It's Monday, again, and it's the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing the cheery Providence Perfume Co Tabac Citron, thanks to a very kind reader.
Reminder: on 12/7, pick your poison BWF...wear a perfume with tuberose, gardenia or both.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is citron [cropped] by abir arous at flickr; some rights reserved.
SOTD is Jovoy Gardez-Moi which fits both last and this week projects – it’s a gardenia scent made by Bertrand Duchafour. For me, this is a white floral bouquet where gardenia leads. There are some green notes, but not as much as I expected from the pyramid. I do not get and spices or fruit from this perfume. Actually, all I can smell here is gardenia, jasmine and lily, plus something slightly green and watery. Gardez-Moi has a good balance of clean and heady white florals for me. Like it!
I want to do two weeks of gardenia and tuberose (with a weekend break), because I love BWFs and do not have any of four ‘D’ houses for the next week. Maybe I’ll wear something starting with D next Friday, but apart from that – nine days of tuberose and gardenia! That is, if I can, because there is such thing as a BWF overdose…
Preparing for this CP, I made a list of gardenia/tuberose perfumes I like:
Givenchy Organza (gardenia&tuberose)
Versace Blonde (gardenia&tuberose)
Robert Piguet Fracas (gardenia&tuberose)
Narciso (gardenia)
Elie Saab Essence No. 2 Gardenia (gardenia)
Jovoy Gardez-Moi (gardenia) – done!
By Kilian Beyond Love (tuberose)
Frederic Malle Carnal Flower (tuberose)
Serge Lutens Fleurs d’Oranger (tuberose)
Serge Lutens Fleurs de Citronnier (tuberose)
Le Labo Lys 41 (tuberose)
Tom Ford Shanghai Lily (tuberose)
Dior Tendre Poison (tuberose)
L’Artisan La Chasse aux Papillons (tuberose)
Joy (tuberose)
Very interested to see what other BWF lovers will wear. đ
Gardez-moi is gorgeous. I love gardenia. You smell beautiful.
Thank you! Good to see another fan of Gardez-moi.
I love the idea of a two-CP crossover for Monday! Your list is great.
Thanks!
wow..that is some list!
Thank you! I kind of played safe with it – nothing indie or recent, most of these scents are classics and quite popular among perfumistas.
I’ll wait to hear your comments on them. I always enjoy your mini reviews!
Ah… Thank you! This is a rather self-indulgent CP for me – so these scents are mostly well-reviewed and well-known oldies and my favorites. (Although I have only recently discovered some of them.) So I’ll be praising everything I guess. But I do intend to write a few words on each of my SOTDs.
Your list is awesome, and inspired me to wear Carnal Flower ?
Great list!
Thank you!
Oh, thanks for posting your list! I have samples of a few of them, so that makes planning for Friday easier.
That’s great! Thank you.
????????
Thank you for that terrific list!
You are welcome! I am glad you like it.
I will start participating tomorrow, as BWF’s are one of my favourite categories. However today, I’m wearing Les Nuits d’Hadrien.
Not mine either! But I do have enough of them to participate a few days this week. đ
I’m in Terracotta Le Parfum which, while certainly big, contains neither of the approved white florals. (Jasmine, tiare, and orange blossom are the BWFs in this scent)
Well, tiare is also known as Tahitian gardenia, so I think it should count. Anyway, you smell terrific!
agreed. you get points!
Hated it on me, but sure it smells fab in you! The best part was the bottle- I absolutely loved it and it near broke my heart to swap it. I certainly agree that points are coming your way?
I’m wearing Seville a l”Aube. This presents as a BWF on my skin, so it sort of counts.
You smell great!
Good morning Y’all…..
Fa-la-la-la-laing in Demeter Frankincense and Demeter Christmas Tree. I wish I could figure out where I’m smelled the sweet note in Christmas Tree before??? Candy? A candle? A person?
Smelly weekend: I trekked over to the Mall of GA (I only go a few times a year), and did my annual Lush haul. My 2 girls love to get a big ol’ bath bomb in their stocking, as well as some of the skincare items. I sure do love me some Lush! I couldn’t leave without buying What Would Love Do and Cardamon Coffee solid perfumes. They are gorgeous! Glad I don’t have a Lush closer to me…they get my money everytime! đ
I bought What Would Love Do in the solid a month ago. It’s terrific for something so simple, isn’t it? Some days you don’t want complicated and structured, you just want straightforward and accessible.
