Ready or not, it's Monday again. It's also Root Beer Float Day. Birthdays: Andy Warhol, Lucille Ball, Alfred, Lord Tennyson. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: partial credit for Friday's project with April Aromatics Jasmina.
Reminder: on 8/10, wear a fragrance by Atelier Cologne, Acqua di Parma or Amouage, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter A.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Black Perfecto, has anyone smelled the EdT version?
I forgot to ask this on the lazy weekend poll, but I am looking for any suggestions for a nice museum in Toronto. I have a day to myself sans babies and Mr. L. I wanted to have lunch somewhere and get lost in a wonderful museum. Or I can visited a nice shop perfume or otherwise.
I haven’t been there, but friends visited the Bata Shoe Museum this summer and enjoyed it. I got to go to the Hockey Hall of Fame (but compensated with a quick visit to the Guerlain boutique).
I’ve also been to the Bata and it was a lot of fun!
Ok!
Thanks!
I have never been to a shoe museum
How was the Guerlain boutique there?
Yes, briefly: the top notes seemed a little different–more rose, less cherry in the EDT–but otherwise it really felt the same to me
Art Gallery of Ontario is a major art museum. It’s been years since I went there but it’s very engrossing, as I recall. And it now has a Frank Gehry-designed extension that looks very interesting in photos. See here for more info: http://ago.ca/about/about-the-ago.
Wow..looks good! Thank you for the suggestion
Totally agree and highly recommend.
The science museum is fun too: https://www.ontariosciencecentre.ca/
Or the ROM. The AGO has more art though.
Super hot and busy day. In Atelier Cologne Oolang Infini. THUNK!
Have a nice Monday everyone!
Love the sound of that think????????????
thunk not think…so bad at typing on my phone LOL
I am sure to love to think about that THUNK”! ????
“you love”
Ha ha ha!!!! You know me too well…LOLOLOL!!!!
Busy twins!????
Hi, busy twin! ????
I do not have a lot of Amouage fragrances and even fewer Atelier Cologne ones, which means I will mostly wear Acqua di Parma this week.
SOTD is Acqua di Parma Colonia.
I do not own a single full bottle Amouage, but do have some samples floating around if I can find them. I will definitely wear my one full bottle AdP, Iris Nobile.
I have only decants and samples too. I just feel it is too hot for my Amouages. They are so… substantial. Well, I could wear that sample of Sunshine Man, but I am not particularly impressed with it. We shall see.
Too hot here too! Then again, I may not go outside all day, we’ll see.
Oh you smell good. Such a classic.
Well, I didn’t see the project but I’m wearing Eau d’Hadrien – not small but (used to) start with “A”! Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday – we had a great dinner with friends and I chose OJ Frangpiani. Feeling my age today – yesterday was the football kickoff picnic which I helped organize – a lot of work in setup and takedown. Girding myself for the stink of football practice which starts tonight for my 9th grader.
Happy belated birthday!
Happy belated birthday! Frangipani was a nice choice for celebrating.
Happy Belated Birthday, MMKinPA! ???????? Good luck dealing with post-football boy funk…
It’s a little too early in the morning for Amouage, so I’m going with Poivre Samarcande, which is more wearable in this pre-coffee stage of the day.
I am shocked you even post pre-coffee! You don’t have coffee before anything? (I start the tea before I even turn on my computer.)
Agree, the first thing I do in the morning is get coffee going. Unless it’s an emergency I don’t even go to the bathroom before making coffee.
Ha ha, I have to feed cats before I can do anything else at my house!
Me too, or I’ll have an angry mob with pitchforks!
I do turn on the coffee maker to get things started. We can’t have delays at our house!
I hear that. I can start the water for coffee, but at least one cat will stand at the entrance to the kitchen staring at me….
Also a member of the “must feed cats first” club! Otherwise, at least one of them will complain non-stop.
My nephew made the mistake of feeding 2 out of 3 dogs. The 3rd one (my avatar) was elsewhere in the house gallivanting when he smelled the food but by then, there was none left. The sassy dog that he is went up to my nephew’s room and howled and barked for 1/2 hour.
Jour d’Hermes for me today (our heat wave is back).
Cousins in Jour Gardenia! Our heat wave is back, too. Yay!
Haha, I was thinking about you as I read the forecast this weekend, Kpaint!
????????☺
Happy birthday, Lucille Ball, the original producer for Star Trek! (Never mind that she was initially operating under the impression that the show was about stars, aka celebrities! :D)
Too hot for anything but Frederic Malle Eau de Magnolia today. Can anyone share their impressions of Sale Gosse? It hasn’t hit our local Malle counter yet, and I’m so intrigued by the violet bubblegum description.
