Happy Almost-Friday! What fragrance are you wearing?
I went with 4160Tuesdays Urura's Tokyo Cafe to match Pantone Pink Lavender, but it's not really a perfect fit.
Reminder: on 3/23, to celebrate the equinox, wear a fragrance that evokes one of Pantone's colors from the Spring 2018 report for New York.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
to match warm sand (sort of) I am in Mon Oranger my Fragonard and a spritz of Feuilles D’Oranger by LOccitane
Fresh sprigs of mint leaves with white tea brewing..Tracy Chapman playing (by request of my 2 little ones)
Spring state of mind.
Good thinking!
Ooh tracy chapman!
And tea, and warm sand, your morning sounds great.
Thanks all..
Not sure if anyone is into soaps but over at the nonprofit Karam (no affiliation) they are having 20% off with code WOMEN2018. I have never tried their soaps but often stalk their website looking at all the beautiful things. The website was on a thread over at BdJ blog when she was writing about Syria. Finally pulled the trigger. Between this website and ebay I am officially done shopping (for the month of March)
Sounds like a fragrant and beautiful morning! And to answer your question from yesterday, I’d been ordering matcha lattes at the coffee shop, but have bought some matcha to start making at home. I think I’m addicted. š
I love matcha lattes too, so far I have tried Bluebirdās turmeric, gingernut and blueberry, chilli kale next!
its a good addiction!
May I offer you a few pointers?
Please, please do!!! I’m a newbie!
Don’t use boiling water
You can strain the tea before mixing (so you don’t get clumps)
Here is a link to Ippodo (my favorite place to get a matcha) https://www.facebook.com/IPPODOTEA.NY
They have great videos on their facebook page

Argh, I was in such a hurry and focused on other things (I had to give short presentation this morning about The EU General Data Protection Regulation), I forgot to apply a perfume.
But I can still smell the drydown of Amouage Gold (Man). Wow, it just lasts and lasts (I applied it yesterday around 9PM, its now 3 PM next day and I can still smell it without much of an effort!).
Yes, we tried Gold for our Amouage Sample project yesterday.
(We donāt read reviews or press releases or descriptions, so our reactions are very spontaneous haha)
Gold Man
Me: I smell rose
Mr Jiji: It smells like lily, oh and its quite musky, very musky.
Me: There is a lot going on, I can hardly pick apart the notes, and it has vintage feel, like those old Chanel perfumes
Me (After 2,5 hours), it gets so much better over time, I smell sandalwood
Mr Jiji: Yes its woody and so musky. Very nice.
Me: I love the musk in this one
Gold Woman
Me: Does it have aldehydes? Mr Jiji looks at me puzzled (I try to explain, but he got distracted)
Mr Jiji: its lightyellow to me and I get lemon or something fruity
Me: Lily of the valley, no doubt, and rose
Mr Jiji: Its also quite spicy, maybe cardamom? It feels more spacious than the Man version!
Mr Jiji (after two hours) this sure is powdery
Me: Yes, probably some iris/orris there, oh and its quite salty, maybe some amber. I also get more musk now, this is better.
Mr jiji: I agree, it gets better after a few hours!
I looked up some reviews afterwards and saw that the Man version had a lot of dislikes on fragrantica. I was wondering if a lot of men consider this too feminine (because it kinda has that Chanel no 5 vibe going on). But my husband thinks it is totally unisex.
Aww, i forgot to ask if he saw one of these Pantone colours when we tried it. But maybe Gold Woman is the yellow one top left?
You are diving deep into Amouage..a trip to Oman next?
* googling pictures of Oman *
Sun and sea and palm trees…..not a bad idea i guess š
https://www.amouage.com/visitors-centre
Hey thanks for the pics!
Sunny and pretty!
I love reading your Amouage reports!
Oh glad you do.
Its such a fun project.
I cant stop sniffing my arm today btw and in the dry down Gold Man reminds me a bit of Siberian Musk.
I have not tested them side by side, but I am going to. Maybe my nose is totally fooling me or my scent memory is just way off. We shall see…
Amouage Gold Woman is still my favourite Amouage, and my favourite aldehydic floral. The drydown is to die for.
I love your impromptu reports about your sniffing of this line. Have you tried Lyric and Jubilation yet?
The Gold duo are one of my favourites so far.
i also love it that the man and woman version smell related (cant say that of all the Amouages).
Jubilation, oh yess, while the man version is robust and good, i dont feel its that special.
Now the woman version….on my skin the first few hours were okay but kinda linear and a bit too ‘soapy’ (cant explain why, maybe the ylang? ), but it suddenly turns into one of the best fragrances ever. Mossy and with a resinous drydown to die for. Such a shapeshifter right? I may need a decant or travel size just to get to that phase. Haha.
