Happy Almost-Friday! There are 11 days to go for 2018. It's also International Human Solidarity Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Richard E Grant Jack Piccadilly '69.
Reminder: on 12/21 we're doing What's your number...wear a perfume with a number in the name, if you have one. Suggested by thegoddessrena.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

FM Une Rose – gorgeous.
Aye it is!
Love rose and still haven’t tried that one. Will have to fix that!
You smell beautiful. I love that perfume!
It’s my first day of a Christmas break from work (returning in January) – I’ve done some shopping, picked up a present for my dad at the post office and doing some cleaning at home right now. Decorating gingerbread cookies is next in agenda.
Today I’m in Cuir Ottoman by Parfum d’Empire.
Pass me a cookie
Enjoy your well deserved break!
Gingerbread hack: run a bit of dough thru a garlic press to create HAIR for your cookie! 🙂
Enjoy your Christmas break!
You smell great! Enjoy your break ?
Nice!
Oh you smell amazing. Love Cuir Ottoman. And gingerbread cookies. 🙂
Winter Woods.. inspired by the card received from the perfumer.
That’s so nice she sent you a card!
I’ve known her for about seven years now. She is such a beautiful person. I hope whoever takes over her business will be as lovely as her and continue with the tradition of making exquisite fragrances.
I’m wearing a prototype from Smell Bent called 1995. I know he has two fragrances named for years, but whether this is one of them I don’t know.
If it is, I missed it … so far I have seen 1993, 1997 and 1999.
Another day in Vero Profumo – Kiki extrait.
House twin!
It is Thursday isn’t it?
Yes … or “Friday Eve” as one of my coworkers says.
That sounds better! ?
I like this — Friday eve 🙂
Yes! But I was still on only a few sips of tea! Title since corrected 🙂
???
Isn’t this Thursday? I’m already confused …
As was I, apologies!
Vanille Insensee from a travel decant I made for my college girl.
Last night we watched the classic Footloose together and had a dorm sleepover. Today we will make our way back home through the dreary drizzle.
Lovely.
Safe travels home.
Thanks cm8!
Enjoy your trip back together! Sounds like a nice start last night….
Thanks Jada! I love hanging out with her.☺️
That sounds fun! Haven’t seen Footloose since I saw it in the theater. How does it hold up?
It really was!
It’s been forever since I’d seen Footloose too. It’s definitely one of those classic ‘80’s movies, right down to the soundtrack, lol. It has a solid cast though and a feel good ending, so all in all, I’d say it’s an okay watch if you’re just looking to be entertained. I’ve seen the trailer of the remake and I have no desire to see it. I’m old school.?
Love watching “retro” movies with my son! Sounds like a great evening. Be safe on your travels back.
Me too! My daughter is a huge fan of ‘80’s music and movies, so she’s always up for watching one with me. She “may” have been influenced during her formative years.?
That sounds great. I hope you had a safe and smooth drive home.
Thanks sistine! Back home safe and sound now.?
Well, I had every intention of wearing Chanel 19 today and 24 Faubourg tomorrow, but when I went to the perfume shelf the bottle of Ormonde Woman leapt in front of the other bottles, threw off her cap (all by herself!), squared her shoulders, and plaintively (yet authoritatively) commanded, “Pick me! Pick me!” So I did.
What can you do?
I was going to wear Guerlain Cologne 68 today but was not in the mood.
You had no other choice but to wear her! You smell awesome.
You can’t argue with that kind of persuasion.
Still stuffed up!
Feeling sick is perfect timing for the kids to be out of school, now I get no break (insert sarcasm)
No SOTD but drinking chai tea my Indian neighbor made for me this morning
Yuck. Hope you feel better and the kids make it easier for you (one can dream). Nice neighbor! I need one like that.
UGH. I will dream along with ElisaP, maybe the kids will straighten up the house and bring you all your meals?
Time for movies under a blanket fort! FEEL BETTER! 🙂
Oh, maybe a blanket fort is the answer to surviving another winter in my poorly insulated apartment!
Lucky for me, the kids decided they would nap today. Off to to get some zzzz myself. Thanks everyone for your kind get well wishes
Boo for being sick but yay for a good neighbor. I had a family of Indian neighbors once and we adored them. Their kids/grandkids played with my son and the grandmother always sent over soups and breads and such with the kids for me. She was amazing!
