Monday, somewhat mitigated by National Strawberries and Cream Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Ormonde Jayne Isfarkand, which was originally called Isfahan, for the city in Iran.
Reminder: on 5/25 we're doing Oh the Places You’ll Go...wear a perfume with a place name. Suggested by Elisa.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try (but frequently won't succeed! I'm way behind at the moment!) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance .

Happy Monday everyone!
Wearing Alaia Paris. Very nice for a very busy, but beautiful spring day. Be well all!
Enjoy your busy day
Trying….
Happy Monday pl67!
????
It is beautiful out, today. Glad to see the forecast since yesterday was wrong about all the rain we were expecting.
This is a day where I would love to be working outside, but I am not. Looks like my luck is to be out when it is either too cold or too hot ????????.
Hope you were able to get out for a little bit today, at least.
A great scent to match some great weather! Enjoy!
????
Encens Mythique
Heavenly Bodies exhibit at the Met is a must see
You are loyal to Encens Mythique!
Probably this summer I will go back to being loyal to Songes..
I thought of you yesterday when I spotted Matcha Joe Joe’s at Trader Joe’s. Have you seen, or tried them?
no! oh my goodness! I must try..
What is the price for this?
Hmm…I don’t remember, maybe 2.99? I feel like everything at TJ’s is pretty cheap.
truth!!!
..I will check it out the next time I am there..
It looks like EM is your new Alahine. When you love a perfume you really love it…
Thanks for the reminder..I will pull out my Alahine tomorrow…
I am coveting my bottle since I heard that it has been reformulated.
I have not seen you wearing Songs much this year either. I remember that is another one you love a lot.
My comment above on songes ????
I love EM too, but it’s a winter scent for me.
Was the Christian Lacroix Jeweled Cross sweater gorgeous in-person?
I adore that sweater.
yes..
I wanted the Versace leather jacket with the crosses..
Good that it’s National Strawberries and Cream Day because I just ate a strawberry smoothie which was delicious!
Now, on to the SOTD, it’s Atelier Cologne Blanche Immortelle; I just finished my sample and won’t be needing a bottle.
money saved!
Yay for strawberries! Funny – today I ate my first strawberries in this season (but without cream).
SOTD is Penhaligon’s Castile for the community project (and because I love this pretty soapy scent).
Yay for fresh strawberries! There is nothing like them, ours won’t be ready for a few weeks yet.
Jealous of your berries
I made strawberry jam today!
Yum! Strawberry jam is delicious.
Forgot about Castile!
For a treat, try sliced strawberries with reduced balsamic vinegar over vanilla ice cream. It’s simple, but tastes amazing.
I love balsamic vinegar anything! Sounds delish!????
Seconding this! Delish!
Alas, balsamic vinegar is something I have yet to learn to enjoy (if it is possible at all for me).
My favorite pairing with fresh strawberries is sparkling wine (typically semi-sweet or off-dry white Lambrusco).
Wearing Bond No. 9 New Haarlem. Got this one as part of a trade. I love my coffee in the morn, and this is pure java in a bottle with no sweetness, just as I like it. Not really a spring scent, but I’m in my AC.
I love NH, it’s my favorite coffee scent. You smell great!
Today nothing would do but Balenciaga Le Dix, so that’s my SOTD.
And it is, in fact, named for a place!
SotD is LADDM for the CP and because it is 50 and rainy here today.????
I spent a couple hours yesterday swapping out my closet, packing sweaters away and making piles for goodwill and the resale shop. I have been perusing blogs about capsule wardrobes and I’m gonna give it a try. I have a ridiculous amount of clothes that I never wear, and living in a house that was built in the 1930’s does not allow for a lot of closet space. I find myself reaching for the same comfy T-shirts, skinny jeans and Birkenstocks day after day. Having a job where I don’t have to think about what I’m going to wear (scrubs!) is definitely a bonus here.
I’m off to the resale shop, smelling good!
Talked my Sis into huge clear-out & she found 14 prs. of jeans! She feels so much better.
Is 14 a lot?? (runs away)
Thank you. I laughed out loud at this, but I would have to say: yes.????
Then I am done discussing jeans with you 😉
That’s a lot! I have a handful, but if really forced, could pair it down to my two favorites: one dark denim and one black.
pare????
I cleaned out two closets and my cedar chest last week, but I’m starting to believe that I wasn’t ruthless enough. I need to be MORE RUTHLESS… or wind up like my mother, still dithering about whether she should pack up all my grandmother’s collectible ceramic bird figurines (“But they’re COLLECTIBLE!! They’re worth MONEY!” Uh, no, Mom. No, they’re not. We’ve had this conversation a dozen times.) and her furniture and books and shell collection (“Mother would just hate it if I got rid of all her treasures.” Me: [headdesk.] You know she’s been dead ten years, Mom. All her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nephews and extant family members have been offered the opportunity to take what they wanted.)
