It's Cyber Monday and Cake Day. Happy birthday Tina Turner! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm starting the week in Ormonde Jayne Ta'if.
Reminder: 11/30 will be Renegades Friday...wear a perfume by Mark Buxton, Bertrand Duchaufour or Geza Schoen, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
SotD = Eau de Guerlain
Wearing an olive green t-shirt and navy blue skinny chinos, smelling like the love child of a mint mojito and 4711.
Cake day!?!? I’m ON it! 😀
I am fresh out of cake!
Stop by my house later, I’ve got pie too! 😉
Pie!
Tina Turner..
Between boyfriends her “Better be Good to Me” song was my mantra. It should be life long mantra in fact!
I am still wearing Frangipani by L. Bermuda. Not Bermuda weather here..I am still lemming a full bottle. Can anyone talk me off or over the ledge 😉
I’ve been wanting to smell the Lili Bermuda scents for a long time, where do you buy yours from?
My philosophy is that succumbing to temptation is the best way to alleviate it.
HA! Love that line…
You have to take a trip to Bermuda or order a discovery sample set online.
Tina is a legend. What would we do without her!?!
I don’t know, she represents so much for music, art, getting out of undesirable relationships and rising above..best set of legs on a woman, ever..
That says it all!
I’m in Vol de Nuit extrait today, and wishing I had some cake. 🙂
You smell like heaven 😀
Smelling perfect.
You smell wonderful!
Today I’m finishing off a sample of Costes Red that came with a recent Beautyhabit order. It’s a lovely calming, airy incense with a bit of woodsy spice and transparent rosiness. Doubt I’ll buy any, but if a bottle fell into my lap, I’d be pleased!
I just got a bottle of Costes with the Beautyhabit coupon – I have the body oil too. I find it relaxing.
I keep hearing about this one, but haven’t tried it yet. Looks like it goes on the ever expanding ” to try ” list
Oh I bet the body oil is nice! Is the scent strong enough to use as a perfume oil?
Well, I wear it to yoga class, but honestly it’s a skin scent after an hour or two, so not really a substitute for the perfume, unless you’re looking for subtlety.
I liked the original Costes pretty well, in the same “if a bottle fell into my lap” sort of way.
Wearing Givenchy Amarige Mariage, my only Mark Buxton scent.
I need something warm and comforting today.
I wish I hadn’t got rid of my bottle of this, it was good.
I’m participating in the CP by going through the untouched Escentric Molecules discovery set that I received from a generous NSTer. First up is Escentric 01, which, when I first applied it smelled of pink peppercorns. It has devolved into a generic musky scent.
I like iso e super, but that is not an exciting scent.
Wearing Love: Don’t Be Shy from Kilian. I haven’t worn this in over a year since it was in storage but still like it
Memo Tiger’s Nest today. Got the puppy girl to eat a bit of her food this morning, but the tough love continues. We shall overcome.
Dear Puppy Girl,
Please eat for The Momma
Thanks
It worked! She just ate a 1 oz pellet of her raw lamb. So happy!
What’s you opinion of Tiger’s Nest? I have a sample and mean to try it before the year ends, but I am also curious what other NSters think of it.
I hope your puppy will like that healthier food soon. Maybe it’s just an acquired taste for her.
It smells a lot like Tauer L’Air du Désert Marocain on me. Perhaps with a bit more incense.
Thanks! Sounds pretty good.
Cannot relate. My doggie pal is a veritable garbage disposal — EVERYthing is devoured.
I have a cat (!) who’s pretty much like this 🙂 We lovingly call him “our furry ginger vacuum cleaner.”
hahah, our pup is a vacuum too. also lovingly called “chewbacca” for her chewing predisposition of any object
Rusty, a Hoover? Who would have thought?
You are lucky. We have the stereotypical finicky cars. Drives me nuts.
That’s amazing! I wish our cats were like that!
Ditto. ?