Paraphrasing you: “on my skin the first few hours were okay but kinda linear … but it suddenly turns into one of the best fragrances ever….. Such a shapeshifter right?” This is my experience of nearly all of the Amouage Women that I’ve tried. Lyric, Memoir, Epic, Jub and the most surprising for me was Beloved which I was completely bored with when I first sampled and then thankfully tried again when I was about to sell it. (Or maybe Memoir which was a turnoff for me when I first tried it, way too intense like a kick in the face almost — but then later….) It’s all about the drydown with A!
I too am loving these side by side reports with you and Mr Jiji!!
I prefer Dia for daytime – I find the Gold a bit too florid on me to subject others in my office to it. To me, Dia has the same timbre, but isn’t quite as flashy about it
I love Dia so much. I have tried Gold a few times here and there, and in moments I can love it, but it’s often just a bit too much for me. I’m wondering if maybe it’s just too warm for it where I live.
Ha, i dont see myself wearing Gold to office either.
Dia is not in the Woman set š .. in the Man set it is though. Maybe I’ll order a separate sample so we can still try this one as a duo.
Gold is great to lend glamour to otherwise mundane occasions. It’s great when washing the car, for instance.
Ah, I love the Gold duo. Have you tried Amouage Silver? I think itās been discontinued but itās one of,if not my very favorite masculine fragrance Iāve ever smelled. Iād be curious about what you and your husband thought of it!
I dont think my sample sets have Silver (i am not at home, so cant verify). But if my memory serves me well, my local department store still has them!
I love Pantone Pink lavender! As a child, I had such an obsession with pinks and purples, everything I had (bedroom walls included) was one of those two colors.
Unfortunately, I didn’t think about a Spring-like fragrance today, it’s rainy and cold, I chose Sarah Jessica Parker’s Covet, I am craving the cashmere musk and woods dry down.
Happy Thursday-it’s almost-Friday!
It’s yuck here too — good pick!
I like the rain, but would rather be at home sipping tea in my jammies and reading books!
In 2 sprays of Chanel No. 19 EdP for a busy day taking my mother to some doctor appointments. Looking forward to a nice lunch with her later on. No. 19 never fails on days like this. Take care everyone!
Hope all goes smoothly and you have a lovely lunch š
Thank you Robin. It was pretty smooth. The day could have not been better!.
We are house twins! Enjoy your lunch.
Thank you! We certainly enjoyed the lunch and the time together. You smell fantastic in Cristalle!
I love No. 19, hope all goes well with the appointments! Enjoy a fun lunch…
Everything went fine and we had a nice time. It was a beautiful sunny day despite all the snow we got yesterday. No.19 is always perfect. I wish I had sprayed on more.
No.19 EDP is perfect. I wear 5-6 sprays to the office. I hope the appointments go well. Where did you end up going for lunch?
Thank you! Everything went fine. We ended up in Amada at the Brookfield Place. Nice tapas there and very convenient since mom wanted to do some shopping for a birthday present in the area. I had a hard time avoiding the Hermes and Jo Malone perfume stores there, but I did not want to make mom too tired with extra walking. I know, I know, excuses! But I survived… for now! ????
Glad to hear that everything went well, including lunch. š
Thank you! ????
SOTD is D’Orsay Tilleul for Meadowlark. Not a perfect match, since Tilleul is more green, but it’s definitely about spring/summer and sunshine.
You smell wonderful! We have a lot of linden trees here along the Front Range, but they won’t bloom until early June. I usually break out Tilleul by May, because I’m so impatient for the linden blossoms to arrive! I’m hoping that the linden tree we planted last summer in the yard will have a few blossoms, even if it’s still just a 6′ sapling.
Here they start blooming even later – mid/late June, so I associate linden blossom with summer. We have a lot of them, and I love walking when they bloom – the air if filled with this scent, so sunny and fresh…
Linden is one of my favorites, I wish we had trees nearby!
Yum, you smell great!
You smell lovely, and I agree with your pairing of Meadowlark.
We’re expecting to hit 71F today (!), so I’m feeling that Cherry Tomato color, and AdV Pelargonium seemed to be a perfect fit. I’m reminded of summers on my grandma’s front porch in the North Carolina mountains, and the dozens of bright orangey-red geraniums that outlined it on 3 sides.
DYING of jealousy. I am trying to decide if I can even be bothered to go out and try to melt out my car.
If it helps, March, and then April, are the snowiest months here, so Mother Nature may have a nice smackdown in store for us very soon. ????
Ha, not wishing my misery on you! Just wishing for some spring.
I love that cherry tomato color, it’s so cheerful!
Mmm, Kelly Caleche to match your same color, Robin. I forget how good this one is.
Oh interesting — I am probably too influenced by the color of the juice but I would have pegged that one for Blooming Dahlia! Either way, you do smell great, and I forget to wear that one too.
You smell beautiful.
For the longest time I associated it with the grey-blue Hermes bag featured in your 2014 Cuir d’Ange review. Now I associate it with the pink color on the box, which looks like Pantone Pink Lavender to my eye, so I’m with you, Courmarin.