Pack-rat tendencies run strong in my family. I’m trying to head them off, but so far I’m only making marginal progress.
I’m afraid I resemble your mother. In my case, I know that the things I’ve inherited from my parents aren’t worth much, but I still can’t bear to part with them. Not yet at least. My mother died almost 5 years ago, and it was my job to go through everything in the estate. A lot was given away, but I’ve still kept too much. It’s hard because I have an attic and a basement, and thus an excuse for stashing stuff.
It is hard to get rid of everything.
My grandmother lived with my parents for close to 40 years, in a separate “apartment” in the walk-out basement; she had her own living room, kitchen, dining room, bathroom, bedroom. When I was growing up, all her rooms were jammed with furniture and plants and tchotchkes, so that kind of over-furnishing still seems normal to me. Every close family member has been given at least one piece of furniture as well as other keepsakes, so all the desirable things are gone.
So, of course, all the remaining stuff is located in “her space,” and nothing is pushing my mother to clear it out. She complains about it frequently, but every time I offer to help she winds up putting 3/4 of what we just went through back and setting the rest aside to “give to friends,” (it’s still there in bags the next time I visit). so I’ve started insisting that whatever we touch MUST leave the house… and Mom has stopped asking for help. Yikes.
Mom is 78. What are the odds that when she leaves this earth in 20 years, Grandmother’s stuff is still in the basement?
This is where earthquakes come in handy. All my mother’s ceramics, antique jelly molds, staffordshire, crockery , scandinavian glassware, was broken in the Christchurch earthquake. Now there a couple of precious fragments still around but that’s all. Her collection was fantastic…so there is a downside.
I’m with you, mals. My mother is also 78 and her whole house (and storage unit) is stacked to the ceiling. Wish that were an exaggeration but it’s not. My husband votes for torching the place when it inevitably falls to us to clean it out.
Do you think maybe it’s because older generations did without a lot of “things” that younger generations take for granted? It seems that for people who did without get a huge part of their identity from their “things” which may be physical manifestations of their emotional selves? Maybe just avoid the friction all together and spend time with your mom doing things you enjoy. After she passes I think you might regret the squabbles over the “things.”
Sigh, I know the feeling – my in-laws recently moved from their home of 30 years to a smaller apartment. We’ve been given the chance to take what we want SEVERAL times, but still every time we see them they have found one or two more items they just know we want. At this point we just say thank you and decide on our own whether to keep or discard the thing. They’re past the point where they need to sell their house, but seem determined to individually rehome every item rather than just donating it all in bulk. I know that there is a huge emotional component to it, and in some ways they are not ready to move on, but it’s still frustrating to see the burden of *things*.
I’m surprised everyday that my mother hasn’t come back to kill me, for getting rid of most of her stuff. She also believed everything to be collectable.
Lillyjo,
When my dad died, we thought we would need an extra casket for his stuff!!
I say that with all love, that was Dad.
Mom did make it easier for my sister and me. And i am so glad i spent last summer downsizing and cleaning out and getting all my papers in order.
Today’s scent will be a bit of JM incense and cedrat.
When we lived in Iran, any chance to go to Isphahan was wonderful. I can smell the barbarie bread baking early in the shops and the scent of persian roses and fruits piled up on the street shops.
I moved out of the farmhouse in April 2017,with a suitcase of clothes and essentials.
Perfume went to a friend for storage at her place, ample room for my collection, everything else went into 4 storage units untill June.
I emptied and sorted 2 units so far,the rest still awaits me.Lots of sentimental stuff, and great antique furniture,so it’s a process and a half!
I eventually brought all the perfumes to my place, but this weekend again I realized it is ALL TOO MUCH.
Well done, being ruthless is hard sometimes. We moved into a very old, small house with literally two closets (his & hers) ten years ago and it’s good – nothing can come in without something going out. Fortunately, my perfumes and jewelry collections don’t take up much space. My mother is almost 91 and her house is crammed full of stuff; my father died last year and she hasn’t let me change one thing in his bedroom, it will probably all be there for me to deal with when she’s gone. My only sibling has a big house and she’s a huge pack rat with sentimental feelings about everything. I try not to think about how hard it will be to get rid of everything ????
Weather twins! Also, I’m now inspired to start my clean out Thursday, my day off. You better remind me though????
Hey weather twin, it’s supposed to be better tomorrow.????I’ll try and remind you.????
Yes to less! 😀
Life is easier that way.
