(With apologies to Tuesday fans), it's Monday's ugly little sister. What fragrance are you wearing?
I am still out of town, still commando, and drinking a latte.
Reminder: on 4/6, wear one of your "top 10 of spring" fragrances (unless it's fall where you are, in which case wear one of your "top 10 of fall" scents).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Jealous of your latte, Robin. Hope your day goes well.
I’m wearing Apres L’Ondee, the current EdT. Smells great to me. I know everyone mourns the parfum but the EdT is better than nothing.
Well, it’s going 😉
Latte is pretty good. You smell way better than me, though!
There are Tuesday fans??? 😉 SOTD is Pierre Guillaume’s Cuir d’Iris, which is showing more of its iris and less of its leather than usual today (not that that’s a bad thing). I know this doesn’t work on a lot of people, but I love it.
Well, I’m more of a Tuesday fan than a Monday fan anyway.
Me toooooo.
You smell great. I’m treasuring my sample of Cuir d’Iris.
There must be because I know some readers did not like my use of “monday’s ugly little sister”. This whole week so far is an ugly little sister of something, so letting off steam in little ways seems warranted 🙂
Hope all ends well and quickly
We’re pulling for you, Robin.
Sounds like it might be an ugly son of a…something…
Hang in there Robin!
Thank you all, things are indeed looking up. If the darned sun would just come out it would sure help.
You smell so good!
It is currently 32 and drizzly here, with a 100% chance of the dreaded “wintry mix” this afternoon. Ugh. Enough already.
SotD is Wit. I can at least smell like spring. I’ve never been a floral lover, but this one along with LaChasse are two that could possibly change my mind. It’s very pretty and really does smell like spring in a bottle.
I love Wit.
Joining you today in the beauteous Wit.
Trying to force our spring weather your way! Hang in there!
Wit is wonderful, so you smell very good.
I am sampling Zoologist Elephant, which I love! The leafy green part reminds me a lot of fig perfumes, but I like this more than I like most fig perfumes. It is VERY springy, which is hilarious because this morning it snowed in my face.
Have you tried Zoologist Hummingbird? A coworker was raving on about it this morning. I’m thinking this brand needs to be on my radar.
I need to delve into it also. I see so many wearing them or commenting on their scents and I love their names etc.
They do a nice sample set! I was not crazy about Hummingbird but loved Civet and Nightingale. My husband occasionally wears Rhinoceros which has really grown on me but is one of the most insane powerhouses I’ve ever smelled. And Macaque is great if you love galbanum (I do not)
Ohhh, galbanum! I’m all in on that one! Thanks Regina! 🙂
Regina +1 on Civet!! I am coveting my tiny remaining spritz from the decant! It is so nice!
Civet is wonderful, and also Bat. I’m eager to try the two new releases, including Hyrax and something else (???).
Wearing Aether Arts Perfumes Ginger Rose today.
I won this from Cafleurbon, and it is delightful. I will be repurchasing when I empty this bottle. Longevity is quite shocking, and as it is an oil, it doesn’t change much in a wearing, but when it smells this nice, you do not want it to change.
https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Aether-Arts-Perfume/Ginger-Rose-25089.html
That sounds really good! Tempting…
Uh oh… Rose, oil… the specter of an enabler pin on the horizon….
Wow ok, that does sound really good. Hrm.
Two of my favorite notes.
I am in Diorella, the current version.
And spring is here on this warm and sunny day.
Ah, that’s where spring is! It is not here, for sure.
Hang in there!
And though I suspect you may be too busy, just in case you simply forgot: damage poll. 😉
OMG. Yes. Totally forgot and have not even looked at my calendar. It will be tomorrow.
That’s fine. Thanks for answering!
In an oil dupe of Carnal Flower by Universal Perfumes & Cosmetics (Kuwait). I don’t know what kind of sorcery is afoot there but this stuff is faaaantastic! And strong! I couldn’t bear the thought of shelling out for another bottle of the real deal (my 3.4 ounce bottle is finally empty after 6 years of sporadic use), so I decided to give this a spin. My nose and wallet are extremely happy!
