You probably already noticed that it's Monday again. It's also Pistachio Day. Birthdays today: Johnny Cash and Fats Domino. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm starting an Uncle Serge week with Rahät Loukoum.
Reminder: 3/2 will be Uncle Serge Day...wear something by Serge Lutens (a repeat from 2014).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Wearing SL Muscs Koublai Khan for Lutens project.
It’s a glorious winter day – about -12°C (10°F), but no wind, the sun is shining brightly, the sky is blue and creates a wonderful contrast with white snow. My kitty enjoyed a sun spot on the floor.
Great day for MKK.
I am sadly anosmic to this one. I gave my sample to a friend, and she said “You SERIOUSLY can’t smell this??” Alas no.
Wow! 😮
You’re not alone, I can’t smell MKK either.
MKK is faint on me, but it’s rosy and soft. For animilic musks, I go with Absolue pour le Soir.
I love how quiet and bright those winter days are
After going through a phase of not being so enthused with iris, I’m in L’Attesa and really enjoying it–no obvious annoying aromachemicals to my nose.
Also haven’t been too excited about anything on tv lately, but looking forward to giving McMafia (starring Grantchester’s James Norton) a shot, as well as Living Biblically, featuring Stan from Mad Men.
The sun is out and it’s going to be in the upper 40s, not a bad start to the week!
Oh, I need to look up McMafia — I do like Norton but it’s probably too violent for me.
Holy Mary, it’s Monday!!
Keeping it under control with Taklamaken from a lovely NSTer as I try to get a hold of someone at my bank because I have been locked out of my accounts ALL weekend.
Oxymornoish though it may be, have a great Monday everyone✌????
Good luck with the bank.
Sounds your bank was taking the Step Back from the Ledge challenge a bit too seriously.
🙂
lolol
Have fun with that. My bank does that kind of thing on a regular basis. And is closed on weekends.
On the upside, you smell glorious in Taklamakan!
Yuck on the bank lockout. Good luck in getting everything resolved.
Layering 5 O’Clock au Gingembre with Stash for the pistachio note. Working from home, who’s going to stop me?
Keep calm and reek on!
Nobody here, that’s for sure!
that’s what I figured! 🙂
I would try that but my 5 o’clock is running low. Scary times!
Today is a fasting day for me so I am commando
I got my first perfume from the split over the weekend, Rituale
Had anyone else tried this, curious what others think
Baby Buddha is feeling much better today, thank heavens
Robin, I am lemming that tea and saucer set! Gorgeous
Yes, wonder who makes it?
Yay for baby Buddha!
Glad to hear Baby Buddha is getting better. 🙂
I have Rituale, I get incense and beeswax.
Yeah for Baby Buddha!
Enjoy Rituale. It is quite wonderful.
I get intense too, I feel like there is a floral accord in this one? Or maybe I am just smelling the beeswax/honey?
Yes, you’re right. The florals are the most pronounced in the mid-development on me, particularly narcissus blended with honey.
*pokes head up* narcissus??
Ah, so its narcissus that I am smelling! Thank you. I had it on yesterday and every once in awhile I would smell a strong floral accord but was puzzled on what it was! This was a blind buy (from the split meet) for me so I have no idea about the notes. Maybe I should look it up…
Glad Baby Buddha is feeling better, hope you are too! This winter has been rough.
My runny nose is still hanging on…
This winter has been particularly rough, I don’t remember ever being sick like this! Usually I have such good immunity
Lots to do today – blowing in briefly to say Chergui today.!
You smell great!
Thanks to our lovely Koyel!
I’m thrilled you’re enjoying it 🙂 Now that I know it’s Serge week, that might have to be my scent for tomorrow.
You smell great!!! I
Sitting and waiting for car repairs. Last night after seeing the neiman marcus psa, I spent hours trying to make it work so I only spent 150 dollars (only, lol) by time I figured it out, I didn’t want anything. Money saved! Currently have Feve on one hand and Cuir Impertinent on the other. Will change to something else before work. I have no SL to participate this week, but am looking forward to see what everyone is wearing.
what was the neiman’s psa? Did I miss out on something…
50 dollars off of a 200 dollar purchase. Or 100 dollars off 400 hundred.
