Happy Black Friday / Buy Nothing Day! Our community project for today: pick your Black Friday poison...wear the last fragrance you bought, wear a cheap thrill, or wear a fragrance you love but refuse to buy in a full size because it's too expensive.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in one of the last fragrances I bought, Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille.
Reminder: 11/30 will be Renegades Friday...wear a perfume by Mark Buxton, Bertrand Duchaufour or Geza Schoen, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Tiffany color block piggy bank is $125.
Paprika Brasil
I thought it was paprika basil, and when I googled, I got Paprika Basil Chicken, lol.?
Sounds good, I may have to google that recipe!!
I clicked on the recipe, and it does look good!
LOL! I will take some of that chicken too!!!
You smell gorgeous! I hope some day a full bottle falls on our laps!
😉
I just sent her my unloved bottle. 🙂
That was so nice of you! I am sure she will enjoy it greatly! ?
MFK Baccarat Rouge 540, extrait, from a decant. Just because I’m in the mood for it. TGIF
Baccarat Rouge 540 is a beauty! You smell awesome!
Ooh, I love that one. Wish I had my sample of it with me.
I would love to know what it is like.
You smell great!
BR 540 is delicious!
I haven’t tried the extrait, but I rather like the EdP. Is there a big difference between the two?
Vanille Insensee, which was my last purchase. $80 for 100mls, which I felt was a pretty good deal. I just made my daughter a decant yesterday to take back to school with her.
No Black Friday shopping for me. I hate crowds. Instead we will go get our Christmas tree. We usually get it the first weekend of December, but since the bigs are home this weekend, we will get it early. There was some discussion at the dinner table yesterday, and the men wanted to just get one from WF, but the girls voted on the tree farm, so off to the tree farm it is. This has been a family tradition since my oldest (now 22) was in a baby bjorn. I thought they may have tired of the tradition, but I’m glad I’m not the only one who enjoys it.
Stay safe out there all of you brave enough to face the shopping crowds!
My husband and my son usually do the tree farm, and hope they will this year too, but probably not until next weekend. Have fun with your bigs!
That sounds really fun. Have a great time!
Your VI was an amazing deal and I am so glad you are still enjoying it! That one always reminds me of my middle Marzipan because it is one of her favorites!
Hope you and your husband are feeling better today Robin!
In Chopard Casmir, a great cheap thrill that I rescued from the very back of my perfume cabinet thanks to Lillyjo and other Nsters talking about it recently. I have not worn it in ages and it is always nice to reunite with an such a good forgotten friend.
I am not tempted this year to any Black Friday offers, but I will stop by Lush later, since I am leaving work early today and get the Rose Jam shower gel and the body spray that I had planned for many weeks in advance. I am not expecting any more fragrance purchases for the rest of the year and I feel good about it.
Happy Friday everyone!
Ooh, my #2 favorite! You smell great!
Thank you! 🙂
What is your #1 favorite?
Obsession?, circa 1987.
I fully agree with you! Vintage Obsession is a huge favorite of mine and it keeps a very special place in my heart.
I love vintage Obsession too, I’ve been wearing it often lately 🙂
We are in recovery, thanks!
Smellin awesome PL67!
Thank you Lillyjo!
I’m new to Chopard Casmir and it was thanks to lillyjo as well. You smell cozy!
Thank you Hajusuuri! Casmir is indeed a nice and comfy perfume.
Casmir is gorgeous!!!! Middle Marzipan is taking our bottle back to university with her.
I am sure she will enjoy it a lot!
Casmir is a great scent for fall and winter weather. Nice timing in finding your bottle! ?
It is very comfy for the cold season. I was lucky to be able to retrieve it! ?
I will wear Gris Montaigne today – it fits the “refuse to buy in full size because it’s too expensive” category nicely. And this CP reminded me to go order another decant of GM since the one I have been slowly draining (from a swap with the lovely Laura, iirc) is nearing empty.
I have so many in that category!
Wearing Petits Papiers because Robing reminded me of it yesterday.
Doesn’t fit into the CP, but today is my birthday, so I don’t care.
