Hump Day, and John Locke's birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: still at the beach, still in Hermès Un Jardin Sur Le Nil lotion. It would probably go with some sort of watercolor design on silk, but it's too hot for all that, so it's getting a terry beach towel. I am not doing too well with this week's project.
Reminder: on 8/31 we're doing Fabric Friday...wear a perfume named for some type of clothing or fabric, OR wear a scent you associate with a certain kind of clothing or fabric, OR wear a perfume with a fabric-related note (suede, cotton, etc). Suggested by Glannys.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the round Tie Die Beach Towel is $24.99 at PBTeen.
Wearing Tesori d’Oriente Sandalo del Kashmir & Vetiver
A rather loose interpretation the CP. Kashmir = cashmere wool.
Perfect!
Love the beach towel! Looks similar to my mandala
VS Very Sexy Things Noire Tease (thunk) + black lace
lillyjo, this comes in a plastic atomizer-LOL!
tiffanie- thanks for your suggestion yesterday. I will look for it at my health food store.
And thank you all for support and advice! Slept nine hours straight last night -woo hoo!!!
Glad you were able to sleep! Lol about the plastic bottle, I’m going to check it out next time I’m at the mall.
I happen to like it (the eldest left behind her bottle and told me to thunk it) but then again my tastes run sweet in both food and perfume 😉
Oh, I wasn’t laughing at the perfume, I was laughing because you found something in a plastic bottle so soon after my inquiry. I always liked that bottle because of the lace, and never realized it was plastic.
I missed your inquiry but isn’t the Gucci Bloom bottle plastic?
Oh I know you weren’t laughing at the perfume ????????
Oops sorry lillyjo it posted before I finished..I really hate using my phone versus the computer however your name show up without me having to type the whole thing in LOL ???? ???? what I wanted to say was the bottle is glass and pretty. But she bought it massively reduced last year as a travel set with body lotion so her bottle was plastic
I assumed Bloom was glass. Now I’m going to be double checking everything.
Gucci Bloom is glass dipped in pale pink paint. Glass.
Thanks Bear ????
That beach towel instantly made me think of your mandala!????
Ditto!
????????
????
Yay for sleep !!
I am useless when sleep deprived. I don’t know how folks do it for extended periods
hey cm8! glad you’re sleep was better. That nerve tonic used to be only available online, but the health food store likely has something similar if not that exact one. I really like valerian for calming.
I will check out my health food store. If not I will get it online . Thanks again for the recommendation… sounds like it’s exactly what I need.
Hey, it does! You probably need one then 😉
LOL!!!
Good to hear that you slept well last night!
Thank you Jalapeno!
Wearing Fleur de Cassie and feeling decadent AF. Happy Wednesday troopers.
Wonderful choice, Cassie does feel very decadent, and smart.
Aura by Mugler. Kind of obsessed with this right now and no need to wait for the Aura Homme version as this is perfectly suited.
You smell great! Something about Aura is addicting. I’m still waiting to try the edt.
The refills just came out here in Montreal so I picked one up. I wasn’t too sure about it when I first smelled it, but every time I wore it I got a compliment, so I decided to go for it. Will be curious to smell the edt version when it comes out this fall. I didn’t like the Angel muse edt, too fruity.
Thanks for weighing in on the Muse edt, I thought it might be too fruity.
It does have a way of growing on you, doesn’t it? I find the opening too loud and screechy, but the dry-down is seductive.
I ought to retry Aura when fall weather arrives. I tried it in the height of summer weather, and it nearly knocked me out. ????
Sweet Redemption by By Kilian. A truly gorgeous orangeblossom.
Tea is thé des Moines by Palais de Thés.
You smell wonderful!
You smell beautiful! I wore it on my wedding day.
Running late in Azemour. Over and out.
You smell great SheriG, and hope you got where you were going on time.
I did, by the skin of my teeth! 😀
I finished a sample of Assam of India. I still have the discovery set sample, so I am not worried. I will eventually buy a decant of this at least. Maybe next summer.
I really love it. It’s so perfect for summer! You smell great.
I will be spending the afternoon outdoors with the temps feeling in the 100’s. Complaining will not help and in fact I don’t want to complain. For me winter is around the corner and that gives me the chills. I will take this hot day with a smile on my face. I will think then that I am at the beach getting a nice tan. I surely will. Not the way I want though! Therefore, I am wearing Comptoir Sud Pacifique Aqua Motu, a big favorite beachy scent. Sadly, I am in my last drops. Full bottle “THUNK”. Sorry CM8 and Johanob, but this needs a replacement as soon as possible in order for me to survive! ????????. This is a perfume that needs to be in my collection permanently since I wear it a lot and hot summer dsys are not over yet….At least it can be found very cheap, so I will not break my “no buy” perfume resolution. CM8, I guess we don’t need to report these purchases to Donatella, right?????????????
