Happy Tuesday, and happy World Ranger Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: I am matchy-matchy this morning, drinking a Mangalam Estate Assam from Upton and wearing Berdoues Assam of India.
Reminder: on 8/3, we'll celebrate Peach Month! You know what to do.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: Peach Brulée organic tea from Tea Forte ("Rich and fragrant with floral and fruit, Peach Brulee is refreshing dessert tea that is part of Tea Forte’s signature Noir collection. All teas in the Noir collection are made from first flush Assam black tea leaves that offers a deep, robust steep even a coffee-purist will enjoy. The ingredients of Peach Brulee include organic black tea from India, organic mango, organic coconut, organic marigold blossoms from Egypt, and natural flavors of cream, vanilla, and peach.") is $15 for 80g.
Arpege Lanvin EDP
Good morning Bear! You are smelling classic this morning.
wonderful scent, and one of my favorite bottles
Nice!
Perfect choice !
Samples Nirvana White
Nope.
Insolence EDP
French press coffee
I did not love Nirvana White either. Insolence is the way to go.
it was a scrubber
Money saved
French press twin.????
Enjoy your cuppa!
Niral didn’t work for me either.
If it works for anyone let me know and I can send you my sample!
Insolence is such a nice scent !
Do you find the difference between the EdT and the EdP?
I only have a bottle of the EDT, and its a pretty old bottle. Probably 12 years old. A little of this goes a long way.
Nirvana White was a “Nope” for me as well.
Drinking instant rose milk tea from a packet that is 99% sugar, which goes nicely with my Slumberhouse Sadanne.
That sounds divine.
hmmm..intrigued by your tea but not the sugar. What the brand?
Sunsoya – this style of powdered milk tea can often be found in Asian groceries in flavors like jasmine, rose, ginger, etc,
Aedes De Venustas copal azur. Working my side hustle at the airport this morning schlepping bags. 40 degrees in Jackson Hole this morning but reminded of warm beaches and blue ocean water every time I sniff my wrist!
40 degrees? I’m moving to Wyoming.
Oh, I miss Wyoming!
You smell fabulous Cody!
One of my top 5 favorites!
I’ll be nearby soon and wish I could stop by and visit that town.
I definitely read that as 40degC, since it is summer, and was initially confused about why people seemed to think that was an agreeable temperature to be in. Then I understood, though I think the only thing worse than 40degC in the summer is 40degF in the summer.
Assam of India!!!! Robin you are smelling good! Would you believe I have about one row of elephants left on the bottle I used the entire summer of 2016?
Tresor for me today to participate in the CP and for the “THUNK” at the end of the week 🙂
“one row of elephants” 🙂
Those elephants rows were my marker the summer of ’16 when I wore it for SEVEN WEEKS STRAIGHT…must have earned a million enabler pins with that one-LOL!
Yeah, I think she may hit a THUNK soon when she’s out of elephants…
😉
Are you planning to finish Assam of India this year?
Right now it is sitting in middle Marzipan’s room…if she doesn’t take it to college I might just FINISH IT UP 🙂
Great for another THUNK approaching! 😀
I can’t believe that was TWO YEARS ago! Wow, I fell down the perfumista hole and joined this marvelous community 2.5 y ago!
Wow! You are a newbie-LOL! and look at how far you have come! ( I am thinking about your Paris purchases 🙂 )
Oh the shame! D:
One row! That is a lot of elephants, gone.
SOTD: Oud Wood (Tom Ford). 🙂
Mmmm, you smell great. I’ve been hankering after the Oud Wood body mist.
CdG Lily today ????
I walked into one of my hospitals and I’m smelling Bottega Veneta following me around. I haven’t worn it probably since last Fall so it’s not on me. Maybe an olfactory hallucination ???? But a nice one!
Or you caught a whiff of someone else’s scent trail!
If so, I want to know who the culprit was and hug them! It was weird because it was the same intensity both in the hallway outside the meeting room, and in the meeting room I was in.
There are a few perfumes that I can accurately detect in the wild — and I always feel so pleased with myself when I do — so congrats on your astute nose — and on smelling fab yourself!
I’m usually wrong but close, lol (like the wrong tuberose). But it is satisfying when I get it right!
SOTD Byredo Elevator Music.
Wow, forgot about that one. How is it?
