It's Hump Day and Golf Day and Ella Fitzgerald's birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing a dab of By Kilian Apple Brandy, from perfumer Sidonie Lancesseur.
Reminder: 4/27 will be Next Generation Friday...wear something from a younger perfumer.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

SOTD is vintage Amazone extrait by Hermes. Happy Hump day!
Yes to Hermes! I’m imagining you smell fabulous. 😉
OOOH I have an older Amazone edt mini on my dresser… might have to wear that one today. Thanks for the nudge. 🙂
Nudge nudge! This one has been calling to me for a while. A few coworkers really liked it!
Just had a couple of sprays of Jour d’Hermes that I can barely smell. Either the flu or an ugly cold are hitting on my door ????. Leaving for work in a while in a gray, rainy day, but at least I smell great ????.
Hope it’s just a little cold. Stay dry!
Thank you Lillyjo!
You do smell great. Hope you can shake whatever is coming your way!
Thank you KellyC. Drinking lots of tea with ginger and honey and vitamin C. I have a busy, crazy week at work, so I have to try my best to make it.
You DO smell great. 😀
Thank you! You too smell fantastic in Iris Ukiyoe!
(almost!) scent twins, I’m in Jour d’Hermes absolu today.
I hope you’re cold doesn’t get worse!
Thank you! Absolue is also very beautiful. You smell gorgeous!
Hope you feel better stat! ????????
Thank you Deva! Hope so too!
Maybe it’s just allergies…? Whatever it is, I’m rooting for you to feel better soon! ????
Thank you! It might be allergies. At this time I am pretty confused about it. Just feeling a little miserable. ????
Hoping it passes soon! You do smell great ????
Thank you Elisa P. I hope it goes fast.
Oh no, get better quickly!
Thank you Koyel! I am glad to know you are feeling much better.
Oh no, perhaps a shot of whiskey/bourbon to ‘kill’ those nasty germs??
You smell lovely though, I love JdH.
Have you tried the Gardenia flanker?
Thank you! I will have a shot for sure when I get home.
I sampled the Gardenia a while ago and the opening is almost the same as the original. The gardenia is very noticeable in the mid notes. A very pretty green floral perfume, but I did not find it full bottle worth. I love the original and the absolue and with those 2 I have enough.
I splurged (did not tell the hubby the $$ price tag!) on the body cream, it’s so decadent and rich!
The body cream sounds wonderful. How does it compare to the perfume?
Boo on feeling poorly! Do you have maybe a “Just in Case” type of tea or coffee for this sort of stuff?
I always have Echinacea and Ginger-Lemon tea for those cases. I have been drinking plenty today. Hope they help me some.
Amouage woman sample today. Nice but not begging me to purchase it luckily 🙂
Which Amouage is it?
Starting work in a few minutes. Sotd is No. 19, it’s cool but sunny here. Music of the morning drive is The Beatles. They lied, the love you take, really isn’t equal to the love you make.
no. 19 and the Beatles tho, what a great combination for spring driving!
A very good combo, indeed ????
You smell perfect, of course.
Thanks! It’s been awhile since I’ve worn it. Seemed like the perfect day for enjoying it.
They lied about a lot of things 🙂
Ha!
No. 19 means that you are ready for anything!
Hope so!
You smell gorgeous!
Thank you!
The Beatles were who I thought of when I saw the photo of the apple… reminds me of their record labels which I loved as a kid! The whole green apple on side 1 and the apple cut in half on side 2.
Ahhh… Nostalgia!
Ahhh…. is right, i loved everything about records. The labels, the sleeves, the liner notes….
Wearing Amouage Bracken Woman from Dorothee Piot and Karine Vinchon-Spehner, under creative director Christopher Chong.
Damp earth and small fern heads with clean water for this sunny spring day
That one is so interesting. I can’t decide if I like it or not. It’s so green, and I’ve never been a big fan of the greenies, but still…
Ditto, Nancyleandros. I can’t decide either. It’s definitely interesting, but I wish someone would walk by wearing it. I think I need to sniff it by accident in order to know how I feel about. Currently, I have an intellectual respect for and curiosity about it. But I don’t know how I *feel* about it.
You hit the nail on the head, lizbee. I respect this for what it is and for the skill of the perfumer, but not sure I want to walk around in it.