Love hearing about good dupes! Sounds like a good one. I bought a partial bottle for cheap, which will probably last me a while. Do they do Une Rose? That would be my dupe want.
Unfortunately, they only have dupes of the following Malles at the moment:
French Lover
Iris Poudre
Carnal Flower
Le Parfum de Therese
Lys Mediterranee
Monsieur
Noir Epice
Portrait of a Lady
…but are slowly adding more…
Hmmmmmm I don’t suppose you’ve tried the PoaL? I’d love to know if that one is a good dupe.
*ears perk up* Universal perfume from ebay??
Do they have other dupes in oil form?? Asking for a friend. 😉
I don’t know about their ebay presence but if they’re shipping from Kuwait, it’s the same company.
They have too many dupes to call out here, along with the authentic versions of scents long discontinued. You can use the search function on the site (google for link) and just scroll around. All the dupes are listed as ‘generic oils’ and are available in many different sizes; just calling that out so you’ll know what it is when you see the phrase.
lemlemlemlemlemmmmmmm
We’re singing the same tune! 🙂
SOTD Idylle Love Blossom. It’s probably a Spring, scent-wise, but I’ve been wearing for much of the winter because it has a certain powdery coziness, too.
I’m wearing Eau de Camille. Liking it a lot.
That one is so pretty!
going to wear Beige today, from a decant courtesy of a lovely NSTer. It is very pretty, and has lasted from my spray last night. My neighbor has a gardenia plant that is blooming. Wow the fragrance from the flowers is spectacular. Now I want to try the Chanel Gardenia. Safe blind buy?!
The Chanel Gardenia is well made and nice but not worth the money to my nose. I would rather go with getting Andy Tauer’s gardening.
I’ll second that Chanel Gardenia isn’t close to the smell of real gardenia and I would not recommend a blind buy. The closest I’ve found are Arquiste Boutonniere and Tom Ford Velvet Gardenia.
Thank you all!! I’ll look into the other suggestions.
I think Van Cleef & Arpels Gardenia Petale is a good ( true) wearable gardenia . Also Jour d’hermes gardenia is nice. I bought a Dame soliflore oil of Gardenia that was a very heavy interpretation of the flower…but it might be better if it comes in a spray form? I didn’t like the oil version, it was strong and kind of bossy.
I on the other hand love it! And it’s a nice price….
It’s a really good price. And great that you enjoy it.
Yeah, the Gardenia Petale is super fab.
Today I am really struggling..
Yesterday baby buddha was sick with vomit and last night at 3am woke up with a fever. Mr. L decided to stay home today and help me out…
My neighbor is going to make me a matcha latte in a few minutes, she bought a new powder and wants me to try it out.
I am commando at the moment.
Since the swap meet didn’t work out for me I was wondering if I could tempt anyone for a decant of Encens Mythique for some Chanel/Biologique Rechearche skincare samples?
Oh my. Hope the baby feels better soon (and nobody else gets sick)!
I hope the baby feels better soon. Glad you are getting some help today.
I am sorry your little one is sick. Feel better soon baby buddha. I hope the sickness doesn’t go around your house.
Hope the latte helps, and little buddha gets better soon!
Sending cuddles for baby Buddha.
Poor baby. I definitely feel your pain. I’m glad you have some help, it’s tough to handle a sick baby all day after a rough night.
I hope the baby buddha recovers quickly, and that everyone stays healthy. Take care of yourself!
Your neighbor sounds like a really sweet person.
Lovestosmellgood – email me at T F K 3 1 at yahoooodotcaum ( delete spaces and obvious misspellings) and we can get you some EM.
Hugs for baby buddha. When you have a moment, please remind me where you get your matcha. I thought I’d written it down but I cannot find it. :/
Everyone is taking naps today !
Glad your getting some nap time in! Hope the babe feels better soon.
Or, poor baby and poor you. I hope things improve very soon.
Drinking a latte made with cold brew coffee. I think I’m going to have to switch permanently to cold brew, on behalf of my stomach. Haven’t been troubled once by acid over the past five days, since I’ve been drinking cold brew instead of regular auto drip.
