Happy Giving Tuesday! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in the very comforting Comme des Garcons series 3, Incense: Ouarzazate by Mark Buxton. Tea at the moment is a Ceylon from Upton.
Reminder: 11/30 will be Renegades Friday...wear a perfume by Mark Buxton, Bertrand Duchaufour or Geza Schoen, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: The Decca Records teapot ("A blast from the past, this quirky Decca record teapot is hand made and hand painted by Carters of Suffolk. Not only fun it is also fully functional! Highly desirable to teapot collectors, lovers of retro design or just for tea lovers!") is £47 at Peach Perfect in the UK.
SOTD is St. Clair Scents First Cut because in many ways I see Diane St. Clair as a renegade. A quote from her website-
“With hundreds of natural substances and synthetic molecules available, simply learning one’s materials can takes years. There is then the art of combining and dosing them to achieve the desired effect, which can truly be an exercise in trial and error.
Perfumery, historically and still today, is largely a “closed” industry, open to a select few who mainly study and have mentors within the domain of the large fragrance houses.
It can be challenging to find teachers and mentors as an “outsider.” My case was particularly challenging since, as a dairy farmer needing to care for my cows, the ability to travel for classes and meetings was restricted.”- Diane St. Clair
AND a PSA- yesterday she released a new fragrance, CASABLANCA. It’s an extrait and it sounds sublime-
https://www.stclairscents.com/shop/casablanca-perfume-extrait
Y’all know I have been wearing perfume for close to half a century on a daily basis. Only a select few perfumers resonate with me- Laurie Erickson of Sonoma Scent Studio, Jessica September Buchanan of 1000 Flowers and now Diane St. Clair of St. Clair Scents. With the closing of SSS I am happy to have found a replacement house. And in a multibillion dollar fragrance industry that seems to be more and more about profit, greed and redundancy/overabundance in releases I would much rather support a one woman indie house that makes extraordinary fragrances with passion, love and intent.
Nice post! I will check these indies out!!! YAY!
and then let us know what you think 😉
I have tried St. Clair scents. Very well done, in my opinion. And yours also, chocolatemarzipan 🙂
SSS has permanently closed ?
Yes, sadly, SSS is no more. I bought the very last of her stock 🙁
I just ordered a sample of Casablanca!
It sounds really good, right?
Oh please report back on Casablanca, so very curious and tempted.
I tried her fragrances because of you and agree that they are wonderful! Looking forward to trying the new one.
Enabler pin for me? woo hoo 🙂
I so hope Laurie finds someone to take over her business. So many beautiful scents waiting to be produced…
yes
I liked the samples, but her bottles are so small – 13 mls. How long does a bottle last you?
Chiming in to say that I visited her website last night, as I saw on Instagram that she released Casablanca. With her new perfume release she has also upgraded to 30ml bottles. I had a slight moment of sadness because I loved that I could buy a bottle from her for under $100 in a small quantity, but alas she currently is still also selling the 13ml “travel size” bottles. I’m curious if this will be only until she uses up her bottle stock, or if she’ll always offer the two sizes.
Also, I may not make it through the day without buying a sample of Casablanca.
Like rabbitsflower mentioned she now carries 30 ml bottles. I still have my 13ml bottle from back in the late spring because usually Mr. Marzipan wears it and it lives on his side of the medicine cabinet ( when it is on him it is like catnip for me…frisky time!!!!). One spray on his chest is all he needs and it lasts for about 12 hours and radiates (me, I have scent eating skin so I do one spray on each wrist and one on the neck-sits closer to the skin for me and does not project as much on me as it does on him). The bottle we have (13ml) is still about half full.
I think you get many enabler pins for proselytizing about her perfumes. I think quite a few of us have purchased the sample set because of you. I definitely plan to buy one of her perfumes in 13ml soon, but I need to spend a little more time with each of them before I decide. And now I also need to try Casablanca.
I think we are all wanting to try Casablanca!
hoping that someone on NST does a review soon!!!
Fantastic comment!
😉
SotD = CdG Avignon
Love this stuff, it smells so good with my wool cardigan, freshly out of the cedar chest.
Giving Tuesday! A wonderful reminder to share, so I give you a bit of a poem:
The birds insist on pecking the wooded dark,
The wooded dark pecks back.
It is time to show the universe what you are capable of
says my horoscope, increasingly insistent this month.
But what I am capable of is staring
at the salt accident on the coffee table & thinking
What sad salt. I admire my horoscope
for its conviction. I envy the consistency, Every day. Every day,
there is a future to be aggressively vague about.
from “Nature Poem” by Chen Chen
I love that poem! What is your favorite source for learning about new poems? I subscribe to a poem of the day but would like to be better abreast of what is new out there.
