Happy Almost Friday! What fragrance are you wearing?
Today I went with Chanel Sycomore, from my can't-stop vetiver collection.
Reminder: on 4/20 we're doing Can’t stop, won’t stop...wear a perfume from the most saturated category in your collection. Suggested by Coin-op.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Chanel Skeleton Boy-friend watches are $40,600 (left) and $51,400 (right). Cheers!
Wearing a leather from my vast collection ( at least 14 leathers off the top of my head)
Today, it is vintage Jolie Madam.
Birch leather, powder ad violets.
Waft on
Wow, that is quite a collection of leathers! I received a sample of Jolie Madam early in my perfume days, but I gave it away before I had time to play with it. I love leather, powder, and violets, so it’s definitely time to try it again. Waft on, indeed!

I may have a problem 🙂
???????????? Impressive!!! ????????????????????????
Awesome collection, Hannahmom!
That doesn’t sound like a problem, it sounds like a lovely collection!
You know, if’s a problem… i’d be more than happy to help you out by relieving you of about half of those! 😉
BWAHHH
Nope, but pop over to NS and I’ll happily hold a leather spritz party.
*cheekily wonders about any special boxes under the bed*
For real tho- WOW!
HAHAHAHHA
😀
A highly saturated category for me as well – I almost picked it this week but I went with ebay minis instead because I just HAD to try my new ones. I may use this as a shopping list! I recently got a little vial of birch tar essential oil and it has been interesting to try to pick that out of some of these vintages.
Ohh – where did you find the birch tar EO?
That sounds fascinating
Impressive and I’m jealous!
Nice! I have several of those: Cuir Cannage, Jolie Madame, Cuir de Lancome, Prada Cuir Ambre, Cuir Velours, Cuir Ottoman, Kelly Caleche, Mona do Orio Cuir, Odori Cuoio, Cuir Beluga, Boxeuses and Schwarzlose Leder are favourites.
Leather might be one of my most-saturated categories as well.
OMG – how did I forget my Lancome Cuir ?
Love Jolie Madame… it’s chilly outside again (SURPRISE YOU THOUGHT IT WAS SPRING DIDN’T YOU HA HA WRONG!) so that might be a good choice for me today too. And a green floral + leather, so it still fits my can’t-stop-won’t-stop of green florals.
Joing you in the love for vinty Jolie Madame. It is beautiful.
I’m wearing Mohur today. Spicy roses are my most saturated category, which surprises me because I could have sworn I didn’t care much for rose. ????
Now did you not even know it was your most saturated category until this project?
I didn’t think about it at all until this week. I don’t usually think about my collection as a whole. I usually just think about what I have a hankering for today and what’s on my to try or to buy lists right now. I know I love leathers, and I knew I had a couple of roses, but honestly, if asked, I would probably still say I don’t care much for rose, even though I have three roses in my top 5! Weird.
That is so interesting. I wonder if we’d all be surprised if we did more counting and sorting.
I definitely think there would be some surprises.
I do, too.
I’ll bet my most saturated category would be florals, which I think of myself as not wearing very often or having many of…
I know what you mean. I don’t like florals in general but have a collection of them.
I actually still don’t know 🙂 Mostly, because I’m not sure what to use as a category. Edwards’s Wheel? Then just by looking at it I think I like Green, Floral, Soft Floral, Soft Oriental, Woody Oriental, Woods and Aromatic – half of the wheel. But I can’t easily put it into numbers because Fragrantica uses slightly different classification, and my perfumes are recorded under those groups and subgroups that I see on that site. With notes that I like I tend NOT to buy them in all possible forms and implementations but rather look for the best ones… So for tomorrow I’ll probably just go with the brand that has the largest representation in my FB collection.
I’m in Sycomore as well. I’m always in search of new vetivers. I can’t get enough. Lol.
Have you tried the Le Labo Vetiver Oil? I couldn’t stand the EDP, but the oil is something else.
I have not. Thank you for the recommendation!
You both smell great!
Hey twin!
Seems like a Chanel kind of day. I picked Boy.
I’ll take one of each of the watches. Everyday and special event. ????