Ouch! One can pretend, though. And drink lots of iced coffee to stay cool!
I know! It is not fun at all. This is one of the cons of my job. Iced coffee to the rescue for sure! You too stay cool and safe Elisa P.
I am happy that you are enjoying the last drops of a beloved perfume but not happy about you working in this insane heat….stay as hydrated as possible!!!
According to Portia of Australian Perfume Junkies replacing a beloved perfume DOES NOT COUNT as breaking a no – buy!!! so yes, you and I are safe-LOL! and honestly, I don’t think we need to report it to Donatella either 😉
stay cool, my friend!
Purchase approved! ????????
????????
Enjoy the hot summer day! Winter already has it’s bags packed ????⛄
Please, do not say it loud! It might come faster than expected!
Oops! Forgot my own rule. Knocking on wood now.
????????
I’m trying to tell myself that between then and now, we’ll have pleasant fall weather. I’ve tried to do some research re: fall weather in this region but can’t really find anything besides basic stats. My only comparison is Ottawa, where fall weather (in Oct) is really nice – warm and sunny days, though chilly at night. (Winter and snow does come close on its heels, though.)
Coming from a place where fall is gross (just like winter and spring) I’m looking for a silver lining… And fall colors, right? (Something my husband has never experienced, I might add.)
Wow he’s in for a treat! I’m going up to Michigan in two weeks to visit my mother and I’m really hoping for some nice fall weather and good tree colors then, too!
Try to stay cool! At least you’re wearing one of your beachy favs!
Thanks!
Congrats on your full bottle THUNK! Since it is what you call a wardrobe staple, replacing it is no different than buying new clothes when needed. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. ????
Agree! That purchase doesn’t count. Like you, I always stick with it.????
Waiting for my bus in my Trader Joe’s Coconut Body Cream. Have a good day, all.
Ooh. I saw that yesterday and pondered….
springpansy and LizzieB – I may have said it before but you must try organic coconut oil…it smells amazing and really moisturizes the skin in a very natural way…and it would work well with Aloha Tiara which I know Lizzie likes.
Yes, thx. I had already bought this so I will enjoy my tub–it’s really nice.
Adding that it would go nicely with a lightweight sarong at a Hawaiian beach. But alas, I’m at work in downtown Seattle.
Oops sorry for being redundant ???? next time I’m in trader Joe’s I will give it a try. Glad you are enjoying it!!!
I used coconut oil (the solid type) for a couple of years as a moisturizer. I loved it on my skin but did not love the lingering coconut scent. This is my way of supporting your suggestion, btw 😉
I’ve since switched to fractionated liquid unscented coconut oil, which I add perfume to to scent. I’ve also been adding avocado and shea nut oils to the mix, but once I’ve finished those bottles up I’ll go back to straight coconut.
ODdly enough, regular coconut oil doesn’t bother me but fractionated coconut oil gave me a rash. I wonder if they use a chemical in the processing or why it would do that?
Oh, weird. I’ll bet you’re on to something with whatever’s used in the process.
Yes I think they process it somehow so it stays liquid
Ha!!! And I absolutely adore the smell. I could use it every day in the summer and not wear any Perfumes… it’s that good to me…a true beach scent
And kpaint I would also recommend sweet almond oil which is unscented and apricot kernel oils as they are both great for mature skin… you can add things to those too
If you enjoy coconut, have you tried Skin Trip’s Coconut Lotion?
I’ve worn it since H.S. (some 36 years ago), it’s quite nice!
Here’s the link…

Yvresse today, from my previous shopping extravaganza. The first time I ever tried it (from a much evaporated bottle) I couldn’t see what the big fuss is. Now I do.
If I had such a garment, it would probably evoke something in gold mesh. Elegant but also a little sexy.
Or something by YSL in gold lame? Yeah.
Oh, perfect!
I love Yvresse! I wonder why I have not sought out a decant. I think I don’t give enough mental space to non-niche scents, even great ones like Yvresse. You smell wonderful!