Changed out my winter fragrances for my spring ones yesterday, finally (with that 16-inch snow only a week in the rear view mirror), and the Hatbox of Current Rotation is crammed full. I think I have more spring fragrances than anything else – it probably comes of loving the greenies. I am luxuriating in Chamade today, an edt probably from the 1970s. Lovely.
In case you’re wondering, here’s a list of the Current Rotation:
Guerlain Chamade edt, possibly 1970s
Crown Perfumery Crown Bouquet
Jacomo Silences pdt, ca. 1980s
PdN Le Temps d’une Fete
Chanel No. 19 edt, gray/gold refillable container, probably 1980s
Chanel No. 19 edp, from the Duty Free in the Rome airport
Deneuve
Penhaligon’s Ostara
Penhaligon’s Violetta
Cuir de Lancome
Ralph Lauren Safari
Balmain Jolie Madame, vintage extrait mini
Tauer Carillon Pour un Ange 2ml sample (the second I bought, but I don’t feel like I need a full bottle since it took me 6 years to use up the first sample)
Diorissimo ca. 2006 tester
DelRae Amoureuse
DelRae Wit, courtesy of dear Waterdragon
Hermes Amazone mini, ca. 1990s
Parfum d’Hermes ca. 1999
I feel rich.
Great list ! I love the greenies also 🙂
You ARE rich! As rich as a sultan!
HaaHa!! Very cute!
Oooh, that’s one heck of a hatbox!
Nice lineup!
Another lover of Crown Bouquet! Have you tried Sarcanthus?
I haven’t tried that one, no. Crown Bouquet is this big old smack of galbanum and marigold with white florals and hyacinth, but man do I love the sweet wet green opening of it.
Shout out for Delrae’s Amoureuse – it’s a unique and beautiful scent, with major presence.
+1 baby! ????
Wow what a list!
I am wearing Safari right now. I got a small amount of what I estimate is vintage formulation in the swapmeet last year.
Its gorgeous!!!!
But now I am reading everywhere it has been reformulated not in a good way.
Argh. And the vintage FBs are so expensive. I think I am just going to buy all the perfume minis on ebay haha
Agreed. Cold brew is the absolute best (plus I manage to drink it with just a touch of cream and sweetener; I always want a lot more sweet and milk in regularly brewed coffee)
Such a lovely list!
Not sure if this will make you feel better or worse, but when caffeinated coffee was too acidic and caffeinated for my body to deal with, I switched to half-caf and then full decaf. Still coffee, still delicious. 😉
I went through my 2ml Tauer Carillon Pour un Ange sample much more quickly than you did and am happy to have another sample on board for this spring. Enjoy your greens!
I kind of got tired of needing caffeine to start the day, so I’ve been on 100% decaf (which does still have a small amount of caffeine) for five months now. It didn’t seem to help with the acid problem. Sigh.
Oh, really? My issues are more with caffeine than with acidity, I think. I guess that’s why the switch worked. Keep up with the cold brew then!
Getting old sucks so hard.
I’m in VCA Bois d’Iris from a lovely swap partner in the recent swap meet. I am head over heels for this iris. No ???? s here!
I am personally a fan of ???? but agree VCA BdI is a good choice if you don’t!
Oh I love that one SOOOOO much! You smell wonderful!
Superstitious by Frederic Malle
You smell Fabulous!
Thanks!
Your avatar is adorable!
Going to the Natural History museum downtown today. Wearing vintage Bal for it and some amber jewellery. I have forgotten how exhausting having out of town family can be. Especially when there are little kids involved.
I know what you mean. Try to get some alone time if possible – I know I need it when we have visitors. Maybe grab a solo coffee while everyone is checking out the exhibits?
Today I am wearing Lili Bermuda Paradise and drinking a chocolate smoothie.
SOTD: Samsara (vintage)
Bit the bullet and purchased a bottle on eBay, so worth it!
So ready for warm weather. Hoping my visit to CO next week = sunshine and warmth!
I’m visiting CO this weekend and see that they are currently predicting a 90% chance of rain/snow to greet me when I arrive on Friday. But after that, things look better!
It never ends!
Vintage Samsara and a visit to Colorado sound equally fabulous. Enjoy!