Oh perfect! And I’ll skip the 2 watches and take the house 😉
And I’ll take 2 new cars ????????
Mmmmm I love Boy. You smell polished and dapper!
I did see the picture before applying perfume today (hey, house twin!) but I did it on a small screen before I had my coffee – so I didn’t realize those were Chanel watches. But now I’m thinking that it might have been a subliminal message – and that’s why I suddenly felt like wearing Cuir de Russie?
Which is really the perfect Chanel Boy-Friend 🙂
Busy week at work with not enough time for frivolity.
I’ have been all about the vanilla for a while now.
Can’t stop/won’t stop with Xerjoff Lira today.
Also, what a watch!…but I could buy quite a few bottles of perfume w/ 50k and still have enough left over for a Chanel purse methinks…if for some reason I had to blow 50k on luxury goods quickly…a delightful prospect… 😉
Tell us your thoughts on Kira when you have a chance!
*Lira
Lira is yummy, a floral vanilla. I gave She-Ra her first fix and got her hooked. 🙂
Yes, indeed. 🙂
It is a sweet, lemony vanilla w/ some spice. It’s hard for me to pick out any individual notes…it’s well-blended and well done. Finished product is greater than the sum of its parts…not always the case w/ perfumes. 😉
I love Lira! <3
I am continuing my floral/oriental theme for this week’s project. I am in Un Air de Samsara – green floral (great for spring) with oriental Samsara sandalwood base.
Oh, I’m a recent convert to this one! I found a bottle at a discounter store and got to try it on. My nose was glued to my wrist. Naturally, I had to buy it.
Glad you like it too! It’s such an interesting version of Samsara.
Hmm I’m not much of a Samsara fan but this sounds nice.
The Samsara connection is there but very slight. It’s more of a summer floral.
I went with Covet today, from my Discontinued-therefore-cheap-(Buy-Two!)* Can’t Stop list. I adore Covet and it may be time to buy another bottle, honestly. I had a bottle when it first came out and it rocked my young world!
*This list includes Natori, A Scent, Bvlgari Black, and Jeux de Peau. Off the top of my head.
Discontinued, therefore cheap but still great! Love Bvlgari Black and Covet. Maybe I need to try Natori?
Natori is a lovely aldehydic floral with a touch of plum. It smells expensive and luxurious, but pretty modern. I adore it!
And the bottle is really lovely.
Oh yes. Natori is beautiful. Plum.
I feel like if a bigger brand had put it out, it would still be with us.
If you can find it, do try Natori.
Sniff before you buy the Natori – a friend and I went in on a blind buy and it smelled like cheap shaving soap on both of us. No plum – boo!
Wow, it’s all plum on me and smells much more expensive than it was. For me, Natori has a retro vibe, tons of aldehydes that lift the plumb and make it sparkle. Of course, I was around during 80s when aldehydic perfumes were the norm.
geez…plum
Wearing MFK Aqua Vitae Forte today from my (growing) citrus collection. Love the background of spice in this one = freshness + warmth.
Citrus was what led me into this hobby!
Holy cow, I covet those watches. At least I like the less expensive one more. Anyway, I chose Chanel 19 EDP today from my vast (well, sorta vast) collection of irises. Happy Friday Eve, everyone!
You smell lovely!
Sisters in No. 19 EdT! We smell gorgeous 😉
I’m wearing Omnia Coral today. Because I like it.
Good enough reason for anybody!
Getting ready to go on a hike, so will choose a quiet amber from my saturated collection of spicy orientals. Maybe Hermes Ambre Narguille? Have a great Thursday, y’all!
I spelled it wrong, forgive me. Ambre Narguile.
Yummy! Ambre Narguile sounds perfect for a hike on a cool morning.
I was lovely! Thanks, Tiffanie!
Continuing in roses with EL Knowing. I’m realizing I could probably go for months wearing only rose-dominant perfumes, I’ve got such a variety available especially if I include samples and decanted.
“decants”
You smell great! I have a client who smells so good in Knowing that I promised myself that I’d try it again next time I saw it.
