It's Monday, and it's Paperback Book Day, and it's the International Day of Friendship. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: waking up slowly in Grace by Grace Coddington.
Reminder: on 8/3, we'll celebrate Peach Month! You know what to do.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Sparkling Limoncello body cream B&BW
YUM! the body wash is equally as lovely 🙂
I can use a limoncello to drink one of these days..
Ooh yum! I have some Josie Maran body cream in limoncello and it’s delightful.
Looks like we are in for another rainy week.
Chanel Deauville for me today!
We have storms in the forecast every day for the next 12 days, ugh!
Tresor…..all week long…I have a travel spray gifted to me by a very generous NSTer and after this week it will probably be done.
I used to have a mini of this one… Definitely peachy! You smell great.
Thanks Glannys! I like it too and will enjoy wearing it all week long.
Oh and International Day of Friendship! Lovely!!!!
I used to wear and loved Tresor years ago when I worked at Lord and Taylor. I would spray it on each time before my shift started. I may have to revisit this one. Good Stuff!
I wore it back in the day as well
It’s fun to revisit.
Me too, I wore it in the early 90’s. I used to love it, haven’t smelled it in years.
Tresor is so lovely! I have a 30ml that I bought many years ago. It doesn’t matter how many times I have sprayed on it, it feels like the juice increases instead of going down. I have not worn it for a while, so I will probably have some on Friday.
Yours is probably vintage then which I believe packs more of a punch than current juice.
Isn’t that always the case? Never ever ever getting to the bottom-LOL!
If you decide to wear it on Friday we will be scent twins 🙂
Do you know if the bottle of treasure has been the same all these years or has it changed?
I think the current bottle may be slightly different…more stout and shorter than the older ones which were thinner and taller. Someone with more expertise might chime in. Right now I am using a travel spray which looks pretty generic so not sure what the current bottles look like in real life. My guess is if you bought your bottle years ago it is probably pre reform
My bottle of Tresor is around 15 years old and it is taller than the current one. I really love the bottle. I will browse online for some photographs. I am very curious now.
I think that you have the old one
I adore Tresor, you smell lovely! 🙂
thank you, Smokey Toes!
I’m wearing the last of my decant of Anné Pliska. It isn’t peachy, but after Robin mentioned the Juicy Fruit aspect of it, I could never un-smell that! 🙂 Didn’t bother me, though, I like(d) it anyway.
Ha, and I can’t even remember saying that!
Oops… please forgive me if I’ve mis-attributed!! The association between the scents got implanted in my brain, somehow…
Or, I said it and I’ve forgotten! Nobody need forgive anything 🙂
I used to have a bottle of PdN’s Kiss Me Tender (the original – I think it’s discontinued now) and it also had a Juicy Fruit note. Once I noticed it, it was all I could smell, alas.
I own KMT and get soft powdery marshmallow and hay with a bit of anise. It’s sweet but more of a confectioners sugar than juicy fruit gum to me.
I often read reviews that made it sound so lovely (just like yours does) but it was straight-up gum on me. I’ve since figured out that heliotrope is tricky on my skin.
Ahh, I see.
Chance Fraiche flanker
french press coffee
I am reading a paperback called Sand. Translated from German and very good so far…
love the image Robin
The USDA has such a great fruit collection 🙂
Two peach scents today actually: YSL Yvresse in the morning, Sl Bois et Fruits in the afternoon. Although SL is more about plum than peach.
Go us! 🙂
Two great scents!
SOTD BoE.
Weather forecast: “Smoky and Hot.”
A day full of paperwork and sitting on my arse listening to the usual baloney. T-Rex gave me the accusatory eyes as I walked out the door.
Gah! Monday????
SOTD: Changed my mind. I decided to go with PdE Corsica Furiosa in hopes it would lift my flagging spirits.
https://youtu.be/Zlht31L3ERQ
Had to add this because this wonderful homeowner is sharing desperately needed resources (water) with wild life. AND he didn’t act like a screaming, raving jerk! This perked me up to no end. That cougar momma had succefully kept three cubs alive. Go momma!
I hope you all stay safe!!
These raging wildfires are so tragic and especially shocking when the cause is found to be man-made.
WHO DOES something like that?
They are amazingly powerful and destructive. The loss of life, human and animal, and huge impact on habitat is just so horrible. I think only a couple were intentionally started, but even a ”couple” is too many. It’s a good thing I’m not in charge of the world, because I would not be forgiving of any type of violent crime. And arson is a violent crime in my mind.
Thanks for that video. I would be so thrilled if they were on my porch (with me inside). Mountain lions are my absolute favorite big cat. So beautiful.
Isn’t it great?!! I would be happy to share, too, but of course, T-Rex would not being going outside unaccompanied. Amazing animals! ????