Indeed! I just keep reminding myself that “when you get rid of the things you don’t need, your possessions become less of a burden.”
MTGirl, I’m joining you in LADDM this morning. I’ve been working toward a capsule wardrobe also and slowly getting there. I think my new job requires more dressing up than other recent jobs, but my aim is to keep it simple by wearing the same things over and different ways.
Hey, i must have missed you got a new job. Congratulations!
Thx! Didn’t officially post yet as I just made the decision to accept – pending negotiation!
Hey twin, we smell so good!
Yeah, if I had to dress up for work that would definitely make it harder to scale down my wardrobe. Apparently Pinterest is where it’s at for good ideas.
Congrats on the new job!!
Congratulations on the new job!
Congrats on the new job!
Scrubs are awesome,I totally agree!!Same here.Jeans/white T/boots/jacket in the AM and I’m ready to go.I do however mix it up with colorful headgear in theatre.Lol
Scrubs are the best! It’s like wearing jammies to work, lol.
I love my Birkenstocks..they are the best shoes!
I LOVE Birkenstocks! I started wearing them over 20 years ago and now I don’t even bother to buy any other kind of sandals because I know I will always come back to my Birki’s. They have a lot of styles now compared to then.
madtowngirl, what sites do you recommend? This past weekend, I was proud of myself for finding 5 items to donate but I replaced them with more JJill clothes ????
Well, I started with Be Less With More which was referenced in the documentary The Minimalists. She has some very good ideas on where and how to start. I am not a very create person though, so I like the blogs Un-fancy, Theblissfulmind, and Truncation because they have suggestions and even links on what to wear and how to put it together.
5 is a good start! I boxed up over 30 items- I feel lighter, lol.
I sound a lot like you, wardrobe wise. I’m wearing the same things day after day because they are quick, easy, and just dang comfortable! Jeans, t-shirt, flannel shirt if it’s coolish, and a pair of (new!) birkenstocks and/hiking shoes. Just so easy…!
Exactly! Which new Birks did you get?! These are the ones I have my eye on for this summer
https://www.lyst.com/shoes/birkenstock-arizona-hex-slide-sandal-1/
One of my shoe stores was having a trunk show last week with a preview of the fall styles. I wanted them all! But resisted and entered a drawing for a free pair instead.
These are the ones I wanted, but I would have to have them mailed from the manufacturer, and the post office here won’t let me use General Delivery for mail/packages:
https://www.birkenstock.com/us/arizona-birko-flor/arizona-shinysnake-birkoflor-0-eva-w.html?dwvar_arizona-shinysnake-birkoflor-0-eva-w_color=26#start=23
These are the ones I ended up getting since the store had them in stock. They are a bit more pink than the photo would have you believe, and in sunshine had a subtle metallic glow.
https://www.birkenstock.com/us/arizona-suede-leather/arizona-washedmetallicleather-suedeleather-0-eva-w.html?dwvar_arizona-washedmetallicleather-suedeleather-0-eva-w_color=578#start=62
Ooooooh, rather liking those Birkis that you did get!
Good for you! I really need to do that. My apt building was built about 6 or 7 years ago with NO closets!! Not sure what he was thinking. So true about reaching for the same few items. The comfortable ones. I have a tendency to want some funky statement piece, and then buy it and never wear it. Somehow, I just don’t learn.
I do the exact same thing. I figured I might as well just get rid of all the stuff I don’t actually wear. It felt good!
No closets?! That’s weird, seems like new construction always has more/ larger closets.
Lol at my SOTD: Sex Appeal by Jovan
Comedy power aside, smells great
🙂
I think that one smells great, too.
Definite comedy power! Glad to hear it smells good too.
Ha! Good to just ditch the innuendo. What does it smell like?
For breakfast I had strawberries (and blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries) with yogurt instead of cream, which sort of counts?
I’m wearing ELdO Rossy de Palma because I’m completely into intense roses right now: I wear that, Rose Anonyme, or Rose Jam almost every day (and I should dig out my samples of La Fille de Berlin and Sa Majesté la Rose too). I’ll get tired of them eventually, I’m sure. But not now.
You smell fabulous! Love intense roses.
That sounds delish. I’m out of yogurt, but going to have strawberries with just a little half and half.
You smell great! I go through intense rose phases, on and off. I’m off right now, but it shall return!
I’m continuing with my sample project, attempting to try samples that have been languishing untried in my collection. Today it’s Ummagumma. It went straight to incense territory on my skin.
I surprised myself by liking this one quite a bit. How do you feel about it?
I wanted the chocolate and tobacco notes it was supposed to have. I smelled them in the sample, but as soon as I applied it to skin – incense! So although it is fine as an incense fragrance, I am disappointed not to get the notes I was expecting.