Still going with my most saturated category: samples! I’m in Memo Kedu, thanks to Meredifay and the swapmeet. This started out a little too masculine, but is soft and lightly citrusy an hour into the wear.
So, I’m excited and a little worried. We went back to the plant nursery yesterday for another look, and I bought a sambac jasmine for the patio. I’m excited to have a fragrant thing on my patio, but scared I’ll kill it!
I’m convinced that herbs are like potato chips. It’s hard to have only a few. We also picked up lime balm, winter savory and lemon verbena. ????????
Samples as a category. Good one! ????
Yeah I have tons of samples. My last sample order is from almost 1,5 month ago and that is quite a long time for me. Haha.
They are so easy to drop into the basket! And before I know it, I’ve racked up significant dollars just in samples.
Latest excuse: I’m ‘researching’ in advance to prepare for the next splitmeet. ????
Yup…and each time a small amount if money is less painful than a whole bottle.
And even when I am kinda strapped for cash, I can still afford a handful of samples (say, in lieu of a good bottle of wine or steak for two that month haha).
Good point. I’ll bet most NST posters are talking about bottles when they talk about their “collection.” But I have many more samples–some that I just keep as a “library scent reference” and others where I can’t afford the bottle, but enjoy the sample. In fact, today’s SOTD, Aqua Vitae Forte, is from a manufacturer’s sample sent to me by a lovely NSTer.
And adding that I love herbs also and they’re usually quite easy to grow. Good luck with your jasmine.
You read my mind about the samples. The 31RC I’m wearing today is definitely a library scent reference sample, I know I’ll never buy a bottle, and that’s ok with me. 😉
Thanks, springpansy! I get a lot of mileage from my samples also. I actually need to do some digging – someone mentioned Olympic Orchids a few days ago. I totally forgot about some OO samples I ordered early last year, when I first swan dived into the rabbit hole.
Jasmine is pretty hardy, once it gets established it can grow like crazy. I love my jasmine vines. Hope you find the right garden spot for yours. 😀
Thanks, tiffanie! I’m not a huge fan of jasmine in perfume, but I think I’d like it in the wilds of my patio. ????
I love having tons of herbs too but can’t grow anything in a pot, it seems – I really wanted to have a collection of mints and scented geraniums. I’m embarrassed to say this, but I have managed to kill mint, which usually grows like a weed and needs to be contained. We even had a Rosemary bush that lived and thrived for years and then just croaked. Verbena grows into a large shrub and is hard to kill (since mine is still alive). I have also never managed to grow Basil anywhere in the yard or in a pot, ditto with dill and cilantro, but my sages (culinary and not) and oregano are thriving. Nonetheless, I’m fully planning on planting more mint (and work harder on snail killing. They are at least partially responsible here).
Yeah, plants in pots are difficult for me, too, since we’re in a subtropical climate. It’s hard to keep things watered in July/August/September.
Verbena as a shrub…that sounds wonderful! It’s so fragrant that it would be a pleasure to trim. I’ll have to rethink where I plant that one now.
And hey, I’ve also killed mint. My philosophy is…if it survives, it gets to stay, and I get to plant more of it!
for reference, our (leggy and woody, never trimmed properly) Verbena, which is maybe 7 years old or so, stands 6ft tall thought it’s not very wide. I can’t trim it now, because it’s finally got some leaves going…
I’ve never had a yard for planting, but have always had an extensive herb container garden. Some of them get diseases and die unexpectedly, but other than that I’ve been very successful with them. Most of what I grow is pretty hardy and winters over, which is more of a concern than drying out or getting too hot LOL. I’ve never been able to do dill, cilantro or parsley, since there’s not enough warmth or sun here (in Seattle.) I did grow them successfully when I lived in LA, though.
I’m surprised you aren’t successful with parsley since it’s an early spring, can handle cold weather herb. I have a raised bed right by the walkway to my house that I load with herbs every spring. Occassionally, the thyme will winter over but usually only chives and oregano. Come to think of it, the only time that I successfully grew parsley or basil in a pot, was when I used a huge pot and mixed the potting soil with sand and mulch in equal parts.