Unbelievably smokey here, as well, Deva. It looks like there’s been a volcanic eruption (it is, of course, the terrible wildfires across California). I think you might be further north than me right now, closer to the Redding fire. Stay safe.
We are getting a lot from Redding, but there are also fires here in Nevada in Sparks and near Pyamid Lake. Surrounded. Are you in Cali? I was thinking you were in Colorado…?
I’m just southwest of Death Valley, in a small town called Ridgecrest. We’re getting smoke from all sides.
Take care! I can’t even imagine hot hot your temps are today????
sending you rain!
Thanks! ????????
Smoky here too, although we don’t have the air alert that seems to be covering the entire Central Valley. Doesn’t smell bad, just a yellow haze everywhere. CA can be very inhospitable sometimes…it’s a far more harsh environment than most folks realize.
Deva, thanks for posting that video! So awesome! Would LOVE for you to have some of the rain that’s in the forecast for me. I am sick of unsettled wet summer weather.
Second that.
Cristalle EDT for me today — supposed to get to 100F here. Arrrggghhhhh.
SheriG, stay in the AC today. This weather is a killer. Literally.
It’s also National Cheesecake Day! Yum!????
My SOTD is the ever so ripe and juicy fragrance of BlackBerry and Bay by Jo Malone. It smells delicious.
I wonder if there is such a thing as BlackBerry cheesecake…hmm
Cheesecake is the best cake!
I have had blackberry cheesecake
I’m wearing the last of my Zoologist discovery set – Hummingbird. Very sweet and floral. I like it.
Did the discovery set spark a FB purchase of anything?
It’s very rare that I’ll spring for a full bottle. Many more wearings are necessary. There are one or two that I will buy as 5ml decants. Civet is definitely one. I loved the dry down on that.
I need to try civet…!
I’m wearing the beautiful L’attesa, thanks to the beautiful PL67. Fitting wonderfully with my beautiful weather.
Serious weather envy here. ????
I think the Midwest has the most beautiful summers, it’s the trade off, I guess for the hard winters.
So glad you are wearing L’Atessa and enjoying it! I really, really love it!
I know you do. It’s very special to me.
You smell fancy!
I feel fancy! Lol????
Good morning Y’all….
One more week of summer vacay! The hubs is already back for faculty stuff. This summer flew by….
Wearing Stash Unspoken…a gentle cozy scent to ease into the week!
I finally was able to smell this at ULTA the other day. It’s very pretty. I think they could have just called it Unspoken. It didn’t seem at all related to Stash.
I agree! Was tempted to call it Pink Stash…N
SotD is Eau des Merveilles Bleue.
Perfect for (continuing) hot weather.
Usually I am not a fan of aquatics/marine scents, but this works for me.
It smells like a dive into salty ocean water.
I somehow missed this one. Last summer I found some marine scents I liked so I might give this flanker a try 🙂
I think you’ll like it ????
You smell wonderful.
I am wearing Hermessence Cedre Sambac and drinking green tea
How do you find it? Was my least favorite among 3 new Hermessence actually
Ditto, I want to know too.
I haven’t tried that one but I am curious
I really like it 🙂 I wore Myrrhe Eglantine last week and liked it when I first sprayed, but started to dislike it on me as the day went on. I haven’t tried Agar Ebene yet.
I wore ME yesterday and it smelled like dill pickles and mint toothpaste. Eeeek.
I love that one, it’s my favourite of the new three.
I’ve been wearing Cedre Sambac non-stop for a week, and can say that I am obsessed; so good!
Yvresse today, hoping I can do a week of peach fragrances. I didn’t like Yvresse the first time I sniffed it but now I find it totally addictive. I’m going to need another bottle. 🙂
Which bottle type do you have? I noticed the La Collection ones seem to have 2 versions, a clear, and an opaque. I agree, it’s has an addictive smell.
I actually have the last bits of an original bottle that I’m savoring. I’m not looking forward too figuring the reformulation though.
Oh, lucky! Report back if you figure out the reforms. I’ve only ever smelled the original, but have been curious about the newer versions.
(Partial) scent twins!
Happy International Friendship Day to all friends of mine and all non-friends of mine (we eventually will become friends too!)
I started the week by wearing Cornaline from Anatole Lebreton. It happes to have peach note too, even though it’s not in the spotlight (ylang, iris and carrot are)
Have a calm weekend. Today we have 32*C here. Going swimming later to cool down.
????????????❤️
Wow, 32C! You are having typical summer weather for the East Coast of the US.
Thirdman Eau Nomade today.. it’s like a cardamom laced eau de cologne. Maybe a tad cheap smelling on the dry down though. Looking forward to NYC next week. I have one free day to hit aedes, min, Osswald and the new Saks Fifth Avenue perfume floor. Any other suggestions on must visit NYC perfume destinations?