Wearing Smeraldo by Sylvanie Delacourte. Really getting the oakmoss, vetiver and hawthorn on my skin today
Smeraldo is a great scent!
I love Hawthorn – and puppies!?
Someone brought in a cake today at work and I had a sliver of it…I didn’t know it was cake day, I just thought she had leftover cake from Thanksgiving. Today I’m wearing Carthusia’s Fiori di Capri (my older bottle that I am trying to use up so I can start on the new one I purchased in Capri).
She probably did just have leftover cake from Thanksgiving, but cake is cake 🙂
And cake is always a Good Thing.
Wearing Traversée du Bosphore. A friend of mine thinks it smells like Dr. Pepper. Right now it reminds me of tamales.
Dr Pepper..I haven’t had a sip of that in a long long time…
Lemming soda now! Thanks Elisa!
And I’ll take the tamales.
I’m wearing L’Eau du Fleuriste and feeling snoozy – I get used to staying up late within the space of a few days!
It is a snoozy Monday here too!
Well you made a good perfume choice this morning even though you were tired.
OOoohh, Robin, you smell good.
Gosh, cake day…sounds great, but I need a serious carb detox or something after the past week. I need a salad in my life haha. Feeling super sluggish today.
I’m in Vanilla Flash today for no reason other than I like it. Happy Monday, friends.
Happy Monday, KellyC! I really should get a salad too.
I just made some potato leek soup, not a salad, but happy to share some with you 😉
Oh that sounds soooo good right now.
You smell good!
I just spent the weekend trying Vanilla Flash and trying to decide if I should get a bottle with the Black Friday coupon from Twisted Lily. I talked myself out of it for now but I still might go for it one day.
And I think you’re eating healthy by avoiding potentially contaminated greens.
Exactly! I just ate 1/3 of a Toblerone bar, for medicinal purposes.
I just had a brownie for the exact same reason.
Good morning…..it was a bit painful for the kids (and me!) to get started after a long holiday weekend! 🙂 Even the dog was slow to go out….
Kicking off the Christmas perfume season with Demeter Christmas Tree. The woodsy tree note is there, but there’s also a sweet, candy-like thing going on in the background…maybe sugarplums? Whatever it is, I like it! I also have the Christmas Tree atmosphere diffuser oil in the bathroom and enjoying that too….
Oh, I almost cried when I got out of bed this morning! I feel you! And you smell lovely- I actually smelled that on an acquaintance and it really is the lovely smell of a living room at Christmas- woodsy and sweet.
This morning was a hard one. I love long weekends, but how hard is it to get back to normal. Especially for kids.
Your scent sounds lovely 🙂

Gucci Guilty
Happy birthday to the beautiful Tina Turner! I love this picture 🙂
Isn’t that a great shot? Everybody looks so happy, although from other shots at that event (or whatever it was) it would seem they were just drunk 🙂
Or high ????
Or both!
Aww, i wish I didn’t know that :-/
Oooh this week’s CP will be easy; I love Duchafour. Is he really a renegade anymore though? I feel like he just helped redefine the new mainstream.
I’m wearing a hajusuuri amount of Rose Ikebana today (nine sprays), mostly because I found my sample in a tote bag I don’t use much, and half of it had tragically evaporated 🙁 no doubt aided by plane flights. I smell really good; it’s showing a sweeter, more amber-y side of itself today.
Back at the CA office for the first time in a couple weeks, and it feels GREAT! Indoor toilets, my own cubicle (which now feels vast and so private), SILENCE around me. I did have fun in our Boise site, but this feels like home. (Work-home. Home-home has two warm little kitties in it.)
Nine sprays? Channeling Deva, I say reek on, fumie! (Or was it something else similar? I can no longer remember…..)
Hehe. I do reek! Maybe giving myself nine sprays will make it last all day!
I think ‘renegade’ is a reference to Project Renegades created by Duchafour, Schoen and Buxton.
