It's Hump Day, Repeal Day and World Soil Day. Birthday wishes to Calvin Trillin and Joan Didion. What fragrance are you wearing?
In honor of Repeal Day, I thought I would spend another day in Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Urban Moonshine.
Reminder: on 12/7, pick your poison BWF...wear a perfume with tuberose, gardenia or both.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: Ole Smoky is "the leading distiller of premium moonshine in the U.S. and the first federally licensed distillery in the history of East Tennessee", and you can find them in Gatlinburg.
I got my FB of my frangipani bermuda perfume so I am in a big white floral today
I am trying out a new primer (well new to me) from the Ordinary brand, so far so good.
Tea is a latte made at home…
Is it still possible to buy Ordinary products?! I thought the company was in hiatus or something.
The CEO and founder had a bit of a social media episode. He has been removed, and the company is back up and running normally
Good to know – I have been wanting to try their products for awhile
Yasmina, if you are in US, I ordered The Ordinary lactic acid 10% +HA and received yesterday. I had a bottle of this easier this summer just didn’t realize ha. If you’d like it pls email me. Beas dott Beverly att gmail dottt com
Flopper that is awfully kind of you! I am currently nursing so will decline but really very nice of you to offer. I looked up the product and I am excited to eventually try it since it targets both “static and dynamic wrinkles” – I probably have loads of both.
Yasmina you’re welcome. ?
I think it’s still possible to purchase The Ordinary products, as much of a skin care junkie that I am, it’s amazing I haven’t tried the line yet. 🙂
I placed an order with them during the post-Thanksgiving sale, so they are indeed open for business. Shipping seems a little slow, though.
Yes I just got my order today from that sale! Slow shipping…
Yes you can still buy them in the stores and online.
Their serum foundation is excellent, the serums/oils, and if you have red sensitive skin they have a booster/serum that is my holy grail.
I’m looking for a new foundation- will check it out
yes, do try the serum foundation. For a serum its highly pigmented.
They are also come out with a new foundation soon if you want to wait
Which serum is your holy grail–I, too, have sensitive skin that tends toward red!
I have been using the Hylamide Sensitive booster
Just a few drops covers my whole face. Its very calming and doesn’t irritate.
It’s like you are a week early, Robin. 🙂
My scent of the morning is Le Labo Lys 41. This is a lovely white floral perfume. It begins with a burst of tuberose and jasmine, while a vanillic lily joins later. I agree with Robin that this is a bright and sunny tuberose, unlike tropical and ripe Fracas. Longevity is around 4 hours, which is fine for me, but I am troubled by the fact that all the reviews I read describe it as a big scent, while on me it stays close to the skin. Maybe I got a fake? 🙁
About 7 hours after applying Lys 41 (it was long gone by that time), I sprayed Tom Ford Shanghai Lily. It is big and white floral, but clove definitely dominates. Tuberose is listed, but I cannot smell it – it is a a very spicy white floral bouquet on me. Great for winter – I cannot imagine wearing it in the warm weather.
My cat had a stressful night. Last night I went to bed early and when I got up at 7.30, I found that my mom accidentally locked her (the cat) out in the balcony. The balcony is glazed, there is a padded chair and a box, and it was a warm night for December, but the temperature was still a bit below the freezing point during the night. The cat gave me a series of short and very expressive meows when I let her out. I am pretty sure it was a complaint about having spent hours in the balcony. Both mom and I were very sorry. Don’t worry though – the kitty is fine and was immediately up to her usual antics.
Poor popsicle kitty. Glad she did not suffer any ill effects.
Poor cold kitty! Glad she is okay.
Oh, dear! Poor kitty, but glad she’s not holding a grudge. I’ve accidentally locked one of my cats in closets and cupboards. He knows how to open them from the outside, but not from the inside, apparently.
No, one of her great qualities is that she does not hold grudges. She often gets stuck inside one of the closets, too. She loves napping there but cannot get outside on her own so she meows or scratches loudly demanding to be let out.