This one was an immediate YES for me, whereas most Amouages are a solid meh
( Except for you Darling Dia). Part of the reason is that it reminds me of a tiny pond in a park in my childhood town. Damp soil, tiny little ferns, water, and an atmosphere of peace.
It is the only Amouage FB I have ever purchased.
I remember feeling like that about almost all the Imaginary Authors scents I tried – loved the ideas, the concept, liked the smells – but found they weren’t really scents I wanted to walk around in. I suppose when you find that scent you both admire with your head and your heart, you hit the jackpot!
That’s so true. I think that’s what makes this so much fun, finding a YES! among all the maybes. I also love when a Definite No becomes a TOP 5 EVER. (I’m looking at you, Cuir de Russie.) Of course, that makes it so much harder to turn the maybes away, because what if?
Bracken Woman was love at first sniff for me as well. The color of the bottle is beyond gorgeous and I also got an in-store discount.
I’m wearing Arquiste/j.crew no.31. Tried, but could not quite manage to empty the decant. I have probably one more wearing left. However, I have 2 rollerballs of this so while I like it a lot, I don’t need a full bottle.
Have you tried the spicy resinous No. 57? I love that one, need to wear it before summer officially begins.
I haven’t tried that one, but it looks very vanilla forward to me, and I really dislike vanilla.
No. 31 sounds pretty!
On me, the 57 is more booze, spices & resins, I get a tiny touch of sweetness which balances it…
I’m joining the Hermès peeps in EdM today. I smell sparkly.
I think spring has finally arrived!? I just might (MIGHT????) be able to take the second down comforter off my bed sometime soon.
I’ve gotten enough samples of this from Sephora over the past year, I’m going to have to break down and get the bottle. I love it SO much! Also love the bottle. You smell wonderful.
U do smell wonderful, one of the three scents that really pulled me down the rabbit hole!
The nice thing is it’s generally available at discounters….
…and the 1 oz bottle is too cute!
Thank you! EdM was my first blind buy and it was love at first sniff.
KellyC, on the EdMs, the 100mL bottles were too big for me to comfortably spray so the largest I’ve bought was the 50mL. The 30 mL is SUPER cute and worth paying more per mL.
Thanks for the feedback! Is the 30 ml a spray? I do prefer spray over splash. But I try not to get 100 ml of anything anymore unless I want to split it or something. Too many scents, too little time!
Spray. It feels decadent to bring FBs on vacation and these do not take up much luggage space.
Yay for Merveilles! EdM is absolutely sparkly. Those first few minutes of bubbly happiness are perfection, goes without saying I enjoy the rest of the scent too. 😉
Go team Hermès!????
Yay for Merveilles! EdM is absolutely sparkly. Those first few minutes of bubbly happiness are perfection, goes without saying I enjoy the rest of the scent too. 😉
I love EdM’s first few minutes – wish it stayed that way.
Agreed. The drydown doesn’t work for me, it gets very salty, which my skin doesn’t interpret well. I keep trying though.
Is this the Eau or the Elixir?
It’s the Eau. I briefly had a 15ml bottle of the Elixir, but that one was more of a sweet/syrupy drydown on my skin that made me feel a little queasy when I wore it, so away it went!
I seem to be alone in preferring the Elixir, though I have and like both. I’ve never found it all that sweet. Hmm, interesting.
I like the elixir better too, but needed cold weather to wear it comfortably, so I ended up re-homing it.
It’s probably just me. I’ve never been a fan of sweet scents, but my tolerance for sweet seems to be getting worse the older I get. I tried to wear Angel one day last week and it practically made me hurl. It’s my bff’s signature scent and I LOVE smelling it on her.
I liked EdM the minute I sniffed it when it first came out, but I didn’t buy it for a number of years. It is sparkly… my husband asked me what that meant, and I had trouble describing it. Next time I wear it, I’ll just shove my wrist his nose and say…”See? This is what I meant.”
Everyone needs a few sparkly scents in their collection, I feel the same way about No 5 L’eau.
I love EdM, all the way through but especially the mineral/salty/earthy notes. You smell terrific!
Thanks!
yes to mineral/salty/earthy notes! love it.
And Bleue has a good dose of the mineral aspect!
Twins today! EdM always works.
Hey twin! We smell lovely, I agree, it always works!
thank you for sharing your impressions from the front line! (couldn’t respond on other thread)
You bet!