Pre shower and have remnants of Mortel on my wrist from yesterday (hello longevity!) and L’Ombre dans L’Eau edp and Smoke Show on my forearm from last night. The last two have all but disappeared so really impressed by Mortel.
Mortel doesn’t feel heavy, so I was also surprised by its staying power. I need to try it in warm weather since I really loved it when I tried it in summer, but not as much in winter. Too cool and dry maybe?
Oh Mortel is beautiful in warm weather. We recently had a couple of unusually warm spring days here and I wore Mortel and it was wonderful. My first incense fragrance and I can wear it in any season.
I was worried I had fallen out of love with it. It was the one that prompted me to get the coffret! Looking forward to trying it again in the heat.
We had a cold front move in overnight, and the cold and windy morning had me jonesing to break out my new 7.5 ml travel refill of Kilian’s Intoxicated, which I recently bought from someone on another site. I reached for it and spritzed a good spray on my neck, only to realize with a jolt that I’d accidentally picked up my travel refill of Flower of Immortality instead. ???? I really like FoI, but was not at all in the right mood to wear it today, and now I feel totally distracted by it and out of sorts this morning. Sigh.
I’ve done that. It throws you off for a while!
Yeah, it really does. 🙁
Ugh…hate it when my scent choice is out of sync with me. Must br worse if you didn’t conciously choose it 🙁
Tuesday!
1) Am in Vanille d’Iris, which is very good for a chilly spring morning !
2) Coffee, and a makeshift breakfast of an oatmeal cup and cheddar cheese. Bring this day ON.
I have a total fixation of cheese with coffee. I love a good bite of sharp cheddar or something with a sip of coffee!
They seem to go together! Soon, I will making batches of cold brew coffee, which would be great with sharp cheddar and fruit for mid morning second breakfast.
Today I’m going to have an endocardiogram ( or something similar to that spelling) and a stress test. Ugh…I am not allowed any thing to eat/drink and I’m hungry and have not had any diet coke since midnight ( OK, one half swallow around 9 am) I don’t know what is in diet coke that is so addicting. Its not just the caffeine, it’s some evil chemical that isn’t in other caffeinated soft drinks. Idk… Anyway I’m wearing No. 19 edp for the spring that isn’t here. I think I will switch to Casmir later though, because I need some cuddlefluff ☺
Hope the tests go well. A cuddlefluff sounds a very appropriate reward.
Thank you! Casmir is so comfy.
Thinking of you – I hope the tests go well, and that you enjoy that first Diet Coke after as much as the cuddlefluff.
Oh it will be the best diet coke ever!
Hoping everything turns out ok!
My husband has a liter+/day Pepsi Maxx (or whatever they renamed it-it’s diet, extra caffeine+ginseng) habit. He had to go for a colonoscopy a while back and it was torture for him.
It is torture. The withdrawal is very real.
Especially if you have a particular genetic profile, diet coke (caffeine + aspartame) helps keep your dopamine regulated — it essentially gives you a bolus of dopamine every time you take a sip. It is a serious addiction and I had a terrible time giving it up — it was definitely NOT just a caffeine addiction.
I’m not a soda drinker, but I’m curious: why do you have to give it up then if it’s helping with dopamine?
Well, I would say 2 things — one, diet soda is bad for you in other ways, and there are far better ways, nutritionally speaking, to keep your dopamine regulated. It is looking more and more like artificial sweeteners are bad for you in even more ways than people originally thought, because they mess with your insulin system by tasting sweet and then not providing calories.
And the other is that I don’t think it’s a good idea to outsource your dopamine regulation to any international corporation, right? Not dissing Coke in particular, just saying I don’t think it’s a sensible thing. I used to just about panic when my diet coke was running low.
Interesting, I will have to look more into this.
I hate going for any type of medical testing. Best of luck – thinking of you!
Hugs for your testing today! Hope you get that diet coke soon!
Hope your tests go well!
Good luck!
Hugs from all of us!
Hugs! I hope that all your testing went well today. ????
I hope the tests went well- and I send good health blessings your way. And word with what Robin is saying- I can give up coffee ( and have due to thyroid issues) and caffeinated tea, BUT boy oh boy Diet Coke was HARD.