Lillyjo, have you ever tried any SL?
No, I never have. Never knew it’s existed until I came to NST.
Wearing one of my favorite SLs today- La Fille de Berlin.
Twins!
Triplets! I’m on a real rose kick these days, and Unca Serge has three to choose from: this fresh, dewy, sugared rose is my favourite of them.
Huh. I wouldn’t use any of those descriptors for La Fille de Berlin. That’s got to be a nose-thing rather than a skin-thing.
I find it jammy (a good thing in my book) but not particularly sweet. I love the teensy bit of amber that pokes through.
Finally testing Alahine thanks to She-Ra! I see what you all are iiiiiiiiiiii-ing about.
🙂 🙂 🙂
I was just eyeing a full bottle of this. Great choice.
…I’m gonna throw out a warning, in case there has been some time between your trying a sample of Alahine and now: it’s been reformulated.
Badly, IMO. I was very upset.
However, I say that with deep love for the original version and a sensitivity to certain aromachems, so if you’ve tried a recent (2017-ish) sample and you want a bottle, you might be just fine.
Thank you for the caution. I’ll have to figure out what my samples are.
you can come sit right here, next to me! You smell wonderful!!!!!!!!
Wearing the creamy Tam Dao today. I just finsihed my bottle this morning, do I pick up more Tam Dao, or another bottle of Samsara? They both smell so similar these days, Samara actaully veering a bit more masculine. Decisions decisions…
How long has it been since you tried a new bottle of Tam Dao? It’s definitely different.
IMHO if you can find a vintage bottle of Samsara edp, that is the way to go. It’s creamy and feels “fuller” to me if that makes any sense.
Old Samsara is absolutely the way to go. With every revision it’s gotten thinner and more modern and less interesting. (My bottle is I think late nineties, by which time it was already not as quite the rich, plush launch version, but still really excellent.)
In Aedes Palissandre d’Or, from a sample vial. Spices and woods and warm amber.. Not what I usually go for but I am enjoying it very much 😀
I love PdO, you smell great.
That is what I often go for and it sounds yummy 🙂
Combining rose month with Serge Lutens week in La Fille de Berlin. This is still my favorite rose, with Portrait of a Lady a close second.
I think I’m going to be the only one in Sa Majeste this week!
I have a bit of Rose de Nuit for tomorrow, but no Sa Majeste!
Nope, I’ll be in it, too. ????
Yay. I almost never hear it mentioned anymore.
Different Company Jasmin de Nuit. Ten years on and I still love this one.
Me, too. Nice to see another fan.
Me three. I’ve loved this one for a long time. There’s something in it that reminds me of my grandmother, who died when I was 11. Maybe there’s an Avon perfume out there that is similar because from my memory, she was exclusively an Avon woman.
I am sure there is . Avon made some amazing perfumes that would most definitely stand up to niche standards, imho.
That one is very pretty, and a great winter jasmine.
I actually only have one Serge Lutens sample, which I got from the freebiemeet, so I will not be participating the whole week. So today I’m continuing in moving into spring with Elie Saab Le Parfum. I haven’t worn this often, but I love the orange blossom and honey.
Did you say orange blossom and honey?! Sounds wonderful.
Elie Saab is a great one!
Feeling a tad sniffly today, so I opted for tea: Atelier Philtre Ceylan on one arm and CB Russian Caravan Tea on the other. They complement each other well, I like both, and they definitely aren’t interchangeable, but I really can’t get behind the pricing of Philtre Ceylan. Oh well, at least I can enjoy my sample!
Ah feel better! JUST getting over it here, three weeks. Hot tea, honey, baths.
Byredo Oliver Peoples for day 26 of iris month. Saving SL Bas de Soie and Iris Silver Mist for tomorrow and Wednesday.
Aaah, ISM is the perfect crescendo to iris month. You will smell great!
You smell so good!
House twin…M/Mink on one arm and Sunday Cologne on the other.