Spring is here! Little flowers poking up out of the ground, small piles of dirty snow melting quickly. No sun today, we’re having April showers, but at least it’s warm. TF Noir de Noir today.
One of my all time favs- I almost wore it today too. You smell amazing.
Ditto! This is the one that opened the door to patch for me. It’s still a note that often doesn’t work for me, but Noir de Noir let me know I could wear it AND enjoy it.
You smell so good! NdN is on the top of my SMOOTH list, from what I have smelled so far, it’s a force, but still very refined to me.
I spotted my first glimpse of flowers this morning too! The blooms are definitely late this year.
Noir de Noir = YUM!
I’m wearing Mes fleurs de tulipes by Jean-Michel Duriez
Ah, how is that one?
Good morning, friends! I am in one of my favorite cheap celebrity scents, Adam Levine for Women (thank you, hajusurri). The nose is Yann Vasnier who seems youngish to me so I think I’m participating.
Can it be the weekend, already?
You smell lovely! Be strong weekend is around the corner! How is your beautiful dog doing?
He is well! I think he’s settling in. He’s more energetic and playful than those first few days. He has sure bonded with us already.
So happy to hear he is fine and enjoying staying with you. He looks so adorable!
Ditto he weekend wishes!
Ooooh, love this category! So far I only have Covet and Queen, going to look this up now….
You smell wonderful! I am wearing the lovely DK Gold (thank you Pixel!), also by Yann Vasnier. He also did the exquisite Wit and now that I’m looking him up, Arquiste 31 and 57! I totally respect his high/low participation in the fragrance world!
Adam Levine is really nice!
SotD is Dilettante, by Hiram Green
What a great scent!
Wednesdays are always very quiet (not that many people in the office and hardly any meetings), so I did not give it that much thought this morning, but do you guys think Dilettante is safe for work?
It has a bit of salty funk to it (I adore that part), but I can see how some ‘perfume grinches’ may find it too much haha
great name too!
I think you can pretty much get away with all sorts of perfume at work in the Netherlands.
I’ve yet to try Dilettante. I’ve only tried the first two Hiram Greens and love Moon Bloom, his second (can’t remember the name) wasn’t as enjoyable to me.
Yup, i guess thats true. 🙂
I try to keep it somewhat decent though 😉 because I work in an open spaced office, thats very crowded. And on some days I have lots of meetings in small rooms. But one of my bosses wears Coco and you can smell it from miles away, and throughout the years I have also detected Opium and Poison haha. 🙂
I am a big Moon Bloom fan as well. And I recently started to warm up to Shangri La.
Beautiful photo once again!
SOTD BoE for a day locked up in a room with a bunch of crusty people (I’m including including myself in that description!) that really don’t want to be there, trying to communicate with an ancient computer program. Oh Lordy!
BoE, save me!!
Yum! You smell fantastic!
Thank you!
You smell elegant! I’m curious if all the hospitals that you travel to use computer charting…. Or are there some that still use paper?
There are a few programs that are more frequently used by larger health care systems. The tricky part is that each system can modify or tweak the program so many of the functions are different. Sometimes you can jump right in, and sometimes you need to take the facility led classes. To jump right in, you usually have to pass a computer system proficiency test. Fun times????
The government has mandated electronic systems nationwide, as far as I know. If not in compliance, I believe there are monetary “fees” that the facilty must pay…
Very classy scent! Good luck with the computer training… sounds unpleasant.
Thank you! I survived so that’s a plus! ????
SotD = Iris Ukiyoe
Happily jumping on the Hermes love train today. 😀
How is this one compared to Hiris?
You did not ask me so I am really butting in, but IU is not really about iris root — it’s a dewy / watery floral.
Good to know. I feel like a lot of his scents are dewy and watery.
I agree with Robin, it tells the story of the flower not the root. As an example, Iris Ukiyoe is nothing like Hiris. IU is gauzy and floral with a delicate citrus top note that I adore.
That sounds lovely! I love citrus. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to the Hermès website and put together one of those coffret sets of the 15ml bottles. One of these days I will actually buy one, lol.
OJ Osmanthus, AGAIN. Guess I’m still on the Can’t Stop/Won’t Stop train. Gorgeous spring weather here!
I imagine you smell wonderful!
OJ osmanthus made it to one of my “lists” yesterday! not that that is a very prestigious place to be, ha – I fell down the Osmanthus research hole yesterday, after sampling Roger & Gallet Fleur d’Osmanthus and Hermes Osmanthe Yunnan
Is the OJ your favorite? any other favorite Osmanthus scents?