Happy Tuesday!
Wearing L’ombre dans l’eau today, generous sample from Kpaint. I have probably 8ml, so considering trying to “use this up”, but that is quite a lot – might begin with my 1ml’s first.
This is my second wearing. 1st time i thought: green in the 70’s manner – I put it in my 70’s green pile. Today my first thoughts are: Sweet and Fresh.
So, I checked out fragrantica, and perused the most recent 1/2 of reviews – what stood out to me:
-This is Billy Idol’s signature fragrance
-many people describe this as melancholic
-one person thought this would be the scent of Dr. Who’s Weeping Angel.
final thoughts:
-I wish I knew what cassis smells like
-This smells fresh & musty, which is sort of interesting
I think in perfumes cassis is just a fancy name for black currant.
Yes, and just the French word as well.
Billy Idol! Who knew?
Billy Idol!!! He was my first crush. In the early 80s.
Wow- interesting review, but not melancholy to me at all.
Isnt this the same scent as in the candle Baies? It’s perfect in that role and has a powerful throw. I dont know why but I consider it a springtime scent- perky, polite and innocent.
Happy Tuesday to you!
I wore and finished my sample of L’ Ombre dans L’Eau yesterday and it is a beautiful spring-summer green scent. It is on my fb “To buy List”. I think it would make a good addition to my green scents in the future.
To me, cassis smells like a very intense concentrated grapes that are slightly bitter (but it’s really black currant and not grapes). The intense smell in TF Black Orchid is cassis.
Peach week continued. Narciso Rodriguez For Her EDP. While I do get something sweet and fruity when I sniff the bottle, it’s all musk and rose (and maybe a bit of patchouli) on my skin, no peach. That’s fine though – it’s such a pretty musky floral.
Oh, and my new lemming is this body product line – https://www.clarinsusa.com/en/white-flowers-collection/
Not sure about magnolia, but I am always interested in jasmine and neroli scented body products.
Has anyone tried them?
I adore Clarins body products, have used Eau des Jardins and Eau Dynamisante for years. Thinking of giving the neroli a go when I head downtown this weekend. 🙂
I was thinking I’d like to try them too, but it looks like they’re only available online.
It’s OJ Woman for me today. Happy World Ranger Day to all the rangers out there – I’ve known a few, and they’re an interesting and impressive lot.
You smell great! I finished my sample of OJ Osmanthus the other day and the drydown really reminded me of Woman.
Interesting! I tried them too far apart in time to have noticed a similarity – I’ll have to hunt down what’s left of my sample of Osmanthus and see if I get the same reaction.
you smell fab!
Thank you! (I think so too!)
I am finishing the Berdoues Grand Cru discovery set with Russkaya Kozha. The benzoin makes it a little too sweet for me.
I was going through three discovery sets (Berdoues, Bruno Fazzolari, and Zoologist) and tried all but but one, because Room 237 from Bruno Fazzolari wouldn’t spray. Otherwise I’ve tried each scent once. Of the three sets, I will probably buy decants of Assam of India, Lampblack, and Civet. Next up is an empty sample or decant project, to use up as many samples or decants as I can. This could take months.
The Berdoues set is fun. Very glad I have one to sample, with thanks to a lovely NSTer for sharing.
Russkaya Kozha is surprisingly sweet. I really enjoy Selva do Brazil, will try it again today. I think it will be great in the heat of the afternoon.
Good morning Y’all!
I’m in love….again! I bought a new ‘fume during Amazon’s Christmas in July sale, and can’t get enough! Elizabeth Arden White Tea is just gorgeous, and perfect for summer. Love that ambrette note in the drydown. I bet the bath products are amazing too….
Have a great day y’all….
Forgot….here’s this morning’s Instagram post….. 🙂
https://www.instagram.com/p/Bl5ce_9nM20/?taken-by=jadainga99
Another beautiful pic! That flower is perfection!
Beautiful insta feed!
So beautiful!
Gorgeous photo! and I love ambrette seed…have you ever tried the essential oil?
Wearing iris’s all week, and Friday I will end up with DSH’s Scent of Hope, which has a notable peach note to go with the iris. Today, I am queenly in Athalia…I bought a full bottle of this after adorable hubby had the sought after, “You smell GOOD!” response to my wearing of a sample. 🙂
I am afraid he praises the perfumes less, after he saw what happened there. LOL.