Incidentally, I’ve always thought the Kelly Caleche ad is the perfect visual for Love, Chloe.
Thanks for the reminder to pull out Kelly Caleche, Courmarin. I’ve been meaning and forgetting to do that all week. Done!
They’re both lovely matches honestly. I could be persuaded either way.
Cartier La PanthĆØre, I think I would match it to Blooming Dahlia and Almost Mauve. It feels pink to me, but maybe that’s just because of the packaging.
I’m wearing Smell Bent Violet Tendencies. It doesn’t really match Ultra Violet, since this one seems to be straight-up leather on my skin.
I get a sour floral from that one – one of the few Smell Bent that fails to suit me
Wearing MDCI Cio CIo San to ( Kind of) match PANTONE 15-1520
Blooming Dahlia.
6 inches of freezing rain expected unde the 20 cm of snow to follow, so I picked a ( not) cheap and cheerful.
Six inches of freezing rain sounds like a disaster! I hope that you don’t lose trees and power. Keep safe and stay warm.
Yikes! Hoping you donāt end up with a disastrous power outage or damage from all that ice. You smell good.
Ugh!
Go away winter!
How do you like CIO CIO San & whatās it like? I have a sample coming my way, but have never smelled it.
Itās a juicy fruity floral on me.
Good lord! I’d never make it in the kind of weather you have to endure.
Oh YUCCCHHHH! That takes our Nor’easters and multiplies them by several degrees of magnitude! Sounds absolutely horrid.
Feminite du Bois to match Almost Mauve. The more I wear this one, the more I like it.
I finally watched the trailer for Wes Andersonās Isle of Dogs last night, and wow. I canāt wait! Jealous of all you New Yorkers who will be able to see it this weekend. Hopefully it will make it to our theaters by Memorial Day, lol.
I know! Can’t wait to see Isle of Dogs. Love me some Wes Anderson.
+1 LunaGreen – it looks terrific!
Ditto!
It sounded very sad to me. I’m debating with myself about seeing it.
I saw a trailer for it when I went to see Shape of Water and it seemed sad to me, too.
Wearing Smell Bent’s Prairie Nymph. I’m no good at matching perfumes with anything (colors, music, movies, etc.) but this might do for Pink Lavender?
Envying those beautiful astilbes in the picture; mine never look that lush…
I love astilbe. I’m having to alter my gardening style to fit the New Mexican climate though!
It’s quite a change, isn’t it? I’ve visited NM, but don’t have a clue as to what I’d put in a garden there.
Mmm I love Prairie Nymph. You smell great.
Thank you! I can’t think of anything that is similar to Prairie Nymph, and I get a kick out of wearing it.
It’s a 31 Rue Cambon kind of day… I am going to get s*** done! I associate this scent with golden colors, so I will pick Meadowlark to fit it into the spring palette.
We have a running thing at work about Pantone lately. One of my coworkers showed us the work of this artist and it’s fascinating!: http://www.angelicadass.com/humanae-work-in-progress/
This sent me down a rabbit hole trying to figure out my skin’s Pantone color (unsuccessfully), which led to many hours looking up my Color Me Beautiful palette. I think I’m a Deep Autumn.
A very cool project – thanks for sharing!
I love that photo! Just beautiful. Getting S*** dome feels so good! Rock onā????
Done…* ????
Very cool! Thanks for sharing the link
Thank you for posting that. I’d seen her TED talk before but it was as if I was watching it for the first time – powerful all over again.
Thanks for linking – love this! I am reminded of an article about skin color and undertones that I ran across recently and found fascinating. I *think* it was about finding a foundation with the right undertone, but the general gist was that asian skin is always assumed to have yellow undertones, while in reality there is a huge range – pink, green, orange, etc. The blogger had tons of photos of herself, friends and family to make the point, with lots of info on color theory.
I would love to read that if you can find it again!
Wearing Oat and Cornflower since it’s my most recent purchase
Pretty! I really liked all of the new Jo Malones.
Good morning Y’all…
Wearing my all time favorite, Chanel No 5 Eau PremiĆØre. Hoping this gives me the confidence to face the insurance auditors that are riffling thru my chart reviews at this moment, looking for stuff to complain about. (So far, no problems!) At the same time, my oldest is at a 2 day SkillsUSA culinary competition trying to win some serious scholarship money, and my hubs is the faculty sponsor and will gone for 2 days too. At the same time, co-planning the middle school band’s spring party tomorrow night, doing the shopping and writing checks for this and that. I GOT THIS!
Carry me thru, CNo5 Eau PremiĆØre! (Laying in pharmacy floor, in fetal position crying….ha ha ha ha) š
Bon courage! Time to put on your superwoman cape!
Some days you just gotta keep putting one foot in front of the other…. hang in there!
Smelling beautiful & powerful!
You got this!
Wow, you are Wonder Woman!
You’re a wonder woman, Jada! You got this!