I was at Perfumarie on Lafayette St (not far from MIN or Osswald) for the 1st time a few weeks ago. I recommend! They have a blind sniffing experience and also carry some lines not available at some of the other shops (Zoologist, Jazmin Sarai, Christophe Laudamiel’s The Zoo collection to name a few).
If you go to Aedes, Bigelow Pharmacy is a quick stop right across the street.
Yes, unfortunately is Monday again, ????. Busy weekend and I am exhausted and falling asleep on my desk. Coffee to the rescue, since I have another crazy week here at work.
Wearing Diptyque L’Ombre Dans L’Eau. Clunk! Thunk! Plunk! Good bye my dear sample! ????. Being green scents lover, this has been on my never ending fb shopping list for a long time. It might be one of the perfumes I get at the end of the year. Who knows…
Have a nice day everyone!
Passing on the enabling from Ede97005 last week, there’s a $72 Diptyque gift set in the Nordstrom anniversary sale that includes a mini of L’Ombre plus candles and a few other minis… yes I bought one, but it was a gift card so I’m sure it doesn’t count!
Thanks for the info! I will wait for a while since I am still undecided on what I will buy next. Decisions…..
What a cute set! Wish I wanted all 3 of the fragrances.
Another one used up! ????
It feel really good! 😀
I will share my 32 oz diet coke with you, to help keep you awake????, plus some sunshine ????
Please, send them! I am barely surviving today! 😀
Oh boy!!! Get some coffee…STAT!
Yay to another sample gone!!! You know you love it and it will always be there when you are ready to make another purchase.
I remember years ago Dyptique used to do sample sales in the city. Do they still do that? Maybe you could pick up a bottle then at a significantly discounted price.
I am not sure if Diptyque still do the sample sales. I remember going to the
annual sale at Century21 where I grabbed my fb of Philosykos and some candles and perfumes for holiday presents, but I lost track of it.
I think century 21 is out of business , right?
I understand they are still open. I used to go to the one downtown in Broadway by the WTC.
Ah maybe that is what I am thinking ….the WTC one.
I was about to post, that no, Century 21 is still around. They opened up a store in downtown Philly in the last couple of years, if memory serves.
You smell good!
Thank you! ????
☕????. After all, you will need something to go with all that coffee.
Oh yes! Something sweet will do it! ????
I am wearing New Haarlem today. It’s taken me years to be able to try it – at one point I even called Bond no 9 to ask to buy a sample and they refused. But thanks to Millicent, I obtained a decant at the latest freebiemeet.
And I’m in love. Ooh boy, this smells good! I don’t dare leave the air conditioned house because I might suffocate, but it smells glorious.
Have a wonderful day. Stay cool, or if it’s your winter, stay warm!
New Haarlem is my favorite Bond No.9. I usually wear it in colder weather, but the coffee note with lavender is absolutely gorgeous and addictive.
I cannot believe that they wouldn’t even sell you a sample! I have wanted to try New Haarlem as well because I love coffee and I love lavender but I can wait. I probably should have sampled it when I was in SAKS not that long ago. There is always next time as I am not in a rush to try anything that “might” turn into a lemming-LOL!
Sadly I could not detect the lavender in NH, wish I could.
Do you smell the coffee? Or is it more of a gourmand (as in sweet milky latte?)
Yes, but it’s very syrupy.
Ah so not dark black coffee
I still smell fairly strongly of the Smell Bent Prairie Nymph I put on last night, so that’s my SOTD. Even though it’s an EDT it goes on with an oily sheen, so I think that’s why it’s so long lasting. I’m almost done with my travel spray and ordered a full bottle last night at 25% off. I’ve loved this one since its release sand have gone through 1 travel spray before this one, so it was time. I also threw in a travel spray of 1999, which is described as grapefruit soda.
Do report back on the 1999, I would love a grapefruit soda fragrance!
I will!
Dame Peach Blossom, Violet and Vanilla. I have a bottle of this but I’m finding that I can rarely wear it- it overwhelms me.????. Peach and I are only friends in chypres, I think.
Yes for some strange reason that one did not work for me either. My full bottle is in one of the Marzipans’ room…not sure which one.
In chypres is pretty much the only instance I really do *not* like peach…
We have some likes in common but often when reading your posts and blog I feel like we are evil scent twins!
Ha ha…I was thinking the same thing but did not want to say it 😉
Mals did you ever get around to trying First Cut? Just curious…..
Trying out Roger & Gallet The Fantaisie and Tubereuse Hédonie today.
Both are quite lovely.