It’s pretty fantastic. I’m sad I missed the purge of stock when it was discontinued and could be found at very thrifty prices. Still managed to get a deal though. 🙂
OH NO, it was discontinued????? Gah! I really must make an effort to get some before it gets super expensive!!!!
I think about ten years ago. They reintroduced it in a sort of classics range but I haven’t smelled it.
Hate to tell you but on eBay, a bottle puts you back at least $200 for vintage. But a decant will probably be much easier.
Carnal Flower today which smells great in the humidity. Maybe white chiffon? Happy hump day, all!
Ohhhhhh! I forgot a friend sent me a mini bottle of Carnal Flower. I’ll have to find it as it is HUMID here. ????????????????????????
Ooh, nice! From the coffret?
It’s smelling especially cool and green to me today.
Not sure but I’m glad he thought of me. ????
Ooh, nice. White chiffon sounds perfect. I’ll have to line that one up for this week. Thanks for the reminder.
Carnal Flower blooms beautifully in heat and humidity. Great choice!
Bronze Goddess with Plumeria floral water layered over. I think I’ll just keep spritzing that floral water all day long…. I should put it in the fridge…
You smell super good.
Plumeria floral water sounds divine! Also sounds like a Hawaiian vacation souvenir. Can one buy it stateside?
At one point it was a souvenir, but this bottle was ordered online with other items. Their hair conditioner is fabulous for my fine hair. Not heavy. Great smell.
https://www.honolulusoap.com/products/bath-body-gifts-hawaii-hawaiian-plumeria-lei-floral-water-bodymister?variant=598797857
Just noticed it’s on Amazon too… they charge a bit more but it’s available Prime… I may look at some of the other products. I’ve had their candles in the past…
Thank you!!
You can put your bottle in the fridge and spray it on as a cool mist (that is actually what I do with my Bronze Goddess when I take her to my tropical vacations).
Yes! I just have to clean out the door of the fridge… it’s on my to do list. I also want to put my Eau de Cloître in there. It’s such a nice, refreshing rose scent.
That sounds like a fantastic combination!
SotM = l’air du desert marocain, just a dab
A change back to warm weather today, I wanted to smell LADDM in the heat. The balance of energy and calm in this scent knocks me over every time.
Love that beach towel! My sister has a big tie-dyed sheet she bought at a Grateful Dead concert in her wilder days. Back then that sheet was the ground cover she used under her tent as she followed the tour. Now she uses it as a picnic blanket for the kids to eat on at the beach and park. Life’s too funny.
Oh, and speaking of calm, anyone have a favorite relaxing scent to recommend? I’m making a list.
I enjoy essential oils to relax at night….lavender, patchouli, frankincense and even the vanilla bean oil I make (marinated vanilla bean in a carrier oil).
thanks, cm8! Agree about lavender, I use it almost every day. My mom has a bottle of frankincense eo. I should borrow it and give it a try.
Just a dab of LADDM is perfect in the summer. I’ve been keeping my mini on my nightstand and dab my wrists at bedtime some nights.
I find lavender relaxing. I know some hospitals are using lavender patches to help patients relax post op.
Caron Pour un Homme maybe…?
(Autocorrect reeaally wants that to be U.N.)
Isn’t that LADDM mini just perfect? I love it.
I know I have a sample or decant of Pour un Homme. I will dig it out. Thanks, madtowngirl!
Scent twins! It’s not quite as hot here today but it looks fallish and I feel fallish, lddm is a great choice.
I like lavender and incense for calming scents. SL Encens et Lavande is the gold standard imo because it’s both. Second Caron Pour Homme for lavender. CdG Kyoto is my favorite calming incense.
Hi laddm twin! We smell fan-tas-tique.
Thank you for the E&L reminder. I have not had good luck with SL in general but that one was on my radar a while ago. I probably have a sample I’ve never cracked open.
Kyoto is also a great idea, I’ve added it to my sampling list too.
Oh, PS – love the story about your sister’s tie dye 🙂
heh-heh, now that she and I are getting older and the sibling rivalries are falling away, my sister has shared some pretty amazing stories that had a tie-dye background. 😉
I love LADDM in the summer. Our weather here went from oppressively muggy, to hot and humid, then yesterday it dried right up and was hot with dry winds (and quite roaring winds at that.) It felt like being in the desert, and was the perfect weather for LADDM. Alas, I have none – just ACdC. I find ACdC easier to wear in some respects, but also lacking the magic of the original.
I’m hoping to acquire some in the swapmeet. Though, come to think of it, I could just buy a sample from Andy’s website. Derp.