I hope you feel better soon!
The only scent I have with a number in it is 4711, so I’m saving that for tomorrow and wearing one with a punctuation mark instead: vintage A*Men. Never thought I’d say it but it feels dated: it was so modern and original when it came out, but two decades on, with many flankers and many imitators, it no longer holds any interest (for me, anyway).
Do you like any of the new fkankers? I was tempted to get Kryptomint at Marshall’s but I coukdn’t get past the color of the bottle.
In the last drops of L’Artisan Mon Numero 10. Incense, spices, leather. Calming scent for another stressful day at work. Ready for the in office holiday party. No complaints about so much distraction around. At least the week is almost over…..
Thunk ?
Enjoy your party ???
?
Thank you for the description of No 10, I’m sure you smell great, now I’m curious to try it. Will you get more?
I’m also curious now. Sounds like something I’d like a lot.
A full bottle is already on my too long “to buy” list. I like it a lot, but I don’t plan to get it any time soon. It is worth trying for sure and the price at the discounters are really good!
STay strong, pls67!!!!
I will! ?
That’s so funny – your description sounds amazing, but on my skin it smelled like Coca Cola. Fancy Coca Cola, but still…
I hope you had fun at your party.
Oh my! I am grateful I do not smell Coca Cola! ?. I get mostly incense and cinnamon. Our skins are so different…
Good morning Y’all…..
WOW! Today is a rainy/gray/messy/mucky/muddy/YUCKY day in my corner of the universe. I guess I’m glad it’s not snow and ice! 🙂
Wearing The 7 Virtues Vetiver Elemi….LOVING it! This is a new “clean” brand from Canada, exclusive to Sephora I think? Anyhoo, this is a beautifully blended fragrance. The elemi is just gorgeous, and the vetiver is a great balance. I will totally be sampling the other perfumes in this line ASAP….
Stay warm and cozy y’all….
Does elemi smell similar to frankincense?
Yes, on my skin it’s pretty similar….maybe not quite as “heavy”? It’s a lighter, sweeter frankincensy spice!
Maybe in early 2019 I’ll treat myself to the 7 Virtues sample set. It’s quite affordable. Is Vetiver Elemi the first you’ve tried from them?
This is the 1st….total blind buy! The risk totally paid off this time! 🙂
Chanel No. 18, from a small sample that I am going through very quickly.
You smell perfect!
You smell great.
Ooh, that one’s a beaut! You smell great.
Silences EdT. Cool and green and surprisingly strong. Makes me want to stand up straighter.
Love Silences, you smell very green, yes it is strong on my skin too and lasts a long time.
Oh! I like the “makes me stand up straighter”. That is exactly what I need on rough days! I need to give Silences a try very soon!
To me. Silences is the greener version of No.19 so I am not surprised by your spine being straighter!
Sampling Olympic Orchids Sonnet XVII which started a little animalic and is now going towards osmanthus. Went down to NY to see the windows with a friend of mine and of course had to do some sampling. I am definitely planning on getting Sexual Healing from Art Meets Art.
I love Sonnet XVII so I think you smell great!
Keeping with my aldehyde theme from yesterday in Chanel no 22 today.
I was pretty shaken last night witnessing a pedestrian get hit by a car. She was crossing and he was turning right. Fortunately she’s ok, but her foot was pinned under his SUV tire. Someone said they saw him texting while waiting for the light to turn and cars had to honk at him to go when the light turned green. She was feeling bad because she said she was looking at her phone and wasn’t paying attention when she crossed. Ugh. Can people pull their faces out of their phones for a minute? Suddenly everything is so urgent! Things that could wait (and had to) 20 years ago can’t now. How did we survive when we had to leave a message on someone’s home phone and had to wait til they got home to listen to their answering machine?! A good reminder for myself, also, when I’m feeling sucked in to this urgency.
Be safe and alert out there!
Scary!! So glad everyone was okay. I’ve walked to work daily for several years and have witnessed some near-misses myself. Totally sharing in your frustration with everybody lost in their phones (and reminding myself to resist the temptation too!)
I have to remind myself that I don’t want to do the thing that annoys when others do it, when I feel the compulsive urge to look at my phone while I’m walking, commuting etc.
Yikes, that is scary!