Hi Coin-op! The OJ is a favorite citrus. I don’t find it very osmanthus-y.
I think the Hermes and also Parfums d’Empire Osmanthus Interdite are better representations of osmanthus. Just my uneducated opinion, however. I have not yet found my own very favorite osmanthus.
And I’m not familiar with the Roger & Gallet. It might be wonderful.
thanks springpansy! this is great feedback. The Roger & Gallet i purchased spontaneously because of the price – Victoria BDJ did give it a positive review, but said it was not a very strong osmanthus scent.
I have the R&G and like it a lot when it’s too hot out for perfume. It smells mostly like peach water to me.
2 deeper and more heady/rich/leathery osmanthus scents are Perris Monte Carlo Absolue d’Osmanthe and Auphorie Miyako. Very different from the sheer apricot tea of the Hermes, R&G, PdE ones.
I find Fig-Tea by Nicolai is another Osmanthus example.
thanks! i would have never looked Fig-Tea otherwise, going on the list!
Oh, Fig-Tea’s nice.
The Different Company has a beautiful Osmanthus. Can’t go wrong with JCE imo.
thank you! how do you think it compares to Osmanthe Yunnan?
Hmm…okay, I’ve got samples of both and have them on the backs of my hands. My initial impression is that TDC is slightly fruitier and powdery. OY is “sharper,” but not a sharp perfume per se. Both beautiful, the Hermès would not be worth the price difference (for me.)
Not that anyone asked me… My favorite Osmanthus scents are Rahele and Fig Tea. I need to try the osmanthus scents by OJ, PdE and TDC. The Hermes is beautiful but is gone almost as soon as I am done spraying.
I’m not that knowledgeable about osmanthus – glad you replied also and hope more people will!
I love the apricot smell of osmanthus. It just works for me.
Oh, I love R & G scents! I have several!
Auphorie Miyako has osmanthus as a dominant note. Full disclosure, I did not like it as it smelt like a damp basement.
I’m wearing Oud Palao today and feeling a bit smothered by it, but I guess I gave myself some very liberal sprays since I’m not going out anywhere. I am definitely getting rose, rum, and patchouli, on top of rather stinky oud. I haven’t looked up the creator yet, so not sure if I’m in the CP or not.
Well, just looked it up and the nose is Fabrice Pellegrin. From his long list of scents, I’m guessing he might not count as “young,” but I’m not sure. It’s an impressive list, although I’m only familiar with a couple of the other ones besides Oud Palao–also by Diptyque–Eau Duelle, and Volutes (which I love and also own, in both versions).
Btw, our weather has advanced to the late spring stage at which all the white florals are blooming at once! Yesterday I could smell the scent of jasmines along the fence at my office building even while standing out on the fifth floor balcony! And at home, I discovered that my neighbour’s big gardenia bush had three blossoms (oooh, that wonderful salty-buttery smell) plus there was a huge low-hanging magnolia blossom that I could pull down on the tree branch and sniff–lemony beauty! Ahhhh, how wonderful, except–ALLERGIES!!!
Ahh all these blossoms sound heavenly!
jealous of the banquet of flowers you get to smell! I have allergies too, but I mostly just get to smell grass 🙁
Sigh. Spring!
I’ve only ever tried Oud Palao on paper. On account of it smelling like vomit, I just could not stomach it touching skin. I almost threw up.
SOTD: Jour d’Hermes Absolu….Spring!!!
Yum!
I’m in Rose de Petra today, having the exact opposite experience as yesterday. It’s hitting the spot perfectly. I smell amazing! ????????
Isn’t it funny how we react to scents differently just within a day or two apart?!
It really is. I’m curious about why that happens.
Beautiful! That bottle is gorgeous too.
I happened upon a PBS documentary last week that mentions the Nabataeans, and that the wealthy city of Petra was established because of the lucrative incense trade across the deserts between Africa and Europe. I had no idea!
I love the bottle! Had no idea about the city of Petra or its incense history, but that’s fascinating. I would really love to see it.
wearing Perles de Lalique….
I thought this would be much rosier than I find it, after the initial herby blast it settles down to a very pretty patchouli veil…i really like it!
QUESTION:
has anyone tried Poudre d’Or Mizensir?
