about the fruit than the leaf. I have a small rollerball of this that I don’t remember buying and has some kind of powdery looking residue in the bottom, AND I much prefer the Hermes. Indigo’s a fine enough office scent which is good for my lifestyle but I feel like I would like it better as a candle or something, I have plenty of prettier work-friendly scents already.
Rollerballs often end up with residue…
SOTD couple sprays of amber Sultan. Today it has a fruity note. What fruit? Well it’s Serge so it’s the post stew pot spawn of something plummy and something quincy after they’ve had their way with each other in the fermentation barrel.
I guess that would be a cp fail but I sure am going to make the laundromat smell grand
Robin I’d like to suggest a future cp. Wear a perfume that you are embarrassed about liking but love anyway. Extra points for celebrity, Avon, drugstore, Tinkerbell, etc. Mine is Deisel Loverdose and I have a weakness for Brut cologne.
Good one! I like Brut (and Old Spice) too.
I believe we did a Guilty Pleasures CP! I’ve never heard of Tinkerbell, but that does certainly sound like a good guilty pleasure name 🙂
I love your description of Ambre Sultan! I have never gotten that, but it’s funny anyway 🙂
Koyel is right, we have done that one! Will put on the repeat list though.
Jeux de Peau for me today. I think I maybe have one(?) fragrance that could kind of fit the CP, so I’m just enjoying lovely cool weather scents.
I love the jewelry photos!
Love JdP! You smell amazing
Not playing along today, but wearing Chypre Mousse in the cold and loving it!
And that’s what matters, of course.
I am wearing Pink Quartz by Olivier Durbano so for the sake of our community project let’s consider quartz to be a precious gem stone, okay?
Semi previous? I’m surprised that more NSTRs aren’t wearing more from this line. It’s perfect for the CP.
Precious…
I’m with you,love Pink Quartz.
I think miners search for gold in seams of quartz, so quartz has a lot of potential!
Hi all! My SOTD is SL’s Borneo 1834 layered over Tauer’s Amber Flush body oil. I am enjoying the combo! 🙂
Mmm, sounds good!
SOTD is Eiderantler, which I really enjoy for the scent and its longevity on me. I got a few JSP samples last year and have been quite happy with them. I don’t think they have anything close to a gem title, or even a known English word.
I think I could make a cooy of that necklace if I had a green nespresso pod. Wearing JM Marigold and Sambac Jasmine which is nice in the drizzly heat. Reading a newish biography of Mary Shelley ( Fiona Sampson) and planning my day.
?
You smell lovely. I’m testing the new JM Bronze Wood and Leather. It’s more of a smokey leather.
Ooh, how’s the book?
Took advantage of STC 3ml decant special. Went with Civet and Hyrax. Wearing Dioressence today.
You smell lovely, I should wear Dioressence soon.
I’m wearing Boucheron Jaipur Saphir. I used to wear this a lot back in the day. It’s a bit too heavy though for me now, though the dry-down is pretty soft and powdery. It’s perhaps the most beautiful bottle I have! Very gem-like. If you want to see more splendid jewellery, this time including a Boucheron sapphire bracelet, look here: https://www.fredleighton.com/makers/boucheron/ (No affiliation whatsoever, alas!).
We’re almost twin, I am in Jaipur.
Wow, some really pretty jewelry on that site!
Playing along in Iris Silver Mist, aka as Turnip Surprise. Does anyone else love Blackadder here? I think Turnip Surprise is from the episode called Beer, where Blackadder receives a visit from his great-aunt Lady Whiteadder, a stern and puritanical woman. It’s very funny and the opening of ISM is so earthy and rooty that carrots or turnips come to mind very easily!
Hahaha!
I haven’t watched Blackadder for ages, I particularly like the Elizabethan season, and Beer is my favourite episode 🙂
Blackadder! ?
LOVE Blackadder! Esp. the season with Hugh Laurie, but really I love all of them.
Who would have thought that government shutdown would make TSA agents at airports to be so thorough! ? I had a couple of flights right before the shutdown, so I can clearly see the tactics of sabotaging the process by doing everything reeeaaally slow and as thoroughly as I don’t remember them doing it even with high levels of security alerts in the past. “Luckily,” the flight is being delayed so even with the longer security check I still have time to complain here.
Not participating in the CP today because I’m wearing Volutes – our traditional plane scent that we share with my vSO (not sprayed, I made a small roll on decant for flying).
Yeah, I’ve read they are recommending at least three hours in advance for international flights. Glad you made it!
Wow, I didn’t even think of that. My husband is hoping that grant agencies don’t get totally messed up.
