Monday's ugly little sister! Also, the International Day of Non-Violence and Sting's birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Prada Infusion d'Iris Absolue. It smells good enough to wear two days in a row, plus, I'm running late and it was still sitting on my desk.
Reminder: 10/5 is International Teachers Day. Pick a fragrance that honors a teacher, in one way or another.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the tea items are from Royal Crown Derby's Steampunk collection.
Santal Exotique–such a cozy scent to counterbalance a cool rainy day
SotD = Infusion d’Iris edt
Robin wore the Absolue yesterday which reminded me it was one of my first perfume loves after finding NST a few years ago.
And ten sprays because it’s mah burfday! I have had enough birthdays that I tend to ignore them. But today I am marking the occasion by telling as many people as I can how grateful I am for the difference they have made in my life this past year. I am sending texts, emails, and making phone calls between teaching six 1st and 2nd grade music classes, tutoring after school, and teaching private piano students. I am grateful for my very musical life. Music has saved me.
NSTers, you darling People of the Perfume, my Sisters and Brothers in L’eau, you have made me smile every day this past year, just like every day since I found NST. Thank you!
Trigger Warning: mental health issues, feel free to skip, la la la, nothing to see here . . . Robin, if this post needs to be edited that’s ok with me.
I adore NST because of the perfume, the people, the sharing, and because sometimes we share a little bit (or a lot) more about our lives. It’s ok to look away here, don’t read, don’t comment, I respect that! Sometimes I can’t take on anything extra when I’m already drowning.
This past year has been one of the most difficult of my life, The only two that compare are the year that ended a 20 year relationship and the teen-age summer I spent mostly unconscious after a major reconstructive surgery.
In June a member of my family was involuntarily held in a mental hospital after becoming violent and suicidal. It was awful, horrible, nobody should go through this ever. It was terrible and yet we have come out on the other side stronger, though still struggling for the foreseeable future. But now that the issues are out in the open, everyone feels safer, and healing can begin.
I realized in June that my family and I had to have help. I shouted out to the world for help, and it came. Even though this past year has been dreadful, I have been given gifts of friendship, time, caring, support, and other resources I never dreamed of because I asked for help in quiet and loud ways.
I am a stoic and an introvert and a problem solver. I have too long believed that I can do everything alone. Nobody can go it alone. If you are suffering silently, living in quiet desperation, please look around and ask for help every day. Keep asking until it comes. It will come.
Until then, listen to loud music, sing along in the car, dance whether or not anyone is watching. Go to therapy even if you need it to take care of yourself or to help you be a better caregiver. Make art, learn the beauty of craft. Love someone, love yourself, love your pets, love someone else’s pets. Read, write, talk, text, reach out every day. And wear lots of perfume. It will feed your soul. It will feed mine too.
My email address is tiffanie darling attagirl geemayle dot com. If you ever want to talk, I’m here for you. 🙂
Dear tiffanie, Happy Birthday, and how wonderful that you’re feeling stronger now after everything you’ve gone through this year. I agree that in tough times we just can’t make it alone and it’s good you’ve reached out and found support. Thanks for your beautiful message.
✌
????
Earlier this morning, I was thinking about you and how I always enjoy your posts here – they are always interesting, thought-provoking, thoughtful, and above all, kind. Thank you for sharing your thoughts this morning, and for being here, at NST, and on earth in general.
What a wise and lovely message. Thank you for sharing these moving thoughts from your dark year. It is a real gift to be able to find sweetness in difficult times.
Happy birthday Tiffanie ! Sending out lots of love to you today !!!
Wishing you a peaceful and happy birthday! ❤️
Happy birthday Tiffanie! Thank you for the reminder of all the important ways we connect to each other and can share energy. I’m glad you asked for help, I’m super glad you got it, and I hope you have a much easier year. Hugs to you!
By the way, younalways smell spectacular.
Me and Otto Mi Gato send you burfday hugs. Okay, it’s just me with the hugs; Otto is deigning to send you a sideways glance.