Oh, and I ended up wearing Terracotta. I know you’d approve 🙂
LADDM is so good in the heat!
The mini bottle is still up at the tauer website. That’s what I use, it’s perfect for dabbing, and counts as a large sample a la hajusuuri. 😉
+1 for Terracotta, highly approve!
I’d add AG Encens Flamboyant and Burberry Brit Rhythm for Women to your list of calming scents. What I perceive as calming does tend to vary with the seasons. These two are good for spring & summer.
Thanks Jalapeno! Another incense to add to the list.
And I just pulled out my sample of Brit Rhythm to try tonight. 😀
Agree on lavender for relaxation. I like Guerlain Lavande Velours (discontinued but you can get a cheap mini at luxuryperfume). Ashoka relaxes me. And L’Heure Bleue.
thank you beck_hen!
I love many scents from Guerlain, I will seek out Lavande Velours and also pull out my bottles of L’Heure Bleue, it hadn’t occurred to me but yes it does have a calm feeling. 😉
Ashoka goes on my list too. Yay! for another incense to try.
I’m in TF’s Cafe Rose which is pretty dang big and bold, much like the hot pink dress I’m wearing today, which I’m fairly certain is made of polyester. I really like Cafe Rose, but not as much as Noir de Noir and I don’t think I need two TF rose scents.
☕☕☕????????????
Chamomile & Honey ???? mousse to oil, B&BW.
Smells as advertised.
Fabric is golden sun-warmed hirsute skin. LOLOLOL ????????
(No Silence of the Lambs references inferred. ????????????????????????????)
????????????????????
Wow that sounds great Bear!!! I am going to have to give it a sniff next time I am at B &BW
I think it is now out of stock at the stores.
“It rubs the lotion on it’s skin…”
Mousse to oil? I like the sound of that.????????
This is actually my favorite of the range. The last time I used it (last week) I accidentally pressed the dispenser a little too hard and I ended up with a huge mound of product but it all got absorbed over wet skin
It is quicker to use than even Neutrogena Sesame Oil.
I liked the tuberose version too, but they had only the tester, no stock.
Can’t recall the name, but it smelled of tuberose without that note being listed.
????????????
Pink Magnolia?
Yes !! Thanks ! It smelled like tuberose 10 minutes on my arm.
I went on a bender at Ulta and Sephora yesterday. The shame is real.
I’m in SL Vetiver Oriental (love this stuff and do NOT regret the FB purchase!) for a day of trying to empty out the van in hellish temps to prepare for the build starting next week.
I’m meeting a fellow traveler for dinner and cocktails at a local restaurant this evening. Nice to meet someone my age as most travelers are in their 20’s.
But what did you get?????
Yes I want to know too! I’m not shopping anything till Ulta’s 21 days sale next month so I want to shop vicariously thru others ????
Ooh, thanks for that reminder!
Good point! I thought it was the Sephora VIB now, but found out after I checked out it hasn’t started yet… I may do the shifty thing of returning/repurchasing if it saves me enough money…????
That’s what I’d do…
Do it!
I second lillyjo..do it!!!!????????????????????
Two (!) tinted moisturizers, a very expensive and unnecessary eye shadow, a lipstick, a liquid lipstick, a highlighter, and a bronzer. I need none of these things. This, after I have just done a very thorough deep clean of my entire makeup traveling bag to winnow it down. Most of the time I look like a bag lady. I wear makeup as a public service so I don’t scare the young kids and my sick patients.
My problem is my skin keeps changing- colors, textures, and to add insult to injury, I broke out in a couple of massive zits due to hormones. Pretty small problems in the grand scheme of things, but a PITA none the less.
I did sniff some perfumes, but nothing really caught my fancy. ????????♀️
My skin keeps changing, too. It’s expensive to have to keep switching things up. Not to mention that I need to have like 7 layers of product on my skin to keep it moisturized all through the night. *sigh*
Yes, very frustrating! Also, I want products that multi-task. Like the tinted moisturizers- they both have a decent spf so I can get light coverage, moisture, and spf at the same time. The older I get, the more makeup looks heavy on my skin. I would recommend Paula’s choice for skin care because her range is vast, the products work well, are unscented, and cover the entire spectrum of skin issues. More affordable because less marketing and fancy packaging.
Nice haul!! You can treat yourself to some new make up from time to time. I am selfish in that I don’t care who I scare. Right now all I have is what middle marzipan left behind for me.. one concealer one Maybelline mascara and one blush… they all sit in my medicine cabinet LOL ???? ????