Good work on the sample project! I find I can only do this on the weekend, or the occasional evening, as the wrong sample is makes for a miserable day.
SotD = Jour d’Hermes
JdH is a nice antidote for our current case of the Mondays. Thank goodness this is just a 24 hour illness.
LOL of the day:

Thought of the day:
Set me
as a seal
on your heart,
a seal
on your arm.
For love,
it is strong.
I’m slowly watching ( and often fast forwarding) through the 5+ hours of news coverage from H&M’s event this past weekend. I’m on hour two. The bro’s just got to the church. Lookin’ gooood! Of course, love looks good on everyone. 😀
I love that verse.
yay! that makes me glad.
LOOOOOOLLLLLL@ the GQ cover!!What the what….!????????
GQ really did a number on those arms and legs. Scary! 😀
That’s hilarious! Love the hand in the lower right corner. And I love Sarah Silverman.
Glad you got a laugh, I sure did. And agree, Sarah is amazing.
Wearing PHI: Une Rose de Kandahar. I’m thinking I should probably buy this while it is still available.
That’s a beautiful one. You smell great!
yes indeed. You smell great!
Hi all! I unknowingly presaged the daily theme, and fixed a strawberry tart with basil pastry cream over the weekend (as a bring-to dessert for dinner at a friend’s). I bought a new pastry book (Modern French Pastry – I was seduced by the photos), and this was one of the easier-looking recipes. It was good. Even better, though, was the home-made pizza my friend made, from Nancy Silverton’s dough recipe. The four of us ate five pizzas at dinner. Granted, they were small pizzas, but still. Delicious!
No scent yet. I’m contemplating going to the gym, so I might wait until after I get home and shower.
Your post just made me hungry! Sadly there’s nothing nearly that good in my kitchen.
My fridge is usually quite boring, as well – lots of beans, brown rice, salmon, and veg – which is likely why I went overboard with the pizza and dessert. There’s something about really good pizza – with a crispy yet chewy crust, and a few really delicious toppings, that makes every bite seem heavenly.
That probably didn’t help with the hunger. 🙂
Lol no it doesn’t! I’m enjoying your description vicariously 🙂
My stomach growled after reading this!
Wearing Jules today. I have the weirdest idea that it would layer well with Bronze Goddess.
I like your style!
Update, I was 100% correct about this and you should all try it.
Oh, very interesting! I would not have guessed it would work.
Trying to finish up a lot of Frederic Malle samples,I reached for Noir Epices this AM,And was 100% convinced it was my SOTD.lol.NOPE!
Monsieur again. There are similarities, but clearly I’m not that much into either of them,if they are so “forgettable”.
Reading some comments above:I had my own mini-heart-attack over the weekend, standing infont of cupboards(again!),looking at my own perfume collection…it’s becoming way too much. And I have not even bought ONE extra bottle in like 3months!!Change is needed.I’m planning a sale of really really unwanted ones at work.Others will be put aside as potential gifts.THE BIG CULL IS ON.
Happy Week All!
wow..sounds like you are going to do some spring cleaning…
Haha!Fall cleaning actually…hehe.Remember I’m on the oooooooother side of the planet, down South!????
Oooooo
Happy autumn ???? cleaning
My computer has been reformatted and I am resetting passwords. But I am still having problems resetting some passwords. Ulta is being a jerk. The temporary passwords they keep sending me won’t work and I e-mailed them saying that they won’t work and I have a coupon and a gift card I want to use. We shall see. NST hasn’t sent the password to the account that I normally use but I am Dawn.
I am about to hop into the shower because Amouage’s Gold for men is starting to bug me. I think that I might wear either Epic or vintage Bal.
Hi Dawn! Sounds like a totally annoying morning!
I like the new name! And vintage Bal was a giveaway ???? Hope things smooth out.
Good luck with your computer!
If you need help with the password, email me!
robin at nstperfume dot com
I smell like orange blossom soap in Eau de New York.
Oh, I liked that one and keep forgetting it exists.
In Jicky this morning, which I am hoping will keep me on the straight and narrow. Easy and tedious work today reviewing and editing pages of a website for content, tone, and design. There are so many links per page to new pages, with their own links to new pages, with their own links to new pages–the Augean Stables.
That sounds like the kind of day where I would endlessly check NST or read perfume reviews or tidy my desktop, or browse ebay…good luck.
House twin! You smell great, OF! I hope it’s helping you deal with the tedium.
Cold and rainy today. Sotd is SL Cedre. I love this one. Happy Monday ????
I love it too.
And me.
????
I’m in such great company!
