This is a huge issue for so many precious perfume materials and the people who depend on them for their livelihood. Sandalwood, oud, myrrh, too many to list. One thing the video did not mention is that Somalia’s population has zoomed from less than 3 million in 1960 to almost 15 million today. Add drought and you have a disaster.
Yes it is…naturals in general are disappearing. Direct sourcing projects that guarantee an income seem to be the “thing” at the moment, but that’s mostly with the big fragrance & flavor companies.
so when the natural frankincense dries up and the trees are extinct from over farming. companies will have to use synthetic frankincense?
Synthetic incense is already in use…and when you see frankincense listed in the notes, you can’t really know which you’re getting.