WWLD is AWESOME!! I wore it twice this weekend and was impressed how long it lasted on skin. Might have to spring for the bottle next time….
Cardamon Coffee is so light on my skin that I’m not sure it projects at all…but it’s very cozy and warm. I like it but don’t love it as much as WWLD….
Cardamom Coffee tempts me every time I go to Lush.
Your custom Demeter SOTD sounds perfect!
Do it. I got a bottle and I LOVE IT.
Not to enable or anything.
I have to exercise a great deal of restraint, since my metro area has TWO Lush stores and I have only one bathtub! đ
I felt like wearing SL Chypre Rouge, the first Lutens I ever bought and for me kind of the echt-Lutens: slightly strange, completely unexpected, starting with fruit (in this case fruit-gums) and ending up warm and soothing. I love it so much.
I’m with you on this one (again! I seem to remember that you’re a Miel de Bois lover too?) In winter when it is cold and damp, Chypre Rouge makes me dream of Hansel and Gretel Houses and mythical forests.
Yeah, I love Miel de Bois recklessly. I have a real soft spot for the weird Lutenses: they’re so distinctively him they might as well have a signature on them.
“Mythical forest” is a great description of Chypre Rouge.
I am a fan of Chypre Rouge. It was, for me as well, an early Lutens, and represents much that made me fall in love with scent. Its funkiness is a major reason why I enjoy it so much – there’s a weird celery note, along with red hots, and then pine. Sounds awful, but it really works for me when I wear it, and does, as Amyitis points out, evoke an otherworldly forest.
Etoile by Fragonard
The heart has gardenia (also some jasmine and lily)
Went for a refreshing walk around the JKO reservoir this morning after dropping the little ones
Nice way to decompress on this Monday morning…
You smell good and had an excellent morning! I love good deep morning walks in late fall/winter.
I guess since I don’t live near a forest I couldn’t call it forest therapy or whatever the new fad is. So its just “central park bathing”….
Love central park bathing!!!
Jolie Madame today. We had friends over for a board game party this weekend and I invited people to come early if they were interested in perfume show-and-tell, which was really fun, and I gave away a bunch of freebies too. So when I awoke this morning I had most of my favorites lined up on a shelf to pick from, which was a nice change from having to venture into their usual dark cool closet. I did have a tragedy a few days ago where I bumped the shelf and dropped a whole shoebox full! Everything was okay except the sprayer on my Moss Gown is wholly broken and a few spilled drops of Cabochard parfum. ALAS.
I love Jolie Madame too. But only in cold weather and at EXACTLY the right dose sprayed.
Interesting! For me it’s almost always good – I first realized how much I loved it when I had to do a solo 18 hour drive and it was the only thing I could imagine wearing that whole time.
Great choice, Regina, this is my favorite violette along with SL Bois de Violette.
That’s awesome! Both the board game party and that you invited people over early for perfume show and tell!
2nd that!
What a great-sounding weekend!
OH NO! Glad your perfume treasures were mostly ok. You smell great, though, and your party sounds like great fun.
Iâm in SSS Winter Woods on a pretty chilly morning! Brrr, I had snuggle up under my below 0 sleeping bag last night, and T-Rex is once again sporting her orange fleece. WW is the perfect scent for this weather, which Iâm absolutely loving. I have so much more energy in cooler temperatures, which is good because I have a lot of running around to do today.
Called off sick today and will be emailing my agency because I have decided I. Am. Not. Going. Back!
I am officially unemployed ?
Sometimes those are the exciting times, when you’ve decided that a door has closed, but you’re still waiting for the universe to take you to your next destination. I always feel wholly alive during those times.
Full disclosure: I also like arriving in a strange city where I don’t speak the language and making my way to where I need to be with public transport!
Amyitis – I love the exact same experience.
Deva – I hope you find the perfect position for you soon.
Maybe we would have been explorers/buccaneers in a different age! When I was little, I drove a friend crazy by always insisting we climb a tree and then pretend that it was a sailing vessel. I didn’t mind not being captain and having to climb the branches to “adjust the sails.” But it wasn’t really what my friend (a very girly girl) preferred to play. Now, in the 21st century, arriving in a city without checking various Apps and Google maps, counts as being adventurous!
I was a tree-climber as a kid, too. “My” tree was a big willow in our backyard. I would climb up as high as I could get and just hang out.
I have (almost) convinced my husband that figuring out how to navigate a foreign city’s transit system is part of the travel adventure.
