Friday! Our community project for today: we're celebrating this week's equinox by choosing a fragrance that evokes one of Pantone's colors from the Spring 2018 report for New York.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in The Different Company De Bachmakov to match Almost Mauve (and the weather).
Reminder: on 3/30, to honor Women's History Month, wear a fragrance by perfumer Germaine Cellier or Josephine Catapano, if you have one. If you don't, wear a fragrance by any female perfumer.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
I can pair meadowlark with Heure Exquise. Have a great day NST!
Heure Exquise is more of a pale lavender-blue for me, and am also wearing it, if for a different reason.
You smell fab!
You smell soooooooo good! Heure Exquise is one of my favs!
Oh, I should have remembered I have some of that around! Smelling gorgeous today.
Chanel 5 premier, I think this is an almost mauve scent for me. Really could be anything, I think of it as background scent as so many people wear number 5 it is in the background of our lives.
Twins!
Ooh, De Bachmakov is a great match for Almost Mauve! I have a small decant of that, but didn’t even think of that one when I was picking a match for Almost Mauve….I went with Kilian’s Flower of Immortality. It’s a favorite for spring, and is all soft peach, with whispers of powdery iris and rooty carrot seed. In my head, I see peach blossoms when I wear it, however, which is why I mentally match it to Almost Mauve.
HAGW, everyone!
That Kilian sounds fascinating!! Peach with iris?? Are you the one who said something in the swapmeet wishlist that you like stone fruit fragrances? I’d not seen that description before and it made me realize it’s an interest of mine too.
I think someone else gave me the idea earlier this week so I won’t take credit! Your choice is perfect.
Mugler A*Men Ultra Zest, which is in a screaming-orange bottle nothing like any of the Pantones but it spoke to me this morning, and what it was saying was, “I’d be really fun to wear today!” It was right, too. A big dose of orange peel layered atop the usual A*Men gourmandise.
Great choice. Citrus zest on blast.
I can’t believe I still haven’t tried that one!
Ostara today, to represent Meadowlark. I’m so sad this one is discontinued, though I do have a back-up. Glorious narcissus! I think Chamade dull reigns supreme but Ostara always makes me smile.
Ostara brightening my day, as well, Coumarin. I wear it about half the time in March, ever since I smelled the daffodils in Green Park in London one April Fool’s Day.
It’s so lovely. 🙂
Ostara is really beautiful. I’m sad and totally baffled by its discontinuation. You smell wonderful.
If I remember correctly, a key ingredient was either heavily regulated or suddenly hard to source. I don’t think it was due to sales.
Ah. That makes more sense. It gets so much love.
Twins! I wore Ostara yesterday as well, and, just like you, was sad over its discontinuation (I only have a decant). On a whim, I checked out the discounters and wound up buying a reasonably priced bottle. Friday morning enabling!
I’m glad I bought my bottles for sure. They’re too affordable right now to pass up.
I stupidly didn’t bring my travel size with me. Dang! After days of gloom, the sun is out. Would be lovely to wear today.
Wearing Orlov Cross of Asia to go with Meadowlark
I had a sample of that once. You smell terrific!
I’m back in Cacao Azteque, despite my promises to play with spoils from the swapmeet today. I also baked some banana bread this morning, and the combination of scents in my kitchen is really comforting and cozy.
I baked banana and sultana bread yesterday!
That sounds delicious. I’ve never tried that combination. I’ll have to remember it next time my bananas overripen. ????
It was cold, grey and miserable this morning, so I grabbed POAL, and it’s a pretty perfect match for ‘Chilli Oil’I think.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a Meadow lark day, no.22, Cristalle edt, Ostara or L’Temps d’une Fete..
You smell beautiful and rich! (An SA told me that one of her friends told her she smelled “like a rich lady” in POAL. That has stayed with me since. ????) I almost went with POAL this morning, too. But I wasn’t quite up for the muchness of it. I hope it gives your day a touch of fabulousness, despite the weather.
I was almost POAL twins too! Funny how we were gravitating to that one.
Oh, that’s a good match, and you smell great!
Great perfume! You smell “like a rich lady” :)))
Maybe I should wear it tonight?..
Happy FriYAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was going to go with Insolence EdP for ultraviolet, but I just couldn’t do it today. I have to be in a certain mood for Insolence.
Sooooooo, back in Chanel No 5 Eau Première, because it got me thru a long day yesterday, and will get me thru a longer day today!
Have a great weekend everyone!
I know what you mean about Insolence- it’s fabulous on the right day but otherwise too much.
I think you smell great in Eau Premiere, Jada!
I got your back! Insolence EdP from a sample for me today. So, I’m covering the Ultra Violet.