My scent menu for the week – yesterday, Erdenstern because I compared it to Niral over the weekend and Erdenstern won, even tho I was going to wear Iris all week. Today, queenly Athalia, worn with royal blue, of course. Wednesday, rooty Iris Silver Mist, worn with linen in shades of earth, dark brown, rusty brown, jade. Thursday, relaxing Belle Rives worn with Mexican embroidery, as if I was on vacation. Friday, peachy Scent of Hope, worn with something slightly retro and sophisticated, a pretty shirt dress with a realistic botanical print.
Oh, maybe I will wear Scent of Hope this week, good idea!
(And hey, smart husband.)
There are many good reasons he is called Adorable Husband. 🙂
Gucci Rush today, perversely peachy.
Have a great day all!
YES! Love Rush!
Good one!
Twins!
I do like peach tea????????
SOTD l’Artisan Sacramento Troublant for a day stuck in a dingy basement room with no ventilation for 8 hours behind a godawful computer. Hope you all are doing something more interesting.
Fun Times Tuesday! ????
Sacramento?! ????????????
That would be Safran…!
Although Sacramento Troublant does sound like it would be appropriate for computing in a basement.
That really made me guffaw!
LOL! T-Rex must have hit the keyboard…. 🙂
Ha!!!
???? I thought it was a flanker of Saffran Troublant! ????
Hermessence Osmanthe Yunnan. Wearing the last of my sample today. I will enjoy it while it lasts.
Will switch to something else later as we head downtown tonight to see one of my favorite bands ever. The National is back in town! This is my third time seeing them live. They always make a stop here on their tour, but it’s been five years, so I’m really looking forward to it. Continuing on our streak of perfect weather, we’ll probably ride our bikes to avoid the post concert traffic jam.
I love Osmanthe Yunnan; you smell great.
Enjoying the weather vicariously through you! Enjoy your bike ride and concert.????????
You smell gorgeous. Have fun at the show!
Oh, the National – I have never seen them live and I think I would die of gorgeous melancholy if I did. Enjoy!
Fun! I saw them probably 6-7 years ago live. Enjoy!
I love that one!
Hiram Green Shangri La. I get lots of peach in this one.
You smell great. I ❤ Shangri La.
28 La Pausa for a busy Tuesday.
My favorite perfume ever! You smell fantastic!
Hiris, to make me feel better about having to go to software training for student testing. Summer appears to be winding down. ????
I hope Hiris brightens up your day ! You smell marvelous !
Still testing Essential Parfums “The Musc” and I think it’s starting to grow on me. Two sprays behind the knees (and wearing a skirt) makes it possible for me to smell it a little better. I’m def getting more of the lavender this morning and am actually able to smell the musk. It’ kind of a tart fruity musk as opposed to a white musk, so I’m appreciating its character a bit more. Oddly, it reminds me of Tocca Collette. Yesterday I wore Chypre Mousse from the dabber sample all day and wow that thing is a beast. It seems to have crawled up my nose because I could still smell it this morning even though there was very little trace of it on my wrist.
Question: has anyone tried a scentbird subscription?
I find that the longer I wear the same fragrance the more I pick up on the subtle nuance and I end up either really liking or loving the fragrance. Haven’t tried Scentbird myself but have been tempted. I think Undina has used them and has been positive about her experience. I will research and see what she says.
I think “The Musc” is going to be like that for me. If nothing else it will be a light, inoffensive daytime stand in while I am still out west and away from my other perfumes. I have a little travel kit brought with me from India that includes a mini of coromandel, a small decant of LDDM that I just dab on, Indian Sandalwood, lavender and jasmine oils. Altogether this has been all I need for almost a year of travel now. However I am really going to enjoy the reunion with my perfumes when I get back to Boston.
Sometimes it is really nice just to have a small collection and savor it.
https://undina.com/2015/11/08/scentbird-scenttrunk-and-olfactif-whos-the-fairest-of-them-all/
Thank you!!
Sajini, I’m still using them from time to time. If you haven’t subscribed yet, I can give you a code that would give both you and me 1 free month (but you’ll have to pay for the second month full price; alternatively, if you want to get just 1 month, you can find a coupon and get 25% off the first month and then cancel before the next month’s billing). Let me know if you need the code from me.