Sotd is Heure Exquise
I saw the movie Divines yesterday on Netflix. A french movie. I really recommend it, its beautiful, funny and sad. And there is a small but noteworthy appearance of a bottle of perfume in it.
You smell gorgeous.
Thank you!
HE is one of my favourites but is it a spring summer fall or winter fragrance? Or any season?
To me its an ‘any season’, though I still need to try it in summer.
But I wear a lot of my fragrances year round, I only have a handful of fragrances I consider seasonal.
Ah!
I will look for that
I’m wearing Dityque Tam Dao plus Eau Duelle, both EDP.
FYI, zulily had a fair number of interesting perfumes and such today, beyond their usual department store fare.
Thanks for the PSA! And you smell great!
I’m ignoring that it’s Tuesday by spritzing in the sample of Lazy Sunday Morning by Replica. A pleasant scent. I think my sniffer can’t really do much more than determine if something is pleasant or not.
That’s really all you need to know!
Agree with kpaint. I can describe all day, but it all comes down to “I like or I don’t like”.
This is definitely a clean linen scent to me. Like everything around me, incliding me, is freshly washed.
Smelling divine in Bois des Iles edt. I have been wearing the edp since I got a large decant in the fall splitmeet, and rationing the last few drops of my nearly-drained edt decant. Thanks to the swapmeet I’ve got more edt and can wear it again. Heaven.
Off on a day of dr appts soon – eyes and mammaries. When I saw my eye dr 2 years ago I only had to wear reading glasses occasionally. Now I’m wearing them constantly. I am hoping I can get bifocal contacts this time around. I would really like to be able to see both my dinner food and my dining partner, if you please.
Ha! I’ll be needing progressives by the time my insurance will pay again (in 2 years). They recommend them this time, but I resisted. I can actually read fine without reading glasses, but have to take off my glasses if I’m wearing them. Good luck with the mammo! I just went to a new place for mammo+sono and they gave me results on the spot! That was a 1st.
Results on the spot! That is great! The 2 year wait to see the eye Dr has been a long one. My eyes started rapidly declining like a month after I saw him. I have my fingers crossed that there is a non-glasses bifocal option for me.
You really do smell divine!
A couple of years ago, I went with the monovision contact thing – one eye corrected for reading and one for distance. I thought I would absolutely hate it, but adjusted quickly and like it, for the most part. Not dealing with reading glasses is pretty wonderful.
From what I’ve heard there are other options these days, including self-adjusting contacts. *knock on wood*
Good luck with the Dr. appointments!
Hope things are still ok, Robin! I like Monday a lot less than Tuesday, I must say.
Iris Ganache today from a hand-me-down sample that makes me feel kind of warm and fuzzy (thinking of how it’s been passed down from one great NSTer to the next). It’s nice, but I’m afraid I don’t get the fuss. Just as well, eh? Money/stress over finding a discontinued item saved.
Aren’t disappointments great? ????
I am even luckier — IG does not work for me at all! It’s basically a scrubber.
And thank you!
I’m wearing Santal Massoia on a cold, clear day. I’m drinking Earl Grey tea because I’m visiting my parents and it’s a terrible pain in the behind to make coffee in this house. Oh well, I drink too much coffee so I can stand a break.
Going to the fancy mall for lunch with my folks and then I will do some sniffing. I’m not planning to buy anything, but if something amazing grabs my attention I can think about it and return tomorrow. (This is me trying to be mature and non-impulsive.)
Going to the fancy mall for lunch and then sniffing sounds like a great afternoon to me! Good luck being mature and non-impulsive!
The afternoon was lovely, although the mature and non-impulsive thing didn’t work. A travel spray of EB Floral’s Nick’s Sunflowers made it home with me. In my defense, I have extensively tested it. That’s my only defense.
I’m about to go pick up my mini of vintage no 19 and a bottle of SL bois et fruits from the PO Box. So my SCENTS of the day will be both.. one on each arm lol
Trying to elicit spring with Bombay Bling. Hope things are going ok Robin!
Thank you, and hope for both our sakes that the Bombay Bling works as intended!!
Micallef Vanille Orient today from a generous NSTer.
