Thursday. The good news: Cappuccino Day, Bonnie Raitt's birthday. The bad news: Thousand Oaks. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: partial credit with Cire Trudon Bruma.
Reminder: on 11/9, wear a fragrance by Carthusia, CB I Hate Perfume, Comptoir Sud Pacifique or Czech & Speake, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter C.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I was wondering why my feed was showing mass shooting reactions. Such a tragedy. š
I’m wearing vintage Lauren by Ralph Lauren, which I picked up over the weekend. I told my mom the next day and she said, “Oh, I loved Lauren! I was the first person to wear it!” How funny, I can’t imagine her wearing it, but I’m excited to see if it triggers her memory.
Have a great day all!
What a lovely memory! I like to think fragrances are a peek into one’s personna.
Me too! I love finding out!
She was first!
Apparently! And then everyone else copied here. š
Ok thatās adorable!
My mom had a bottle of Lauren back in the day!
Greetings all! Been happily reading here and today I shall not be a wallflower but a contributor. Wearing Carven Le Vetiver EDP. Unrepentantly masculine but a very different vetiver. Opening with lavender and wormwood, a bit of smoke and lots of green to my nose. There are hints of nutmeg but the use of Javanese vetiver is what makes it unique. I find this vetiver smoother and more peppery. It is also a more projecting vetiver. It is the white bottle with the wood cap and can be found online for between 25-35 greenbacks. Practically free!
Welcome! And your scent sounds really good; possible lemming…
Greetings stinker_kit! Your username makes me giggle.
Your SOTD sounds fab – fragrantica lists the top 3 notes as vetiver, labdanum, and gin. Thanks for the mini-review.
Nothing better than a good vetiver! Welcome to the best smelling group on the ‘Net….. š
I like Carven Vetiver and it is exactly the way I imagine Idris Elba smells everyday.
Ede, I can’t like your comment enough! š
welcome and now I’m wondering what wormwood smells like.
I think absinthe?
A warm welcome and you smell super good, in France Vetiver was advertised along with its feminine counterpart, Eau Vive which I own and enjoy in summer but now I want to hunt Vetiver after your lovely review.
Nice to see you again stinker_kit….welcome back !
SotD = Cologne du 68
gosh, I love this stuff. L’Heure Bleue, Eau de Guerlain, now this one. I’m gettin’ my Guerlain on.
And the contrarian in me loves wearing colognes in cool weather. S’wonderful. š
Thursday, I love you. You are the gooey delicious marshmallow holding together the Monday graham crackers and Friday chocolate of my s’mores-y week.
Iām right with you about cologne in cool weather and any time! 68 is lovely.
There is a decant special at STC today and I noticed several Guerlains. Iām thinking of getting some Nahema.
I tried Nahema for the first time last weekend. It is a lovely rose.
You smell great Tiffanie.
SOTD is vintage Amazone parfum by Hermes. š
Vintage Amazone is gorgeous!
And the parfum is the best version of them all! It’s absolutely joyous.
I love vintage Amazone! I was lucky to get a new in box bottle of the pour edt a few years ago. Inside the box, the bottle came wrapped in this very pretty square of tissue paper that was decorated to look like an Hermes scarf. It’s a pretty cool piece of marketing just for the package!
Oh wow, what a lovely presentation!
Amazone has been high on my list to try but I’ve never seen it. Vintage would be preferable but I only ever find Caleche.
Great choice, I have the vintage EDT and I can imagine the parfum is super.
Partial credit with Carner Barcelona Palo Santo. So very creamy.
Sitting in the Tick Tock Diner waiting for friends who are passing through town and hopping a train at noon. Never been to this institution. So much bigger than my neighborhood diner!
I love CB Palo Santo, you smell great.
I didn’t know about Thousand Oaks til I just read it here š so horrible. Again.
SOTD is Bottega Veneta, version #9465213 of why don’t I wear this more often! So gorgeous. It’s almost Friday, have a good day everyone.
Isn’t it great?
I felt the same way when I pulled it out recently. It had been awhile since I last wore it, and I was so happy to have it back in my nose. ???? You smell wonderful.
Again, yes. I am out of words.
Good morning Y’all….
Unfortunately, the United States has more problems right now than we can shake a stick at. That’s all I can say without saying something inappropriate or politically incorrect. Prayers up for the latest victims in California.
Wearing ELdO Remarkable People….it was very bright and fruity and sparkly, but 3 hours in it’s almost gone. I need to remember to carry my Scentbird sample with me to refresh!