Was she really? That’s an excellent story.
Sorta by accident we turned on the Vitameata-whatever episode the other day. I’d almost forgotten how hysterical she was.
Oh, my husband would love to know that bit of trivia!
Hi! I’m wearing Branch and Vine.
Ah, I have smelled that one from a sample. It’s from a natural perfume house, correct?
Yes – Providence Perfume Company, one of my favorites
Yum!!
I decided to do a week of my Atelier Cologne discovery set, which despite being the first discovery set I ever purchased, has languished unused. I went through the whole thing once and then never really used it again. I’m going to choose my favorites from the set to wear this week. First up is Cedrat Enivrant. This one is a love for me, especially in the summer. I will definitely be buying at least a decant of this.
Shame that one isn’t in the 10 ml travel spray (or at least, I don’t think it is).
I think it was, at one time. Now Sephora only carries the big honking 200 mL bottle.
Thanks! Maybe it will come back.
I got a 30-mL bottle of this, and I don’t think I’ll have a problem getting through it 🙂 it was my go-to scent last summer! A tip to check out eBay for a bottle, if you feel comfortable buying from eBay. When I was looking for my 30-mL bottle, eBay had a lot of cheap options.
Happy Monday all! SOTD is Réglisse Noire by 1000 Flowers, it’s been a while since I’ve worn this and I love the anise note.
Today I’ll have a root beer float in honor of the day, it’s my favorite sweet treat! 🙂
Reglisse Noire is in my top five…you smell great ???? and you get a huge enabler pin for smoothies. We’re on day three and I just picked up a pineapple for tomorrow. ????
Sweet! I love collecting enabler pins. 🙂
Today’s smoothie was kale, spinach, peaches & mango with kefir yogurt and a shot of flax seeds… between this and the Cuban coffee, I have super amounts of energy!
Mine was blueberries, kale, avocado and banana…looking forward to the pineapple one tomorrow…just got a fresh pineapple and will be cutting it up tonight!
I was going to wear Lexington Avenue in honor of Andy Warhol’s birthday but can’t find my decant!
That’s a good one too but I LOVE Reglisse Noire…for the life of me I cannot understand why this one is so under the radar???
SOTD: Atelier Cologne Grand Neroli
This is the only perfume I have that fits the CP, so I’m going to pull a CM8 and wear it all week 🙂 My travel-size bottle was one of my first perfume purchases and I’ve got probably ~15ml left. Once this is gone, I’d like to replace with either Hermes Eau de Neroli Dore or Eau d’Orange Verte.
I liked that one a lot but have never bought any more of it. From my recollection, Phlur Olmsted& Vaux is similar. Has anyone tried both?
I did but don’t recollect similarity between the two. Some reviews say o and v is similarity to allure Blanche
You go girl!!!!
And it’s nice to have my name attached to a deviant behavior Love it LOL ????????
Ça Sent Beau. I never knew the original Kenzo for women, so I guess this is as close as I can get.
And you’re closer than I am 🙂
Super busy day for me. Right now, sitting at the Secretary of State, trying to get my son a state ID card. Sotd is my favorite grab and go, Coco Noir. I am saving my Ateliers for later in the week. Hope everyone has a great day!
Have a good day Lillyjo! You smell fantastic!
Thanks! Almost done for the day. Hope you aren’t still at work.
On my way home now!
Yay for an “early” night!
Hope it was not as long of a wait as the DMV!
2 hours and 15 minutes! I almost missed my other appointment.
Another all natural scent from Providence Perfume Co – I’m test driving Lemon Liada, the “lemon liar” (no actual lemon in the formula) from a sample I got last week. It’s beautifully done, and I love the verbena note in it, but it’s more about mimosa than any kind of citrus. It’s limited edition; the last LE scent, Tangerine Thyme, was a big hit for me, I got a full bottle and back up bottles of it. This one is interesting but I’m not yet sold on it. For any mimosa fans, it’s definitely a must try.
Hi house cousin!
Back at you! I really like PPC, they have several scents that I wear on regular basis. Hindu Honeysuckle is a great botanical musk, for example.
Good to know. Thanks!
Eau des Merveilles today!
One of my favs – you smell great!
One of my favs as well. You smell wonderful.
Scent twin!