It is lovely but I smell some oud I think…which I used to like in moderation but lately have been off of. Is it true oud or just woods?…unsure. When does wood come into oud territory to the nose…?
To my nose, Oud = medicinal, bitter, band-aid-like. For me, the best Oud is one you can’t smell but lifts the other notes and provides body to an otherwise sheer fragrance.
SOTD is Eric Buterbaugh Apollo Hyacinth, probably the most spring-y scent I own. It’s spring here today, but the weather dudes say we have an ‘atmospheric river’ on the way, due to arrive by Friday. Translation: it’ll be pouring…. see-saw back to winter again.
Oh, that is so gorgeous!
(slight panic: wonder what I did with my decant? I just had it last weeeeek…)
(goes and starts throwing things around on the dresser. then the nightstand. Apollo, where are you?)
????
Ooh, you smell great.
It’s snowing again here today, so I am trying to make things more springlike for myself by wearing Frapin Esprit de Fleurs. This is very light on some people, but I am happy that it stays with me all day.
From an incredibly generous NSTer, I have spruced up my sweats and t-shirt (still living in my living-room with my convalescing son) with something called La Douceur de Siam, which I am enjoying very much. It would fit in well will Neela Vermeire’s line up–this one a tropical rose/champaca/spices blend. Really pretty.
Oooohh that sounds really lovely. I hope your son is on the mend.
Hope things are going well and you are having a good time enjoying each other’s company, perfume etc.
Hope your son’s convalescence is going well, and you yourself are feeling better now.
Oakland Fresca, I haven’t been posting a lot lately but you and your son have been in my thoughts. I’m glad to hear he’s recovering well.
NST people are wearing some lovely scents today. I chose Provence Sante Tilleul (Linden) from my new bottle. It’s so nice, pretty and springy and was only $30 including shipping!
OMG what a morning! Sheesh! Trying to recover from insanity with two large sprays of SL Vetiver Oriental. I’d like a full bottle of this.
I saw this on instagram the other day and I’m totally feeling it right now:
“99% of being an adult is looking for an adultier adult to do the adulting”
AMEN!
Yes, I want to speak to the Adult In Charge today, and give him/er a a piece of my mind!
I’ve only sniffed a wax sample of Vetiver Oriental but even that was really nice. I bet you smell awesome.
They sure don’t make adults like they used to. How is it that I’m this old and still so overwhelmed?
YES, please send me an adult, stat!
It sucks when people decide that YOU are the “adultier adult”, though!
Today’s SOTD is Annick Goutal’s Mon Parfum Cheri Par Camille, from a decant, a gorgeous iris/patchouli perfume.
My goal (this month) is to try to use up decants and partial bottles before breaking into a new bottle.
You smell great! I like your goal. In fact, I thought about it on my way to work today. It would take me longer than a month to do it though!
Thanks! I go through periods where I vacillate between getting rid of everything (75 bottles) and hoarding beautiful things we might never see again, or will be discontinued, reissued and the price tripled (stink eye to you, Guerlain).
I thought perhaps a short-term goal is a great way to start. 🙂
I am in No. 5 L’eau today. Gosh I love this one so much! Perfect for a warm, sunny day! And I totally agree with Robin that Tuesday is Monday’s ugly little sister. Ugh!
You smell lovely. I find that scent to be so pretty but relaxed.
Yesterday was sucha nice, cool day that I took my computer and a big thermos of coffee to the botanic gardens to work. I sat by a big quince tree that was laden with almost-ripe fruit…wondering if the fruit will get picked? After almost seven months since his bike crash Alex is finally allowed to start walking without crutches. Lots of physio but steady progress.
Wearing Cristalle.
I hope your week improves Robin and ends on a happier note.
You smell divine.
The fruit should be picked and offered to people who would make quince jelly or puddings. I’ve never eaten quince raw, but I bet it’s nice when it’s properly ripe.
Sounds like a gorgeous day. Cristalle is fabulous, no? Try it in your winter: it will move from fabulous to sublime.
So happy to hear hubby is progressing!
I missed a lot of news last year when my mom was ill, including apparently that your hubby had had an accident. (Knew he’d had surgery, but not why.) That must have been very frightening; glad he’s making good progress now.