I guess I get no credit for sotd Indochine. Loving the laoatian honey sweet buttery wood tempered by a slightly bitter camphorous note goodness. I really suits these warm golden fall days and the background smell of roots dried fallen leaves and damp earth here in Vermont. My ex husband gave me Indochine for a gift when we were married and up till now I had very mixed emotions about wearing it. Iām wondering if anyone here has had conflicting feelings about wearing a perfume that was given to you by someone before the relationship went south? And if so how did you deal with that?
I haven’t had that experience with a perfume, but I certainly have with music. I’m so glad you’re able to enjoy Indochine again!
Me too. Thanks!
I have that with music too. I had to quarantine all the Indie band songs that my ex liked on my iTunes.
Not with perfumes that my ex gave me, because he didn’t, but with perfumes I wore during our marriage, yes. Don’t want to go near them again.
Same here. Canāt wear any of the stuff I wore when I was with him, with the exception of things I was wearing long before I met him and have worn continuously for decades.
I was engaged and then 6 weeks before our wedding he died. I have this lovely bottle of perfume that sits in my cupboard after all these years and I will probably never open it.
My condolences, Ede.
Is it superficial of me to be curious as to which perfume ? Hhmm , probably……
????????????ā
It’s wrapped! With a bow! I have never opened the wrapping. I will probably die and still have it wrapped.
So sorry. I hope you can open it when you feel strong enough or find a new love. Celebrate life!
Oh. I am really really sorry. My uncle who just passed away–we had the memorial at our house last weekend–loved SSS’s Sienna Musk on me. I thought about wearing it on Sunday for the gathering, but just couldn’t.
Sorry about your uncle…. also sending a hug.
A big hug.
Oh so sorry Ede. Thatās such a heartbreaking story. Thankyou for sharing it.
I had a few perfumes from my ex… or that I got to suit exā taste.
I avoided them while the grudge or hurt was intense, and then resolved to wear them again, they are lovely ones.
I am very reluctant though on doing same vacation destinations with another person š so I get the feeling.
I still struggle with the very beautiful Boucheron fragrance that I wore A LOT when I was in my first marriage…over 20 years ago! I still have a bottle and sometimes I take it out to smell the nozzle, but it is hard for me to wear. Fragrance memories can stick around for a long time as we all know. There are times when I specifically avoid wearing a fragrance if I know I’m going to be really stressed or doing something unpleasant just so I can avoid bad fragrance memories.
Yep I can relate to that completely. My first serious relationship was with a guy who was super abusive. When we broke up I had to get a restraining order on him. He wore Grey Flannel and though I love the smell of vintage GF, it has such a bad vibe for me
My first bottle of l’Heure Bleue extrait was given to me by my boyfriend when I was eighteen, fortunately the end of the relationship was not the end of my love affair with l’HB though I have the parfum de toilette these days.
For me, it’s the original Michael Kors, I adored that scent, it was given to me by my now ex-fiancee.
SOTD is CSP L’Eau du Gouverneur.
Yay. I am saving that one for tomorrow.
Nice! It’s 2/5 match for us this week, then, because I am going to wear Mediterraneo tomorrow š
SOTD: Alyssa Ashley Musk with a bit of caramel apple-scented lotion. Feeling very autumnal today. It’s chilly and just past peak time for fall colors in my neck of the woods. This is my favorite time of the year
ā¤????
Caramel apple lotion? Do tell??
I’m not normally into gourmands, but this stuff is pretty delicious! The brand is called Hempz (all their products are made with hemp oil) and you can find it at Ulta. Sadly, I just noticed the label says “limited edition,” so I don’t know if the caramel apple scent is still available.
I’m wearing vintage Givenchy III, full of oakmoss, galbanum and aldehydes.
Wearing my last tiny spray of my almost full large decant of my beloved FM Iris Poudre. Unexpected and heartbreaking “thunk”. I don’t know how the decant fell from my hand this morning when I was trying to get another spray. It crashed on the floor and shattered into trillion pieces. I was and I am still in shock. My bedroom will smell amazing for a while though, but I will miss it greatly. It will go once again to my “shopping list, but it will take awhile before I get a new decant again. I am sticking on my “no-buy” resolution. R.I.P. my friend!
Argh. I’ve done that with a couple of my decants. So sad. But now I need to dig out my small decant of Iris Poudre. It’s so beautiful.