Excellent! I will spray a wee bit tonight when I get home, in time for bed! Ultraviolet juice in that pretty Guerlain bottle! 🙂
Aha, I knew you were the originator of FriYAY! I can’t wait to get through this day.
Nice match! And your SOTD is lovely—hope it helps makes your day a true FriYAY!
I think you get an enabler pin from me for Fat Electrician. I saw a few 1 oz bottles on Sephora recently, and pounced on one. I’m not letting it get away this time!
Isn’t it GORGEOUS???????? Just sooooooo good!!!!
Hello my lovely perfume homies! It’s been too long. Hope you’re all doing really well.
I happened to go to Bloomingdales yesterday to feed my newly-acquired, Italy-inspired espresso addiction at their Nespresso boutique, and while there, I strolled through the beauty floor (as one must do) to check out what they had. I have been slowly dipping back into scent again since my post-2016 slump, and I came across the first thing that’s really moved me in ages – this symphonic floral by Lancome – Jasmins Marizpane.
Absolutely beautiful. And I am not generally a symphonic floral kind of girl, but this was just gorgeous. Gorgeous enough that I needed to come over here and tell you guys about it.
I’m wearing some osmanthus scented lotion today, and lately have been wearing a lot of Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black after purchasing my second bottle (second time doing that ever, aside from Feminite du Bois), so I know that this love is real.
Again, I really hope you’re all well. Good to see so many familiar names here 🙂
Hi and good to see you! You smell wonderful. Please tell us the name of your Osmanthus-scented lotion!
Hi Springpansy! This lotion is from Acqua di Stresa, and I got it when I was with Thegoddessrena and Hajusuuri a few years ago when Henri Bendel was selling off everything that wasn’t HB brand at 40%. It’s not hugely moisturizing but nicely scented, to the point where people who pass by my desk ask me what I’m wearing. Nice, pretty and easy. It was very discounted, otherwise I don’t think I would have bought it, but it’s been a lovely way to start getting back into scent.
Welcome back! Good to see you!
Hello dear Missionista! We should arrange another NY get together soon – I miss seeing you guys!
Let me know when. I’m currently living in Staten Island for at least another month but will probably be moving back to Boston sometime in May to prep for my wedding in June (squeeee!)
Wait girl whaaaaaaaaat?
I am SO behind!!
well dang! I was born and raised on Staten Island!
Hello there! Welcome back! Always enjoy your posts!
I need to find the Lancome luxury scents in my area and give ’em a sniff….they get lots of love on YouTube and such!
I saw them at either the Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales at Lennox Square.
Awesome! I don’t get into “town” much, but I do have a week off coming up…maybe a field trip is in order!
Thanks! 🙂
Hello lovely Jada! So good to see your happy face. Do go sniff when you get a chance and tell me what you think!
So nice to see you! Your lotion sounds wonderful.
And here, if you didn’t get a bottle yesterday, you can keep an eye out for this:
https://nstperfume.com/2018/03/19/the-daily-lemming-342/
Lovely to see you too Robin!
And thanks for the enabling 🙂 That size would be perfect!
Welcome back! I have Jasmins Marzipane and love it. I believe it was done by Dominique Ropion. I buy mine at Nordstroms.
Hi Cazaubon!
Yes, I saw that, which is why I picked it up in the first place – a name like that and I need to have a sniff. I am not a white floral person, nor do I like almond, and yet – this thing is just pretty as all get out. Congrats on your bottle!
Well helloooo there, stranger!
Hello there friend! Greetings to you, the husband and les kitties!
…waving…
Hellooooo! How are you? How are the little people??
Nice to see you!
Hi Sapphire! Lovely to see you too!
Hi there, sweet girl! Nice to see you. Will have to check out that Lancôme, since I am fond of florals.
Do you have a particular Nespresso blend you like? We don’t use ours too often, but it’s nice that my husband and I can satisfy our own individual tastes.
Oh…and I’d be up for a get together once I’m back in mid April.
Hope you’re enjoying wherever you’re traveling!
Hello LizzieB! Hope you’ve been well! And yes, check it out – not remotely my usual style, but maaaan she pretty.
Re: Nespresso – I’m still discovering! I literally hadn’t ever had coffee in my life before going to Italy in late February/early March, and things escalated quickly. I got home, started buying lattes every day, and my sister (never previously an enabler) sent me a link to a Nespresso machine that was on sale, and in a weak moment I ordered it. Thus far, I seem to like the Indriya (a single source one from India) but I’m making my way through my variety pack…will report back!
Welcome back! I just got a sample of this one from cazaubon that I’m looking forward to trying 🙂
Hi Koyel! I hope you’ll love it. Again, I am not a white floral person but it’s just so pretty.