I bought a sambac jasmine 2 years ago and it survived the summer/early fall with minimal intervention. I didn’t move it indoors because one of my cats eats all plants, so it does. But the smell in the evening while sitting in the yard was glorious!
And I intentionally killed the mint that was growing in our dirt patch. That stuff just invaded and spread everywhere. Very tenacious roots!
I must admit, part of my decision to get the jasmine was to see if I can learn to like it better in fragrances. I hope it grows quickly; I bought a fairly small pot.
Ugh, mint can be so invasive. A friend of mine had mint growing in the tiny space between her concrete patio slab and her sliding glass door. Now that’s a determined little plant!
Totally understand how easy it is to go nuts planting herb gardens. ???? One year, we had 12 different things in various pots and planters on the patio. Most of what we plant will get killed off by winter weather, but the chives and the thyme usually come back.
your comment reminded me – wait a second, where did my chive go? I used to have a fairly big one! I think the sage ate it.
Yikes! That sage of yours sounds kinda scary, then! A plant cannibal.
Sage is pretty, for an herb, and it smells so good.
Lol, I know the sage of which you speak. Sage was the second to the last herb to perish in my herb garden at my old house. The last survivor was rosemary, of course. ????
SotD is Eau des Merveilles.
But I am craving something more exotic right now (it is almost end of my work day).
Must be the weather….we are getting lots of sunshine and a very relaxing 25 degrees (77 Fahrenheit). Summer is early 🙂 No complaints here, I love it!!!
And when I say exotic, I am thinking of (sub)tropical flowers, maybe with a hint of coconut or a little bit vanilla, or the incense from Buddhist temples, the smell of rainforest…
(Aarhh I think I need a holiday! Haha)
yay for EdM! Smelling great.
I’d like a holiday too but will have to made do with a little spritz of Terracotta le Parfum someday soon.
You wore it yesterday and you kinda inspired me to wear it haha….and yes those sprarkling first minutes…just one of the best opening phases ever in a perfume!
It would seem all of us, regardless of location, have been waiting a looonnngg time for a change of seasons and are ready to pretend it’s summer!
Winter 2017-2018 was not a winner in my book…it seemed extra dreadful and grey, with too much of the ‘wintry mix’ and only a few hours of sunshine. I really started to develop winter grumpiness and tiredness….
You smell wonderful in EdM!
Wearing Mitsouko today and loving every minute. It’s kind of strange that I have all of this vintage Mitsouko and I actually prefer the current version of Mitsouko. I do like oak moss but in Mitsouko, it’s almost too much.
Although I own the modern EDP, I’ve sampled the Parfum which is my favorite version. It’s really lovely.
I can’t stop and I won’t stop wearing Mortel. It has quickly become one of my favorites. For Friday I plan on wearing Diptyque, quite a number of bottles and counting..
Hope everyone has a good day.
Is that Cire Trudon Mortel?
It is!
Standing staring at the perfume this morning trying to work out what my most saturated category is. “It’s not pale florals” is about as far as I could get. My collection, even my favourites, are all OVER the wheel.
Category is: whatever the hell I damn please.
Today: Mitzah. Because it’s *always* a good day to wear Mitzah. It may be the warmest day of the year–summer temperatures! up at 20C!–but I’m stuck inside working and it’s cool and quite dark in here.
It is indeed always a good day for Mitzah
Mitzah is one of my absolute favorites!
ha! That is the Most Excellent of All Categories category.
I participate in your category almost every day of the year… Well, with some correction for the office environment and planned meetings for the day.
Love Mitzah but can wear it (and many other heavier ambers) only when it’s cold.
Guerlain. Not quite saturated but plenty. Baiser de Russie from a split. Me likey.
Yes, that’s about how I’d characterize my Guerlains: not quite saturated but plenty!
Good morning Y’all!
I’m in a haze of rice powder goodness (skin scent haze, anyway!) in Ego Facto Poopoo Pidoo. I love this one so much!
So pretty. You smell great!
i want to smell this! and do a betty boop thing when someone asks me what it is!
???? You gotta. It’s mandatory.