Have a great day
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Hannahmom! Enjoy your day!
Have a wonderful day!
Happy Birthday hannahmom!?
Happy birthday, hannahmom!
Yay, hope it is a great birthday hannahmom!
Happy Birthday, hannah mom! It’s your day so wear what you please! Though, I’m sure you do that every day ?
Happy birthday! I hope you enjoy it!
Happy Birthday! Have a healthy, happy and peaceful year.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Brthday!
Many happy returns.
Happy Birthday!?
Happy birthday!!
Have a happy and very healthy year!
Happy birthday, hannahmom!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday; you are amazing!
Happy birthday!
Have a lovely birthday! Hope the dogs got you something nice.
Happy birthday!
Happy Scented Birthday, hannahmom! ???
Happy Birthday! Wishing you a wonderful year ahead, and keep celebrating all weekend!
Happy Birthday!
Keeping with the “love but refuse to buy a full bottle because it’s too expensive” category, I am wearing Roja Parfums A Goodnight Kiss. Considering that a FB is $1750, I think it is safe to say I will never buy a FB of this. In fact, I would not want a 100 ml bottle of extrait of any scent at any price. I had decided to completely ignore this line, but then I found myself in NM, and they had testers of the Roja Parums on display, so I tried a few. I couldn’t stop sniffing this one. Long story short, I was glad to find that they have the 7.5 ml Discovery Atomizers.
Wow, I had no idea they were so much money!
Most of them aren’t quite that bad. The majority of the Roja Parfums come in 50 ml size for around $300 for EdP or $500 for parfum, which is still pricey, but I have paid ~$300 before for something I really wanted. Several Guerlain scents–Vol de Nuit extrait, Apres l’Ondee extrait, Vega, and Attrape-Coeur were all in that price range. I don’t regret any of them. To get the Discovery Atomizer I bought it from the Roja website. NM seems to only have the 50 ml and 100 ml bottles.
I ended up with a 100 ml bottle of RD Unspoken extrait de parfum by accident several years ago. My boss went on a business trip to London and went to Harrods to get it at my request. I asked for the edp, but when the sales person asked him if he wanted the edp or perfume, he didn’t understand and just said perfume. To him everything is « perfume ». When he got home and gave me the box I nearly fainted, knowing how expensive it was. He apologized for the mistake and only charged me the edp price, covering the rest as a gift. I never asked him to bring me anything back again.
OMG! Nice of your boss to volunteer as a perfume mule, but that sounds mortifying.
It was!
Actively avoiding Black Friday, and I guess the poll, since I’m wearing Black Orchid. I was gifted the 100ml a few years ago. I love it!
Stay safe if you’re shopping!
I love Black Orchid and it’s one of the very few perfumes I know of that hasn’t changed since it first came out. You smell great!
My SOTD is Areej le Dore Indolis. This stuff is amazing but at $310 for 50 ml is just kind of too pricey for me to spring for. However, since this has just sent me to the Luckyscent page for more information I’ve learned they have a Discovery set for $45 with some other scents of theirs and this might just be my big Black Friday purchase. Trying to decide whether to go brave the Wal-Mart crowds today to buy my mom a new cell phone since she has lost hers. Might go and inspect the parking lot to see how bad it looks before deciding. Robin, I hope you’re feeling better.
Good luck if you do go today. I love discovery sets!
I got the AlD sample set from Luckyscent recently and am really enjoying it. They are all very different, and two of them are my favorite ALDs so far.
It’s also worth noting that these are a bit less expensive than earlier ones, and I actually think they are better compositions.
I ordered it! Which two are your favorites?
I love Koh-i-Noor and Baikal Gris. The others are worth smelling, too. I look forward to your perspectives!
I’m going with Too Expensive to Buy with Vilhem’s Dear Polly. It is just right for certain days… and maybe someday I’ll get a mini, but certainly not a FB!
I really like that one too. Plus: cool name.?
Oh I love that one! Agreed on the FB question, way too expensive.
I had intended to wear Mohur extrait de parfum which I would love a full bottle of, but ended up with another day in L’heure bleue. I could have done a great deal worse 🙂
Good to hear that you are on the mend Robin!
