Hump Day! And don't forget our next freebiemeet is coming up on Saturday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I went with Aedes de Venustas Copal Azur, from my 5 perfumes: incense fragrances for winter.
Reminder: on 1/26, wear one of your "top 10 of winter" fragrances (unless it's summer where you are, in which case wear one of your "top 10 of summer" scents)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top images are akumal and last day in akamal. tomorrow, tulum by rob zand at flickr; some rights reserved.
It’s January. I’ve already bought 3 bottles. The latest arrived yesterday and I’m wearing it today. Seville a l’aube, L’Artisan Parfumeur (forty-five quid, eBay, I’ll take that thank you very much). It’s sublime.
Did you read her book about its making?
I haven’t but it’s on my list.
it is a good read
what are the other 2 bottles?
Lalique, Encre Noir 100ml (£26.50, bargain) and Pharrel Williams, Girl 100ml (£13.10, !).
Ohhhh. Encore Noir is fantastic. ????
Hey, you got your 3 bottles for a darned good price!
Excellent choices all! Good finds!
You smell wonderful!
Thanks!
Nice purchases. But the more pressing thought: I want a Lego Avatar. ( Is it called an Avatar?) I love it.
Great addition to your collection!
For our winter days here at So Cal (today us going to be 74) I’m wearing Creed Jardin de Amalfi.
????
I ❤️ the neroli in this one. You smell fantastic!
In Donna Karan Black Cashmere. Another big winter favorite. Smelling good and drinking plenty of coffee to face a boring manager’s meeting in a while. Hope it ends up peacefully 😀
Maybe it will be so boring and uneventful, you can sneak a nap☺
I might! But I think I will be reading all the posts here… 😀
That’s what I do in boring meetings ???? You smell great today!
Thank you!
That’s what I usually do too. Some of the attendees are already yawning, checking their phones and growing impatient. We still have 1 more hour to go….
I watch cat and dog videos. Helps me keep my equilibrium.
Stay warm!
I will! So far I do not have any outside work scheduled for this week. Fingers crossed!
Wow, do I miss that beauty. You smell wonderful!
Thank you! It is indeed very beautiful. Sad that a fb cannot be found anywhere, anymore.
Unexpected day off today, since the kids have a half day. Thanks to a generous Nster, I’m giving Coromandel a proper wearing. Initial spray, I wasn’t to sure about it, but now I can’t stop smelling my wrists. It’s a little addicting, isn’t it? The weather people say to enjoy this week because, winter will be getting awful again soon. It irks me how excited they get when they get to talk about bad weather. As if they are getting overtime pay for every inch of snow or temperature drop, lol!
Coromandel is fantastic and yes, addictive! You smell wonderful!
I really regret not buying that one (and Chaos for that matter) when it were re-released a few years ago because it looks like it’s gone again, boo.
That was supposed to be for perfumelover67 above. You smell great anyway!
Thank you Bob! Black Cashmere is a wonderful perfume and it is a shame it was once again discontinued. I still have hopes it is re-released some day…
Haha. It is kind of perverse how excited they get when bad weather is approaching.
Coromandel is quite addicting! I know a couple of people who were just that during the winter, all winter long. Perfect.
Today I’m celebrating Moving In Mud Day with lots and lots of coffee and a big splash of January Scent Project’s Vaporocindro. Just like Smolderose it is a beast of sillage and longevity.
Have a great Wednesday all.
Stupid question, probably — what is Moving in Mud Day?
Just my silly way of saying I’m really slow today. Ain’t enough coffee in the world.
2nd this…
Ah, that is a feeling I know! Sorry for being dense.
Oh my golly not dense at all. I just live in my own strange, wonderful world that is not always easily understood (or so my friends tell me).
Bleu framboise by the very talented Jean-Michel Duriez.
That’s from his new(ish) line? How is it?
I found it at Le Printemps in Paris and Rouen in Normandy where I just spent 10 days.
I bought the tulip, rose EDP and Bleu framboise which is pure parfum 195 euros.
I also tried all the others of his new line but found them too unidex for me.
They need to get a US distributor. Where did you buy your sample/bottle?
Printemps in Paris, second floor of the beauty building.
More of Dasein’s Winter for a winter day. The opening of this is so beautiful that I’m tempted by a bottle, but I can’t decide if I like the drydown well enough to add it to my collection.