Hey She-ra, since you seem to shop of the evil bay a lot, have you ever had a problem when you didn’t receive an item you purchased?
I did once; it just disappeared into the postal miasma. If tracking shows it wasn’t delivered then you should have no issues getting your money back; Ebay is totally biased in favor of the buyer. Contact the seller first, and if they don’t make it right, just file a claim with Ebay.
2nd this. I buy most of my perfume there and have only had a couple of issues. They were rectified by ebay.
Yep. Ebay nearly always sides with the buyer. Just file a claim.
I have found that eBay wants buyers and sellers to both be happy because they make money off both ends. So any problems you have that the seller won’t rectify open an issue and follow the process and you will get a refund. eBay will ultimately take the hit for both buyers and sellers to ensure both sides are happy and keeping buying/selling.
Still on London trip, so wearing Privet Bloom, but unfortunately all I can smell is something by a brand I was formerly unaware of called Memo, fragrance is Irish Leather & a lovely chap in Harvey Nicks got a little over-enthusiastic when spritzing me this morning! I’ve washed my arm at least 3 times, to no avail, & must confess I’m not a fan. The company has a pretty large range, & some of the prices are just ridiculous, & the brand’s concept struck me as a little pretentious. Also popped by Jovoy & Liberty but nothing grabbed me, so at least I won’t have to revisit any of the above when I’m back in November. The Nicolai shop in Seymour Street is on tomorrow’s ‘to do’ list, but I have to be at Heathrow mid afternoon, so don’t think I’ll have time to do anything else ‘smellies related’ as I do have a couple of other things to do.
I would agree with that characterization of Memo! Good luck at PdN.
Interesting you think the same, Robin – I wondered if I was being cynical! Thank you re PdN – can’t actually buy anything due to the handcarry thing, but will do my best to blag a couple of samples…
Heathrow perfume shopping is not bad, if you have some time.
It’s an internal UK flight, so no duty free, moreover 100ml per container max still applies – believe me, I’ve thought of buying sample sets when i’ve been elsewhere in the UK with hand carry luggage only but dismantling lovely packaging to then try to fit however many samples into regulation plastic bag when one already has minis of cleanser, toner, moisturiser, shampoo, handcream, deodorant, wet wipes (yes, they count as ‘liquid’!), toothpaste, lip balm & most importantly fragrance, is packing as an art form in itself!
Grey and not too hot today. I went with PdE La Cri de la Lumiere today from a second sample. Still really liking it!
I’m wearing ELDO Noel au Balcon today. It has an apricot note, not peach, but close enough I say. I think I might have enough peachy things to do the rest of the week.
I’m in three sprays of Gucci Guilty and one spray of D&G The One. Both have peach notes according to Fragrantica, but I can only detect a little bit of peach in The One. ????
That’s interesting. When I was regularly wearing from my bottle of D&G The One, it smelled like a vanilla peach litchi milkshake. Wonder if the fruit notes are still there?
I love peach scents, but they feel too heavy for the heat. Maybe later in the week when it’s supposed to cool off a bit. SOTD is Hermes Rhubarbe Ecarlate, need something tart to cut the heat.
Husband got called up to go fight the fires in Mendocino county. He left at 10pm Saturday night, should be there for a week. You know resources are stretched thin when they start calling up volunteers to go out of the area; usually they hold down the fort at home while the paid guys get moved around the state. He’s thrilled, of course; me, notsomuch. At least I know he’s just driving a water tender (big box of water on wheels) making deliveries to the engines that are fighting the fires… a bit safer than being on the lines. Hoping everyone up there stays safe.
Sending safety vibes to your husband and all of the fire fighters.
Good luck to your husband and it’s very generous of his time to help in such troublesome times!
Best wishes for safety and a huge thank you to your husband. I just saw the Mendocino fires…that’s rough terrain along Hwy 20. This is the kind of year where I just leave the Cal Fire website tab open.
Well, if you have to be in the middle of a wildfire, next to the water tank is the best place to be!
Coming back from LA a couple of weeks ago, 3 trucks from the Horseshoe Meadow Hotshots passes me by on I5, headed north. They are probably still fighting whatever fire they were headed to. I really don’t know how these guys can do it week after week! I think firefighters are the definition of heros. Best of luck to your hubby!
Sending positive stay safe vibes to your DH and his coworkers.
Fingers crossed that your DH stays safe! ???? ????
Best wishes for your husband and to you for having to worry.
One my second day of vacation and just took a shower after doing the dishes and vacuuming while wearing CK One. Talk about blast from the past. I enjoyed the decant but it’s not really full bottle for me, even though it’s cheap. I am in Amouage Lyric body stuff and loving it. I would love the Epic body stuff too. Maybe for my birthday.