Darn, I have a travel set of seven AC scents, plus a number of other decants/small bottles, so I’d have easily been able to do a week of AC, but instead I’m at my parents’ house with limited choices. So Penhaligon’s Halfeti it is for me today—a beautiful and sweet, spicy rose—over last night’s l’Arlesienne soap and dry oil.
Nice, bet that is a good mix.
Box of Eels EDT, for the second day in a row, and I’m seriously contemplating a week of it. I don’t think I’ve done that with any scent for ages. Five years at least.
Please do a week of it…. such a gorgeous scent
I agree, do it!!!
Having topped it up with some utterly lush extrait when I got home, the idea is even more appealing. Can my fickle self be constant for a whole week,?
I sprayed a bit of Madonna Truth or Dare Naked on one hand this morning, then spied my bottle of Jour Gardenia, which I’ve got up and down my arms.
I was rather enjoying the beachy-tropical flower combo but about an hour in, Truth or Dare Naked turned and went all sour and nasty on me.
This happens to me with so many perfumes and it’s so frustrating. I’m convinced it’s my olfactory system and suspect it’s hormonal (maybe?) The odor I get is always the same but it’s not necessarily consistent. For instance, I got some Puredistance Sheiduna in a swap recently and the first time I tried it (or maybe I just smelled the vial) it was pure acrid and sour. I sniffed it about a week ago and it was lovely – gauzy sweet desert dunes and dates – so I figured it was safe to wear it. Over the course of the day it went back and forth between the way it’s (obviously) supposed to smell, and acrid and sour.
What gives?!?
That’s odd…and, yes, frustrating. Jour Gardenia is quite lovely.
Have you changed up your skincare regimen lately? One summer I discovered that the sunscreen I was using on my arms made perfume sprayed there smell off.
Amouage Reflection Woman….and I didn’t even know about the CP when I put it on, this makes me so happy 🙂
I like it. It’s a musky watermelon to me.
I am continuing on the “use it up” project, and will continue to do so. I have been tracking my perfume expenses since falling down the rabbit hole, but I really looked at the spreadsheet recently and am somewhat horrified. And, I don’t have as much GREAT perfume as I would like for the expense – there are a lot of $30/$70 “why not?” purchases. The one perfume I really love cost around $300 – I wish I had more of those. I think this is the same analysis everyone goes through with clothes, electronics, or anything else – it pays to buy quality for many reasons, not least of which is psychologically you just appreciate it more. But, I just wanted to get my hands on stuff to smell, so in that sense, mission accomplished, and now I can continue my journey more discerningly.
So, what is the one you really love? Nosy folks want to know 😉
Carnal Flower…when I began I placed a $100+ order of 1ml samples from STC, this was the only one that knocked my socks off 🙂
Funny, mine is Le Parfum de Therese. 80+ bottles in my collection but I haven’t worn anything else since Mr. Lucy bought me a big bottle for my birthday last year. Those “why not” purchases add up but don’t satisfy. Luckily, Carnal Flower is available in many sizes and forms. The 10ml travel spray is $78 – only $8 more than your acceptable range. Just sayin’. 🙂
I actually did purchase it! but I don’t regret it 🙂 and, I split some of it away, so that deferred some of the cost.
That is an impressive story (80 bottles, but using 1). LPDT is such a great story and scent, and it’s nice that it was a milestone gift from someone you love, which makes it even more special 🙂
Those “why not?” purchases really add up, don’t they? It has helped me to have a strict monthly budget – it’s easier to skip something I just Really Like if I know I’m saving for a Love later on. Not that the occasional “why not” doesn’t sneak in there, of course!
budget! I’ll have to get me one of those 🙂
Let me know if you find one on sale????
????
You could get She-ra’s — hers went out the window.
Indeed ????????…up for grabs it is.
I totally relate – I have too many bottles that I bought because the price was good and I liked them overall but I wish I had saved my pennies to buy something more expensive but that I love not just like. My most expensive bottle is Lune Feline by Atelier des Ors – I love it even though it only got a measly two stars in the Guide. It needed another star at least!
SOTD is Box of Eels. I may be living in Sketch City, but I smell super classy????????
Seriously, when did the Golden Arches start hiring security? Are quarter pounders with cheese a highly sought after commodity? And why would security chase a 95 year old man out the door? Because he took the sports section of the local paper, and the security guard accused him of “stealing.” ????
Life. Sometimes, it’s just too crazy.
Reno (aka The City of the Super Sketchiest People Ever) and I got off to a rough start, but things are looking up. (Although, I’m looking up through a lot of smoke.) Found housing for 3 months (at a RIDICULOUS price), but excited by the fact that mid-September my professional van build will be starting, God willing and crick don’t rise.