Happy Birthday! Hope the coming year is an easier one for you and your family.
Happy Birthday Tiffanie! What a thoughtful way to celebrate. I always enjoy your posts and the way you are so positive and thought provoking. You are a great spirit. Enjoy your day ????????????????
Congratulations on acquiring some real wisdom over the years. When terrible things happen you just have to grab on to the people you love and not apologize for it. Happy birthday!
Happy birthday! Your posts always brighten my day. I am glad that your family is on the mend.
Happy Birthday, Tiffanie! May this new year be filled with grace and joy and may you truly enjoy all the wonderful blessings that is available to us humans (and which you so eloquently listed)! It always amazes me that the things that give me the most joy are the simple things: the rustle of wind through leaves, a spot of sunshine on a cold day, the affection of a pet… And any teacher of small children deserves an extra hug and an extra special bottle of perfume!
Happy birthday Tiffanie! Wishing you a happier and more peaceful year ahead.
Happy birthday Tiffanie, and many happy returns. Keep on shining!
A very happy birthday Tiffanie! Hope your next year me be happier.
???? ???? !
Enjoy
As I always say to my kids, life’s got mountains and rivers–gotta get through ’em. Thinking of you and hoping your next year brings you lots of love, peace, and joy.
tiffanie – ♥️ and Happy Birthday. May the coming year bring you more joy and peace.
What a brave and touching post.
I agree with you, dance and listen to music. Friends, love and perfume, always. Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday Tiffanie! I wish you the best and I hope that years to come are full of happiness and peace for you. Your post have touched me greatly and it is good to know that there is always someone like you with a positive attitute and a helping hand. Many, many blessings!
Happy Birthday, dear tiffanie!
I wish you to enjoy every smallest pleasant things, events and people in you life and calmly swim through the hardest times life throws at us from time to time (but, hopefully, you’ve already had your share for many-many years to come).
Happy birthday Tiffany! Thank you for sharing your good message – nobody does it alone! Spray on!
Thank you for sharing this and happy birthday ????????
Happy birthday!!!!
I ❤️ your beautiful and touching message! And here’s to better times ahead ????(or a non alcoholic drink????????if you prefer ????
T-Rex and I are sending you lots of big hugs! I know whereof you speak, and I’m so happy to hear things are moving along in a way that is helpful and beneficial to all. Thanks for posting this, because there is a sad lack of support in western cultures for mental health issues. No one wants to talk about it, for less take action. Three cheers, Tiffanie! ????????????????????????????????????
Best birfday message ever! You’re my heroine ???? Yes, to all of this. Wishing you continued inner strength and joy for years ahead! I’ll play my uke in your honor tonight ????
Thanks for sharing and happy birthday, Tiffanie!
Happy birthday, Tiffanie! Wishing you and your loved ones peace and all around good health for the upcoming year! xxoo
Tiffanie! Happy birthday! And thank you so much for sharing with us. I admire you for being able to ask for help, and I’m very happy you have communities that have risen to the occasion. :fragrant hugs:
Dearest Tiffanie, happy birthday! Wishing you lots of love and joy in the coming year!
Many happy returns of the day!
Here’s to a year of calm and joy–for you and those you love–and no less friendship, time, caring, and support than you found this year when you needed it.
Happy birthday Tiffanie! And thank you for sharing such a lovely personal message. My hope is this next year is filled with joy and laughter…and LOTS of music. And, if needed, you aren’t shy about letting others help you too. I know it’s hard…but sometimes it’s actually a gift to others to let them serve you.
Blinking through my tears to send you a happy birthday wish! Thank you for your courage, resilience, and candor.
I needed to read this, tonight.Thank you.
Happy Birthday Tiffanie!
I’m glad you’re still around!
Vive le Parfum!!!❤️❤️????✌????
Big hugs tiffanie, both to mark your birthday, and for having one of those gut-wrenching years. Very happy to hear that you are finding and getting the support you need! ????????????????