It’s only recently that I’ve realized how much I love iris, so I have very few. Better buy more! Today I’m wearing my favorite of what I have, Prada’s Infusion d’Iris. I most covet Purple Rain, and this would certainly be the month for it. The focus on notes has made for interesting reading and new thoughts. Grateful!
I love both of those iris scents too. I set out Infusion d’Iris EdT so I will remember to wear it this evening.
I like both. And many other iris perfumes. They all are so different – I can’t stop. I won’t stop 😉
Rushed, busy morning so went with my 2 most saturated categories: “grab-n-go”, and Rose’s with Kashan Rose. Easy, breezy, sof (aka office friendly), pretty, and refreshing for a grey, dreary day.
And where *is* Coin-op who donated the theme?! Hi Coin-op!
I’ve been wondering the same! Yoo-hoo, Coin-op!
So glad that you are enjoying KR. Coin-op went on vacation a few weeks ago. I’ve been wondering the same.
I think she may be away on vacation – Paris?
Wearing vintage No 19 EDP today, allergies be damned I’m going to wear (a)nother saturated perfume! Wafting loads of leather, vetiver, iris and galbanum. 🙂
House twins! You smell like you mean business. 😀
I do! Marching on towards Friday, that’s my mission!
Sisters in modern No. 19 EdT! We smell pretty great though 🙂
Thursday!
1) SOTD: Am in Fair Verona after showering with Rose Jam. I smell awesome, and am realizing I have quite a number of jasmine-y/White flower based scents (Joy, Jasmin(Molinard) Monoi (Carol Daughter), White Jasmine tea (Korres) ) All of these remind me of golden light, of sunshine, of summer, which is interesting since I do live in a climate which is damp and rainy for at least half the year.
2) And speaking of which- a couple of days of full sunshine! huzzah!
SotD = 31 Rue Cambon, dabbed from an almost empty sample vial.
I like to imagine it really does smell like the rooms in an expensive apartment flat in Paris, not that I would know, lol.
After years of sniffing around the edges, 31RC has come into focus. Bois des Iles is my next great white whale to chase. I have that sample sitting on my newly-tidied desk for later today.
Love that watch, though if given carte blanche I would choose the Première Camélia Skeleton in white gold with diamonds. Oooh la la!
Spent yesterday helping my mother and uncle clean out Grandad’s house, again, and we’re not finished. It’s like peeling an onion, layer upon layer, days and years of living. My grandad was minimalist and frugal in his lifestyle, and had more than 93 years to consider his mortality. Even so, we’ve found a few surprises and wish we could ask him some questions!
What a project! Good luck to you and your family. Do you feel like you’re getting to know your grandad on a deeper level or is it just bringing up more questions? It’s great that you have your mom and your uncle in it with you.
Also, you smell wonderful.
Thanks for the good wishes, lizbee!
The house clean out project has been a nice way to say goodbye to Grandad. We have wondered about many small things, like “why are there so many white hand towels?” and “where did this large polished half of a crystal geode come from?” I guess every life is both mystery and miracle. But I do feel like I know Grandad better now, so that’s healthy on an emotional level. And the physical work is good therapy, too.
I loved reading this comment. Thank you for sharing.
🙂 Thanks, Undina!
When we cleared out Dad’s stuff, we were AMAZED at the extent of his state quarter collection. Let’s just say that we held up the line at the TD Bank coin sorter and the bank decided to post a teller right by us as we kept filling up the quarter bags.
Thanks for the reminder! I need to stop by the credit union to use their coin sorter. I have an extremely heavy bag of Grandad’s change to haul out to my car tomorrow morning. Why people try to fill an empty Sparklett’s water cooler jug with coins is another of life’s great mysteries.
The white hand towels made me laugh. When you called your grandad a minimalist, it made me think of my husband, and while he doesn’t exactly collect white hand towels now, I can imagine that he might have a pretty good stash of them by age 93. ????
I’m still commando, but thinking I will go for Naja once I get it together. No plans today except to go on a hike with OOE.