Check out Poetry Daily – lots of good stuff!
My daughter is taking a creative writing class, her teacher suggested Chen’s work. I like to look around at poetryfoundation.org 😀
We are cousins, except that I need to get a cedar chest!
**waves**
Hi cousin!
You smell so nice. It must be very calming to be near you.
Despite snow and cold, I wanted something fresh and summery, so I am wearing Acqua di Parma Cipresso di Toscana by Bertrand Duchaufour.
Sometimes I enjoy my “summer” scents better when it is cold outside.
Frangipani again
Donatella, I have confession . FB purchase yesterday if this scent
I am a sucker for big white florals. Songes is my other weakness
Pleine Lune Tea
Woo hoo! I love Frangipani. You smell great. I got travel sprays a few years back basically unsniffed. Wasn’t too sure. Then fell in love. So nice when that happens.
How is it in cooler weather? I generally wear in summer.
What other ones did you like
I have Tolu, Woman and Vanille d’Iris and a decant of Ta’if. I rarely wear any of them, so this is a good CP for me to pull them out and revisit. Tolu was my original favorite and how I ended up with the others.
We are talking about two different houses, but I love the sound of these too.
You should really like the BWF cp coming up then!
Hah! I should have known that from prior posts! I blame age. I’m becoming Emily Litella…
Congrats on your bottle!
Yay, Lili Bermuda Frangipani! Glad to see you followed my advice yesterday. ;-). Enjoy!
I love Frangipani and finally got a full bottle with the black friday 20% discount and free shipping.
I thought there would be free samples but no! Still need to try Tolu.
Continuing on with Escentric Molecules, I am wearing Escentric 02. This one is definitely a skin scent. Love the teapot.
I have a sample set of those too. Need to systematically try them out as well, so thanks for the reminder! ?
I love Escentric 2. It’s the perfume that started my rapidly expanding collection! You smell divine.
SOTD is Meo Fusciuni’s “L’oblio” which I purchased in Taormina, Italy. It’s bringing back good memories of my fairly recent trip to Sicily and Italy.
Nice!
What a great teapot! I’m basking in Or du Serail today, now that it has settled a bit. That initial blast of pineapple is a bit much sometimes, but it’s short-lived, and the sweet tobacco takes over quickly.
Isn’t that fun? I wish you could pick the record label — that would be perfect.
You smell fantastic! Love Or du Sérail.
You smell great! I wore Or du Sérail recently and enjoyed it a lot.
Just wearing lavender essential oil. I am very stressed because my dog will have surgery today at 12:30pm. I dropped him at the clinic early this morning and he was very scared. I hope everything goes fine and I can have good news later today. Healing vibes and prayers for him are very appreciated.
Have a great Tuesday everyone!
Hoping and praying for a speedy recovery for your sweet boy.
Sending all sorts of white lights and good wishes to your boy. Please let us know when he is out of surgery and in recovery?
Hope everything goes well. Hugs to you and pup.
Prayers to you and your baby
Best wishes to your furry baby, and hugs for you! I had my kitty at the vet yesterday for a respiratory infection (fever, coughing, runny nose and eyes!), and he’s already much better….Hope the same for your doggo! 🙂
I hope your kitty recovers from that infection soon! Sending healing vibes!
Sending you and your doggie good thoughts and prayers.
Sending healing vibes for your dog! I hope the lavender oil also helps you to feel less stressed.
Sending your dog calming vibes and healing thoughts through the ether.
My dog only had surgery once and I’ve never felt so awful. I hope everything goes well!
I hate it that pets can’t understand when we tell them we’re doing it for their own good. It’s an awful feeling. But I think they have short memories? I hope you’re reunited soon and comforting each other!
Love and prayers to you both?❤
Sending good vibes to both of you. Your reunion will be sweet.
I dropped my dog off, too, though only for a blood test. Unfortunately it is preparatory to possible surgery for a torn ACL and I’m already freaking out about that. You have all my best wishes for a successful operation and speedy recovery without complications..
I know it is very stressful to go thru all that process. I hope everything goes well with your dog. Be positive!
Hugs to you! Hope the surgery goes well. Today (every Tuesday) is chemotherapy day for my cat Cole. When I pick him up later I’ll get his weekly status… so I am a mess every Tuesday. The status always seems to be mixed… this is better, that is worse. As the vet says, the roller coaster of cancer treatment.
Meanwhile my cat Kooky has shoved himself between me and the back of my chair, and is complaining that he does not get ALL the chair. I have pointed out to him that there are many other chairs in this house, and he could have picked any of them, so he should stop whining about having to share.