Wearing one of my favorite cold weather scents today, even though it is above freezing and pouring rain – Slumberhouse Pear & Olive.
I bought the Winter and Winter nights – and I prefer the Winter.
I have a sample of Winter Nights too but I haven’t tried it yet – stuck on Winter! But maybe WN will be the winner for me . . .
Ugh, P+E was one of those scents I put on the back burner to try, only to discover too late that it had been discontinued. Since Slumberhouse does sometimes reissue scents (Baque), I am hoping P+E will have a revival.
I’m sure you smell great! 🙂
Yesterday I did some perfume sniffing after my doctors appointment.
Sephora: Cafe Tubereosa & Iris Rebelle by Atelier and they were both passes
Went to BG’s and tested the Voyage Moscow by Guerlain and had to hide my credit card. Loved it! I hope to see it on the split meet.. Or if anyone has a bottle already and wants to split let me know.
SipOTD my FIL homemade chai
I might go out and sniff Iris Rebelle today. What didn’t you like about it?
too much carrot
Just tried it. Agreed, way to much carrot. Money saved.
money saved is good
what does voyage Moscow smell like to you?
Very easy to wear, smells very pink, but I don’t mean that as a back handed comment. I love tonka and this has a nice dose. Very well blended, with a crisp lemon/fir opening. Gorgeous.
I found it feminine, but I think a man could pull it off
Its worth taking a trip to the counter to smell, but do try it on the skin.
sounds lovely and def test worthy
I am interested what others think!
Is Voyage Moscow a new scent?
I didn’t care much for Iris Rebelle either. Bummer. I like that they do the smaller sized sprays but I rarely fall in love with anything they do.
Me niether….I wonder why..people seem to love them but nothing has every stuck for me. Also at Sephora Columbus Circle shop there was no Guerlain perfumes to be found and very little Hermes to try. Most of the good ones are on the mens side..
Voyage Moscow is a re-realease from Guerlain..the bottle is gorgeous and is 280 a pop. The SA at BG was very welcoming to spray some on you or a blotter, it has a atomizer that is attached. Lemming!
I could be wrong but I think maybe Hajusuuri was looking to possibly do a split on that one if folks were interested? I might be wrong on both the perfume and the splitter but she will probably chime in later 🙂
ah ok!
I don’t own any Atelier, either. There are a few I like well enough, but don’t feel the need to have them. I happened to like the carrot-y aspect of the new iris. The rest of it left me a little cold.
I love your FIL! Most Ateliers are passes for me as well. I do love Orange Sanguine.
Mmh homemade chai! You have an awesome FIL 🙂
CM8 is correct. I have a bottle on order and will offer it in the split meet!
My very first trip to Mexico was to Akumal – it was much smaller and serene then than it was when I went back 20 years later. Those images are lovely.
SOTD is one of my favorite winter-only layerings – Cuir Mauresque with tiny spritzes of Rose Anonyme on top. Like sprinkles. Yummy.
That layering sounds great!
It was not my first trip to Mexico, but I was there many many moons ago — whole area was lovely and from what I hear, much less built up than it is now.
Oof, I canNOT do Cuir Mauresque. A friend passed me her sample, warning me that it was pretty stinky indeed and that I might want to try it on paper first. I blithely tried it on skin first instead and instantly needed to scrub off the stale-excrement odor that stuck to my skin. Of course, the ones you want to scrub off fastest are the ones that linger the longest. The fact that CM is so popular is an amazing testament to how different people’s skins and noses are!
Oh, that is so sad, but so true – there are some widely adored fragrances that are just icky on me (I’m looking at you, Seville a L’Aube). I wish I could put my wrist under your nose so you could experience CM the way I do – it’s a lovely sweet suede-ish leather on me.
Oh no, does Seville a l’Aube not work for you?? It is just so lovely on me!!! The prettiest ambered orange blossoms before they have properly warmed up in the sun. How funny 🙂
Not at ALL – so sad. My bottle of SalA will be on the list for the upcoming freebie meet along with one or two others.
Oh I will definitely try to jump on your SalA at the freebiemeet. I have a little travel spray and have been contemplating a purchase for months 🙂 It was my second love from l’Artisan Parfumeur (preceded by Safran Troublant).