Nice! I need to find a few holy grail products that are work horses and just stick with it! Did you cull your makeup or have you always been a very light user?
Years ago I was the make up queen. But then somewhere along the way I lost interest and time (takes a lot of time to paint your face every morning). Mini Marzipan picked up the torch and I would just borrow stuff from her when I needed to so basically had nothing of my own. My oldest is also like me. Zippo interest. Our middle marzipan keeps both of us supplied with something. I kinda just go with what she gives me and 9 times out of 10 I wear nothing.
Yeah, my makeup bag always seems to be overflowing, no matter what I cull! I don’t wear eye makeup so that helps some.
You smell great!
Oh, I have a list started for the VIB sale, no perfume is on it (yet)….
On the list is: Clinique Take The Day Off balm, Tarte Knockout toner,
Drunk Elephant C Firma Day Cream and Armani lip balm in this kind of coral/fuscia pink.
That cleansing balm is the bomb.com! I use it regularly. Should have bought another jar, too. ..I may have to go back for seconds…! I haven’t tried the Drunk Elephant product, but have heard great things about it.
I haven’t tried the balm but I love the Drunk Elephant C Serum, it produces beautiful results.
Vanille Insensee. Thunk.
Got a another compliment at work already this morning.☺️
You know you need to get that big bottle, right?
You smelled great in your “THUNK of the day”!
Hump Day;
1) Am in Chanel Eau Premiere because why not? It is going to be a very pleasant 80F and sunny, so this is just perfect.
2) I did a large load fo laundry yesterday, and I wonder if fabrics themselves have a scent, or do we add certain scents to fabrics to associate that scent to a fabric? For example, I did all the slipcovers on the sofa AND my bed linen (it took all night) and I used unscented Method detergent, vinegar, bleach, Shout (a stain remover) and lavender water spray. So all my sheets and my slipcovers smell of all these things, very faintly. IS that melange what we are going for when we talk about a ‘clean’ scent or a ‘linen’ scent?
That sounds like a nice smell; how do you add the lavender? I would like to add a subtle scent to some laundry loads, but I never like the detergent scents. Any suggestions?
You can buy lavender water spray at most stores OR make your own using grain alcohol and lavender essential oil. After the final rinse, I sprayed the scented water on the sheets and slipcovers and then placed into the dryer until damp/dry; for the slipcovers I placed back on the sofa cushions so that the shape could be maintain. The cotton sheets and duvet cover I steam ironed and then made the bed. Vinegar and bleach smells do linger and combine with lavender a bit but it all seems to fade into a ‘cloth’ scent.
You smell wonderful.
I am duly impressed by your steam ironing of your linens! I’d also guess that that steam smell is a scent associated with clean bedding?
I recently started using soap nuts. I’m not sure why, exactly, but I think I’ll stick with them. They leave a faintly “clean” scent, but not one that’s particularly discernible. (Come to think of it, I may have bought them because I wanted a scentless laundry wash…?)
I also recently bought a clothing steamer. It does much better on knits (which is what I mostly wear) than an iron does – plus it’s about a million times faster.
When I bought the house I bought these expensive bougie sheets and they feel like magic if you do a quick steam iron. The steam really does add to a ‘cloth’ smell!
I also have a clothing steamer and I use that on sweaters for a quick clean.
Soap nuts sound intriguing! I have also used Dr. Bronners Castile Soap- it is available unscented and you can use about the about the house.
https://shop.drbronner.com/catalog/product/view/id/25/s/baby-unscented-pure-castile-liquid-soap-32-oz/
I have been tempted to try soap nuts because they are so easy to travel with. Do you feel like they get your clothes really clean?’
Late to respond, but yes. My husband was slow to convert, but he gave them a thumbs-up recently. It’s what we’ve been using on his dirty, sweaty work clothes. (He’s been working outside all summer.)
And, yes – super easy to travel with and they last forever. Also environmentally friendly.
Sotd is No.18, which I am pairing with brocade fabric. I found my samples, yay! But got half a mile down the road before I realized I forgot my glasses! Lol, I’m losing it, I tell ya, losing it????
That’s why we old people have half a dozen pair of glasses! 🙂 Purse, nightstand, car, desk, top of nightstand, bathroom…
I really need to sign up for eye insurance this year. My eyesight seems to have changed alot.
Yay you found it!!!
I know right? I admit to slight panic.
Hurray for finding your Chanel samples! That’s gotta count for something.