Pixel, I am so sorry to hear that Cole is going thru chemo. I understand how stressed you must be all the time. We love our pets and we always want the best for them without much suffering. I hope that he can successfully recover and be over with the treatment soon. Let’s be positive!. Sending healing vibes!
I am so glad that Kooky is keeping you happily busy in the meantime with his company. I used to have cats before and even though they are so demanding, they are adorable! Hugs!
Continued healing prayers for Cole. I have been through a similar roller coaster with congestive heart failure, it is so hard.
Hoping for a smooth procedure and prompt recovery. Hugs.
I’m so sorry you and your pupster are having to go through this. You’ve been through a lot this year. Big hugs and the very bestest positive vibes to you and your pup.
Please report back!
Thinking of your sweet boy and wishing for a speedy recovery.
Hugs to you! Wishing for the very best outcome and recovery for your beloved. Yes, keep us posted!
Best wishes to you and your dog!
Surgery went well. However, the next 48 hours are very critical. The surgeon hopes there are no complications. The stress continues, but I hope my dog Yei comes out of it satisfactorily. Thank you all for your support. I know he is receiving all your healing vibes.
Praying for a complete and speedy recovery for your baby.
Yei and you are both in our thoughts. I hope everything goes well in the next critical hours – and then going forward.
Happy to hear that the surgery went well for Yei. Big hugs to you, and best wishes for the next 48 hours.
Hope the surgery went well or is going well! My dog does not like going to the vet – but the other day, I went because I thought we had an appointment when we didn’t (I was off by a week), and that was a great visit – he bounded right into the door the following week. I’m not sure they forget fast, but they forgive fast, I’m sure of that!!
Sending positive thoughts for you pup. Virtual hugs for both of you!
Sending healing vibes to your dog and calm vibes to you.
Sending you my best vibes and wishes for comfort and healing on this Giving Tuesday.
Good morning Y’all….BRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! 🙂
At least I smell warm and cozy in Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit! Someday, when my 3 kids are grown and hopefully make me a grandma, THIS is what I want to smell like for my grandbabies! Warm cozy vanilla soft huggable ginger biscuit grandma smell! (My kids are teens now, so the huggable thing is kind of lost on them right now, unless they are feeling extra lovable…LOL)
My Christmas picks are up on YouTube! Click my Avatar for a new video. My middle kid INSISTED that she edit for me (she LOVES to edit videos), so maybe more videos are in the works? We’ll see! 🙂
I will check it out 🙂
Thanks!
Love Ginger Biscuit…bought the huge bottle for middle Marzipan when she turned 18..I won’t tell her she smells like a sweet smellin’ granny-LOL!
She smells good at any age! LOL This is just how I picture myself in 10 years maybe? A cookie smellin’ grandma! Definitely enjoying it now just as much…. 🙂
So excited for a new video! Will watch after work ?
Enjoyed the video. Now will have to test the ELDO
I am wearing Bvlgari au The Bleu, drinking a cup of peppermint tea and listening to Adele, Rumour Has It.
We got the Christmas tree down from the attic, and started decorating it last night.
This year is going by too fast for me. I cannot believe we are at the end of November already.
I can’t believe it’s the end of November either!!
You smell lovely! I’ve just picked up a second decant of au The Bleu – such a nice lavender tea scent.
It is a blechy, rainy, cold day here, so I sprayed on Ombre Rose by Jean Charles Brousseau. Powdery rose + suede. Perfect for the days you need a little, scented hug.
We had that day here yesterday! Glad you found the perfect scent for it.
Ombre Rose, an oldie but a goodie.
Hope you aren’t stuck under the icky weather for days on end! That gets to be a downer fast.
That teapot is adorable! I really appreciate stuff that’s unique and not the same old.
Today I’m trying, and loving! Bruma by Cire Trudon. What a beautiful scent. I just wish it lasted longer and didn’t wear so close to the skin. Iris/suede/tonka loveliness.
How’d everyone survive Cyber Monday?
I agree with you about Bruma…It’s so beautiful but so fleeting.
The teapot is really cute.
I actually sprayed some in my hair to hopefully get it to last longer. Not the same, but I think it helps!
Cyber Monday was a big bust for me…..mostly because I’m cash poor at the moment! LOL Maybe I’ll get in the swing this weekend….
I did more damage on Black Friday myself. 😉
Same!
I bought a small stocking stuffer at a Molten Brown, but I resisted doing more Muddled Plum products.
Other temptations arose, but I resisted. No regrets, which is a good thing. Just hoping that coat/jacket we got my husband (at 50% off) over the weekend fits.