I’m looking for a something to fill my desire for a “Classique, but better” perfume.
Second this. A Classique but better sounds awesome. Love the picture btw.
Let me know if you make any good “powdery white floral vanilla” discoveries!
T-24!
Coin-op, is that you?! Lovely avatar! ✌????
C’est moi! thanks, it’s nice to be back!
Please please tell me why this is your new avatar!
ha! just counting down to the big day 5/19 and celebrating the love! changing my avatar is cheaper than a commemorative plate too 🙂
https://www.etsy.com/listing/589713853/prince-harry-and-meghan-markle
You might want this plate ???? (no affiliation)
Um, yes please!! 🙂
That’s…Ed Sheeran?
…or one of the hobbits from LOTR? 😉
Koyel-????????
VC&A Rose Velours from the sample pile. I’m feeling a bit meh about it. It’s a nice enough jammy rose, maybe a little too sweet for me. But it’s not really doing anything for me.
I also have a bit of the new Commodity Nectar on my hand from a Sephora sample. I quite like it! It’s a rich, almost chewy, neroli/OB. Simple and linear, but sunny and cheerful.
thank you for the osmanthus recs! I would never have looked those up but they sound very intriguing!
You’re wells! Supposedly Miyako smells very much like osmanthus eo. I couldn’t really wear it, myself, but it was fascinating to smell. I’ve never smelled osmanthus IRL, and had no idea how complex it smelled. The Perris MC one is quite beautiful and more of a proper perfume. Gentler than Miyako but still rich.
Great great info – this is why i love nst 🙂
I actually got a dab of osmanthus eo from Mountain Rose Herbs (recommended by chocolatemarzipan) and it smells wholly different than a nosegay of osmanthus – I think I’d prob prefer smelling like a waft of florals than that – BUT it looks like you can get the Miyako sample from their website for $5 shipped, so I’ll give it a try!
Hey, where is cm anyway? I miss her.
SOTD Aedes de Venustas Cierge de Lune.
A beautiful one!
I really enjoy most of Aedes de Venustas fragrances, but Cierge de Lune is one of my very favorites.
Oh, that one is pretty. You smell lovely today.
You smell so wonderful
I’m in Iris 39, inspired by Gail, who wore it yesterday. This is from a sample courtesy of a kind NSTer in NYC. I salute you!
Scent twins!! I doubled down with the edp (from my sample). Meant to do a couple drops, but 1/2 the vial came pouring out on my forearm. I figured it was a sign so I added a couple drops if the oil now.
Oh, I’m sorry about your sample, but you do smell great!
Couple of spritzes of Ostara to see if it’s a good rainy-spring-day scent. I got the first wet blast, but I think my sinus issues are interfering with my sense of smell. Remind me again….make a doctor appointment already….
Make a doctor appt already!
+1 to this!
Our grass has finally gone that super-green color I associate with Ireland, albeit about six weeks later than usual. (Husband keeps looking outside and muttering darkly, “Hope the grass grows faster than the cows can eat it, or they’ll be hungry this winter.”) The redbuds are blooming. Trees are putting out new leaves.
I am FINALLY ready to decant and split Epidor. (Split participants, look for the email I just sent you.) I wore it yesterday, and it is really wonderful. The big bottle is plummier than I remember the sample being, and the wheat notes are a little toned down, but it’s just gorgeous and glowy.
In vintage-ish Amazone today, collecting up mini bottles of various provenance to sell on ebay. I was planning on listing individually, but now I’m wondering if it would be better to list them in small lots of 3 to 5. Anyone have advice?
I’d sell them individually.
Agree. If I see a mini on the bay that I want, and it’s part of a lot of mostly things I don’t want, I’ll pass on it.
Agreed! I almost never see more than one thing I want in a lot, so if the lot costs more than I’d pay for the thing alone, I don’t buy it. And good for you, Mals – I’m always saying I’m going to do this but not getting around to it.
Good morning, in Baiser Vole Lys Rose today thanks to the swapmeet and morejasminplease (hi!). It’s easy and friendly and will allow me to choose something else in the afternoon, by which time it will have faded (not always a bad thing in my book).
I’m not sure Mathilde Laurent was young when she created it, but it’s a young-ish scent to me and matches a skirt I’m wearing with a rose print. A rose scent would fit even better, but I was too chicken to give Rose Royale another try!