I work at a University, 90% of the time students are looking downward at their phones. It’s too bad, we have a beautiful campus, with tons of wildlife (coyotes, hawks, owls, foxes and hummingbirds). They are missing out on the beauty around them for a few seconds of screen time.
SmokeyToes, I also think of the personal safety factor. If your nose is in your phone, you’re not aware of your surroundings, including potential criminals. Keep your head on a swivel, kids.
True – I saw a student narrowly miss getting squashed by a firetruck (lights and sirens were going) and they didn’t notice a thing.
I yanked the kid out of harm’s way and got a dirty look until she saw the truck go blazing by.
*sigh*
They can just look at photos and videos of wildlife ?
So scary. Glad it seems she’s okay.
Love Chanel No. 22. I remember being drawn to that more than No. 5 when I was first dipping scents. But it lost out to No. 19, which captured my heart….
No 5 captured me 1st and 22 took me longer to appreciate. I keep trying with 19 but it still hasn’t quite taken with me, yet.
Wow, I’m sorry that happened; seeing something like that would rattle anyone. The gal was lucky you were there to help her!
I distinctly remember when answering machines came out. I called a friend, and when the machine picked up, I HUNG up. I was hacked! It seemed so impersonal at the time. Needless to say, I’ve loosened up a lot since then. ?
Ha! Little did you know what was to come. I have an android and the 1st time someone with an iPhone “liked” one of my texts instead of actually responding, I thought it was a joke, like they were riffing on a FB post-didn’t know you could “like” etc texts on your iPhone.
My son has to walk a few blocks to catch the bus, and I’m always telling him to not be on his phone. He says he isn’t, but I don’t believe him. Very scary.
Hard to control what they do out of your sight. Frequent reminders, I guess.
Scary!
And you smell lovely – No. 22 is such a beautiful scent.
Thank you! It is!
OH my!
Many years ago I was hit my a car in San Francisco. Pre-texting every second.
I was lucky, and broke nothing but the person hit me so hard my shoes and socks came off my feet. It was my youth that saved me. Then, according to the people passing by, the car went into on coming traffic to get away from 2 guys that were running after the car on my behalf. No one got a license plate number so I was responsible for all my hospital visits. I wonder if that person is living with guilt or not. Oh well..this is the world we live in now…
Holy hell that’s a scary story! You are fortunate to be here today!
So, so scary and so upsetting, especially with a hit n run and taking no responsibility. So angering!
The driver here at least stopped and got out and was very apologetic and remorseful and in shock himself. He was actually tearful and kept hugging her and offered to drive her to a hospital, but she declined. I did snap a pic of his plates and texted it to her and told her to take the guy’s info even if she didn’t think she was hurt. I figured she might just be numb from the shock and might notice some injury the next day.
Ditto this! People place more importance on Facebook etc., than the lives of the living around them. So ridiculous and sad, especially when someone is injured or killed. It’s very traumatizing be a witness violence, whether the action was planned or accidental. Glad she wasn’t killed.
I think it’s so compulsive/addictive, people just aren’t thinking at all. Or they think “that just happens to other people. I’m in total control!”
It was a weird, slo-mo moment since I was crossing towards her and saw the actual impact. Coulda been a lot worse…
Yes it is. I saw a pedestrian get hit by an eager left turner at an intersection by the art museum in Houston, and what was most chilling was this loud “thwacking “ sound I heard. It was horrible.
So scary and such a good reminder. Also, I love No. 22, you smell wonderful.
Thanks! I always tell myself I should wear it more often…
Wow, that’s horrifying. I’m so glad she was OK, and that the driver was an actual human being.
I saw a student fall down half a flight of stairs because they were texting as they walked. Yikes.
I was telling a friend the story, especially about the driver’s response, and he said ” Umm, that should ALWAYS be the response.” I guess the fact that we expect much less is sad in itself.
Yikes is right! We were walking around the Greenwood Cemetery a few years ago and my husband took a pic of a headstone with the last name “TEXTER” across it. He made a FB post about this being a public shaming for someone who died related to texting. It was funny, but not when it actually happens.
I see students on bicycles texting!
So sorry you had to witness that! Did you have to do a Good Samaritan deed?
That is so awful. I am hyper-vigilant when I am on foot, no phone, no earphones, nothing to distract me. But that’s only half the battle, the driver has to be vigilant too. I have nearly been hit by inattentive drivers. I’m glad the woman you saw survived and the driver responded appropriately.