Youâre my kind of traveler! ??
Exciting changes right around the corner….I like it! Enjoy the transition with T-Rex! đ
Iâm thinking I need to go to Arizona….
Go for it! You and T-Rex will be glad to see the back of this one.
No kidding! Thanks for your support! ?
Don’t let the screen door hit you, amiga! Take off with T-Rex and find some other place, with people who appreciate you.
That might be asking a bit much, but just a âdecentâ work environment would be grand!
Good luck Deva. I hope you find somewhere that truly appreciates your devotion.
Iâm too old to be devoted to anything but good coffee and ice cream, but thank you?
Deva, Iâm excited to hear youâre moving on. You donât need to be around that kind of negative energy. Give T-Rex a snuggle from me.
She will happily accept your snuggle offer! ? This whole town is so weird- like stepping into the Twilight Zone…
Go Deva! I hope the next experience is a better one.
Thanks, me too!
+1
Hoping you will get a fantastic job in a friendly place, Deva.
Thank you Aurora?
Here here!
??
On to better things!???
Jeez, I hope so, thanks lillyjo! â?
Congrats on unemployment! Wishing I could join you on this very Monday Monday.
Thanks! I think…?
Hi Deva, I don’t check in here everyday so I just have bits and pieces of what you have been going through but even with limited knowledge I’m happy you have the opportunity to change your situation. You certainly smell wonderful đ
Thank you! I love Winter Woods, but it takes real commitment! ?
“Just when you have things set, when it’s all in place, when your life is good, there’s another door.” Lyrics by Maltby and Shire, but it’s a philosophy that I believe. All good things are coming to you.
Thank you jepster! I have learned that myself over time. 10 years ago I would have stayed out of fear of disappointing and angering others. Now, I donât give a flying rats you know what.
Wow! Exciting!
Well…different, anyway ?
SO glad to hear that, although I am sorry you will be temporarily unemployed.
Thanks, my concern really is healthcare coverage…so, hopefully I donât âbreak a legâ or worse.
I’m glad to hear that you’re leaving that job. Life is too short to be dealing with that negativity. There will be better things ahead!
And you smell great. ?
Thank you!
Donât blame you, that place sounded awful, then the horror of your van break-in. Glad you are not going back!
Me too. I would not be able to concentrate on work because I would always be paranoid about another breakin. Apparently, itâs not uncommon in this parking lot. Iâve never seen security pass through, even on the night it happened.
Good for you! It would be soul-crushing for me to work with the kind of people you described in your most current gig.
Soul Crushing is it, exactly. And then to have everyone else dismiss your concerns like youâre a 5 year afraid of the dark… really infuriating.
Best of luck to you and T-Rex in whatever road presents itself! ?
Thanks jalapeño!
Onward and upwards, Deva!
We can hope! ?
Wearing L’Eau d”Hiver from Malle today.
It contains jasmine, but certainly not a BWF. I actually forgot to look at the community project his AM because I went out to start my car only to find it had been broken into. Nothing taken, but still made me flustered. I almost forgot to spritz before heading to work.
Glad nothing was taken, but that’s awful! I’m sorry that happened to you. I hope the day improves. You smell wonderful.
Echoing Lillyjo. And you’re in Canada, aren’t you? One almost wants to say “But that is so out of character!” Which would be very naive, I’m sure.
I recently moved ” in town” from a previously quite rural setting, so I guess I need to be a bit more vigilant re: security.
Still, nothing lost and no damage – I’ll take that as a win.
Glad there was nothing taken, but it kind of sucks, doesn’t it. My husband just left his car, parked and locked in a Walmart lot in Mississauga and ran in to pick something up. When he came back the car was gone and the police told him to check back the next day. Sure enough, it was back in another lot but with everything intact. Apparently someone just wanted to drive a BMW for the evening.
Thatâs too bad! I hope the car wasnât damaged.
Ack! Iâm so sorry to have a break in twin! Horrible horrible! Glad nothing was taken and your remembered to spritz to âre-balanceâ the world! â?
That’s so unnerving. Hugs.
Wow, weird. Incompetent car thieves??
Oh no!! Glad nothing was stolen but such a pain. At least you smell great.
Sorry about your car. That happens where I live too, usually itâs âkidsâ rummaging around for electronics.
That totally sucks about your car getting broken into, but happy to hear that nothing was missing. I hear about that happening in Philadelphia quite a bit. A lot of times, it’s teens making mischief.