Aha! Thanks for explaining 🙂 I should have to give up my perfumista badge.
Me and you both then! 😀 Even though Robin wrote about Renegades back in 2016, I missed that and found out about Renegads only a couple of days ago by googling for this CP.
Yes! I don’t think the Project Renegades thing is that well known, and I have to say that while I did not try any of the 3, I don’t think of any of them as renegades at all and not sure they ever were.
!!!
Since half evaporated, were the remnants more concentrated?
Ooh, maybe! Perhaps that’s where the extra sweetness/amberyness comes from!
It’s been 3.5 h since I put it on and it still smells great, which is longer than my usual application of a Hermessence lasts, so that’s promising 🙂
Posting again to let you all know that in honor of Cake Day, I had half a piece of deeeeelicious lemon cake. I’m trying to be more conscious of when I am eating because I’m hungry and when I am eating because there is deeeeeelicious cake in front of me, which is why I’ve only had half of it, but watch out, world: if I feel even the slightest twinge of hunger in the next few hours, I will demolish the other half. Om nom nom.
Robin, that picture! I have it, I think in an old Creem magazine. It was a great surprise to see it today, thanks?. It’s a snow day here, and counting my blessings because it’s my day off. I’m snug at home wearing Casmir and hair dye. I had made a lame attempt at going grey. Not gonna happen! After lunch the kids and I will be decorating the Christmas tree. Fingers crossed for an early spring!???❄⛄?❤????
Oh, Casmir! You smell perfect for a snowy day!
It’s a no brainer for staying cozy.
⚪?? Creem magazine! And Circus ! Good times, lillyjo! You smell goooooooddd !
???✌⛄❄???
Don’t forget Hit Parader!
OMG, you two brought me back to the magazine rack at 7-11 in the Wayback Machine!
?????✌???
Then our job is done…???
I am with you on early spring! ??????. Enjoy the Christmas tree decoration activity and stay warm!
Thanks! Hey, in less than a month, we start gaining daylight ?
That hope is what is keeping me alive!!! ??☀️
Wishing for early Spring already?! You must have to endure some awful Winters. In places where we don’t get any we imagine snow is fun.
Oh gosh… sorry, but no, snow is not fun. Lol! Although, if I’m honest, winter sports are pretty popular here, so maybe it’s me that’s not fun? Nah….??❄?
You have no idea how grim and exasperating six months of winter is. It snowed from mid November through the third week of April in Montreal last year. Winter would be fun if it actually only lasted three months.
I grew up in the East Coast and now live in the Bay Area. I miss snow not at ALL.
Even in the Bay Area, I can’t wait for spring. Most things are dead and dreary. It’s too cold for me to go swimming outdoors nowadays, and it’s always dark when I leave work. The only good thing about winter is the food (mostly the persimmons!).
Creem magazine!!! Blast from the past.
Awesome, right!? I’m hoping CM8 will throw in a link to a cover.
P.S. Keith Richards birthday… dec 18.. just sayin
If I win lotto I will buy this for you
https://www.amazon.com/Creem-Magazine-January-Keith-Richards/dp/B002F0AXC8
https://www.pinterest.com/ephemeraforever/creem-magazines-from-the-1970s-and-1980s/
I knew you would come through! I believe I have that Keith cover, but not the whole magazine. I have so much odds and ends rock memorabilia. I need to go look now…
NOWWWWWWW I remember! thanks cm8!
Happy to hear that you are at home, making the best of your snow day, lillyjo!
Hello guys!
1) I am sure Robin has a wrap up of all the fragrance deals that can be had on this, Late Capitalism’s holiday of choice; however, I would like to point you towards Zullily for some really good deals on mass market/department scents. There is an offer of to pay over time with 3 payments if your credit card is protesting right now.
2) SOTD: Karma by LUSH. Perfect for a foggy, rainy day!