Crisralle is gorgeous, glad you are taking this time to relax in the gardens
Thank you so much Kanuka!
Great news about Alex’s milestone! What a long haul that has been.
Hello, all. Yesterday I went to World and tried Upper Ten. I am happy to say it absolutely will not be a purchase. On me, it wasn’t richly interesting, just slightly sweet-sour, then grapey, then gone. Oh, and rather screech-y about the middle. My experience with UT further convinces me that I have bad skin for perfume. Too acidic, or too alkaline, or something. A scientist among us could probably tell me which: every red lippy I wear turns noticeably pink within minutes, not that I let that deter me from wearing them, but I do wonder whether that’s the reason certain perfumes go nasty on me. No matter— many are lovely on me. And one of the loveliest is my SOTD, Ambre Narguile, soft, buttery spices, apple, tobacco and amber. Heaven in a bottle.
Well, ordinary life resumes today, and a pile of assignments awaits my green marking pen, except that I mark on line these days. Also staffing, and the timetable for next year. And people everywhere, all the time. And something else that I dislike the idea of so much that I cannot recall it.
Heigh ho…it’s a simple life, but mine own. Be well, all.
Congrats on the UT; money saved! 🙂
And Ambre Narguile is so wonderful anyway. Hope it’s helping to smooth out ordinary life’s little bumps…
Red lippies go orange on me. Ewww. Sigh.
Yay on money saved with your latest scent fancy! I can’t help with the lipstick conundrum, though.
I’m wearing Aqua Allegoria Rosa Pop today. Haven’t been online much lately because I have some medical stuff going on. Went into the emergency room just over a week ago with what at the time looked like a small stroke, but it turned out I actually had a seizure, which I’d never had before. CT and MRI showed that I have a mass of some sort on the right side of my brain, and I have to have surgery to have it removed. I’m on track to have surgery next week. There are two possible bits of good news in this and those are: 1. the thing (I’m calling it Blobzilla) is relatively close to the surface, so the neurosurgeon is hopeful that he can get all of it, and 2. a body CT scan came back clear, so they think, whatever this is, that it originated where it is rather than being something that spread from elsewhere.
I’d managed to make it 38 years without ever having to have surgery, but I couldn’t just start off with something easy, could I? 😛
Oh my gosh, sweetgrass! I’m so sorry you are going through this and thanks for sharing this with us. I hope you’re holding up as well as one can and have support around you. Hoping for the best possible outcome for you, and, yes, those 2 factors are promising. Still scary AF, I imagine.
Sweetgrass, such news!! We will all be thinking of you and offering our prayers for you!!
sending all good wishes and thoughts your way, sweetgrass!
Sending good thoughts and wishes your way!
I’m so sorry to hear this. Sending good health wishes to you.
So sorry to hear you are going through this! Prayers for healing heading your way!!!
Thanks for all the well wishes, everybody. I really appreciate it.
I’ll be thinking of you and wishing you well. Goodness, what a fearsome introduction to surgery but it sounds like you are in good hands.
Wishing you all the best with the surgery and that you’ll be able to keep a sense of calm while you wait for the date; that must be hard.
Oh! I hope the surgery goes well and recovery is quick.
Wow Sweetlife…sending positive energy and virtual hugs and chocs your way.
Sweet grass, I am thinking of you and sending good vibes your way. Virtual hugs.
So sorry to read this sweetgrass. Sending virtual hugs and prayers for your recovery.
Fingers and toes crossed for the best possible outcome for you, sweetgrass!
Wishing you a full and speedy recovery. You’re in my thoughts!
Oh you poor thing! What a scary thing and a scary time you are going through— but good Thing for the bright side of it, on both counts. Hang in there!!
Sending positive and healing thoughts your way, sweetgrass!
That sounds so frightening, and I truly hope things will go well, and that you’ll please keep us posted.
You really did not start off easy! Stay strong sweetgrass, we are all rooting for you.
Best wishes & prayers Sweetgrass for an easy surgery and even easier recovery! Will keep you in my thoughts.

Have a great trip, sweetie!