Wearing the last 2 sprays of TDC Rose Poivree small decant. I will miss it because I really love it. Will I replace it? Not until I finish many of my other decants and samples that need my attention and are waiting patiently for me.
Busy, busy week ahead! Have a paceful and beautiful Monday NST!
I like that one, too, and still have a bit of a decant left.
It is already on the top of my perfume shopping list. Someday…
I’m in SL Clair de musc, which dries down to a lovely skin scent after awhile. Dr’s appointment close to noon, so I need to play it cool.
Uncle Serge plays with the capitalizations on this one, which bugs me just a bit. ????
Okay, now I’m wondering if “capitalizations” is intentional or an autocorrect. And if it’s intentional what it might mean…
It’s intentional. Serge Lutens, for whatever reason, doesn’t always capitalize the first letter of his fragrance names as one would expect. So, it’s Clair de musc on the bottle, not Clair De Musc.
I have no idea why he does that, but it bothers me just a little. That’s the plight of a word nerd. ????
Oh, that would make me twitch a little bit too!
I do really enjoy the drydown of CdM.
This is one of those lovely perfumes that I don’t wear nearly enough.
*preventively ducking the rotten vegetables*
Not planning to participate in Oncle Serge Week, as I’ve found over the years that I’m just not much of a fan. Also, I’m finding that instead of getting used to them and familiarity engendering affection, more and more they annoy the pants off me. I used to like Datura Noir, but I wore it one day last week and could NOT WAIT for it to wear off. That jasminoid thing that just works my nerves made an appearance early and never went away. (Maybe I’d better recheck Fleurs d’Oranger.)
Okay, sure, I might wear beloved La Myrrhe on Friday, assuming that temperatures aren’t in the 70s, but that’s it for me and Lutens. We just don’t get on, and I think that’s acceptable.
So today, I’m in also-beloved Safari, nice warm sweet green.
I think that’s perfectly acceptable. I feel the same way about most of the classic Guerlain’s that I’ve tried. *ducking*
Me too!
mals86 — I’m with you!! (I’ll bring us a shield.)
No matter how many times I return to SL, I just. don’t. get. it.
I LOVE Serge Lutens but I understand where you’re coming from, as I’ve never enjoyed anything from Hermes. Their scents never smell anything like the descriptions on me, so I’m guessing they dislike me as well . . .
Isn’t it crazy how different we all perceive scents? I love almost all things Hermes lol.
If everybody liked the same thing, there wouldn’t be 1500+ launches every year! LOL
I just checked — you participated last time. I say once is enough and you should get a free pass this time!
Chanel no 19 edt for a few last days of iris. I feel like I should be wearing a dress and stilettos in this; it just doesn’t suit my everyday preschool teacher wardrobe!
Amen. Doing the same today but in EdP.
Do you also feel like wearing stilettos? 😉
I can tell you what I don’t feel like wearing, and that’s a soup can (if you get the reference.)
But FWIW, I have, ahem, rocked stilettos (once) before. 😉
I do, but really? In mixed company? Unless, of course, it was some complex allusion to early “pre-Campbell’s” Warhol’s creations for Israel Miller 😉
You smell great and elegant no matter what clothes you wear at the moment.
The handle of our microwave door came off this morning-in hand- as coffee was being reheated inside. Luckily I was able to pop it open with a butter knife. I guess this is a major sign that I need to stop procrastinating on replacing it to match our stainless steel stove which we bought over a year ago. We have been living with unmatched appliances- the shame!
Looking forward to Serge week. I have several samples from this house I need to try as I continue to make my way through my sea of samples. I’m making good progress! Starting off in Iris Silver Mist.
OH NOES!! I truly can’t live without my microwave.
I know! Luckily we have a backup counter top one in our basement, that I’ve been hanging on to for college bound kids, that may need to come out of hiding.
My microwave died at 4:06 pm one Christmas Eve, and it took me about half a minute to decide that I HAD to rectify that before the stores all closed at 5. I cook most of my vegetables in the microwave, and I even make gravy in it :), so there was no way we would make it through Christmas day with no microwave…
I mean, you know, GRAVY.