Also, got on a real mountain bike for the first time in 5 years! Felt it out yesterday along the Truckee River trail to see how rusty I was. Pretty rusty, but one can only improve, right? I am now the proud owner of a neon orange Specialized Pitch. Hopefully, I will avoid serious bodily injury.
Pretty sure this smoke is shrinking my olfactory bulb, so I’m going extra extra heavy duty with perfumes from now on in the hopes I can save it from total desiccation…! Spray extra and waft it my way, would you? ????????
I read Fast Food Nation many many years ago but a point he makes repeatedly is how dangerous working in fast food restaurants is. I want to say that statistically it was up there with being a cop, as far as death and injury rates. Not sure if that’s still the case.
Congrats on your new bike! And yes, don’t hurt yourself.
And was surprised about the security so did a google search on McDonald’s + security guards. And it’s not just in the US! Can’t recommend it, that’s more information than I wanted today. Here’s a fun headline for you though:
McDonald’s Is Using Classical Music to Calm Drunk Customers
http://www.grubstreet.com/2017/07/mcdonalds-is-playing-mozart-to-calm-drunk-customers.html
Yowza, nothing worse than an ugly drunk! I was shocked when I saw security there, and even more shocked when he went after the elderly man and snatched the sports section out of his gnarled hand. ????????♀️
Yay on the new bike!
It was time to get back on a “real” bike! And I will admit to watching a ton of mountain biking videos recently to get my courage up, and ran across a very inspiring rider who really is shredding trails after coming back from a significant injury. Sure, I’m 30 years older than him, but I can get back in the saddle too! ????????♂️
Congrats on the bike! Enjoy your riding. And spray with abandon!!
I remember the McDonalds in Adams Morgan in DC back in the early 80s had serious security. We avoided it at night.
Well, DC says it all. But one of the things I like about traveling is not only all the great people I meet and beautiful places I see, but also the flipside of that coin. I really appreaciate so many everyday things things that I rarely even thought about before embarking on this little journey. I’m very grateful to be upright, walking, talking, and mostly sane. ????
Sketch City, lol.
Have fun on your new bike! My very first real bike-store bike was a Specialized way back in the early 90’s, a Crossroads Cruz. I traded that in some years ago and I now have a Civia city cruiser with a really comfy seat.
Smelling classy indeed in Box of Eels!
There’s a LOT to be said for a comfy seat! My rear end will take a while to adjust to this little sliver of a seat, for sure.
Does the cruiser have gears or is it a single speed?9
It’s a 5 speed, although I rarely use the lowest or highest speed.
I think I am too old for a single speed.???? That seems to be what all the skinny jean hipsters are riding around here.
LOL at “skinny jean hipsters”! Bet they have waxed mustaches, too!
Congrats on the new bike! ???? Stay safe and great smelling out there!
Thank you! I do need to jget a brain bucket, though…!
YES! Some places will actually ticket people on bikes if they aren’t wearing one. And, of course, there is the safety angle.
Congrats on the bike and on securing housing!
I am wearing Caron Bellodgia today.
YUM.
So very pretty!
Petit Marin today…..it’s a no brainer in 100 degree temps!!
PETIT MATIN.
You smell great Melissa!
Thank you. I got a full bottle and have no buyer’s remorse!!!!!! Light, tenacious and refined.
I am reeking….. literally. Killed time due to youngest four hour summer college class. Sprayed myself silly in Target with the Pacifica hair mists and tested the target brand colognes and edts. Some were quit nice. Then Sephora eau Savage, ombre leather, it’s you ( or whatever the name is) , Moscow mule and pure Grace summer . Like them all but need none and no lemmings oh and I did the walk through spray of Mojave ghost before I left the house
Woah! 😉
YOu would not have wanted to be near me 😉
LOL, wow, you are reeking it up today! Sounds like you had fun. ????
Well what’s a gal to do with so much time to kill? 😉
However, I still did not buy those Harry soaps in Target that everyone is raving about even though I sniffed them all again.
Ha!!! Reeking for sure!
I actually showered after mowing the lawn in 96 degrees of hot….so I am no longer reeking 😉
Oh lordy the typos…I really CANNOT type on my phone anymore….
I love how you get all your variety in on a single day!
I went a bit crazy, eh? But then again I am usually a wash, rinse and repeat kinda gal????
Wow! Holly would have been proud of your reeking earlier today!