I got their new Jasmine & Sun Rose shower gel. The dry down is lovely. I can’t say I’m thrilled with the quality of the suds as I like lots of bubbles! But it’s a nice change from Rose Jam which I’m – shock! – growing tired of.
I hope the new coat fits too!
I survived the whole weekend until yesterday, but I was very good and bought just one bright mustard t-shirt from Jungmaven to round out my collection from them. I discovered their comfy hemp tees earlier this year and now I have all the colors I want/need (until they release new colors ha). So I spent only $43 including shipping and tax. Probably my best Black Friday weekend ever.
Comfy and a good thing too!
Just in case you’re interested in spending more money, The Bodhi Tree now has everything 40% off today- wish I’d waited on the Blackbird incense (which was 35% off when I got it, so not bad still), but who knew?
Got most of my Xmas shopping done yesterday! Since all of our family gifts have to be shipped I hunt down free shipping mercilessly. All the easy folks are done. Now I have to wrack my brains for the difficult people. My dad is the worst… if I send him something he doesn’t like, he claims that I sent the gift to his GF and sent him nothing. I swear that the older he gets, the more juvenile he gets…. family, bah.
Oh, and I did plenty of Black Friday damage for MYSELF. Donatella will be impressed.
Black Friday is all about me!
I’ve yet to purchase anything for anyone. My dad is tough too, although he’s a golfer so I feel like I can pretty much get him something golf related and he’s happy.
Gosh, that sounds so self-centered! This year it turned out to be shopping just for me. 😉
Haha! I didn’t even notice- probably since I only bought stuff for me, too ?
My father is the same. And though I did buy a couple of things for my DH and nieces, 90% of the damage was all for moi! No one buys me holiday gifts any more so I buy my own. At least I always get exactly what I want!
EXACTLY!!
You do smell lovely! And it is fleeting- which is why I only wear it when I can wear short sleeves. Otherwise it gets buried under clothing ?
$4.38 on Cyber Monday in the donatella department – a sample of Neroli Intense with free shipping…
No shopping at all for me. It’s been kind of nice not going thru that kind of crazy.
I wanted Paestum Rose today after my cab last night kind of smelled like it… but I couldn’t find any, so I’m in vintage Ivoire instead and that’s all right with me.
You are smelling wonderful today!
Ivoire is a fabulous 2nd choice, it is so complex.
Vintage Ivoire is very, very good stuff!
In the CP today with Aedes Des Venestas by L’Artisan, a beautiful purple bottle and a beautiful BD creation.
Sometimes I feel like I lurk around the perfume universe just following HIM. I love his work and he is the predominant nose in my collection. ( Well he is rather prolific after all!)
I saw a new Mark Buxton that I am curious to try, he’s going after the CdG Avignon feel ….. now I have lost the name, think it is also a natural perfumer house. I will report back when I find my phone note.
Cheers All!
I hear you about BD: he’s the predominant nose in my collection too. It’s true he’s prolific but there’s usually something about his sensibility that I respond to.
I hope you find this on your phone — I would love a natural Avignon!
I am still looking, I also remember a marine note mentioned. I will search and then find you to report back! Promise.
Noz ! I think I found it: Folie À Plusieurs: Mood Indigo- not a natural scent though.
It is not on rotation at the moment on their website but should be around. I am going to try this one. It is based in a jazz movie of the same name. The candy perfume boy did a write up 2015/05/11. I read it elsewhere as well recently and that write up featured a movie trailer so I know it is available. That’s where he discusses doing an Avignon version of incense..,, his quote. Sounds pretty cool!!
I think I found it! Folie À Plusieurs, Mood Indigo by Mark Buxton!! It is based on the jazz film of the same name.
It is not currently on rotation @ this website but available by request.
The recent review I read had a movie trailer as well but I cannot find that link, however The Candy Perfume Boy did a review on 2015/05/11.
It is not a natural version. I can’t wait to try it.
Wearing Rundholz 03. Apr. 1968. It’s a blast of apple then smoke. I love it, very warming on a cold day. Thanks to my friend who gave me 5 ml, this one is going on the FB list.
I’ve got decants of three of the Rundholz perfumes. All are good. I just hate the way they title them though. They’re impossible to remember!
I love that one too, you smell great!
Ooh, I’ve been wondering about the Rundholz perfumes. They sound great!
SotD is Tolu. I am loving this cp, as it’s letting me revisit the OJ samples that I didn’t get around to when they first arrived. This is another winner. I appreciate the fact that she makes 8 ml travel sizes, I just wish the sets were customizable. Mine would be: Woman, Champaca, Osmanthus, Fragipani and this one. Maybe a split is in my future.
