Happy National Junk Food Day! We are celebrating with our regular open thread poll. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, your favorite junk food fragrance or your favorite junk food food, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

Fabulous!
First amber I ever fell in love with. Such a great scent.
Fantastic fragrance. I had it loooonggg time ago 🙂
Hm. Favorite junk food is probably fresh, hot french fries from Mickey D’s, closely followed by pizza. I would hope no fragrances are truly junk, but some of my favorite cheapies are The Body Shop White Musk and Boucheron Trouble (from when you could still get it at discounters–frequent bedtime comfort scent). Not sure what the SOTD will be yet. It’s going to be warm and muggy, so maybe BBW Wild Honeysuckle.
Oh, and donuts. They should fall somewhere between Krispy Kreme and Dunkin on the sweetness scale.
Nothing like Krispy Kreme donuts! My favorites!
Which one is sweeter?
I’m a big fan of Krispy Kreme 🙂 But it’s been a long time since I had a DD doughnut.
I loooooooooove doughnuts.
Oh, Krispy Kreme is by far sweeter. If you go in the shop when the doughnuts are coming hot off the line, you get to eat them warm and super fresh. It’s a force to be reckoned with, but it can be too much for some people and they are more greasy.
I love doughnuts, too. There is a place by my parent’s house that makes near-perfect doughnuts. It took all my resolve not to stop by every time I drove past when we were living with them.
Um…and why didn’t you stop every time?!?!?!?!
Wearing OJ Osmanthus and Frangipani this morning.
I bought the discovery set a while back and somehow got sidetracked and never fully tested them…the volume of perfume vs. time problem rears its ugly head yet again.
I liked both of those, and Sampaquita. Nearly bought Champaca (and still might do), but Woman was and is my favorite of the discovery set.
I wore Woman and Tolu yesterday. I enjoyed both…was hard to pick which is better. I just ordered the travel set with Tsarina and Vanille D’Iris which I haven’t tried yet.
Just received an email that several in the line are now available in 30ml bottle. ????
Good on OJ! Even better if they had 15ml 😉
UhOh… I have been wanting to purchase Woman.
Thanks Laura!
That reminded me that I could use some more osmanthus in my perfume life
ELdO Rossy de Palma. I’m still on a rose kick and this is turning out to be my favourite: it works in any season, in any weather — it just works. Probably going to have to buy a full bottle once my 10-mL mini is emptied, which won’t be that long now.
Hi! I have a barely used 50ml bottle if you’re interested.
That’s definitely my favourite Tough Rose – I am on my second bottle of it. In a milder rose today, namely Teo Cabanel Early Roses and it’s pleasant, if not fbw.
Wonderful rose perfume,My kinda “celebuscent”!!
Last month I met a nice American at a conference and she came along with me and a friend for a pub supper. She had her first poutine as a main dish and it was Too Much, since not only was it huge it included smoked meat. With luck it won’t be a bad memory.
Just about to hop in the shower and will think about perfume after that.
Yum, poutine! Love it.
Poutine!!! ????
Poutine is definitely something I want to experience….maybe a bucket list item.
It’s kind of a trendy menu item at gastro pubs these days, if you don’t make it to Canada 🙂
You really need to come to Montréal to experience it properly. 🙂 I recommend La Banquise, which is conveniently located 8 blocks from my house.
When I make it to Montreal when you’re there, I will let you know – Perfume and Poutine sound like a Perfect match!
I took a solo trip to Montreal and Quebec City about 4 years ago and ate ALL the poutine I could lol. ????
SOTD is VT again.
Favorite junk food is kettle corn. I tell myself it’s good for me because it has a lot of fiber to keep my colon happy! Ah, the lies we tell ourselves…!
Junk food perfume…I don’t think I have anything to fit that category…maybe Queen? Super cheap but truly satisfying.
And, nothing to do with perfume, but I met this guy in the park last week. I started chatting him up because he was driving a VW Westie, and van travelers are my people! We had a great convo. Same park a week later I ran into him again and another great convo ensued. We talked about Vans, traveling, military combat, life, regrets, family, dreams, ad infinitum. Super guy and such a lovely gentleman. T-Rex fell in love with him. Here’s a little link I found after I google stalked him because it’s good to know there are still wonderful people in the world.

Great article! Lucky you to run into him.
I know, right?! It was a privilege to shake his hand????
Kettle corn is my favorite popcorn, too. Lucky you to meet this vet. He is part of a vanishing breed. I used to have a lot of WWII vets for patients and now all my older guys were in Korea or Vietnam.
Yes indeed! Coined The Greatest Generation with good reason. He was kind enough to let me take a photo of him in front of his Westie. It’s on my IG if you’re interested. I rarely meet people and think “Geez, I would like to get to know him/her better!” He was one I would have loved to have spent more time with, for sure.
Does kettle corn really count as junk food?
My husband and I had a lot of date nights at the movies last year and I developed the habit of getting popcorn at the theater. The lowest calorie option at both theaters we frequented was upward of 600 calories. Insane. THAT is junk food. But when I air pop at home and add butter and salt it is not. 😉
Great article. Thanks for sharing. And you were right about the kombucha. I bought a huge bottle and it says on the label Do not consume if pregnant due to the alcohol
Wow, that’s an amazing story. I’m so glad he had a chance to go back to Hawaii and hold a memorial for his friends and comrades.
Cool story Deva!✌????
Thanks for sharing his story, Deva. How lucky you were to meet him!
In Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir today. I finished a sample I got from our dear Hajusuuri. This time I liked it much better than when I tried it previously. Perhaps needed to wait for a hot day to fully appreciate it? And in conclusion I think it’s a shame I cannot buy it in let’s say 10-15 ml spray to use during summer… Bummer 🙁
If you know someone going to Paris, they may be able to mule you the La Goutte Parfumee 20 mL travel spray!
I think the heat brings out the tea note more to the forefront.
I definitely get more tea today!
Thanks for the tip. Need. To. Investigate.
I AGREE! I waited months for a sample and a nice SA at Neimans finally got me one. I just finished it (in really hot DC weather) and wanted to love it. I am undecided but would go for a smaller size to test it longer as I found it nice but perhaps too fleeting? Or I need more spritzing! I think It may be difficult to re-sample but I would bite on 10-15 mls in a snap!
I have a weakness for junk food, even though I try to avoid them the most I can. I would say my favorites are cheeseburgers with lots of bacon and McDonald’s hash browns. Cheapie fragraces would be from B&B Works. I have always been fond of Cotton Blossom and Cherry Blossom. I would like to try their new Lovely Dreamer that seems to be a decent iris scent.
I am wearing Yardley Iris from the bottle I confiscated to my mother a while ago. It needs to be reapplied many times since it is very fleeting, but good enough to run many errands on this beautiful summer day.
Tomorrow is my mother’s birthday, so we are meeting tonight at my sister’s apartment for a small family gathering. Mom will be wearing her beloved Tabu. I have a craving for iris today, so I will take a break from the Use it Up project and probably wear Prada Infusion d’Iris.
Enjoy the weekend everyone!
Happy Birthday Mom!
Thanks from her, LizzieB! ????
enjoy your family gathering!
Thank you CM8!
Wanting to try Lovely Dreamer as well.
According to the reviews I have read is nice, but very fleeting. I wonder if layered with the same body lotion or body butter will make it last longer. I will give it a try probably next week when I have to run some errands near B&BW.
Ahh, perfumelover, my mom wore tabu. have a lovely birthday celebration.