Wearing Tom Ford White Patchouli. Good scent for an overwhelming Monday at work. White flowers, rose, patchouli, coriander, and ambrette seed blend seamlessly, radiating quiet strength and serenity. Been a while since I’ve made it a SOTD. Have been nursing the last few drops. Another bottle is now on the way. Love.
I really like that one too, it’s perfect for easy elegance. Don’t see it mentioned often which is a shame.
Agree! Is it discontinued? Hope not. Have never come across anything that smells quite like it.
I don’t think so, it’s still at Sephora and department stores.
Whew! : )
It’s on fragrance net too.
I love patch scents. I would buy a small bottle if I could find a good time to wear it. It’s tough to wear patch in an office setting.
Agree, but White Patchouli is pretty far removed from earthy, “hippie” patchouli. It’s the most abstract patchouli I’ve ever come across. On skin, its florals, ambrette, & coriander sing over the patchouli. One spray, 2 max under clothes, creates a very subtle, beautiful scent bubble that stays close-to-the-skin.
Sounds lovely
Bruno Fazzolari Monserrat which counts for the CP. Total impulse buy if this one yesterday as I was near Twisted Lily for an event and I couldn’t NOT go in. I got to sniff a few new-to-me scents including BF Unsettled, Ineke Idyllwild, and PdN Cap Neroli (parsley!!).
Monserrat hans been on my wishlist for a few summers now, so it’s my bday (this coming Saturday!) present to me and I love it!
Love Monserrat! Enjoy!
Thanks! It’s such a cheerful little thing. I think I’ll blow through the bottle quickly since it’s so light.
What a nice birthday gift! I’ve been tempted to head to Twisted Lily…been a long time. Your parsley reference in Cap Neroli reduced my desire a bit. That was one I wanted to sniff. But parsley?
Ditto! Parsley just ruined it
I hadn’t been there in ages either.
The parsley fades after a while, but it kind of took over all the other notes for a while. I totally wasn’t expecting that. Doesn’t smell bad, but not sure I want to smell like that. There are other green herbs I’d have preferred.
I agree with the Parsley note, but also wanted to add in: I love, love, love Cap Neroli. I’ve come to recognize the parsley as the mediterranean herbal notes she’s trying to evoke, rather than a bouquet Garni :). And the dry down is totally different, a pleasant background musk. For me, this is a great everyday fresh getting stuff done scent, which moderate longevity. In fact, I want to put it on most mornings….Having said that, non perfumista friends have scratched their heads at this one and commented that it didn’t smell “perfumey”.
Well, Happy Birthday a bit early! I don’t think you can go wrong when you shop BF fragrances…!
Thank you and true! He has some good ones. I was torn between this one and Five which I also love and has better longevity. Au Dela was tempting but a bit too heavy for the heat for me.
Yay for early birthday presents! How did you like Unsettled?
I didn’t quite get a sense of its character. Maybe from trying too many things at once? But my 1st sniff of it didn’t totally grab me.
In honor of my peonies blooming, am in MDCI Rose di Siwa, which smells not of rose but of (real, not lab-created) peonies to me.
I’ve got a few different varieties of peonies blooming in my garden now, and I was just noticing how similar the smell of roses and peonies can be.
Such a beautiful flower
You smell beautiful! Forgot about that for the cp. Gosh, I really want to smell those peonies.
You smell gorgeous today Mals. My peonies are getting close to blooming. Can’t wait!
SOTD is Seville a la Aube, which coincidentally fits this week’s theme.
Twins!
Amouage Interlude today, it’s still damp and chilly and gray this morning. The gingerbread aspect of Interlude is nicely comforting.
Has anyone tried DSH Amouse Bouche? There’s supposed to be a prominent strawberry note in it and its on my list.
I’ve tried AB and it does have a strawberry note. It’s on the sweet side but very well done
Today I’m wearing Rodin Olio Lusso Perfume…a jasmine delight.
I was obsessed with that one last summer. Smells just like a jasmine eo.
I’m having trouble finding perfumes with a place name, but maybe I need more time to think about it (and more coffee). Right now I’m enjoying some Carthusian Mediterraneo EDT from a tiny splash bottle. Very lemony and pleasant with an herby undertone. It’s kind of a place, right? A place I’d love to be right now! We’ve been having record heat and already summer levels of humidity and now is the second gray rainy day with some thunder. Dreary and depressing for a suitable Monday morning blah mood. My brother and I are trying to put together plans for our mother because it’s come time for her to be in assisted living, but where? We do have some options but the whole prospect is daunting and she’s increasingly depressed about it, which makes us sad.