3) Easy dessert idea I discovered almost by accident: Mix prepackaged eggnog with rum- plenty of it. Then run through an ice cream maker. You get a delicious and frosty treat that really refreshes in over heated winter parties or after very heavy holiday meals.
Your eggnog slushy made me think of my mother-in-law last year….I had bought a Costco (Kirkland) fruit cake, which she usually really enjoys. But for some reason it wasn’t boozy enough for her liking. So she took a bottle of Myer’s dark rum and DOUSED that poor cake! Soaked it! It was downright flammable….and then I think she had 2 slices! HA HA HA 🙂
That cake was just an excuse….
So true! She makes an eggnog punch that can knock you out! LOL I can’t handle more than a few sips…. 🙂
I do not!! There is so little difference now between the Cyber Monday and the Black Friday in terms of online deals that I was not going to do another post. Anybody can add to Friday’s still if they like!
Ah okay! Thank you! I have been shopping for stuff for my sis, so thought people should be aware.
I’m wearing ELDO Rien, in an attempt (the 10th attempt) to like it, because it’s supposed to be good and incensy. And as much as i love incense, i can’t stand this one on me. And it lasts forever too .
Black Friday discovery : Pat McGrath make up lines at Sephora. By far the best colors and textures I’ve ever tried.
I think Rien is such an outspoken scent that you either really like it, or you don’t at all. I’m a massive fan, but I can totally understand that it’s a bit of a nuisance if you don’t as it lasts and lasts and lasts…
Have you tried Armani Bois d’Encens?
I think it’s the aldehydes or the animal note, there’s something “under” that incense that clogs the incense for me.
I have not tried the Armani, noting it down. Thank you for the tip.
I like incense but did not like Rien either.
I love Rien but I think of it more as a weird leather than an incense fragrance.
EldO Rien was majorly stanky on me. It grew until it sucked all the air out of the room and I had to scrub. And I love incense.
my feelings exactly.
Jasmine et cigarettes from ELDO though is a great smoky one.
Rien was weird but good on me. I have to be in the mood for a whiff of gasoline in order to wear it, though.
Hermessence Cuir d’Ange has a gasoline note on me 🙂 have you tried it?
Forgot all about the D’s for today. Wearing Bigarade concentrée by Jean-Claude Elléna which is one of those scents that sneak into your affections. It’s not spectacular but immensely likeable without being at all dull. Had a dental appointment after a bit of one of my teeth broke off during the weekend. All went well but I do feel a little numb.
You smell great Robin! I seem to remember that Schoen did all of the early OJ’s.
Yes he did. I have never added them to his list because I have never seen any sort of “official” list of exactly which ones he did, but I understand he did all the early ones, at least through Ta’if and possibly beyond.
Ooh, that does expand my choices for the week… although as luck would have it a lovely NSTer sent me Renegades samples in a recent package!
Speaking of lemmable things, should you be searching for a very particular comb, here is a panoply of combs:
https://www.buly1803.com/en/51-combs?id_category=51&n=56
Aren’t those lovely??
I did “step up” to a $12 Kent comb and I’m so happy with it that I did not look further into the world of luxury combs — and I think I will stop now 🙂
Love the CP this week! I can wear Commes des Garcons every day. Today I’m starting with the original edp which was my first niche bottle purchase. Still great, and perfect for our snowy, windy day.
Yay!
In the last drops of my sample of CdG Ouazazate for the CP. Thunk! I will miss it badly. It has been on my endless full bottle shopping list forever. Someday….
Seems like that sample lasted you a long time. A little must go a long way?
No, in fact it is very fleeting. It was good only for 2 wears. I have gone thru several samples and small decants of Ouarzazate, but I need to spray a decent amount to truly enjoy it. That is what I would love to get a full bottle later on.
Keep on thunkin’ 🙂
I will! ?
Since Ouarzazate has been in heavy rotation in your decant rebuys, it sounds like getting a bottle would be a smart move!
I feel the same. I end up paying more for decants and samples than if I get a full bottle.