☕☕☕????????????
Coffee
Cocoa
Sesame Seeds
Hazelnuts
Yuzu
Grapefruit
Mint
Is it my grocery list?
Nope !!????????
All on a base of Cedarwood
The weirdly wonderful Very Irresistible for Men Givenchy.
????????????✌
Interesting, I’ve not smelled the mens version, but now I will seek it out.????
Hmmmm, I will have to sniff that out now…
I love saying… Givenchy ????
Ha! Me too, it’s very fancy sounding ????
Wow, that sounds rather weird for a mass market scent! And I mean that in the best way possible. Weird is a compliment in my book!
Yesterday I went out for a bit of shopping and sampled SL Participe Passe. After spraying it on a paper strip, I swooned, and sprayed it on myself lavishly. This is going to be a definite FB very soon in my life! Artemisia, caramel, patchouli. Gorgeous stuff–not too sweet–I didn’t get that much fruit or cumin. WANT.
Oooh, I haven’t sniffed this yet, but I would be thrilled to find a new SL to love.
Me, too – it’s been a while since I’ve swooned over an SL, and I would welcome the experience.
Sounds promising.
How interesting! Been so long since I liked one I’ve stopped paying attention.
Wearing Vol de Nuit Evasion, which fits the CP for me.
After an undergrad degree and an accounting designation, all done while working full-time, I am consciously evading formal structured education for the next few years ( at least)
Doesn’t stop me from taking community and private music lessons and studying several languages in my free time though – can’t evade a questing mind I guess.
Do you have the beautiful blue bottle? ????
Never mind, I was thinking of Mitsouko Fleur de Lotus…………….☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕ STAT ! ????????
Somehow googling Mitsouko Fleur de Lotus led me to the most French of all websites, a fancy poodle breeder who names lots of their dogs after perfumes? https://descheyckensgreydeclea.chiens-de-france.com/caniche,des-cheycken-s-grey-de-clea,chiens-fiche,j-adore-by-dior-des-cheycken-s-grey-de-clea,23406,902476.html
I ❤️❤️ VdNE! You smell heavenly!
I’m trying Nicolai Odalisque for the first time from a decant I purchased last month. Nicolai is fast becoming one of my favorite brands. She does lovely scents, her prices are reasonable and her scents are accessible. Odalisque is very nice, perfect for a warm to hot October day.
Odalisque is lovely. You smell wonderful!
Such a great brand. I really should visit their shop again, next time I’m in Paris.
What a lovely message, tiffanie. Happy birthday to you! May the next year be a better one for you and your family.
Posted in the wrong place – should have been a reply to tiffanie’s comment.
Today I am wearing Miss Dior Originale.
Robin, that is a beautiful tea set !
Lots of cool cups & plates too if you want to waste some time at the Royal Crown Derby website.
Hiram Green Dilettante, a sample from the swap meet that I didn’t even ask for but that might turn out to be my favorite. It’s certainly my favorite orange blossom, which is not saying much because it’s not a note I love… except… maybe now I do after all?
I’ve learned that there are always exceptions.????
Not a huge orange blossom fan but I love Dilettante! You smell fab ????
Funny how notes sneak onto one’s “Likes” list, isn’t it? ????
Then don’t try Arabian Oud Ghroob because you will go back to not liking orange blossom…
A dreary day here but I’m in a lovely haze of Theorema. Be well my fragrant friends!
Ohhh, Theorema is gorgeous! I have the Esprit d’ Ete version. 🙂
Wearing Fille en aiguilles today.
I am doing (or at least I wil try to) this inktober-thing this month.
31 days, 31 drawings.
There…i said it..now I feel even more motivated to do it 😉
I always wanted to draw more. But I am such a perfectionist and I always spend hours on a drawing. Inktober is a good way to learn to do quick sketches in short period of time.
Do you post them anywhere that we could see? I’d love to see what you’re doing and what inktober is all about.