Any free time I’ll have today I’m going to spend debating which Guerlain classic scent to add to my fragrancenet cart to get to $59. Chamade is in the running, for sure…
You can’t go wrong with most Guerlains.
Don’t know why that comment duplicated, but it did.
I’m at the edge of my seat!
What does the Terre d’hermes come to? Does he use the EDT or EDP?
I got my husband a set that came with a small refillable bottle – and I huge bottle that you use to refill it with – but I don’t see that combo online now.
it comes to like $27 (!). In Edt. He likes to spray, so I don’t think I can handle the EDP… 🙂
gotta look for that coupon stat!
that 37% deal is very elusive, I don’t have a code, and the deal pops up sometimes, but not others!
OK, but here is the thing, if both the Terre d’Hermes and your Guerlain classic are under $30, you may have to get a 3rd fragrance to get to $59 free shipping. No one said it would be easy, ha. keep us posted!
I found the 37% off. And yes, now under 59 and dithering…
for your consideration…the they mini’s of several from the Prada Infusion line that look kind of interesting…Infusion d’Oeillet, De Amande, etc., around $10.00
Eschmeling!
There are 37% off coupons for fragrancenet floating around! now is the time to buy! I recently purchased from there but only got 33% coupon 🙁
You can’t go wrong with most Guerlains.
Ella Fitzgerald!!! What an extraordinary voice. I listened to a LOT of her in high school. I should dig some of her music up again.
I’m back at work today! I’m mostly ok, though a bit stuffy/coughy and woozy/nauseated from DayQuil + the vestiges of last night’s NyQuil. I think I just have to take it easy and sleep for nine hours again tonight (as I did last night!), and I will be good as new by tomorrow, Friday at the latest.
I can pretty much smell again (actually, we verified I could already smell yesterday when we went to what I think was a Hong Kong sweets shop and sat next to someone eating a durian pancake–yech). SOTD is En Passant! Spring in a bottle. I LOVE it. Olivia Giacobetti is 52, which is younger than my parents and therefore counts as young…? Sure, let’s go with that.
So glad you’re starting to feel better 🙂 I imagine you smell just lovely!
Do you find en passant to have a strong natural lilac scent to it?
I think…that I have a lot of trouble relating perfume versions of scents to their natural versions. It’s the most beautiful perfume lilac I’ve ever smelled. It’s…not THAT realistic to my nose, but I think I’m a little broken in that regard.
Nice to hear that you are feeling better today! ????
Wearing a combo of Prada Candy Gloss and Arielle Shoshana today.
And do they play nicely together?
yes! I find them to be very similar. both are sharp and fresh.
I wanted something sort of green-ish today, so I went with Berdoues Selva do Brasil. I think I may even be on theme. Go me! I looked up the perfumer on Fragrantica, and the perfumer listed is Jennifer Riley, who only has like 3 perfumes listed on her page. She also did Assam of India.
That one’s a nice greenie. How’re you feeling, btw?
I’m feeling pretty good, thanks. Came back to work on Monday. I had my 2-week follow-up with my surgeon this morning, and he says everything is looking good and healing nicely.
Good to hear! Back to work already?! Wow. I’m impressed.
Glad you are feeling so much better!
So happy to hear you’re healing well. 😀
Your wearing of SdB prompted me to open a sample I had not yet tried. Love at first sniff, at least so far!
Yay for good news on your follow-up!
Alien eau extraordinaire today. I have a splash mini and thought I overdosed it but I’m not getting much after 6 hours. It’s much easier to wear than Alien, which sometimes goes all scratchy on my skin.
I did a bit of testing and spraying here and there this morning, still having a hard time figuring out what to wear with the change in seasons. Spring florals still don’t appeal. Ended up in PHI and man, do I smell good.
Slogging through the laundering of winter items for summer storage. I purchased quite a few cashmere items beginning last summer and after doing a bit of reading on care, purchased The Laundress Wool & Cashmere shampoo to wash them in. I cannot rave enough about this product! Some reviews I read said it made their sweaters softer and nicer than they were brand new, and I have to wholeheartedly agree.
Yesterday I laundered a mohair-blend moto vest that I don’t wear very often because it’s so itchy. Now that it’s dry it feels like soft, curly, puppy fur 🙂 If I didn’t have to fight my washing machine make sure it doesn’t agitate, this task might be more pleasurable. I have to babysit the damn thing through every step and use multiple settings. The downside of computerized v. manual settings 🙁
Happy hump day, all!