Thank you Apsara! It has been my mother’s only perfume her whole life and she really enjoys it!
I can have a tiny spritz of Tabu once in a while during winter time.
Wishing your mom a great birthday! Enjoy the celebration ????????
Thank you Lillyjo! Looking forward to a nice time with family. ????
Happy Birthday to your Mom from me as well!!Enjoy the celebrations!!❤️❤️✌????
Thank you dear! I am showing her all the good wishes sent and she is thankful, smiling and very happy! ❤????????
Have a wonderful birthday celebration with your mom!
Thank you Cazaubon! We had a very nice time. ????
Hope your mom had a wonderful birthday!
She really enjoy it! ????
Happy Borthday to your mom!
Thank you Hajussuri!
Loaded poutine isn’t as good as the plain ol’. The best I’ve ever had was alongside one of the ice skating canals in Ottawa. I swear they used demi-glace rather than gravy. TDF, especially when was 10 degrees out.
I love a classic poutine myself, although I do like adding sauteed mushrooms.
This was supposed to go under AnnieA’s post, but I’m glad you found it. And THB, I’ll take any poutine, any time 😀
In Fo’ah but sampling #11 which is more aquatic and salty . The other sample I drained was more rose based
Baguette, cheese and found my favorite tomato at the farmers market, old german
Yum, I’m having lunch at your house!
Me too!
Junk foods, I would say donuts, potato chips, french fries, and cookies. The only junk food perfumes I have are pink Sugar and Chocolovers. 🙂
Today I put on about 20-30 spritzes of L’Artisan Verte Violette and it is barely detectible. I think I will add some Lush Kerbside Violet.
Pink Sugar for me too!!!
20-30 spritzes ????????
In violet as well. I haven’t tried the L’Artisan. What is your verdict other than it is hard to over apply? (I loved the lilacs in En Passant for years but refused to buy it because I have to apply so much, and it lasts a nano-second on me. My husband bought me a bottle finally, and I love it all 15+ sprays at a time!)
I like it, it’s fresh and violety, but I think it may be discontinued. My bottle is old. The other similar one I had was Fresh Index Violet Moss, which sadly turned before I used it up. :-(. Hence the spraying with wild abandon.
Hey Guys!
1) Favorite junk food includes a loaded Impossible Burger, with plenty of avocado and mushrooms, fried onion rings, and a big (vegan) milkshake topped with whipped coconut cream.
2) No perfume is junk, but there are plenty of really affordable. My faves are Boucheron, Vanilla Fields and Bath and Body Works Cucumber body spray.
3) Today, it is a beautiful mild morning, a spattering of cooling clouds. Am in Karma body cream, Uma Wellness Oil in Bliss and Lavilia deo in ‘Water’. Perfect for day of biking around the city and the farmers market.
vanilla Fields!!!! No one mentions that one anymore!!! Went through at least 3 bottles of it thirty some odd years ago…..if it were around today it could pass for niche 🙂
Oh, it’s marvelous, and it used to be in a body spray. When I did more work with homeless teens I would cases of it from the drugstore for care packages- and all those kids would smell perfectly wonderful after their showers.
That’s incredibly kind of you. I bet they loved it!!
A busy weekend already. I finished reading the Guide and made a couple of sample orders. I decided I had better use up some untested samples before getting more, as well as clearing off the top of the perfume cabinet. I put on some JARling, used up the tiny bit in the vial, and initially got a whiff of Double Bubble Bubblegum. Now it’s an almondy/lilac that smells like a bath product for kids (but I don’t like almond.) Today’s project is to make homemade HobNobs. I am kicking myself because when I was in London they were £1 a package, and I only bought one. So I found a recipe on a British cook site, and after buying the golden syrup it needs I am set to go.
Favorite junk food is a Wendy’s chocolate Frosty and a churro. I wish Wendy’s sold churros, then I wouldn’t have to make two stops. Favorite junk food fragrance is a tossup. It could be Oro, dirt cheap but good, or Lush Lust, which smells so trashy but in a nice way.
Oh I love Oro! My bottle came from the clearance shelf at TJMaxx about 10 years ago – the snake was broken off and it was kind of beaten up but it cost all of $6, money well spent.
After you bake the HobNobs, if you like the result, please share the recipe link, I have a tin of Lyle’s Golden Syrup I need to use up in the cupboard. 🙂
I could eat Lyle’s Golden Syrup out of the tin with a spoon. Better than honey, better than maple syrup! I’m trying to think how else to use it. The HobNob recipe is stupidly quick and easy–one bowl and if you weigh the ingredients and tare after each addition, almost nothing to wash afterward. Tip–Flour the bottom of whatever you use to flatten the dough balls, the dough is sticky.
https://topwithcinnamon.com/2015/08/diy-chocolate-hobnob-biscuits-cookies.html
I use it on pancakes and french toast. I imagine you could use it anything that calls for honey too. Thanks for the link!
What samples are you ordering? I ordered the Papillon set after reading the guide, but have to wait until I see my SIL in August (shipped to her UK address) to try it out.
I love Papillon! Rich, complex fragrances. Salome and Anubis are wonderful. I ordered a couple from Auphorie, and Satori, Charlatan, Le Cri de la Lumiere, White Gold, and White from Luckyscent.
Junk food…hmmm…I love just about everything but try not to over do it….right now I am thinking of pizza and chocolate covered marzipan…had a delicious pistachio and rose croissant at the farmers market and I suppose that counts as junk food.
I also love lots of junk food fragrances….I have worn many a cheapie in my lifetime…right now Pink Sugar comes to mind…I recently brought up the bottle along with three other Dames and placed them on the shelf in my bedroom….guess what folks? They’re gone! Guess I can cross off four more bottles for the USE IT UP campaign…
this morning I wore Greylocke…post shower following lawn mowing my homemade vanilla bean body oil.
Also, the Pacificas are highly affordable….as Ede mentioned, no perfume is junk so I will use “highly affordable” instead 😉
No way does a pistachio and rose croissant count as junk food! Just sayin’. 🙂
LOL ????. It was SO good
And now I am eating a toasted slice of artisanal sourdough bread with lemon and olives and rosemary with some freshly picked gooseberries and currants
The lemon olives and rosemary is within the bread. Out of this world… he also makes a dark chocolate and cherry loaf but the mini Marzipan talked me out of buying it
Oo la la that sounds good! I’m fond of a toasted dried-fruit and nut loaf smeared with goat cheese and drizzled with honey.
Yummy, that sounds delicious. I am interested in how you make your vanilla bean body oil too!
Kpaint I could easily eat a whole loaf of bread in one sitting.. smeared with goat cheese? Even better ????
Ringthing it’s super easy..any carrier oil (for this batch I used four ounces of sweet almond oil which is basically unscented) to which I add two vanilla beans sliced down the center. I let it marinate for several weeks or even several months ( depending on how strong you want it and if you don’t mind having the brown beans visibly floating in there) and shake it several times a week while it’s marinating. I am also experimenting with vodka as a base so that I can spray and have a mix going with citrus oils and immortelle absolute from Eden Botanicals
Ooh ooh, maybe you can reserve some of the vanilla infused vodka to make a vanilla lemon drop cocktail!
hajusuuri, you made me laugh because I was planning on using the vanilla vodka as perfume-LOL!
Speaking of Dame, have you tried Monsoon yet? I’m intrigued by the notes for it.
Yes. A while ago and it was odd but I liked it
Will add that I’ve tried it and strongly disliked it. Not to discourage you!