Dig it out and enjoy it! Iris Poudre is such a wonderful perfume!
RIP ???? Sad to lose the ones you live. I’ve done that a few times, myself, the worst being a decant of Alahine I was sending to someone in a swap meet ????
First time that a perfume fall ends up in such a disaster for me. I have dropped full bottles before, but none had broken . Perhaps, because they fell on the carpet, but this time I was not that lucky!
You smell great, perfumelover67! ????????
That is unfortunate, but you can always purchase the 10ML spray. Still expensive but you will have it to ENJOY.
I purchased Iris Poudre and Monsieur in that size and don’t regret it. Ask for samples if you purchase online from FM.
????????????ā????
Thank you Bear! That is what I have in mind. A 10ml decant and ask for samples of the same. Maybe my Christmas present to myself…
So sad when that happens, I am sorry. Hope you can get yourself another decant soon.
Let’s see what the holidays bring to me…. š
I’m really sorry, that really stinks.
ā????Well…..it doesn’t really stink……… LOLOLOL ????????????
I’m in a silly mood. ????????????ā????
Ha! I know, I know. ????????
š š š
LOL! I will not clean my bedroom until the “stink” is gone! I think some of the juice went to the rug also…
I does stink! At least I will smell it for a couple of more days!
Oh no! Sorry to hear that.
Thank you! I am also deeply sorry!
So frustrating, especially when it’s one you love!
I know! You feel so helpless seeing the juice spilled all over the place!!!
Makes you want to lay down on the floor and roll all over the juice if the darned glass didn’t smash into a million pieces. Sorry about that, but your room smells AMAZING I’m sure!
Did you ever treat yourself to your ‘birthday bottle’?
Not yet! Still debating what perfume to get for my birthday. ????
Such a bummer to lose a decant that way! ???? I hope that all those tiny bits of glass are safely in a trash can now.
I did my best to clean up all the pieces, since that is the spot where my dog sleeps most of the time. I will check again later when I get home, since I was rushing in the morning.
Stick to your resolution!!!!!
I will! ????
Oh nooooo! I’m so sorry š I guess this is the upside to our carpet. (I generally hate carpet, but it sure cushions those falls!)
No points for me, but happily wearing my go to fragrance: NR Musc for Her Oil (2007 version, long discontinued).
Thousand Oaks shooting makes me want to stay home with my sweet Golden Retriever, go visit an elderly friend who recently had surgery, work out hard and do something creative. Instead, I am at my computer at work. But I will still check in on my friend.
I am going to yoga and will be sending positive healing energy out to the world, then staying home with my sweet puppy and baking bread. The world is in such a difficult place right now. So much sinat chinam, baseless hatred. I hope somehow we can turn things around.
These are my feelings. *hugs*
So many mass shootings in such a short period of time. I went to a vigil for the synagogue murders just 2 weeks ago. Someone my SIL knows was killed in that one. Madness is really making an unabashed public showing. It’s just terrible.
SOTD MDCI Fete Persanes from a decant the lovely Petunia sent me a while back. Cozy, spiced, incense-y oriental. Very smooth and delicious! Reminds me of a softer Mon Nom est Rouge, also by Cecile Zaropkian. She has a certain signature incense accord also in Epic Woman.
I went to Macy’s after work yesterday to look for a new bag and went sniffing around and my surprise “really like” was Lancome Magie Noire’s current version! The SA was steering me to their newer perfumes telling me that one smelled “old”. I’ve tried the vintage which was more bitter, inky green to me. This smelled the same but the edges were fuzzier.
You smell great! I love FĆŖtes Persanes and Epic Woman, now I want to smell Mon Nom est Rouge.
If you like the other 2, you’d probably like it. There’s more rose and it’s all a bit more intense. I love the Majda Bekkali bottles!
Ugh, I hate when sales people are like this! Lancome does really good scents and excellent makeup – sales people should have confidence and let people choose what they like!
And on the latest shooting: the madness was already here; the ready availability of weapons of war is what has changed.
Yeah, if that’s the case, don’t put it out on display, right? She was actually nice and once we got to chatting she admitted she could see the appeal in retro and that at least they’re so different from everything else there.
Yes, the madness existed and agree with plus the internet has been a game changer, too.
They surprisingly have a bottle of that at my tiny Macyās too and I always give it a sniff as Iām walking past. The bottle is so plain and probably doesnāt get a lot of attention surrounded by all the pink La Vie est flankers upon flankers.