Oh no! I’m glad the cat is OK. She’ll probably want extra warmth, so you may be able to get some extra snuggles.
Funny, but she seemed to be more annoyed about not being able to go to other places than about cold. She purred when I petted her, but then quickly shifted her attention to bird-watching. 🙂
I know those meows well, cats are very forgiving if I judge by mine.
Oh poor kitty!
Seems more likely there is something in the formula giving you olfactory fatigue. It’s a possibility, anyway.
Wowzers, glad she has a thick coat! ?
Poor kitty! Glad she is ok!
Poor kitty cat, I’m glad she’s ok! SmokeyToes would give me endless cattitude for sure!
Aw, poor kitty! Glad to hear that she is OK after her misadventure.
Awwwww. Glad the kitty is ok!
I’m wearing Donna Karan Gold, which is a big white lily.
Love this one – you smell great!
2nd that!
Love Donna Karan Gold! You smell wonderful!
I’m home alone today and so wanted to take the opportunity to enjoy something bombastic; therefore I am wearing Black Orchid. I keep sneezing! ?
I think you smell great!
I just got a sample of this one in a beauty box yesterday – I haven’t worn it before so I will spritz lightly when I try it!
I am sure you smell wonderful 🙂 ! I don’t think Black Orchid was a good match for me though, when I tried it last week.
When I went to bed last night, the weather guy said to expect a few flurries. I wake up with my car covered in snow. ❄⛄sotd is Alien essence absolue. After 4 years, I think, I finally thunked the matching body balm. ?
Sorry about the snow lillyjo. As I get older, I dread snow more and more…
Congrats on thunking..
I detest snow. so. much.
Being from Alabama, I get super excited about snow, but I can imagine it getting old fast if you get it a lot.
I grew up in a dry desert climate so I was excited at first too – now, nah.
A few flurries? Ha!
Sorry about the snow – I know you hate it.
Thanks, I know I’m a broken record. I appreciate being able to vent here?
We are just now getting a few flurries. Hope it is not going to stick.
Yay on that thunking!
Snow twins! Although I think I got the flurries that you were supposed to get. At least it isn’t yet another day of rain for me! ❄☃
House Twins Robin !!
I’m in DSH Caravan Spice. Amber and cinnamon.
Those notes sound like it make a nice tea
Hey twin!
Spent the morning in vintage Bal filling my Amazon cart with gifts. Check out will wait until I get paid. I am going to work a little later than normal but picked Chanel no 5 for the rest of the day. But should I wear the edt, edp, extrait or Eau Premier? Such hard choices.
Eau Premier?
https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Chanel/Chanel-No-5-Eau-Premiere-2015–31172.html
It was the original flanker to No. 5, but I believe met with limited success. L’Eau is the latest one
I had in mind to thunk my sample of Reve d’Ossian today, but I woke up craving for Lush Rose Jam. After using the shower gel and wearing the body spray I feel cheerful enough to face a super cold and also insane day at work. On my third cup of iced coffee and smelling good!
Have a great Hump day everyone!
Iced coffee?! Is it warmish there? Also, you smell fantastic. My favorite thing about rose jam, is how it lingers after a shower.
It is very cold here, but I rarely drink hot or warm coffee. Just don’t like it much.
Rose Jam is very long lasting and it smells delicious! I wish there was a body lotion.
It’s cold! I am going to pick up my little ones soon and I am dreading going outside. But when the sun is out I am ok with stepping into refreshing temperatures. No sun, I am more hesitant.
Unfortunately it is very cloudy today. I am out now for a couple of minutes and it is not pleasant for sure. And it is just the beginning of the season ?.
Yay for iced coffee and for smelling good!
Thank you KellyC! ?
You smell great. Stay warm!
Thank you!
At least your SOTD came up roses. ?? Our weather, not so much. I heard that there is the possibility of stormy weather sometime next week.