I agree … it’s a love/ like or hate it fragrance… best to try before buying
Hmm. Maybe I’ll pass. It’s the iris note in it that intrigues me, and it sounds like there are better irises out there waiting for me.
I agree with the try before you buy. Definitely different, I’m on the fence.
Another voice chiming in that you should try before you buy. I highly support buying from Dame because he’s wonderful, but I really couldn’t stand Monsoon. I got tires and burnt rubber, not iris. Yeesh.
You finished Pink Sugar already? Respect.
No!!! The middle marzipan stole it from me!!!!!
And the youngest stole the Dames. I knew this because Bergamot Jasmine and Labdanum came wafting out of his room. He also took hold of the Jo Malone’s.
Oh, LOL!
And you already know that she took my Aloha Tiara and Vanilla Abricot after smelling them on me ????????????
I might have to decant before she leaves and takes the bottles with her ????
I think the older mini marzipans should decant and leave you the bottles.
😉
Wow! You are reducing your collection pretty fast! ????????Keep enjoying Greylocke! ????
Yup ???? when it’s out in the open it is up for grabs
Do they finish the perfumes quick or take time to do it? Do they spray heavily like you?
The youngest and oldest spray heavy…and like me they can stick with the same scent for days at a time…the middle one has a lighter hand and she is like the rest of you folks…she likes variety…she also blends without even thinking about what she is combining…one time she took all of my vanilla based samples of various perfumes and decanted them into a bottle…surprisingly it smelled good but it could have been a disaster! I guess depending on the fragrance the stuff gets finished fast or slow….but they know nothing about reforms or d/c and I ain’t tellin’ ’em ’cause I just want them to enjoy without hoarding!!!!!
You keep amazing me at how you all wear perfume so freely and uncomplicated. Just LOVE IT! ❤
By them not knowing about d/c and reforms also saves me from having to buy them back up bottles(ya’ll know how that goes!!!) …simple and uncomplicated-LOL!
I was just at Aldi and saw the Jo Malone candles! $3.89 is really free! I didn’t get any as I don’t burn candles and the unburnt smell was barely there.
You saw a better deal…mine were 6.89 which is still free as far as I am concerned and they smell great. I won’t be using them though as they are a gift
All of mine have a cap and when you open it the smell is potent. That is odd that yours didn’t smell… wondering if that’s why they were on sale?
Possibly!
Well clearly you are winning the Amazing Use It Up Race!Haha!✌????
I am cheating though!!!!! I have three others helping me!!! and your avatar is fantastic…you cutie 🙂
Hahaha!*Blushing*!!Thanks CM8!❤️❤️✌????(I did say yesterday you were cheating….hahaha! All in good fun though.)
Hee hee…I know it is all in good fun…and at the end of the day everyone is smellin’ good chez Marzipan!
And I have you helping me! 🙂
LOL!!! Never thought of that but you are so right!!! YOU are actually in the lead for the USE IT UP project 😉 Goes to show how everyone is enjoying your lovelies!!! Thank you again 🙂
I came across a sale of Naomi Goodsir perfumes and couldn’t help but buying Or du Serail. I do not need 50 ml of it, so if anyone in the US is interested in a 10 ml split ($23, including S&H), I can do two.
For those who wants a bottle of this one or a couple of other perfumes (cuir or iris) from the brand, the site is theline.com. Perfumes are $75 but they charge $10 for shipping and + tax. Still 50% less than at luckyscent.
Nice score! Or fu Serail was a tobacco one, wasn’t it?
I’m in for one! Email thou your avatar?
Yes, please.
That was an incredible lemming! Bought three copies of The Story of O.L.T. for holiday gifts…. plus errr some soap and perfume. Trigger finger!
Great! You started the holidays shopping early 🙂
You haven’t? 😉 😉 😉
????
That is a screaming deal, congrats! I looove Or du Sérail, and all of the Naomi Goodsir line except Nuit de Bakélite.
Thanks! 🙂
Wow, great deals there! I would snap up Bois d’Asesce in a second if they had it.
UhOh….again! Great tip -Thanks Undina!
I’m currently on Day 2 of the (original, from the book) South Beach Diet, which is low-carb, low-fat, so I’m resolutely pretending that junk food does not exist. LA LA LA LALALALA I CAN’T HEAR YOUUUU
Good but trashy (good ‘n’ trashy?) scents: Mugler Alien. B&BW Dark Kiss.
Very good luck! How many days does it last? Or just until you’re where you want to be?
2 weeks on Phase 1 (extremely low carb), indefinitely on Phase 2 (adding back “good” carbs like fruit and whole grains very gradually).
And I’m a day late responding, so only 9 days of the hardest part left to go.
Love Dark Kiss body wash.
My daughter wears it, so every time I smell it, it’s like a little hug from her.
Aww, that is so sweet. 🙂
You can do it! learn to love cauliflower mashed potatoes!
Cauliflower mashed potatoes with cheese! First time I had them, I would have sworn they were regular mashed potatoes until I was told they weren’t.
My Costco sells humongo bags of frozen cauliflower “rice”
Yes! It’s great to have on hand for quick stir fries and soups. Costco also has organic peeled hard boiled eggs in 2 packs that last for weeks in the fridge, very convenient when cutting back on carbs.
You know, I don’t mind cauli-mash or cauli-rice. What I AM going to miss is mac-n-cheese or real baked potatoes. (Dinner included oven fries, which I was not all that tempted by, for everyone except me.)
And sooner or later I’m going to want pound cake with peaches and ice cream…
Question for the Safari expert and I ask here cause I could not find anything on your blog…what is the difference between the cologne, EDT , EDP and pure perfume? It came up on conversation on APJ.
and asking about vintage 🙂
Well, lessee… I am definitely not an expert on the history of it, but I don’t think they made Safari (for Women) in EdT. The original release was cologne spray and parfum, and if you can find cologne and the aldehydes in it haven’t gone off, you’ve really got a treasure because it’s every bit as rich as a modern EdP. (And if the aldehydes are wonky, give it ten minutes.) The parfum I confess I don’t really love — it’s a little too ambery-sweet for me in the base. I am not sure when RL stopped making the cologne and started with EdP; that may have been concurrent with the d/c and subsequent reissue, but I truly don’t know. I love the EdP anyway, even the more recent version.
I mean, I’ve not seen EdT, but since my love of Safari came late and via eBay, I may have just missed it altogether.
Thank you! I am going to share this with the person that was asking 🙂
My favorite junk food is tortilla chips – have a hard time stopping once I start. If I feel the need to temper them with something “healthy” I have them with Mr. G’s homemade guacamole and tell myself I’m eating vegetables. Which is true, but …. 🙂 I don’t generally go for foodie perfumes, but I have a few that fall into the Eminently Affordable category. One is the original Jennifer Aniston (beachy jasmine and salty skin), and I have a L’Occitane called Bigarade and Green Tea (or maybe the other way around) that’s fresh and light and very pleasant. SOTM is SMN Eva, a favorite for lovely weekend mornings. Wish I had Ede’s energy to bike to a farmers’ market, but I’m saving myself for yardwork later on. Happy weekend all!
Goodness, just realized I forgot chips and salsa as another fav. When my oldest started his job, fresh out of school, he confessed to regularly having chips and salsa for dinner.
Are there men who *don’t* make a regular practice of this?
Hee. No. No, there aren’t.
Well….Fritos and pita with spicy mayo is NOT JUNK FOOD.
😀
Craving for tortilla chips and guacamole now!!! I might get some avocados on my way back home, since I already have some tortilla chips!