It also sounds like it is a bottle that would be well-loved and used. ?
You smelled great while it lasted! That was my rationale for getting a bottle + I use about 6 sprays at a time! I bought it last year and have already used probably half of it, compared to some with barely a dent.
I agree! It is full bottle worthy and I am sure it will use it a lot. I think I will get it soon.
Hi NST, today I’m in California Clementine by Atelier, and while I’ve kind of liked it in the past, today it is so disappointing! It went all screechy about 2-3 hours into wearing it. Yuck.
it’s a very fussy fragrance – and citrus should be easy towear imho. i much prefered the bergamot one from Atelier.
Hi everyone.. I’ve been absent the last few days, both perfume wise and online. We are in sunny Florida and loving it right now. Sorry there’s snow and cold up North.
I’m wearing about 8 sprays of L’Atessa today. I took the day off from golf “caddy” duties as I had to wait for an appliance repair guy to look at our fridge. Compressor is gone so we have to get a new one. Boo-hiss!! That takes the fun out of Cyber Monday shopping!
You smell great! L’Attesa is one of the fragrances I’d wisper about to Santa hoping he’d get me some 😉
Enjoy the sunshine ??
It’s still drizzly and grey, the wettest November for 100 years and our basement room is saturated with sodden carpet. Stinky ! We will probably have to pull it up. But another record over at the Taiaroa Head albatross colony, 51 eggs, about 15 more than the previous high. The birds breed every second year, and eggs hatch in mid-January. The babies are huge, I think about 2kg. They dot their hillside and you can see them from across the harbour, they look like big mushrooms from a distance. L’artisan Al Ouhd for the CP.
Great news about the albatross colony! I know the open ocean sailors enjoy their company vey much.
Last year only 13 of the 35 eggs survived and hatched. I think it got too hot for them. I never grow tired of watching the adults soaring above the sea. They are so much bigger than you think they are, their wings just go on and on, completely breath taking
Oh no on having wet carpet!!! That is a horrible smell. Hopefully no wet drywall or plaster in your house from all that wet.
Ah, I only see now that it’s a Duchaufour week – I’m a bit of a fangirl, so happy to wear his stuff for days. Then again, I also like most of Ormonde Jayne fragrances, at least the early ones…
Anyway, today I’m in Moroccan Leather by Memo, which I like. To me it’s a green leather with iris, vetiver and spices. Too expensive, though.
Hello everyone,
feeling frustrated today as my job interview got cancelled last minute. I got the information that their high management decided to put on hold all ongoing recruitments…
Hope it’s just a matter of time and I’ll be able to have my 2nd interview in the end.
Wearing Clive Christian XXI Art Deco Cypress today with a big test of Hiram Green Hyde on top of my right hand – a review is in the making
I would chalk it up to year end pressures. Do keep in touch with them.
The end of year financial annual hold! So sorry Lucasi, hoping you will not be on hold too long!
Hopefully it’s just a temporary delay. And who knows – maybe in the meantime something even better will turn up.
Sorry to hear that, hopefully it’s just temporary.
Looking forward to your Hyde review.
Sorry the interview got cancelled. i hope its just a delay!
Sorry to hear about the interview cancellation. Fingers crossed that it is a minor setback.
In MH Fleur Oriental, the name bothers me as Fleur being feminine it should be orientale, as a French native speaker I find it appaling.
I like the scent though, I don’t have many Miller Harris, 3 in all, but the ones I have I really enjoy.
Franglish!
🙂
SOTD = Chanel No.19 EDP
…because I love it so.
My printer is on the fritz. It is out of warranty and while the support site was helpful, a “fix” that requires removing parts, heating water and dunking said parts in and doing all the above in 30 minutes scares the bejesus out of me. I may stop by Best Buy this week because I need a printer!