That is a great perfume for late autumn.
Glad to hear that you and your husband are feeling better today, Robin.
I am wearing Sweet Redemption today, rather unexpectedly. I guess I could put it in “Too expensive” category. 😉
Expensive but seriously beautiful and the refill is not a bad deal at all!
Wearing the last of my Dusita Erawan sample, which I’d buy if it were $100 cheaper. I recommend to anyone who likes grassy, hay scents. There’s also a subtle, earthy cacao note, and the base is subtly sweet. Really nice.
I really wanted to participate in Buy Nothing Friday but temptation is everywhere!! ? ? Mostly I want to take advantage of the discount from a place that carries Blackbird Incense in the old packaging. It’s already $5 cheaper and with the extra 35% off and free shipping, I’m hopeless…
(My new favorite is Muru, which is a beautiful, subtle, woody vetiver. My husband even really likes it.)
Back to work today!
Elisa P, I’m struggling with temptation today too. A lipcare set I’ve been coveting is both discounted and has free shipping – but today only!
I guess the way I look at it is, if I’m going to buy it (in my case “replace when gone”) another time anyway when it’s not discounted, might as well get it now!
But, the struggle is real, holyneroli!
Lips do need to be cared for…. ?
Ok, you’ve got to share your source for the old packaging of Blackbird incense on sale. I will then go browse and try to resist.
Ha! Good luck. It’s the bodhi tree website. Wasn’t intentionally vague, just not one we mention here. And I think you’re the only other Blackbird Incense fan ?
Thanks! And I think you’re right.
And I hope your boyfriend’s procedure went well. How’s he doing?
He’s doing well, taking a couple antibiotics for 8 more days. He got out of the hospital around 8 Wed night. He’s in better spirits now and has a little more energy. I’m kinda in a funk as I’m mentally and physically exhausted and my mom and grandma are here visiting, and my mom and aunt (who lives here) take a lot of energy for me to be around. I’ve got to try and snap out of it though or it will be a really long 5 days.
Hang in there!
Glad he’s home and doing a little better! Yeah, that sounds hard. I hope you get some time to yourself to recover your energy.
I’m wearing the first spritzes of my new bottle of Brooklyn by Gallivant. I ordered the sample pack from Twisted Lily and the $20 off coupon was there just when I needed some retail therapy. It’s cheerful and casual and feels good to wear.
Thanks for the good wishes for my husband yesterday. He was discharged last night, and is at home resting comfortably. My only plan today is to pamper him.
Did you also get a good free sample with your Twisted Lily order? I love that store; people who work there are the best!
My last full bottle purchase was my custom DSH so I’m in Slinky Carnation edp today
oOOOOh! Sounds fab!
In Encre Noire À L’Extrême which was my most recent purchase, heavily discounted at that. Good stuff.
BoE for me today. Just spritzed the back of my neck and the doggo is behind me on the bed feverishly rubbing her chest against my neck. I think she likes it.
Hope everyone is digesting Thanksgiving well and had a lovely day with friends and family. For all you brave Black Friday shoppers, good luck and go get ‘em!
I was tempted by the SB 40% off full size bottles, but couldn’t get the discount to apply, so patient person that I am with electronic issues, I said fogedaboudit. So. Money saved!
I used the code ‘Wonderful’ and just wrote it in at the final checkout stage. Maybe try that if Bonanza isn’t working?
I’m working today, and feel very glamorous in my last full bottle purchase. No.5 Red bottle. I reorganized my shelf for it last night, and oh my gosh, it’s so pretty. Wish I could find that shade in an affordable lipstick. We have some sun today, then back to winter tomorrow. ?⛄
Yay! You finally opened the red bottle! Happy for you! Enjoy it!
Good for you! Lipstick Queen might have a match?
So tempted to get the No. 5 red bottle!
You opened the Red Bottle and are enjoying it!!! Whoo hoo! ??
I have a question, NSTers! A friend has invited me to introduce some of his friends and family to perfume. I want to present a sampling of iconic and cult fragrances. For example, I’m thinking of Knize Ten for leather and Bulgari Black as a cult fragrance.