I’m craving it too, but we’re out of both! Time to get Mr. G out of his chair and off to the store!
Chips and salsa, guac, or queso is my #1 junk food weakness!
I’m an unapologetic fan of most anything calorie- fat- and grease-laden, plus a big dessert eater, and don’t really try to limit my intake of anything. That said, I like real food, so a lot of what falls into the “junk food” category I don’t eat, and a lot of what I eat some would call junk and I would just call delicious.
That said, I’d never been to a 5 Guys and there’s one near us so I’ve eaten there twice since we moved. First time I had a burger and fries (thumbs-up) and milkshake (thumbs not up). Second time I had a hot dog but forgot that I could add whatever I wanted to it, and just got light mayo. *missed opportunity* We’ll be having pork & veal knockwurst with kraut tonight, which may be junk food in someone’s book but not mine.
I’ve been spending a good part of the last couple of hours watching my new robotic vacuum. Mesmerizing! LOL. Shoulda gotten one years ago. It’s extremely thorough, doesn’t get a sore back, and is willing to clean every day on demand. We have nothing in common.
In other news, after having been diagnosed by a doctor at Planned Parenthood with endometriosis last fall, and having gone through various and increasingly potent medical protocols, I went to my local PP for a depo shot yesterday (having cramps while sitting in the waiting room) and they wouldn’t give me one without clearing it with the head honcho first. BUT. I did this morning what I should have done in the first place, which was to find a physician who specializes in endo treatment at the Cleveland Clinic, so I’ll call for an appt Monday.
In other other news, I finally broke down and turned the central heat on today. It works well in summer; let’s hope for the same in winter.
I sprayed myself rather liberally with Reminiscence Tonka this morning. This afternoon I followed with a drenching of Habanita L’Esprit. I’ve worn Bois des Iles edt the past 2 nights, and ZOMG does it smell good in this climate. It’ll be fun to explore everything in my collection in a new environment. Thus far quite a few smell drastically different (and better!)
Can not believe you turned the heat on! You better buckle up girlfriend. ????????
I know! ⛄????
But my apartment has been so cold — 68-71 in the morning — and it’s supposed to be cool for the next couple of days so I just said eff it. I couldn’t take another day of ice cold feet and layers of sweaters.
“We have nothing in common.” BA HA HA HA!!
I hope you can find an effective treatment for your endometriosis. Thinking of you.
Thanks, Mals.
We have a 5 Guys here too, but if you have a Culver’s near- you must try it! So much better than 5 Guys imh(midwest)o. Butter burgers AND frozen custard!! Insiders tip: get the kids meal and you get a free coupon for custard.????
I can’t believe you turned the heat on either, lol, but I have to confess I’ve already started looking at cashmere sweaters in anticipation of fall.
Best of luck finding a new doc/specialist!
Now’s the best time for cashmere bargains! I got some steals on Vince sweaters at Saks Off 5th last summer. The Saks house brands of cashmere are really nice, too.
I did not know frozen custard was a Midwest thing! Yay! I’ve only had it in Kansas City. I will keep an eye out for Culvers.
In my defense, I have Reynaud’s, and my extremities go numb after prolonged exposure to temps under 76F or so. The only other way I’ve been able to raise the temp in this apartment is to open all the windows during the day. But it has to be well over 80 to get any heat transfer.
Oh the vacuum part of the story made me truly lol ???? the part about endometriosis, not so much. I had it in my 20s long ago but was misdiagnosed for years, first time I heard the word endometriosis was in the recovery room from a hysterectomy at 28. Things have changed but it’s still so misunderstood, I wish you all the best in finding good treatment.
Was your hysterectomy successful in eradicating it? I didn’t know the first thing about Endo until I was diagnosed at age 46. After 30 years of annuals and complaining of debilitating cramps to dozens of doctors. And having been on progestin-only birth control for pain management from age 16. No obvious signs there…
Not at all well-understood, though that seems to not be the case so much in the UK. They also seem to be doing a lot of critical research there.
I hope you’ve been able to manage your symptoms well and life an unfettered life. Feel free to reach out.
I ended up having a hysterectomy when I was 49 after several agonizing years.
treatments have changed and there are less aggressive ways for some women. I learned an important lesson after my surgery.
Find a good endocrinologist who will help manage hormone therapy.
I do wish I had a tummy tuck at the same time, but it was a few years later when they started combining them.
Good luck at the specialist! I hope they can treat you quickly and effectively.
Very jealous of your robot vacuum.
Thank you.
The robot vacuum is my new best friend. ???? I’ve been waiting very impatiently for him to recharge and finish the kitchen.
good luck Kpaint – I had it as well without knowing it for many years. Cost me an ovary and some earlier than planned menopause….. best of luck.
Old school today- Gucci 1.
Uhmmm, sorry Robin, but burgers and fries are not junk food. Gurl pleez. ???? Doritos are my first choice vice, followed closely by salt n vinegar potato chips.
Forgot chips and salsa!
Doritos are so good! They became a 6th food group during my college years.????
I agree, burgers and fries are dinner!
That photo is going to get the best of me… very soon.
Mmmm doritos AND salt and vinegar chips are some of my favs!
Good thing, because I love burgers and fries! I don’t really care about doritos or other snack foods, just ice cream.
I am not much of a fan of junk food or fast food (which given my generous zoftig (autocorrect keeps changing that to “softie” which sort of works too) proportions you might not guess) but I have a TERRIBLE weakness for ice cream, fancy Italian, home made, Ben & Jerry’s…. love it all! ????????????
I am still radiating violets this AM from perfume I applied post shower last night. I Miss Violet on my left wrist, and Violette Sacree on my right. This may turn into a violet weekend.
Speaking of ‘devil may care’ food, I got my husband one of those electric Philips pasta makers for his birthday last Wed. and he’s going a little nuts with it. ????????????
My latest cheap treat perfumewise is a full bottle of Mac’s Lady Danger I got for $20 on eBay including shipping, to arrive today or Monday. A sample of the perfume came with some soap I purchased recently, and I really liked the dry down. I told myself that if I could find a bottle for under $20, I’d get it. Subsequent to my purchase I looked up reviews… Haha! Okay, so resell value is nil! ????
My 14-yr-old son has discovered the wonder that is B&J Chocolate Brownie ice cream. I will have to hide it from now on if I want to be able to eat it.
Tuck it behind the vegetables in the freezer.????That’s what I do, lol.
Isn’t there an NSTer who puts ice cream in empty frozen vegetable bags? LOL
This sounds like a Deva move but I don’t think it’s her.
I think maybe that’s tiffanie…?????
what ice cream? nothing to see here, just lots of frozen broccoli.
That’s ninja level stealthy mom survival tactics. I approve. 😉
Love this!!! I used to “hide” food in the basement until the mini marzipans and Mr. CM8 found all of my hiding spots!!!
junk food – a whole bag of lays original potato chips eaten alone and getting rid of the evidence.
no junk food fragrance – get headaches too easily.
SOTD – Paris Venise.
And a swipe of Revlon abstract orange lippie – enabled by someone here a few weeks ago. Imagine that.
I’m all about getting rid of evidence and covering my traces…
And I hope you enjoy that lippie!
My go-to “junk” perfume (as in simple and cheap) used to be White Musk by Body Shop. I keep a bottle around for nostalgic purposes but don’t like wearing it anymore.
Does anyone know if Perfume Emporium is a legit online retailer? Eyeing a mini bottle of Kenzo Amour
I bought a bottle there without incident.