Thank you Undina. I’m not decided yet, but thank you for the information.
Chanel Coco EDT and drinking a cup of Twinings White Tea
perfect pairing.
I was surprised to find Coco on the list when I searched for fragrances with a peach note last night. Might save mine for Friday. I swear, I’ve never noticed any peach in that at all. It’s so gorgeous! You smell amazing!
Ditto & ditto!
Thanks !! I also did a search and found my old friend Coco. This is a scent that I forget about. When I do wear it, I think “wow ! I really smell good !!” 🙂
In Memo Inle. THUNK! Boring scent with osmanthus, jasmine and tea. I can still smell it, but it didn’t move my heart at all.
The more I sample the less I like. I do not find anything breathtaking anymore, like before. Perfumes from older years are more interesting and striking for me. I realize my collection is really nice and I can enjoy it more with just few additions during the year. I will keep sampling and hoping to find anything really memorable and worth of being purchase during the journey.
I’m kind of getting there too. It is nice to be able to sit on one’s hands and wait until something really mesmerizing comes along.
It is very helpful and relieving!
It is very helpful and relieving!
Thunk twins! I’m the same way right now. My current financial situation has forced me to be very discerning about what is fb worthy. I haven’t found anything to add to the list in awhile. It’s hard because I am a bottle person.
I hear ya! am in the same boat 🙁
Being broke sucks:(
I am a bottle person too and I am glad that no temptations are haunting us now. Money saved, which is so needed.
Yeah, I still have my standard “some day” list, but really none of the new things I’ve smelled have been very exciting. Hopefully the ones I really want are still around when that someday comes around ????
The thought of a perfume being discontinued when it is still on my “some day” list has led me to many purchases, especially when I have fallen in love with a particular one. Let’s hope that in the future there are more stunning perfumes than the ones we already have on our list, so we can forget them without regrets.
lillyjo and pl67- there will always be perfumes down the road for us to fall in love with…of this I am certain…so we can let go of our fear of missing out 🙂
Yes to thunk and yes to being discriminatory. I am so glad that you are finding your own personal collection to be so satisfying. That’s what it is all about 🙂
And I hope it stays like that for a loooong time!!! 🙂
I will cheer you on and I expect you to do the same for me!
We will keep helping each other for sure. Let’s see how much perfume we can finish this year!
That’s kind of what’s happened for me. I’ve smelled so many things that after a while, it’s harder for something to really move me.
Though, I couldn’t do what you’re doing: wear a scent all day I don’t like! The idea scares me ???? Inle got one test spritz on my hand before giving it away (maybe you got it, lol.) I found it very harsh and synthetic.
I know that wearing a scent that you do not like, all day, is terrifying. ????. I only do that when I am sampling, to check the whole development of a perfume. If the scent is short lived, I usually apply another one, hoping that I like it. But yes, the experience might be very bad, especially the days that 2 or 3 samples fall in the “dislike” or “scrubber” category and I am at work.
Ha! Inlet might have come from you. I don’t remember, but I agree that it is synthetic and very boring. It has become a skin scent by now, but I can still smell it on my shirt. One of those days…
Let’s hope we can find something really beautiful soon.
I hear you on getting pickier after sniffing more perfumes. However, I still can be surprised and/or delighted by something I sniff. It may only happen once in a blue moon, though.
I still have hopes to keep finding great scents, despite the long wait.
That’s what happened when I smelled SL Cedre. It was total love at first sniff. Thank goodness it was relatively cheap. It makes me so happy to smell it.????
I think the last thing I smelled that had me thinking bottle was the limited edition Bottega Veneta Eau de Velours. Still thinking that over, though.
I have slowed way down on sampling for other reasons, but I think I feel better without the constant sense of disappointment.
Inle — yes, that should have been a much better fragrance. Memo is trying really hard not to challenge anybody.
I have been very disappointed with Memo. I have not found any of their releases interesting.
Sometimes, I would like to stop sampling completely. I feel that I am wasting precious time on samples that usually leave me very cold, when I should be wearing my abandoned bottles that I enjoy much more, but as perfumistas that seems almost impossible.
I almost always wear from my bottles or a loved decant or sample to work. I save the testing for days off or nightime.