What else would YOU include?
Some of the classics, such as Shalimar, Tabac Blond, etc.
Shalimar would be great — such an icon, but they may not have sniffed it yet.
I think I would have to divide the classics/cults into some sort of chronological order to provide a context and framework before selecting the perfumes. So, for classics: pre-30s I would focus on Guerlain and Chanel, 1940s-50s maybe the Diors, 1960-70s maybe some YSLs like Rive Gauche and Opium, 1980-90s Calvin Kleins and Comme des garcons, 2000s Jo Malones, L’artisan and Hermes. Then I’d just weave the ‘cults’ in to that depending on what you have, but include an oud for recent styles, a Tom Ford, Amouage, Le Labo, a natural perfumer, Tauer, Byredo, Malle, and one or two ‘ disruptive’ scents like Bulgari Black or a cheapie classic.
And Serge Lutens
Great ideas, Kanuka! I was kind of forgetting Hermes, which would be a mistake.
Plus Angel or Lolita Lempicka.
Speaking of icons!
Prada Infusion d’Iris
You’re right, there is nothing else like it!
I did this once (it was so fun! I should do it again). I think I’d do something like
Florals: 24 Faubourg, No. 5, Fracas
Chypres: Chinatown, Mitsouko, Caleche, Nightingale
Leathers: Jolie Madame, Bel Ami, Cuir de Russie
Weird: Dzing!, Black, Sel Marin, Bat, Jasmin & Cig
Woods: Bois des Iles, Ormonde Woman, 10 Corso Como
Gourmand: Omnia, Ore, Mures et Musc
Green: No. 19, Cabochard, Magie Noire, Silences
Incense: Silver Factory, Passage d’Enfer, Black Cashmere
Great list — so many great perfumes!
If you have some vintage Obsession, Poison, or Opium, I would include those. Definitely not to everyone’s taste, but vintage is the way to go with them.
Maybe also CK Truth or Contradiction for early 2000’s?
I’m wearing Dzongkha, which doesn’t fit the CP at all. I bought a 5ml decant unsniffed a few years ago, and before I was even half way through it, I knew I needed more. So I bought an 8ml decant. I was still working through the original decant, and decided I needed even more, so this year I bought a 100ml fb. Hopefully, that will satisfy my craving.
Good morning! I am glad you are feeling a bit better Robin, must be the steak. Gloomy Saturday, mist and drizzle, again. I had planned to garden and mow lawns but I think it will have to wait again as the grass is too wet. Any excuse will do! Ostara today. Go well!
Ostara really is spring in a bottle, even a wet spring!
So glad you’re feeling somewhat better, Robin. The Black Friday phenomenom is still newish here, but it’s creeping up. I haven’t bought anything today – was busy at work – but will see if I’m tempted by something at the weekend, but it will be only one purchase.
In a cheap, old goodie, Revlon Intimate or rather Drugstore Miss Dior. Honestly to have got this for the price of a cup of coffee – darling little 40ml tear drop bottle – was money well spent. I would warmly recommend it to everybody.
Oh YES to Revlon Intimate
I knew you would approve, I wore it lightly though, not offend anyone, it’s very potent.
I am wearing The Lover’s Tale by Francesca Bianchi today. A rather skanky, opulent leather.
I did the CP yesterday with most recent bottle (travel spray) of Lancôme Jasmins Marzipane, so today I’m just exploring the vanilla discovery set from Sylvaine Delacourte.
Love Jasmins Marzipane! Eagerly waiting for a bottle I got from EvilBay.
Completely missed the CP, so Fat Electrician for work and Fils de Dieu in the evening. And i just got a bottle of L’Air de Rien by Miller Harris yesterday for a Split ? …..
All three perfumes are so good!
Seconding this! Great choices, all of those.
I finally ordered a bottle of Theorema last night. I’ve been dithering for about two years over whether I needed it. I realise, of course, that “need” isn’t the appropriate word for someone who already has too much perfume.
I went through two bottles years ago, before I fell down the rabbit hole, and decided that I really did want a bottle for old time’s sake. This morning I can still smell the last of the generous dab last night of the tiny decant I’d been hoarding.