According to the weather forecast it looks like the storm will skip us. Fingers crossed! ??❄
I need to get you a sample of 1000 Flowers Rose Cassis Paradise.. which is supposed to be a better version vof Lush Rose Jam….and it has excellent longevity.?????
Creating a new lemming is quiet dangerous! ?. Rose Jam to the rescue!”?
I went with Carnal Flower today from a dabber sample. Tuberose is not usually my thing. Although, I do think CF is beautiful. I can’t imagine spraying this one, I can easily smell it easily. I think dabbing is the the way to go with this one. Amazing…
Ha the other day I put oh maybe 6 sprays ha whoops I think that was 3 too many. You smell great!!
WOW that sounds powerful!
I spray it, but yeah – it creates a thick cloud when applied.
You smell gorgeous!
I think you smell beautiful! I’m not hugely into tuberose, but I think it’s the green freshness of CF that makes me love it. I also dab it and it behaves nicely ?
You smell great!
Just got my decant of Goldfield & Banks White Sandalwood this morning, so I had to spray that on, as well as several samples from Osswald NYC. The Montale Orchid Powder is a lot nicer than I was expecting.
Oohh… the name Orchid Powder just sounds so good! Enjoy sampling ?
I second that. The name is intriguing. Montale is not a house that I know well. The few that I tried didn’t work for me.
This one is totally different from their usual scents, I am contemplating a purchase.
I went with Tauer’s Sotto Luna Tuberose today. It smells a little dusty to me – if that makes any sense. Another cold, grey and dreary day.
I haven’t tried the Tauer Tuberose, but I smell a particular “dryness” in some of his other scents, so I think I get what you mean by “dusty.” How does he do it??
It smelled dusty to me, too, but agree with holyneroli that a number of his perfumes have that dustiness.
Yes! Dryness leading to a dusty effect. It’s interesting to me – I’m a fan of his
You smell great, I love that one.
Remnants of St. Clair Casablanca on my robe sleeve. Still going strong. I think I’ll wear Joy later this morning. I’ve had some homemade moonshine, jalapeño flavored, right out of a mason jar it was actually pretty good. Cheers.
I am jealous you are still in your robe.
Ha well…I needed to be up and at ‘em…empty nester now.
How do you like Casablanca?
Sent you an email
Jalapeno flavored moonshine sounds all right in my book!
??
Casablanca!!!!!! Swoon….
Jalapeño moonshine sounds marvelous! So does your perfume.
SOTD is Chanel’s Misia – I really enjoy this one but I’m glad I sprung for a decant vs. a fb. The humidity has really amped up the soapy iris note in this and I’m finding it nice, but a little too much of a good thing.
I love Misia! Sorry it turned soapy on you today.
I think it’s great on cooler/dry days, then I get this beautiful green violet note. 🙂
I am always amazed at how the weather affects perfume!
Isn’t it cool?
Testing out CK Reveal today, provided by therabbitsflower (thank you!)
I’ve never smelled anything quite like Reveal. It sort of smells like the last half of a perfume – like when you spray on a perfume the night before, and wake up with the drydown. It’s keeping me interested though – the first several minutes after spraying has a salty, spicy-pepperiness that would’ve worked well for the savory perfumes challenge from a few weeks ago. There’s some ingredient in Reveal that also reminds me just briefly of CK Euphoria, which was my first perfume love.
I’m also wearing a little bit of Neutrogena Body Oil, which smells like jasmine to me, so I’m sort of on theme with the CP!
I love that body oil!
Me too!
Hey everybody! Today I’m wearing Calyx, from my vintage Prescriptives bottle. I know this one turns pretty easily, but my bottle smells great. I love that burst of fruit, followed by a musky dry down. Fantastic stuff.
oh how I loved Calyx–wore it for years. Lucky you with a vintage bottle.