SOTD: Amika 001 hair fragrance. Also layered on some sandalwood body spray and the combo is really working for me.
Is that one creamsicle-y?
I don’t think so, but I can see how someone else might. I find this one really hard to pick apart and describe for some reason.
Thanks holyneroli!
Le Labo Lys 41 for splash of summer in a dark rainy day.
You smell gorgeous!
What a perfect way to fight the rain! I love Lys 41.
I’m in ELDO I Am Trash, from a Luckyscent sample. It’s a soft, plushy fruity floral, easy to wear, but nothing out of the ordinary so far.
Exactly what I expected!
I tried it recently and was hoping for at list a little garbage, lol.
Yeah, I resprayed later in the day, still no garbage. ?
Wearing delicious Five O’Clock Au Gingembre (Serge Lutens).
Oh yes, it really is delicious, you smell of the season.
SOTD is Molyneux Numeto Cinq. Rich, warm, Oriental yumminess. It turns out that I do have a few more “number” perfumes than I thought. In addition to this one and the Chanels, I have Lush 25:43 and 1000 Kisses, Jubilation 25, and Yves Rocher En Avril Un Soir (a lovely chypre).
Oh, I have this No 5 too, it’s lovely, you smell great and I love En Avril un Soir, it’s underrated imo, on my skin it becomes very irissy too which I love.
SOTD is vintage Opium extrait by YSL. Happy almost Friyay folks!
Oh, mercy but you smell wonderful.
Thanks! This stuff is SO potent! Just a dab will do ya…. 😉
Arquiste No. 57 for J. Crew. I don’t wear this often enough, since I do like boozy scents. Bought this in massive discount when it was being discontinued. Bottle broke when the top separated from the bottom. Luckily it landed on my bed with minimal spillage. I decanted to much smaller sizes.
What always amuses me about this scent and its pair No. 31 is that the M57 and M31 buses are the ones that run crosstown on 57th St in Manhattan, both of which I take frequently. Such a weird coincidence….
Hehe that is a cute coincidence.
You smell great! I’m planning on wearing that one tomorrow! 🙂
Oh that is an interesting coincidence! If I were to apply that to my daily bus commute I’d be wearing CHANEL #5… not me at all! The only one in my collection is Cristalle 🙂
What a coincidence!
Your post also reminded me that I have another numbered fragrance – M7!
I don’t have many numbered scents, but will participate tommorow. Today is Pomegranate Noir. Gearing up for all the last minute Christmas shoppers, it’s already very busy.
Good luck with these next few days, lillyjo! I’ve worked in retail (wine sales) and the holiday season can be exciting, but it is exhausting.
Good Luck!
love Pom Noire..you smell great….good luck with the last minute shoppers!!!
Hang in there, Lilijo and you smell beautiful.
You smell good! Hang in there!
I’ll be one of the last minute shoppers! ?
I think you were last year too!?
Thanks everyone!
Having tummy issues and probably a mouth infection going on but don’t have the time nor the cash to go to the dentist. So it’s hello Excedrin to deal with the pain. On day three of wearing Chanel no 5 and I am bored with it. I made a commitment to wear the bottle of edt for the week to see if I can finish the bottle before the new year. I am planning to help my dad on Sunday to get my mom a gift for Christmas. Hopefully, he won’t putter around the yard all day and then decide around 3 to go and get it.
Ouch! I hope you feel better, tooth pain is no joke! When I was a poor broke student, I made use of a dental school nearby for cheaper dental care, it worked in a pinch.
In the meantime, feel better!
So sorry about the pain you’re dealing with. I think you are totally allowed to break your commitment to yourself of wearing No 5 all week so you cam be happier in something you’re not bored of.
If there is an option for cheaper care, do consider it, as tooth/mouth infections can become nasty in the long run. Hope you will feel better in time to enjoy Xmas.
Ouch. I hope the pain goes away very quickly.
Right there with you Dawn, only it’s ibuprofen for me. I’m thinking I might just have them pull it, but even then it’s hard to get pmt arrangements. I think it’s really great of you to help your dad with the Christmas shopping. Good luck, that he gets going early!
Still doing Oriza’s. Wearing Royal œillet today. It’s nice but not as nice as some others in their line up.