Adding to my “to sniff” list! ????
Hi! So nice to see you again!
I’ve really wanted to give those newer Lancômes a sniff. Must double-check my local department stores…
Nice to hear from you!
Glad to see you again! 🙂
I know you !!! ????????????????????
HUGS
Nice to see you again, ihadanidea, it *has* been too long! You smell lovely, as always. 🙂
I’m wearing Batucada, to match Lime Punch.
Ah, perfect!
Wearing Tom Ford F* Fabulous from a very generous NST’er from the swapmeet. Really, really good! It is all about Tonka! If black were one of the pantone options I would mix it with Almost Mauve to match it with Fabulous.
Super crazy, busy day, but TGIF!
Nice. I will have to give this another try. It smelled very artificial on me. Hope I kept the sample. ????
I get something artificial, plastic on it as well, but it does not bother me much. I like it wears close to the skin, but it is long lasting. NIce and pleasant.
Well, that’s my problem with it. It IS pleasant and pretty, but with a name like F**g Fabulous, I expected a bit more!
I completely agree with you Koyel. With the name and the PRICE it is supposed to be fabulous, spectacular, beautiful. But with that money I can buy another perfume that I am really in love with it. Not full bottle worth in my opinion.
Tonka sounds pretty good to me, but plastic doesn’t. That’s a deal breaker for me. Sounds like I can say “Money saved!”
I love tonka and FF is a good one, however there is something that in my opinion is kind of not natural. If you have a chance give it a try, but there are better good tonka perfumes out there.
Vintage No. 19 Parfum today. I smell gorgeous, LOL.
Not sure what colour is No. 19. Lime Punch?
You do smell gorgeous!
I don’t thin there is a match to No 19 in the current color set, but you smell fabulous!
I matched the EDP to Lime Punch!
Pairing L’Air du Desert Marocain with Pantone Emperador.
You smell great today!
Perfect!
I’m continuing my exploration from recent split/swapmeets and thanks to hajusuuri am finally trying Mohur Extrait — which I’m matching to Emperador. Which if you’d described the notes to me before I smelled it, I would have been surprised to match it to. But there you go, that’s what my intuition is saying. I’m still in the first 10 minutes of Mohur Ex. but it’s everything hajusuuri has said. This is going to be a fun day.
You smell like heaven! (Wait a minute, did I miss a Mohur Extrait split???? ???? ????????????????????????????????????????????????)
No, not a recent one that I’m aware of. It’s just that hajusuuri is very very kind! We both got in on each other’s splits and turned it into a swap instead, and I asked her about the Mohur, and… I am in heaven!
And, based on my morning with this extrait, I am going to go out on a limb and predict that, errr, someone 🙂 may be hosting a split of this the next time splitmeet comes around!
Sign me up! ????
Heavenly is right! Love Mohur but hoarding my decant.
W00t! Emperador is perfect.
I couldn’t quite match anything in my collection to the colors on display. Ombree dans L’eau came close to meadowlark and lime punch, but not quite right. Vetiver Tonka came close to Emperador, but again, not quite right.
So I gave up entirely, and am wearing Jasmine de Provence because I love it. 🙂
You get an enabler pin. My JdP arrived from ebay, and all I have to say is THANK YOU! 🙂
Woohoo! I think that’s my first enabler pin! I’m so pleased you are enjoying the perfume.
Gaiac 10 to match with Warm Sand. Lately I have been drawn to woody fragrances…Molecule 01, Tam Dao, Féminité du Bois. If you have a favorite I should try, let me know!
Heading into a long work weekend and determined to use the last of my little decant and move on. This one did not rock my world, and at this price I’m kind of glad.
Happy Friday and for those of you with the weekend off-enjoy!!
I have a sample of Satellite Padparadscha – do you know it? When I tried it, I described it in my notes as a “quiet, dry, woody center over amber with a bit of Christmas pine”. I can send it to you if you’re interested.
Kerosene Wood Haven is quite nice.
Pairing Ostara with meadowlark today. As I mentioned above, I wore this yesterday and wound up snagging a bottle from a discounter. I love the daffodil note of course, but I also love the musky note in the drydown – I’m often anosmic to musk but I can really smell this one.
Enjoy your discounter deal! That reminds me that I should go order a few things I’ve been eyeing before our furnace weather sets in…
Argh, it will be here soon. I usually order myself something for Mother’s Day, then no more perfume til October. At least it keeps my spending in check . . .
Congratulations on your new bottle! Ostara is such a sunny perfume. Enjoy it!
Dabbing on some CBIHP Lipstick accord, which feels like “Pink Lavender” to me. Happy Friday, friends!