Commuting Woes No. 615 and 616:
– guy with lots of bags and taking 2 seats. A woman asked to sit and he barely moved the bag and put it in between the 2 of them, invading her space and actually had the bag in HER lap (he had nothing on his lap). He ignored the request to move the bag so the woman got up.
– walking up a steep incline on the way out of a station, the guy in front of me let out the longest loudest fart in commuting history. Thank God I was on an exhale and quickly walked past him to be upwind.
Welcome to Monday.
I’m with you on Best Buy over dunking parts! And totally laughed out loud at the last woe?
I kept printing a test sheet so much so that my photo ink is now LOW! Grrrrr.
Omg that was so funny about the fart guy. The other guy was just a boor, what is wrong with people?
I can either laugh or cry and it is definitely healthier to laugh. But the first guy was just a plain a55hole.
Oh my gawd! Too, too funny! One time when I was working ICU, a fellow nurse asked for help turning and cleaning her intubated, sedated, sumo- wrestler look alike patient. All five of us were on his left side, pulling him over on that side while said nurse was on the right (butt) side to clean him as we held him over. Well, I guess because of his weight and the downward pressure, he couldn’t pass gas until we turned him. And then it was like the never ending explosive fart heard around the world. It almost blew my poor fellow nurse out the window! Unlucky for her, she had her face right in the thick of things and got it full blast in the face! We laughed so hard, I’m pretty sure we all wet our pants. Ain’t life grand?
Omg, stop!!???
I could go on for DAYS…! But, I’ll spare all the readers with delicate sensibilities. Who started this topic, anyway…??
Oy. You win. Yuck!
Well, I wasn’t out to win, but farts are funny and join us all together in our digestive similarities. We are all one big, happy, farting family ?
Oh My Woman- that tops my Monday by far. ( I spent all day going back & forth to DMV in this horrid rain multiple times for a simple license renewal- new picture & updgrade the new ‘REAL ID’ license – supposedly mandatory in about a year anyway)
Deepest commiserations to you. I am still left speechless at the inconsideration of others – even after all these years. And Mondays, post holidays, need no additional assistance in being miserable!!
I wish you a lovely quiet perfect evening.
Thank you, AngelaB. I got lucky this year by being able to renew without having a new picture taken.
Sorry, but I had to laugh about everyone’s Fart Guy stories! The other stuff isn’t nearly as amusing.
I felt like Koyel’s 8-graders mentioning the fart situation, but there you have it ??
Are you sure you don’t want to order a printer today? Cyber Monday at Amazon has a lot of offers (with free delivery in the next 2-3 days). Best Buy online might have them too.
I’m going to check Consumer Reports first but ultimately, a printer purchase is one where I need to touch and feel the item before buying – maybe I need to apply the same principles to perfume purchases as well ?
I’m wearing Shalimar Mexique this morning. The garage is looking a bit tidier after I put together my new tool chest, although I seem to have put the wheel that only rolls from side to side in the wrong place. That’s okay, because I don’t plan on moving it much. All the leaves finally fell off my huge maple tree so it’s gutter cleaning time, and the hummingbirds are so hungry they have drunk half the feeder in a week’s time. It looks like winter is on the way.
Do the hummingbirds stay all winter. I guess they must given it’s almost December.
Lucky you Kanuka. Ours leave about the autumnal solstice for warmer climates, always a sad day for me. Enjoy them for the rest of us.
Oregon has eight or nine hummingbird species but only one stays in winter, the Anna’s hummingbird. I have two pairs that use my feeder–they are territorial so sometimes there are little midair skirmishes if two approach the feeder at the same time.
I could do the project for a week, but was craving Bottega Veneta today so that’s what I’m wearing. I think it would be a challenge to NOT have at least one of those 3 guys perfumes!
You smell great! I keep rechecking, but it looks like I only have one perfume between all 3 of them!
Thanks! Well, that’s at least one…
I know! I have a ton.
?
I have none..looked at the NST list three times already.
BV is gorgeous…wore some to bed last night.