Oh haha totally forgot that part.
https://www.instagram.com/jijifromnl/?hl=en
Oh, great project! I’ll be following you ????
Nice! I did not know about inktober either.
Good luck with Inktober! I remember a few web cartoonists trying to do that in past years.
Twins!
We smell good! 🙂
Fille en aiguilles got me hooked on perfumes (again) a few years ago.
After a long period without perfume, i decided to try out some other brands than the usual stuff…I bumped into a Serge Lutens shelf in the department store, i tried Fille and fell in love! It is still one of my favourites.
Wearing Tubereuse Criminelle from a generous NST-er! Just a few drops of this lasts all day.
Very windy (my least favorite weather) as the last bits of Rosa make their way through my area. But at least it will be cooler (i.e. highs only in the 80s) this week!
I approve!
Currently at the Met, Chubby Buddha wanted to have a pretzel at the fountain. We went to the Asian gardens and looked at the fish , some mummies in the ???????? wing.
New York City life …
In Coco again
Some were asking about the jelly from yesterday : here is what I have
https://www.mariagefreres.com/UK/2-tea-jelly-the-au-tibet-E69.html
Ah, I had a jar of that one!
Coco, pretzels, and the Met sound like a good morning indeed.
Your day sounds great !! And that jelly looks terrific ! Enjoy 🙂
The chubby Buddha is making me smile again, and that tea jelly is also making my day. One day soon, it will meet my toast, and we will have a wonderful relationship ????
Mojave Ghost. I wanted to wear Lonestar Memories but I had a parent conference this morning and thought it might be a bit much. Have a great Tuesday!
Hope the conference went well!
Wearing Pomigranite Noir today. Good stuff ????????I somehow managed to run out of diet coke. I’m really slipping!
You smell fabulous! How could you run out of diet coke!!! ????. Passing you a couple of cans now….
Thanks! I underestimated the intake and grocery shopping trip time.
You absolutely smell like fall today! ????????
I went with Fils de Dieu by ELDO. It feels kind of perfect for another damp overcast NE day.
I love Fils de Dieu!
????
Perfect indeed! I have kinda fallen in love with that one. There’s been a bottle in my amazon cart for a while now. ????
Love this one too. I just bought a decant to stave off a fb for a while.
Did everyone but me know that these are available in 30 ml size? I was gifted a 30 ml bottle of this by a sweet friend on my recent bday!
Fils de Dieu is also really good on snowy winter days. It reminds me that spring and summer will come back, even if it takes awhile…
EdM lotion plus spray because I was feeling sorry for myself and needed comforting. If this doesn’t work I’ll try a cookie.
I hope your day improves.
I vote for a cookie, those always cheer me up.
Hope it will things will be looking up from here. One cookie is never enough.
Cheer up! You will need more than one cookie for sure!
I hope your day gets better 🙂 Maybe a cookie, plus a double fudge brownie !
My Acme has brownie cookies, right next to the vegetables.
So far, I have resisted……..????????
That sounds dangerous!
Eat more than one! Hope your day gets better.
Cookie with milk! Well, that cheered me right up ????
Oh yes on the cookie. I hope you feel better!
Awww, hope cookies and EdM help!
Hope that your day got better!
I was feeling rather unwell yesterday, so I’m still home and recovering. I’m taking advantage of that and testing Reglisse Noire on one hand and Sideris on the other – both from a sample order that could be titled Things Well-Loved on NST That I Have Not Yet Smelled. And both DO smell nice.
Be well soon!
I feel much better already, thank you!
Scent twin! I have been wearing Reglisse Noire for days on end and have almost drained a third of the bottle.
Wow!!!
And I can understand why!
Feel better soon Annikky!
Thank you, I’m on the mend!
I hope you’ll feel better soon: perfumes (wearing them and reading/writing about them) have such a healing power! 😉 )
True that! And thank you, I’m almost back to normal.
Feel better. It’s nice to see your posts again.
Thank you and thank you! The worst of the cold is clearly over, fortunately.