The wine tour was great fun and I’m amazed I’m just a little slow this morning and not seriously hung over. A nice mix of people: 3 young gals from Australia, 2 40+ year best friends, a couple celebrating her birthday, and a “movie star” that I was totally clueless about, with his GF/wife, and moi. The 3 Aussie gals spotted the movie star right away but didn’t bring it up until the end of tour. Apparently he was the TV boyfriend of “Sabrina the teenage witch,” back in the 90’s. He was quite nice and even posed for photos with the gals. http://sabrinatheteenagewitch.wikia.com/wiki/Harvey_Kinkle
As far as wine is concerned, I learned a ton and can no longer consider myself totally ignorant about the subject. Now I’d guess I’m only partially ignorant! ???? I did spring for two bottle and will hang onto them for a special occasion.
If anyone swings by this area, I would really recommend a winery tour. ????
Glad you had fun and aren’t in too much pain today! 😉
Thanks for the update on your winery tour! Nicely done avoiding the hangover…
That wine tour sounds like a lot of fun!
Sounds great but what area is that?
Can’t stop won’t stop buying vintage minis at antique stores! Wearing Canoe today and glad for the community project because I really do like it but never reach for it.
Canoe will forever remind me of Woody Allen in Play It Again, Sam 😉
I’m continuing my week of Serge perfumes, my most saturated category, by wearing Datura Noir. It’s pretty powerful so I went light with the atomizer. Now I believe I smell pleasant not knock-you-down-with-my-sorceror-flower smell.
That is a perfect description of Datura Noir.
Ummm, maybe that sounded wrong. The “sorceror-flower” term is what resonated with me.
Wearing another floral today; Manoumalia, it suits the unseasonably hot weather we are having here. It’s wonderful, but it does feel rather strange.
Manoumalia is one of the oddest fragrances in my collection and I adore it. I was glad to see that it is still being made.
Oooo good to know! I remember liking that one, too. I sampled it ages ago — do you know if it’s undergone any reformulation?
No, I’m afraid I don’t. I can’t even remember when I got my bottle.
I adore Manoumalia! I used to live in Hawaii, and that perfume brings me right back.
Another vanilla today. I found a long forgotten decant of Micallef Note Vanillee. Someone mentioned it the other day, so figured I’d put some on. It seemed like it had aged – it is super dark and viscous, even oily. It is seriously boozy stuff.
That sounds wonderful! I think I might be aging he same way????????
Ha! It really is quite nice – sample if you can. I see it at Luckyscent ;)!
Love it! Me2
Lol
I see what you did there
SOTD is Edward Bess Genre, from my absolutely positively most saturated perfume category: Perfumes I Own And Don’t Wear Often Enough. Which would be nearly all of ’em. #toomanyperfumes
OMG I love Genre SOOOO much. You smell amazing.
Good call on the category! I have a lot in that category, too.
Also my biggest category. 🙂
Hahaha! YES. I sprayed that one the other day and it blew me away. If I wore it more often, I wonder, would the *so stunningly gorgeous I can’t even* response wear off?
That almost sounds like a weekly project: Most stunningly gorgeous perfume we’re afraid to wear too often.
Or:
What are we hoarding and not wearing?
I feel certain this has been done. ????
Can’t stop, won’t stop with iris. Bois d’Iris today (VCA). This stuff is so perfect to me. I hoard my little 5ml left in my decant until I get a FB.
Those VCAs can often be found on ebay at really good prices. Just sayin’…
And Fragrancenet has what you’re looking for 🙂
Sampling Note de Yuzu and samples is my category that I can’t stop acquiring. I have a serious sampling addiction. Too much bad weather and I start ordering ( little packages in the mail cheer me up)….So far I’ve only tried half the samples that I’ve gotten since January…..
I so, so hear you. I have two little boxes on their way to me now, and one has Note de Yuzu!
I’m on the hunt for the perfect yuzu fragrance.
Part of my shopping addiction is definitely due to the excitement of getting little packages in the mail!