Not a single sample even?? You gotta, lol!
It is and I do wear it pre-bed too sometimes.
Maybe CM8 has THUNKED them already??
Oh, right. That’s a definite possibility!
I had one of the Essentric Molecules in sample format and I thunked it-LOL! But that was it!
I’m all in on the CP today wearing 10(!!!) sprays of Amaranthine. I’m taking full advantage of being off work and not having my boyfriend around to gas out because he did go back to work today. Leaving to pick up my mom and take her to one of my favorite restaurants for brunch. It’s the same restaurant where I had a lunch of fried chicken, collard greens, and mac and cheese a couple weeks ago. Then I might take her to my favorite Goodwill to shop. Oh, and the Chihuly Museum and Space Needle weren’t too crowded yesterday. The Chihuly Museum was wonderful, but the Space Needle gave me a little vertigo because it rotates and it’s slanted. At least I can say I’ve been up there now.
Oh wow, I’d love to hang out with you today and catch that Amaranthine wafting all around.
Lucky you, having enough Amaranthine to spray!! It is so gorgeous!
One advantage of out-of-town guests is doing all the things you wouldn’t do otherwise. There are places here I’m embarrassed to say I’ve never been.
Your Space Needle sounds like my experience staying at the Luxor in Las Vegas- the elevators made me so queasy!
Vahina, by Sylvaine Delacourte. Seems to be my favorite of the discovery set so far.
What a dreary day here.
Isn’t it? I got soaked by a puddle drive-by ?
UGH!!! That sucks.
Second that!
And I swear some drivers do it on purpose! I hope you got dry enough to not squish around all day.
It felt like it! I wasn’t even that close to the curb. But 34th way east has crappy, pot-holed roads (as do many streets for that matter). It was near the end of my day at least.
NYU day? I almost got nailed by a speeding driver going through a puddle in midtown.
Today I wore Dark horse by Dame.
Very busy at work.
I tried the new Serge Lutens last weekend, Le participe passé.
Not bad, not bad at all.
It smells like a big spice market. A bit linear though.
Husband’s first reaction was “Wow i want a bottle”. But later on he felt it might feel a bit too foody.
And I think I agree. There were some moments when I felt like “is someone preparing a curry”, so maybe not that appropriate for some work situations…? 🙂
..unless you work in a kitchen 🙂 or if you do not mind people associatiing you with yummy spicy food haha.
To me it smells like a mash-up of several previous Lutens, including Arabie.
I agree. I am not familiar with Arabie, but i got a hint of Fille en aiguilles. It sure feels like oldskool SL!
I find it more tame and calm, less sweet, more meditative, than Arabie.
I had the exact same reaction. It was a fb blind buy and I had to return it sadly. I’ll have to look but I believe it’s the immortelle. There are others to splurge on.
I just tried it this evening. It didn’t work for me either but immortelle rarely does. But immortelle-curry… Just no…
Jicky ExP for two doctors appointments in the morning, first a phoniatrist. My voice is always hoarse, so now going to have logopedic therapy. Then a check of my veins, but luckily no thrombosis….
I just have Two perfumes for the CP, so will go to look for them in my decants
I have a friend with that problem, though I’ve never heard of that medical specialty. One of those times when Classical Greek comes in handy!
I’m wearing a bit of Chanel Paris-Venise les eaux (or whatever) from a spritz while in Nordies. Meh. No splurge for me on perfume. Nothing too interesting. I need to be wowed to buy a bottle these days. Maybe I have become a grumpy, dissatisfied perfumista?
I did, however, splurge on a Pat McGrath Labs Lust Gloss (seriously? Why is everything about sex?) in Aphrodisiac, which is a nude pinky-peach. I usually like bolder colors, but this is just gorgeous, goes with warm or cool tone makeup, and is incredibly comfortable to wear. Feels more like a lip treatment. Me likey! ?
Pat McGrath makes great stuff. Cheezy names but beautiful makeup!