Amazing! I can Iāll take a nap on your behalf????
Hang on in there!
I MADE IT! LOL Now I just have to lock up at work, stop at Sam’s Club for soda and snacks for the band party….and I’ll be pretty much caught up!
THANKS for the support everyone! And thank you, Chanel No 5 EP, for still being here 9 hours in….. š
You did great! I really envy your energy and always positive attitude! ????
I got so excited to learn about Hyrax and Moth from Zoologist that I doused myself with Civet, matching no. 18 Emperador, I think. I’m curious about Moth because I’m afraid of them after an experience with one that got under my sheet when I was young.
Has anyone else noticed that the flowers in Pink Lavender are astilbe?
Yes, I noticed that. I loved my astilbe in Alabama, but alas, I don’t think it will work in New Mexico…
Too hot? Or not enough chill in the winter?
Ha. I see that my astilbe comment is beating a dead horse.
Nah, I think astilbe lovers should talk them up more. š
Needed fresh today after a fay spent mostly indoors yesterday, so wearing TDC Kashan Rose with a few added spritzes of Amazing Grace Ballet Rose. Kind of a cross between Almost Mauve and Blooming Dahlia.
Kashan Rose is very pink to me – a neutral pink . None of the Pantone selections quite match my interpretation as they’re too cool. Have not smelled the Ballet Rose. Is it good?
Fresh, light, pink rose. A little sour ( I like sour), maybe a hint of fruit up top. Not very exciting but I like it. Probably better in summer.
It’s still Amber Week here. Chilly windy rainy. Yesterday’s scent was CBIHP AmBrosius; today is Profumum Roma Ambra Aurea. Mmmmm
You smell great!
Great choices for both days!!! And you are right, the weather is horrific!!
Not too cold in San Diego, but rain will be arriving shortly. Testing out Tom Ford Bois Marocain.
I’m in SD, too. Crossing my fingers for a more significant drop in temperature than promised today to give my beloved Cuir de Russie some skin time. I don’t love it as much when it’s warm like this, but the weather hasn’t given me many opportunities to wear it this year.
Me three! Hi neighbors! SD weather is not the best for wearing the heavy hitters most of the time! Luckily, I like the lighter stuff anyway š
HI neighbor! I’ll have to keep an eye out for your SotD. 95% of the perfumes I wear must be applied early in the morning while it’s still somewhat cool. I need more warm weather loves.
Vetiver Tonka for me today! Finally purchased a 15 ml travel spray. Love it!
Come on sunshine! Melt this snow away and get us to spring.
That pink lavender color is nice. I would match it with gray for the spring.
My new distraction: The Real Real — anyone uses it?
Uh oh…youāve gone down a rabbit hole. I have a friend who is all over The Real Real.
I’ve been very pleased with Fashionphile as a buyer (their ebay auctions especially).
Oh, another one to check out!
I have used RealReal since they started. Everything I have sent them has sold almost immediately. They do go over everything very carefully, so if you are buying, you can trust what you are getting.
If you have 10 items, their concierge service comes to you. ( in LA, anyway)
They do keep a pretty steep cut. Somethings I sell on eBay instead.
No fragrance yet. Itās quite wonderful to be home and sleeping in my own bed even if I donāt have contract.
I have a deep desire to own Jo Malone Golden Needle Tea.
Great to hear and know! My colleague is a shoe nut and she’s always buying gorgeous shoes from TRR and has had a very good experience.
Thanks for the info. I have some Rachel Comey boots that I’ve barely worn, the last time being this past weekend. And by the last time, I mean The Last Time. I just signed up to consign.
I bought a pair of black strappy Stuart Weitzman sandals on Real Real. I had bought the same sandals new and wore them for years and LOVED them… but I wore them to an outdoor event that killed them… they weren’t being made any more so I went to Real Real. The size they sent me was not the size advertised–but in their defense I think the pair I got must have been samples as no size was printed anywhere on the shoes. Anyway, they took back the shoes even though they were non-returnable (I think they may have been on sale) and were very apologetic. –The epilogue to this already too long comment is that eventually I found the shoes in brown on eBay in my size, in decent shape, being sold for a pittance–and snapped them up!
I haven’t used TheRealReal, but I have been mightily distracted by ThredUp lately.
I have bought a couple of bags – you have to be careful, sometimes they do not list all the wear and tear, and you end up with something that is worse quality than you anticipated.
SotM = Ambre Narguile for Pantone Emperador
Third day of Hermessences and enjoying them completely.
Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Greensleeves is playing on KUSC, I smell like spice cake, it’s cold and rainy outside. Feels like a good day to stay in.
Hermessence twin!
hi twin!
We smell wonderful today.
That was playing on KDFC in SF at the same time. I know those stations are related but I didn’t think they were the same.
I also did not know they were the same. Now I know to listen to KDFC next time I am in SF. š
Tiffanie, that was a very timely poem post yesterday. Just what I needed to get back to a calm state of mind. I have now bookmarked it to refer back to for future times of chaos. ????