. It has an ingredients list, and the batch code indicates it’s from 2009. But I think it smells just like I remember, which admittedly is mid 2000s.
Oh, it’s not too vintage.
That’s was the first sentence that I lost.
You are smelling amazing! I’m a Prescriptives Calyx lover.. I just picked up a bottle here in Or!ando a few days ago.
I woke up in the middle of the night and sprayed some on to test it. It was perfect!
I have a feeling I’ll be wearing it to bed!
Vintage Calyx was one of a kind.
My bottle is certainly not very vintage (batch code says 2009) but I love it.
That’s about the same age as the bottle I have, and it smells just like how I remember the original Calyx from the late 80’s.
Good to hear! I read a review from Fragrantica by a guy who worked at Prescriptives. He said they had to wear Calyx every day, even the men, and he said it still smells the same as he remembers.
Jealous!!! That was my signature scent every summer from 1986 to 1995
Excellent! It is a bit cool in Houston for a fruity floral but I’m still greatly enjoying it.
House triplets with Robin and hannahmom in DSH’s charming Eau Cerise!
The year of commando is over????
Welcome back Holly!!!!
Hey Holly! You smell great — I really like that one.
(Waves at Holly!!! )??Hi!! So nice to see you!
Wasn’t in a BWF mood today, so am giving a full on testing of my BF Vetiverissimo sample. Smells similar to one of my vetiver incenses that I burn and love.
Half work day for me and then off for 2 days- the fun includes a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy tomorrow. I’ve had many so I’m not bothered by any if it. The most intolerable part is actually having to wait in a hospital-issue gown and robe in a waiting room for too long. Ugh.
Half a day for me and also off for two days. I hope you get some rest and are able to enjoy the time off, even though you have to have the medical tests.
Yay for 2.5 days! Enjoy your dad’s visit!
Good luck with the tests and enjoy your break.
Thanks Aurora ?
Good luck with those procedures! Two days off sound great!
Thank you pl67!
Ugh, no fun. I hope it all passes quickly and you have some time to enjoy your days off.
Yeah, not fun, but it will be nice to have a an extra long weekend.
Is that BF FB worthy, in your opinion? And good luck with your endoscopies tomorrow! I’m three going on four years overdue….?
I like it and don’t own a single vetiver-centric perfume so maybe this will be the one ? It’s pretty straighforward vetiver to me. I think a couple of people here reported not liking it and they’re more into vetiver than I am so YMMV, of course. Worth sampling if you like his stuff.
This is my 5th colonoscopy over 26 years ?
Bleah! Good luck with your procedures! ? At least you get a long weekend to recover from everything.
Thanks Jalapeno! I’m already thinking of what’s for dinner tomorrow night- I was supposed to only have clear liquids today, but I totally cheated ?
I’m glad you’re not bothered by the procedures, I would need a lot of tranquilizers to get through that even once. Hope all goes well.
Thanks!
Oh, they knock you out good. The 1st time I had one I was 22 (1992) and they gave you twilight sedation then and I was pretty much awake the whole time, but a little loopy. THAT wasn’t fun and it was also painful. I think they started completely knocking people out because it was less efficient having patients who were awake and only semi cooperative.
Oof. Hope it’s all over soon!
Good morning friends! Been a crazy couple days at work, so I’ve reached for my easy go-tos. Shalimar yesterday and No. 19 today. Looking forward to leaving early to pick my daddy up from the airport. He arrives from Korea for a week. Yay!
Sitting in my office currently watching the Bush funeral. Regardless of politics, it’s nice to see people being civil to one another and the love the Bush family had for President Bush is very touching to me.
You smell lovely. I hope your time with your dad is wonderful!
Agree about the Bush family. It is nice to see familial love and respect.
The contrast between past and present administration is so remarkable! Never thought it would be so glaring and painful, but there it is.
RIP GB??
This! RIP 41.
Have a wonderful visit with your Dad 🙂
Enjoy your dad’s visit! I hope that everything goes smoothly.