SOTD: Mon Parfum Gold from M. Micallef
A warm ylang ylang – amber scent. Would be great with a woolly sweater or fur scarf!
Saddened by the passage of one of my favorite authors, Ursula K. Le Guin. Here’s the New York Times obituary:
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/23/obituaries/ursula-k-le-guin-acclaimed-for-her-fantasy-fiction-is-dead-at-88.html
and Biblioklept on the Hainish novels:
https://biblioklept.org/2018/01/23/on-ursula-k-le-guins-hainish-novels/
Her parents were anthropologists (the K is for Kroeber). Although her books are classified as fantasy and science fiction, she used imagined other cultures to explore philosophical and ethical ideas.
On the importance of fiction, she wrote, “If you cannot or will not imagine the results of your actions, there’s no way you can act morally or responsibly. Little kids can’t do it; babies are morally monsters — completely greedy. Their imagination has to be trained into foresight and empathy.”
I think Bertrand Duchaufour’s bold creativity might be the best match for her writing.
thanks for sharing!
I was sad too early this month when Fred Bass the owner of the Strand bookstore passed away..
I am so sorry to hear this, she is one of my favorite authors as well. Thank you for the links.
lovely tribute!
I spent most of last night sniffling on the sofa with my primary partner, and reading the (many, many) obituaries. She is one of my favorite authors, and her works have had a tremendous influence on my life. If this is a hint of what’s to come, I am not very impressed with 2018.
What a great quote from Ursula Le Guin on fiction! Thank you for posting.
Sigh. Another good one gone.
That’s very sad news. The sun is just rising here and I was just admiring how strange and red the sky is …oh dear. If you haven’t read Words are my Matter, a collection of her essays about her life as a writer , i can really recommend them. Fantastic sharp and humane insights ( like the quote you highlighted). Ithink her humanity and empathy come through so strongly in all her work. And her wit. And her craft. Oh, sad news indeed. Read Sur everyone. It’s funny and wise.
Appreciating everyone’s comments and recommendations. I will also be revisiting her novels and essays, and catching up on ones that I had missed.
Dame Dark Horse today. We’re back to colder and some snow, but the weekend is due to warm up to the 50s again. The yo-yo temps really annoy me!
I love Dark Horse. It is definitely a toss-up between Dark Horse and New Musk Man as my favorite Dame fragrance.
I have the New Musk Oil, and it is fantastic
I think it’s the New Musk Man that is the closest thing I’ve found to the original Jovan Musk Oil.
Dark Horse is wonderful!! The temps here are fluctuating here too but the gray skies are constant. ????
Dark horse is great, you smell wonderful!
I’m with you 100% about the annoying up & down temps!
I have so many favorite dark roses for winter it’s hard to choose- today I’m wearing Lyric.
lovely! what are your other favorites?
Lyric is one of my favorites as well. You smell lovely!
Beautiful!
I love dark roses but have never sniffed Lyric. Must remedy this!
Lovely! I’m a fan of dark roses, too. My decant of Lyric has been neglected this year and I think the top notes are starting to turn ????
Oh no. I hope that it is still wearable for you.
I am wearing the last of a sample of Tea for Two. I just broke down and bought my first full bottle of the year – a bottle of Tea for Two from eBay. This is a perfect winter scent.
Don’t blame you – it’s a good one.
You made a great purchase! I think Tea for Two is my favorite from L’Artisan.
Tea for Two is a classic. Congrats on your purchase!
Yeah…I just ordered bottle #3 of the year too. This is not starting out as a judicious year.
It is a perfect winter scent and a great perfume in general, so if to buy anything, this was a good choice.
It’s sandalo nobile (by nobile 1942) for me today, a nice comforting winter scent.
Nice!
Oh? I’d love to hear more about your experience with it. I’ve tried Patch and Ambra Nobile and love both, which has made me curious about the rest of the line. The brand is quite difficult to find in the US, though.
Tauerville Hyacinth & a Mechanic for me. I got it as a Christmas gift, and I’m trying to feel like it’s inching towards spring. (My hyacinths out back are starting to peek out of the ground…protracted NW spring). Also, my daughter’s ballet school had a lovely hyacinth out in the reception last weekend, so I have hyacinth on the brain.