Aw, Deva, I’m so glad. That piece of thoughtful poetry has helped me make it through the day many times over the past few months.
The temperature dropped to the 40s and the rain is back today so I’m wearing Diptyque Benjoin Boheme. I didn’t realize how much I love this until I retried it last night. The bad thing about getting in on lots of splits at once, and thus receiving lots of decants at once, is that some perfumes get overlooked. BB reminds me of how my grandmother smelled, which probably adds another layer to my love for it. Others that remind me of her are Bvlgari Jasmin Noir and TDC Jasmin de Nuit, though I think BB shares a lot more with Jasmin Noir than the JdN.
Bummed about the weather. I was hoping our sunny faux spring would at least last through the march on Saturday. Someone at my volunteer job mentioned SNOW last night. I just checked the forecast and that doesn’t look to be on the menu, TG!
Yes, it’s funny how a few mild, sunny days can feel like the norm when that’s not the case.
It was NASTY up here today. Cold, blustery, wind, rain. *cries*
I’m wearing Cristalle today. Perfect for cold and sunshine.
Oh goodness you smell wonderful!
Just landed in the US the other night and totally jetlagged. One of the stewardesses on the Chennai to Heathrow leg of the journey was wearing vintage Knowing, so I had to give her a compliment. She was an exotic looking lady and the perfume suited her perfectly.
I am staying with a friend for now, so not yet reunited with my perfume that is stored at my ex’s house. I was going through some boxes to get Winter clothing out – by the way it’s the 4th Nor’easter in March, but we are not getting it too bad here in Somerville MA – and found a small bottle of Sideris which was much loved before I left on my trip so only a couple drops left. But alas I forgot to bring it out of storage with the coat, boots, etc. I’m looking forward to the Galop that is at my other friend’s house in the neighborhood. I think that will be my end of the season snowstorm perfume for now. In any case there are some delicious traces of perfume on my clothing that has been in storage since last Spring.
Welcome back! You must be very excited to free all your perfumes from captivity. They will be thrilled to see you! ????
Ditto on the welcome back!
Welcome back!
Welcome back!
Welcome back!
Welcome back Sajini! Wish you had better weather.
Welcome back, Sajini !!!
Haha thanks for the warm welcome! Looking forward to some pleasant aromas.
Digging through the bottles my sister left here. Most are Avon minis back from when my mom sold Avon. There is a Nirvana Black rollerball, a big bottle of Couvent des Minimes Orange Blossom flower water, Allure EdP. Never worn or tried Allure, so I think thatās my scent for the day… no idea on color for this one. No idea how old it is.
It has been gray and overcast and rainy since I arrived to visit my Dad. This is the weather I remember as a kid from growing up here. Be nice to see the sun at some point while Iām here, though.
Allure is one that doesn’t get the attention it deserves. Let me know what you think..
So far Iām enjoying it. Some reviewers on Fragrantica complained about the peach notes. Iām definitely getting peach, and I like that. Itās not sweet and fruity though.
Iāll be happy to wear this while Iām here.
Oh – now I’m trying to remember where you are. I always thought SoCal, but must be further north. Hope you get some sun, too!
SF Bay Area. My Dad moved farther east from where we grew up but itās still the same area (about 50 miles east of SF) Wicked hot in the summer…but not humid.
Makes more sense! š Enjoy your visit.
I would probably put Allure with Blooming Dahlia.
????????
Allure is nice. Lucky you to have a bottle!
SOTD is Coromandel which I think is a match for Chili Oil.
Coromandel is popular this week! You smell great. ????
Good choice! You smell fantastic!
Coromandel also pairs well with Mexican food
Another lovely color!
Cold, rain, wind, gravid grey clouds. Sounds like a setting for a horror movie, but no, this just Oregon in March. And February. And January. And December…????
Iām mainlining some seriously hot coffee while wafting a bit of Cuir Ottoman. I wonāt repeat the fact that the fact this is only available in 100ml bottles is a crime against humanity.
Stay warm and safe all you winter wonderland people!
I love Cuir Ottoman soooo much. You smell heavenly.
Ditto KellyC. CO was my evening scent last night.
Thank you!
You smell wonderful!
Thank you! ????
Add November, April and May to your list (presumably.) Beats spring snowstorms, though. Did you get your debit card situation worked out?
Yes and No. Lots of drama from the bank since not only an I NOT at my home address, I asked it be overnighted General Delivery to the post office here. āYou donāt have a PO box?!ā
????*Scandalized*
Still waiting for delivery…
It used to come in 50 mls as well, pity they stopped doing that.
I know! There are at least 4 from this line I would like to have, but not 100ml. 30 or 50 would be perfect.