Doing my own Personal Chanel Week*. Today is Box of Eels which is perfect as always.
*Personal Chanel Week is brought to you courtesy of a very unpleasant experience last weekend, in which I oversprayed Kilian Boys. An act which I continue to regret as it’s still lingering on my watch band. Anyone want the travel spray for free? I need to get it out of my house.
Sorry for your unpleasant experience: I did it a couple of times, so I know exactly how you feel.
Enjoy your Chanel week!
Nutmeg, cinnamon, lime sounds good.
Dibs, if the offer still stands, Luna Green.
Bear, if you’re in the US it’s all yours. Email me your address: lunagreen28 at gee mail.
I am indeed in the USA. Thank you!
Oh no! I hope the Chanel is cleansing your palette.
It’s been a while…wearing La Colle Noire today. I hadn’t worn it in a long time and I’m quite enjoying it.
Great to see you here again, Elizabeth! I missed you.
Hey! Thought maybe you were over the whole perfume thing? You smell nice. I’ve worn that a few evenings recently- I think it reminds me of one of the Byredo roses.
You smell great! Good to see you here again 🙂
Great to see you, I’ve been thinking about you. You smell wonderful.
I just looked up your perfume – it sounds amazing!!
I’m doing terribly for this week’s CP: SL Five o’clock au gingembre today. I smell good, though 🙂
Everything I’ve worn in 2019 has been from a sample/decant. Just the horrible thought of them evaporating away is making me lavish them with more love, which means neglecting my bottles. BUT I’m being more discriminating about which decants I’m wearing, and every scent I’ve worn in 2019 so far has been not just good but great!
I think Gingembre could easily qualify as precious!
That’s very generous of you 🙂
That’s a fantastic way to start the year. You smell fabulous!
I was craving something on the fresher side so sprayed myself with 7 Virtues Orange Blossom from a Sephora sample. It’s feeling pretty meh to me. It’s fresh, yes, but kind of bland, watery, and fleeting.
Is there a 7 Deadly Sins line? I’d like to see that happen ?
Well, there used to be My Sin. I still have a partial bottle, and it definitely is not bland, watery, or fleeting!
Close, but I’d really like something called Sloth ? Maybe Zoologist is working on it. Lust is done already…
Don’t forget Envy!
Right! The only other I can think of is Montale Chocolate Greedy which I always thought was such a weirdo name, lol.
I would buy a perfume called Sloth just for the name.
That’s a really good perfume idea! I think there could be a community project in there somewhere.
Oh, good idea! Something that represents one of them to you.
Yes!
According to Fragrantica, there is 7 Sinful Scents series by Gendarme. One of the scents is Sloth.
Friday here, and it’s a sunny day! In the interests of this weeks theme, I’ll be wearing Thameen’s The Hope.
Does it live up to the diamond?
In the very fruity Boucheron Jaipur, I should have worn it for apricot day.
SOTD is many, many sprays of PdN Vetyyver. Happy Almost Friday Day. ✌?
This nicely shot 3 minute blurb about Grasse made its way to my inbox. Never heard of the last perfumer or brand, but then there’s a lot I don’t know…Anyone familiar with her or her scents?
https://youtu.be/0iHtQDRTn2Y
Yes! Her fragrances are lovely!
Oh, good to know! I will do a bit of research when I have moment. ✌?
She’s the 1000 Flowers brand (of Reglisse Noir fame- cm8’s fave!) Fun little video. We should organize a class trip there!
RN rings a bell in my old brain, but I can’t place it. Is this the scent that has a bit of a licorice twist?
Yep!
That’s the one!
Elisa- can I borrow your excellent memory???
Ha! Honestly, I can’t remember things I really need to remember anymore. Not that Reglisse Noire isn’t important ?
I enjoyed the video, thank you! I have never heard of Jessica Buchanan either.
Deva, Jessica September Buchanan the owner and one woman show of 1000 Flowers (along with Laurie Erickson and Diane St Clair) is one of my all time favorite perfumers. I love everything she has ever made. Reglisse Noire is in my top five perfumes of all time (licorice, mint, cocoa, vetiver…it’s a gourmand with a twist).
Thanks for the link. Very enjoyable to watch.
Another day of L’Attesa – it is reassuringly telling me that the day will go well.
Hope that worked for you!
Wearing Commodity Gold from a sample. It’s a fairly light, unobtrusive woody vanilla similar to Eau Duelle. Nice and easy for the office.
Has anyone watched the newish German tv show adaptation of Perfume on Netflix? My boyfriend and I finished it a couple nights ago, and I liked it very much. It’s very disturbing and explicit as a warning to those sensitive to those things. I’ve also finally started reading the book Perfime: The Story of a Murderer.