And I meant to add that I’m keeping myself perfume free this morning so that I can try some new things – I discovered on the way home last night that our local Mecca now has a few of the Le Labo range! And oddly one stray Eau d’Italie, Morn to Dusk, which I haven’t tried.
It is on the list of the ones I’d grab in a fire! Congrats on your bottle.
I’m wearing Arielle Shoshana today. It’s very cheerful! (but no points for the cp)
Our Thanksgiving was also steak, but that was by design. My bigs are home-one from SF, one from upstate NY. We’re outside Chicago, and it’s the rare occasion that we are all together. We thought it would be nicer to spent time with them instead of in the kitchen.
It’s a whole new world; they are in and out of the house on their own schedules. The husband and I just roll with it. They leave Sunday, so we’re just kicking back to enjoy the time while they are around.
Where in Upstate NY????
She is a student in Troy
I’m wearing Outrageous, the last “big” thing I bought, if you can call the travel spray “big.” I decided against the Black Friday purchase of Woman in Gold because I bought a Craftsman rolling tool chest instead. Kanuka, I can see you rolling your eyes from here! 🙂 I desperately need to organize and declutter the garage or soon there will be no room for the car.
Not braving any stores today, but there is an exhibit of Asian textiles at the Arts Center so I’m dropping in there this afternoon. Leftover tagine and cherry buckle for dinner.
Good luck organizing your garage! ??
Wearing Fireside Intense today, gearing up to rake leaves while it’s temporarily warmer. I think I have one more day’s worth of scent in it, before the bottle goes thunk. It makes me sad that this bottle can’t be replaced, but it will make room in my collection for something else.
You are smelling perfect for your day today!
Wearing DS & Durga Amber Teutonic. I wasn’t very impressed with their latest stuff, but this one is a really good amber.
That hippo is cute and for a Tiffany, is tiffanymath free!
SOTD = Hiram Green Hyde
I am wearing it from a sample but just this morning, I placed my order at Twisted Lily with the THANKYOU2018 code so I got 20% off, no tax and free shipping. If anyone is interested in either a swap (for a charitable donation to help the CA wildfire victims) or a split, please dibs here and email me. I will split/swap off 4 x 5mLs.
I Wednesday in NYC with my brother, sister-in-law and nephew. Before we met up, I stopped by the new Chanel boutique. They did a nice job. I smelled the new 1957 Les Exclusifs; they did not do a nice job – it smelled to me like mall perfume miasma. Thanks, but no thanks. I should have not wandered around because I saw something I really liked: a pair of all black sneakers. At $950, I probably would not want to get it dirty and will only wear it inside the house. I don’t need to wear sneakers inside the house. Money saved, for now.
We met our sister at her workplace for a sushi lunch. Yum. There are 3 sushi chefs that work in the cafeteria and they source the sushi ingredients from the same suppliers as those used by Nobu.
We then walked over to the holiday shops at Bryant Park. There was a good collection of stores, many new to me. In addition to shopping, we had apple cider donuts (to satisfy my nephew’s craving) and did a good turn by giving away one of the 3 donuts that came in a bag to someone who only wanted one. We split off right around Penn Station whereupon I got on a train that was stuck on the tracks for over an hour while NJ Transit figured out how to get out of a paper bag. OK, just kidding. There were downed wires and the train had to back up and switch tracks. Instead of a 40 minute ride, I was captive for almost 2 hours!
Yesterday, we had brunch at my sister’s. I severely underestimated the amount of smoked salmon and black cod that came in a package, but thank goodness there were many alternatives. Dinner was at a friend’s with many friends – had a great time. I got home around 11PM…on the way home, I passed by a mall – the parking lot was FULL.
This morning, I braved the mall. I got a parking spot right away, went to the Apple Store knowing exactly what I wanted and was in and out in 5 minutes. The store with the worst line was Old Navy — it was 50% off the entire purchase and the line was about 100 people deep and I decided it was not worth it!
L’Occitane had some pretty good deals and very nice gifts – do check them out if you can.