Oh my, I will have to go inspect the hyacinths and see if they’re coming up yet.
Wearing a smidge of FM Une Rose today since I was feeling rosy ????⚘
You smell wonderful!
Thank you! I really love this rose.
great choice
Agreed!
sotd EL Alliage – getting wafts of incense here and there. Reminds me a bit of Annick Goutal l’heure exquise, but maybe a little sweeter.
Beautul pics Robin. I feel my green perfume choice matches very well 🙂
I love that they made them look like polaroid shots 🙂
Your description makes me want to check out Alliage!
Wearing Cuir Fetiche for a big meeting today.
Hope the meeting went well, missionista!
Wearing another winter favorite today: Amouage Fate Woman. Like yesterday’s Myrrh & Tonka, this is another of my can’t-go-wrong-wearing-it scents. It’s funny, but my winter favorites also tend to be my most versatile fragrances in terms of wardrobe, occasion, etc.
I had a bottle but then passed it to ihadanidea because it was all baby powder on me. I can appreciate on other people though, so you do smell lovely
I’ll be wearing that one sometime this week. It’s definitely in my top 5 of Winter, and might be my most-worn overall. I totally agree about its versatility.
I love Fate and wore a spray of it last night. Sadly I think it’s too rich and strong for me to wear to the office.
I actually do a single spritz in my hair when I wear this to work, and that gives me the perfect ‘office-appropriate’ sillage with Fate (and a few others, lol). I know some prefer not to do that; I wash my hair nightly, so I don’t have any issues with it lingering, nor have I ever ended up with any negative effects to the health of my hair, so it’s worked out for me 🙂 .
Love both Fate and myrrh & Tonka, big winter favourites.
Both Fate and Myrrh & Tonka are lovely. ????
Rose Flash perfume oil, thanks to Andy Tauer and one of NST’s generous giveaways.
L.O.V.E. it :-))
I wore that over the weekend..addicting right?
Try the Amber Flush Oil too – equally wonderful.
Ditto!
You smell great! I wore mine on Monday. I also have the Amber Flush — both are fantastic.
I’m preparing for Freebiemeet by road testing some fragrances that I think *don’t* work for me. Which is actually kind of a drag — missing the fun of wearing something I love — but will at least make me happy later when the unloved have moved on to new homes.
Heh, I feel the same way. I have a “time out box” for fragrances I suspect need to move on to new homes.
Treat yourself to wearing a favorite scent tonight.
😉
SOTD is Frapin 1270, I wear it year round, but it is truly wonderful in winter.
Wondering, has anyone tried Aftelier’s new Velvet Tuberose?
Wood Infusion
I was pleasantly surprised by this one – warm, resinous and very tenacious. I’m not sure I want to own it but it’s fun trying.
What do you think?
I really like it. Did you get yours from Portia as well? It’s tenacious because it is parfum extrait. There is something about it that reminds me of Jo Malone Orange Bitters (but I have not done a side by side comparison yet). Maybe that initial blast of citrus? But it also has an odd note (not in a bad way but good to make it smell different to me) and I am also picking up the lavender. It also smells fantastic on my husband and there are very few fragrances that he ‘allows” me to spray on him but this is one of them.
Yes, Portia included it with my winning from some other draw.
I didn’t get the same association but I’ll try again, maybe in parallel with Orange Bitters.
Right about this point in the season I start to really miss flowers, so I’m scratching that itch with Papillon Tobacco Rose – but just a dab, so I didn’t gas out the dentist at my appt this morning.
I see lots of others are wearing rose today. We must all be feeling the same about winter.
Ooh I really like that one, but I don’t think about it often. I should get myself a decant. It really is quite rich! And a very beautifully unique rose.
Wearing Areej le Doré Oud Picante from a sample. Magnificent!!!
I’m imagining that’s a WOW scent. 🙂 I have a sample of Oud Zen I sniff from time to time, working up the courage to wear it.
It is extraordinary! How do you like the smell of the Oud Zen?
Boucheront Jaipur Saphir, from a treasured bottle that I used most of back in the day…. Still love its spicy citrus goodness! A very good one for winter.
My father (RIP) wore Boucheron for men
Treasured bottle for sure! I bought it back in the day, but returned it because I felt guilty for spending my money on perfume. Sometimes I’m so dumb. You smell great!