I usually do not wear any perfumes at nightime, unless I have received something new that I cannot wait to try or I am craving for a particular scent. Considering the huge amount of samples I have been accumulating, my only option to reduce them is wearing them to work 🙁
Well, it’s easy enough to decide to put limits your sampling time and expenditure! I have sampled very little this year and have not in any way enjoyed perfume less.
Thanks for your kind wishes for my firefighter husband today (and all firefighters everywhere!) He’s back on duty today for another 24 hr shift.
I indulged in some escapist retail therapy on the way home from work yesterday. Stopped in my local Dior shop; they don’t have the new Collection Privee scents yet (“maybe September”). Sampled TF Fougere d’Argent at Nordies; it made me sneeze. Poked my nose in L’Occitane; decided (again) that I don’t like the texture of their ‘icy gel’ scents. And I finally really braved Lush. I’ve stepped in there before but fled quickly due to sensory overload. This time the store wasn’t too crowded and the music wasn’t too loud and the SA’s weren’t having a dance party, so I stuck around and sniffed everything. Ended up buying a small bottle of Smuggler’s Soul perfume; Silky Underwear powder; Happy Hippy and Plum Rain shower gels.
Also yesterday I scored one of the last bottles of Sonoma Scent Studios Incense Pure. Donatella approves.
My dream is a totally silent Lush with no SAs where you can spend as much time as you want and scan all your purchases yourself. If only one could smell through the internet.
Good for you on the Incense Pure! Laurie is a genius…perhaps my most favorite perfumer of all time (which is saying a lot because I have been wearing perfume since 1970!)
Pixel – WHERE did you purchase it? I may want a dew smaller sizes of 2 of her scents.
She has a very few bottles of a very few scents left.
https://sonomascent.wordpress.com/2018/07/29/remaining-bottle-update/
Thank You Pixel – I hope to hear back from her soon.
Enabler pin is awaiting you!
We arrived in Albuquerque last night.
No peach in my luggage but will do the best I can.
My theme for this trip was woods,
fire & smoke – sadly not for obvious reasons. I hope the weather doesn’t interfere too badly wirh our plans.
SoTD: Barry Lyndon – 1st wear, the alpine note sounded intriguing with it’s high altitude lavender.
Lucky you, how long are you there?
Thanks Robin! We leave here tomorrow but return again in a couple of weeks. In the meantime we are going through Colorado, Wyoming, S.Dakota and Montana!
Fun…perfect time of year to be out west.
Draining my decant of Terracotta today. THUNK! I layered it with BBW Sun body cream. A nice pairing. This cream would go well with most beachy perfumes I think. I can’t believe it’s only Tuesday!
Yay!!!! for another THUNK! What is next?
Not sure, I will have to see what catches my eye.
thunk thunk thunk !!!!! yay!
I was a little sad to see this one go because I wanted to try it in the winter, but the weather here made it the perfect choice.
Na!! You’ll find other beauties to wear in the winter 🙂
True. 98 percent of my perfumes are fall/winter. Which is good because a good 75 percent of the year, it’s either cold or freezing here.
I can send you some if you want. ????. Let me know.
If you have a sample of AG Songes, that reminds me of Terracotta. It would definitely be a pick me up in winter!
I don’t have a sample. Almost caved and blind bought a bottle from zullily, but then.. didn’t.
I would say that not blind buying the bottle was a good call. I think Songes is lovely, but it is not a safe blind buy.
Wearing Fleur de Liane because I wanted something cooling on yet another hot day.
Tea will be a White Peony Jasmin that is just gorgeous!
The sustained heat is so hard to endure… Hope the scent and the tea have helped. I bet that tea would be delicious iced, too!
Ah, peaches. Sigh. I started Week 2 of my diet (South Beach, the old version from the book and not the current we-sell-you-our-food version) and am off all grain/rice/potato/fruit carbs until next Monday, so I cannot eat the gorgeous white nectarines that are tempting me from the fruit bowl in the kitchen. Every time I walk by, I swoon; gotta get the kids to eat them up!
I am wearing beautiful Ines de la Fressange: peach, rose, sandalwood, benzoin. I smell like bellinis in the summer garden.
Good luck with the diet!
I remember when someone told me they were on a south beach diet I remarked “wow..I have always wanted to go there” Thinking they were dieting for their upcoming south beach vacation. Now I know better. Thats just how far away I am from these types of things. Good luck!