That sounds like a fun scent to wear!
Haven’t heard of that one – adding to my lipstick list !????????
SOTD is Bois des Iles, which has always seemed to me a rich brown like Emperador.
Beautiful!
You smell wonderful!
SOTD is Teo Cabanel “Oha”.
Top: bergamot and tea;
Mid: rose, jasmine and cardamom;
Base: vanilla, tonka, iris, woodsy notes and musk.
Colourwise, I think I’d match this to Cherry Tomato. (This is a colour-only match; there’s nothing tomatolike about the scent, tomato-lovers).
Breakfast was a homemade egg McMuffin with whole wheat English muffin, Canadian bacon, sharp white cheddar cheese, sprinkled with a little French 4 spice from Penzeys. Taylor’s Scottish breakfast tea to drink. ☕️
No color pairings for me today; I’m in Aftelier Ancient Resins oil on the left hand and Etro Shaal Nur on the right. Oh, dear, these are both lovely and FB worthy. ❤️
Happy Friday, everyone!
Your breakfast sounds delicious and you’re making me hungry! All I have to look forward to in the next couple of hours is some trail mix form Costco (and the cashews in it are off half the time – I’m starting to feel like Will Ferrel testing those toys in Elf when I bite into one).
Oh, no, cashew roulette! I hope your lunch is better than your snack! Sending a virtual homemade bkfst sandwich your way. ????
I first read it as you were looking forward to TAIL mix ????
Two of my favorite scents. You smell wonderful today.
Gracias! I have Elisa P and the swapmeet to thank for these lovelies.
Glad you likey!
Can you pass me some of your breakfast!
Absolutely, dear. Sending a virtual healthy sandwich your way! ????
Yum! And you smell so good!!
Thanks, ma’am!
Both your breakfast and your SOTDs sound great! Shaal Nur is on my FB wishlist.
It may very well make my list as well.
I was planning on La Religuese to pair with UltraViolet BUT my pkg from the Hajusuuri arrived (THANKS H!) so I thought I’d try F’ing Fabulous from Tom Ford – just opening now, was kinda play-doh’ish so I am NOT convinced that it IS Fabulous (no matter HOW anyone spells it….) but it is changing now into a greener/sharper leather…..for now I am sticking with pairing it to Almost Mauve but could be convinced that it is more Blooming Dahlia…..
More is more with this one, just sayin’
I’m wearing FM Lumière Noir Femme today- rich and warm enough for the cold weather we’re still having, but the beautiful narcissus note reminds me it’s spring. (Unfortunately scent and color have little to no correlation to my mind so I haven’t been able to participate in the project this week.)
You smell great!
SotM = Osmanthe Yunnan (left wrist) + Rose Ikebana (right wrist)
Hermessences, day 4, and I’m so glad I tried these two again after last wearing them many moons ago. I did not enjoy them very much back then. Today both are blooming nicely and feel optimistic, perfect for a Friday morning.
The smell of perfume often summons colors to my mind so I have really enjoyed the color matches. Rose Ikebana reminds me of the scent of the pinkish-lavender roses many gardeners grow. Blooming Dahlia reminds me of the delicate apricot color of some osmanthus flowers.
Ahh, you smell lovely, springy and fresh! Happy Friday to you.
Both of these are lovely – I probably like Rose Ikebana just a tad more. Hermessences are almost always likes for me.
I think I have a tube sample of both of these. I’d commit to trying them this evening, but right now, I’m a swapmeet…..SQUIRREL!!!
thanks! OY and RI are very pastel perfumes, so I do feel springy today.
Glad they’re going nicely for you this time! I happened to give Rose Ikebana a test run yesterday. Alas, as lovely as they are, most of the JCE scents really don’t seem to work on me.
Try, try, try again. You never know. I blame JCE for many perfume sins, both past and present. 😀
Rose Ikebana wears so nicely in summer! I’m glad you revisited it.
Agree! The warmer temperatures may be a key to enjoying florals from Hermes.
In Idylle Love Blossom from the swapmeet (thanks Elisa!) and I find none of the colors a perfect match – perhaps almost mauve, because it’s light, but then again it’s also very pink, very young – to me, more bubblegum pink than muted. Happy Friday!
It smells pink lavender to me. Anyway, I think you smell lovely, of course ????
Have you considered the Duet (jasmine/lilac) version of this or smelled it? I got curious.
I haven’t smelled (or considered), partly because people said it was close to the Idylle EDT (which I haven’t smelled either). I am curious about the Eau Sublime though.