I’ve got the beginnings of a flu so I’m feeling rather crap and terribly sorry for myself. 😉
Feel better!
You are definitely allowed to feel sorry for yourself when you’re sick!
Have you compared the Oriza carnation perfumes to each other? I can’t quite keep straight which you’ve worn recently and which Jalapeno has. Of Royal Oeillet and Oeillet Louis XV, I’ve only tried Royal Oeillet and liked it.
I prefer the Œillet Louis XV, it’s more like mulled wine and feels more balanced. I may wear it tomorrow (to keep to the CP!)
Mmm that sounds really nice. I’ll ask for a sample with my next Luckyscent order.
Or Twisted Lily with the 20% off coupon!
Feeling like crap twins!
Sorry about the flu coming on and hoping you will be better in time for Xmas. I have been inspired by you to use my OL sampler in the new year.
So sorry you don’t feel well.
Uck. Feel better, and pamper yourself!
Hope you and Lovestosmellgood feel better soon!
I chose Tea for Two today and wearing it reminds me how freaking good it is. I probably haven’t worn it for the last year – why not? So many perfumes that it’s hard to find time to wear them all. It kinda makes me think twice on wearing or simply using up my “just ok” stuff. I think I should be a little more discerning about wearing what I love.
I’m also working really hard lately at maintaining some kind of positivity in life. I tend to be a realist (what some may call a pessimist), but I’ll amp up the optimism if others around me need it or are being overly negative. My boyfriend has not stopped facing health challenges since late Oct and is in general already quite pessimistic. One reason we work so well is our similar outlook on life. I’m having to expend more energy to force myself into more positivity around him than usual. It’s really wearing on me. Thank goodness for some upcoming holiday days off work. Thanks for listening NST.
You smell good, rabbitsflower!
Thank you!
Tea for Two is so interesting. I tried it out once and didn’t immediately like it, but there was just something about it that kept my nose glued to my wrist the whole time.
My bf and I feed off of each other’s moods in a big way, only I’m usually the optimist and he’s usually the pessimist. Striking a balance can be a real challenge sometimes.
I hope you can find some time to take care of yourself and recharge over the holidays!
Tea for Two is kind of a strange one. It does make me keep sniffing.
And I definitely need to work a little harder at taking care of myself.
Striking that balance is tough when facing health issues. They can be very trying and wearing. Hoping for a better 2019!!
Thanks, LizzieB!
Wishing you a great holiday season to make up for the trying times.
Thank you, Aurora!
Solidarity in Tea for Two!
Yum, we both smell great!
I’m a realist, too. I think there is a lot of unnecessary stress that goes along with “seeing the bright side” of everything. Sometimes things are just unfair and painful. I think we do a disservice to ourselves and others by not honestly giving voice to these emotions. Not saying anyone should wallow in pessimism, but life is a complex balance of both good and bad. It’s hard enough trying to get through tough situations without the added burden of trying to maintain “positivity” all the time. I’m sorry you’re feeling down. There is some very difficult things to wade through out there. Wish I could lend you a helping hand.
Oh, thank you. I think we probably operate on a similar plane. And you know, I’m not necessarily feeling down I guess, mostly exhausted. There’s a lot going on at work right now too so that’s not necessarily jerking l helping, though I do like my job. I think I need to work on finding a stress relieving outlet or just have a fun thing to look forward to.
I very much agree with you. It’s bad enough going through hard times without having to plaster on a happy face as well.
I hope you are able to find some kind of balance and not spend too much energy forcing yourself into a role that isn’t really you. I’m sure your boyfriend really appreciates your support. Make sure you take care of yourself as well, as much as you can.
The boyfriend has been particularly sweet to me lately, so that really helps. You’re right that I need to take care of myself too. I think this will be a great weekend for taking a relaxing, hot bath. I did order myself a cute new shirt a couple days ago after a particularly rough morning. So I can’t wait for that to arrive!
Pessimism and realism aren’t really the same thing. Pessimism is believing and expecting the worst, not trusting etc. Realism is accepting things as they actually are. Like Deva said, there is both good and bad happening all the time (humans have an ingrained/primitive negativity bias which serves as a survival mechanism so we actually have to make an effort to notice the good, moments of care etc.) And agree, being positive doesn’t mean not being angry or sad or frustrated. Anyway, I also think being authentic is always the way to go, while not getting sucked into a black hole of self-defeating habits or clinging too long to negative emotions. I do hope things smooth out for you and your boyfriend and you can enjoy some respite over the holidays!