That must be tough – white nectarines smell amazing!
And best of luck with the diet. I lost about 30 pounds over the last year doing an old school (counting calories) / new school (using an app to track calories & exercise) approach. The first 2-3 weeks were definitely the hardest – you can do it!
Staying fresh in Burt’s Bees Garden Tomato Toner, which I decant into a spray bottle and use like a cologne. It’s a nice pick-me-up.
I found two mini bottle steals on ebay last week, and both arrived while I was out of town on a camping trip over the weekend! Grey Flannel and Eau de Givenchy. Both have been on my to-try list for a long time, so I can’t wait to give them a proper test-drive when I get home.
OOO I have been wondering about that Tomato Toner because I love tomato leaf as a note…and it is cheap as chips!
Grey Flannel…love for me…had an FB that I wore when I was 18 many moons ago!
Eau de Givenchy was the one that got away in the 1980s for me….but I also got a mini a few months ago and loved it.
Enjoy your new treasures!!!!
I’ve been sitting on a sample of Pulp forever and decided Peach Week was the time to try it out. Definitely getting a fuzzy peach skin vibe from the opening. Nicely done, but I’m still not a big fruity fan.
NPR published a list of the 200 Greatest Songs by 21st Century Women and I’ve been enjoying it a lot – music fans who need something to read should take a look! (not sure if it’s okay to link, but it can be easily found by Googling the title).
It is ok to link, and thanks, I will read that!
https://www.npr.org/2018/07/30/627395449/turning-the-tables-the-200-greatest-songs-by-21st-century-women-part-1
Cool, thanks! I love music lists!
I am wearing MdO Dojima, which I find I can wear in warm weather, as well as cooler temperatures.
I have often thought that you have an interesting collection and I enjoy your SOTD posts (even when I have to look up the new-to-me perfumes!).
Hi all, I’m icing my hip for awhile after the rigors of PT exercise. Some of that is HARD! I’m wearing Chinatown, but just a teeny spray, since I didn’t want to overwhelm my therapist. Hope people are having a good day.
PT is really hard! Hopefully it will become easier as you get stronger.
Hang in there!
Smelling good !!!
PT made me realize I ought to do all my exercise with a personal trainer. I just do not push myself that hard!
Physio is hard, but worth it. I spent a year on my shoulder after surgery. Hang in there!
Today’s SOTD is Ambre by Reminiscence Paris, it’s 55 degrees in SF, I needed a cozy and warm scent today! Headed out for another cup of coffee, I can’t wake up!
Thank you SmokeyToes! Reminding me I have a bottle of that and I should break it out soon and give it a spritz!
55 degrees F sounds wonderful right now!
The coldest winter is summer in San Francisco!
Hello, dear friends! Happy birthday to me–turning 31 on the 31st! It’s my square birthday, maybe! For my square birthday, I am wearing Olfactive Studio Lumiere Blanche, which was given to me a while back by my best friend, with whom I incidentally had breakfast this morning, so as to have started my day off right 🙂 So I got to work at the leisurely hour of 9:30, and really I am feeling little need to exert myself too much today.
Over the past few days, I have been positively showered with love and presents, and the boyfriend’s and parents’ presents are still to come, so I’m feeling lucky, spoiled, and lazy 🙂
Keep smelling great, friends!
Happy birthday to you! 🙂
Happy Birthday, Koyel!
happy birthday squared! I hope your happiness increases geometrically. 😀
Blessings to you on your birthday!

Happy birthday, Koyel!
Wishing you a happy birthday and hope you’ve had a fantastic day so far!
Happy birthday Koyel!
????❤️⚜️????????????????????????
You are all awesome. Thank you for your wonderfully kind birthday wishes and the piles of love! <3
Happy Birthday Koyel!!
It had been a long while since I’d worn it, so I had to go with Cuir de Lancome today.
Y’all are smelling good!
You are smelling great yourself! I gave myself a good dosing the other night before going out and could smell it on my sheets the next morning. So good.
Cuir de Lancome is one of the few scents I can think of that is a 4-season perfume. It works anytime and anywhere. You smell fantastic!