I’m wearing Shaal Nuur, another favourite.
Great choice. I may end up wearing that this week.
Gorgeous scent any time of the year, IMO.
Continuing yesterday’s theme of ALL THE SPICES, BECAUSE: WINTER, SOTD is DSH Perfumes’ Piment et Chocolat. Warm and spicy perfection.
Yum, that’s a good one.
Wearing Ummagumma, a recent winter fave. I was reading Victoria’s review on EauMG this morning, and her description is the closest I’ve read to how it wears on me. Like her I find it heavy on the base notes, but I don’t mind because I like this strange blend of notes! I love the frankincense overload and how cozy it makes me feel.
Fantastic choice. I’m having a hard time finding something in his line I DON’T like.
Ditto!
Room 237?
Decidedly better in warm weather. In winter Ohio I was ambivalent but winter AZ (75+) I was converted.
I got a bottle that bums me out just looking at it. Sprayed maybe, absolute max, 4-6 times. In the box! 1 oz. Pristine. I’d be delighted to trade it for samples, or the dregs of something you have that bores you. I like several Fazzolari’s but hate 237 🙁 !!!
No worries if you are not interested… 😉
I am ann dottie eisenberg attagirl comcast dottie net
I need to retry Room 237. I feel like the opening is challenging, but I remember enjoying the later stages of its development.
I wish I’d been more decisive on my favorites of the sample set of his original lineup. I regret not getting Jimmy, Seyrig, or Au Dela (original version, not narcisse) before they were discontinued. I bought a bottle of Au Dela Narcisse in the old packaging because of its limited edition status. Then discovered I prefer regular Au Dela. Now that one isn’t available and the Narcisse is a regular in the lineup. LOL!
Sometimes perfume is exhausting.
Hi therabbitsflower. I have a new 1 oz bottle of Room 237 that I really do not like at all. If you are even remotely interested in swapping, see my contact info above… I will swap for samples of things you hate!
Hi Oakland Fresca!! I’m squared away with a 30ml bottle but thank you for the offer. ????????
I just received a sample of this over the weekend, and holy cow is it wonderful. I could easily make this one a winter favorite! It’s been added to my wishlist.
Maybe someone will do a split…? 😉
This morning was particularly difficult. I just could not get out of bed, between a splitting headache and a scratchy throat. I wonder if I’m getting a very weird cold. I didn’t worked out in the morning as I usually do, and STILL didn’t get to work until 8:30 (usually, I get to work at about 9 after a 1-h workout+shower+drive). Blechhhh.
But! My SOTD is SL 5 O’Clock au Gingembre! This winter-best CP is great. Honestly, I’m probably just picking the perfumes I’d pick anyway. (Though–and maybe this is an even clearer indication that I’m getting sick–it smells a little nursing-home baby-powdery on my skin today, which it never usually does.)
have some warm water with lemon and honey..
Or if you are feeling ambitious add turmeric and ginger, blend and strain. Adjust to taste. You can store in a glass bottle in you fridge also.
Those are lovestosmellgood at home cold remedies. Along with my FIL homemade chai
Take care and feel better
Thanks, ltsg 🙂 I wish someone would make me chai! Oh well, I’ll try your “tea” recipe. (Though lately, I have had a hard time finding decent ginger. I wonder if this is a seasonal issue.)
Take care of yourself (knowing that you smell good to others – unless they are also getting sick, but how many of those people can be around at the same time?)
Hope you feel better soon!
Bleah on the not feeling well. I hope that it is a cold, and not something worse, like the flu or allergies. Lots of hot, soothing fluids, and take it easy on working out.
SOTD: Carnal Flower
Never get tired of this one. It’s something I wear year-round, but more in the winter so this would fit my top 10.
Had a fun conversation with a colleague yesterday about perfume and scent. She was surprised by my love for fragrance and said she never smells anything on me. I guess I really do go lightly with scent at work. Kind of happy to know I’m not stinking up the joint.
I think I love Carnal Flower best in the winter. It was a rare below-zero day when I first tested it, and something about that chilly-mint opening is so exhilarating.
Yes! You nailed it.
You smell beautiful! I also like it in any weather, but as mals86 said, it’s particularly exhilarating when it’s cold.
Aww.. thank you. I feel beautiful in it too!