I hope you feel better! Thanks for reminding me about Sideris. That little bottle gets hidden and I forget I have it. I really like it, too.
Thank you, I feel better already! And NST is so useful when it comes to reminding me about things I should test and wear.
Patchouli Tuesday…comparing Coromandel EDT and Tempo today.
Verdict?
Your thoughts?
I’d say they’re not even close. Tempo has none of the sweet, chocolaty Chanel richness that Coromandel does. I’ve not worn it in a while and I usually dab this one but today I sprayed and I’m smelling good to my nose but probably a bit much for my colleagues.
I saw a couple reviews on Fragrantica comparing them but to my nose they are similar only in so far that they both have patchouli. ????
Tempo is floral with the violet and Coromandel has the chocolate goodness.
Most all days now I wear two different perfumes usually from the same family or note to compare. For some, comparison is the thief of joy…like Facebook research suggests. ???? But for me and fragrance, comparison is joy. ????
You had almost the same exact experience with those two perfumes that I did.
Hi all,
SOTD is Le Labo’s Rose 31 edp with a touch of the perfume oil. It’s humid and warm in SF, I am pulling a lot of cumin in this today! 🙂
A warm SF Day is rare- enjoy
I am! Although boy oh boy, does my hair look BIG. 😀
Dark and dreary here today, trying to motivate myself to do some housecleaning unsuccessfully. But wearing my new lovely, Cèdre Sambac, I caved to the lemming.
Ha. Was wondering when that would happen enjoy your new bottle!!!
You smell awesome ! I hope Cedre Sambac motivates you 🙂
No shame in caving! That should be our NST cheer. ????
Couldn’t figure out what to wear today so I went with some vintage Jicky today.
That usually works!
Vintage Jicky is always right 🙂
Great choice !
Les Nuits d’Hadrien.
Tea is Earl Grey vert primeur 2018 by Damman Frères, which is a gentle, crisp tea.
Ha, and I am whacking myself over the head with my extra-bergamot extra-lapsang-souchong Earl Grey 🙂
Started my very early morning in Penhaligon’s Juniper Sling. I like it a lot but it’s fleeting, so now to rummage for something new.
You smell great, I love this one, especially in summer.
In an oldie but a goodie for this weird, warmish rainy day. Sort of a mustard-colored morning. Aromatics Elixir.
A mustard-colored morning does not sound very promising. I’d be keeping an eye on weather apps for alerts…
I’m in Prada Infusion Iris Absolue. I read your post yesterday and thought of buying it for a friend who only wears Escentric Molecules because it smells clean to her.
You can’t go wrong with Absolue… any other suggestions?
I guess it might depend on which EM she wears, but wondering if she would like the regular Infusion even better since it’s lighter?
Was thinking the same thing… thanks!
Rather windy, today. In Molton Brown Rosa Absolute or as I call it the poor man’s POAL.
Ah, then I should try it!
It doesn’t have the baroque aura of POAL but the rose patchouli combo in RA is one of the best in the genre. In fact, the line is very much worth a sniff – I was asking Victoria if she had tried their Ylang-Ylang and she replied she liked it as it reminded her of Aqua Allegoria Ylang-Vanille.
You smell very glamorous Robin. My decant of Absolue run dry long time ago. Maybe it’s time to replenish the stock?
I’m in Moonlight Patchouli from Van Cleef & Arpels today.
I don’t know if I will ever drain this bottle, but if I ever do, I’ll replace it if they still make it 🙂
Robin, do you have a crystal ball? These last few days, I had been perusing steampunk jewelry, specifically owls. If I can make it myself, it’s not worth buying. Many have the pre-fab owl base and then gears and what not layered on.
SOTD = Chanel No.19 EDP
It is PERFECT everyday, specially on a day that doesn’t know what it wants to be. Come on fall, stick to it, OK. There is no need to bring summer back. Seriously!
Questions for hikers and/or trail runners: what is your favorite model of hiking boots and/or trail shoes and why? If you don’t have a recommendation but have a horror story as to what to avoid, do tell! Thank you.