I sprayed CK One yesterday while at Kohl’s for fun. It is definitely a blast from the past and not FB worthy for me either!
I’m wearing Trayee. I will have an awful lot to account for when Donatelle visits us again 😉
Nice!
SOTD is Grimoire. This is such an elegant piece. It reminds me of a combination of Mem by Bogue and Lux by Mona d’Orio. The cedar and lavender jump out and blend so beautifully in an understated incensy way that i can’t stop smelling the scent. It has a graceful undertone that seems like a skin scent. Really beautiful. I want a full bottle.
That sounds appealing, must sample.
wow that sounds nice. Thank you for your description.
Lavender makes my nose happy. Tthank you for describing Grimoire, and for mentioning MEM, you prompted me to wear it today. 😀
Hey AB, we usually like the same perfumes but Grimoire was a big NO for me. Upon opening my vial, I smell cumin and BO but tried it on skin anyway. I couldn’t scrub it off fast enough. To each his own!
I love this one too! I haven’t bought a full bottle because I’m afraid other people will only smell the cumin and BO on me like hajusuuri mentioned.
Lonesome Rider just because…
reason enough!!!!!
Seconding what CM8 said!
I’m terribly sleepy this morning after an exciting weekend. I had a birthday party on Saturday night (my birthday is tomorrow) with eighteen guests, which is a lot for a not-large apartment! It was panic-inducing because we nearly ran out of food!!!!!! This has never ever happened to me. I usually make about 1.5x as much food as I need, but this time, I miscalculated desperately.
I did get PRESENTS! Lots of smelly things (soaps, bath bombs, creams), and my Parisian friend gave me a gorgeous sample set from Sens Unique, a perfumerie in Paris that I haven’t seen mentioned here. From that set, I’m wearing Cuir de Reve by David Jourquin today! It’s a gorgeous, sweet, warm leather with a heavy dose of patchouli and vanilla.
We are showing my French friend a good old American time! We went on a fruit tree walk, went to supermarkets (American supermarkets are fabulous!), and went on a fairly arduous seven-mile hike through the redwood forests. That’s pretty typically American, right? We chose our meals carefully–Korean for the first lunch, then Mexican for the second lunch and solid American burgers for the second dinner. I’m determined to convince her that the food scene in America is roughly infinitely superior to the French impression of the American food scene (I think they think we eat McDonald’s all the time).
2 things I have yet to find in Cleveland: korean food (how will I get through winter without a korean tofu house?) and real Mexican. There are Mexican restaurants here but possibly no real tacos…
Don’t forget tollhouse, peanut butter, and oatmeal cookies. Or red velvet, carrot, and German chocolate cake. And fruit pies! To demonstrate our authority on the dessert front ???? Good show thus far!
Oh, and happy birthday! Not at all surprised to learn you are a Leo 😉
Oh, really? Please explain!
Ack!!! you are making me very hungry 😉
????
If they are French, they must love wine. Offer a Californian Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay (Luminus from Beringer is amazing). Red velvet and carrot cake aren’;t wins with my French friends but they like salted caramel icecream – i think salted caramel is different in US than in France but in a good way. And obviously American steakhouses make a good impression, it’s hard to beat a good classic American steak – and did you know American cuts are actually different from European ones?
She doesn’t like peanut butter 🙁 but I did make her oatmeal cookies when we lived near each other in France, and she did like those! I didn’t even think of those as particularly American, actually.
Just don’t try to convince them on root beer. In my experience, only Americans like it.
Glad you had a nice birthday. That sample set sounds wonderful.
Hahahaha. Now I wish I had tried! She’s already a bit of a finicky eater though (a French person who hates foie gras, oysters, CHEESE!!!, and mushrooms!), so I am sure she would’ve been one of the non-root-beer-enjoying non-Americans of which you speak 🙂
HAppy birthday in advance!
Thanks, cazaubon!
Have fun with your friend and enjoy all the yummy food!
Thanks!
Enjoy the time with your French friend! And congrats on the B-day loot! ????
Thank you 🙂 I will!
Happy Borthday! It sounded like you had a great time. As to running out of food, what will your mother say ????
Fat fingered – a Happy BIrthday!
Thank you!! I will most certainly not tell her >.< 😮
Hot again today. I’m wearing Amyris femme.
Enjoying my sample of Bal d’Afrique today – technically no peach note but it does have a fruity aspect.
Started two fairly good mystery/thriller TV series over the weekend: Killing Eve and The Frozen Dead. Both worth a look for anyone who needs something to watch!
Thank you! I binged The Frozen Dead but did not know about Killing Eve…to the list it goes 🙂
I enjoyed Bal d’Afrique and miss my sample of it.
Cool overcast day that began with Prada Vetiver on top of arms and an accidental drenching of Eau Guerlain beneath. The latter faded alarmingly quickly.