Great!
I have purchase from Perfume Emporium before and everything has been fine.
Thanks! Helpful
I don’t classify anything as ‘junk’ but rather as ‘garbage’. Anything dull and greasy with little taste that generates no joy would fall within that bracket.
Interdasting convo with an SA regarding Estée Lauder Estée perfume today. I’ve been lovingly spraying the tester at my local B**ts during the past few weeks. Then it dawned on me the tester is the discontinued ‘Super Spray’ in the old bottle, gone since 2013/2014 or so. If I were to make a purchase – which I was thisclose to – I’d get the current Estée formulaton in the square bottle. The SA happily told me ‘nothing has changed’ re formulaton against which I offered ‘rumours’ that it might not be the exact same juice in there. To which she replied nothing had changed. Which is as far as they can go obviously but DANG why have a tester of a discontinued formulation? Grr. They still have Private Collection and White Linen in the existing ‘old’ bottles/packaging which is a bit more reassuring.
Wearing Truth or Dare. It’s behaving despite the weather.
I had the same “nothing has changed” conversation over Cinnabar. They lie, it did change.
Yes. It looks suspicious when brands ‘repackage’ old scents – just look at what L’Oreal has done to Yves Saint Laurent 🙁
FWIW I’ve always found Estée Lauder a bit underrated in terms of their heritage and output. If you’ve Youth Dew, Cinnabar, Knowing, Estée, White Linen, Aliage and Private Collection in your portfolio you’ve done verry well. Plus they still maintain some of the oldies in their lineup without having butchered them *that* badly. Might go and stash Knowing, White Linen and PC before they’re ‘repackaged’.
I’d make the same argument for Yves Saint Laurent (now rebranded as YSL, btw. I guess people buying his stuff are too young to know who he was?)
Y, Opium, Kouros, M7, Paris, Champagne, Rive Gauche. Almost everything they put out while he was alive is a classic.
On a side note, Christian Dior was officially renamed Dior in 2002 or thereabouts.
I’m all for frequent bottle changes as it makes it easier to identify which bottle one wants.
Now I’m being a bit ignorant regarding testers. How much do they count toward totals?
If EL has, say, 500 retail outlets in the UK then at most they’ll put out 500 tester bottles for a given scent.
Not every outlet has a tester of every fragrance and not all outlets have all fragrances so the total number of tester bottles is going to be far less than 500. If the frag itself is a low seller then how much of the total EL sales do the +/-500 bottles reflect and does it even *matter* given the low actual cost of the product?
I think it’s probably more like misinformed , if one wants to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I suppose it’s on the likes of us to educate them. They probably have no idea that original formulas contained products that are now banned.
Oh I’m in no doubt as to which side their bread is buttered, and I’m not passing judgment on it. I wouldn’t complain about my employer’s decisions to a customer either. It just looks bad, and reflects poorly on the person.
My grief is more how they can have a 3-5 year old tester on the shelves that does not reflect the current product available. If you’ve a new ‘update’ then great by all means but put a tester of it for people to try. No matter how ‘misinformed’ the salespeople surely they can justify using a ‘fresh’ bottle to go with the new look?
Ya, that just strikes me as sloppy. Or cheap.
I think it’s more likely cheap. They aren’t moving tons of those older scents so they don’t want to put out a new tester.
In my experience, stores get testers semi randomly. Sometimes you will get 4 testers for one scent and zero for another. When a tester isn’t given, the store is supposed to mark out a bottle for testing. A lot of times they don’t because mark outs count against you. Most likely they are using the old tester so they don’t have to make one, or they figure they will wait until the old tester is empty.
My favorite junk foods would be of the sweet variety: cookies, ice cream, and I am partial to WF two-bite brownies.????In the non-sweet category pizza is the first thing that comes to mind. Preferably thin crust stone fired. Another summertime guilty pleasure is beer-battered deep fried cheese curds if I happen to make it to any county or state fairs.
I’m not sure if I have any junk food perfumes…????
Today’s SotM was Bois Blonds. That has faded and now I have sprayed some Kiehl’s original musk. I’m down to the last of the BB.
I made a quick run down to the farmers market this morning to get some corn on the cob. Man, was it busy. I got my corn and got out of there! Looking forward to dinner tonight.
Oh! I totally forgot I bought some corn last weekend! Thanks for the reminder. Perfect with knockwurst & kraut I’m planning.
The pans of WF brownies are freaking delicious. Even better are the frosted ones. Most frosted brownies I find too sweet, but they are not. I pre-slice and freeze them, then defrost for dessert.
Yum! Although….corn and kraut in the same meal? Just sayin’.
Lol! We can do it! One if our regular dinners is mujadara(rice, lentils and caramelized onions) and roasted cauliflower (half a head per person.) We ate that earlier this week ing with picked turnips and baba ganoush. Without incident! 😉
Our county fair is in my town and the biggest in the state, it opened yesterday and I keep wondering if it’s worth it to fight the traffic for lunch next week. They let you buy a ticket from the office and refund your money if you are there less than two hours over lunchtime – an elephant ear and looking at the 4H animals is pretty fun.
Ooh, which one? My husband and I have tossed the idea around of going to Columbus OH for our anniversary weekend since it coincides with the state fair.
It’s in Indiana, up by the Michigan state line, the Elkhart County 4H fair. It would be a long drive from Columbus 🙁 Happy anniversary! ????
Junk food. If I stopped eating them, I probably would lose 10-20 pounds. That said, because I can’t stop eating junk food (although I can moderate), I have to try some other means to lose weight (I would be happy with 5!). Has anyone tried Apple Cider Vinegar as a weight loss enabler? I just got Apple Cider Vinegar chews from GNC but have not yet opened the package. My junk food nemesis – pork rinds, salt & vinegar chips, white cheddar popcorn (rice cakes, etc.)
SOTD = lashings of Profumum Roma Acqua Viva
LuckyScent overachieved! I ordered Petits Papiers on Tuesday and got the package yesterday. It appears that unlike their cooler weather policy where packages are sent via Ground Shipping (to conform with postal regulations for flammable goods), summer orders get sent via Priority mail – no complaints from me! And, I got all the samples I requested, including Amouage Imitation Man and Woman (huge manufacturer’s samples). Has anyone tried these Amouages?
Please report back once you try those Amouages!
Don’t know if those chews work…I think you have to use the real apple cider vinegar mixed with water…a former co-worker lost a lot of weight on the apple cider vinegar diet.
Of course, the day after I ordered my Petits Papiers, they sent the email announcing Amouage Imitation, grrr. So I do not have a sample. Please do report on your thoughts.
I got my petits Papiers in one day too!
SOTD is Seville a l’aube. I can’t get enough of that opening. Currently lusting after a bottle of arquiste Nanban.. perfect for the fall and Barneys still has them in stock. Sold out everywhere else
I couldn’t agree more about the opening of Seville l’Aube. I’ve been wearing it some part of the day most of the summer. You smell great!
I’m too lazy to go out to buy takeaways so I guess toast and marmite is my weakness. But I do like falafel kebabs or a good curry with naan…yum. I’m too tired to think of a match…something with a cumin note? My teenage son has just entered the ‘party’ phase ( something I never went through as I was too introverted and parties are my idea of hell) and now he is wearing me down with a) me having to collect him at midnight and b) insistence that he should be allowed to drink ( beer) because his friends do etc etc. i think I have just taken my first steps into the long dark tunnel of teenage concerns/ responsibilty etc. I wish that teenagers just went through a mad gardening phase instead. Life would be perfect then.