That’s a good point on realists vs. pessimists. I guess I’m just myself, so not super easy to label. I think my optimism hasn’t been anything over the top, just mostly trying to look past the hard stuff a bit and not to wallow or dwell. I’m trying to let go of stress more consciously.
So sorry that you have to make up for the pessimism. I hope the BF’s health issues alleviate; staying positive is supposed to help in the healing process.
The guy who sits next to me in the office is the worst pessimist ever and probably clinically depressed although this is definitely not a diagnosis since I am not qualified to make that assessment. He hates being at home (he is single and lives alone) but he also hates his job; however, shlepping in to a job that he hates is better than staying home. He’s the only person I know whose manager made him take mandatory vacation just about every other Monday. He counts out change and gets lunch everyday at 1:30PM. He switches between soup and pizza every other day and never spends more than $4. He has a morning snack everyday at 10AM and switches between a yogurt + 10 almonds and bread with peanut butter. He reuses the sandwich bag for months (and now I make him throw it out just about every 2 weeks if I remember but I suspect he fishes the one he discarded when I’m not looking). He looks forward to being the only one in the office on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Everyday, he makes a comment that he thinks he will lose his job. If I’m not an optimistic / happy person, I would be depressed right along with him!
It does sound like he may have some form of depression. Living sounds like a challenge for him.
And I’m really ok. It felt good to talk about it earlier. I’m working to lighten up in some ways and take things as they come.
My office Christmas luncheon is today so I’m taking a break from the cp to wear Chergui. I always seem to gravitate to it this time of year.
Love Chergui, but unlike you I prefer wearing it in summer!
Oh wow! I’m just the opposite. I get cumin from Chergui during summer and I dislike it.
Smellin’ good!
I was so sorry to hear about Vero Kern yesterday. It seemed serendipitous that I had chosen Naja as SOTD, and then 5 minutes later, learn she had passed away.
So I decided to stick with Naja again today in her honor.
RIP Penny Marshall and Vero Kern- Two women that did exactly what they wanted, and did it exceedingly well.
Gosh, I will be extremely happy if that final sentence sums up my life at its end.
The final sentence to sum up my life will be: “She really needed help with her grammar and punctuation skills.” ?
When I saw your sotd yesterday, I knew you didn’t know, and it felt like a litte magic, because I know you love Naja. Btw… I looked at your pictures, they are wonderful, I almost had the urge to go somewhere while looking, lol????
Yes, I thought it strange and beautiful! I rarely wear it because I cherish (hoarding!) the decant sent to me by a lovely NSTer. I’m drawing it out as long as I can! But my hand not only went right for it, I had to dig it out of the little zippered pouch I keep my smaller sized scents in…
Sorry, forgot to add thank you for the Instagram comments! I love doing it and I’m so happy you and few others enjoy it!
Elie Saab Essence No 3 Ambre. A nice plush amber vanilla scent. Topped up in the afternoon with Fils de Dieu.
Will be happy when its tomorrow evening, feeling tired…
I am feeling worn out too tannina…here’s looking forward to Friday night!
Today I am wearing Frapin 1270 and I think it has a nice holiday season kind of smell.
I thought I had “thunked” it, but found a sample of Loewe 001 Woman and used the last couple of sprays and officially thunked it. I really enjoyed this one, but not enough for FB.
I made four batches of cookies last night! I love holiday baking so much! I made Red Velvet “Santa” cookies, Anginetti, Snickerdoodles, and Chewy Chocolate Espresso cookies! I told myself I was going to be good and save them all for gifts at the office, but I just HAD to try one of each hot out of the oven for quality assurance and all…. 😉
OMG!!! I am coming to your house…cookies!!!!!! They sound delicious!
Your Instagram picture had me drooling ?
I would love to be one of your colleagues tomorrow, it’s an impressive line-up, glad you sampled them, that was absolutely necessary 🙂
Wow, you are one amazing coworker!
In all honesty I love to bake but if I ate everything I baked at the holidays it would not be good! ? so I give stuff away to get it out of the house and spread the cookie cheer haha
ahh, the things we do in the name of quality control!