I only have 2 Lutens perfume samples, so I’m saving them for the end of the week. Today I picked Prada Infusion de Vetiver.
Yesterday I made the chocolate cake with pistachios and apricots that Victoria posted over at Bois de Jasmin. (My attempt did not turn out as beautiful as hers). So this morning I inadvertently celebrated Pistachio Day by having a couple slices for breakfast 🙂
Oh, that sounds amazing! I’m sure it was tasty even if it wasn’t pretty!
Perfect!
House twin! You smell nice.
Yum and yum!
Was it delicious? Should we all make it?
I am currently in Geisha Noire from the splitmeet and I LOVE IT! So glad I participated in that one. Saving my couple of Serge ones for later in the week.
I spent the weekend with my kid in Alabama, so I haven’t commented much- I did participate in the project Friday by wearing Genre which is wood and leather to me- just like my dream library would be. I didn’t take any scents with me for the weekend, but I stayed with my aunt and tried out the No. 5 body lotion I got her for Christmas and it is SO nice. Layered it Saturday and yesterday with L’eau that she had and I smelled great! Also, tried Cristalle for the first time in the airport in Houston and it created an instant lemming. Don’t know how I’ve mad it this long without sniffing that, but it’s sooo good ( I sprayed some on my arm and kept sniffing it).
You smell fab!
I really liked the no 5 body oil but it was a LE and I only tried it after it wasn’t available ???? I’ve never tried the lotion. I should check it out… And Cristalle is fab too! Lots of Chanel love lol.
Hope you enjoyed time with your son (I’m sure you did)!
We enjoyed each other immensely! And I fed him all the food he wanted, which he appreciated haha.
It seems to me that any Shalimar fan would enjoy Geisha Noire. I love both.
I was planning on wearing Genre last Friday but forgot. I LOVE that dry, papery, woody base, and it’s in most of the Edward Bess perfumes. (If you like Genre you should definitely try La Femme Boheme.)
Recently some peeps here were talking about the Chanel No 5 oil and when mixing up my post-shower oil this weekend I briefly considered adding No 5 to scent it. I ended up using Pacifica Sandalwood instead, but I may try No 5 next time around.
Agreed on the Shalimar/Geisha Noire point. I think J (my guy) is really going to love it too.
I do need to try the other Edward Bess. I think Genre is so well done and right up my alley.
I’m usually not one to buy scented body products but the No. 5 lotion made me want to. Also, it made me want to try No. 5 again, which I never really “got”, though I actually enjoy Eau Premiere and L’eau.
Oh, I could do that, too!
I somehow managed to score a 85% full bottle of Shiseido Feminite du Bois yesterday. The total was $77.30 (including shipping). I am quite surprised because they normally sell for much more than that. My folks finally decided to get a microwave yesterday so we can start eating those leftovers. I am sitting around in Shalimar today.
Lucky you! How does the Shiseido version of FdB differ from the current version? I’ve only tried the current one. I find it very beautiful in the beginning, then it promptly turns into a big ol’ cumin bomb on my skin. Albeit the loveliest cumin bomb I’ve ever smelled 🙂
The Shiseido version is a little deeper and richer. Probably because there are materials that have either been banned or restricted. The Serge Lutens is still a wonderful perfume.
Or disappeared — the original surely had real Mysore sandalwood.
Wow, lucky you!
I’m with the outliers and not into the SL vibe .
And I’m finally starting to un-sick a bit from Nastybug 2018, so today I’m sporting in full glory Chanel 19 EdP, on skin.
Happy Monday all. Coffee up!
You smell fabulous!
No. 19, five thumbs up.
Wearing Vanille Reminiscence and Vanille Exquise today.
I did not want to get out of bed or go to work this morning. Some days the lure of spraying perfume is my main motivator…actually most days…all days…? ????
How’s the Vanilla Project going these days?
I thought the Reminiscence was just okay, maybe too powdery for my taste. I have just about decided that what I *really* want in terms of vanilla is a cheapie CocoaPink dupe of SDV for $17.50. (I might even pick that if the real SDV were the same price, because for some reason it doesn’t last all that long on my skin.)