I’m now in Phaedon Dzhari, which I wore and loved a couple of summers ago. We’ll see if it lives up to my memories (I just sprayed.)
I’ll be eating peaches this week (they’re ripening on the counter right now.) Peach is one of the few perfume notes I can’t abide so won’t be wearing any.
I have had a peach every day for the past week 🙂
Friendship day and paperback book day – my best friend (who is now miles away in San Francisco) loves books and this makes me think of her a lot.
Since she loves vanilla, i’m in a double-vanilla combo of Lush Vanillary and Hermessence Vanille Galante – which is actually a gift from her.
So it’s a sweet smelling day with sweet thoughts too!
Perfume, friendship, perfection! You smell great.
thank you, that’s so sweet
Wish I had more peach-centric scents with me. So, it’s a blend of Stella and Embrace again for me.
Hoping my sister and I can make a trip into SF to go to the place in the Castro.
I don’t smell smoke, but I swear I taste it….
Interesting about the smoke!
Back from my colonoscopy (no gory details, sorry for even mentioning the word)… this was a screening because I hit that big birthday this year. Everything seems to be fine. 🙂 Wore beloved Le Temps d’une Fete.
This is the last week Gaze will be at home this summer! Va Tech doesn’t start classes until Aug. 20, but he’s one of the sophomore cadets designated to assist with New Cadet Week, so he has to move back on the 5th and do a week of training beforehand as well as work the following week. His cousin (who’s not in the Corps of Cadets) doesn’t have to move in until the 18th and I’m a little jealous of my SIL.
I hope all went smoothly for you Mals! Those are no fun at all.
Glad things went well and enjoy your time with Gaze. You smell great.
Good to hear that “the procedure” went well. Hopefully you won’t have to deal with another one for quite a while. Not pleasant at all!
Enjoy this week with your son!
Hi everyone! SOTD is Kiehl’s Musk oil with a squirt of SL’s Bois Vanille. 🙂
I discovered an enjoyable book in the dollar bin at my library, written by Nelson DeMille called The Panther. I’m only a few chapters in, but already, it’s quite engrossing and enjoyable, the author really did his research on Middle Eastern cultures.
Tried a new recipe this weekend, it’s Padma Lakshmi’s Yogurt Rice – it’s a mixture of rice, cool yogurt and cucumber mixed with spicy chilis and mustart seeds. It’s spicy (which I like) but I’m afraid burnt my poor husband’s tongue off!
https://food52.com/recipes/77349-padma-lakshmi-s-yogurt-rice
That recipe looks good
The folks at work were all peering over at my lunch. 🙂
This recipe makes enough for a small army!
😉
I am going to talk my youngest into making it for me! He is the chef in our house.
What I like about it is it can be adjusted for sweet (with honey, mango, pomegranate seeds & cucumbers) or savory (cucumbers and lentils).
Nectarine blossom and honey …basically a peach with shaved legs. Happy International Friendship Day. Over the past couple of years I have had very little to offer by way of perfume news or knowledge and yet I have been rewarded in countless ways by the friendships offered by way of this community.
You smell lovely! Looking forward to the new release JM Honeysuckle & Davana this fall.
Did you try the jasmine marigold intense? It sounds quite good too.
I bought it and am really enjoying it.
Hmmmm, maybe I will get some nectarines to nosh on this week. Might as well take advantage of them being fresh while I can. Frozen slices just aren’t the same.
made me giggle at peach with shaved legs!
ditto on your friendship sentiments. on days when I am housebound for whatever reason, NST is one of my favorite friendly links to the outside world. 😉
It is hot and sticky, and it’s time for PDN Eau d’Ete, thank goodness for lime + cinnamon.
You smell wonderful!
I tried that one on skin in the Nicolai store. Really liked it until 10 minutes later when it was completely gone. Even the SA was puzzled!
Having another go with Kilian Noir Aphrodisiaque. It’s lovely but quiet. I think it would need to be sprayed heavily.
Spray heavy and report back 😉
All I have is a small sample… will do the best I can. 🙂
More is more with this one!
I emptied the sample vial on myself… smells a lot better now, but projection is still quiet, compared to Back to Black. I like it though!
Hello, all. My SOTD is HdP 1969. LOTS of peach plus spice. It’s rather nice but somewhat too sweet and over-the-top for me.
Another good one! Sadly my bottle is in San Diego and I’m in Montréal.
You know I am a bit surprised that no one is wearing Chinatown or Gucci Rush today…I would if I had them….although the Marzipan’s bottle of Chinatown is hiding somewhere in this house…..
and I just read that Milky Musk is supposed to be a smoother toned down version of Rush…mmmm…..