I got a few things at JJill but was disappointed at their holiday wear – Frumpy Festivewear, anyone?
I will be walking to another mall to have a purchase adjusted (I figured the walk is worth $10)!
And Robin, you smell WONDERFUL. I hope you and hubby are feeling lots better!
Thanks so much hajusuuri, and LOVE tiffanymath! You could probably buy 5 of these for free 😉
WOW!!!!
I’m a bit surprised you bought Hyde – I tried it yesterday and it was too much bbq smoke for me. Super disappointed that the Bottega Profumiera Gourmand I wanted from TL is sold out, boo hiss. So then I saw it listed for sale on Amazon, saying there was qty. 8 available from e-Beauty. Just now I got a cancellation notice saying I had cancelled the order (no I did not) and the listing has disappeared, now there is a listing for double the price under a different vendor name, also in NY. Very fishy. Then tried to order it directly from the vendor in Italy and that wouldn’t work either, technical issues. So I guess the universe is telling me not to order this perfume!
It’s definitely smokey to me as well but I did not view it as bbq-like. That is too bad about Bottega Profumeria and I also find the more expensive option presented and the disappearing ad to be very disturbing indeed!
Sounds like a busy day! Hope you get a bit of peace and quiet today.
I used to really love JJill, but like you said, they have become so frumpy- shapeless, muted colors, way too much use of linen, and just so blah…??
Surprisingly, the mall was not super crazy! I still buy JJill but some of their styles are ?!
Wow, you’ve been busy!
It’s been ages since I’ve looked around in a JJill. It sounds like I am not missing anything at all.
Oh, don’t get me wrong. JJill has nice stuff but some of the holiday collection was just not up to par!
Wearing Dior Addict today, which I purchased at Ulta last year over Black Friday weekend. That gets some CP points, right?
I hate in store shopping anywhere, including groceries, and so far I’ve had 48 Black Friday emails since 5pm last evening tempting me to purchase online. Not doing it. I honestly can’t think of anything I need or even want, which is a pretty good feeling 🙂
You smell wonderful, ringthing!
I am wearing PDN Cap Neroli and I can really smell the citrus along with the neroli, so it is different from other orange blossom and neroli fragrances that I have or have tried.
I bought the Molton Brown shower gel sample set online and it arrived today. I am very pleased with the ten little bottles (small, but not too small) and look forward to trying them.
Oh, that set is so tempting!
I’m wearing Ormonde Woman, a sample that arrived yesterday. It’s fantastic! And thus, I’m done with fragrance related shopping for this year.
Ignoring all CP criteria because it’s finally weather-appropriate to bring out the Knize Ten.
Enjoy!
Baccarat Rouge 540 because I love it (thanks, Sistine) and it fits with the CP because it’s so dang expensive I haven’t shelled out for a bottle yet. My fiancé loves it too, he keeps sniffing me.
Happy Friday, everyone!
I am totally anosmic to the real BR 540, so I bought the Oil Perfumery dup and that I can smell. LOL. You might want to try it for fun, only $12. 🙂
502 request error.
Android phone.
Anyone?
I use an Android Bear but no error messages.
Same here. Sorry Bear ?
Sorry Bear. No experience with Android phones here.
Thanks for the replies.
Only NST gets the error, nothing has changed on MY end.
Do you have NST saved as a favorite? If you do, I suggest deleting it and creating a new favorite. I’m thinking it may have cached the error. This is all speculation but I thought I would put so,e of what tech support tells me to good use.
Thanks hajusuuri.
Removed NST, deleted history and cached data…………………….
not the problem, still 502.
But I appreciate the help.
Bear, if you haven’t already, please Google, Android error code 502. The error code imeans bad gateway error. The second link down was how to fix it. I’m using my IPad and can’t copy and paste on this thing, although I did try.
Iris 39 because I bought a travel size but would have loved a bottle. It’s such an easy perfume to wear. I know that I woildn’t tire of it.
Nice and congrats! I need to pull mine out and wear it- I like it more when it’s cold for some reason.
It’s really great in the cold weather.
Congrats on your incense purchase. Your description sounds lovely.