Hope so. I’ve been so scatterbrained latley! I just had to retrace my steps to the kitchen! Lol
Yeah, I’ve had quite a few brain farts lately. I’m blaming it on the weather. ????????
Lillyjo, to answer your question from yesterday, the perfumes missing in action are: PHI Une Rose dr Kandahar, Atelier Cologne Jasmin Angelique and Sous le toit de Paris (the 200 mL bottle).
Morning everyone!
SOTD is Lancome’s Sikkim EDP.
Workout was 40 minutes of body weight exercises.
Today’s smoothie is kefir, cherries, black berries, vanilla protein powder and spinach. 🙂
Ready for a nap. 😀
Smellin’good!!! And your smoothie sounds delicious
Thanks CM8! I don’t know if you have a Sprouts Market near you, but their frozen fruit selection is pretty nice. 🙂
Aeon 001. The only fabric or clothing I can think of that matches is a large silk scarf–that’s something that can change shape and use with every wear, and even from hour to hour. Possibly some sort of shot fabric, that catches the light in different ways–copper and greened-copper. (huh, that works for MEM as well, just in different colours)
and a question:
So, if someone was to buy a bottle of perfume as a present, does Donatella need to know? How about if that present was bought at least partially so someone could also help themselves to it, you know, while it was sitting on the shared shelves?
Asking for, er, a friend. Ahem.
As I understand it, purchasing or receiving gifts do not count. However, it is polite to share what the gifts are because we all want to know ???? tell your friend????
A wee bottle of Dior Homme EDT.
(When I presented it, pure deadpan snark: “oh phew, I thought we were in danger of running out of perfume.” )
LOLOL
Nope, does not count.
Huzzah!
Hey, Aeon 001…..it does not get a lot of mentions. I have a sample somewhere….I remember liking it
But mostly I just needed to compliment you on your very awesome avatar. I am a big Eeyore fan (mostly in EH Shepard style, of course). ????
Ditto the love for Eeyore, my favourite Pooh character in the Pooh books.
🙂
I LOVE Aeon with a mad love. I wish I hadn’t fallen so hard for something that was a tiny limited edition. But after working through a decant, and finally landing a bottle I decided to just use and enjoy every drop of it and do my best not to hoard it.
also, aye, Eeyore 🙂 Me and eeyore have a fair bit in common. I always loved those E.H.S. illustrations and… have never seen the Disney cartoons.
Nope no reports necessary which is how I have avoided reports in the past few polls LOL . now y’all know my secret!!!
It’s going to be cool and rainy today so I am wearing Volnay Brume d’Hiver.
Can’t believe I am jealous of cool and rainy, but at this moment I am.
I am so ready for fall; I am not built for mid 90s and humid!!
SOTD is Soivohle Orris Ochre. I like this one a lot – perhaps reminiscent of a brown tweed.
I like that name, too.
Wearing Lady GaGa Eau de GaGa, ignore all the perfume doublespeak, it is a fougere. Opening with a pleasantly realistic lime note, some leather and finishing with pretty much the same, I am reminded of a pressed, white oxford cloth shirt and a leather jacket. Cheers!
Nice visual!
In Gourmand Coquin and smelling deeeeelightful. I was going to say that I don’t have a textile association with this one, but actually, the day I discovered it smelled wonderful in summer weather was last year on the 4th of July. I was wearing a sleeveless, high-necked, white lace blouse and I do associate this with that particular garment. I’m also now reminded that we gorged on freshly-steamed Dungeness crab that day. *heaven*
I just realized that I’ve been in a bit of a perfume doldrum because my primary collection is stored off-site. And by off-site, I mean the other bedroom, where I seldom go poke around. Outta sight, outta mind and all that. I need to swap my seasonals out before summer’s over, methinks.
You are smelling deeeeelightful! 🙂
“Sleeveless, high-necked “, eh ?
SSS Voile de Violette
Beautiful. No one does violets like Laurie did.
The countdown to London begins soon, does’t it
Another day in the steambath that is Montreal. I am inside under the AC working on home improvement projects, so I hosed myself down with a small decant of PG Felanilla that I plan to thunk befor bed tonight.
I have a row of samples/small decants lined up on my dresser that I am working my way through, the goal is to thunk them all by the end of September in an attempt to reduce their number.
Wow Cazaubon you are on a roll!!! Thunk away!!!
I love felonies! You smell great!
????And here I was thinking you were a law-abiding citizen ! ???????? LOLOLOL ????????????????