SotD = Vol de Nuit edt
Usually a night time scent for me, it is lovely in the early hours. VdN was front and center so I grabbed and spritzed. Will be Berdoues house twins with PriscillaE and Robin later today when I wear Selva do Brazil from a sample.
In a summer funk, trying not to think too hard about things. Sometimes it’s best to just get on with life already. The to-do list beckons. My clothes/perfume closet still needs a major tidy. I’d like to finish sorting FBs and decants, probably will group them by house and/or fragrance category, with favorites/most worn in the front row.
true confession: I was on vacation at the beach last week. Traveling by car means no luggage restrictions. I took 15 FBs. I think I used 6. I was happily distracted by other things.
on your last point, no judgment here!
ha! thanks, ltsg. I’m grateful this is a judgment free zone.
I’m sorry to hear your in a funk. I hope it doesn’t last long. You seem like such a positive person and are so kind when others are down. Sending hugs????
hugs right back at you, lillyjo! 😀
Oh, my true confession, I have multiple samples and a bottle of my sotd in my purse every day.
oooh, excellent purse-perfume strategy! we must be prepared for all contingencies.
I totally understand about the 15 bottles 🙂 My perfumes are one of the things I miss when I am on vacation, and I try to take as many as I can.
Hugs to you Tiffanie.
glad I’m not alone, I too miss my perfume darlings when I am away. When packing for vacation last week I filled up a small tote with FBs, didn’t even count them until I got home. 😉
Sorry to hear that you are in a summer funk, tiffanie. Hugs!
hugs to you, Jalapeno! that’s life, sometimes ya gotta deal with the funk. At least we all smell great.
Going with it is the best way to deal with a funk of any sort. I’ve noticed that fighting it only seems to make it worse. As the song says “You got to roll with the punches and get to what’s real…”
Hugs to you, Tiffanie! I always feel a funk more intensely in summer since it doesn’t really match the generally more festive, vacation-y atmosphere of the season.
And, yes, car trips are good for hauling perfumes for every possible mood and setting ???? I’ve indulged.
I hear you! Summer funk is so glaring. But this too shall pass, and in a cloud of citrus and flowers to boot. 😉
Feel better , Tiffanie!
thanks, cm8!
You know, as the day wears on, I feel I’m getting on top of it. Perfume and NST are both a balm for the soul. And Berdoues Selva do Brazil helps out this afternoon. 😀
yes that is a very cheerful scent and I adore the bottle too!
I always take approximately 3 perfumes per day of vacation with me though I try not to bring full bottles, especially on a car ride, not to subject my perfumes to high temperatures in the trunk.
Three perfumes per day sounds perfect to me. 🙂
I thought you were going to say you took 15 bags and that did not faze me in the least. I am not a light packer if I’m going by car. But I don’t tend to bring much perfume, partially because the car is probably going to get hot and partially for other reasons.
Agree! 15 bags is a real possibility when traveling by car. For this annual summer trip I sometimes attempt to bring everything we need for the week, including the food I cook in the condo kitchen, so I don’t have to shop for groceries on vacation.
Sorry you’re in a funk but hopefully perfumes will chase it away! Why not wear the 9 you didn’t wear to feel like you’re in an extension of your beach vacation?
I have perfumes that live in my suitcase year-round (No.5 EDT travel spray and a decant of No. 19 EDP), then I have a dollar store hard plastic pencil box where I pick one Atelier Cologne 30mL bottle for the trip, one to two SSS travel sprays and one or two other decants; sometimes, costume jewelry lives with the perfume. If I have room in the luggage, I bring my smaller EdM Bleue and No. 5 L’Eau. Oh and since I have the set of 8 x 4mL Atelier Cologne travel sprays, I will be bringing a few of them in lieu of the other decants.
Excellent perfume packing strategies!
It’s like you can read my mind. This evening I finally unpacked the tote bag full of vacation perfume. I lined them up so I can wear them all at least once before they go back on their shelf. 😉
Hope you feel much better now. Sending hugs!
I do! Thanks, pl67. In between finishing items on my to-do list, I treated my nose to lots of perfume. I spritzed on six scents today.
SOTD is Fig Tea. Osmanthus is sort of a cousin to peach.
Indeed it is 😉
i’m wearing tory burch bel azur, chosen at random. it is pretty crummy.
