Donna Karan Cashmere Mist Essence ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 4 July 2018 8 Comments

Donna Karan has launched Cashmere Mist Essence, a new oriental amber flanker to 1994's Cashmere Mist fragrance for women.

Cashmere Mist Essence, an era of luxury and indulgence. Building on everything you love about iconic Cashmere Mist, Cashmere Mist Essence is enriched with premium florals wrapped in deep wood and amber notes for a lusher, unforgettable experience.

The most intense fragrance within the Cashmere Mist Collection. Rich notes of amber and Moroccan jasmine combine with the warmth of sandalwood to create the richest embrace of all.

Donna Karan Cashmere Mist Essence is available now at Dillards, in 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Update: Nordstrom also has a 50 ml size, and a purse spray that looks like about 10 ml.

Oooh, I am interested in this. To me Cashmere Mist is pretty but utterly non-descript. Adorable hubby loves it, but I don’t wear it very often because I find it so insipid.

Hopefully this version will give it some heft and definition, so I can enjoy wearing it, but will not put AH off – one of his most damning comments about a scent is , “What is that? It’s so strong…”
I then say, ‘But it will quiet down – does it smell good to you?”
To which he will reply, “It smells Strong…”.

We have this conversation every time I wear Chanel No 5 or Bois d’Iris, for example. Other scents which seem far “stronger ” to me, like Mitsouko, Durga, and LDDM, he admires when I wear them (“you smell good”) or doesn’t even notice… I guess I should keep a list of his comments to see if there is an ingredient that he responds to with the “strong” comment.

Amber Aurea was another one that he perceived as too much to pleasant. I got a nice decant of that from a generous NSTer, and the first time I wore it, AH said after a while, “What is that? It just wears on and on, doesn’t it?”

So anyway, I am hopeful about this one…

He has a discerning nose, but no information about perfume, so he is free to express his immediate reactions unfiltered by expectations of any sort. He’s a diamond in the rough… :-)

He had that reaction to some of the SSS perfume samples I had, as well.