Haha!Mad gardening phase…parents should be that lucky!Lol
If teenagers would only become passionately interested in quilting or scrapbooking… I’d have fewer tense situations to mediate because of stupid stuff someone said about another person on Snapchat. (#teacherwoes)
If teenagers went through ANY kind of useful phase at all I might have had kids. Observing my three brothers throughout their teen tears put me off children entirely.
To be fair they can reach objects at the back of high cupboards
Oh, good point. Toss-up which is more dangerous, though – a stepladder or a typical teenager. 😉
I have a husband for that. Fortunately he came with a vasectomy. 😉 Bon courage for the teen trials!
I just use the TaskRabbit app for such things…
Ditto this!
I guess I am odd man out because the three teenagers in my life are incredibly useful, caring and have taught me much about myself and the world…I could not imagine my life without them and am grateful to have them in my life 🙂 ….and they are my yoga partners !!! Being a parent to three wonderful teens has been a blessing for me at least.
Count yourself blessed! 🙂
I think it’s awesome that your teenage is arguing to be allowed to drink beer instead of simply drinking it. That shows on his part that your approval matters, no?
I guess so. I am lucky that I can trust him. We are working out a kind of ‘contract’ that suits us both…how many drinks, what type , where…
I was that crazy kid/teenager that scared me off having kids entirely.
All my mom had to say was “Some day when you grow up, I hope you have one just like you” and that’s all it took. Nope. No kids. 🙂
I love the mad gardening phase!
I have always been a sweet eater. Every year I try a 21 day sugar detox which works for a time, and then it all falls apart again when some kind of super stressful event occurs. Not terribly discriminating on what type of sweet but I can’t eat ice cream anymore, which is sad.
Today I’m trying AG Bois d’Hadrien. With substantial spraying, it’s lasting longer than I expected given the low projection. A bit of lime at the top and then right down to business with woods and some spices. Not super interesting, sadly, but would be work appropriate for me.
My sister did that sugar detox…not sure I could do it!
Oh dear. I’ve indulged in junk food this week and actually discussed it with my sisters. We agree the incredibly greasy tacos (2 for $1.29) at Jack in the Box are truly delicious. So much so I had to share one of mine with my usually vegetarian sister.
Wearing Arielle Shoshanna today as I hang with a friend. There might be a trip to an ice cream parlor involved…
I have not had a taco from Jack in the Box in years! Used to love those.
Wearing Habanita on the first rainy day in weeks. Both the perfume and the weather are a refreshing change of pace.
My most favorite junk food is Cheezit snack crackers, original or extra toasty. I very rarely allow myself to have them but they are so good.
Pizza is just dinner rather than junk food in my opinion – my favorite pizza is from a local artisan (hate that word!) pizza place, it has spinach and arugula on it, for Pete’s sake 🙂
Ohhh, Cheezits! Haven’t had those in ages, and they’re so good!
We’ve discovered a great “artisanal” pizza place nearby. Wood-fired, thin crust, delicious. And one of the best caesars I’ve ever had, made with a lettuce called Ohio Crisp. Oh, and house-made pistachio or vanilla soft serve that is swoon-worthy.
So, yes. Pizza is dinner! (Often!)
Not a huge fan of junk/fast food, but I do indulge every now and then at Burger King or Nando’s(their chicken livers are comfort food,NOT JUNK)
SOTD!Moving on to “new” discoveries in my collection, wearing Jo Malone 154 Cologne. It was trashed in the original Guide, but I find it soft and pretty.Long lasting as well.Considering my layering options with other JM’s.Suggestions?
Cold weekend again. After going out last night, today I had tea with an old friend, and just chilled. On standby for emergencies this weekend.Luckily nothing so far.
Happy Weekend!
X
Love your avatar! Are still on the Use it Up project or are you done for now?
Thank you M!❤️❤️
No I am still on the Use It Up,also,I just needed to wear something fresh and “new” today!Happy Weekend!❤️❤️
I am curious if my letter reached to you still scented. I sprayed some of the perfume on paper the other day and few days later it was gone! ????
Happy weekend to you too! ❤
I have not received any letters so far,so I’m curious as well! Will let you know when I do!
Oh no, I mailed my letter many weeks ago too, I hope it finally does arrive some day!
Oh my! I hope they have not gotten lost and reached you eventually!
Me too,M!Really looking forward to receiving them from you guys,as a closer connection between us,but also as part of THE PERFUMED APARTMENT!Hehe!❤️✌????
ditto on the avatar!!! Love it !!!!
OOO I recently tested 154 and loved it thinking it would be great for my son…layering…hmmm…do you have Amber and Lavender by JM? I think that might go nice…or maybe Myhrr and Tonka (yeah I know I am misspelling it)
Thank you!I have the Amber and Lavender in a 5 piece discovery Christmas set, yes! Will definitely give it a try!
and then report back if the combining worked!!!!
The Jo Malone website recommends combining 154 with Amber and Lavender for a warmer scent and Lime Basil and Mandarin for a fresher scent…I am also wondering if it might work with Wood Sage and Sea Salt too.
Yay! That cute face is back????
Oh good heavens, our junk food for the morning was a big basket of dim sum 🙂 It was dimlicious.
I have been promised dumplings for dinner tomorrow too, as a reward for having to work both Saturday and Sunday.
I’m comforted not only by the fat and starch festering in my belly but also by the ginger grapefruit scrub I used this morning, along with the 10 Corso Como body oil that has covered me with a soft sandalwood scent.
Goodness I bet you smell great.
I just discovered Trader Joe’s Pork Shumai Pord Dumplings – 9 in a box and can be steamed or microwaved.
My favorite junk food is anything salty. Seriously, anything. You could salt an old sports bra and offer it to me and I would probably try a few bites.
My favorite cheapie is Warm Vanilla Sugar from Bath and Body Works. There are two reasons: my good friend Beata used to wear it in college and it always makes me think of her. Also, my cat once had a health crisis and had to stay at the vet’s for a few days. When she came home, she smelled of WVS becuase the sweet vet tech who kept holding her to comfort her had been wearing it. I only spray it in the air, because my skin amplifies sweet notes and it smells hideously saccharine on me.
Oh, my two scents today are both from Phlur – Olmstead and Vaux for a very early flight, and Hanami now that I am home.
We are house twins as I am in Greylocke…and you also just reminded me that I really like Bath and Body Works Brown Sugar & Fig. I was obsessed with the body wash last summer.
ha! I used to go for sugar full-time, but I’ve switched to team salty in recent years. I have a few salted almonds when the craving hits.
Yes! Team salty!
SotD = Insolence edt
Smells like raspberry gummies, violet candies, and a hint of bubble gum, with longevity that makes it the Everlasting Gobstopper of my perfume closet.
Yes to junk food! I have a hard time saying no to anything from the bakery, so I stay out of the bakery. Cake is for birthdays, cookies are ok once in a while. I eat a little dark chocolate every day as part of my “healthy” diet.
Current indulgences
most often – olive oil popcorn
new obsession – Popcorners chips, so yummy
favorite sweets – Cadbury candy bars from the UK, also Nestle Lion bars
fast food – grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, pickles, mustard
The last one comes with a side of guilt. Years ago I stopped eating meat regularly because my now-absent gall bladder objected. But lately I am stressed out regularly, my teenagers clamor for fast food, and I can’t resist. Sorry, lovely chickens!