It is a pretty boring, generic bottle. The old bottle was pretty cool, though.
Love your description of Fete but haven’t tried the Lancome. Sounds promising though.
Thanks for the Fete ????! I almost forgot I had it ???? I think you sent it in Spring so I put it with my cold weather decants.
I really like the drydown of Magie Noire. Sort of a sultry honey. It does smell retro, even reformulated.
Le Mat from the splitmeet
My heart goes out to CA (I also left my heart there)
Via Quadronno for a cappuccino
Thanks for all the Diwali wishes yesterday
I was in on that split, and that’s what I’m wearing today, too!
And .. what do you think?
Lush Lust. So sexy it’s almost obscene. I never wear it out of the house: it’s just too much. But oh, I love it on my days off!
Gotta get me some of that based on your description ha!
Not blind, KellyC. Lust almost killed me !????????

Hypothetical situation:
You encounter a man
In good shape
Somewhat good-looking
Black Levis black Adidas flannel shirt
Beard, but he’s too old to be a hipster
Smelling of Chanel No 5EDP
At your workplace grocery store bank gym cocktail party bookstore mall dollar store
Your first impression/gut reaction IS?
(Disclaimer: no punctuation does not denote stooopidity, just a stylistic thAng) ????????????
GO !
????????????ā????
My gut reaction: Daammmmn. Either he has impeccable taste or he was just having a lot of fun with someone who does.
HA!! good one!Must 2nd this.
relief that he is not a hipster! ha ha quite a few here and I feel very old. I would love a bit more diversity in age range š
Fascination would be my reaction. Although I am terrible at recognizing perfumes on others and probably wouldnāt know it was No. 5. Confidence is very sexy.
Ask for his phone number and slide into his DMs on Twitter
This!
First thought: rockin’ it! Second thought: Am I interested? Is he?
First off- levis and flannel… swoon ???? second off- good perfume mixed with man smell.. double swoon ???????? third off- your no punctuation style is more stylistic than my run on sentence style????
Keep on rockin it baby ????????????ā¤????????
Pretty sure I would sidle up for a good sniff! I would do this very surreptitiously, because I like to go unnoticed. You see that fly on the wall? That would be me. ????
He woke up happy in another apartment, and grabbed a bottle of No 5 in the bathroom of a shared rent with a man and a woman living there, and has enough confidence to pull of wearing whatever he grabbed first. Edt is totally unisex IMHO.
This does not sound at all hypothetical, except for my being lucky enough to cross paths with this fabulous man. ???? ???? ???? ???? ????
Sounds like Santa just had a makeover
Ditto on what Kanuka said
I’d think: “I’m so glad he gets how great it is to contrast casual wear with an elegant, sophisticated scent” ????????????????ā¤
I’d think: “I’m so glad he gets how great it is to contrast casual/grunge wear with an elegant, sophisticated scent” ????????????????ā¤
My serious guess:
I nearly never smell No. 5 on the street anymore, despite how much they say it sells.
So I am betting most people don’t even know what it smell like.
And most people would think men never wear women’s fragrances.
So I bet most people will have no idea it’s No. 5, and assume whatever this man is wearing is a men’s fragrance.
Wow… someone in my area is actually wearing fragrance! It is not a common occurrence at all, so I would appreciate the scent diversion.
I would glance at his area and then pretend I didnāt
I’d recognize it, I think (I used to wear the parfum) and I’d be impressed. More men should wear it: it’s timeless, ageless, and genderless ā just a really excellent scent.
Thanks for the interesting replies, Everyone !
Late bloomers/readers, there’s room for you !

I finally tested Neela Vermeire Niral yesterday. It reminds me of Duchaufour’s Traversee du Bosphore, but irisy and less apple sweet.
I also thought it reminded me of Amour Nocturne, which I recalled as having a similar irisy vibe, but my more recent sample of Amour Nocturne does not bear that out.
To my nose, there is something hard or blunt about most of the NVs, and Niral is no exception. I was hoping to like Niral because of that beautiful bottle, but no sale. But now I’m really looking forward to a cloud of Traversee du Bosphore later in the day.
PSA: I’m seeing a ton of TdB in the old packaging (hence less reformulated) on discount sites for about half price.
Niral was pleasant but too faint on me. I much prefer TdB.
Iām wearing Hiris today – I needed an old friend after reading the news this morning.
Everyone please have a safe, healthy and fragrant day.