Ha!!!!!
Will T-Rex be implicated as well?
Double HA!????
I hate spell check ????
triple HA!!!!
Hectic period at work and in my personal life.
Mostly fun and good stuff, thankfully, but it leaves me with no time at all to browse perfume blogs. I am really behind on recent releases and news. And I miss you guys of course.
Fille en aiguilles today!
I like Fille. Very serene.
Yeah, scents like this bring me comfort and calm 🙂
At least you smell great! Take care of yourself and come back.
Thank you! And of course i’ll be back. ????
Keep calm and perfume on!
That is a good motto to live by ????
SOTD sjp Stash, I’ll have to pair it with the black organza from the ads 🙂
Stash has been overwhelming me lately, and I just seem to get a LOT of cedar, but someone mentioned it has pistachio in it, and I did in fact smell that when I put it on – the mind is amazing.
I also read a review that recommended layering this with E&J Black Nirvana, so I am doing that too – I’ll pair that with purple organza because of the violet.
I think the trick to wearing Stash for me is MODERATION.
I could see how Stash could be overwhelming – it has a very strong presence. I use it primarily as a closet spray, for which it is fantastic. 🙂
that’s interesting – you mean you basically use it as a room spray? I also have the oil, that might work better on skin for me, to target home much goes on. Also, wondering if cedar scent can ward off moths in the same way cedar does?
Yep, I use it as a room spray, just always in my closet. I have the oil as well – I don’t use it much, because it requires application with the hands, and I don’t like having scent on my palms.
Not sure about the moth issue. Can they be faked out with synthetics? 🙂
Can you apply the oil from a Q-tip or decant the oil into a rollerball?
Ha! I am laughing at what your skin gets from Stash! First time I wore it I got pickles. But since I like pickles I kept wearing it….so liberally that I finished the one ounce in about three weeks.
Pickles! I’ll have to sniff for that next time 🙂 I really admire your perfume usage tenacity CM8!!
I literally have scent devouring skin so I can get away with a lot more sprays than most folks
Stash was overwhelming on me. My mother was shopping with me the day I tried it and she thought it was overwhelming as well. She asked me to try and scrub some off as the car was getting permeated as well.
SOTD = Prada Infusion Mimosa

How many sprays? Unfortunately this is a mimosa disappearing act on me.
10 sprays. This is why most perfumes are sold in 100mL bottles!
I was eyeing a bottle yesterday with that 15% off eBay coupon but decided that the summer was almost over (unlike my small decant of this scent), so I’ll look for the bottle before the next spring, I think (unless I find it earlier for the price I wouldn’t be able to say “No” to 😉 ).
You smell great!
Thank you. These and the Olfactories Collection ???? pop up on Fragrancenet.
Sounds like you went for something light and refreshing in the scent department today, too.
I did. I also tried to make the association with Big Bird’s body.
I’m trying Commodity Velvet from a sample to fit the poll. Eh. It’s a niche-ish woody thing with too much of a nut note, IMO.
Commodity has never really worked for me. Kind of meh. ????. In fact, I have a Discovery Set I put aside for the next freebie meet
I don’t like the name of the line either!
I’ve never noticed before, but you’re right! Bad connotation.
La petite robe noire black perfecto …not perfecto unless you prefer a tutu to a plain black shift.
I’m not sure what you’re implying there… you don’t like it? Seriously, just confused.
Just that for me the perfect black dress would be either an above knee sleeveless shift or an Audrey Hepburn Breakfast at Tiffanys gown and that I don’t visualise either of those dresses from this perfume. The cherry is very sweet to me – and I’m not big on cherry – and for me it conjures up images of black tulle tutus (Black Swanns) or naughty teenagers – which may or may not be a good thing
Ha, I like it better than you do, but a tutu does fit.
Oh, goodness. I’ll have to read a review now!
ha! yes! I like it, but that really works as a match–LPRNBP is a lot frothier and girlier than it thinks it is.
Not participating today. Testing a bunch of things to see if they are splitmeet worthy. I think I have a couple of winners 🙂
So what were your winners? Do tell!
I’m wearing Penhaligon’s Elixir from a sample. It’s a nice rose-incense but not my thing. It’s definitely conjuring up associations with priests in robes and skirts and a procession with little bells, a coffin, candelabra, and altar boys. All that was at a high-mass Episcopal funeral I went to of a neighbour who died. Not my kind of ceremony but sometimes that solemnity does seem appropriate. I’m in a down mood because (a) I keep having itchy rashes and don’t know why, and (b) I’m in a role in a professional society where some of us are being blamed for something in a public way that treats us as either incompetent or malevolent, or both, and it hurts. Issues are involved that can’t be clarified for legal reasons and it’s been making me lose sleep. (Maybe it’s making me itchy too?)