You smell fantastic! Sorry your mood is not matching, and so sorry about your mom — that is really hard and I hope you will find a good answer. Glad you have your brother to help, it’s much better than doing it alone.
I looked through my perfume and could only find one place name (though I didn’t go through all my samples) – Bulgari Omnia Paraiba. The weather is just not right for it today (chilly, cloudy, damp), so I went with smell bent One.
I did have some strawberries (and raspberries) and yogurt for breakfast this morning, so almost on theme there!
I didn’t know that was a place so I had to look it up. Very interesting! The only thing I’ve heard of before are the Paraiba tourmalines, which are gorgeous.
The community project is educational! I also didn’t know that when I bought it – I think I looked it up a few weeks ago after putting it on to see if it fit the community project (can’t recall which one)! I also learned something as I didn’t know about those tourmalines – they are beautiful!
Ha ha, and NOT cheap: check this out!
https://www.etsy.com/listing/556568751/extremely-rare-tourmaline-paraiba-520?ga_order=price_desc&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=paraiba%20tourmaline&ref=sr_gallery-1-2
My strawberry plants seem to have recovered after the dog decided to nap in the middle of their raised bed. He has the entire back yard to sleep in but chose the one place it was hardest to get into. It has net over it now and there are some blossoms and tiny green berries. Today I’m wearing Pulp–no strawberry, but delicious nonetheless.
Such contrariwise behaviour reminds me of cats, in fact! Your story makes me realize that place-name Friday could actually include places like, oh, Vanilla Fields and not just Paris…
Inadvertently on theme for this Friday, as I am in Chinatown, both the body creme and the perfume. Since it’s a holiday weekend I have been working on the samples, and have finished off OdlR’s Live in Love and a nice but not memorable rose from somebody or other.
Double points then!
Wearing ELDO You or Someone Like You. I love this one in the spring!
Now that Fille de Berlin has faded, I’ve swapped to Jubilation 25 for my birthday meal out with friends. I don’t go out in the evenings to eat very much, and am really excited, I don’t know where we’re going yet.
happy day! Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Have a wonderful birthday Mayfly and a happy year.
Happy Birthday! Jubi 25 is a great special occasion perfume. Hope you enjoy your dinner out!
Happy Birthday Mayfly! You chose two wonderful scents today!Think I’ll wear La Fille tomorrow…
Hope your celebratory dinner is AWESOME!
Happy birthday Mayfly! Enjoy your day! You already smell fabulous!
Happy Scented Birthday, mayfly! You have picked some beauties for your special day. ???? ???? ????
Happy Birthday, mayfly! I hope your day has been lovely so far!
Happy Birthday !
Happy Birthday! I hope you have a lovely time!
Happy birthday! Hope you have a wonderful time with your friends and there is much laughter…
Happy birthday–jubilations indeed!
Happy birthday!????

Today, we’re going to Corsica. Fasten your seatbelt while Kevin takes you on this fragrant journey!

Commuting Woes No. 432
– Guy walked in to the train car and stood next to me. He started sneezing, but at least he sneezed into his sleeve. He could have been allergic to my perfume (but I don’t necessarily care). He started to fan himself with….a thick 3 inch paperback book! Really? That is no better than using a credit card to fan oneself!
you have the best commuting stories…
Thinking of how to tell the story is half the fun of an otherwise tedious commute.
At least Sneezing Dude did not pull out one of those battery operated personal fans!
Or God-forbid sneeze out into the open!
It is near that time of year when the cheap fan goes in the purse for use on subway platforms and cars. And when I tell my husband to enter the middle of the car because it has more direct air conditioning….
I have an old AM New York in my tote bag to fan myself when the need arises.
Hurrah, at least, for sleeve-sneezers! (I had one person sneeze on the back of my neck the other day, when waiting to get on the train. That was… disgusting.)
I managed to mangle my favourite folding fan today. Grr.
That is truly disgusting ????
Eeeek and sorry about your mangled fan!
Getting ready to head to Alabama for my son’s graduation tomorrow! My fiancé, my sister, and I are all flying out today. I am super emotional thinking about it. He’s been out of school technically since December (he received early graduation and is already taking classes at the community college) but they only have one commencement service in May. Seeing him in that cap and gown makes it real. ???? Also, am of his friends since elementary school…I’m going to be a mess! Bought new waterproof mascara just for the occasion ha!
I’m wearing Concentre d’Orange Verte for the plane ride. It will be mostly faded by the time I board.
Here’s to being a mess and a proud parent!
Awww…they grow up so fast…and you still look so young??(Lol…I peeked at your intsta, pretty cool, and that boy is gonna be a heartbreaker!)
Have a good time Kelly!❤️❤️
Congrats, proud mama! Bittersweet moments…
Safe travels, and congratulations on your son’s commencement ceremony!