You smell great. You too have a good day!
You smell wonderful.
I’m in Comme des GarƧons Concrete, which someone mentioned yesterday. It’s got two “C’s” in its title, right? I really like it. It’s very creamy and easy-going and smooth but the spices perk it up. I almost want to say it has a yeasty quality, and am not sure what that note is. I’m off to physical therapy later today–they make me work very hard!
I wish it had smelled that way on me. I just got the wet cement note. I have a smallish decant from STC if you would like it…
Thanks for the kind offer! I did buy a FB and so I probably don’t need it, but perhaps someone else might like it. I would not have bought it just for the bottle, but I do kind of enjoy its feel in my hand.
Hope that your PT workout is a good one!
Day off so I can glory in DSH Slinky Carnation
A good reason to not go to work š
Nocturnes de Caron and drinking English breakfast tea. My allergies are acting up — big time. I am on the way to the drugstore to buy some allergy/decongestant medicine. Nocturnes is an oldie but goody in my collection, and this scent doesn’t aggravate my allergies.
Fall allergies are the worst! Hope they subside soon!
Good luck getting rid of the allergies!
LOVE Nocturnes..it’s been with me since 1983
Used up a sample of Goldfield & Banks White Sandalwood to wear to yoga this morning, will switch to something else later.
Dug up a small bottle of CBIHP Leather in my stash, will save that for tomorrow.
I did not wear as much CBIHP this week as I wanted…
Costamor Dulcess from a sample. I ordered this one long ago on my quest to scratch my Lea itch. Then I found a new bottle of Lea on evilbay. This might have been a good substitute, sweet, but not the kind that makes me queasy. I would like to try this lineās Beachwood too.
Okay, so I know Iāve talked before about my massive closet clean out and embarking on a capsule wardrobe. WELL, I discovered the greatest app a couple of weeks ago. Cladwell (no affiliation) and I am hooked. Basically, you log all items in your closet and everyday it puts together 3 outfits to choose from, or you can build your own. It is genius for someone like me who stands in front of the closet in the morning wondering what to wear.
Wow! I’m going to take a look at it.
I had fun doing a capsule wardrobe last summer for traveling, because in years past I would often bring some things that I didn’t wear at all. So I did the whole color thing (3 base, 2 accents, 3 mains or something like that) and it really helped with more versatility as well as wearing most things. Also helped with not overpacking. I can’t see myself doing it year round because I like thrift store shopping too much, but I’m very intrigued by the app/website you mention.
You could make a perfume version of that app. Log in all your perfumes and then in the morning type in ‘oriental’ or ‘uplifting’ or ‘elegant’ or ‘fresh’ or ‘vanilla’ etc. and it could give you three options to select from.
Will definitely have to look at that app!
My capsule wardrobe consists of five outfits for work (all black because it matches the mood I feel about work) and two outfits for the weekend…quick and easy to get dressed in the morning.
Since I started this job that I hate, I pretty much wear the same thing everyday. Black pants, black shirt, black sweater. I used to look nice for work, now I’ve just been beaten down. They can’t take away how good we smell cm8! Glad to see you ????
You guys nailed it. I wear mostly black to work for my mood there and also because no thinking is involved in the morning process. And also because I can’t wear perfume to work (although I do cheat with lotions and the occasional spritz I blame as my shampoo if anyone says anything)!
No wonder I blast myself when I get home with numerous sprays!
Aha! There you are!????
I knew you were a fan of the capsule wardrobe too. I currently have 27 items in my closet and there are supposedly 990 different combinations!?! With two kids in college I am really ātryingā not to buy and just mix up what I have.
Work days are easy for me too because I wear the same thing everyday: scrubs.????
Have a great weekend cm8!
Taking an idea from Robin and am wearing something from Cire Trudon. I’m in Olim, which had a lot of interesting notes and is a bit spicy.
That’s a nice one.
Happy Birthday Bonnie, she is an amazing musician- LOVE HER!!
Angel from Montgomery !!!
SoTD::
Carlen Parfums’s Butch Femme – it is no longer on line but the notes sound quite good.
CP for small house “C” perfumes.
Me too! That is about Bonnie Raitt, and Angel from Montgomery, and I Can’t Make You Love Me. You know, I think I must have had her music on cassettes as I cannot seem to find any CDs of hers around the house. That is how long ago I listened to Bonnie Raitt. Time to boot up YouTube for a little 80’s nostalgia.