What is this CocoaPink and where might one buy it?
https://cocoapink.net/home.php
The scents tend to be pretty gourmandy. I haven’t tried many of their products, but the body butter is pretty rich and emollient.
I find these two quite similar actually. I like them both but probably won’t seek more of either.
VQ continues…I have bought Note Vanille, Profumo Vanille Bourbon and the Maison Vanille sampler set so far this year.
I am curious about the CocoaPink site…someone else referenced it too. Which one is the SDV dupe please?
It was probably me talking about CocoaPink before. They call it a duplication of Spiritueuse Double Vanille, so it shouldn’t be hard to find even in the big haystack of fragrance choices.
Thanks, I found it.
I have not explored this site but it looks neat.
Have you liked the products you’ve tried from there please?
Do you find them similar? I wore Reminiscence Vanille the other night and thought it smelled like the Goutal, but I have never noticed that before so I felt like I might be hallucinating. lol
They are quite similar to me…sitting at my desk thinking that thought as I read your comment. 😉 perfume is always on the brain.
They aren’t identical. I think the VR is more generic spicier and the VE has more patchouli to my nose. But they are indeed similar.
I am wearing Lampblack, thanks to the generosity of Hajusuuri. I think I smell like a shaft of light in the darkness. Happy Monday to everyone!
Love it. You smell great. Lampblack is a good explode-out-of-Monday scent.
You smell great and I love how you described it!
Nice!
Such a lovely description!
Super great choice. This one is my favorite from the house. ????????
Went to Perfumarie yesterday and so I still have my top three on from doing their sniffing wall flight (to be revealed in a few days) plus they have bottles around that are labeled and are the normal brand testers and I’m liking the Caswell-Massey Honeysuckle more than I did yesterday when it seemed a little weak. It’s definitely a fun experience to do the blind sniffing
I need to get over there one of these days. Blind sniffing is fun and challenging and rarely happens.
And you’re so good at picking out notes!
Good morning Y’all….I definitely noticed it’s a Monday, and another gray rainy one at that! Oy vey….
Decided to go with Commodity Platinum Bergamot, one of my scents that I associate with getting work done and feeling professional. Don’t know why it works, but it works. End of month reports, let’s do this! 🙂
Hope those reports are done then 🙂
Serge Lutens is my favourite perfume line and so I will do a week. Recently I have gone off Rahat Loukhoum a bit as the cherry marzipan almond seems to have got louder so I will start with Louve which is just a tad quieter. I have been collecting boletes and wild blackberries on my morning walks and yesterday we were given a wild rabbit ( dead) and made a fabulous stew.
…did you have to skin and joint the rabbit yourself?
I once had to cut a deer shoulder into portions for cooking, but it was recognizably meat at the point I was given it.
It was skinned and we did the rest. So not quite as rustic as the full Winters Bone scenario. And not as daunting as a deer’s shoulder. You can’t buy rabbit or trout in NZ supermarkets due to ministry of agriculture restrictions but you can hunt and fish.
Idylle LB today and remnants of Aroma M Nobara-Cha in my sweater.
I am curious about the Aroma M line!
I do not have SL for a whole week, but I am happily outfitted in l’ombre dans l’eau, green and rose, two things that don’t usually go well on me, but maybe it’s the lemon, or the little bit of spring, but thanks to a delightful NST’er, I smell great.
Ahhh, you smell so wonderful today!
I could do SL for several weeks. SOTD is Cannibale. I was amused to read through the wildly varying descriptions on Fragrantica. On me, I get tobacco / incense / spices (mainly clove) / rose. Nice for a gray drippy day.
That does sound nice! I still have not tried any of that set.
I’ve started my own project for the next few weeks – I’m wearing my full bottle perfumes in order of the year of purchase. I wore Escentric 2 (2014) yesterday and today started with my 2015 purchases. I’m wearing Beige EDT, and wondering if I can wear it every day for the next year – it just smells so warm and classy.
Maybe that’s why I don’t wear it every day – sometimes I am prickly and decidedly not classy.
Have a great day everyone!
Oh, what a fun idea!