I forgot about Chinatown, thanks for the reminder to dig it out! Haven’t worn that one in a coon’s age.
Me too–thanks.
Maybe we will be triplets!
If I can find the bottle I might join you
Thanks for the reminder about Gucci Rush. I have a sample I can give some love to for Friday.
😉
Chinatown is a cold-weather scent, which seems a long long time away at the moment.
I always associate Chinatown with spring…don’t know why….your idea makes more sense because of the incense note.
My Chinatown sample is gone, but Rush is my Friday pick. (Spoiler alert!lol)
Was thinking of you when I wrote Rush because I know you love it!
Yes, and I will be finally opening my back up bottle! Which makes me think… should I get a backup for this one?
I didn’t know that Chinatown had peach in it. Another contender.
ironically it is NOT listed on fragrantica as a peach fragrance but I know it is in there!
Hi perfumista friends,
Still just tentatively dipping my toe in here after a pretty long break. Very much enjoying all the comments.
So my Luckyscent order of The Musc from Essential Parfums arrived last night and I sprayed some on my arms right away. Notes are ginger, lavender, beeswax, sandalwood and musks (serenolide an nirvanolide I believe). I was a bit underwhelmed, I think it’s a case of you get what you pay for. The initial spritz reminded me a little of laundry soap but very pleasant laundry soap, after about an hour the blend seemed to hang together a bit like a kitten wearing Musk Tonkin and it was ok but I didn’t love it. This morning all the other notes were gone except a faint trace of musk. Bummer because the ingredients sounded very good. In any case I just got the 10 ml and will keep it in my bag for emergencies. The two stars of the LS order were the samples they sent: Chypre Mousse (OMG love love love love) and Jubilation 25 (really love it, it’s a lot like vintage Rochas Femme) The CM suits my personality and wears better on me than the Jub25. But I’m loving both very much.
Too bad about your The Musc experience. I too love both of those two samples you’ve mentioned–they’re great, though I’d give the edge to the Amouage one. Maybe some new FB’s in your future?
Thanks Calypso. They are both winners. I will keep testing them to see. Chypre Mousse is just so weird and wonderful. It’s actually turning kind of sweet on my skin in it’s herby loamy way. But I do love Jub25 too, especially when the ylang calms down a little and the spice starts developing.
I bought the small one of it when they introduced it during the Cities special month, I think it was about a year ago.
The Jubilation 25 is a bit of a skank fest on me, a bit like looking down and discovering a pair of double D’s in a bullet bra. There is no fruit except lemon, but I swear the stuff smells like spiced peaches through its development. Could be the lemon tarragon davana combo. In any case it’s a little too vavoom for my tastes, although totally gorgeous. Just as well because the price….
That is a very vivid description! I did get a chuckle out of the bullet bra reference.
That IS a funny description! It’s funny, people did wear it back when we had skank day, but it’s just never struck me that way at all. I simply find it beyond elegant, kind of like Chanel No. 5 or something. For the skanfest that gives me that va-va-voom feeling, I’d nominate Amoureuse, which I also love, but never feel I can quite live up to.
Hi Sajini, Welcome back!
Those 2 you mentioned are sitting in my cart wating to be sampled! Now I am really looking forward to It.
Hello, NST! Busy weekend for me… Saturday was a game day, where I spent about 10 hours playing tabletop games with some friends. Sunday was errands. Two days of sunshine was not enough!!
Oh, before I forget, Marjorie Rose gets an enabler’s pin for Endangered Species Milk Chocolate. I have been nibbling on a bar of it for the past few days. I do not get mocha, though. I taste a lovely caramel note in with the chocolate which I enjoy. Yummy!
SOTD = back to testing samples. Up today is La Femme Prada, which starts off as a nice solar floral. Unfortunately, it develops the dreaded “nail polish” or “vinyl shower curtain” note on me. So off to the “Give” pile it goes.
I really like the opening of La Femme, the dry down for me was ivory soaplike. I’m interested in trying the intense version though. I don’t understand why my weather stopped heading your way? Stupid jet stream! We’ve had bursts of rain, but mostly sunny.
It’s been cloudy & gloomy here all day. No sun to be seen at all. 10 day forecast is more of the same. ☁
Astounded that a candy bar lasted “a couple of days.” How does that happen? Is it some kind of magic? ????????♀️
I should have been a bit more clear… said candy bar is still around! I’ve been breaking off a couple of squares to nibble on each day. This chocolate is rich enough that those squares will effectively scratch the dolce itch.
Maybe it IS magic!
SotD = Bogue MEM, from a sample
I forget how much I enjoy MEM. It’s a revelation every time.