Just at home today, so fragrance free. Been meaning to post as I promised to let NST-ers know about my experience at the new Byredo shop & Floral Street company in London, so apologies for the fact I’ve been home for 2 weeks & not done so yet! Byredo very underwhelming, but that could have been down to the young lady who asked if I was aware of their products, when I said I was, was never seen again!, unlike another potential customer who was greet by a chap who started giving the person the history of the brand, which sounded very interesting indeed. Wouldn’t bother going back there. Floral Street was entirely the opposite – gorgeous shop with engaged & well informed staff – they have 8 fragrances, & we were asked if we had the time to learn about them, which we did, so got the breakdown of each one’s ingredients & the story of the business. My friend Marion (who I’ve mentioned on here before as becoming interested in fragrance because I’ve worn her down over many years of assorted trips!) loved the first two in the collection (they seem to range from light floral to more intense orientals) & was given samples of both, then bought two ‘discovery sets’ as Christmas gifts. Surprisingly, I was interested in the extreme other end of their offerings, which contains ylang ylang & espresso! I was given a sample but have yet to use it, but I am intrigued by my liking of it, as it’s so unlike what I usually go for. Would definitely pop in here again – a bonus is that’s in the Covent Garden/Seven Dials area, which is one of our favourites areas of London & within walking distance of Bloomsbury, which is our favourite area to stay in. Also, there’s a rather fab jewellery shop opposite, where I bought an absolutely beautiful pair of long, ‘dangly’ yellow gold & kyanite earrings! Earrings & perfume are definitely my thing, just as well I have the wherewithal to indulge in both!
Good customer service seems to be an endangered species. Glad one of the shops was a pleasure to explore. â?
Covent Garden is also a favorite London area for me! Sounds like you had a good trip overall.
Yay, so glad it was fun! Do report back when you spend more time with the Ylang Espresso.
BWFs are not my usual style, but I do crave them from time to time. Today I’m in a small white floral – Atelier Cologne Grand Neroli. Just right.
A question for BWF lovers – I recently got a sample of Child perfume, which I like, but I think is a bit overpriced for what it is. According to Fragrantica, Kuumba Made Pikake Lei is a close match. Has anybody tried both? What do you think?
I have a couple of extra samples of Child floating around. Ping me if you want them. emc dawt 7 1 1 7 in the land of geee-mail.
Child struck me as similar to Kai — same SoCal BWF thing — which I’d also classify as “a bit overpriced for what it is”.
Ooh thanks, Pixel!
Would agree with that assessment. I do like Kai better but it isn’t worth the price.
Sotd is Bond No.9 Central Park West. I could have sworn this had tuberose, but notes show gardina and Jasmine. Definitely big, though. Robin, are you sure today isn’t some kind of chocolate day? Because I just ate a chocolate eclair as big as my head, and need something to blame it on ???
Where did you find a head-sized eclair, and can you ship one to Nova Scotia??
The best part was it was at the gas station for only 99 cents! Lol
Every Monday is a chocolate day.
? very true!, I will blame Monday.
Thanks for your sweet comment yesterday. I really appreciated it.
Oh, gosh, your welcome. I hope things improve.
Oh, sounds like your Monday is starting off right! ?
Oh, forgot, it’s eat something as big as your head day! And you won the day!
Mondays almost always call for some kind of remedial chocolate. ???
SOTD is Ninfeo Mio. This (with le Parfum de Therese) is my desert island fragrance.
Ninfeo Mio! I love the dry down, which is a creamy citrus (lime, I think..) on me. You smell wonderful!
One of my favorite summer time scents!
SOTD is Memo Grenada. I always expect this to smell more citrus-y, but it’s kind of a warm BWF.
Wasn’t what I had in mind, but I’m enjoying it.
Ack, cannot remember if I tried that one!
I had a wicked craving for Deneuve today and I am bathed in it.
You smell great!
Always good to satisfy those wicked cravings??
Guerlain L’Heure Bleue. I am going to try to get some Christmas presents wrapped today, if I get all my work done first.
Fabulous perfume!
Oh dear, I am nowhere near wrapping! Did get the lights on the tree today.
Happy Monday!
1) Cold and pea soup foggy this am; dawn was clear and bright. It is going to be a good day for walking in late fall sunshine.
2) SOTD: Cuir de Lancome. No gardenia!
3) Way to much holiday tipple this past Friday EVERYWHERE in all the shops. I bought much needed boots and had the mother of all hangovers. I can’t party like I used to.