Congratulations, KellyC. RESPECT for bringing up an accomplished young man!
Congrats to you and your son KellyC! Graduation is one of life’s milestones.
Aaww…. congratulations to you both!
Congratulations to you and your son!!
Aww, have fun!! Graduation is indeed such an emotional day…so much pride, but also heartbreak wrapped all into one. Congrats to you both!
I’ll have to look and see what I have that might have a place name. I went with Vetiver Tonka today. I had a doctor’s appointment so I decided to wear something kind of light and neutral.
VT is a great under the radar scent. Hope all is well at the doctor visit today✌????
We had a light dusting of snow on the hills yesterday and a freezing wind…you know it’w winter when your thighs feel cold through your trousers. I’ve been playing with mitsouko, using it to add character to some of my lighter scents…like La pluie. Such fun. Almost dies when I layered it with Loulou…created a perfume that would suit the crew working jackhammers and steamrollers on the endless roadworks in our street (2 months now). Coco+Mitsouko= Coco Madame Intense…now that’s what I call a party!
Mitsouko+Loulou. Wow, that’s some serious bravery right there. The thought of it made me slightly queasy!
Mitsouko twin!
I really like Coco. I’m going to have to try that combination sometime…
Isn’t that just early winter… and true winter is when you can’t feel your knees?
Mitsouko and loulou? wow, that would clear traffic.
I’m in Diptyque Eau des Sens. I needed some citrus energy at the beginning of this week.
I had to deal with my laptop, as after Windows dowloaded the latest system update my computer stopped working properly. Had to restore whole system to make it usable again…
Urgh, glad I’m not the only one with computer woes…My Ipad picks up ZERO WI-Fi after latest IOS installed.
Technology.
It’s a marvelous thing…????????♂️????????♂️
My elderly IPad never recovered from an update years ago. I still remind my dh of it bc it was his strong encouragement that lead me down that path. Urgh!
My iPad mini stopped getting updates. I asked an Apple Store Genius (heh, I must be one if he is), and he said it’s because it is very old. Whatever. It still works fine.
Every time I update a device, I curse and regret it for weeks. ????
ME TOO. I thought I was somehow cursed, as this never happens to my husband. At least now I know I am not alone . . .
Yeah, the latest Windows update installed some crap on my computer that I did not want. Spent part of the afternoon deleting and uninstalling said crap.
What a pain. I’m glad it got restored!
Well, I just want to express my thanks and relief that romaine lettuce has now been deemed “safe to eat.” I have chicken Caesar salads several times a week and have been jonesing for them in the worst way for the last couple of weeks. I had one yesterday finally and it’s was all kinds of salty crispy parmesan goodness!! Ummm-umm!
Perfume wise, I am back In the damp green Oregon woods with SSS Forest Walk. God, I love this stuff!!
Happy Monday to all, I am working tonight but hoping to get called off ????????
Hope if you DO work it’s a good night,Nurse Deva!
Taking a hot bath after a tough day in theatre.
Kisses!
Nurse Johanò.????????✌????
Thank You! Enjoy that hot bath to the max! ✌????
I am with you on craving a Caesar salad in the worst way. I’m so glad romaine is now safe to eat.
I missed the romaine news ???? But glad it’s back in your life. I do enjoy a good Caesar salad. It’s simple, yet flavorful.
Hope you luck out tonight!
I am totally with you on the romaine lettuce! One of my favorite salads was sadly off limits until the all clear. It will be nice to have it back on the “I can eat this!” list.
Wahoo! I am getting a tub of Forest Walk so hit me up when you’re dangerously close to running out.
You must have some great connections! Thanks for the offer, I’ll keep it in mind????
SOTD Is YSL’s Paris. Happy Monday all!
My ultimate favourite! You smell absolutely wonderful.
Thanks! 🙂
Absolutely beautiful !
Black Jade for this cold rainy Monday…????
Anyone else fighting the blind buy urge for Andy’s newest creation? I love absolutely every note listed! It seems like a safe bet but I’ve been down this path before.????
Anyone interested in a split? ????
You smell great! That’s another one on my increasing long birthday present list.
Thank you!
I got a large “sample” so I can absolutely split it. I haven’t opened it yet.
Oh, do tell!!! I would be interested..!
You know I’m in!
Illuminum Tomato Leaf
SOTD is Diptyque’s L’Eau de Tarocco. I must admit I figured Tarocco was a place; instead it is a type of blood orange as well as a card game. Anyway, I’m almost done with my sample and it’s making the big leap to the buy list.
It does sound like a place!
I have WAY more place name perfumes than I thought, I could do a month of this.