I was thinking of her in my frenzy 🙂
A great way to offset your recent single scent binge! Universal balance is everything????
Ha! good point!!!
Happy Monday All. This is week 3 for back to work for me. We have finished mostly all student schedules and teachers will be arriving tomorrow. Next week, the kids return. I literally feel like I had no summer break. ????
My SOTD is Cristalle from Chanel.
Hope everyone has a good week.
Ohhh, that’s a favorite of mine! You smell grand. 🙂
Our students return August 27th (I work at a University) and we’re gearing up for the onslaught of no parking and craziness (crazy in a good way)!
“A” week, huh? AdP Blu Mediterraneo Fico d’Amalfi for me, and it took all my concentration just to type that. Slept so poorly last night! For no good reason. Today is Monday+++ for sure. I need a nap already, and I’ve only been awake for an hour and a half.
I mayyyyy have used my 15 minute break this morning by snoozing under my desk. Monday+++ indeed.
Sorry — hope you get plenty of sleep tonight!
Insomnia is the worst. Hope you get some sleep tonight.
Yuck! Sleepy Mondays are among the worst.
LL Aldehyde 44 today over remnants of last night’s Chanel no 5 edp. I should’ve just sprayed the rest of the sample since it’s practically gone by now. I’ll finish it off this evening. It was nice while it lasted and it’s hit the spot for the aldehyde craving I’ve had these last few days. Hot, muggy Monday. Yawn.
I haven’t tried that one but considering I’ve also had an aldehyde craving the past few days, I’m sure you smelled wonderful!
Thank you! It’s sort of like a diluted version of 2 parts no 22 and 1 part no 5. I’ll be curious to hear what you think of no 5 now if you decide to try it again.
I was all ready to fully participate I the CP all week long but then I decided to wear my white button up shirt with little pineapples all over it which then led me to wear my recently unearthed decant of Ananas Fizz. So I think I get partial credit for the “A” perfume name. However, I’m not really feeling the perfume after not wearing it for at least a few years. It’s coming across more woody men’s mainstream perfume than I remember. I think my little decant will go up for swap. Feel free to email me at my user name at gmail if anyone wants to get a head start on swapping.
Also a PSA after the shower gel weekend poll: Yves Rocher will give you two Maracuja shower gels for free with $25 purchase with code MARACUJA2018. It ends tomorrow night. Maracuja was featured as a daily lemming last month and is described as passionfruit and ginger. This morning I placed an order for:
Lagoon Hair & Body Wash
Cotton Flower Mimosa Shower Gel
Quelques Notes d’Amour EDP travel size
Moment de Bonheur EDP travel size
Coconut EDT travel size
FREE gift Lavandin Blackberry Relaxing Shower Oil
Plus the two free Maracuja shower gels
OOOOOOH passion fruit and ginger sounds awesome. I haven’t looked at Yves Rocherr stuff in a long time, but just might now. Enabler pin for you!
enabler.
I felt really guilty given my backlog of shower gels, so I’m trying to bring some of you down with me!
Dang, it worked: just put in a YR order. Since I am showering twice a day in this heat I am at least using up shower gel at a fairly fast clip.
SOTD: nothing yet. Maybe Philosykos
What I’ve been thinking about lately: location, climate and perfume. I’m near Chicago, my son is in SF, and my daughter is currently in New Hampshire. We’ve visited both of them lately, and a couple fragrances I took with me behaved unexpectedly. E.g.: Ineke Idyllwild. I’ve worn this a few times around home, and something doesn’t quite work for me here. I’m not a big fan of citrus + fir here at home – slightly muddy, I think. But in San Francisco (where it was developed), it’s a different story. Something about the air clarity, perhaps? At any rate, if I lived there, I might well purchase it.
And then, New Hampshire weekend before last. Again, I took a couple of things, but one interesting angle was that my daughter’s place has no air conditioning, and it was hot with nearly daily rain. My husband compared it to being at summer camp. It was wonderful to listen to rain on tree leaves in the evening. At any rate, I only took a couple options, and they were nearly smothering in the humidity. I gave up . We were hiking, etc., so I didn’t really miss perfumes, anyway. When I got home, Eau des Merveilles came to mind…I can imagine that one working very well in those conditions.
So that’s how perfume is occupying my life lately: I’m pondering the geographic implications.
I agree..my perfumes smell differently when I am in and out of NYC
Philosykos is great. I am from Alabama but moved to New Mexico last year and so many many perfumes are different in this desert climate compared to sultry southern summers.