So every year for Christmas I get each of my kids a book as one of their four gifts (something to wear, something to read, something they want and something they need). Is it bad if I read them first, before I wrap them and put them under the tree? Lol
(Reposting…I responded in the wrong spot below…)
If it’s bad, then I’m even more guilty as I used to wear the earrings I bought my sisters before sending/giving them…
That’s an excellent gift giving tradition, by the way.
And I’m with you on the OJ scents…they’ll take me through the week.
Oh, I really like this gift buying idea!
I did that all the time when my son was a bit younger!
Oh gosh, your customizable OJ set sounds about like mine would! I may would substitute Osmanthus for Isfarkand but the others in your set are spot on!
Love your gift idea for your kids. And no, it’s not bad to read them first haha.
Speaking of things that are fortunately NOT especially lemmable, the $800 candle:
https://qz.com/quartzy/1474556/the-luxury-candle-market-is-booming/
And BTW, if I’m going to spend $100 on an incense burner, it will be Astier de Villatte, not Goop:
https://www.suefisherking.com/product/astier-de-villatte-incense-burner-antoinette/
If it’s bad, then I’m even more guilty as I used to wear the earrings I bought my sisters before sending/giving them…
That’s an excellent gift giving tradition, by the way.
And I’m with you on the OJ scents…they’ll take me through the week.
No idea how that ended up here… meant for madtowngirl…
I can’t imagine spending $100 on anything goop….
Beautiful incense burner. And blast from the past….I used to live just up the street from Sue Fisher King in the mid ‘80s.
It looks like an amazing store — what temptation!
I bought a gold glitter cheese knife from her shop years ago. I still have it and really enjoy using it. I had to buy something from the store as everything was exquisite and that’s all my budget at the time would afford.
I like that burner, but the way they’ve done things with her chopped off head kind of creeps me out!
(And by done things, I meant the “head on a plate” is not the only thing they sell with her head)
I think of it as her submerged in a pool, I guess. I also like the cat but it’s way more expensive, even.
Nice burner and I’ve eyed the Astier incense which is $50- I haven’t reached that level in my incense habit yet.
Yes, very curious about that incense!
???☕☕☕
Rien ELDO which is a funky leather musk on my skin.
Fantastic!
Iris, cumin, black pepper combine in a totally unexpected fashion.
One of the aspects I love about perfume as a hobby.
????✌?
I love this one too! You smell fantastic.
One of my friends wears this and I always linger a little longer when we hug hello. On her it’s cuddly.
You smell wonderful Bear! (and in keeping with your nom de plume)
?Wear that funky leather…?✌
I love Rien. I think you smell sexy!
???? ?! I bet you wear Rien well, Bear!
????????
Thanks Everyone !!!!
It do bees goooooood!!!
??????✌?????✨?
Just put on a couple sprays of Clinique Wrappings. I have a tiny bottle that I just got on evil bay; based on the color of the juice it could be older, possibly vintage. I missed out on a larger vintage bottle on the bay; I was beat out by someone placing a last second bid over mine. I probably paid too much for this tiny bottle but it smells fantastic. No regrets.
I owe an enabler pin to Smoky Toes!
Going out for a walk around the complex in the MUCH cooler weather here today.
Congrats on managing to get one that smells fantastic!
I sometimes use a bidding service on ebay where they place the bid for you at the last possible moment. Gixen is one of them, and it’s free to use. I’m a bit ambivalent about it since I also sell on ebay (less often than I buy – too stressful).
You do smell fantastic.
Have you sniffed a current bottle of Wrappings? If so, how does it compare to your vintage?
I haven’t smelled a current version yet. I live in Canada and inquired at a few places which ‘should’ have sold it (as there are Clinique products), but it seems to be a Holy Grail!
I’m keeping my eyes open for some in my shopping travels soon as we are on holidays in Florida.
I’m wearing Absolue pour le soir which is Something Else. I do love it though, even if the opening is a bit much at times.
You smell wonderful.
Thanks!
Robin, you’re after my heart with the pictures this week ?I’m wearing Terracotta today, and liking it alot in 28 degree weather ❄?
Interesting. Never tried that in colder weather. All my assumptions being thrown out the window on seasonal scents. It started this summer with wearing Blanche Immortelle in heat instead of cold.
Usually, by January, I’m ready for spring scents, they perk me up.
Terracotta is wonderful in cold winter weather! (But I think it smells great anytime, so I’m a little biased.)
It did smell pretty awesome, but surprisingly, I think I got more longevity when it was hot out.
Chanel No. 19 today. I just wear one little spray to work and it lasts all day. Currently indulging the impulse to tuck my nose into my sweater and take a big whiff.
I don’t think I have anything by the renegade perfumers, so this week is a free for all!