Iris 39 was one of the few perfumes that garnered me a compliment!
Me too! A woman from work whose signature is no 19, and my MIL who doesn’t wear perfume.
Heh, we’re compliment twins!
Wearing Gucci EDP, the original brown juice, my most recent purchase from eBay. Sadly, the sprayer is broken, but I can take the sprayer off and turn the bottle upside down to leak perfume on me. I may try to decant some too.
That’s a pity about your Gucci EdP bottle.
I know, isn’t it? I’m glad I can still get the perfume out through dabbing at least.
I’m wearing Black Phantom, I bought the refill because I’m too cheap to pay for the ridiculous fancy packaging (and what would I do with a black laquered box with a skull on it?).
Glad to hear that you and your husband are feeling a bit better today, Robin. Being sick on a holiday sucks. ?
Thanks, KellyC for the Happy Thanksgiving wishes! ?
No-Buy Friday here! There is now so much hype about it that I get rather irritable and refuse to buy anything out of spite. I don’t care how good the deals are.
SOTD = the last bottle I bought, Kenzo Jungle L’Elephant. I’m finding that this smells a little different sprayed than dabbed.
The hype really is annoying.
Being sick on holiday sucks, but then again, it’s awfully restful and stress-free 🙂
None of today’s CP options resnonated with me (haven’t bought anything in awhile so can’t remember what my last purchase was, I have many cheap thrills, and if a fragrance is too expensive to purchase in full bottle form I don’t usually even bother with a sample) so am following my own muse today and wearing a favorite spice fragrance as I’ve done all week since I’ve been cooking with spices all week! SOTD is the beautiful YR Rose Absolue from its Secrets d’Essences line with its hauntingly beautiful cinnamon thread that lingers deliciously in a soft, elegant hug. Love it, love it, love it! Not tempted by any shopping deals today, my granddaughter stayed over last night and while she worked diligently on a school project I worked diligently on post-holiday cleanup. Then we escaped from the Black Friday madness into a few very pleasant hours with the Crimes of Grindelwald and then a stroll home through our town’s Christmas lights.
Little Bear enjoyed her first Thanksgiving celebration with us. She played and played all afternoon and was so spoiled by numerous people that when my granddaughter and I went to feed her dinner after she had been placed in her special room for awhile for some quiet time, she did not respond to repeated calls from either of us. We were getting worried something had happened to her until I looked deep inside her carrier where she sometimes sleeps and she finally began to stir, she was so exhausted she had been so sound asleep she hadn’t even heard us!
Wishing everyone a lovely and grateful weekend ahead!
Ha! I am picturing Little Bear in a food coma – so cute. Coincidentally, I was at Boscov’s and saw that they now carry Demeter. Kitten Fur smells like musky baby powder!
How did you like Crimes of Grindelwald? I just watched most of Fantastic Beasts last night.
I’m not much of a Harry Potter fan, nor have I seen Fantastic Beasts, so Crimes was somewhat confusing, although I enjoyed it more than I anticipated (especially Johnny Depp and Eddie Redmayne). But my granddaughter who’s 11 and a big HP fan and saw the Beasts movie couldn’t answer my questions, and a young teenager and her brother we chatted with afterwards who were big fans and also saw the Beasts movie admitted they were also confused and had the same questions I did (many of the same characters in both). So I definitely want to see Fantastic Beasts and then again see Crimes. (And I’m guessing a third movie answering the questions raised in the second one? )
It sounds like Little Bear is socialized really well, thanks to you Laila. Good job!
Thanks! She still likes to frequently (playfully) attack moving objects, including fingers answering emails, and bite, but she’s getting better.
Today I wore Passage d’Enfer. It’s one of the samples Cobrarose sent me for the freebiemeet. I haven’t yet checked what the price would be for a bottle, but I do like the pine incense scent and have been wearing it every so often.
(Thank you to Jepster and Cobrarose — I’ve had a lot of fun trying samples.)
Totally skipped the CP today, but dug out Chypre Mousse for its first wear of the season. We were hiking in the wintry woods of NYC, and it was perfect.