Question about flood insurance (and please email me privately if you think it’s better). I always thought my homeowner’s insurance included flood insurance. Since we’re on higher ground, it’s generally not a concern; however, these days, unexpected things could happen. Thoughts on your experience with flood insurance (general cost and coverage).
Of course I have a crystal ball!
Ha! I’ve sent convos on the more promising pieces asking about metal content (I cannot have nickel next to skin or I get a rash).
I love my hiking boots. Made by Ahnu, which was bought by Teva. They’re lightweight, which is key for me.
Will look it up. Thanks.
My admittedly limited understanding of the homeowner’s insurance we have is that flood insurance is not included. We are also on high ground and not near any bodies of water. But if you have a laundry room that is on an upper floor of your house, then maybe flood insurance is worth looking into.
My laundry room is the basement so that’s something going for me!
Flood insurance is not included for me either, it’s my understanding that if it’s not required it is super expensive.
Thanks, lillyjo. I should also mention that I am not near any body of water either (like jalapeño) but be that as it may, with the weather patterns, the ground could get so saturated that the water will have nowhere to go.
Hmmm, in Florida there are areas zoned as flood zones and separate flood insurance is mandatory. It’s exorbitant. In non-flood zones, it optional but equally as expensive. Flood insurance does not cover any other water damage other than “flood damage.” So, if your roof leaks, or gets blown off in a hurricane, flood insurance does not cover the damages. If your pipes burst and your home floods, it’s not covered. I think it only covers damages from a documented flood (ie: rivers rising over their banks, storm surges, tsunamis, etc). It’s very tricky, very expensive (at least in Florida) and the window of coverage is quite small. YMMV in NYC.
Rainy day today, and wearing some Dusita Erawan as I have run out of my Issara sample and they share a (very) similar base. There was a note that I couldn’t parse out, and I think it’s a combination of coumarin and chocolate, which gives it a gourmandy feel.
I just tried Issara and really like it. Very calming. I’m curious about Erawan now- I love hay notes in perfume.
Hay is the best, isn’t it? I LOVE Issara and it is firmly at the top of my FB list. Hoping that after I achieve some personal goals I will finally feel OK about spending the $$$.
Erawan is worth trying out, but it is a bit of an oddball. For me it shifts between green-herbaceous to vanilla-chocolate gourmand. I am hoping to try St. Claire’s First Cut in the near future (Jessica reviewed early this year).
Great minds think alike. You and Elisa must get your noses on First Cut. Mr Marzipan has Zippo interest in fragrance but he will wear First Cut because it reminds him of when he bailed hay as a teenager and it makes me frisky cause it smells amazing on his skin.
If that isn’t a ringing endorsement, I don’t know what is! 🙂
Mission: First Cut has commenced!
Feeling frisky, eh? We need your 3-eyed owl back. Hoot hoot!
Isn’t that amazing! I once had to see an MD (a specialist) for a number of visits related to a specific injury. I don’t think he wore any cologne or perfume per sé, but he smelled so good I had a hard time focusing. Literally. Then he open his mouth and spoke and his voice just about threw me over the edge. It was very disconcerting and I had to really rein my libido in and was relieved when my injury was resolved and required no further visits. So ODD ????.
Ha! I’ll get around to it one of these days. Hendley Mown is also a photorealistic hay, damp earth scent. Almost too much for me to wear, though, but very autumnal.
Huh. Aroma M Geisha Violet sounds similar in the green violet leaf/ chocolate theme, though it smells unsweetened and more like mud so not really gourmand. Which makes me even More curious about Erawan. Ugh. I was so good about not buying samples for the past year…
SOTD is CSP Amour de Cacao because I need a nice comforting fragrance today. Grey, cloudy, and I’m hoping for buckets of rain, followed shorty there after with nice crisp winter weather.
A rather unpleasant day all around, but it’s a day in my little life and I’m going to make the most of it. ????
enjoy making the most of it..