Another hot muggy day, I’m wearing Le Labo Ylang 49 because it works well in the heat.
I have recently bought some Le Labo samples, including Ylang, but have not tried them yet. Good to know it works well in summer.
Ylang is so pretty. You smell great!
SotD = Trefle Pur from a sample
I will enjoy revisiting the Atelier Cologne sample set this week. I’ve had these samples for ages and they still smell great.
I almost bought a tiny bottle a few weeks ago at Sephora, but they did not have the one I wanted. Now I can’t remember which, Bergamote Soleil or Clementine California? As much as I love colognes I still have not purchased a bottle from this line. Oh well. 😉
I like several from that line, but not sure if I like any of them enough to get a FB.
Same here, I like Grand Neroli and Oolang Infini, but no FBs. I had a bottle of Bois Blonds but sent it back. The dry down of the scent in the new bottle was very different to my nose from the sample I’d received more than a year prior. It’s fun to keep looking though. 😉
Hey tiffanie, if Clementine California is the one you’re after, I have three 4ml mini sprays I can send you. It’s a ‘like, but don’t love’ sitch for me. ????
wow, Nancyleandros, thank you for the kind offer! I’ll check my samples, if it was the CC I’ll let you know later today. 😀
Sounds great!
Here’s my contact info if you need it. Sorry for the added post!
Nlmcook aaat sbcglobal dot net
In the 90s today and smoke is coming in from the wildfires in Southern Oregon and Northern California. I’m wearing Orange Sanguine and off to get a haircut and a pedicure, though not at the same time.
A haircut and a pedi sound wonderful. And you smell great!
I went out this morning to find my car covered in a layer of ash from the fires–my heart breaks for those who are losing their homes. I love CA but I hate “fire season.”
It’s tragic isn’t it? The recovery will take generations.
Sampling Byredo Oud Immortel today. I like it a lot but I think I’d rather smell it on my fiance than myself, so I’ll pass it along to him to finish off!
House twins 🙂
and since you are passing it along to the fiance that is another THUNK.
Oh you’re right! That is a THUNK for me, even if it’s not for him! 😀
I think the sample I requested was Oud Accord. Very behind in dipping into the sample sea!
Good morning! I put on some Pacifica Tunisian Jasmine Lime before checking in here, so not on theme today. I might have an Atelier sample kicking around somewhere for the rest of the week – we’ll see.
Speaking of Pacifica, since there was talk in the last couple weeks lamenting their discontinuing solids and many of the scents, I went looking around online to see if there was any Mexican Cocoa left anywhere. I found an Etsy seller (also on Amazon with same pricing) named Violet Twig Aromatics with something called Mexican Cocoa and a couple other that sound Pacifica-ish (Lilac Blossom). Anyone tried this seller?
Mmm, I had a rollerball of Tunisian Jasmine Lime. Must have been a limited edition because it wasn’t on sale very long. Too bad, you smell great!
yes it’s gone from everywhere…website, stores, etc. Must have not sold well or folks were confusing it with the d/c Tunisian Jasmine which smelled completely different of almond and jasmine…that one was SOOOOO good.
I had a terrible night’s sleep and am still struggling. I spent an hour reading the weekend posts on scented gels and soaps, drooling over all of them,…but I can’t manage to drag myself into the shower and use one. 🙂 Therefore, no SOTD yet. I’m pretty useless today. Happy Monday???
Hope you picked a SOTD later on.
I did! And I even managed to get cleaned up and go out of the house. 🙂 I finished up my JM Nectarine Blossom and Honey bath oil (yea!) and went with my standard Le Parfum de Therese. It was a slow morning but I made up for it later.
SOTD = Atelier Cologne Silver Iris
Candied violets Iris. I’m still working on my 30mL bottle and have a 100 mL back-up. Methinks I won’t run out.
Spotted at Wegmans – Halloween candies! It feels wrong, but then again, if Back-to-School started in July …
Commuting Woes No. 442:
Why would anyone hold on to the pole where he had to outstretch his arm (he had the whole pole at his disposal), stand on one leg (he has two, with no obvious injury) and then when the train lurched slightly, caught himself and stomped his foot on top of mine? Why? To top it all off, I obviously looked like I was getting off at the next stop and he was in my way but did not budge so I had no choice but to shove past him. Next time won’t be so pleasant for him!
The heat is on…yucky — welcome back to summer in NJ ????
You should write a book about commuting stories
second this
Third.
Yesss!
A ha! Maybe I’ll entitle it Commuting: The Guide
????do it!