The gorgeous remnants of the vintage Caleche Soie de Parfum I sprayed last night, as I contemplated swapping it away. It’s been with me since the 90’s, and like my university textbooks, feels more like a talisman than a scent at this point. But I gave the books away recently and lived, so…
Hard decisions…
Hello, friends. It’s very rainy and awful out. My commute took 1.5x as long as usual because of upturned vehicles and cars that slid past barriers onto grassy buffers. Californians can’t drive in the rain, and for the past few weeks, our weather has been like the weather of a *shudder* normal place.
I thought I had drained my Portrait of a Lady sample, but nope, there was just about enough for one more day left. So I’m in that (matching none of the colors above), and wondering how long I should wait around to see if I find a discounted bottle of the stuff before I just say screw it and pay full (exorbitant) price.
Ack! Can you just stay home? ????
You know, I ask my boyfriend that every rainy morning. He’s quite the slave driver, though, and tells me I HAVE to go to work. Grump.
I ask J if I can stay at home all the time too. He says, “Sure, but you know all that perfume and expensive lipstick and mascara etc. you like to buy? Well, I can’t afford that, so we’ll have to cut those out!” And then I get up and take myself to work LOL!
I’m not even sure Seattleites can drive (well) in rain (I include myself) but it is actually more difficult in dry & scorched places as the dry conditions make surfaces more impervious. I’ve not tried PoaL in a couple of years and feel like I need to give it another go. Do FM bottles ever show up discounted?
Be careful on the roads!
Youāre right! I think about how I wish they would do some kind of humidity conditioning on highways. I wonder if thatās prohibitively expensive; probably is.
I saw a bottle of Iris PoudrĆ© go on eBay for like $160, which is pretty discounted! I donāt remember that scent well enough to want to spend that kind of money on it, but Iāve been occasionally searching for PoaL on eBay. I might get a pack of three 10ml sprays (something like $160 I think) and split them at the next splitmeet or something.
The 3-pack would be a smart move. They also might be cheaper in Paris. My recollection is that those sets are way cheaper at FiF than at US online stores.
I think it was in Palm Springs where I noticed they have massive storm drain structures. Around these parts you just see little grates (which only occasionally overflow.) But runoff in desert conditions is a different thing; up here it mostly percolates. There are substances you can pave roads with (also some sprays IIRC) that are more impervious (than concrete and the like) but I don’t think it lasts very long and yes, would be a majorly $ infrastructure project – and probably not money well spent, all things considered.
NO one can drive well in the rain! It’s been the case everywhere I have lived. People can adapt to the snow after a couple of storms, but not rain. ā
I’m wearing Bois d’Armenie (my little bit of the old stuff from before it was attenuated). It’s pouring rain after some nice sunny spring days š
You smell great!
Also š but have to remind myself that sunny spurts this early in the season are always just a tease. š and more š
ha, true!
I am wearing LāEau du Fleuriste, thanks to therabbitsflower who took pity on my wailing over its extinct status and very kindly swapped me for some! Have I mentioned that I love this blog? Since itās supposed to smell like a florist Iām going to say it is all the colors at once except emperador, chili oil and cherry tomato.
???? Tomorrow I might wear one of the vintages you sent me… or this weekend, if not. So glad I could share with you and vice versa.
I love this blog, too, the community, and the people. I was just pondering yesterday that I participate in other blogs about expensive and HTF and imported products (mostly skincare) but there is no swapping, no splitting, no freebies. Perfume peeps are extra special š
I’m in Burberry Brit Rhythm from a sample from the swapmeet. I love it! I sprayed it last night before bed and liked it so much I’m in it again today. I’ve already looked it up on some of the discount sites. I see a small bottle in my future. š I’m matching it to Pink Lavender.
I have a splash mini. It’s yours if you wannt it.
Fat fingers…
Yes!!! Please!
Please email me @ l lombardi underscore symbol 4 2 at hawt male. ????
If you are near TJ Maxx, check there. They often have it real cheap.
Good morning,
I’m in an almost match in color with Autumn Woods (Burren perfumery), which smells of blackberry leaves and for me personally, reminds me of our summer trips to Ireland, which usually include cool days with plenty of rain (my phone literally drowned in my rain jacket pocket last summer during a 3hour fairly miserable beach horse ride). We have such a rainy day here today in the California Central Valley, so now I’m craving scones and tea served in a warm pottery showroom cafe.
Lots of swap meet items arriving here today, got the first package yesterday – oh what fun! Happy Thursday.
Blackberry leaves??? I have got to look into this.
It’s called Autumn Harvest – I’m bad at getting fragrance names right! In any case:
https://burrenperfumery.com/product/autumn_harvest
OOOO! Winter Woods sounds lovely too…as well as the body products.
Iām really looking forward to trying this! ????
SotD is Aedes Pelargonium.
Cherry Tomato or Emperador – Pantone wise?
???? well, my vote is for cherry tomato
I’m wearing EA Green Tea Honeysuckle today, which I thnk is a bit Meadowlark-ish.