I am in Glossier You… definitely Pantone color Almost Mauve: “With its gentle petal like touch, delicate and ephemeral [Glossier You] adds a sense of nostalgia to the spring 2018 palette.” In fact, GY is so ephemeral, I might be anosmic to many of its notes. To me it is the scent of clean skin, but more so and with a hint flowers—but just a hint. The notes are musk, powder, and iris. This is not terribly powdery to my nose…and I can’t pick out iris especially. A floral musk.
I don’t need to try it, do I? (A rhetorical question really, I can tell from your description that I don’t)
Lots of us in Almost Mauve today!
Are you wearing the spray or the solid perfume version?
Spray. My decant is from Scentbird. Have you tried it? What was your experience?
I haven’t, but I’d like to hear more about the solid’s scent compared to the spray.
I’m wearing Wood Sage and Sea Salt. To me, this is the color of Almost Mauve. Must be the bleached wood.
Have an awesome Friday!
You smell wonderful!
You smell great!
I am celebtating slightly warmer weather with SL Bois de Violette. I would match it to the Ultra Violet pantone.
KellyC, please email me at l lombardi
Under score 4 2 at the hawt male.
I am doing so right now! Sorry I didn’t get around to it yesterday!
You smell fab!
I am wearing Chanel No.5 vintage edc.
I have a busy day ahead, enjoying the calm before the storm.
I read this article about D.S. & Durga on Garance Dore, does anyone know this brand? the perfumes sound intriguing and the photography was gorgeous.
I have tried a few, they are interesting.
I think they’ve done some interesting scents too. Lately they’ve seen less interesting (the newer ones, I mean) but don’t know if it is me or them that has changed 🙂
I’m wearing Aura today. I decided to match it with blooming dalia, because they both have cool sounding names. Lol! Anyway, while literally chasing after my daughter in the mall last night, was running past Macy’s fragrance counter, and out of the corner of my eye, spotted Alien future flora, or whatever it’s called. Stopped and doused myself. Man, was I disappointed. It was SO CLEAN! I didn’t get any Alien vibe until the very end. I will give it another try, but most likely, money saved.
Thanks for the report on Flora Futura. More money saved!
Yeah… it didn’t smell bad, just boring. I have not loved all the flankers, but I think most of them have been interesting.
A boring Mugler perfume???? I wouldn’t have thought it possible.
Well, like I said, I will try again, but on initial smell, frankly I was crushed ????
Robin you smell good. I get the same color association from de Bachmakov.
SOTD – Epine de Mortele. Do t think I can associate it to any of the color choices 🙁
Hey, from the description of that one you smell fantastic too! I should try it.
Hermes Galop and drinking a cup of Mariage Freres Casablanca tea.
I think Galop would pair with the Chili Oil color.
Happy Friday!
Love your tea and perfume combination!
MF is my favorite tea house
Oh, yes, I agree on the Chili Oil match! And you smell great!
Oooh Galop! You smell delightful!
I chose Frederic Malle Monsieur because my decant is quickly evaporating and my coworker is out sick today. I knew ahead of time, so I came ready to stink up the place. This is probably one of my favorite patchouli scents. It’s a pretty hit or miss note for me. Oh, and I’ll pair it with either Chili Oil or Emperador.
Nice!
Meadowlark seems to be the popular choice today and I’m joining in. Jardin de Monsieur Li – Meadowlark matches the bottle color almost exactly, and close enough on the scent. Happy Friday everyone!
Yep, good call!
SOT(cold, rainy, windy!)D is Safran Troublant. Warm and cozy!
Happy National Puppy Day on top of Happy Weekend to all. Go find a wagging tail to watch- it will make you smile, guaranteed! ????
I will give my dog an extra treat today—she makes me smile every day!
Awww! It’s amazing how they can lift your spirits????
National Puppy Day calls for a dose of corgi:
https://youtu.be/GKX2x7XEa1c
too cute!!
Omg, that one with one ear up and other flopping down is killing me with cuteness!
Give an extra hug to T-Rex from me in honor of National Puppy Day! ????
Thanks, she loves extra hugs and attention!
WoooHoo! Thanks Nancyleandros- do atleast 50 frisbee throws to a 7 month old dobie puppy count????
Aww, you have a dobie puppy? Of course, that more than counts! ????
Testing BV Parco Palladiano IX this morning before yoga. Very woody and musky, light on the violet (unless it’s violet leaf). It is definitely spring crocus colour. Will switch to And the World is Yours after yoga and a shower.
How do you like And the World is Yours?
I do, it’s a lovely honeyed orange blossom. It’s a shame this is a limited edition tiny format, they should release this as a regular fragrance in a 50 ml bottle.