I’ve wondered about that wash, good to know.
Kelly Caleche parfum. I can’t rec this enough– it’s really beautiful and smooth. The parfum can be purchased on ebay for very cheap.
Speaking of ebay– a seller has some big Atelier Cologne Candles on sale for $29.99 with shipping. Not affiliated (just excited about getting to try one). I looooove their soaps. The seller left out the word “cologne” from the brand name. Just a heads up.
SOTD is Lollia Sleeping Under the Stars, bought just last week
I have to check that one out the next time I’m in anthro. I do like those new bottles.
Long time NST reader. Finally joining in. Wearing the only super cheap scent I’ve ever liked, Eternity Moment. I’m not a floral lover, but this is early spring in a bottle. Picked-up 2 yrs. ago at TJ Maxx for a song. Hoping it will finally get spring to last in Ohio.
Welcome scentsenior! Fellow Midwesterner waving hello!????
Welcome!
Hello scentsenior!
*waves hi & welcome*
Hi scentsenior, glad you delurked!
Love delurked! Thanks all for the welcomes.
Good morning, NST. Work again—I could really get used to these short weeks! I’m facing a long, busy day full of tedious meetings and more tedious tasks, and people who seem to have reached the edge of their tolerance for one another, their humour, and their sense of purpose. I’m not sure that I’m not among them, actually. Seems to be forever since I had a big, uproarious belly laugh. Actually, it was yesterday when I was talking to my sister in Australia, but yesterday seems forever ago. Anyway, what perfume helps get me through a day like this? Used to be I’d turn to No. 19 on days like this, but it’s a bit unreliable for me these days, so my spine-stiffener today is Beloved. Its beauty is a strong contrast to my clothes: jeans, shirt, velvet bomber, boots. It’s a very, “ Don’t mess me about,” outfit, while Beloved suggests things that are soft and flowing and languid. I quite like the disjoin.
Well, I need to arise and get second cups of tea, which means unearthing myself from beneath three cats, which is a bigger job than it sounds, because when I shift one and move on to the second, the first sort of flows back into place again. It’s a mystery how they do that. Be well, all.
Cats are liquid, especially when you are trying to get them off your lap, or off of the bed. ????
Thought I had grabbed my decant of Misia, sprayed Tauer L’Eau decant instead. Wondered why Misia smelled different. ???? Then sprayed Misia. Both decant courtesy of the lovely PL67. ???? Blind buy of Edward Bess Genre arrived today. It smells like how I imagined Stash would smell.
Oh my gosh I love Genre SO much! Do you enjoy it or no (based on the Stash comment)?
I really do! Do you wear Genre year-round?
Yes! I am not one to seasonalize (I don’t think that’s even a word) my scents. I wear whatever I like whenever I like ha! ESPECIALLY if I love it, and I do Genre.
I have a feeling I’ll be wearing it all of the time!
You are smelling really wonderful today! ????
Thank you????!! Hope you are feeling better this afternoon!
Trying!. Hope tomorrow it is much better than today.
Hmmmm love Genre
It’s really fantastic. Addictive!
Yeesh! I am terribly fond of Misia and terribly unfond of Tauer l’Eau, so that would have been a very sad mistake for me to have made.
Ha yikes – yes it caught me off-guard. ???? hope you are feeling better as well!!
I am wearing new Maitre Ceramiste fragrance from Extrait d’Atelier. I smell like an incense blended with moist clay. Funny but I like it a lot.
I’m in Frederic Malle En Passant, the quintessential spring fragrance for me, all the lilacs in our neighborhood have started blooming.
Wearing Jo Malone Wild Fig & Cassis. Discontinued.
I’m curious: are my tastes that much different from the average perfume shoppers even when it comes to Jo Malone perfumes? It’s not the first perfume from the line that I like that got discontinued or never re-issued after being a part of the limited edition, while others that I find boring and repetitive are still in the collection or are being re-introduced for the second/third chance (all those LE blossoms that disappear from my skin before I left the store).