Something akin to (The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F—). I couldn’t link to it because being disemvoweled will cause the link to not work.
Put “Survival” in front of Guide maybe?
See above hahaha
People are strange. It really shows up in commuting….agree, a book is in order. Or a weekly column.
I was in Pier One last week, and they had tons of Halloween stuff for sale and all sorts of pumpkin/fall themed stuff. I usually hate that jumpstart on seasonal things, but I swear it cooled me down from the heat here….
Violet and iris….yum.
Hallowe’en stuff in August is just as bad as seeing fuzzy sweaters and coats this time of year.
Halloween these days are not like the ones from 29 years ago where costumes kept the kids warm. These past few years, skimpier costumes do better for fear of overheating inside one’s costume!
I meant 20 years ago but 29 years ago is also right.
I actually read it as 20 years ago. Ha! I knew what you were thinking same wavelength friend ???? it almost is always cold/rain or even snow here on Halloween. Coats are often worn over the costumes!
Selfridges opened their Christmas shop last week.
Ow! Your unbalanced traveller sounds annoying. Today on the train home there was an enthusiastic singalong by four sloshed ladies of a certain age of Tom Jones’s greatest hits. And I’d left my earphones on my desk. 17 more commuting days to go.
Won’t be long before they just keep selling Christmas stuff all year!
Ugh, at least they did not throw up on you.
I am waiting for my train and I feel like throwing up because it smells like rotting cream of broccoli soup.
That is a disturbingly specific stink you are describing.
Definitely left a taste in my mouth. Yuck!
GAH! on seeing Halloween stuff already! It was bad enough seeing all the back to school stuff last week at Target, and it wasn’t even August yet! Gimme a break!
This reminds me that I went to Target after Halloween and got a clip on Fox tail for $0.30. It was so plush my mom thought it was a pillow.
Halloween?!? God god, it’s unbelievable!
If they were on sale already I would complain less! No such luck though.
P.S. I am now following you on Instagram. I love the pictures, I love you and T-Rex!
Oh, that’s so sweet of you! Thanks for following us! A big hug to you from T-Rex and me????
My wedding scent! You smell wonderful. Your commuting woes and stench, ugh. And it is WAY too early for halloween!
You certainly picked a good one as a wedding scent! I left work 1/2 hour early but got home the same time I usually do leaving half hour later. Hmmmph!
Sample of the day is Armani Prive Bleu Lazuli which seems like a better fit for autum than a hot, muggy summer day
I may have at sample of this!
I like today’s kaleidoscope pic.
Wearing Montale Vanilla Cake and Mancera Black Vanilla today…lest you thought VQ ‘18 was over…it isn’t, friends, it isn’t. ????
Going to Ojai for a little family vacation next week…if anyone has recommendations for places to check out/things to do…have never been. I intend to eat good food, relax and not do much else. Some activities for my 5 year old too.
Sounds like the perfect vacation, enjoy!
Eating good food and relaxing sounds perfect! Enjoy!
You’ll be the best smelling gal in all of Ojai!
I’ve never been to Ojai. Sounds like a fun family vacation!
SOTD = Arquiste The Architects Club over the Lush solid I’m Home. So, partial credit for the cp. Turns out it’s a nice combo and …….
THUNK goes the sample set. Yeah, baby!!
Sample set THUNK, sounds wonderful! ????. Keep going!
Wow! you THUNKED a sample set!!!
I think this deserves multiple “THUNKS” for a sample set.
Which was your favorite?
My cousin reps for Arquiste!
I have a bottle of Anima Dulcis already, but had not tried any of the others. The Architects Club is a like, but not a love.
The Arquiste I’m hankering after is Nanban. It reminds me a little of AD, but lighter and easier to wear in this climate.
Well, my SOTD is in line with this week’s CP since I applied some of my Aqua di Parma Profumo body cream. It’s ancient, like the Mitsouko body cream I used last week–and also separated. I blush to admit I went through a body cream phase. When I searched in my upstairs closet, I found a shoebox (or two) with no fewer than ten (10!) giant tubs of body creams–some mostly used, one (of Chanel Coco) mostly full. These are all ancient, at least 10 years old and possibly more like 15. I’m not sure why I went off them. The Profumo one, although it looks rather yucky, still smells grand, and in fact seems to give a slight golden cast to my skin as it goes on (or is that my imagination?). Profumo is one of the great, great chypres, to my mind, but I’ve never bought a FB, only samples. Perhaps I ought to invest in one. Also, it seems somehow light and fresh enough to be OK to wear in hot weather.