My parents had Bonnie Raitt on cassette too. She’s one of the musicians I remember playing on the stereo throughout my early childhood.
I adore Bonnie Raitt. I do still like her older stuff better, but I like her new music too.
I looooove “Angel from Montgomery.” When I was in high school, I heard three women sing it a cappella and found it so mesmerizing that I carried the song with me for about 15 years, at which point I arranged it myself for four a cappella female voices š It ended up sounding great, and more importantly, filled me with all kinds of nostalgic emotions.
1) At Church. At a Supermarket. At Temple. At School. At Work. At a Country Music Bar. At a Disco. In a Car. Getting Skittles. At a Country Music Festival. Getting Burgers. At College.
2) In Rien, from ELDO, which is now sold in a wonderful indie shop in North Portland!
Yes. Anywhere. Everywhere. Any time.
I love Rien. You smell good.
Carpe Diem.

*HUGS*
I literally just shivered reading your 1). Taking my son down to SoCal this evening for a college tour tomorrow. Feeling new fear mixed in with the old bitter sweet.
Just hug your boy everyday that you can.
I hate that I have to say that.
Yup. I was at the NYC marathon on Sunday and I had a sudden moment of fear, wondering if we were safe.
I’m wearing L’Heure Bleue parfum today. Looking forward to a quiet morning, maybe a forest walk later. It’s not raining here!
Lovely!
Hey friends, I smell lovely in my partial credit Couvent des Minimes Eau des Missions, from a decant sent to me by the kindest NSTer.
I couldn’t get myself out of bed until 8, so I decided to work from home all morning to avoid traffic (we have funny traffic patterns here; if I leave before 7:40, there’s almost no traffic at all, but my drive to work sucks if I leave between 7:45 – 10). Pretty much all my work over the past few weeks has been on the computer anyway, so working from home isn’t difficult.
I took advantage of this situation to make myself a pretty fabulous breakfast: A toasted slice of sourdough, a thin layer of Boursin, sliced avocado, smoked salt and lemon, and a soft-boiled egg on top. It was deeeeeelicious. Now I’m very, very full (my usual breakfast is just an egg) and don’t know if I’ll be able to eat lunch.
My cat is helping me work by sitting on my arms. Thanks, Mr Cat.
That IS a fabulous breakfast! Way to take care of yourself today!
Thanks, I think I did a good job completing all the work I needed to do today in the least stressful way possible š And that breakfast was so tasty that I have dreams of eating it every day….
That breakfast sounds divine!
It is, and packed with protein and healthy fats! (Aaaaand unhealthy fats and starch, but who’s keeping track?) I highly recommend it.
Oooh, boursin! I will have to make some. Your breakfast sound(ed) so wonderful; and you have a fantastic work mate ????
Do try it and let me know if you enjoy it!
Yeah, my cat is super helpful >.< always fuzzy and entertaining though!
Wearing Bulgari Black today. I didn’t realize how appropriate it would be–black for mourning. Again. I don’t think I can say more without falling afoul of the no politics rule here.
My heart these days just goes back and forth between sad and tired.
Hm. At this point, I’m mostly just tired.
I’m so sick of everything that I didn’t even properly follow the elections. I don’t think I’ve failed to closely follow countrywide elections since high school.
JM snowdrops and white moss. Like cologne with kitchen cupboard spices sprinkled on top, and then a very faint bitter moss. Stays close to the skin ( have to hold wrist to nose) .
Hey, thanks for the birthday wishes yesterday. A year older but no wiser. Hmmm. Actually. Maybe a little less wise if truth be told.
Canturi, so partial credit?
Why not š
Staying with Mugler today, in Aura edp. I was able to try the edt the other day. It’s pretty bright, a happier, more sunny Aura. It gave me a headache, LOL. I suspect I might like it better in the spring, when I’m happy, and there is sun ????gearing up for our first snow tonight.āā????????
Oh no…snow! I’m not ready.ā
I am! ????
Ha! I’m still waiting for fall.
My favorite season was a total jip this year.
Too bad we couldn’t send the snow your way. I’m sure lillyjo won’t mind. ????
Here too. Feel like I totally missed fall this year. Now, Iām in mid to high 70ās with a lot of sun, but when I go out hiking on these bald hills, it must be mid to high 80ās. So ready to be able to wear a sweater! Thankfully, the nights are much cooler.
Ha! She says from sunny California ????