You smell beautiful, so you definitely should not fight those impulses 😉
You smell wonderful, of course.
Hey friends, feeling kind of down this morning because we got some bad news at work about the project I’ve been pouring my soul into. It’s not (yet) devastating, but it’s still a bit of a blow.
I smell pretty spectacular in Copal Azur by Duchafour (I took a look at his list this morning and have piles of his scents, so it was quite easy). Isn’t it interesting how many facets of incense can be captured in various perfumes?
Since I am on a perfume no-buy but just can’t pass up good deals, I accidentally spent a lot of money on shoes over Black Friday/Cyber Monday. They’re all supposed to be very comfortable but stylish (they are all Eccos or Cole Haans). There’s only so long I can keep wearing Uggs to work, even if I am a Californian who works in an office with no dress code. I spent a lot more on shoes than I would have on perfumes 🙁 Hopefully I’ll get a lot of good use out of them at least.
Sorry about the bad news on your project. I hope it doesn’t get to devastating!
I too picked up a new pair of shoes over the weekend and I’m so happy with them. Such a great deal and the kind of shoes that are classics and will last a long time. Hope you’re enjoying her ‘accidental’ haul!
Nice! What kinds are they? I ordered mine online so I’m still waiting to enjoy them 🙂
J.Crew loafer, a modern take on the penny loafer. Got a pair in black.. fit is amazing, no pain at all in first few uses and already loving how they are breaking in.
They look lovely 🙂 good call!
I know you’ve had trouble with your feet, so enjoy those shoes! I hope they are comfy and just what you need. I am never in a good frame of mind when my feet hurt.
Thanks for your kind wishes! Yep, that’s why I find myself investing so much money in cute comfort. I hope they are comfy, too 🙂
Sorry about the bad news on your project. I spent 10 straight years in the middle of my career having every.single.project get cancelled. At 4 different companies yet! Kindof astounding to think how much I got paid to produce… nothing. Life in Silicon Valley. Nowadays, at my current employer, we crank out multiple chips a year… seems like my career has been deluge or drought.
Oh no 🙁 that sounds like a frustrating decade! I’m thrilled you’re on the deluge side now. I hope I get one of those periods in a month, and then another one in April, which are when two sets of deadlines come up!
Koyel, you smell absolutely amazing!
Thank you! 🙂
Sorry about your project- sounds so disappointing and frustrating!
I also took advantage of shoe sales, but for a much needed pair of waterproof snow boots. Boring and practical, lol.
And you do smell great! I was tempted at one point to hunt down a travel spray of CA, but turns out I loooove the opening but not the drydown, so decided against it in the end.
Ooooh. Snow boots aren’t boring! I saw some super cute ones online but resisted, since we, uh, don’t exactly get snow in my part of California. Also, the best thing is when you get thing you wanted to get anyway on superduper sale 🙂 It feels so fulfilling.
You smell great! I had a gift card & spent it on a nice quality pair of waterproof leather boots. In Canada, good waterproof boots are a must.
Wow, lots of waterproof shoes on here! Will you be going back to Canada this winter? I thought you would stay in SoCal!
Winter lasts for six months in Canada… I have to go back the first week of April when it will still be snowing. 🙂
Ahahaha oh dear, I see!
I’m sorry about your project. I know, this is just a job but I also usually can’t help feeling bad about what happens there.
Shoes are important! And I bet you have much more use-hours/days/years “in perfumes” than you currently have “in shoes” – so it was good rationing of resources 🙂
Oh I always internalize my work. My self worth is usually strongly tied to my ability to do my job 🙁 I don’t think that’s how I’m supposed to feel, but it’ll take years to get that out of me.
And I love your rationalization of spending money on shoes!
I’m sorry to hear you got bad news about your project. Hugs.
Thanks, KellyC <3 that's so kind of you!
That sounds so frustrating. I’m glad you found some great bargains – your feet are super important.
I guess the cute shoes will have to help me keep my mind off the project :-/ thanks! They are!
My sympathies on your project woes. I hope that things are NOT in the “severely messed up” category.
Mmm…not yet severe, and let us hope it never gets there. Thanks for your kind wishes!
Oh, no, that’s awful about your project. It’s terrible when things that matter so much and you’ve invested in go outside your control.
I love Ecco shoes and have quite a few–well made, cute colors, and good arch support. That’s fun you got some!
Thanks, Calypso <3 and yeah, Eccos are great, right?? They have these adorable 45 mm heels! I used to have these super low Nine West heels that I walked miles and miles and miles in with no discomfort. I never found them again after I wore holes in their soles, but hopefully, these will be the perfect replacements?!
But I do lovvvvvve your priorities!