A slight variation on theme – just spritzed on Cap Neroli as part of my “can’t stop, won’t stop” trying to find the perfect orange blossom scent for me. Since all my citrus trees are still in bloom, I will go outside and compare sniff in a second – the blossoms smell great from afar, but if you bury your nose in one (and anger some bees in the process), it’s actually not that great of a smell with a note of concrete or asphalt mixed in. Anyway. So far, Cap Neroli is perhaps a touch too dry to be the holy grail perfume, but it’s a welcome change from all the orange blossoms that are too sweet! But what’s up with that parsley note?
I enjoyed my Satsuma shower gel so much I decided to keep it going in Orange Sanguine. I like this one, but I think Clementine California is still my favorite of the orange-y Ateliers.
I love that one too. It’s so fresh and happy. I have a few of the 100 point bonus sprays from Sephora. I was going to offer them up at the swapmeet, but then thought, “Duh Nancy, you love this! Why swap it?!?”
I have one of those too! Saving it for summer . . .
I like (and wear) both but if I had to choose one… I wouldn’t! 🙂
My 5 year old son was in my closet this morning and I asked him if he wanted to help me pick a perfume. He was very enthusiastic about helping. I opened a few and let him sniff–he was indecisive and said “they all smell good.” So I asked him which bottles look cool. He picked up Shalimar PI and said “this one looks like a shield” and upon sniffing, said “oh yes, I REALLY like that one!!” So cute 🙂 And turns out this one fits both my #cantstopwontstop categories of powder and sale priced blind buys!
That’s so cute! When my youngest was little (he’s 18 now and off to college next fall) he once told me that my perfume (Chinatown) “smelled like happiness”. All these years later, I still think of him when I wear it.
Aw that’s awesome! I have never smelled Chinatown…sounds like I need to seek it out and try it!!
What a lovely memory association to have for a perfume.
That’s adorable! And he has broad tastes, it seems. Though they probably all smell like You, and I’m sure he loves that. Scent memories in the making…❤
🙂
I have to admit I get a little nervous that he’s going to tell his teachers or other people we know that “my Mommy has a HUGE drawer full of perfume bottles!! Lots and lots of perfume bottles!!” and I’ll be outed, but it’s worth it to experience them together 🙂
Haha! That would be embarrassing, but funny, I have to admit.
Chanel Cuir de Russie from my “can’t stop, won’t stop” category of … perfumes 🙂
I don’t think leather is dominant in my collection but I wanted to wear something that I don’t completely feel comfortable wearing to the office when a perfume-sensitive co-worker is in the office (not today 🙂 ).
One of my all-time favorites. You smell classy.
Thank you! It does smell classy, I agree.
Best category of all.
and oh, but you smell gorgeous.
Oh, thank you 🙂
Morning ratbags! I am wearing Eau Moheli which is my only ylang ylang perfume but it is from my biggest category ” curiosity about perfume notes and scents in nature leads to blind buy”. Yesterday my copy of Steffen Rctander’s Perfume Notes and Flavours arrived in the post and I spent the evening looking up plants . What a great reference .
I have had people staying the last 4 days and it’s nice to have the house back and quiet…and I get my bed back. I need to sort out that ‘ work from home’ situation better when people are here as I missed 4 days of work plus I also got to child mind my friend’s really cool ten year old while her mother had meetings at the university etc etc. The problem is I don’t have a study but just a kitchen table or a bedroom, and no guest bedroom so nowhere to go. Anyway…back to work now with renewed vigour!
I love Eau Moheli, but it lasts all of 15 minutes on me. Such a pity.
I had to google ratbags!! Excellent word, that will come in handy.
Got up to sunshine, was looking forward to a nice day, then it clouded over and started snowing again. (!). I went on a sniffing expedition to a local niche/fashion shop near my house with fellow NSTer Hera this morning and am wearing 10 different things. Later tonight I will spritz on some Botrytis.
Uh-oh. Local niche/fashion house in SD? Do tell.
Sorry, I’m in Montreal now. Should have specified!
Oh, duh. ???? I should have read more carefully. It certainly did not snow in SD today. It was sunny, and then it rained. Snow would have been quite a surprise. ????
I loved every minute of it, we should do it again.
Today in new Anatole Lebreton Cornaline. What a gorgeous and outgoing flower bouquet is hiding in that perfume!