Does it really smell like honeysuckle? So few perfumes do!
I am in a concoction that would make many run screaming. I started with dab test of Bombay Bling; nice airy open then it went to what I thought was melon, and now have been educated as mango + cumin. But still thinking “melon” I went exploring, first to Emotionelle, then to Grain de Sable, then chasing cumin to McQueen Kingdom. Stay far away; you have been warned.
I have those days too!
Haha. I have those days often. I always wonder if other people notice that it’s a big messy melange or if they just smell “perfume.”
Bombay Bling is a fun scent…it reminds me of the aesthetics of Arielle Shoshana EDP. Thank goodness I don’t get cumin from it or I would have given it the ixnay.
Yeah, it’s funny, I’m getting much better about identifying notes but it’s still a process — I’m much more likely to take a first whiff and simply be reminded of some other scent I’ve smelled before. And then it’s a mad dash through the bottles to try and figure out which. And often they are NOT a match… But I keep track of these experiences all the same as part of my learning. I only ID’ed ‘cumin’ by looking at Fragrantica. I will be trying BB again fresh one of these days and see what I can identify the next time. A big thank you to you for making all of this possible! I am also looking forward to trying the Arielle soon — I would not have known that there are feelings in common between them.
I am wearing L’Occitane Pamplemousse Rhubarb and I think it may be a good match with Blooming Dahlia.
Yes, I can see that! Still trying to run across a bottle of that shower gel…
In Bruise Violet that I acquired in a swap. Gosh I have expansive tastes when it comes to violet. This one starts with violet and a hit of grapefruit–gives the scent a “stewed” feel that lifts after about 10-20 minutes. The scent morphs into a very pretty, but not too pretty (think thick plum lipstick and a leather jacket over a violet top), violet iris.
Wow, that sounds fantastic, On the list it goās!
Rut roh. I gotta go look…
I love this one, but it disappears on me within an hour. I’ve even tried layering the edp with the oil, and it doesn’t help. ????????????????
But you smell GORGEOUS!
Expansive, or expensive? š
Well I meant expansive, but it is hard to have expansive tastes in perfumes without it becoming expensive! (I know you were going there. I see to be mistress of the obvious today!)
I was teasing. ????
Cafe Ambre Noir by ever talented Sultan Pasha.
Lemming, lemming, lemming! ????
Incense Rose today, a real go to favourite, cosy but energising at the same time, this ones a bright cerise pink for me, will have to check the colour chart again!
You smell wonderful!
Thank u!
The week so far:
Monday: Amouage “Sunshine Man”
Tue: Guerlain “Vetiver”
Wed: Parfumerie Generale “L’Ombre Fauve”
Thu: Penhaligon’s “Vaara”
Tired and hungover today after team farewell party. Only 5 more days to go, and then I leave Dusseldorf “with one smiling and one crying eye”.
Congrats on the end of your project!
Thanks! I am looking forward to sleeping late for a week! ;^)
Hungover is no fun, but farewell party is! And you’ve smelled great this week!
Was wondering where youāve been! Congrats! And glad it was a good experience.
Congratulations on the end of your project! Lots of changes happening for you as of late.
Spritzed myself with a small dose of Vanilla Hinoki early this a.m. Packages have begun arriving and I’m now in Swapmeet Melange.
I wore Carner Barcelona Tardes to my volunteer shift last night, using up the last of my sample (thanks, again, to Swapmeet – in this case last fall’s) and gosh is it lovely. I do believe I need a bit more to wear this spring. Fortunately it’s available at Scentbird in 8 ml (perfect size!) thus I am now a Scentbird subscriber.
Swapmeet Melange sounds pretty good!
Oh – forgot to say Vanilla Hinoki is the color of a creamsicle to me. Tardes invokes a jumble of pastels – like a bowl full of Jordan almonds.
SOTD is Arielle Shoshanna. It matches pretty well with Lime Punch, I think. Working on getting out my swaps this afternoon!
I was enchanted this morning to see some kind of hawk sitting no more than 15 ft away from my kitchen window on a low branch. It sat for so long I was thinking it might be injured when it spotted something and took off. It was amazing to see.
This morning I’m wearing Rhubarb Ecarlate because it will be gone by the time I meet up with all the scent-phobes in chorus this evening. I love it and maybe should have bought the giant bottle instead of the 100ml.
I reach for that one a lot. You smell lovely today. š
I could swear there was an owl on my roof this morning. It was SO loud I rushed to look outside in my back yard and I couldn’t see anything. I kept listening for it and it sounded like it was coming from straight above me! Yay nature!
I love that one. I often wear it after work to wind down. You smell lovely!
I saw all kinds of geese overhead yesterday. Honkers.
I could swear I saw a falcon here late last summer.
Ooooh, I love swapmeet time. I’m in a tiny bit of By Kilian Amber Oud and a lot of Lonesome Rider thanks to a couple of lovely swappers. I smell outstanding today, if I may say so.