I liked Elixir better than you did, but doesn’t matter for either of us since it’s gone!
Sorry about your various troubles though! And I am very sure stress can make all sorts of histamine processing issues worse.
Unfortunately, I think that stress can cause itching and mystery rashes, too. I had that happen once in college during an extremely stressful semester. I think I ended up using calamine lotion to calm things down.
That’s no good. Public accusations are very undermining and so hurtful. I hope the nastiness disappears quickly. Stand your ground!
Hoping both a, and b get resolved soon.
Yikes. I hope the professional association issue gets resolved quickly!
I grew up going to an Episcopalians Church in Sundays ((Roman Catholic School). I recall all the ceremonies. I have 2 cousins who are Episcopalians priests.
I swear ???? I did not pluralize Episcopalian!
Spellcheck has it in for you and Deva today!
Wearing Rose Trocadéro by Le Jardin Retrouve. It is one of the roses that smell great on me without turning soap-y.
I’m really bad with associating anything with anything but that fabric project left me completely puzzled. I know a couple of perfumes with the names that would fit but I do not own any of them (well, maybe a sample or two but I’m not going to wear them other than for the project day itself).
Ditto. I can’t associate perfumes with fabric. Maybe colors or sounds, but perhaps I’m lacking in the imagination department.
I think it’s because for some people, including me, perfumes often seem to involve tactile properties. They are heavy or light, smooth or rough, silky or scratchy, and so on. I’d think of one perfume to associate with kitten fur, for example, vs. another type to associate with a different texture, like a dusty old manuscript in an antique shop. I’m not at all a literal synaesthete (sp?) but in the same way some seem to go with tastes, etc., some have texture qualities, and so do fabrics. Heavy is more wool and light is more silk, and so on.
Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme today
You smell wonderful! That’s a favorite rose perfume. ????????
I’m in a mystery perfume today. I was cleaning out my closet recently and gathering things for donation, and found a dabber sample with a Chanel lid. It’s an oriental for sure, so might be Coromandel? I’ll never know.
Anyway, the weather cooled off considerably with the showers that roared through, so it’s 82 degrees outside! Quick…pull out a snuggly perfume! ???? ❄️
Did you THUNK the mystery sample?
Yes, actually I did! It was a nice surprise, kinda like finding folding money in a winter coat pocket in September. ????
Not nearly as humid as yesterday. The heat index “only” made it to 104F. Thankfully, this dangerous weather is supposed to be over with after today. Then it becomes merely unpleasant. I’m hoping that everyone who has to work outside is staying well hydrated and can take breaks in the shade as needed. ????????????????
SOTD = ‘Replica’ Tea Escape EdT, from the sample stash. I noticed a great, but fleeting mint note with this one today. No fabric to go along with this one.
Yowza that’s hot!!!!
Yeah, and icky too! Hope that fall won’t be like this.
It was steamy this morning. It is still all kinds of yuck!
Cold front here tonight, hopefully it’s headed your way.
Fingers crossed! ????
The day has completely gotten away from me! I’m wearing Bas de Soie from a dabber sample, and I might be in love. I’ve had this sample for a while but initially dismissed it, so this is only my second time wearing it. The beginning stage is my favorite when the iris is most prominent. It actually reminds me of my beloved and discontinued Ava Luxe Hong Kong Garden. Weirdly, 8 hours after application it’s still going strong and reminds me of Vivienne Westwood Boudoir.
In Iris Prima again. This is becoming one of my favorite recent perfumes. Bottles are so cheap at the discounters. I definitely see a tester in my future.
I eye that one alot, it seems really nice.
That one snuck up on me too – I love it more each time I wear it.
Another late post for me. SOTD was Equistrius. Going strictly for an association to it’s name, the matching fabric is a saddle blanket. Although, it doesn’t smell remotely horsey to me.
No horse in sight, but very lovely none the less.
Sprayed on some Chanel No. 19 edp tonight after a super busy day.
Earlier this week my co-worker friend brought me about 20 pounds of peaches from a tree in her backyard. I tried one today at coffee break; it was probably the best peach I’ve ever had! And if we don’t get through all of them I can make some sangria.