…is it hiding under something? Maybe a bushel. Wonder what a bushel would smell like…
Haha, that could be interesting
Is it hiding underneath the carrot?? I really want to try this one but am skeptical about the color and the fact it has carrot….
Maybe… the carrot is there but not overly pronounced
I’m mildly curious but scared of peach since it rarely works for me.
I see but I think peach shouldn’t be an issue here
Spritzed Insolence early this SUNNY a.m. and it wasn’t quite what I wanted. I am interpreting this as a good sign – finally breaking my is-it-spring-is-it-winter-what-do-i-wear slump which has meant I’ve pretty much been rotating through the same 3 perfumes for the past 3 weeks. I’m clearly not meant to exercise perfume monogamy as it makes me feel nervous and unsettled LOL. I’ve since sprayed LPRN Black Perfecto over it and it’s not quite right either, but hey – at least it’s something new!
I suffered from momentary confusion this a.m. putting on a new lipstick and wondering why it smelled like LPRN. Erm, duh, it’s because it was one of the LPRN lipsticks and they smell like the perfume. The packaging is also quite adorable.
Now that it’s sunny it’s making me feel like I’m no longer jumping the gun in wanting to start my seasonal clothing switch-out. I’ve got lots and lots of heavy winter sweaters to launder and say goodbye to. See ya next year! *crosses fingers*
Hope you didn’t just invite Old Man Winter back to your locale!
Cool, grey, and occasional showers here today. Oddly enough, I don’t mind it this time. I guess the weather suits my mood today.
SOTD = Dame Earth Mother, from the sample stash, and a generous NSTer. I seem to have a fair number of patchouli or patch-heavy scents, mostly in sample form. Had anyone told me as a kid that I would like patchouli, I would have wrinkled my nose and said “No way!”
I really like patch scents. Quite a few of my perfumes have that note but not too many that have it as a main playa. It’s a hard note to wear in an office but I do love me some rough, earthy patchouli when I can get away with it. I haven’t smelled the one you’re wearing today.
I had to dig in my sample stash for that one, and I do have it. Apparently I used it, but cannot remember a thing about it.
I hope your week is getting better, even if just a little bit. ????
Thanks Nancy. It’s the nature of what I do. I have too much work and constant deadlines. They’ll have to hire two people to replace me when I’m gone.
Oops sorry..should have read closer before replying.
It sounds like a lot of people are having a rough time right now, which is unfortunate.
Earth Mother reads as a relative to TM Angel EdP, but spicier and less fruity. I definitely get the caramel and patch. YMMV of course.
Late again. SOTD was Lumiere Blanche.
SOTD: Penhaligon’s Blasted Bloom, to fortify me against what I expected would be a challenging day at work. Lo and behold — less challenging than I expected. The power of perfume.
Good to hear that perfume worked its magic for you today!
Try it again on another such day and let us know if you get a consistent result 😉
SOTD = Guerlain Shalimar … Mexique
Guerlain has a good showing in my collection. This one is so good I wore 7 sprays and did not gas out anyone.
Long shot – if anyone can spare a few mLs of the Madagascar version, I would love to swap with you.
Commuting Woes No. 423 and 424 or signs you may be addicted to your personal electronic device:
– Woman on the train this morning sitting 2 seats away from me was on a FaceTime call which she had on speaker from the time she got on to when she got off, a total of 15 minutes. Seriously? Since i had a pretty good vantage point to hear both sides of the conversation, it was just all nonsense blather.
– Guy with what looks like a soft cast with a fingerless glove at the end used that hand to hold on to the pole so that his other hand can be free to tap away on his electronic device. How stupid of him to use a limb that was injured and still healing and potentially subjecting it further injuries due to sudden jerks of the train.
Thank God it’s Friday tomorrow.
So late it’s barely worth commenting, but I wore another decant today. I wore Grand Chalet, one of my top linden perfumes.
Royal Oud by Creed from a sample.
I too have a won’t-stop vetiver collection and I approve your Sycomore as SOTD 🙂 such a gorgeous perfume!