The amber goes with Emperador, but not sure about Lonesome Rider. Y’all, I’m so glad to have this! I’ve been hankering after it for quite awhile. š
Oooohhhh I LOVE Lonesome Rider! I think you smell fab!
Jo Malone Vetyvr….got four compliments at work….
Nice! š
Thank you!!! What is that expression? “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” It works really nice with my skin…had to look up the notes…there are spices and tarragon in there as well but it has this really soft diffuse quality…it’s really a great scent for me….
and now that I am home I am doing some massive testing….White Suede, Black Cherry, Vanille Chocolate, Ginger Ciao and Sabaya…all really good š
Yum! I am testing two Chabaud gourmands, Lait et Chocolat and Lait de Biscuit. I smell like cookies!
Thank you again! and now I have to decide what I want to wear tomorrow š
Wearing Diptyque Fleur de Peau to go with Almost Mauve. I like Fleur de Peau and even if it is a very clean white musk, it doesnāt remind me of shampoo or laundry detergent. I enjoy the peppery iris and super mildly animalic musk in the beginning and wish Diptyque featured that more. Itās been a pleasure wearing it on mildly rainy days and think Iāll be reaching for it on easy and cool spring days.
Tempo is love. Soft chocolatey patchouli, it reminds me a little bit of Chanel Coromandel.
Hope everyone is well.
Tempo is very nice, it reminded me of SL Borneo. I
Ears perk up – Coromandel, Borneo? I need to try my sample asap!
I’m looking forward to trying both of these.
I liked both of the new Dityques. Tempo also reminded me of Borneo. I was obsessed with white musk all of a sudden, last summer. This would have been on my wish list, but Iāve moved on to new obsessions. It did have a hint of funk as a recall, too. Thought maybe my hands were just dirty.
????
It is sort of like Borneo, but Iām not getting as much chocolate as I would like.
Yes it reminded me of a rougher (i.e. not ‘Chanel smooth) Coromandel EdP with tea notes. If I didnāt already have Coromandel I’d probably have snapped up a bottle.
I’ve got to remember to get a sample of Tempo next time I stroll through Nordstrom.
Bracken Woman for me this morning but I don’t think Arcadia is untrammelled and green enough to match to it.
I know this is yesterday’s SOTD but I never read through the whole thing – and just have to comment on the great word! ‘untrammelled’ – makes me want to try my Bracken again.
A bright and sunny day here today. What a contrast from yesterday! Total snow amount for me = 12 inches. But due to the March sun, it is melting away quickly. I’ve been hearing the sound of drip, drip, drip all day. ????
SOTD = Soivohle Geranium Rose Mint, from the sample stash. Plenty of geranium and mint on me, barely anything in the way of rose. It doesn’t match the swatches above… this would be a Day-Glo green straight out of the 1980’s.
Geranium Rose Mint sounds fantastic, judging by the name. Do you like it?
I like it, but I think that this may not be the right weather for it. I’m looking forward to trying it in warmer weather to see what happens then.
Started the day in Twilly. Itās really nice -funny how the sample smells better than the bottle. And ended day of packing wearing Heure Exquise seal from the lovely Coin-Op. Iāll wear that tomorrow. Itās gorgeous.
Move day is tomorrow. And Iām not ready. ????
Seal? Swap
Are you moving close? Home? Business? Moving is always stressful- hope it goes well.
Right next door! Have been walking things over. Thank you!! My house sells on the 3rd, so I have until the 2nd to be fully moved.
Oh, best of luck with your move!
Thank you!!
Good luck with the move!
Good luck with your move!
It’s my Friday!! Yay!
I’m wearing many sprays of vintage Diorissimo; one of my favorite frags from years ago. I bought this bottle from the bay about a year ago.
Today I got 3 complements on my goofy Skechers bob shoes (with a bunch of cat faces on them). I think everyone needed the laugh!
Off to research! I bet they are adorable shoes.
SOTD = Guerlain Baiser de Russie
I would match this with Pantone Coconut Cream from a cuddliness standpoint. The juice is yellowish greenish and I will not spell out what substance has the same color.
If I didn’t look at the notes in Fragrantica, I would say it has Tonka, vanilla, musk and something fruity. Occasionally, it gives off a classic vibe – I wonder what note causes this? It has a very soft sillage and is perfect for the office.
I love the fragrance; however, what I noticed is that it does not play nicely with certain foods (e.g. cauliflower, mild chili). Paired with these 2, they combined to become “bad breath”. Has anyone experienced this with BdR or any other fragrance?
I will be back in the office tomorrow and yay, because I get cabin fever if I work from home for more than 2 consecutive days!
You mean smelling the food + smelling the perfume at the same time = halitosis smell? Canāt say that I have.
I worked from home for 3 months one time and really enjoyed it.
and I would KILL to be able to work from home-LOL! I like to be in my bathrobe all day long and not have to drive every day to work š