I just got the Saks Mothers Day advertisement in the mail and it’s pretty amazing. Has anyone else seen it? I think it has the most gorgeous photographs of perfume bottles I’ve ever seen. Some of them (the photos) are real works of art: the Victor&Rolf Bonbon, an array of pretty pastel juices cut-glass Bottega Veneta bottles, STUNNING angular Mugler bottles in amethyst, emerald, and pale sapphire, and more–it makes the Bond No. 9 one Spring Fling with the pink rose look just gorgeous. And the McQueen perfume bottle, is that ever gorgeous!–one to buy for the bottle alone, but for the $395 price tag. I may save this booklet just because it’s such lovely photos. As for scent strips, there are only a couple–which is good actually, as I hate them. Still, I compulsively sniff each one. They are the aforementioned Spring Fling (sweet), and Jo Malone Blossom Girls (sweet but lighter). The only GWP seems to be a fancy atomizer, if you spend $100–ho hum. They really do carry a lot of brands now, more than Saks used to in the past.
Calypso –
I paged through it last night. It makes me want everything. Oye.
SOTD is Twill Rose by Les Parfums de Rosine. I ordered a 3ml sample some months ago and seem to recall being whelmed on first trying it, but it called my name this morning and I’m finding it quite FB-worth now. Of course, now I can’t find it anywhere because it’s d/c’d. Why do I do this to myself, one might wonder. BdJ’s “new fragrance” post says it was marketed to men, but I don’t find it particularly masculine. Did any of you try it while it was still available?
I bought a decant of it and gave it to my H and loved it on him. Even Rosines that aren’t d/c’d can be hard to find 🙁
An early start for me at work today so I’m wearing Five O’Clock au Gingembre for its bracing warm gingery hug of spices.
I love this scent. It’s just so cozy.
Yes it feels like you could still be curled up in your pjs… 🙂
Aeon 001 today. I don’t know what I’m going to do when I finish this decant. There is no more available. Anywhere.
Don’t fall in love with limited production scents, it’s a heart breaker. Please Bogue, make some more.
14 hours on, and it’s still there, shifting, being intriguing but also comfortable…nearly as comfortable as the floofy grey Herschel cat who has done the perfect squirrel curl (wrap self into tight ball, then roll belly outwards a little from the middle, ensure tail is spectacular) on my jumper next to me as I stuff)
stuff? study!
Moschino I Love Love for today.
Today started off grey and drizzly, with a few actual rain shower thrown in. Now it’s bright and sunny, but I would have preferred a little more rain. Tree pollen is off the charts here when it isn’t raining, so it’s sneezing season. Ah, allergies.
SOTD = Byredo Gypsy Water, from the undying sample in my stash. This seems to have become my “Going to the dentist” scent. Today’s appointment was short and sweet… post-op consult with the periodontist to see how things were healing. The answer: pretty good!
…”rain showers”. I can say that there were definitely more than one.
I started the day in Iris Nobile (EDP) and have since moved on to Havana Vanille. Both are gorgeous, neither of them is by a young perfumer.
Love the apple picture!
SOTD is Rose de Siwa. I’m not doing very well with this week’s cp. It rained all day here today which was great for knocking down the pollen and the grass is a beautiful deep green.
You smell wonderful!
As do you austenfan! I tried the Iris Noble EDP not too long ago. Such a lush floral and perfect for hot weather. I just blind bought a partial bottle of the EDT based on the advice of a few NSTRs. I haven’t received it yet so we’ll see.
Your SOTD is gorgeous! ????
Why thank you!????
SOTD = Armani Prive Iris Celadon
Because Laura wore this 2 days in a row and someone else wore this yesterday. I have a largish decant from queen enabler clarissa. Musky iris patchouli. My nose did not detect chocolate or cardamom.
This morning, someone wished me a happy Friday, and then we looked at each other and laughed like lunatics. It’s been a long week!
To Undina in response to yesterday’s informal poll – wow, that was so unfair
Is this turning into an iris week for you?
Not intentionally but wouldn’t say no to iris week!
This has been an excruciating long week! You smell absolutely gorgeous ????
Thank you, lillyjo!
Based on your description, I need to try this pronto! I hope your week gets better!
Why yes you do…I will send you some.
You smell good! I should wear some iris tomorrow (I don’t have this one – so just a reminder that if you decide to do a split for it, I’m in 😉 ).
It was unfair! You can see that I still remember it decades later 🙂
Here’s a picture of my neighbor’s gardenia bush in bloom–note lots and lots of buds too. I’m thinking of picking one for my house…. Not sure! Some little kids picked all the oranges from her miniature orange tree and she got super-angry.