I love it! If you’re into that ricotta-orange scent, I highly advocate it. (Have you tried Dilettante? They are not dissimilar; ATWIY is probably a big more linear.)
Unlike cazaubon, I’m happy with 10 mL 🙂 but agree that this should become a regular scent.
Dilettante was a bit too animalic on me, otherwise I loved it.
Slept for 12 hours
Post shower it will be the original aedes de venustas- the bottle reminds me of the spring crocus shade.
12 hours of sleep sounds so rejuvenating! Hope you’re feeling rested and refreshed.
I plan on a nap later.
Coast to coast for four months has taken a toll.
Kiss T-Rex on the head in honor of puppy day!
I can’t remember the last time I slept 12 hours..
It had to be before I had kids
Envy you.
I don’t think I can even do it anymore.
It’s like riding a bike, you never forget….
But I just wake up. And I don’t go back to sleep.
🙂
I guess that means you really needed that sleep! I hope you feel rested now 🙂
12 hours of sleep sounds heavenly.
Jealous of your 12 hours of sleep. I wish I am able to do it some day. So much need it…
Holy cow! I haven’t slept for 12 hours in 20 years (pre children-LOL!)
SOTD Delrae Mythique (from the lovely Petunia). Nice early spring scent. Maybe pink lavender? Reminds me a little of Equistrius but deeper or more floral. Pretty!
Yes it is!
I’m wearing Poivre 23 in honour of chili oil, perhaps? It’s a stretch, but actually this scent makes me think of those colours, so.
Love Poivre 23!!
Putting on either Ostara or Chanel No 19 today. Off to get some grocery shopping done then stop in at the garden centre close to us. They opened March 1st this year.
I’m hoping to see if they have some purple grasses that I missed out on last year. They can rest in the garage until the weather begins to cooperate if I’m lucky enough to get them! ????????????
Good luck on the grasses- hope you’re able to snatch some before someone else does!
Iris Cendre today, which I guess is closest to Spring Crocus, but is more just NST-colored. Close enough.
It’s Fri-YAY! as I think JadaInGA says? Ugh, tonight can’t come soon enough. Happy almost-weekend!
Agreed on the Fri-YAY part. Much needed this week!
1000 Flowers Reglisse Noire today. Hmmm. Not completely black as it has a lightness to it. Charcoal maybe. But that’s not in the Pantone list above.
Gorgeous! In my top ten of all time list 🙂
Wearing Ormonde Jayne’s Ta’if today.
To me, it is a mixture of several of the colours, to make a blend of warm fall colours.
Have a great day.
OJ Ta’if is one of my strongest perfume loves. You smell wonderful!
Acqua di Parma Cipresso di Toscana – Arcadia.
Wearing Yves Rocher Iris Noir which is Ultra Violet in my mind. Maybe it’s the patch which always reads purple to me.
Are you sure you weren’t influenced by the colors on the box? If I’m not mistaken (I’m not at home to check), my mini bottle came in a white box with some elements in the color close to Ultra Violet – at least, it’s how I remember it.
The box vanished long ago, but who knows?
I haven’t tried that one! I didn’t even know YR had an iris scent.
I’m in Habit Rouge today, which to me is like the Spring Crocus color.
TGIF, people! I need it- I’m on the verge of throat punching co-workers, which would surely impact my perfume purchasing. 🙁
Sometimes the weekend doesn’t come soon enough! I hope your work situation improves.
I put my email on my post if you still want BBR.
ha! I am on that verge with administrators on a daily basis-LOL! Hang in there!!!!
Thanks! I actually really like the majority of my co-workers. I am an administrator for a group of engineers and there is one engineer/program manager who always manages to speak to me as if I’m an idiot- I’m assuming because I’m not an engineer. Never mind my education or experience working in government contracting… Grrrr!
Oops! i put my foot in my mouth! Not saying that all administrators are bad…just MINE can be annoying at times 🙂
No you didn’t! I completely understand!
Throat punching! That’s very Steven Segal of you! There is someone I am dealing with that could really use that type of therapeutic touch????
I’m always happy to help out a friend if you need me. 😉
Oh this makes me want to run home and smell Habit Rouge
to see if I get the same affect!
You smell great! I find it satisfying and therapeutic to indulge in a moment of *imaginary* throat-punching or whatnot—with something like one of those swimming pool ‘noodles’—in such situations. It turns the negative energy people like that cause into something humorous and releases it. ????
An ex-boss was my imaginary target while kickboxing — talk about a satisfying workout!
Wearing Black Orchid for Pantone Ultraviolet. I smell like a party but I’m ready for a nap.
Lol!