Nice, finding a chypre that works in hot weather! That can be a challenge.
I can do the CP! I have my decant of Blanche Immortelle with me because I was interested in trying it in the heat. I like it in dry heat, so will see how it behaves when I’m back in humidity later this week.
I think this was my first decant purchase ever…from a hajusuuri split some years back.
Yay for participation! And splitmeets! And decants! 🙂
Dry heat sounds darned appealing right now!
It’s not, trust me. Extreme heat in humid environments (my personal nemesis) are hellish, but this dry heat is just as bad in a different way. Scorched. My throat, my sinuses, my skin- everything feels dried, dehydrated, blistered. The simple routine of inspiration/expiration makes you feel like a dried, shriveled corn husk! Ugh!
Oh no! It sounds like you need one of those personal fan / misters!
Ok, maybe not *that* dry then.
Yes you did! I should wear it this week!
I was in on that split, so I’ll join y’all in the CP some time this week!
I wear Blanche Immortelle in the swampy heat of Montreal, it’s quite nice.
I got an “A” perfume name today. I’m wearing Angel Muse. I don’t have a lot for this week’s theme – just a couple of Atelier Cologne travel sprays that I’ll save for later in the week.
I love Angel Muse. Wore it last week. You smell super good.
I didn’t know we were doing ‘A’ week, which will be easy enough for me.
Today I’m wearing Cédrat Intense by Patricia de Nicolaï, so I’m well covered in A’s as well as a nice perfume.
Love the CP this week!
SOTD ELdO Like This.Warm and fuzzy on a chilly-ish day.
SOTE Lush Tuca-Tuca.a Favorite violet perfume.
Both bottles are candidates to “thunk” before the end of August!
I think I know what I’ll wear on Friday already.
Short 3-day workweek,YAY!!
Happy Monday!
X
Hey, enjoy that short work week! You’ve had some seriously crazy hours lately, haven’t you?
Yay for a short work week!
Started the day in Diptyque Olene, but it faded, so to participate in the “A” day and the use it up them, I shook the final drops of my Aftelier Honey Blossom decant onto my arms this afternoon.
Thunk – well twink, since it was a very small decant. Sweet and pretty, and now that it is gone I already miss it. Probably need to get some more, to keep my “Honey” category filled. I currently have a list of scent categories, with at least one example in each category, but this has been my only honey…My goal is to have one dense cold weather scent and one lighter warm weather scent in each category that I really love…:-)
Zoologist Moth is a honey perfume, though one you would not immediately think of. Just thought I’d mention that.
I have seen some rave reviews of Moth. I will have to get a sample.. Thanks for the suggestion.
Oh, that’s a good goal, I like it!
I need some sort of structure or I just get lost in the weeds.
Participated in the CP this morning with the very last of my Bois Blonds. Thunk. This is the first bottle I have finished in I don’t know how long….I have been finishing quite a few samples lately too.
That faded within a couple of hours so now I am in No 5 Eau Premiere. I have really noticed the vanilla the last couple of times I’ve worn this and I think I prefer it to L’eau after all.
Busy morning of errands after a long work weekend. Now to read comments.
Whoo hoo on finishing a bottle! ????
Keeping a wary eye to the sky this afternoon. I’ve heard a couple rumbles of thunder so far, and pop-up showers are a possibility.
I missed the shower gel poll this weekend, but I keep a minimalist shower… one shower gel, which currently is Korres Fig; my summer shampoo, Bumble & Bumble Surf Wash, the matching conditioner for dry ends, and my face wash from boscia. I can’t really use soap… very hard water where I live, and I would be scrubbing soap scum all the time. No thanks!
SOTD = Alien Aqua Chic EdT Legere, from the sample stash. Mugler isn’t kidding about this being light! It became a skin scent on me after about 4 hours. Usually, anything from TM lasts about 24 hours on me. However, with hot and muggy weather in full force, I am appreciating something light and refreshing right now.
I like shampoos with matching conditioner; however, I find myself using a lot less conditioner than I do shampoo so I end up with leftover conditioner. Does this happen to you?
If the shampoo and conditioner bottles are the same size, yes. I also use a lot less conditioner than shampoo. My work around with the Bumble & Bumble stuff is that I get a regular sized shampoo, and the travel size of the conditioner.
I intended to look up this week’s cp theme after getting dressed this morning. However, I could smell Opardu on my shirt even though it went through the wash. It was so beautiful that I just went with it.
You smell nice!