In the check out line yesterday I saw a display of homeopathic treatments for among other things hangovers. May favorite remedy was for “Intellectual Fatigue,” which apparently shares a surprising number of symptoms with hangovers. So, by their reckoning, you are in good company!
I NEED THAT. STAT!
I have both, so this remedy is definitely needed! đ
So drinking too much or studying too much will make you feel the same next morning? The choice seems to be obvious then.
đ
Yes. But sadly they do not make you feel the same the day of… !
Ha!
Yes, good old Nux Vomica, great for hangovers and what the archaic British homeopathic manuals describe as « brain fag ». đ
Drink plenty of water!
All the water! I had shakes and my entire body was flushing loads of heat- a sign that my poor liver was truly taxed. This week will be gentle soups, broths and herbal teas.
Until next weekend. *cries*
Sorry you don’t feel as good as you smell!
Oh I feel okay today! Just earlier this weekend I had to recover from Friday holiday tipples.
Iâm wearing Beige, and smelling a lot more classy and put together than I feel. Have a great Monday!
Love Beige! You smell very elegant.
And such a cheerful scent with such an uncheerful name!
You do smell classy! Sometimes just having that touch of something is what is needed to get us all together!
Smelling more classy that I feel is a perpetual state for me haha.
Iâve been woken up by the HVAC people who came to give me an estimate on replacing my heater (I completely forgot they were coming). I canât believe how expensive it is! And I hoped that the previous company was just greedy. Now I see that they were quite reasonable. But that price makes me want to wait until my current heater breaks completely, which I know isnât a good idea. Grrrr!
On a positive note, yesterday I wore Amouage Epic and this morning, about 20 hours later, I can still smell it in my hair. So I should probably stay on Amouage theme and go with a tiny spritz of Dia hoping it wonât disturb much my perfume-sensitive co-worker.
Hi Undina,
You are in the Bay Area? I just replaced my furnace heater and went through the whole bidding process, choosing, installation–etc. Ping me if it would be helpful. ann dottie eisenberg attagirl comcast dottie net
Thanks! Will do tomorrow.
In Civet because that was what I was in the mood for. . . it is one of the few vanilla-heavy scents that I really like. It also, as I understand it (because I certainly cannot parse it out among the notes), has tuberose in it. So voila.
Thanks everyone yesterday for your lovely notes about my self-created mess. I am still really annoyed at myself (so many challenges to parenting a child with special needs, the last thing I need is to indulge in losing my cool and giving his teachers an excuse to dismiss me).
Anyway, still on the subject of persons with disabilities, I heard a really interesting story on the radio this AM about a super group of doctors that work together to diagnose mystery diseases/rare incidence illnesses. (The story is also about a wonderful family that is coping with two children who have a degenerate condition–in case that sort of story is a trigger for you.) :
https://www.kqed.org/futureofyou/445693/medical-detectives-the-last-hope-for-families-coping-with-rare-diseases
I think Civet is the only perfume with tuberose that I have, saving it for Friday. You smell great!
I never realised Civet has tuberose, how strange and surprising. I’ll have to pay attention for that the next time I try some.
Never thought of that too….must try it again
Civet was probably my favorite of those that I’ve tried from this house. I haven’t felt the need to own any yet despite the cool bottles.
I missed your comments yesterday, so will chime in now. I don’t think you need to apologize for your email if your concerns were valid. You may email and apologize for the TONE of your email. I have an ongoing issue with my son’s school in that he is really behind in what he should already have achieved, and that is really due to his teachers’ -two for a class of sixteen -laissez faire attitude. This while we are paying private school tuition fees. The problem is that it is easier to be assertive and go to battle against people who are inflexible and steely eyed (read the head mistress). The source of my problems, the very kind, soft-hearted, but ultimately incompetent teacher, makes me feel boorish and like a bully. Such is life.
I hear you. In this instance, I actually think the spec ed teacher is quite bright, but is stubborn when it comes to doing something she hasn’t done before. And she has the unquestioning support of the principal. She will make a big show about something that takes two seconds and is not a big deal in front of folks who don’t know any better (ie submitting a form that shows that the parents were invited to a meeting). But in this instance, she needed to do a little research. Instead of doing the research, she spent 20 minutes explaining to me why what I was asking for was so much work, at the same time conveying to me completely incorrect information. Anyway, I know you understand! I am clearly not over it. And, this young woman has a talent for exaggerated passivity packaged as being “easy going.” So, I apologized. I have two and half more years at the school. Argggghhhh.