I was SO tempted by the outrageously expensive eye shadow palettes! If she sold single pan shadows, I would definitely pick some up. But I can NOT justify a palette when I rarely wear eye shadow at all. So pretty though…?
I understand very well, have debated the purchase with myself for months… until I got as a gift a smaller palette ( the 6 shades one) . it really has surprisingly versatile nuance. I rarely wear eyeshadow too but this one may just convince me, it has superb texture. The eye pencils are great too, highly recommending them even for minimalists!
I purchased make up as well this weekend, an Urban Decay eye pencil in black.
Congrats on your lip gloss purchase, it sounds great!
I read so many positive reviews about that brand (PathMcGrath), but no points of sale in my country (..though ordering online at Net a porter is an option….)
A black eye pencil is like the the perfect LBD- it goes anywhere and with anything. Smart purchase!
The Chanel Paris-Venise was a “Meh” for me as well. So you have company in grumpiness!
Happy to have another curmudgeon for company! ?
I have that lip gloss, and love it too! She just came out with lip balms and they are quite nice… ?
Wearing LAP Tea for Two. It’s a very cold day. I’m bundled up even at work. Still, I get whiffs of perfume now and then and smile.
You smell great!
Well, I’m not on theme for perfume today (L’Occitane Eau de Miel), I will be having some cake tonight! I made this last night for my father-in-law’s birthday – it’s SO easy and I bet you have all the ingredients in your house right now! I snuck a few pieces to keep at home before sending him with the rest of the cake.

Love that one. Comforting cute scent
Hope your FIL’s B-day was a good one! ?
SOTD is Zoologist Moth. Its honeyed warmth stood me in good stead on this snowy morning. I’m a bit crazy from trying to get Mom organized for coming to Texas soon for five months with me. Plus I’m going to Ann Arbor on Weds to give three talks and trying to polish all three and prepare handouts. It’ll be fun once it’s under way but I’m losing sleep over it all now.
Ugh, you sound so horribly busy with everything. My poor brother is in a similar situation.
What are your talks about? Are they public?
All are on philosophy topics, and are public but are, I’m afraid, kind of narrow or specialised…. One is on portraits in the medium of what I call “stilled film” such as Andy Warhol’s Screen Tests. The other two are on Aristotle.
Very interesting – and I am super impressed that you are managing three talks in one visit. I work on media and materiality myself, so I would be interested in your stilled film talk. I will try to attend 🙂 (I am assuming these talks are at UM).
Hang in there Calypso!
Commando. I will get with the program tomorrow!
A day off is a good thing now and again 🙂
Rain here again for about the bajillionth time this year. And another flood advisory for the low areas. Playing plenty of Dio to make up for the yucky weather. ??☔
SOTD = Dior Poison Girl EdT, from the sample stash. I *might* be close to thunking this one! Since the sample is in an opaque sprayer, I am making my best guess on this. Plenty of things to choose from for the CP, but so far this had been a rather moody week, so emotion might dictate what I’m wearing, scent-wise.
It has been awfully rainy for you. I think perfume smells best when it matches your mood, it feels more intimate. And, yes to DIO!
Seriously gray and yuck.
SOTD was Black Jade.
My sample order arrived so now I am wearing several. I’m probably dead wrong but does anyone notice a similarity between Kismet and D600?
You smell wonderful, Petunia!
Thanks dear and so do you!
Is D600 also by Lubin? I wore Black Jade over Thanksgiving and really enjoyed it. Thanks for introducing me to that one!
I’m so glad you like Black Jade. D600 is by Carner Barcelona. I’m just sensing a similarity but unfortunately, my sample of D600 is long gone so I can’t compare. ?
I felt like Encre Noir today so that’s what I did – stole it from the hubby, although it was something I gifted him, so not really stealing.
I gave it to my husband too. I never borrow it though because I am allergic to vetiver. It makes me sneeze.