In Arielle Shoshana on this lovely spring day here (but sprayed on what feels like too much and feeling a little bugged by all that loud passion fruit) – I’m working from home and not getting that much done. Heading to San Diego for a conference this weekend and been spending way too much time debating whether to simply use Uber (never really done that before) or rent a car so I can drive around my old neighborhood etc…
I feel like a nube – logically, Uber must be the better way to go, but I just don’t really feel like doing it.
If you can afford it, I would rent the car. Uber is great, but you’ll have more flexibility and you can sing loudly in the car without freaking anyone out.
Singing – had not thought of that!
CM8 if you log on today you should check out the update in APJ from Cookie Queen at A Bottled Rose 🙁
Hi Lillibet ???????? Where are you, CM? I haven’t seen you in ages????
Hi Cassieflower!
Good to see you 🙂
Robin, I hope that whatever is keeping you out of town gets resolved soon!
I’m totally hating on today’s drizzly weather. It’s cold, clammy, and gloomy. I would LOVE to send this wet stuff someplace where it would be appreciated, because I certainly do not care for it!
SOTD = Burberry Brit Rhythm for Women, from the sample stash. Color me very surprised and pleased with this one! Lavender and I don’t always get along, but this is so pretty. A great springtime scent, IMO.
I hope so too! And it is a shame that I am out of town in equally yuck weather. Why can’t I be out of town in Hawaii??
And yes, isn’t that one a surprise? I am still hoping I come across a cheap bottle somewhere, it makes a great no-brainer.
I did a little “non-serious” poking around on the Internet for a cheap, small-ish bottle earlier today. I think BBR for Women might be discontinued already, since I never see it anywhere IRL.
Would not surprise me if it was already gone. And don’t think they should have done it as a Brit flanker.
Marshall’s had a bunch of them and I think I’ve seen them in several sizes.
Wearing Bottega Veneta EdP for a sunny autumn day today.
Gorgeous scent anytime of the year, IMO. 🙂
SOTD is Equistrius. Not sure why it feels like a spring scent but that is how I see it.
SOTD = Aftelier Cuir de Gardenia
W00t. This is spring in a bottle as it evokes waking up to something.
Tomorrow and for the following days, i will likely be wearing No.19. I need spine strengthening!
Would you mind wearing an extra spritz for me tomorrow?
I will. Is it oral surgery day? I wish you well!
Thanks!
Yep, tomorrow’s the day. I expect to be sore and a little cranky when it is over.
I am totally late to the party today because my day was so busy, starting off with a check-up visit to my hip surgeon, following upon my dislocation a week and a half ago. Things look pretty good but I still must be quite careful and do no exercise, even have limited walking, for 4 more weeks to allow healing of torn muscles. I have some upcoming trips for conferences and he was NOT enthusiastic about my flying, especially to Europe, but ultimately conceded it would be OK if I’m very very careful. I really do hope things go OK. Anyway, today I wore something from a sample, The Different Company Le 15. It is pleasant, though strikes me as something falling more into the cologne category with the strong emphasis on citrus notes (bergamot), and it’s so light. Perhaps if I could spray more on at will I’d get more of the incense notes. Meanwhile my house which is full now not only of my own (multiple) cats but of (a) four visitor cats from a friend who’s having house repairs done and (b) Meow Kitty, my newly adopted senior cat, is also quite full of cat interactions and adventures, though it’s gone much more smoothly than I ever anticipated. Little Julia the tortie escaped from a balcony and I found her hiding in a neighbour’s garage under their old car and meowing loudly at me for rescue. I had to recruit two other neighbours to help me shoo her out from there and into my arms because I’m just not allowed to get down on the ground and bend way over to catch stray kitties. Whew! Life is exciting! All for now.
Wow, that is a lot of cats for someone who is supposed to be taking it easy and healing! Very good luck, hope you can make your trips without incident.
Take care! Hope your kitties and visitor kitties are all keeping out from under your feet!
Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir today …just doing the limbo under the 12am deadline to make the sotD deadline.
My 1st wearing and it’s really lovely. The neroli is strong enough on my skin to be noticed, it’s clean, alittle vanillic right after the open and I will wear this a few times to get to know it better!
Eh…I’m always a day late posting from Australia anyway. You smell great 🙂