Those sound delicious! Wouldn’t a NST Cookie recipe swap be fun?
PSA- Vitacost 20 percent off of beauty products with code BEAUTYSW….
and I am obsessed with this-
https://www.vitacost.com/nubian-heritage-shea-butter-infused-with-frankincense-and-myrrh-4-oz
it’s the only thing that works on my really really really dry skin in the winter and the smell is absolutely amazing! I already thunked one container and just opened a new one to make a travel pot for a good friend of mine…it’s not like regular lotion and can feel a bit tacky but it really works and it really smells good…I would love to have an EDT that smells like this. The bar soap is equally as lovely..it was the smell of the bar soap that sent me down the Nubian Heritage rabbit hole…history of the company is interesting too….
Wow thanks for the link and the recommendation! The NM desert winters are brutally dry so I’m always looking for good moisturizers.
24 Faubourg for me today, and it’s the last day of work for two weeks – yay! This year has passed so quickly that I feel as if I’ve missed 6 months of my life, but now that we’ve reached the end of the year, I’m more than ready for a break.
Enjoy your time off and 24 Faubourg strikes me as festive.
Enjoy your break. And you smell great in 24F!
Like many of you I am celebrating having a few days off.
Robin, enjoying the Eros, symbol of London and its Evening Standard (well, and thank you, I learn something today as it turns out it’s not Eros at all).
In Liz Earle No 1 which has a lovely all kinds of citrus and a great vetiver note.
I learned it today too…I did not know there was a god of requited love, much less a whole collective of winged love gods.
I’m wearing Musc Tonkin today, from a lovely NST’er in last fall’s swap. For my friend’s husband who only wears Aramis (and she is very tired of it) I decided to give all the Frederic Malle samples the really generous SA gave me when I was at Harrod’s Salon de Parfum. I’m hoping he likes one or more. Musc Ravageur is the one I’m rooting for, I’d like to smell it on someone other than me.
For your friend’s sake, hope he finds a new favorite — and that was very kind of you!
Hope all of you who are feeling under the weather will improve soon!
In Diptyque’s 34 st. Germain – from a sample, but I really like it.
I need to add a little holiday rant: Maybe a couple of you remember my search for a scent for my younger dd as a stocking stuffer – I finally placed the order for scents for her, older dd and dh last Friday, so almost a week ago, on Fragrancenet. Yesterday I thought I’d check on the shipping status and the scheduled delivery is on 12/27!! I emailed them to complain and got a very flippant “we don’t guarantee standard delivery” response. There was no warning on the site that orders placed 11 days before the holidays might not make it (I would have paid for an upgrade had there been such a warning). I called them as well – same completely unhelpful response.
Grumble.
Having said this, I’m moving on with my cup of tea in hand. Happy almost Friday!
Sometimes things show up before the actual delivery date? That happens when I order from Ebay a lit if the time. Did it not even leave the warehouse yet? Hope they get to you before the holiday, but I’m sure belated gifts won’t be turned down!
Curious what you ended up getting for the young ones!
I’ve been tracking a little obsessively – it’s in Colorado, I’m in California, so looks unlikely…I got Moschino Funny for 11 year old dd, CK Truth for 13 year old, and l’instant pour homme for husband. Some of the NST recs were far more exciting, but a tad more pricey (for the kids), and I was really just looking for stocking stuffer type, fun fragrances where the bottle looks cute, too (for 11 year old).
I hope you get it in time, but if not, I think it will still be fun for them to get an extra gift during the long school break.
Fragrancenet is notoriously slow. It takes up to two weeks to get to San Diego.
Krigler lovely patchouli 55. Have had this bottle for 2 years now. I don’t wear it often, and enjoy when I do.
Freebie alert: how about a full bottle of Rose All Dae ?, sprayed a couple of times, to a frequent commenter on NST. I’ll just send the bottle and not the presentation box, since it’ll be less $$ to ship. US only please, due to mailing restrictions on perfumes. More than likely it will go ground. No guarantees it’ll be delivered ?, although I’ve had pretty good luck with packages arriving to their destination, and I’ll provide tracking once I mail. No need to offer anything in return, just happy to send this to someone. Please dibs here, first one gets it. After calling dibs, I’ll reply here with my email address, and then we will take it from there.