I start preparing in August and I’m still not ready! Bu preparing, I mean worrying ????????
Hope you don’t get enough to make me a āāāāāāā!???????? You smell great lillyjo! ????????????????????????????Rock “light blue lady ” outta here! !! ????????????????????
????????????ā
A āwill all depend on the dreaded lake effect. Ugh…
Too bad that your summer and fall seem to be gone, gone, gone! I associate snow with winter, no matter what the calendar says.
Same. I think that’s one of the reasons I don’t care much for fall, most years, it’s incredibly short here.
Yesterday I was staving off despair about Yemen. Today Thousand Oaks. Through line? Well, I’ll keep that to myself in this forum.
Seeking comfort in ambient lavender with an oil diffuser, and the dependable if not earth-shattering Ambre 114.
So grateful for my family and the roof over my head!
My heart breaks for Yemen and CA
Same…trying to remember all the many things I have to be thankful for.
I went with Calling All Angels for partial credit. I hope everyone is having a good day.
Oooh, you smell wonderful. That’s my greatest lemming right now. Perhaps it will be a Christmas gift to myself!
I have the 15 ml travel size that I bought direct from the April Aromatics website. I’ve had it for a while but don’t remember it being hugely expensive. You don’t need to use a lot to smell good all day.
I may go for that since it’s a lot less and probably plenty for me.
Looking for Heathcliff lurking somewhere in that photo!
SOTD is the uplifting ELDO Fils de Dieu. It makes me (falsely) optimistic! Who doesnāt need that these days?
You smell great!
This is really uplifting. And makes me hungry every time i smell it
LOL about Heathcliff and that photo. I’m reading (well, listening to) Wuthering Heights again for the umpteenth time. Don’t know why I bother after so many times, but I just love it.
He’s got to be there!
Not even pretending to play along with the CP today.
LPRN Black Perfecto is wafting around me today.
Oh, fun choice!
Thanks everyone for the kind birthday wishes yesterday! I appreciated them more than you know. And yes, I will have a do-over birthday at a later date when my personal world is more happy. I know that day will come. š Wish the wider world were more happy, too. I fail to understand the urge to… well, I just fail to understand.
Tried Molton Brown Muddled Plum shower gel this morning. Nice. Currently sampling ELdO You or Someone Like You. I smell like citrus toothpaste. Minty fresh!
Somehow missed that it was your birthday yesterday. Sending you a warm birthday hello, a popping of corks and clinking of glasses, and a shared hard stare at all the troubles.
Oh happy belated birthday! Wishing you a year filled with happiness and peace.
I missed them, too–happy belated birthday!
My “c” for today is Caron. SOTD is Parfum Sacre edp. I wear this more frequently than not when I need a winter-work friendly “back-bone” fragrance, but it was nice today b/c one of my co-workers (who normally likes white flowers) complimented my sillage.
Oh nice!
Huitieme Art Fareb (too boozy) + TDC Bois d’Iris (too dry) = yummy!
Interesting!
Came here to get some inspiration for what scent to wear and have now a hankering for Patchouli – I have a little patchouli sachet in the woolen drawer (wow – does that make me sound ancient or what?) and my sweater smells all patchouli good. Unfortunately, I have no patch fragrances at all because many seem to skew more masculine than I like.
Feeling a little helpless about the news today.
It is hard not to feel helpless š
Friends from the US, so sorry about yet another shooting.
Robin, I love that atmospheric photo.
AdP Profumo today, a proper, almost old school but not quite chypre.
Isn’t that a great shot? Wish I took pictures like that.
Finally commenting instead of just reading the posts this week. Thoroughly participating in CBIHP In the Library from my boyfriend’s bottle. I smell cozy and great. I gave myself about 15 sprays since that water perfume concentration isn’t usually very long lasting. Funny, he bought this bottle when we visited Seattle 7 years ago before we moved here. My souvenir perfume was CdG Holygrace.
Tuesday I wore Carner Barcelona Palo Santo and yesterday was in CBIHP Cradle of Light absolute. I love both of them.
Another somber day, but I’m trying to not dwell in the sadness. A good friend is having her first baby in Feb and I may make a trip to Ohio for her baby shower in January. But why do I have to go to Ohio in the dead of winter?!
You do smell great!!
And agree, your friend should have her baby in May š
You smell great Robin. The world canāt quire be fended off with even the greatest perfume, but itās a small bit of comfort.
Exactly. And wearing a drop of Theorema tonight after yoga class, so now I’m in serious comfort.