I haven’t watched it (but read the book), but it’s in my watch list so glad to hear you enjoyed it!
The ending certainly wasn’t perfect and I have questions, but overall it was a good, worthwhile watch. Good pacing too. It really sucks you in.
I watched the first episode. It’s interesting and I’ll definitely finish it off. Curious how reading the book 1st or after impacts viewing pleasure.
I did watch the movie that was directly based on the book, but it’s been many years.
I think the show did a good job of tying the book to the story while also having an original, modern take on things. I’m really liking the book so far. I love the tone, and it’s so cool to have scent woven in to every aspect of the story.
Yes I watched it with Mr. Marzipan. At first he wasn’t interested but then decided to watch it with me and enjoyed it.
Now watching Tidelanders which I am enjoying immensely and would recommend…..interesting plot.
Thanks, Tidelands looks interesting. We’ll give it a watch at some point. I think we may finally watch the second season of Luke Cage next.
Tidelands is the accurate name.
No precious stone for me. DK Cashmere from a sample my sister gave me. Lovely.
Precious fabric though 😉
I’m in Coco Noir today. I’m running late on my lunch today because I stopped at Marshalls. The clearance prices just keep getting better. Might go back tomorrow since it will be payday.
Ha, I just mentally rearranged my whole commute home to include a Marshall’s.
Sorry, not sorry ?
Oh gosh, Marshall’s is my kryptonite. I am incapable of walking out empty-handed.
They really do have great deals, if you hit the right day. Which, I rarely do.
What are you eyeing for purchase?
Insolence, the noir bulgari, kenzo amour, and la panthere soir. The gurlain is the cheapest at 17 dollars for 1.6 oz.
Adding, I would only get one, if I go back, not all!
Oh, those are all nice choices! The Guerlain is definitely worth it.
That’s an awesome Marshall’s
It just opened about 6 months ago, so maybe they got a better selection?
Not that my Marshall’s would have it, of course — but I’ve wanted Kenzo Amour forever and have kicked myself for not getting it back when the different-sized bottles were in different colors… I hope you get your heart’s true desire tomorrow!
Thanks, yeah.. this Christmas, they had a particularly varied selection, normally it’s the same stuff over and over.
I’ve been kicking myself for that too–I’d love a small bottle!
Best of luck to everyone checking out Marshall’s/TJMaxx clearance. I’ve read that there’s some good finds out there!
I would have liked the orange bottle, but I liked the pink bottle while I had it. Makes a nice sculpture to display.
$17 is quite the bargain! Let us know if you get one!
In DSH Rendezvous which is delicious and IMO the animal-est of her animalics. Grrr.
Sospiro Laylati for me, from a decant. It’s nice, but not great. I think the Sospiro line smells very designer-like and it’s inferior to the original Xerjoff line in my opinion.
I have to agre3 with you. I’ve been underwhelmed.
JPG Classique today. Very sweet. Haven’t worn this in probably 5 yrs. ? Must purge…
I’ve almost bought jpg more times than I can count, I could never decide between edt or edp, lol. Hey stay safe from the snow this weekend!
Thunked a tiny sample of Bottega Veneta pour Homme Extreme, which was a nice leather und spice scent for two hours max. Extreme was just the short time i could smell it…
Got a decant of Under My Skin from francesca bianchi today. Wow, that a cuddly and musky scent with lots of costus! I like it a lot, but just have 6ml of it. Will see how long this will last….
Very surprised it was so short lived, I think even the regular lasts longer on me.
I had a dental appt also, so just a spritz from a decant is OJ Rose Gold Extrait. After, a big spritz of Ligea from a super sweet NSTer, and to top all that off, sprays of Dioressence from the new bottle as well as Gypsy Water body cream. So it’s a very glam afternoon. The little things to make me smile.
Ha,ha,ha…Must. smell like a perfume shop at your house! Glad you are having fun. ?
Oh, you bet!! It’s been so fun!
Ooh, you must smell amazing! How do you like the Byredo body cream? I’ve never tried one.
It’s very thick, and really smells true to Gypsy Water. I just sampled it, but it appears to be very moisturizing. ? tomorrow I’ll use more.
I am in Cabotine Gold today. I like to wear this in warmer weather, but it is lasting really well today and it’s very cold here right now.
I read Luca Turin likes the original Gres Cabotine! Or is it the Caline?
Now I’m not sure!
The centerpiece emerald in that necklace is astonishing!! I swear that it looked as big as a hockey puck around that model’s neck!