I don’t think of myself as a BWF person, but… I’m pretty eclectic in reality. Today I wore a dab of my Tubereuse Criminelle decant and it’s lovely. And it’s hump day and I’m at work, so there.
Yum, I think that’s going to be my Friday SotD. One of the few tuberose I feel comfortable in.
Brrr! Good Morning!
1) I had drama, but honestly I had to say no. I have had enough this year, and I think past a certain age, some things you have to take some responsibility for.
2) In Karma, for my friends in/from Wisconsin.
3) It is COLD and very clear here in Portland- brrr! Soup week it is, with all the herbs from the garden!
Yes, brrr here as well, though not as chilly as you all in Portlandia. One thing about this town that I truly did is the Pho on every street corner…! Enjoy your soup! ?
Oh, there is a Pho joint right down the way from me and they are really nice in a pinch! But I have really gotten into making broth and such this year- really deep bone broths at that, gallons of it and then freezing to make a variety of soups.
Did you say Wisconsin?!
?
Yes! I went to school at Ripon!
I’m wearing Dzing! today. It’s the last sunny day here for a while, so I made sure to go outside for a walk during my break.
In big news at my house: we’re getting a dog! My husband has always wanted one and he found the perfect girl. Our German Shepherd will be coming home on Tuesday or Wednesday. I hope the cat forgives us.
How exciting! Give your new dog (and your cat!) a big hug for me
Wonderful! Enjoy your new dog!
How wonderful! I’m sure your new family member will bring joy.
I recently adopted my FILs shepherd since he can no longer care for her. She’s a great dog. Very sweet. Good luck!
Oh, how exciting!!!! Enjoy all the cuteness and try to be patient with the rest of the shenanigans?
Dog! Yes! I’ve had a few friends get new dogs in the past few weeks. It’s that time of year, I guess.
Oh, fun! I think interspecies relationships usually work out. Another cat might be entirely different…
Best wishes for your new furry family member and your current furry family member. ???
Fun! I grew up with a German Shepard, such smart and beautiful dogs.
Congratulations on your new puppy! Hope the cat and the dog get along tolerably well.
Recovering from my birthday yesterday–such a big number!! But I am grateful for the loving people in my life and all the good things that I have. Getting ready to cruise (literally) out of town on Saturday, so while I dust off the suitcase and do laundry, I am wearing Lili Bermuda’s Jasmine–going to the Bahamas, but close enough. We may get some snow later, so my trip out of town is well timed.
Happy belated birthday! Have a wonderful trip!
Many happy returns and enjoy the cruise.
May you have many more big numbers (and cruises!)
Happy belated birthday! Enjoy your trip!
Enjoy! and happy birthday, belatedly!
Happy Birthday and enjoy your trip!
Happy Belated Birthday! Many you celebrate many more special numbers and beautiful perfumes. ??
Bon Voyage!
Enjoy your cruise! Happy one day late birthday!?
Happy birthday and bon voyage!
Happy birthday and I hope you come home with a great tan!
Robin, what do you think of Uptown Moonshine (which is now forever etched in my brain as Upstate Moonbeam)?
SOTD = Jo Malone Myrrhband Tonka
The bottle is almost going to be thunked. It was the bottle from which I did a split. I have a back-up of the super cute 50 mL.
To answer Perunia’s question yesterday as to which fragrance may be similar to VC&A Ambre Imperial, I would say it is an office-safe version of MFK Grand Soir. Grand Soir projects more, is chewier and heavier and has incense. Ambre Imperial is reserved.
Commuting Woes No. 616:
Instead of holding on to a pole (there was a whole one just for her!), this woman decided to squeeze in between two people standing by the door and lean her right shoulder against the door so she can keep both hands free to hold her mobile device to watch a movie. I was one of the two people standing by the door and she was crowding me. Because it was a short ride anyway, I decided to not say anything but pretended the train was jerkier than usual and swayed my body against hers while the train was moving until she finally stood up straight and stopped crowding me.