I can still summon up the exact feeling of stifled outrage from some of the school meetings about my son 12 years ago. Hugs to you Oakland Fresca!
I hope you get to see this, even if a day late. I do understand. Best wishes for you and your son. May you be able to dig deep and overcome. When my son was about seven years old, the child psychiatrist told me that God gave these kids to special mothers. (And this man was the absolute opposite of schmaltzy!) However, these are special kids too and my life has been immeasurably enriched.
Hey friends, Guerlain Baiser de Russie today on one of the last Mondays of 2018.
I love that one! You smell beautiful
SOTD is Edward Bess Genre. I finally swapped my summer frags for my winter ones 2 weeks ago so it feels like I have a whole new perfume shop in my house.
Not a BWF fan but I probably have something… need OF’s cure for Intellectual Fatigue though if I’m going to think that much about my SOTD though, lol.
Have you tried all of the EB scents? For some reason, I am haunted by the thought of Spanish Veil, but the company won’t ship to Canada, and the decantsites want $20.00 USD to ship anything here.
Is it worth it??
I own Genre, La Femme Boheme, and In A Scent. Spanish Veil was the only one I didn’t like but then I’m rarely a vanilla fan.
I think they’re pretty darn good đ Sorry if that doesn’t help squash your lemming đ
I’ve worn all of those (thanks to you and another NSTer) and love them all save Spanish Veil, which went awry on my skin.
I have a hard time these days wearing woody scents as they tend to go sour to my nose (like Spanish Veil did.)
The others share a gorgeous dry, papery, woody base that I LOVE. I’m not sure others experience them the same way. They also have a certain rich decadence. Worth trying, hannahmom đ
And, I *almost* wore Genre today, so almost-twins to pixel đ
I LOOOOVE Genre soooo much. You smell fantastic.
SOTD BF Au Dela Narcisse from a swap with cazaubon. No gardenia or tuberose, but lots of neroli and maybe some jasmine. Regardless, I’m enjoying the way I smell today and happy to have a decant ?
You smell great! I was shocked by how much I liked âfloral dominantâ perfume, since I seem to be a floralphobe. No BWF for me!
What do you get from the dry-down?
Merci! I used to be a floral phobe, myself. Not sure what happened. Drydown is mostly a mossy amber with traces of the greens/florals from earlier on. Faint, though.
Ah, yes! Just checking my nose, but we seem to be getting the same thing. I feel like I need to make sure my nose is in accord with others, or if Iâm getting something completely different.
Sunny and mild and wearing Givenchy III so not participating in the CP yet but will line up contenders, perhaps I will have a look this evening.
I need to line up some contenders too!
NVC Niral kind of day today
I am in La Douceur de Siam by Dusita, which according to Frangratica is a primarily “yellow floral” accord. I tried this in warmer weather and didn’t like it, but am enjoying it more in the cold although I think I like Fleurs de Lalita more, which I do think is a BWF.
Happy Monday everyone!
I’m sure I’ve said this before but I see BWFs as mean girls on the playground – tuberose hates my guts and trash talks about me to gardenia who maybe kinda likes me, and I’m hanging out with incense, woods and thorny roses, acting like I don’t care đ
SOTD is En Voyage Zelda, so gorgeous and has magnolia so I feel I should get partial credit. I don’t mind about tuberose smelling like Eau de Wizard air freshener on me (yes, lower even than Glade) but I had a favorite aunt who wore Fracas and had a fur coat and always smelled so glamorous!
This made me laugh, thank you! Your aunt sounds totally fabulous.
Love Zelda and Iâm on your side of the playground for sure! ?ââïž
Thank you everyone for kind expressions of sympathy for my poor old cat Xena who went over the Rainbow Bridge on Friday. I returned home on Saturday and it was surprising how much I missed her gentle little presence here and there in the places she would occupy. I took her in along with her brother as fosters at age 10 when they came into the cat shelter after their owner killed himself. They were utterly terrified and it broke my heart. Of course, then after a year, I had to keep them. Gabriel died two years ago and Xena was almost 17. I have a lot of cats and have gone through many deaths but it’s still very hard.