I am wearing petit matin from MFK. I needed a pick-me-up after all these grey days. I’m still working through my sample; but the company has a nice program with these. You can buy four samples for around $15 US, and they send you a coupon that allows you to credit that amount toward the purchase of any full bottle. The coupon is good for a long time so you don’t need to rush into a decision. SO, I will probably go with a bottle of this soon as I really don’t have anything else this light and bright.
Ooh I just recently sampled Petit Matin too, so I can say with confidence that you smell wonderful!
I wore Iris Silver Mist both on Saturday and Sunday, so I count it towards my input into the community project week, and after I’m done with the month of irises, I’ll see if I want to do any SL on Thursday.
Today it’s a beautiful rainy day (I know, I know but living for years with a drought changes one’s perspective), and I’m celebrating it with Purple Rain by Prada.
Congrats on the rain and you smell lovely today!
Thank you. We’re promised more rain by the end of the week so I need to think of a good celebratory scent.
I’ll be locked in a conference room all day today, so no Muscs KK for me. I dabbed on a bit of Bois de Violette. Hopefully it will lift my spirits through what promises to be a long and trying meeting, and also not offend anyone else. 🙂
BdV is one of my favorites – you smell great!
Twins! It’s great for the cool, spring-ish weather in my area!
I spritzed egoiste all over myself today with gay abandon before I noticed it was Serge Lutens week! But if I’d gone with lutens I’d be in Ambre sultan, it’s very cold and dreary here today.
You still smell amazing.
Agreed!
Egoiste is good stuff!
Dreary Monday, all. I forgot about Uncle Serge week, so even though five days of Serge would have been trivially easy for me, I’m in By Kilian Straight to Heaven. My nose must be broken, though, because I’m getting a gorgeous woody iris. Either that or last night’s Infusion d’Iris has stuck around even better than I expected.
I would like a gorgeous woody iris, it sounds like you smell wonderful.
Trying to force Spring to come earlier with Chanel No. 19.
It may be working – I saw one lonely bluebonnet on the side of the road when I took my son to school this morning.
Please keep wearing 19, I insist! Bring on the spring!
SotM = Dzongkha
Dzongkha’s strange incense feels expansive without smokiness. A walk-through-the-cloud application is just right. And it’s a good one for the third last day of iris month.
Beautiful photo up top. Turkish delight puts me in mind of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Have a marvelous Monday, fragrant folks!
I love The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (all Narnia books, really)!
I loved all the books too. Narnia is a magical place. It was my Hogwarts. 😀
I have more than enough SL for the community project! This morning I’m wearing A la Nuit. I have so many jasmines, I forget how much I like this one. I should wear it more often than I do.
You smell great. Jasmine-y goodness. I really enjoy A la Nuit. It might be the only SL I can wear. I need to toss the sample stash and see what else I can come up with for Friday.
I adore most of the older Lutens I have tried. Commando right now as I am recovering from a stomach virus, but I think Un Bois de Vanille will be my choice today.
I was thinking I could easily do a full week of this house, then I remember that I recently did for the Rinse, repeat challenge in early Jan 🙂
Hope you feel better soon.
I was trying to hold out on my afternoon coffee until at least 3pm but seeing the above pic has not helped.
I stopped in Jo Malone earlier today to retry the English Fields Collection and I’m definitely 95% there on purchasing the Honey & Crocus. I sprayed a bit more than the first time and the lasting power is far better than before. It’s a very comforting honey/almond scent, and the Primrose is quite lovely too. The others are OK, not bad, just nothing special to me. The downside is that these are limited addition meaning once my 30ml bottle is gone, it’s gone.
Also popped in Sephora and tried Nomade, the new Chloe scent, which did not go over well with my husband. I’ll spare you his exact words. It’s a strong floral with noticeable oakmoss, which I would tend to like, but in its entirety, it smells generic floral on me. I actually like it better after washing it off as it continues to linger but much more subtly vs. the in your face floral.
SOTD: a mix of stuff 🙂
Oh lord….I thought you had talked me out of the Honey and Crocus over the weekend 😉
I thought about that myself…what if I really love it and after the 30ml is used up I can’t get anymore? I might be better off just not trying it at all.