Insolence smells like violet hairspray to me on opening – then I get the raspberry violet candy in the drydown. I love it. 🙂
Yay! Insolence is an under-rated perfume gem.
Agree about the whiff of hairspray, I adore that note, it reminds me of my mum. She used lots of hairspray when I was a child.
I bought the EdT because of that hairspray / nail polish remover opening. And you are right, it has unbelievable staying power.
I started out the day in Chanel No 5 body creme; I had to go to the mall to do some clothes shopping to for an upcoming wedding; luckily it wasn’t to painful and I lucked out early.
I stopped by my local Chanel counter to sample No 5 EDT and 5 l’eau. I barely had the spray in my hand before the rep came running over. I mentioned that I wanted to sample the 2 to compare. Then I walked away. I didn’t want a repeat of the last time when the rep didn’t answer my questions, was not very helpful and said some unprofessional things. Can they not leave you alone for a minute?
My salty junk food snack of choice is Cheetos; my hubby likes Hawkins Cheezies so we don’t overlap on these. My sweet junk food fave is Twizzlers or SuperNibs. One of my favorite fragrance cheapies is Loves Fresh Lemon spray combined with Jean Nate dusting powder after a shower.
Loves Fresh Lemon!!!! Do they still make it? I used to wear both Jean Nate splash and Jean Nate cologne in the 70s…LFL was in the rotation too along with Love’s Baby Soft, Love’s Wind Scent and Love’s Rain Scent.
Yes, LFL can be found at Walmart. I was thrilled when I saw it there! I had Baby Soft before, but never heard of the other 2. If you find a time machine, let me know! We can go back in time and sample all the good ones..
I’m usually invisible in department stores. It’s a blessing and a curse.
Believe me, I usually am as well. It seems like it’s just the Chanel counter, I’m not sure why they come running over.
So what I do if an SA comes running over and I don’t want them hovering is say “thank you. I will let you know when I need help.” it has worked for me. If ever the hovering continues, my next comment would be “if you don’t have anything better to do, call your manager”.
That’s great!! Thank you.
I’m in the middle of a vanilla bean Jelly Belly jag, which really needs to end. They are hideously expensive, out of the bins in the grocery store, and of course, the price is not marked.
Also a fan of the birthday cake Fiber One bars. Those are at least somewhat beneficial, right?
Town House pita crackers with sea salt are wonderful, alone or with hummus. I can eat them like potato chips.
Junk food fragrance….hmmm….Prada Candy I guess? I also like Fresh Brown Sugar. Just picked up the new Philosophy Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere, and it is wonderful. I smell like a snickerdoodle when I wear it. It’s not at all complicated or sophisticated, but I know I will drain the bottle and enjoy every drop. ????
SOTM = Atelier Pomelo Paradis sample….clunk
SOTA/E = Kelly & Jones Notes of Rose sample…will pass this on ????
Yay for clunk 🙂
Yes, indeed!
Snickerdoodle! I have to try it then!
I can send you some if you’d like!
Cheese grits, people! They are to die for. Pretty much literally (you can hear your arteries slamming shut while you eat), but so worth it. ????
Junk food fragrance? I’ll have to go with Angel which always reminds me of a carnival (and now I’m thinking about cotton candy and greasy onion burgers, corn dogs and funnel cakes, and if you’re lucky enough to be at the Puyallup fair in September, those wonderful raspberry scones).
Umm now I may go to the Puyallup fair to try those scones.
Years ago my grandmother (my mom’s mother) was trying to pronounce Puyallup and it came out “pooh-ya-LOOP”. My mom and I still say it that way and get the giggles.
SheriG, watching newcomers try to pronounce Puyallup is always amusing. 🙂 Love your grandmother’s pronunciation!
There are so many challenging names to pronounce in Washington! I’ve been here 5 years and still get a lot wrong.
therabbitsflower, one that my hubby took forever to get straight is Sequim. He thought it should be pronounced similarly to sequin. Gave me a mental image of Liberace. 🙂
Get ’em while they’re hot, therabbitsflower!
I had a fun day with my cousin yesterday. We met for breakfast and ate quiche. Afterwards, we went antique shopping. I found a few pieces of jewelry and a old sealed container of Emeruade dusting powder still in it’s original box.. I bought it because my mother used to have a bottle of the perfume on her dresser when I was young. I can smell it even though it is sealed and it’s lovely.
My favorite junk food are Lindt dark chocolate/orange bars, and lately I’ve been snaking on graham crackers dipped in chocolate hummus.
….Snacking
And SOTD was Ouarzazate from a sample. I just bought a bottle in the Twisted Lily sale. Can’t wait to get it so I can spray with abandon because this is one perfume that needs a heavy hand. Next on my list, at least today, is Satori.
Sounds like a fun day! Congrats on finding the Emeraude powder.
????
Congratulations on finding that powder!
Your junk food sounds like health food to me.. doesn’t dark chocolate have necessary antioxidants and magnesium? Plus the additional Vitamin C from the orange. Nothing bad there.
I eat plenty of the unhealthy variety as well. The cafe where we ate breakfast also makes their own ice cream. Guess what we had for a late lunch as we were heading home?
Emeraude dusting powder is wonderful!
It is gorgeous! The box is emerald green with a texturized pattern. It looks like green and gold brocade wallpaper and has a gold foil ribbon around the center of the box. The powder container is made out of really thin white cardboard with gold scroll designs around the outside. It has pale green puff inside that says Coty on the back of it. I saw other similar containers online but the outer box is completely different. Set me back $5. ????
Greylocke preshower running errands. Homemade vanilla body oil paired with organic coconut oil as an all over moisturizer post shower for my yoga class.
and drops of sandalwood oil post class…I smell like “wood pudding” Robin would approve 🙂
Yep!
Finally a cooler day… wearing Naomi Goodsir Cuir Velours.
You smell great!
No scent yet but will either try Myrre Eglantine or Andy Tauer’s Les Annees 25 in a little bit – after ordering the sample set for a friend, I went ahead an ordered a mini of PHI for my daughter’s birthday and also ordered the Tauer mag with the fragrance sample. Andy included 4 additional samples so I got a 2nd little tin, this one with the Gardenia, Tuberose, Orange Star and Lonesome Rider along with the les annees 25. So generous!
Re. Junk Food fragrance – Orange Star could be a contender for sure, it has a candy / cleaner vibe to me.
I love all food, but a lot of food doesn’t love me, so most junk food has lost its allure. But reading about the Poutine and cheese curds makes me a little hungry!
I love poutine and cheese curds!
My boss brought Krispy Kreme today. I’ve eaten 3 donuts! I am so stuffed. My sotd is Prada Candy Kiss. A no brainer, smells good scent. Goes well with the no brainer, tastes good donuts.
Oh, I have such a weakness for those! I’m so glad there are no stores near me.
Grown *ss woman, helpless in the presence of a warm donut ????
Warm Krispy Kreme’s are the bomb! Light as air but packed with fat and calories! They are the definition of junk food! ????
Had a yummy breakfast of scrambled eggs wth ham, cheddar and red bell peppers. Tea was Melbourne Breakfast, a nice black tea with vanilla flavoring.
SOTD = Arquiste Aleksandr, lots of smoky leather and some citrus. If the balance was more to the citrus side, I’d like it better. At any rate, the 5ml sample from the set is pau (finished). ????
Good job finishing up those sample!
Junk food, how I love thee! Unfortunately I’ve had to cut waaaay back on thee, because thou aren’t healthy. But I’ll always make room for occasional treats! Faves: M&Ms, BBQ chips, Mountain Dew soda…..