After reading Kevin’s review and news about the demise of Serge Lutens’ staple perfumes, I felt compelled to wear Jeu de Peau from my almost empty decant to talk myself either in or out hunting the older bottle online while those are still available.
Upset with the news. Everybody, stay safe and hug your loved ones.
I thought the same thing about Chergui. Thought twins!
Was very sorry to wake up and see news of yet another shooting. Itās becoming way too regular now. Iām in Cartier Declaration EDT today, perfect warming spicy and woody scent to go with the almost foot of snow we got here in Jackson Hole yesterdayā. Ughh Iām not ready yet, dreaming of a Tahiti trip right now.
Brrrrrr! At least you smell good!
Wearing L’Eau d’Hiver, which I’m greatly enjoying. Busy day at work but I’m nearly done for today, which is good.
Hope you are home relaxing by now!
Eau de Merveilles Bleu for a sunny day cruising the mountain roads in a Cinquecento with a foldable top. BF did the driving so i had Time to look at the views
Sounds fun and you smell wonderful.
Catching up on you all this afternoon in Providence Sweet Jasmine Brown.
Happy birthday to Bonnie Raitt! And to Joni Mitchell, yesterday or maybe the day before. Love them both.
Perfumewise, I wanted something cozy this morning (first morning below 40 degrees in a long while) and sprayed on Natori. Instantly regretted it – not sure what happened, but I gave it a while to settle and then realized that it’s a bit similar to (but not as interesting as) my newest acquisition, MDCI Promesse de l’Aube, so I sprayed that over the Natori (which was fading anyway) and was much happier.
You must be so relieved that you were able to supersede Natori.
Keeping the evening news OFF tonight.
SOTD = commando for part of the day due to a doctor’s appointment. Nothing serious at all, just a follow up. Things went well! ???? Then came home and sprayed FM Superstitious again. It’s fitting in rather nicely with the cool sunny autumn weather of the past couple days.
Glad to hear your follow up appointment went well!
You smell fantastic!
Thanks! ????
I got another sample spray of Superstitious as part of Nordstromās Fall Scent Event where I purchased Red No.5 LāEau. The SA was amused when I told her it was my 3rd bottle of LāEau.
Third? I thought the red one made 2, what’s the other one?
The first was a 50mL, then the super cute 35mL and then the 100mL Red. I think I am set for life with lāeau, that is, until they issue a green bottle, in which case, I would need it too!
Wow! That’s a lot of bottles of l’Eau!
I must’ve forgotten that they make a 35 mL size. Now I have a hankering for one of those. Hm. (No! Not allowed!)
Not to enable or anything ????????????
… you should go see it in person at your nearest Sephora. The unboxed version is the perfect stocking stuffer. Gifts donāt count in your quarterly confession. The next time you travel, you donāt even have to decant, just bring the entire bottle.
SOTD = CDG Sticky Cake
This is not your average sweet baked cake; rather, it reminds me of a Filipino delicacy called Sunan, a sweet moist sticky rice cake cooked in coconut milk and I bet if almond extract or almond milk was used, it would smell even more similar.. I suspect that the steam from the cooking of this dessert would come closest to what Sticky Cake smells like!

I am behind in my work and had planned my day to catch up but the universe did not cooperate. Le sigh …if I could do over today, I would have worn No.19 EDP to see if it would have made a difference!
Commuting Woes No. 612 and 613:
– As the guy who sat next to me got up to get out of the train, he bumped his heavy briefcase against my knee, he also stepped on my foot! The train was not even crowded and he did not smell like he was inebriated. If he was a little closer I would have kicked his leg. I know some may think he did not mean it or perhaps he was unsteady due to an organic problem but he sure did not look like he needed any assistance.
– I hate it when people talking or texting stops short in front of the entrance, specially a revolving door where people end up coming out in every direction to avoid bumping into the idjit. Happened today.
On a lighter note, I saw a construction worker using a paper napkin to hold on to a pole.
Did the guy at least say excuse me? And LOL at the construction worker! Good for him, you can’t be to careful.
He did but really, there was no excuse for his sloppiness.
Wow, Sticky Cake sounds wonderful! So does sunan š
I misspelled it. Suman is very good!
Barely still Thursday but wearing Lolita Lempicka Sweet, because the bottle was calling my name. A little Cherry-chocolate lipgloss accord never hurt anyone.
Wow does THAT sound yummy!