Wow, that could so be my personal motto. ☺️
Been on a Diptyque kick lately. One arm is L’Ombre dans L’Eau edp to go with Arcadia. The other is Tam Dao edp and somehow I’m seeing it with Meadowlark.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Two of my favs. You smell great.
I’m wearing Ashoka this morning.
Mmm. Arcadia or Lime Punch.
I wore it recently and enjoyed very much.
Couer d”Ete
I haven’t seen this one mentioned anywhere in a long time. The Miller Harris right?
yes!!! first time wearing it and I am liking it…sniffed without skin it smells like sweet tuberose. On skin it smells to my wonky nose like bananas and exotic fruits! There is something about it that brings to mind Miyako..a full bottle which I had many years ago which my mother “borrowed” and never returned- LOL! I think when she sniffs CdE she will want to “borrow” it as well but luckily sprayer untwists so I can decant and we can share….that’s how it is chez Marzipan…the bottles keep going round and round and round……. 🙂
So long as they’re getting the love. Nothing sadder than an unloved and neglected bottle of perfume!
My sentiments exactly! 🙂
I haven’t smelt it, but I absolutely love the name!
The bottle is very pretty too!
you made me look 🙂 Yes, it is very pretty! And it has lilac in in…I’m starting a lilac list for May!
Wearing Philosophy Amazing Grace EDT today for Almost Mauve and my scent-phobic office. Some days a good laundry musk is all you need.
My best friend’s signature scent is Pure Grace, which just isn’t my thing personally, but she wears the lotion and the perfume and when I hug her I always think of how perfect she smells!
That was the first perfume I ever bought, in a roller ball from Sephora. Long time ago. I should get another one, I bet it would be a nice memory scent.
I am Lime Punch-y in beloved Crown Perfumery Crown Bouquet, glorious galbanummy floral. We’re supposed to get 8-10 inches of snow tomorrow so I’m pretending it’s spring today.
Finally (finally!) managed to get ten packages out the door from the splitmeet. It’s so good to begin feeling somewhat human again.
Winter just really doesn’t want to leave, does it? 🙁
Oh no! Snow hitting again ????. Stay warm and safe!
Can’t think of a color pairing for this perfume but had a sudden urge to wear vintage Dioressence. I haven’t tried any of the newer versions (has anyone here?). But the one that I have (a small decant from 80s) is just unbelievably beautiful.
I was just thinking last night that I see Dior mentioned on the SOTD threads much less often than (I won’t even say Guerlain) Chanel, and I was wondering how it happened. My thought was that while Chanel maintains good resemblance and store presence for their iconic perfumes (No 5, No 19, Coco), Dior seems to be neglecting their famous perfumes (Diorella, Diorissimo, etc. – when did you see them in store last time?) or going even further – robbing one of the most iconic perfumes, Miss Dior, of its name. And having the smallest size of 125 ml for their Collection Privee dosn’t help also (I read that there were supposed to be 40 ml bottles somewhere in Europe, but I can’t find it anywhere online).
The last time i saw the original Dior line in my Big Dept store here or any store, was the very early 90’s. We have no Privee line on this side of the state.
Adding, if you want Guerlain here, you have two choices. Shalimar or Mon Guerlain,????
I haven’t seen the classic Diors in the stores in a very long time…but then again in my sleepy town the Macy’s or local Sephoras do not have much of a selection anyway.
I really haven’t kept up with NST this week, so I’ve got lots of pleasant weekend reading, finding out what you’ve all been wearing.
I’ve finally got some functions back in the kitchen, after nearly a month. The benchtop wasn’t made correctly, which we only discovered when it was about to be installed, so no stove, sink or washing machine! This morning’s very welcome task will be starting to put things back in the kitchen, and this activity will be scented with Fort and Manle’s Confessions of a Garden Gnome. It’s a bit too heavy on lily for my tastes, but I think lily fans would love it.
Oh geez, sorry to hear about the kitchen snafu! Any idea how long it will take for it to be made right?
I’m picking Meadowlark for my SSS Equestrian. The juice for this is actually a deep forest-y greenish brown, but it feels like more like Meadowlark to me. I am finally on spring break; a few more days of commitments and then we are heading to Beaver Creek for 4 days!
Yay for Spring Break! Yours sounds wonderful!
Enjoy your break 🙂
Have a nice time!
Jumping on the Meadowlark train, wearing Chamade…. so happy the sun is shining! I feel like I live in a different country now! Speaking of birds, I want to be a Snowbird, very very much.
SPRING – don’t leave us again!!!!
That is so funny… we picked the same scent, but different colors to match it. Hi, scent twin!
House twin! You smell lovely.