On the subject of perfume, this morning I’m wearing some from my brand new bottle of Zoologist Camel. That one really snuck up on me and I found I was spraying from the sample all the time. This is my first FB from the company and I’m impressed by the packaging and really nice hefty bottle with its heavy cap and unusual shape. I’m still so stuffed up I can’t smell it properly but the smooth cinnamon rose is soft and appealing. I don’t get as much fruit from it as others seem to, so to me it’s less like an older Lutens than some find. It’s kind of buttery, even. I don’t at all think of myself as a fan of BWF’s but it turns out that I own several and love them, so this week will be fun. But have you ever had an actual tuberose bouquet in your house? There’s nothing worse!–except possibly stargazer lilies–they send me sneezing every time. Tuberoses just gag you!
I missed the news about your cat, but sending you hugs. Never easy.
And yes to the tuberose bouquet which I will always associate with a childhood friend’s mom who regularly had them in their home. She was a large, eccentric woman who drove a large white Lincoln town car and wore crazy huge hats and had a huge personality. So the tuberose bouquets fit her to a tee!
Oh I love love love fresh tuberose, star lily, jasmine, orange flowers, even paperwhites… No gagging… but I might have given myself a headache once or twice… đ
So sorry about your kitty. I still really miss ours who “went over the rainbow” over a month ago. I’ll see a really big deer out back, or our new kitten will do something goofy, and I’ll start to wonder how our old cat would respond.
I don’t own any Zoologist fb’s, but Camel and Civet are my two favorites, and I am contemplating the next step in my relationship with both of them.
I’m just seeing the news about your kitty cat. I’m so sorry… ((hugs))
So sorry about your kitty! Cats have their own special ways of making their presence know in a home and in a heart. They had many happy, loving years with you!
I’m in for another nutso week at work, but at least I get to sit at my desk this week instead of at a table in a conference room like last week.
I saved a Duchaufour for today – L’Artisan Nuit de Tubereuse. I smell lovely.
Twins! I love Nuit de Tubereuse.
Woke up at 5:00 AM with a massive migraine for the first time in forever. Gosh it hurt so bad. I’ve managed to get it under control at least enough to come to work and get done what I have to get done. If I weren’t going to be off half the week anyway with my dad in town I wouldn’t have come at all, but I have a few things that really need to be done so here I am.
One little spritz of Twilly on my arm before I headed out the door. It’s just an “okay” for me. I do love that bottle though so I wish I loved it more.
Ugh, headaches can be totally debilitating-hope yours goes away soon!
Agree on the Twilly bottle, so cute!
Hope itâs gone soon!
I hope you feel better by now.
Yuck on the headache! And waking up with one is one of the worst ways they show up. I hope it’s gone now. ?
Kudos to you for managing to do ANYTHING with a migraine! Youâre made of strong stuff! ??
Still wearing Felanilla from my new bottle. This is the longest that I’ve worn the same scent since falling down the rabbit hole.
Nothing wrong with going steady for a little while, scent-wise!
NO, No, no Tuberose for me…..maybe a little gardenia, but jasmine is my BWF of choice. However, today I am dry as dust in LDDM and loving it. Flowers tomorrow and later this week….
You smell fantastic.
Hi all, my SOTD is Caron’s Fleur de Rocaille – one of the few I managed to find in the 15-something boxes sitting around my new apartment! I didn’t realize it fit so neatly within the scent project!
It’s a favorite scent, with mimosa, jasmine, ylang ylang, gardenia, iris and lilac and a sandalwood/amber dry down.
The good news is only two boxes left to unpack, I managed not to dump SmokeyToes in the recycle bin, and I only got lost once coming to work from the new place. It’s all good! đ
Moving is a lot of work! Good for you for being down to the last two boxes!
Sounds like everyone is settling in after the move!
Thanks Jalapeno! đ
I like BWFs, but not sure if I can wear one every day this week. I am in Child today. It is really nice in warmer weather, and I have received compliments on it, with people sometimes wanting to know the name of the perfume I am wearing, who makes it, etc. Have to be careful, though, because it really is big. Today I’m going to see how it performs in cold weather.
Twins! It really is big, Iâm in just a dab.
BWFs are so nice to wear during the winter. So inspired by Glannys and the week project, Iâm wearing Carnal Flower, from a decant.
You smell exquisite!
I enjoy BWFs in winter, too. There is something in Carnal Flower that associate with winter – maybe it’s eucalyptus/menthol note.
I admire all you BWF lovers. Youâre the real deal when it comes to perfumistas! I pretty much hate BWF, and that makes me feel like a perfumista poseur. ?