SOTD = Quartz pour Femme, by Molyneux, from the sample stash. Going semi-precious today for the CP. I have a couple of scents in mind for tomorrow. I want to wear cozy and warming perfumes now!
The wind makes it seem colder than it is…one of these days we will replace all the windows in my very old house and then I won’t mind as much.
Went to the mall and spritzed on Jo Malone Bronze Wood & Leather and tried the Myrrh & Tonka body cream. The perfume is smokey leather. It’s unisex, but I think I’d prefer to smell it on my husband. The Myrrh & Tonka body cream smells true to the scent & goid. They also have a candle which I liked. I wish they would do an Orris & Sandalwood body cream.
I also smelled the Tiffany scents: sheer, traditional and intense. Sheer was fresh floral, signature was citrusy, intense is powdery iris and my favourite.
I also received a Luckyscent sample pack of four of the Affinessence scents: cedre Iris, vanille Benjoin, Santal Basmati and Cuir Curcumin. They are all pleasant, but the price point is ridiculously high for what they are. More money saved!
OMG I LOVE Santal Basmati, the only Affinessence I’ve tried. I nearly bought it on the spot in Paris last year but as you say, the price is a tad elevated. I’ve been dreaming of a decant of the stuff though. Perhaps I should consider that sample pack–a couple mls to convince me I don’t need it, right? Cuir Curcumin sounds fascinating. I’ve never once smelled leather and thought to myself, You know what this needs? Turmeric.
You made me laugh out loud Koyel. ?
I just did the same ?
🙂
Haha! Maybe turmeric is the new saffron?
🙂 🙂
Beautiful necklace!
SOTD yesterday Chergui!
SOTD = Parfum MDCI Chypre Palatin
Let’s see…Palatin sounds like palace and most palaces contain precious stuff. At least partial credit, no?
Back to work and therefore, back to Commuting Woes. I lost count so I am doing away with numbering them.
To the people with a death wish, I invite you to do the following:
– wear an all black outfit
– commute back to my train station after dark
– while talking on phone to meet up with your illegally parked ride, cross at the intersection where: 1) two lanes of traffic exiting the parking deck make a left AND 2) one lane of traffic exiting the other deck make a right AND 3) one lane of buses and cabs cross the two lanes making a left out of the first deck mentioned above
I’m wearing something tomorrow that will fit the CP if you add an “e” to the name of the perfume. In the words of a Wheel of Fortune contestant “I would like to buy a vowel!”
What is DSH Jacinthe de Sapphir? 😉
Nope. I don’t even have a sample of the DSH. Good guess though!
I thought for sure she had it! Can I buy another clue?
Sure! The perfume name consists of two words, with first being the dominant note of the perfume. Also, the perfumer uses an initial as a last name!
OK… The closest to your clues I can think of is Rania J either Ambre Loup (but it’s not adding “e” but rather moving it) or Cuir Andalou (but to get to “Andalusite” it’ll take several more transformations). So I look forward to reading the correct answer 🙂
One benefit of cataloging my collection is that it makes it easier for me to see what I have. I was thinking that the only perfumes I had with gemstone or precious metal names were Amouage Gold and some Coty Emeraude from ~1980. I was planning to wear Gold tomorrow, but I am not sure I can handle it. I have not been feeling well the past couple of days and Gold is the sort of thing that I have to be feeling good to wear. I was wondering if I could justify Aftelier Alcehmy–after all, one of the goals of alchemy was to turn base metals into precious metals such as gold, so it fits, right? Then I noticed it in my inventory–a small, vintage bottle (from eBay) of Jovan Mink & Pearls. Perfect!
I don’t recall Mink&Pearls.. it sounds fabulous. Is it an eighties release?
Fragrantica and Basenotes both give the year of release as 1968. It is a floral animalic chypre (my favorite kind of chypre).
I hit repeat on my SOTE with Iris Silver Mist; I also added a drop of carrot seed oil on the top of my hands tonight.
Its my Friday and I’m very excited to be getting a haircut tomorrow! It’s sooo overrdue. It took a long time to find my stylist; she totally gets my hair so I will never leave her.
Ah, does the carrot seed oil make it smell more turnip-y?
Yes It does! I just used a drop between both hands. it’s a nice earthy backdrop; not that ISM needs that. Now it’s almost ISM on steroids..
You could even use the oil as a perfume alone; its really strong!
I also added some oil to unscented lotion during the week after a shower before bed; that was great as well.
Thank you, I might have to get some. I usually add frankincense oil to unscented lotion.
LOVE carrot seed oil! You are getting very inventive with how you use it 🙂
I see that we were scent twins yesterday! Love your addition of the carrot oil.