You smell very spring-appropriate. I hope, Spring appreciates it 😉
Ha! one would hope so
I’m matching Guerlain Chant d’Arômes with Arcadia—for Scully (undercover with Mulder as ‘Laura and Rob Petrie’) in the ‘X-Files’ episode “Arcadia”! ????
Aside from the obvious name match, Pantone describes the color as “[h]inting at retro yet at the same time modern”, which is both exactly what Guerlain created the scent to be and also a nice parallel to the ‘Dick Van Dyke Show’ joke. I personally tend to think of chypres as ‘green’ (even if the flowers are white), and I can really see Scully wearing CDA.
Fragrant friends, stay warm and/or dry if you’re in in the path of any extreme weather! Have a lovely weekend!
The whole week, every time I see this color name I think of that episode! It’s one of my favorite from the show.
It’s the first thing I thought of when I saw the name! And then I read the description and decided it was perfect. It’s definitely one of my favorites, too. “Woman, get back in here and make me a sandwich!”????
!!!!! 🙂 I thought of citing exactly that line but decided not to.
you win! 😉 only a handful of Arcadia matches, well done!
I’ll admit I was having a bit of trouble with color synesthesia this week. But pop-culture sci-fi references? That’s how my brain works! ????
Amouage Lyric Woman, because I can! My coworkers are all offsite today and I’ve had the office to myself- jeans, perfume, visible eyeshadow, music on low. Maybe a shade lighter than Chili Oil would work.
Yay for all of this!
Very nice SOTD!
Yes! ????
You smell wonderful!
You smell great! But I have to ask… I kind of understand the part about jeans (not all work places allow them even on Friday) and perfume (scent-free workplaces or co-workers perfume grinches), but what about eyeshadow? Do you have a policy about makeup?!!
Thank you, because that was my question too!
Thanks, everyone.
No policy, but they’ve made comments about other women with obvious makeup.
I would never make a negative comment about someone’s make up. That just seems mean.
How odd. What industry are you in?
Healthcare
???? This is all kinds of wrong!
🙁
Wow… I do not wear eyeshadow any more, but had I heard anybody commenting on it (or other elements of make-up if they don’t interfere with the job the person is doing), I would have come in full war paint 😉
SOTD = Chamade EdT, from the sample stash. Today I think it matches Spring Crocus, 17-3020. Other days, it leans more towards Little Boy Blue, 16-4132. Definitely smells of spring to me.
More melting going on in my part of the world, hurray!
Yay to melting 🙂 Let’s get some Spring weather!
Lovely!
Same here and I couldn’t be happier!
As I mentioned above, I’m covering Ultra Violet by wearing Insolence EdP. From a sample. About 4 spritzes on one arm about an hour and a half ago. I think it’s growing in strength… yowza. There are a fair number of scents to which I’m a bit anosmic – not this puppy. I think I prefer the softer, more tame My Insolence….
LOL — good for you, not sure I could take 4 spritzes of Insolence! I do like it though.
I normally wear 4-6 spritzes of Insolence edp. 🙂
I’m wearing L’eau d’Hiver which was the one my 7 year old son picked out from the selection of samples we sniffed at the caps of this morning. He smelled his arm and said he could smell ‘boiled carrots’ which was perceptive for a little dude I think. I may gain a fellow frag enthusiast in this house yet.
I think L’Eau D’Hiver could be a match for Almost Mauve up there.
Hey, very perceptive, good for him!!
Chose to wear Apres L’Ondee this morning then went to get a manicure this afternoon. Not on purpose, I selected a nail color that is spot-on for Almost Mauve, which in my opinion is a perfect match for ALO. Several hours later now and I just realized I had fallen subconsciously into Pantone’s net. How do they do it? Amazing.
Ha, they are EVERYWHERE.
A great scent!
Super late!
SOTD = Guerlain Mon Precieux Nectar
Meadowlark due to its golden hue. I love this musky vanilla almond orange blossom number, perfect for spring!
Perplexing things found on a train platform: i.e. What was someone doing in public with these items while standing on a train platform?
– a Q-Tip
– disposable dental floss threader
You smell gorgeous. As for the detritus on the platform, maybe they fell out of someone’s bag? Or were they (shudder) used? Those activities should only be performed in the privacy of one’s own bathroom.
Exactly. No matter how I imagine the circumstance of what happened before each became litter, I could only think of an action being performed in public that shouldn’t be.
I was interested to see the lone “winning half” of a chicken wishbone sitting on the floor under the seat opposite me on the train a few weeks back. Seems like their must be a story there…
Ha! I don’t understand the attraction of eating inside a train and ewww on touching a gnawed on bone with no access to running water.
“What was someone doing in public with…”
Oooh, stop that train of thought now! 😉
Shudder!