Funny, but I think that BWFs are something you either love or hate from the start regardless of your knowledge of or previous experience with perfumes. After all, the concept of BWFs is fairly simple. Basically, it is a sensation of burying your face (or sometimes even having your face shoved đ ) in a bunch of white flowers. Some like it, some don’t. đ
On the other hand, I have always thought of classic chypres as scents for true perfumistas – they are complex, they unite contrasting notes, they do not go for photorealism and they develop and change over time.
R.I.P. President Bush. He was the epitome of public service and ascended to one of highest positions anyone could ever achieve in a lifetime! In 1990, he signed into law the Americans with Disabilities Act.
SOTD = Le Labo Vanille 44
Iâm 2 weeks early for the numbered fragrance community project. Non-gourmand incensey vanilla. Love!
I got my printer yesterday – HP OfficeJet 6958. It has all the features I was looking for, including good paper capacity, sheet feeder, ability to scan and print legal sized paper, separate cartridges for each color, scan to file / email. With my printing pattern and some concerns zi have about usage tracking, I decided not to go for the ink subscription service even though it is $ efficient. It also does not have a photo printing feature but I did not even once use that feature with my old printer which was in the photosmart line. It may be a tad slower but I donât do volume printing anyway. Iâll let you know in 3 months how I feel about it. So far so good!
You smell great! That is one of the few numbered perfumes I have for that cp too.
Yes, R.I.P. President Bush. This morning my husband showed me the picture of his service dog lying next to his casket that got tweeted. It just about brought me to tears.
My mother said the same thing about his dog this morning. Very moving and a life well lived.
It was very moving indeed. I just saw it on the NPR website.
Non gourmand incense-y vanilla siblings, maybe? ?
Maybe ?
Ditto Bush and his service dog photo. Dogs do so much for humans. I hope that dog is well taken care of and stays with the family for the rest of his life.
I think I saw a news story that Sully the service dog would be helping out with other veterans.
Well, I think thatâs a shame. Dogs in the armed services got left behind and slaughtered after every war America was involved in. We consider animals to be disposable and reusable. I think all service animals deserve a happy and loving home in middle and old age.
Actually, he will go back into service to help other war veterans. I was thinking it would have been nice to have him go home with the Bushes but he is first and foremost a service dog and has many more good years in front of him.
Thatâs what theyâll be saying about you when youâre 75! âThereâs many good years in that hajusuuri!â ?
Oh, and congrats on your new printer! Many hundreds of sharply printed documents are waiting to be born ?
Thank you. The papers have been popping out!
Omg, sooo late today. This was supposed to be my Saturday, but work was so crazy busy that I went in to help.
Now I am participating in Child perfume oil. Thanks to Nancyleandros and the last freebiemeet, I can participate all week!
Hope that you have a Saturday-ish or Sunday-ish day coming up in your schedule.
You are an angel to go in on your Saturday! I wouldnât be able to do it. I can barely bear to arrive on my scheduled days, which are now nonexistent. Hope tomorrow is a day of rest for you ?
SOTD Fille en Aiguilles, which reminded me a lot of Wazamba. So i tested this too. Fille is a bit sweeter und fruitier with a Church-like incense. Wazamba is a dry incense with fruit notes, mostly an apple note und a bit smokier. I dont think i will need both fragrances as they have a similar theme.
Theo Fennel for the evening, as my Boyfriend is not home ?
While the cat is away!
It’s been a busy Monday for me. First, an eye doctor appointment for me, then a consultation at the vet in preparation for Pixel kitty having dental surgery. I’m hoping that the blood work from the vet’s office comes back OK.
SOTD = Oriza L. Legrand Reve d’Ossian, from the sample stash. I’ve been wearing this over the weekend and into the week. Right now it is totally my jam.
Good luck with Pixel kitty. I hope it goes well.
Thanks Petunia! If the blood work is all right, Pixel will have her surgery next week. I’m going to be crossing fingers and toes!
I love the sound of that one but Iâm afraid to try it for fear of falling in love with another expensive perfume. I hope pixel kitty comes through with her blood work and dental with flying colors. ?
It is a quiet but persistent incense with a bit of vanilla on me, if that makes any sense. The FB prices for it are scary!
Thanks for your well wishes for Pixel kitty.
I can help kill your lemming – RĂȘve dâOssian lasts about 30 minutes on me.
Best wishes for kitty!
Thanks from Pixel kitty! ?
Best wishes for a good outcome for pixel kitty.
Thank you, Hajusuuri! I hopefully will know more tomorrow.