Uh, oh — I’ve been reading descriptions of this year’s flu as causing bad headaches. Take care of your self and stay home, if you can.
I’m enjoying hearing about everyone’s winter favorites! And I’m in one of mine: Miller & Bertaux A Quiet Morning.
In one of my favorite winter fragrances – Diptyque Oud Palao.
And Robin, you smell great. I wore Copal Azur last week 🙂
Yesterday I came home to the most glorious surprise. I have a gem of a friend and SA who works at Jo Malone. The boutique sent me a Pomegranate Noir LUXURY CANDLE. I am still so stunned and grateful. I have decided to wait until we move into a house to light it. (Unless that becomes unrealistic.)
Pomegranate Noir exfoliating shower gel and Labdanum 18 this morning.
What a lovely gesture! I say you light it now, in an anti-hoarding move 🙂 but perhaps you could leave it out for now, unwrapped but unlit, to get all the surface perfume first.
The thing is, the JM candles are so fragrant. And the luxury ones are enormous. Lighting that size of a candle would be a bit overwhelming for our apartment right now. The normal candles fill the space with fragrance. Also, I have plenty of wonderful Diptyque, Byredo, and Jo Malone candles to burn right now anyway.
Oh how nice! If I ever fall down the candle rabbit hole, I think I’ll model my collection after yours.
Wowzers! What a lovely gift!
And you smell wonderful!
That is a wow! Those candles are gorgeous!
My vote is save it and christen a new home!
How nice! I agree about waiting for your new house, if it will happen after you get through your current candle stocks. Candles don’t go bad.
You DO have a gem of a friend! Save the new candle, and enjoy the ones you have in your stash.
SotD = THEOREMA.
That is all. 🙂
No need to say more! 😀
Excellent choice!
Boom!
*Mic Drop*
Wearing the sadly discontinued Mary Greenwell Plum. Enablers pin to mals on this one!
I didn’t know it was discontinued. Sad.
I didn’t know it had been discontinued, either.
HUMPDAY!
1) In Coromandel, which is simply perfect anytime of the year but especially winter. It melts into the skin and it just makes you feel regal when wearing patchouli
2) Rain Rain Rain- but no snow or ice or on the valley floor, which is such a 180 from last year!
Melting into your skin can describe a few of the chanel exclusives. Very nice
I woke up this morning to the last traces of MEM from last night (thanks Tiffanie for reminding us of this beauty)…its gorgeous!!!
I tried Selperniku, by January Scent Project. It has lots of good aspects but somehow it stays too sour on my skin 🙁
Smolderose works better for me (and I am not even a big rose fan)
This afternoon I wore Moon Bloom!
So good!
Also, in the sale i found a pair of fabulous AGL booties (70% discount), black suede with a big bow, elegant heel but not too high (5 cm). And they fit perfectly!!! I am so in love with them. 🙂
yay! do you have a photo! Love booties
Yes, Maggie Gyllenhaal wore them in one of their last ad campaigns!
http://www.agl.com/media/blog/files/a/g/agl_maggie_eu_2400x3200_2.jpg
I am often able to find a nice pair of shoes in the sale. I guess thats the upside of being short (and having small feet) in the land of giants 😉
WOw WOW …gorgeous!
Would love to shop with you!
Yep, it’s always you tiny-footed gals who get the good sale shoes (says this offspring of N European giants)
Love those! Nice find.
AGL makes the best footwear
Nice boots, congrats on the score!
yes to MEM! it is wonderful from beginning to end.
and congratulations on your very beautiful boots. 🙂
AGL is my brand of choice when it comes to footwear. Congratulations on the find!
Love the heels on your new booties. They look cute & comfy.
We’re having unusually warm weather here in New Zealand, apparently we’re on track for the hottest January on record. Last summer was rubbish, so this is quite a change. I’m thinking Rose Alexandrie (Armani Privé) for today, it’s suitably light and summery.
Lots of comments today!
I’m in Encens Mythique, from the swap meet, I believe. Wow, this works much better in cold weather. I’m not sure it’s me, but I might fall in love with it if I wore it more.
I am in absolute love with Encens Mythique. It is on top of my fb purchase list.