I did, thank you!
Hoping you get the rain you want, and not a drop more! ☔????????
It just a little drizzle, not buckets, but it’s all good. The day improved as it went on.
Oy vey. One of your enabler pins is for this little number. I hope tomorrow is better. 29 days!
Ha! Thanks for joining my count down. I’m so happy to have an enabler pin. It makes me feel like an official perfumista ????
In ELDO Fat Electrician for a sunny, warm, humid fall day that I am enjoying greatly, since I am busy working outdoors! I wish it would stay like that forever!.
You smell great!
Thank you! ????
Fat Electrician is my one FB from ELdO. It’s great stuff!
Fat Electrician and Jasmine et Cigarette are my only full bottles from ELDO. Both are really good and full bottle worthy.
Wearing Masque Milano Terralba from a swap meet decant. Really nice, easy to wear aromatic, herbal, woody perfume.
I’ve also fallen for MM Hemingway, a very well done straightforward vetiver. The only MM I have yet to try is Luci ed Ombre, and I have a fresh sample of that from a Twisted Lily order that arrived last week. I think I’ll try it out tonight! I think MM is one of my favorite recent niche brands. Times Square, Russian Tea, and Montecristo were not for me but were well made. I’ve pretty much loved every other of theirs. That’s a pretty good success rate.
I’ve just bought Hemingway for my partner so that I can steal it; your description is spot-on. I also own Times Square (didn’t think it was my thing, but am addicted) and Russian Tea and would gladly own L’Attesa, Mandala and Romanza as well. An excellent line. I need to remind myself what Terralba smells like.
Paloma Picasso… My husband said it smelled “fresh”, ???? last year when I wear this someone told me I smelled “clean” – we discussed in here and maybe thought people are searching for something to say when they notice your perfume – and “clean” is a positive adjective
I smell like burnt rubber and motor oil as a beautiful complex floral. I imagine the wife of a mechanic sitting in the office doing bookkeeping work – she’s wearing a floral and it’s mixing with the body shop scents
“Fresh” and “clean” for PP ?!?
I think people are attempting to be “nice”. ???? LOLOLOL ????
(And I do like it.) ????
????????????⛽️????????????⚙️
I’ll take “nice” over “ what is that smell?” ????
Exactly ????
Yep! ????
I remember when White Diamonds came out, and some people said it was “so soft” smell is so subjective. I agree on the burnt rubber and motor oil, you smell great!
Yes, so true and thank you!
I’m wearing Misia today, it’s really beautiful. I’m also back from the Bay Area and the Midwest is really starting to look and smell like fall, although it’s warm and humid today. The sassafras trees in my neighborhood are starting to turn! This is my first time experiencing autumn in five years so I’m pretty excited.
You smell great Stephanie! I will try to borrow some of your excitement about fall 🙂
Balenciaga le Dix today, on a surprisingly sunny day! It was supposed to rain yesterday AND today, and ended up merely being a tad overcast yesterday.
I saw Jessie J last night!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE HER. She is such a spectacular singer and an amazing performer. She’s funny and touching and personable, and her voice is just so EFFORTLESS AHHHHHH. She’s really inspired me to work harder on my solo vocal work and my songwriting.
You smell great! And, I’m not familiar with Jessie J – but how cool to be so inspired ????????
Go listen!!! Even if you don’t end up liking her music, I am certain you’ll be dazzled by her voice. I bet you’ll find you’ve heard some of her music ambiently anyway. But yes, it was wonderful to be inspired by her musicianship and humanity!
SOTD is Satori. I smelled both Santal 33 and Carnal Flower in the wild, back-to-back (Upper East Side Manhattan) this morning.
I admire your ability to ID perfumes on the street. My poor little brain can only come up with “good,” “bad,” and “ick.” Do you ever approach people to ask if you’re unable to identify, or is that a no-no in NYC?
I’ve asked, but depends on the context. I haven’t quite chased anyone down the street to ask, but I would if it were fabulous and I had to know.