Fresh, ripe peaches smell like nothing else, so very beautiful. I will enjoy a long think over peach scents I might wear. Ylang and champaca sometimes remind me of peaches. J’adore smells of peaches to my nose, as does Angel when I get a whiff from far, far away. I wish I could smell an old bottle of Chopard Casmir, it had a fabulous peach note.
True confession: as a child I loved peach flavored Jell-O with canned mandarin orange segments.
Nothing wrong with Jell-O – I’m sure we all consumed lots of it as kids growing up in the 70s and 80s! Ambrosia salad, seafoam salad, so many salads! We still make Jell-O for our daughters once in a while and they love it – sometimes we put it in fun silicone mold shapes. And get more exotic/different flavors from the Mexican grocery stores: mango, horchata, grape, pistachio, and vanilla!
mmmm, horchata jello sounds seriously delicious!
I have Chopard Casmir still shrinkwrapped. I got it recently when lillyjo mentioned it.
Oh! When you crack the shrinkwrap please do let us know if Casmir still has a nice peach note. When it was a new scent it was so distinctive, it really stood out (and filled the air) at the department store perfume counter I often visited on my lunch hour. But that was more than 20 years ago.
I really should check a few stores to see if there’s a Casmir tester somewhere. Though the “large sample size” bottles for sale online are practically perfumath free, my mantra is no-new-bottles, no-new-bottles, no-new-bottles. 😉
My 2 cents is, has more of a peach skin smell than a peach pulp smell. It’s not juicy at all. Still wonderful though. The only thing I’ve noticed is it’s not as BIG as it was. It could just be me though.
Wait till fall to crack it open. I think the heat doesn’t do it justice. I’m so tickled to be an enabler ????
Very late today and not with the program. I had a craving for OJ Ta’if and went with it. Thank goodness Monday is almost over.
Reading from the bottom up… ????
LOL!!!!
????
You are not alone in your reading habits. ????
We’re not with the program twins!
SOTD = Sultan Pasha Attar Irisoir
Peach is not in the house today. I felt like wearing something opulent but close to skin and this fit the bill.
I wore NVC Rahele yesterday in honor of Portia Turbo (APJ) and Jin’s wedding. I underspritz and of course, it did not last long. It was nice while it lasted. I then decided to wear Hermes Myrrh Eglantine. Big mistake because it smelled like sour dill pickle with mint toothpaste. Methinks it is the layering with the remnants of Rahele that caused this yucky combo. I will have to try ME on it’s own although I was kinda traumatized that the re-test may be a long ways away.
In other news, I witnessed a disturbing scene during my morning commute. It’s not a woe by any means since I was not subjected to it other than a slight delay. A woman who looked to be in her 20s was being tended to by paramedics. I don’t know the circumstance of why she was on the ground but she was half-way sitting up in a pike position with her back supported by a paramedic. She looked quite out of it and was trying to sit up straighter or stand up. A policeman poked his head into my train car and asked if anyone spoke Language X. After a few beats of silence, a young guy reluctantly got up to offer his assistance. After about 20 seconds of talking (which I didn’t hear), it was clear that the wrong language was identified and the guy returned to the train car, got his seat back and the train went on its way. Two things came to mind: 1) paramedics should probably carry an o-ring of cards to flip through to ascertain what language someone speaks and/or with which to communicate various medical symptoms via pictures and 2) unless there are extenuating circumstances, immigrants should learn English even if cultural assimilation lags behind.
In other news, over the weekend, there was a stampede to get out of a subway and platform when someone yelled “gun”. After the incident was over, there were some footwear left behind. Moral of the story? When commuting, wear sensible shoes (read: no flip flops, open toed shoes) that fit well AND do not air out your stinky dogs.

Here’s something to look forward to on your commutes! Underarm advertising!
LOL, and I hope it comes with antiperspirant and a nice scent!
Funny yet gross! ????
Sounds like the young lady you saw on your commute had what medicos call “a sinkable episode”, aka fainting.
I was thinking that…I sure hope she’s OK.
Irisoir sounds pretty. Rahele + Myrrh Eglantine = A pretty pickle!
It is very pretty…not so the ME with remnants of Rahele.
Don’t mind me. I’m overtired and silly tonight. ????
hope you can stand to give Myrrh Eglantine another outing soon. It is a very pretty rose. Now that I think about it, I need to give it another try. The far dry down was kind of odd, maybe because I wore PHI and Vol de Nuit the day before.
I’ll give it another outing but need to make sure I don’t wear it on top of something else.
Wearing a few sprays of Mitsouko EDT with some BBW peach body butter tonight.
I got a bit too much sun yesterday when we visited my niece and her family so the butter is a welcome addition tonight.
We had a great visit. Her son just LOVED the fresh cherries we brought. He had juice all over his face and was running down his hands; he couldn’t stop eating them!