Thanks, AngelaB <3
I’m joining Tiffanie in Avignon for a trip to the nursing home to see my mom.
You smell great, enjoy your visit <3
Hope you had a nice visit with your mom.
Avignon sounds perfect for your day and your visit.
I was again distracted from the community project by my desire to try the new Imitation by Amouage. This may have been a mistake, as it’s not quite my thing – the first hours are all about aldehydes on me. It’s complex enough to warrant another try, though.
Well, relatively new.
🙂
Sounds like something I might want to try.
It’s definitely worth trying, me and aldehydes simply have a complicated relationship.
Participating in the CP today in Noir Exquis, from Mr. Duchaufour. It is cold and clear outside, and I’m about to head to the gym for the dreaded Leg Day.
I’m sending up prayers and positive vibes for those of us who are worried about loved ones today. ❤️❤️
You smell lovely!
Thanks cazaubon!
Good luck with Leg Day!
Whew, got it all done!
Trying to fly under the radar with Bvlgari Omnia??
You smell wonderful and cosy, Omnia is discreet but long lasting.
I need to try that one. The descriptions sound like something I would like.
I think it’s right up your alley. I had a bottle when it first came out. It’s pretty awesome, imo.
KellyC, I’m happy to send you some if you’d like to give it a whirl. Hit me up at taiga101 in the land of yahooligans. ✌?
SOTD is Molton Brown Muddled Plum EdT. Which smells a whole lot like the shower gel, if a bit more musky. Plum, vanilla, woody, mild spices, musk. Not bad at all. I smell like Christmas.
Thanks for the description, Pixel. I want to try it. There are several Molton Brown scents I like very much and I own 3.
Dzing! today for work, which i like very much. Now smelling of a wild mix of perfumes, as i did some decanting for a split of L’Air de Rien and decanted some samples too…..
Sometimes decanting blend works and sometimes it doesn’t 🙂
What an interesting tea pot, Robin!
SotD is April Aromatics Calling All Angels. Wish I were on my way to that job interview I was supposed to have tomorrow. Oh well, I’m patient, I will get my moment of glory at some point… right?
Right you are, Lucas!
I really enjoy several of the AAs. I’m trying to remember if you’ve actually met Tanja Bochnig at one of the perfume shows.
Oh yes I did, we are actually friends with Tanja
Oh, good! I had guessed based on the quality of the perfume and the esthetic of the brand that she was probably a cool person, too.
Your moment will come!
Oooh, I love that scent. Just recently ordered my own bottle of it and can’t wait for it to arrive!
In Shalimar parfum de toilette, I needed it as the weather has been miserable, rain and quite cold. So glad I’m not working tomorrow.
You smell so perfect! I love the parfum de toilette!
Thank you Kelly, PDT is an awsome concentration, quite leathery in the middle, I find.

Another busy week at work, but at least it’s interesting! I have a sudden urge for MDCI Fêtes Persanes today, one of my very few impulse buys. Even then, I’d considered it overnight 🙂
I love Fêtes Persanes! You smell great.
Dropping by quickly. I could do a week of Bertrand Duchafour all to easily. Pichola yesterday, I Miss Violet today. I *hate* some of his perfumes and others are amongst my very favorites. Go figure.
Shouldn’t they do giving Tuesday before Black Friday send cyber Monday? Or is the guilt of the first two meant to solicit funds on Tuesday? We plan our giving so it’s all lost on me!
I think it’s designed to tap into the guilt over buying all that stuff on the weekend… but by Tuesday, everyone is broke, so I don’t know how well that works.
Exactly
Scent twins with tannins in Dzing! today, my most recent purchase, and cosy on this cold and miserable day.
This is so nice in the cold!
I’m wearing Bottega Vaneta because ElisaP. mentioned it yesterday and It started a craving. Work is kinda crappy and frustrating today so I am glad to be wafting such a pretty scent.
Of course, you smell great ? I almost wore it again today.
Hang on in there! You smell great!
Hang in there! Sorry work is crappy for you today.
Sorry to hear that your work day was frustrating and crappy. ??
You are wafting beautifully.
SOTD = NVC Trayee
Oh my gawd – everything but the kitchen sink and SPICY!
I will be team BD this week. I have zero zip zilch Mark Buxton. I have all the Geza Shoen OJs in travel spray size and samples of just about all of the Escentric Mokecules; however, I very much prefer BD’s work and will stick with him.
This morning, I exited the station with Farty guy from yesterday. I was prepared with my nose covered. He was wearing the same Big Bird yellow jacket and I made sure to look at his face so I know to not be in the same car if I can help it.