Can you spray something else on top of it?
luckily it’s mostly gone now!
ouch, sorry, hope it’s gone soon! Pretty Crummy should be a fragrance category over on Fragrantica. 😉
Cristalle EDT for the peach note and because it fits my outfit vibe of vintage 70s cream silk skirt with an orange, gold, and brown scarf print and long gold plated geometric necklace. The heat wave has finally broken today! I’ve never been so happy for clouds and grey sky.
My St. Clair sample arrived this weekend, and last night I tested First Cut and Gardener’s Glove. They’re both so good! I immediately fell in love with First Cut, and Gardener’s Glove grew on me the more it developed. It’s really intriguing and original the way the leather is so strong up front and then mellows and allows the green notes and florals to shine. Usually it’s the other way around with perfume note development.
I love them both as well 🙂 Enjoy your sampling!
OH and First Cut smells amazing on a man! I spray it on my hubs from time to time and the bottle lives on his side of the bathroom cabinet now.
I’m not even going to put it on my boyfriend because I want it all for myself!
Robin, I thought that was a photo of stubbed out cigarette butts …and then I put on my glasses. I tried Aura again. I still like the camphor opening but after 15 minutes it developed into something very synthetic ( raspberry sweet milky wood ) that brought to mind the Zadig and Voltaire perfumes…it clung on for ages and seemed to get sweeter and denser.
The witch hazel is in full bloom. They used the wood for divining rods…divining is a job you don’t see advertised very often. Prada mimosa.
Ha! Glasses always help 🙂
Witch hazel in bloom is so pretty, and here at least, it blooms when nothing else is blooming. I keep thinking I will plant some and then I never do.
Wearing vintage Miss Dior today. I had forgotten how slutty the vintage version is. On day three of my vacation and have already read all of the new books on my Kindle and looking for more.
One of my favorite perfumes of all time !!
You smell great!
Azemour for life!
🙂
Aren’t you going to get bored using the same one perfume for life? 😉
Wearing Pays Dogon by Monsillage. Reminds me of Timbuktu by AP. I like it except it’s very linear and strong and my nose is getting tired
Sometimes short lasting power is a blessing. Timbuktu is just right for me.
I need to investigate what I might have with a peach note, other than the obvious Mitsouko. I’ll save that for Friday, meanwhile I think I’ll go with Sacreblue today, it’s a good powerful scent for a cold day.
It is too hot here for peach orientals, I think…I wish I had PdN Folie, and I might, but haven’t found it yet. I will keep looking.
Another grey, muggy, gloomy day. Still hasn’t rained yet, although some places near me were clobbered yesterday. It feels like the clouds are taunting me, like the French knights in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”
SOTD = Angel Aqua Chic EdT, the 2012 version, from the sample stash. I like the parent fragrance better.
I just looked up some of the taunts. ????
They are rather expressive, aren’t they? ????
“Your father smelt of elderberries!”
might actually be a compliment around here. 😉
Oooh!!!! Yesss!!
Is the Aqua Chic anything like Angel?I feel like water and Angel shouldn’t mix.
It’s related, but much lighter than the original. It has some florals in it that I feel don’t meld with the rest of the fragrance. Kind of like hearing someone drop a spoon on the kitchen floor.
It is NOT an aquatic, despite having the word “Aqua” in its name. (Thank goodness!!) It is missing the caramel and heavy fruit notes of its parent.
Honestly, this weather!!!!! Most annoying.
Yeah! Or should I say “Yech!”
I feel ya on the weather! I’ve scheduled appointments with two different companies to come and assess my water drainage problems. (CHA CHING! CHA CHING! is echoing in my head as I contemplate…)
Water drainage issues??? Oh no!
PSA-tomorrow is RABBIT RABBIT RABBIT
Ah, I missed it today. I needed the reminder yesterday.
Thanks for the reminder. I need to move poseable wabbit to my nightstand.
I do that too. 🙂
oh oh oh!
thank you thank you thank you!
Thank you! More than once I wished somebody would remind me about the approaching rabbit 🙂
Thank you for the reminder!
Late to the party!
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EDP
I’ve had a very busy day today but pretty pleased with what I got done since there were some deadlines that needed to be met today!
No. 19 is your “Get It Done!” scent.
Yes it is!
Yay! That feeling of achievement can restore the soul. Toasting you with sparkling water —
Thank you, my dear!