Very happy to see bright blue skies and that big shiny thing up in the sky today!! I was beginning to get a little down in the dumps from all the rain in my area.
I had visited a friend yesterday to see the 10-week old kittens she is currently fostering, with the intent to adopt. Very sweet temperaments, and rather outgoing for being as young as they are. Adorable little balls of fluff! So floofy!
SOTD = Essence Labdanum by Donna Karan, from the sample stash. I am really liking this… kind of a lightweight oriental for warmer weather.
I like the sound of your perfume. Orientals are my first and biggest love!
So. Are you thinking of adopting one of those little floofy bundles? ????
I’m happily surprised at how wearable the DK Labdanum is. Too bad it was a limited edition and/or d’ced.
The kittens are already spoken for, so no. They have a great home already.
Duh me! So it said in you first post…!
KITTENS!!!!!!
(oh, and DK Labdanum is quite nice too)
Sweet little bits of floof KITTENS, no less! One of them is a little grey cloud, while her sister is a black fluff. They look like they are gonna be longhaired cats when the adult coats come in.
I have a grey cloud cat. I had no idea she was going to be a super-floof when I adopted her. She was an older rescue, with sleek, soft short hair and a slight ruff of white. They neglected to tell me that they had had to shave her down to skin when they brought her in…within three months, during the winter, she turned into a dandelion.
It will be interesting to see what the kittens look like as full grown cats. I do wonder if they will go full out dandelion, like your cat.
I have a LOT of perfumes to fit this challenge, so I plan to participate all week. Starting off in Ava Luxe Hong Kong Garden, my biggest discontinued love of hers. Powdery, metallic, iris, grasses, and vetiver.
Hope everyone has a good Monday!
That sounds great!
One spray of Insolence this morning because I didn’t want to offend anyone during our staff meeting. Disappeared after spending a couple of hours cleaning my classroom. Got home to find my sample of Tauer Les Annees 25 with the new Tauer Mag, so had to put that on right away. I’m not good at describing scent but it’s unquestionably a Tauer. It also reminds me of something but I can’t put my finger on it. So far I’m finding it interesting but not something I think I would reach for.
Report back if you think of what it reminds you of, please! I will be happy to have that lemming killed dead.
Sampling Sylvaine Delacourte’s scents today. Lotsa white musk here 🙂 I do like Smeraldo though. But I don’t need 100ml of it. Would anyone be interested in splitting one of her sets of 7.5ml sprays? A set of 4 is $75 so each one would be about $20 depending on shipping costs. If you’re interested, ping me at emc dawt 7 1 1 7 in the land of gee-mayle.
Monday! Relaxing! Yesterday was my husband’s volunteer fire department’s annual pancake breakfast. My kitchen helper flaked on me so I was on my own in the kitchen! Mixed up batter (from scratch of course) and juice for 160 🙂 Husband owes me 🙂 🙂
… in case I wasn’t clear enough… the SD sets let you pick each of the 4 scents individually. Nice!
Yes, your husband does! Pancakes from scratch for 160?? Wow!
I’m trying to imagine how much batter that would be..? For ONE HUNDRED SIXTY firefighters…! Holy Krakatoa Batman!
Mostly not firefighters, thank heavens, just the general public (it’s a fundraising event). Still! Yup that’s a lotta pancakes!!
I love making pancakes and eating them too, but for 160? Wowza! You win at pancakes.
That is heroic on the batter….
I’m doing a Mitsy Monday here.
It’s a rather nice day for a Monday. The high will be below 100°, there’s no gusty wind, and the humidity right now is a very desert-y 3%. Yeah, you read that right: 3%. ????
Only 4 more days until ‘Solo’. Yaaay!
Wow, we had 100% humidity yeasterday and 83% today, which is relatively comfortable.
Mitsy? Mitsouko or Mitzah? Either way, you smelled great!
Yesterday….
Mitsouuuuuko! ????
(See what we mean when we say, “It’s a dry heat”?????) I’m OK with high humidity in cool or cold weather, but if it’s hot… I can’t do it. I can’t.
I wore Cristalle for the first time today since last summer. I had a long and difficult day at work and it was a perfect companion.
Sorry to hear that you had a rough Monday.
I hope tomorrow’s better for you!
Osmanthe Yunnan to to fly across the Atlantic (to give myself a lovely scent bubble in all that staleness without annoying people around me). And then arriving to a parcel of vintage Fracas (thanks, Mals!)
In Washington DC for, um, 46 hours total. Which is absurd. I am fighting to get a little time free on Wednesday morning to go and see the Sally Mann exhibition at the National Gallery.
You smell great Crikey, hope the travels go smoothly!