I can totally understand why it’s tops on your list. The dry down is soooo nice.
sometimes they have bottles at fragrance net, the discounted site..just saying..not enabling…
TOTALLY enabling. 😉
I’m trying to see if I can do this in 60 seconds or less…. pant, pant pant…. SOTD is Mitsouko edp. Gorgeous and helping me with my spine and stress. Yesterday’s gloomy weather: Donna Karan Signature… Cheers & well wishes to everyone!!!
Well done!
Cheers!
😉
There aren’t enough days this week for my top ten. SOTD is Beloved.
Wonderful!
Poivre 23, second day in a row, after lying in bed last night, still able to smell the far drydown.
SunnyDay-there was a hint of root beer in it!
kpaint-I do like it better in the winter!
Cazaubon-I would love to mix it with Vanille 44, which I sadly have but a wee smidge of, but wish to acquire more (hmmm, perhaps some people might like to swap a bit for some of my more esoteric scents…)
Great serendipity!
I am wearing Cartier Baiser Vole and drinking a cup of Earl Grey tea.
SOTD Mx – my top winter fragrance
I’m in Cuir Ottoman today- comparing it to Genre from yesterday. I have a little spritz of Genre on one arm for comparison. I really love them both- the Cuir Ottoman has the iris and sweetness and the Genre is dryer to me. I think I prefer Genre a teeny bit but I am glad I have decants of both! Perfect for cold days!
We are going to a nice dinner for our birthdays tonight. I got a free dress rental from Rent the Runway (which shows I rent from them way too much) and it is classy and sexy at the same time. Trying to decide what juice to wear with it. 😉
I’ll bet you will look and smell incredible. Have a wonderful evening!
happy birthday!
How about 31 RC for a classy evening
Excellent suggestion!
Happy Average Birthday!!
Ha! Thank you!
I vote for Noir de Noir if you have it. Perfect for date night! Happy birthday and have fun!
I do have it and it is one of his favorites. I was thinking of going with the 31 RC mentioned above but maybe I should pick one I know he loves….plus it was a birthday gift from my 40th last year, so it’s appropriate in that sense as well. 🙂
Have a great Birthday and dinner!
Thank you!
Happy Birthday, you guys! Wow, fancy din-din. Enjoy! What color and fabric is the dress? That’s how I make my perfume decisions, lol.
https://www.renttherunway.com/shop/designers/stylestalker/black_sana_dress
This calls for your favorite Chanel or Guerlain, I think! Enjoy!
Enjoy your birthdays diner!!!
I need to retry Cuir Ottoman
I tried it in spring last year for first time, but I think it suits cold weather better…
Happy Birthday, fellow Aquarian! I hope that you have a fantastic evening. ????
Happy Couples Birthday, KellyC and hubby!
Today’s SOTD is Thierry Mugler’s Angel Liqueur de Parfum (just one spritz…).
You smell delish! That stuff is amazing! So smooth. And the only way I can wear Angel.
I adore Angel but I think this one wears better on me, less berries and more caramel notes. I love the way my sweaters smell the following day.
Ooh, yum. That sounds good.
SOTD is Volnay “Brume d’Hiver”.
Top: bergamot, elemi and juniper berries;
Mid: jasmine, bulgarian rose and rose;
Base: oud, incense, violet, heliotrope, musk, vetiver, labdanum, vanilla, rose, powdery notes and clove.
It’s a pleasant and very polite rose-incense scent, nice to wear. It doesn’t really make me think of Winter fog.
Yesterday’s was Pierre Guillaume “Cadjméré”.
Notes are myrtle, cypress, brazilian rosewood, blood mandarin, vanilla, sandalwood, coconut milk and amber.
I’ll have forgotten it ever existed this time next week.
Ohhhh, I lurve – Cadjméré. So soft and velvety smooth.
Now imagine what my scent-eating skin does to ‘soft and silky smooth’. ;^)
Wallowing in Havana Vanille. I love it, not as much fun as Vanilia, but seriously beautiful!
Sotd: Nuit Etoilée, the balsam and mint always remind me of Christmas and snowy winter days!
So many wearing Coromandel today. Can’t really bear to wear it due to a sad scent association. But it is beautiful in the winter. ????
I love Nuit Étoilée, you smell great!
Oh, that’s too bad about Coromandel. I think I got my decant from your split.