I looked at Consumer Reports to see which printer was recommended and drum roll please…there were more recommended than not which tells me that they’ve become homogenous and I should buy based on replacement ink profile (e.g. individual color toners are better than all in one cartridge since rate of use varies). My goal is to get a printer up and running by this weekend!
LOL on farty guy. 🙂 Good tactic.
Please report on your printer purchase, I could use a new one too. Would really like a laser printer but probably too $$$.
I adore Trayee.
We also need a printer so I’m curious which you get!
It’s amazing and kind of scary how much printer ink costs! Having said that, I wish that the laser printer Mr. Jalapeno has still worked. An unfixable paper jam put it out of commission years ago, and I still miss it.
FYI, I bought an HP cheap ($50) and did the per-month ink subscription. It’s been very good.
So, I think you are right… it’s really all about the ongoing ink cost.
Wow! I had been out of the printer loop since I’ve had mine for a while and never thought about having to replace it! I will check into the ink service.
Speaking of subscription…I saw this toothbrush with a brush head and battery replacement service every 3 months for the princely sum of $5 shipped, including international shipping!

As long as your new printer (when you get one!) doesn’t start farting, you’re golden! ??
🙂 🙂 🙂
You are too much ?
I could not get out if bed this am since I stayed up too late bringing on The Kominsky Method since someone mentioned it here recently. Good for a chuckle and not too intellectually taxing, which was a good break from my intellectual and emotionally challenging workday yesterday.
I went with Cuir de Lancome which was an easy, no-brainer for a rushed morning.
I often resort to fun and not too taxing after long work days. You smell lovely!
I started it too, but haven’t gotten very far yet!
I chose another Duchafour creation for Penhaligon’s today. Another day off work of lavish sprays, this time Ostara. I am really not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow and reigning in my perfume usage. Headed to Pike Place Market soon and then Snoqualmie Falls for the last day of my mom and grandma’s visit.
A person could spend a week exploring Pike Place Market and the streets right next to it. Lots of fun to be had there!
Yes, it’s a fun place, and even better is being here in a Tuesday afternoon in the tourist off-season!
Nice timing! ??
Like many others, this week’s theme is easy – this morning, I poured a whole vial of Niral all over myself (from the freebiemeet, me thinks). It’s lovely. I wish I had another vial, but there are plenty of other BD beauties in my drawer.
Off to the post office – this is the first time in months where I am not headed there because of perfume!
Day 2 in CdG, Kyoto. Love, love, love.
Very nice!
I get the B&BW coupons by email and as I was about to delete it, I saw a Hot Cocoa lotion. What? I was just in there 10 days ago and didn’t notice that. Ran right down yesterday and took advantage of the buy 3 get 3 free, got Hot Cocoa and some gingerbread spice one. Will use half of them as gifts.
So today it’s Hot Cocoa lotion layered under 4160 Tuesdays Over the Chocolate Shop. Yum!
And the chocolate fest has burned off, so I’ve moved on to Ummagumma. 🙂
Good grief, what a day! My dad will be visiting from Korea next week so I will be out of work half of the week. Everyone is panicking I’ll be gone, so I’ll be swamped this week.
Vanilla Flash again today because it was so good yesterday! I will attempt to be more on theme the rest of the week!
Hey, if you are going to have a crazy week, you ought to wear the perfume that makes you feel better! No need to add another stressor to your life.
I understand KellyC. I spent most of the day trying to handle three tasks at once. I hope tomorrow is better.
That’s so frustrating!
You smell fab. 🙂
Your theme is obviously “I smell amazing”. I’m sorry that your office can’t seem to function without you – you must be extremely good at your job.
It’s okay, at least it makes me feel needed!
SOTD = back in Dior’s Poison Girl EdT. The sample protested a little when I spritzed it this morning, but I did not finish it. Maybe tomorrow will do the trick? Anyway, there is something that reminds me of heliotrope in the far drydown of this… very nice!
Oh, forgot to mention that I did see your question from last night, Monica404. I have not tried that particular Hermessence yet. So many things to smell, and so little time! ⏰⏳
It’s been ages since I’ve tried any of the Poisons. I’ll have to try them when I get to Sephora or something.
Wearing L’Eau no. 5 today. My parents left yesterday, and I miss them so I’m wearing this riff on my mom’s signature No. 5.
Aww… that’s really sweet, plus you smell great!
You smell great! Missing family is hard. Hugs!
I’m very late tonight due to being quite busy today with preparations for going to Ann Arbor/U Mich tomorrow plus helping my mom pack one suitcase of clothes for Texas. I borrowed some of her YSL Paris to wear–really like that fragrance and might have to spring for a bottle. I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s posts today. Keep smelling good, y’all!