Several weeks ago I mentioned a woman in the office who was looking for Lost & Found because she lost a 2nd diamond necklace. This past Monday, I saw her mail sitting in a credenza by me and I instant messaged her. She replied that she was working remotely and could I drop it off where her team sits in a secured area. Intold her she can ask someone in her team to stop by or she can pick it up herself when she’s back in the office. Really? I am not a messenger. Next time, I will not even let her know she has mail. She can stop by every so often and check.
I’m not surprised that Myrrh & Tonka is getting THUNKED. That’s so, so good, especially with the colder, wet weather that seems to have settled in.
What??? You are thunking a bottle???
You smell great, love Myrrh & Tonka.
Thanks for the perfume comparison! ?
I like it! It is less a overtly “holiday” scent than some of her other Christmas scents, more urban / less cozy. So have that in mind.
I’m surprised that I’m the first person to wear Moon Bloom for the CP this week, though it might have a good showing on Friday.
I’ve gone on a sampling tear lately and was very bad over the weekend. I’m expecting the following samples this week: Fum Fragrances sample pack, January Scent Project Treebuoy and Burvuvu, and St. Clair Perfumes Casablanca. I also ordered 12 samples from Sixteen92, but they have about a 3 week turn time, so I won’t have them for a while. I immediately ordered more samples from them after receiving my first sample order last week. For those that like honey scents out honeyed florals Blood and Honey (honeyed floral) and Mellifera (honey with less pronounced florals) are must trys. I also enjoyed Baba Yaga and Tituba.
Looking forward to hearing about your new samples! I can get some vicarious sniffing done that way. ?
Berdoues Maasai Mara today, it’s so cosy, so fluffy, so good!
Went to the shopping gallery after work to do some gift research, I think I might have found a gift for my mom.
Good for you! I’m in gift research mode. So hard!
Ooo I really need to get my nose on that Berdoues
SOTD is Arquiste Nanban. Hello old friend! So nice to have you out of storage!
Has anyone tried Le Labo body cream? I am lemming the Hinoki version. Even though I usually don’t love scented body lotions. Still. A lemming knows no boundaries.
Tried this recently and I’m impressed. Really gorgeous scent.
It is, isn’t it? I have the shower gel and now am itching to try more of the Hinoki products.
I did buy a travel size of that but ended up giving it to my brother because the scent wasn’t my thing (the Basil is, though ?). Don’t recall the quality of the cream, though. But, I’ve been impressed with the quality of the hair conditioner, so maybe that translates to the cream?
Soooooooooo tempted.
Try a travel sized first- low commitment…
I only have a travel size bottle of the Rose 31, that they offer as hotel toiletries at Fairmount I think. Anyway, I don’t find it moisturizing at all and wouldn’t buy it. But I haven’t tried the hinoki one.
Good point! I have tried the Rose 31 lotion several times and have not been wowed by the moisturize-ability. Lemming averted (perhaps)
A lovely mild day and I’m in Flora Nerolia, jasmine, orange blossom and neroli, a lot of jasmine actually, the lasting powe is very good indeed. I think it’s my favorite Aqua Allegoria along with Winter Delice.
That sounds nice! Are you a jasmin fan? If so, do you have any jasmin recs for non-jasmin lovers? I know the flower is my namesake but I generally like smelling it in nature and not in a perfume
Hello Yasmina: for a light jasmine, with gardenia in the top notes Annick Goutal Un Matin d’Orage might suit you, it’s sheer and lovely (I recommend the EDT, the EDP is headier with tuberose), heavier, jasmine with sandalwood, more complex, Guerlain Samsara is a very good classic, I also find VC&A California Reverie very nice (jasmine with a beeswax note), and for jasmine with rose, Jean Patou Joy. If you want to explore more hardcore jasmine, the 3 Serge Lutens are worth exploring: A la Nuit, Sarrasins and La Religieuse.