I missed your sad scent association–would you be willing to share what it was? Sorry it happened, in any case 🙁
You smell wonderful!
Wearing Montale Incense Full today. Need to wear Copal Azur this week too. So many great winter scents!
Birthday SOTD = Samsara EdT, from a bottle that needs a little more attention. Especially now… the weather is perfect for it. So maybe that will be my bottle of the week.
Ahhhh!!!! Happy Birthday! We are almost birthday twins- mine is tomorrow! You smell wonderful and I hope you have a marvelous evening!
Yeah, we missed by a day! ????
Happy birthday!
Thank you, Koyel!
Happy Birthday! You smell beautiful!
Thanks, Petunia! Samsara is on my “Don’t ever run out of this!!” list.
Happy Birthday Jalapeno????! You smell terrific!
Thanks, Elisa P! Love the pepper/chile emoji!
Happy birthday !!
Thanks, Barqs!
Happy Birthday!
Thank you, Lillyjo! Glad to hear that you had a day off today. 🙂
Happy birthday Jalapeno! Hope your day was as fantastic as Samsara is!
Thanks! Nice, low-key b-day this year for me. Luckily, Samsara can deal with that sort of event, too.
Happy Birthday, Jalapeño!
Thank you, Hajusuuri!
I woke up thinking about Gourmand Coquin, so that’s what I’m wearing. A winter fave, and also a summer fave. It’s the odd one that smells the same regardless of the weather. Maybe it’s a bit smokier in the heat? Either way it’s always delicious.
Getting a very late start to the day and need to do a bit of studying, then cook up a few soups (Caldo Verde, Chicken & Sausage Gumbo, White Bean & Bacon.) I froze 8 or 9 batches of soup in the early fall and they lasted a remarkably long time. I’m now rebuilding the backstock. Hopefully these (plus the other 4 or 5 I made last week) will take us into spring. I love cooking once the farmers markets open up, but over winter I’m happy to eat soup every night and not cook at all.
HHD!
You smell incredible! Love soup, and your choices all sound delicious. 🙂
Such a great idea, kpaint!
What a great idea! Soups take a day or two to mature anyway; might as well make them in advance. I might try that myself. (I tend to make lots of bone broth and freeze that, then thaw it as I need it for soup. No reason not to take the extra step!)
Your soups all sound delicious! That’s a great idea, making large batches at one time… I have a few recipes I do the same thing with.
I love when I wake up craving a certain perfume, and then putting it on 🙂
Yes to home made soups! We tend to do that for most of the winter, cook a big batch on Sunday and have dinner for the week.
I was very happy to have warm soup tonight. It started snowing early this afternoon, but this time it looked like falling Kleenex. I’ve never seen snow like that, ever. And I’ve seen alot of snow.
SOTD = SSS Forest Walk
Forest Walk is one of my favorite winter perfumes. It is dark and resinous and exerts its presence without overwhelming. It reminds me of OJ Woman which I will wear if I can find my travel spray without trying too hard.
I got a sample of OJ Woman this past weekend. Its really nice!
OJ Woman is one of a handful of scents that were instant love for me. If I had to choose 10 or 12 perfumes to wear for the rest of my life, that would be one of them.
I love it too but have been a bad custodian of it.
Yep…I do have the sample atomizer from the sample set but I want to find my travel spray!
Ugh ugh ugh I know it’s wrong of me to be envious but that was one of the SSS scents that was in my pretend shopping cart that I failed to follow through on, and I can’t stop kicking myself for not placing an SSS order in time >:o well, at least you can enjoy it.
My bottle was from probably 5 years ago, just a little after it came out. I need to take stock of my SSS collection to make sure I wear them. I haven’t given up hope yet with my request of To Dream. I am just being greedy as I already have a bottle (from way back when) and I never want to run out.
To Dream? I don’t think I’ve heard of that one!
SOTD was Parfums de Rosine Poussiere de Rose, a rich, spicy, woody, plummy rose that is wonderful in cool weather. This is one of my very favorite things I ever got in a swap.
Like others here, I have been I have been going through some of my unworn frags to decide which ones need to go to new homes. Consequently my SOTE at the moment is a mix of about a dozen or so perfumes.
Wearing The Rising Phoenix Perfumery 2016 Mysore Special Reserve sandalwood oil. So beautiful!