Or, accept it may be unavailable in later years, wear it, and enjoy the heck out of it.
Lol! I’m sorry, chocolatemarzipan8! I have to say, I’ve tried lots of almond scents and still looking, but this one is quite good.
Buy two!
lalalalalalala..not listening 🙂
SotD is Sarrasins
Berlin was awesome! And cold and very sunny. Last time I visited was approx 17 to 18 years ago. So a lot has changed, wow!
I loved seeing the dinosaur skeletons in Museum für Naturkunde (with the very unique t-rex https://www.museumfuernaturkunde.berlin/en/museum/exhibitions/tristan-berlin-bares-teeth) and it was so nice to see Brueghel’s painting The Dutch Proverbs in the Gemäldegalerie again.
I love Berlin. I used to travel there for work all the time and it is a great place to explore cold war divisions (among other things).
NPR had a really interesting segment about Fats Domino recently.
SOTD – Heeley Cuir Pleine Fleur. I think this week should be a leather week in clarissa land
Mmmm…you smell Purdy!
Oh thanks, I will look for the NPR piece!
In a smidgen of Rose Alcane by some outfit called Aether. It weirdly has no sillage at all, but up close it has a definitely presence. It started out smelling like a typical rose, and if I had to say what color I would probably go with red. The three notes are rose, metal, and green. I get that. A cold, metallic rose. Right now it has the same appeal as a cold metallic brownie. Not doing it for me. Post shower I am going to try Geisha Vanilla Hinoki, another dauber sample. It has got to be better than this cyborg rose thing.
The only Aether frag I have tried is Methaldone which was all about cut and oiled steel. Interesting but not what I enjoy as a daily fragrance. ‘Cyborg Rose” is a cool description – naybe they should have named it that!
SotD is ‘fleeting beauty’ aka Chanel 28 La Pausa
Yep! You smelled great earlier 😉
All you fragrant people in your lovely Uncle Serge frags are making me long for autumn to kick in. But today will be 35C (~95 F) here in Adelaide and I will have to be out and about for work in the heat of the day so think I’ll be wearing Eau de Gaga intead for some refreshing green tea goodness.
It’s definitely not Chergui weather!
LOL that’s for sure!
Still committed to wearing irises for a few more days, so I’m in 28 La Pausa. If only it had more projection and longevity.
I have more iris perfumes than there are days in Feb so I’ll wear the ones I didn’t get to throughout March. I like to commit to wearing perfumes of a certain note for a whole month because it’s nice to do a deep exploration and comparison of all of my perfumes featuring that note.
The last count confirmed that I also have more (samples) left than days in February. So I need to carefully choose the last two – and then I’ll see if I feel like keep going.
Wishing for some sun here! At least it has stopped raining.
SOTD = Adam Levine for Her, from the sample stash and a very kind perfumista here. I *really* like the drydown on this one!
We must live fairly close because we seem to have similar weather. Are you on the east coast or in New England? Last time I checked, we were supposed to get sun tomorrow!
Don’t know your scent but I bet you smell great!
Yes, I am in New Jersey.
I swear if it’s grey tomorrow, I’m staying in bed!
The forecast is calling for sun tomorrow! ????
????????????
(Although a day in bed doesn’t sound so bad either)
I like that one, too! You smelled great.
????
Late again due to another long day at work. I wore my new decant of Guerlain Baiser de Russie. It’s a like, not a love for me. The caramel note reminds me of Jimmy Choo.
I’m so grateful for the splitmeets. It’s so nice to satisfy my curiosity without breaking the bank. I will happily use up my little decant.
Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin
Forgot that it was SL week; wore Caron Poivre parfum (circa 2012).
A Caron sounds like a great choice for a Monday.
It sure was a Monday! I had my shirt on inside out but didn’t notice until lunch. Thankfully I had a jacket over top so no one else noticed either. I actually discovered it was on the wrong way when I spilled dip on myself. Jeez!!
To remedy my bad day I sprayed several times with SL Iris Silver Mist. I may have to add some FM iris hand cream at bed time.
You smell gorgeous!