In the dregs of my decant of Bas de Soie, which mostly evaporated away over the summer. Hyacinth is not quite a BWF but I like this one, except for the weird smoke note in the opening.
Oh drat!!
I’m in SB Bolshevixin Perfume Oil from a sweet NSTer.
Spent the last 3 hours on the phone trying to get my insurance reimbursement, which apparently is not possible since that “can’t” mail to any address other than home address. Electronic refund seems to be beyond their abilities, and now, they’re looking into “approval” to snail mail to local post office. I tried to tell them I’m not going to be here in 7-10 days to receive it, but that fell on deaf ears. And since I have no ID, a paper check is useless.
Spent an hour and half yesterday waiting in general delivery line to see if I had any mail (still waiting on my tags, which Florida DMV has sent twice since nov. 7th!), only to be told I had to go wait in another line. I could write a book about his post office and it’s surroundings, which seems to be a Mecca for the half clothed, methed-up populace. I brought T-Rex in the post office with me, even though it said seeing eye dogs only. No way I was going to chance another break-in and lose my dog!
If you want know what the beginning of the end of civilization looks like, do a drive-by of downtown San Jose. I don’t recommend walking in case you need to leave with speed?
Ugh and ugh. Do they get that your home is your vehicle?! Anyway, I hope it all gets sorted out!
It will get sorted. It’s a lesson in patience, of which I have none when it comes to this kind of junk. I have to say I’m astounded by this area. I’ve traveled demestically and internationally and have never seen such a cesspool as this town. Hard to even believe I’m in the US at anymore. Thanks for your BF vetiver feedback. I’m pretty sure I would like it simply because his scents just seem to fit my receptors so well.
Domestically ?
Huh. I haven’t been to San Jose since the 90s. I’m kind of surprised it hasn’t been cleaned up. I suppose Brooklyn isn’t calling your name ? We’d be happy to have you, though!
https://www.mercurynews.com/2013/12/16/san-jose-crime-rate-surpasses-u-s-average-arrests-plummet/
Guess I should have done my research first…!
Yuck! What a Charlie Fox! ? It sounds like you will be happy to forget the way to San Jose after all that you have been through.
Touché! Time to hit the road for sure.
Ha! Total ear worm now!
And should have said “Walk on by”…!
I had to go google Charlie Fox! Lol! Thanks for teaching me something new! So much classier than my “Cluster F***” description….?
I learned both expressions from several people I know who are ex-military. “Charlie Fox” is the NST safe version. ?
Which is all the more reason I should have known it too! But like Deva I had to google.
Yikes. Do you know yet where your next assignment will be?
Nope, I am done with this agency. These is more to this story which I won’t bore everyone with, so I have switched companies.
This is a less active time of year, so most likely I won’t be working until after the first of the year. As soon as I get my credentials in the mail, I’m gone baby gone! I’ll be headed down to Arizona to do some winter camping in the desert until I start the next gig.
You’re welcome if you ever get to my neck of the woods!!
Flopper, you are too sweet! Big hugs to you! ??
Still having a horribly busy and stressful week. Will have a week off next week, but am worn out and feel as though I need a decompression chamber, rather than a holiday. So no BWF, am honestly just not in the mood. Finished my sample of Close Up (Olfactive studio) because “more coffee”. I really like this, but I can see it languishing on my to buy list indefinitely.
I can totally empathize with your week! So sorry, and hope next week brings you a multitude of rest, relaxation, and peace. ??
Hope you get a nice break and decompression next week. You smell wonderful.
I hope you get some RR soon!
Not a fan of BWF, but found a sample of Fath de Fath. Fruity white floral, which has tuberose too! Its nice and not too cloying, so noone complained.
Took part in Andy Tauers Advent Calendar and WON!!!! A cancel scented with LDDM for free! Happy Dance ???