Anyhoo, it’s been 60 degrees in the pharmacy all weekend, so I’m VERY ready to get outta here in a couple of hours. Been wearing a winter coat today and I’m finally warm. I’m also wearing Carolina Herrera Good Girl, because it’s warm and cozy. Yesterday I wore Nest Indigo just to remind myself of what is smells like. So many fragrances, so little time to wear them regularly! 🙂
Just checking in for the first time this weekend! Horrible headache yesterday, so no scent. Thankfully it was gone when I woke up this AM. Detailed my car and mowed my little patch of grass this morning. About to go swim with friends and cookout. My sunscreen is unscented so I think I’ll spritz some Fire Island for effect lol.
Oh how I love junk food. Alas, it’s not healthy so I try and abstain. I do love Sour Patch Kids and any fruity candy. I also love anything with carbs and cheese….cheese fries, chips and queso etc. I could make a meal out of chips, salsa and queso!
Glad your headache is gone. Have a fun day!
I received a sample of Lilice by J. Lesquendieu with a recent Twisted Lily order and tried it out today – it’s a pleasant lemony iris but not exciting to me. I looked it up on the TL site in order to see if I was right about the notes and – yikes – it’s $510 for 75ml!
I love pretty much all junk food, sadly. My saving grace is that I also love pretty much all healthy food too – the only thing I won’t eat is sushi.
I’m with you, I love all food but seafood.
Yikes! That price is crazy.
Stopping by late. Junk food! Ruffles potato chips, Hot & Spicy Cheezits, pretty much anything salty and crunchy. Mmmm.
I’m heading to Texas for work this week, and was just about to go to the airport when I checked the flight status… delayed FOUR HOURS!! Gonna get there around midnight. Won’t Monday be fun, jetlagged and short on sleep. And hot: forecast is for 108 degrees. That’s just crazy hot, people. Crazy.
SOTD is what’s left of the L’Occitane Verbena lotion I’ve been trying to use up. Using up perfume is hopeless, but shower gels and lotions I can make a dent in. Finished up a bottle of Yes To Shower Cocktail (lemon ginger scent) this week, and have started on Philosophy Senorita Margarita shower gel. Sorta on-theme for last week (better late than never).
I hope you can sleep on the plane. Your job may keep you in perfume, but it sounds demanding. ????
Texas in the summer is like hell. Stay cool…
Do try and stay cool and you do have my sympathies on the travel woes. Those hot and spicy cheezits are my
son’s absolute favorite!
Happy Sunday! Again in gallons of VT. I just can’t seem to kill this travel size bottle. It’s some kind of magic….
Slept like a baby last night on some forest road near Lake Tahoe last night, then went for a hike today on an “easy” trail in the Desolation Wilderness area and just about died. I must have been on the wrong trail because it was straight precipitous loosely packed rock trails and steep granite slabs at angles that made my ankles ache. I’m now sporting a beautiful blister on my right heel. Very smokey here today, but when I asked a ranger at the trailhead, he said it was just blow over… Then I explained I didn’t have cash for day use but I had an “America the Beautiful” annual pass, which he was unfamiliar with. I thought thas was kind of odd…then he stated he got stuck with “parking lot duty,” which he never did because he’s a “wilderness ranger.” I asked him why he got stuck in the parking lot today and he said, verbatim “Something very bad happened here yesterday, so now we have to man it.” ???? I was afraid to ask additional questions.
I hate when you have to decode something that may be to your benefit.
Ha! When I was describing my annual pass (which he knew nothing about) he asked me if it was a senior pass! I should’ve given a kick in pants for that remark! Lol????
That remark is actually worse than the first one. Lol, go back and kick him!
Yikes! That sounds ominous, Deva.
I know! I may decide to ask around about it…
Oh man, it would make me nuts if someone said something like that to me and didn’t elaborate. I actually just spent some time Googling things like “Lake Tahoe police blotter” (just to make it clear how nuts stuff like this makes me, I guess) and didn’t turn up much – will update if I do.
Oh boy, not sure I want to know…
Who makes a statement like that, without elaborating? It’s like he came out of a scary movie. As always Deva, stay safe!
I think he might have been hoping I was more curious. But nope! All I was interested in was the possibility of fire.
Yikes, that’s scary and the ranger sounds kinda creepy.
My hubby laughs at me, but that’s why I do not hike nor camp.
Nope. Zip. Nada.
He tried to get me to go for our honeymoon and I asked him if he actually knew the woman he married. 🙂
He was kind of odd…????
Be careful, Deva!
SOTD = Les a infusions de Prada Mandarine
Perfect for the summer – Orange citrusy and has an irisy base (actually oppoponax which is a smell-alike substitute for Iris, according to my nose).
Target run today:
– enabler pins go to Robin for the Daily Lemming post and to tiffanie for her mention of buying Harry’s shower gel (it was slightly cheaper for me at $6.99) per and since it is practically free, I got all 3 scents (there was only one bottle of Stone” left so thinking it must be popular so I got that too even though I was thinking of just getting Shiso and Fig)
– my hair dryer finally conked out so I was forced to buy one. There was a Harry Josh Pro Dryer for $249.99 (!!!) which was actually quite heavy…thanks but no thanks. I was previously eyeing the InStyler Blu Ionic for $99.99 but refuse to pay full price knowing that a good coupon may be available at some point in the next few months. Since I don’t have special needs hair nor do I sstyle my hair (it is ruler straight), I decided that a lighter cheapie would do and I ended up with a Revlon 1875 Watt dryer for under $14. I will probably still get the InStyler once I see a deal.
For $250, you might as well go further and do the Dyson dryer… not sure how heavy those are. I have to go cheap because I don’t want ionic. I don’t need anything to make my hair smoother.
A Target run sounds fun. I plan to go to Costco with my sister….it’s been years…
I had an ionic revlon dryer for years. It just died last month. I also have straight hair but mine is fine as well. I really like the ionic models because it cuts down on frizzy ends.
I am polishing my pin, and planning a trip to Target!
I’m testing Olfactive Studio Autoportrait today and think it might be true love.
Olfactive Studio is a great house. I’m curious about Chamber Noir. I wonder if it’s another riff of Shalimar.
I don’t think it is – Chambre Noir doesn’t have any kind of citrus note, iirc. It’s very dark and a bit dusty, and I think I recall a deep iris note, but I could be misremembering at this point.
I’ll give it a sniff if I stumble across it. It’s nice to put idle curiosity to rest. Thanks Sheri!
Not iris – leather and violet. And prune. Whoever thought of adding a prune note??
Junk food, picking a favorite is like picking a single perfume…impossible. Pie or burgers? Ice cream or pizza?
This poll had me digging out Prada Candy which is actually the only candy-sweet perfume I like.
Much better than my accidental layering disaster of last night. I had put on Shangri La for my SOTN but put on my nightgown that had gotten Jardin en Med on it and this was not a good thing. At all.
I hate it when that happens!
SOTWeekend is anything that is in my purse, I keep a sample vial of Lovely and Covet both by SJP.
The fast and easy answer to what’s my favorite junk food? All of it, ice cream, chips, pizza, burgers, donuts, ding dongs, Ho-Hos, Fruity Pebbles (the entire box, until the roof of my mouth gets raw from refilling it).
We can’t keep it in the house for that very reason. I can’t say no. 🙂
Ha!!! I do love a good bowl of fruity pebbles. I’m also quite fond of the fruity pebble donut a loca donut shop makes! ????