I once got off the bus in the morning and a guy in front of me had a delicious trail, so I did ask him- and it turned out he was the home hospice doc I worked with!???? It was an Acqua di Parma scent.
I smell S33 all the time in the wild..even at the farmers market in the city..
My first thought was “pickled woods” and then I realized that the dill thing is why I don’t like it. It’s gotta be their most popular scent. But there are smell-alikes now! I’ve mistaken Commodity Book and JHAG Sunnyside Up for Santal.
In the wild???? Love the expression!
I don’t know who coined that here, but I love it, too ????
I’m wearing Une Rose Chypree, sort of in honor of Andy’s new Rose candle, but really because I wanted to wear Une Rose Chypree.
I went to the symphony last night and met the season ticket holders I’ll be sitting next to until May. The woman seemed very nice and I’ll bet I could wear a bit of perfume and she wouldn’t object.
Une Rose Chypree is gorgeous stuff. It’s a little too warm where I am to consider wearing it, though.
Went pawing through the perfume cabinet this morning, and came up with Rich Hippie Maharishi. It’s making me very happy today – I smell like the love child of a field of wildflowers and a bowl of buttered popcorn. It’s quite cheerful.
Wow, just about forgot about Rich Hippie altogether! And now I can’t remember which one I liked.
I’d forgotten, too!
OJ Frangipani, which I haven’t worn as much this summer as in the past. Warm and humid here, so it seemed like a good idea. It had likely faded by the time I got on the bus….which was so crowded there was a guy up by the front door with a walker – he couldn’t even get to a seat. A man with a cane was by the second door… next bus wasn’t for 15 minutes…
Tuesday movie was A Simple Favor. A hoot. Well played by Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick.
I love Frangipani, I have a sample and a full bottle is on my list! Unless it appears on the split meet! In Europe…
SOTD was Alien Man.First thoughts were “this smells all too familiar”,then it struck me:Revlon Fire and Ice.
Skip.
Busy week at work.My energy levels are at an all-time low.
Dear Apple, your new keyboard layout SUCK.
XO
I remember Fire ???? and Ice!! Blast from the past ????. Hope you can make it through your work week and regain some energy soon.
Me too! I received it as a secret santa gift in the 90s.
I really liked fire and ice, from the bottle. On skin, it gave me a terrible headache. Hope work calms down for you soon.
Hope you can get some rest soon!
Ugh, sorry to hear that you are also dealing with an annoying tech revision. Gmail has changed its format, and not for the better IMO. Hope you get some R&R soon!
Hmmm, did they change it on the iPhone too? It could just be me but I somehow lately keep getting @ when I meant to type an apostrophe. My device of choice is my iPad mini which does not get updates anymore….I really should bring it in to the store and get them to update it…. Unless it is so old that the OS is obsolete and the device is not capable of taking on new updates.
I hear you on the keyboard.
Yikes, I am late today! It WAS Monday’s ugly little sister for me. Wondering if Mr. Jalapeno is coming down with some kind of crud… he came home earlier than usual and said that he wasn’t feeling well. ????
SOTD = Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin, from the sample/decant stash and a generous NSTer. I’m liking it quite a bit, especially the dry down which kind of has a salty skin vibe to me. It smells like I’ve been at the beach today. ⛱????
Wishing Mr. Jalapeno good health and fingers crossed for you too!
Thanks lillyjo! I do NOT want to catch the crud this early in the season! ????
You are late today. Sorry to read that Mr. Jalapeno may be getting sick. Lots of that going around right now. I was sick last week and can’t seem to shake it off…it lingers.
Yeah, it was a weird day. What concerns me is that past experience tells me Mr. Jalapeno usually doesn’t mention anything until he is actually sick. SMH. Time to bust out my echinacea honey!
Eek, I hope you don’t get it and if he does have it, it’s over as soon as it starts.
Hope it’s short lived and not contagious! Yikes! Sending good avoidance of viral enemies vibes!