Boyfriend hates scented candles, but will have to tolerate this. Luckily he is okay with this scent.
Tomorrow i will not wear tuberose again, i need a break
Ooh congrats on the win and thank you for reminding me about the Tauer advent calendar!!
Sweet! Nice one to win, too. That’d be my pick.
Oh, congrats! I just saw the wowzilla(?) yesterday and left a comment. ??That candle is a great one to win, enjoy!
Nice! Report back on how the candle is when you get it…(goes off to participate too…)
How lovely, congrats!
SOTD and still going strong: Cuir d’Ange
Yum!
Estee Lauder Modern Muse — lots of pretty jasmine for today 🙂
I’m in Hermes Vetiver Tonka today. I bought one of the sets of 4 15 ml mix and match hermessences yesterday. Vetiver Tonka is good but it last for about an hour. I think cuir d’ange and Cèdre Sambac are my favorites.
I used to love VT and had a travel spray I was over-using in an effort to thunk it. Now have no desire to smell it again for a long, long, long time…
Isn’t it interesting how our loves change?
Love Cèdre Sambac, that’s my favourite.
I remembered that I have AG Gardenia Passion, so I spritzed that on today. I am happy with my choice!
House twins! You smell wonderful.
I’m wearing Joy Jean Patou, and thinking about wanting a powdery vintage perfume. What would be something to look for? I’ve explored Lanvin, Chanel, Guerlain…what else is there? To me, it’s like a powdery hug. Rouge d’hermes was close.
What about the Patou Collection Héritage? I’ve never tried Rouge d’Hermès, but those Patou’s are great and feel rather retro.
I’ll look for that thank you!!
Lorenzo Villoresi Teint de Niege is a beautiful powder scent. Also DSH Powder or Kenzo Flower.
While I haven’t tried it myself, people always mention Molinard Habanita as a powder bomb. Ombre Rose isn’t that old, but powdery as well. My grandmother wore Chantilly and it was nice and powdery, but has probably gone downhill lately. Good luck!
Oh great thank you! Off to ebay I look!
Have you tried Bal a Versailles?
I was going to suggest Guerlain L’Heure Bleue, but I thought you had worn it recently?? ? If you want something that has a vintage feel, some of the Oriza L. Legrand scents have a decent amount of powder in them. Lucky Scent has samples of them.

Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions! ??I’ll look at luckyscent. I did order a Habinata from eBay. I do have L’HB — was looking at vintages they are just getting so pricey.
Jasmins Marzipane as I had a meeting today and wanted lovely but not intrusive.
After that I got a haircut from a place around the corner from me. Have walked by numerous times but never tried it. Got about 3 inches lopped off. Why does that feel so good?
Love that fresh light hair feeling! You smell great.
Snow flurries here today for a sizable chunk of the afternoon. Nothing is sticking, though. But the folks in Atlantic City are getting between 3 to 6 inches! Weird. ❄☃
SOTD = Oriza L. Legrand Relique d’Amour EdP, from the sample stash. I had to grab a heavier incense for the weather and my mood today. Thanks to the NSTer who had mentioned this one earlier in the week!
Late to the party but today was exceptionally busy at work so no time at all to even read your comments.
My SOTD is Tubéreuse by Goutal (discontinued), a very good and very unadorned tuberose. Denyse (Grain de Musc) has done a good review of it.
Still dithering about tomorrow, too many choices in this category. Could easily fill two weeks!
Gris Clair…thunk…
I heard that! High five!
I have a small sample of this that I recently tried. It reminds me of smelling a cloud. Not that I have ever done that…
Yay for another THUNK! Gris Clair reminded me of kitten fur when I tried a sample of it. The floofiest, softest kitten fur possible.
Yay! Keep going! ?
SOTD: Louanges Profanes, Parfumerie Generale. Thunked the decant. And my ninja like alter ego finished off my other decant of Songes, by Annick Goutal.