Flopper, you’re like Santa Claus! So sweet of you! No dibs for me, but just wanted to comment because it’s such a thoughtful and generous thing to do. ✌?
Aww thank you Deva. ?
Is it ok if I place dibs?
Yes! I’ll email you.
Just curious what you think of it?
At first I liked it, still do, but it’s very boozy, stewed plum, fruity, and it just didn’t work for me. I didn’t detect any brown sugar. I tried it several times, at night and then during the day. The bottle and presentation are really nice. I’d love to smell it on someone else to see if there’s a difference.
I’m wearing 60 Mirabilis by L’Artisan. Woohoo, I smell purdy. Thanks so much to Koyel for hosting the split!
One more school day before my winter break. Can you believe that 9th grade students are not super focused and well behaved the week before school? How shocking! I really cannot wait for some peace and a chance to regroup.
Hugs and positive energy to everyone on this cold, dark, rainy winter day.
Ha! Your comment about the students made me LOL. I hope you (and they) have a good restful break!
Oh you DO smell heavenly.
I participated in that split as well and really like this one. So glad to see it mentioned. Do we know the nose behind this perfume?
Picking back up with the CP today.
SOTD = Czech & Speake No. 88 Cologne, from the sample stash. From my testing notes, I know it is a dark spicy rose with a hint of incense. According to my nose, today I smell nothing! Really weird!
Nothing at all? That really is weird! Are you smelling other things, like food & whatnot?
A late arrival but I wanted to share an instant love lemming item. It’s Meyers lemon verbena multi surface cleaner. It smells exactly like Chanel 19. Not the reform but the oak moss encrusted vintage.
Robin, could that be a cp? Wear a run of the mill soap or cleaning product that smells like a really expensive perfume… Or wear an expensive perfume that smells like a cleaning product?
I think that cp would generate some hilarious comments.
Must sniff at Target next time I’m there!
I love that stuff!!! Agree it’s fab!
Taking notes!
My SOTD was Jacomo #8. Spicy with cinnamon, very nice for this time of the year.
Ooh nice choice. I forget about this one.
Wearing alot if Chanel No. 5 oil. Made it home last night at midnight and back to work for 7 am. Just got groceries and now plunked myself on the couch.
All Toblerone fans, here is the shortbread cookie recipe as promised!
2 cups butter, softened
1 cup sugar (superfine if you have it)
3 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 bars (100 gram) Toblerone Milk Chocolate bar, chopped in small chunks.
3 Tbsp sifted icing sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on high until light and fluffy. Combine flour and cornstarch. Gradually add to butter mixture, beating until well blended. Stir in chocolate chunk pieces. (I usually refrigerate for 15 minutes to let it set up a bit).
Spread by heaping tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 20-25 minutes until lightly browned. Cool 10 minutes on baking sheet and sprinkle with icing sugar. Remive to wire racks to cool completely. Should make 48 cookies, but I usually get way less.
Enjoy!
I can’t believe you had to be to work so soon and so early! Glad you are home safe ?
Thanks lillyjo! My start time is 7 am; ugh! At least i just went thru emails and did nothing too taxing yet. Tomorrow will be quiet as many people are off for the holidays now so I can putter along and get back into the groove. Its payback for me though as i now have stuff to do for them next week.
I kinda felt bad about being gone for so long. My coworkers did a great job for me. And my supervisor even did some annoying things that I was able to avoid, as its our year end and audit too boot.
Very late to the party!
SOTD = Chanel 31 Rue Cambon
I smell very put together! We had our function’s holiday party this evening. There was good turn out and I tried to mingle as much as I can. The passed hors d’oeuvre was just meh so as soon as I got home, I had dinner!
You smell elegant! Wanted to ask how you liked the dryer balls. Any opinion?
I use them, they help but often get caught in the sheets so I just bought a 2nd pair. I tried them with out fabric softener and They REALLY made a difference.
I couldn’t tell the clothes any difference in texture or static electricity from ones dried w/dryer sheets.
Thanks for the info, AngelaB!
😉 My pleadure!
Geez I really should stop using my iphone because all my typos happen on this teeeeeeny keyboard
Well…Cooking and cleaning all day kept me in commando mode.
We headed for an office party but the trip was 2+ hours
We bailed…and I smelled great in Chanel No22!
I hope i can find my Ambre114 for tomorrow! Nite!
